British MP to detail new covert ops by News Corp

LOS ANGELES (AP) — British lawmaker Tom Watson says he plans to detail new findings of covert surveillance techniques employed by News Corp. at the annual shareholders meeting on Friday in Los Angeles. He says the revelations go "beyond phone hacking."Watson says the revelations "will leave the company liable to civil liability but also huge reputational harm."News Corp. declined to comment Thursday.Watson has spearheaded a 2 1/2 year probe into phone hacking and alleged police bribery scandal at the company's British newspaper unit. He made the comments to reporters Thursday, but gave few details.He says he will be acting as the proxy for stock owned by labor group AFL-CIO. He plans to speak at Friday's meeting if he is allowed.
