Even with the tumult over tariff news last week, at least one poll indicates popularity for President Trump.
The results come from the Daily Mail, surveying over 1-thousand registered voters surveyed between March 31 & April 3, including the day after President Trump’s “Liberation Day” announcement. The poll finds President Trump’s approval at 53% …up four points from the week prior. This figure includes a remarkable a 13 point jump in the age group 18-29, a 17 point increase among black voters… and … yes..even… a 6 percent increase in favorability among Democrats & Independents. As for the tariffs themselves, most are still are unsure, but along three different lines, there is an overall one-to-2 percent edge of approval over disapproval for President Trump’s moves.

More Iran nuclear talks scheduled for next weekend
The United States and Iran have agreed to hold more negotiations over Tehran’s nuclear program. During talks this weekend, U-S Mideast envoy Steve Witkoff and Iran’s foreign minister “briefly spoke” face to face — the first time the two nations have done that since the Obama administration. The White House described the discussions as “very positive and constructive,” and said “the sides agreed to meet again next Saturday.” President Trump has threatened military action against Iran if a nuclear deal isn’t reached.

House GOP Won’t Take Up DC Funding Bill
House GOP leaders won’t bring up the District of Columbia funding fix bill on the floor this week. Details from reporter Bernie Bennett.
VERBATIM: Speaker Mike Johnson and District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser spoke Monday on a call to discuss a path forward on legislation to restore the capital city’s full spending powers, according to one person granted anonymity to share details of the private conversation.
Still, there are no plans to bring the bill to the House floor in the coming days before the chamber leaves for a two-week recess.
President Donald Trump says that he wants the House to take up the funding fix, saying the chamber should vote on it “IMMEDIATELY” to “clean up our once beautiful Capital City, and make it beautiful again.”

The Merchant Marine Academy wants Jesus back
The Merchant Marine Academy wants Jesus back
VERBATIM: Two years ago, complaints by the Military Religious Freedom Foundation prompted the removal of a large painting of Jesus watching over mariners in a lifeboat, which had been on display in the school’s administrative building since 1947. It has since languished in the basement. But during a recent speech to the graduating class, Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy urged the Academy to restore the painting, prompting a standing ovation and cheers from the midshipmen.
