SD company gets funds for rural broadband project

A Sioux Falls, S.D., company will receive $20 million in federal stimulus funds to help expand high-speed Internet access in underserved rural areas.
U.S. Sen. Tim Johnson announced the award Thursday. Johnson, who helped push for the funding, emphasized the important role the Internet plays in business development, affordable and accessible medical care, education and public safety services.
SDN Communications already delivers its services to 400 hospitals, clinics, schools, universities and government entities.
