Two Massachusetts companies will be receiving federal grants for technical innovation projects.
Senators John Kerry and Paul Kirk announced Wednesday that a Bedford-based company, wTe Corp., will receive a $5.6 grant and CyPhy Works will receive $2.4 million over the next three years.
CyPhy Works hopes to use the money to develop the technology for a small, unmanned hovering device that could help inspect and monitor bridges and dams.
WTe Corp. will work on a project to develop "strategic metals."
The grants are from the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
