Hy-Vee Inc. has named a 28-year veteran of the Iowa-based grocery store chain as its new president.
The company on Thursday announced that stockholders ratified the selection of 47-year-old Randall Edeker, of Urbandale, to succeed Ric Jurgens as president. Jurgens will remain chairman and CEO of West Des Moines-based Hy-Vee.
Edeker started his career as a part-time worker at a Hy-Vee in Chariton. He managed a store in Columbus, Neb., before moving to Hy-Vee's corporate office in 1995.
Edeker is only the fourth president of Hy-Vee in its 80-year history. He will oversee retail operations, store design, marketing, advertising and communications.
Hy-Vee, which was founded in 1930, operates 228 grocery stores and drug stores in eight Midwestern states.
