New York's Commission on Public Integrity says it has settled nine complaints against three related lobbying firms for violations in 2003 and 2004 for $60,000.
According to the commission, Powers Crane & Company, headed by former state GOP Chairman William Powers, admitted six reporting violations and agreed to a civil penalty of $50,000. Crane & Vacco, with former state Attorney General Dennis Vacco, admitted two reporting violations and will pay $5,000.
Also, and Crane & Vacco and Crane Consulting Group admitted providing a gift to two officials worth more than permitted by law and will pay $5,000.
Commission spokesman Walter Ayres says those registered lobbying firms have been superseded by others formed by the some of the same principals.
