Brussels Attacks: Why America Needs Ted Cruz

As the world mourned the dead and wounded in Brussels and President Obama was doing "the wave" at a baseball game with commie dictator Raul Castro in Havana, ISIS was asking its followers on social media to choose which country's colors they would like next displayed on the Eiffel Tower.

At a press conference in Argentina from his next stop on his Spring Break tour, Obama said in a press conference "Groups like [ISIS] can't destroy us. They can't defeat us. They can't produce anything. They're not an existential threat to us." His laissez-faire tone implied Americans should accept as the "new normal" an occasional bombing here or a San Bernardino attack there.

Europe's utopian dream of open borders and coexistence has disappeared, and what's happening there is headed here if we take seriously what ISIS vows to accomplish. It's as if liberals believe their little piece of the world will miraculously remain safe -- if they don't offend the offenders.

Sometimes we just need to cast aside political correctness and call it for what it is. As Confucius said, "The beginning of wisdom is to call things by their right names." If we fail to identify this enemy, we give it license to define us -- and then destroy us. Frankly, America's doomed if another Democrat wins the White House in November. To liberals, American leadership means ignoring or coddling evil, not destroying it.

Truth is, the only hope we have is that a smart, strong and principled leader like Sen. Ted Cruz wins. Everyone's attacking Cruz for his comments on CNN after the Brussels attacks, suggesting cop presence be increased in questionable areas of the country. Cruz told Anderson Cooper: "If you have a neighborhood where there's a high level of gang activity, the way to prevent it is you increase the law enforcement presence there and you target the gang members to get them off the streets. I'm talking about any area where there is a higher incidence of radical Islamic terrorism."

As if that's a bad idea? A May 29, 2015 WND.com article, "Minnesota Muslims Brutally Honest: We Want Sharia," highlights that large numbers of Somali immigrants prefer Sharia Law and have little desire to assimilate into American culture. The article documents over the past 7 years "dozens of young Muslims have left the streets of Cedar-Riverside, referred to by some Minnesotans as 'Little Mogadishu' for its high concentration of Somali refugees, to travel abroad and fight for terrorist groups" like al-Shabab and ISIS. CBS News once reported the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood is a "fertile ground for Islamic terrorist groups recruiting new fighters."

And Ted Cruz's suggestion is out of line? Please. Cruz nailed it in his March 22, 2016 social media response to the Brussels attacks: "Radical Islam is at war with us. For over seven years we have had a president who refuses to acknowledge this reality. And the truth is, we can never hope to defeat this evil so long as we refuse to even name it. That ends on January 20, 2017, when I am sworn in as a president. We will name our enemy - radical Islamic terrorism. And we will defeat it."

And no, "tweeting" the enemy into oblivion isn't a plausible alternative. Speaking to a group of reporters the same day, Cruz called Trump's policies into question saying, "Donald Trump is wrong that America should withdraw from the world and abandon our allies. Donald Trump is wrong that America should retreat from Europe, retreat from NATO, hand Putin a major victory and while he's at it hand ISIS a major victory."

While liberals lecture us on retaining our "American values" in response to ISIS, let's remember what Winston Churchill said: "Victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory however long and hard the road may be, for without victory, there is no survival."

"Without victory, there is no survival." Enough said.
