Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

Sitting here watching Sarah Palin debate Joe Biden, the words of columnist Kathleen Parker are ringing in my ears: “(Palin) can't string two sentences together.”

Boy, now that Gov. Palin has finally appeared in the much-hyped vice-presidential debate, I wonder if Kathleen is wishing she could take those words back. The normally reliable conservative writer stunned readers and angered my radio audience when she wrote a scathing column the other day suggesting that Gov. Palin should drop out of the race “for the good of the country.” Parker parroted the mantra of the left by saying that Palin is out of her league and should step aside.

On my radio show today, Parker defended her column. Feisty and a bit combative, she reiterated her belief that Gov. Palin is a lightweight who wasn't “properly vetted” and ought to fade away into the sunset, clearing the way, as she put it, for Mitt Romney to become Sen. McCain's running mate.

I'm still getting angry emails over Kathleen's appearance and expect I will continue to for quite a while.

Kathleen Parker's unexpected tirade took a lot of us by surprise. Then again, it's not the first time a woman has taken an unpredictable turn.

I never have pretended to understand women. Over the course of my marriage, I found myself wondering why my wife seemed to truly feel that yes meant no and no meant yes. I often could simply not figure her out, hard as I tried.

Maybe this bizarre contempt that Kathleen Parker has demonstrated for Sarah Palin is one of those mysterious aspects of being a woman.

In one ten minute phone conversation, Parker went from saying that she “love(d)” Gov. Palin to the mean-spirited line about Palin not being able to string a pair of sentences together. How in the world can someone love someone who is believed to be an imbecile, incapable of even speaking in complete sentences?

Naturally, that doesn't make any sense. Very little of Kathleen Parker's smear of Palin does.

That's why I'm back to thinking it must be a woman thing. And I said so on my radio show. Immediately, female callers from all over the country flooded my phone lines with agreement.

“Some women are catty this way”, said Ellen from Philadelphia. “Especially competitive women. They hate seeing someone like Sarah Palin get elevated ahead of them in any way.”

Kathy from Los Angeles called to say that she worked with a couple of women who behaved like Kathleen Parker did today. “The more accomplished and popular and beautiful the woman in question was, the more the other ladies hated her. They resent other women who are poised, self-confident and clearly comfortable in their own skin.”

A South Carolina caller said that I nailed it. “I have always suspected many women are simply jealous of Sarah Palin”, said Debbie. “It's irrational and unreasonable, but they are envious of this wonderful and inspiring lady.”

Again, I don't presume to understand any of that. Women are mysterious objects and I'm clearly not qualified to figure them out. I sure as heck remain baffled over columnist Kathleen Parker stepping off the curb on this one.

But no one who watched tonight's debate could suggest that Sarah Palin is incapable of smart, intelligent, articulate dialogue. Even in the tough environment of a televised debate with such high stakes, Gov. Palin was charming, charismatic, witty, folksy and captivating.

And you know what no one seems to be acknowledging? Americans realize that Gov. Palin has been getting a crash course on running for national office these past few weeks since she was tapped by John McCain to be his running mate. We don't expect her to sound like an inside-the-beltway politician. We accept that she's new to this.

Despite her wildly popular approval rating as the governor of Alaska, we know that she's brand new to this process.

And we love her.

We love her solid conservative values. We admire her love of God, family and country.

We know that she's tough, fair and passionate.

Tonight's debate confirmed it.

From the moment she walked onto the stage and shook Joe Biden's hand and was picked up on microphones saying, “Hey, can I call you Joe?” the night belonged to Sarah Palin.

From Iraq to Israel, she was crystal clear on foreign policy. On the war, her scolding of Obama and Biden of wanting to wave the white flag of surrender was spot on.

When she talked about education and the economy, she was running on all cylinders.

Let's face it, for both her critics and fans, tonight's debate was all about Sarah. That's because we know Joe Biden. We've heard him for years. We didn't expect any surprises from the liberal Democrat from Delaware. And we didn't get any.

To those of us pulling for her, Gov. Palin didn't surprise us, either. She's one tough lady.

“The Barracuda” delivered. She was well prepared for her showdown with Sen. Biden.

She was all business, reciting facts, policy and ideology with a smile. She did just fine.

And, Kathleen Parker, she strung complete sentences together all night long. I hope you were watching.

Parker's A Putz
Sarah Palin was great and I hope Parker will give her her due.

Emailed Ms Parker
I emailed Ms Parker after the debate. Not wishing her ill like she claimed many did in her second column on Gov Palin but pointed out how wrong she was.

Sen Biden did what he always does, sounds smooth and glib but just plain makes things up.

"our girl" Gov Palin did what she does, talks from the heart and with common sense and honesty.

Hi There Rowly

I read K. Parker's column and I thought 'What a pile!'

She is not one of my favorites, but I try to cover the field. That's how people learn things.

The Retired Rat

Palin did it all and then some.
In fact she MADE Biden commit a cardinal sin at a debating podium. She put him in positions where he had to make stuff up in order to defend himself and his leader. Then she would spring the "but that isn't what you said when you were running against Obama," strokes. Having been cornered, Joe made claims that are easily pointed out to be false and thus his side of the debate was slam dunked by Palin. To be honest his missteps and falsehoods teamed with her knowledge of his own speeches was Joe's undoing. Then she innocently states but I watched you during those debates Joe and I thought you were right in coming out against Obama. Priceless.

Women aren't warming up to Sarah
but they don't trust the black massiah and his sidekick, old Joe "cop a feel" Blow, either.

Now if we could just convince the stubborn old buzzard McCain to drop the phony comity and start naming names of those slimeballs who porked up the bail out bill and the crooks who are too blame for the crisis in the first place - Barney "does my butt look fat "Fwank, "Countrywide" Chis Dodd, Frank Raines and the CEO's at Lehman and AIG.

Next he needs to push for investigations into illicit dhimmicratic fund raising, with millions and millions of laundered money from overseas and the rampant voter fraud perpetrated by ACORN all across the country. Lord Hobama is going to make Clinton/Gore campaign corruption look like child's play.

Gwennie-poo was almost civil tonight. I thought she favored Obiden, but I'm not a neutral observor so what do I know. Also she slipped a couple snide remarks in there - one about bringing Sarah out of Alaska to answer a question. Ifel is a craven shill for Hobama and her calling anyone who questioned her rooting interest in the debate a racist, is so typical of infantile liberals.

Honest Assessment
Palin needs more seasoning. She's not ready to perform at this level...which isn't to say she never will. She's not the dunce the mediamakes her out to be, but she's not Ronald Reagan in a skirt...at least not yet.

That being said, she's still the best candidate in the race. This country is in for a lot of pain, people.

just be yourself Sarah
Just let her be herself and forget about all of those political hack handlers telling her how to act and what to say....

Sexism?
Oh Gallagher, you silly twit. Of course it has to be some woman thing, couldn't be that Parker was speaking her mind, as an intelligent woman can. But why let that get in the way of coloring her opinions as plain ol' irrational woman speak? Mike, you're a loser and a bore.
I was looking forward to the delusional reaction to tonites debate, and Townhallers you do not disappoint.
Palin came off as a sexy robot, a very attractive answering machine who talked in circles when confronted with well reasoned questions. Seems like those gotcha questions are not her only kryptonite.Besides throwing grampa John under the bus, her folksy crap and nonsensical answers will do your party in. Not that it matters to most of you here, since it's obvious you don't care about the issues, you care about how she makes you feel...good thing these elections are not American Idol, you'd have this wrapped up already. And how about more VP powers ala Cheny? That'll go over well....

Let's call it what it was:
pure green-eyed jealousy! Or, it could be that Ms Parker was hoping to become famous as leading the charge to pull a Harriet Myers-type lynching.

Ms Parker, like her fellow elitists and the MSM, just does not get it.

Let me clue you in, sweetie. Sarah Palin does not have to meet your standards of whatever you choose to measure people against. She is clearly the only one of the four candidates who clearly cares what happens to our country.

That is more than enough for most of us.

Your little mean-spirited hatchet job only serves to aid and abet the enemies of our country (that being the liberal democrats). But I guess that's not as important to you as it is to me

Very fake
Of course Palin can string two sentences together -- as long as they are fed to her to memorize as talking points. One could almost see the strings pulling her like a puppet.
Press the button and Barbie talks!

How?
Al of NY:

Nov 5 you will be quoting the old lines - "how could McCain and Palin have won? No one I know voted for them!"

Terrific!
I am proud to be a Republican. I am proud to have Sarah Palin as our nominee for vice-president of the United States.

Al and issues
Al the problem is we care about issues. A clear divide on issues was shown. It wasn't looks we loved Pres Reagan also and I never thought he was "hot".

Issues:
1. Taxes - Sen Obama Raise them, Sen McCain lower

2. Economy - Sen Obama in addition to taxing business and redistributing income wants to expand government , Sen McCain lower them and fight corruption

3. Foreign Policy and the War, no need to Explain, clear difference , Conservatives believe in Victory and no white flag. Understanding Diplomacy starts with diplomats and conditions established before presidential level talks.

4 Pro life clear difference.

5. Health care run by government burecracy or free market. Clear difference on issues.

Cutting Gov waste, fighting corruption in BOTH parties, NO POLITICS as USUAL , clear issues.

It is true we like Gov Palin's honest and refreshing style, but it is her positions and stands on the ISSUES for which we vote.

Lestat
please refer to my reply on another column as you clearly pasted your comment verbatim. I like the outsider position Palin presents. I think the only thing that will return this country to a path of growth is a beltway FULL of this type of person. It comes from having something in life other than a political career to keep things balanced. I have been looking for some time for an alternative to entrenched lifer politicians and Palin offers that, if not an urbane polished presentation. I can fabricate that for myself with little effort but then, look what that has done for us. Parker reacted exactly the same way many people I have talked with reacted. I felt then and confirmed it tonight that this visceral reaction was just the sort of thing I accuse liberals of doing with every issue and I forgive them for they know not what they do.until later.Conservatives should not react from the gut but should thoughtfully approach a topic. Parker failed to do that and, like my wife, is humbled tonight. And likely thoughtful and considering as well.
Great debate, best I have seen since high school Reagan/Carter.

Understanding Women & Democrats
A man was walking dejectedly along the beach, looking as though he'd lost his last friend. A sympathetic voice spoke from heaven, "My child, you look terrible and I hate to see you so blue. Ask Me for anything and I'll gladly give it to you."
After thinking for a minute, the man replied, "Well, I've always wanted to go to Hawaii, but I'm terrified of flying and I get horribly seasick on a ship, so could you build me a bridge from hear to Hawaii?"
"Son," the Voice replied, "do you realize how much concrete and asphalt that would take? Isn't there something else I could do for you?"
Again, the man mulled it over for a few moments, and then, brightening, answered, "Well, I've always wanted to understand women!"
God said, "Do you want that bridge two lanes, or four?"
After 28 years of marriage I still have trouble understanding my own wife some times, and I've pretty much surrendered on the others. One thing I did understand from what I saw of the debate is that Sen. Biden seems to think that he can say anything, no matter how badly his past positions and actions contradict him, and just assumes we'll take him at face value. What really frightens me is that there are many who will do so. I'm not crazy about McCain but he did do one intelligent thing by putting Palin on the ticket - wish the slots were reversed.

More on Biden
I've linked to this as a resource for href="http://www.jeremiahfilms.com/released/controversy/Biden.html#1002 Biden Blogscan where there are a number of Biden issues listed.

Hey Al Good One
I thought you were talking about Obama when were you were talking about a sexy robot and nonsensical answers. I just hope he knows how many states there are now. Thats embarrassing. and talk about how Obama makes people feel, wow, he's got grown men crying, fainting, and getting thrills up their legs as he reads his memorized lines. (Are you one of those?) and Of course he really should have had his monitor on when he looked at the bracelet of the "fallen soldier," he respects so much, so he would have known his name at the debate. Oh yea, and remember that dumb remark he made about
"I see(dead people) fallen heroes in the audience" he made at a rally, regarding military men that were there.
If you are so sure Obama is going to win, because he's so witty obviously, (he does know there are 57 states after all,) why are you so angry and teed off? You'd think you'd be happy, instead of acting like rabid dogs. and as far as the Cheny remark, Biden didn't know what he was talking about. He's throwing himself under Obama's bus.

Gov. Palin nailed it.
Maybe now the people who have been putting Sarah Palin down will realize how she has been set up by the MSM. Gibson's interview was heavily edited to make her response to the superscilious Gibson's gotcha questions look as bad as possible. Couric's serial interviews were also full of stupid, gotcha questions that she would never have asked of Obama.

I hope the results of this debate will make the public question the MSM's smears more than ever.

Straight talk
I am just so glad someone had the good sense to put this woman on the ticket!! Bravo.

Here's some straight talk - Sarah Palin is pretty, charismatic, smart and she's running for vice-president. I hear she's also kind. She's interesting and authentic (dems hate that) and we know she's pro-life, cause she talks and walks it. Something the LIBERALS FEAR. And that's why they really hate her. The combo is just too much for them.

Everything about Mrs. Palin is a threat to all they hold dear.

Palin and her detractors
Parker's comment on Palin is being echoed by liberals and democrats. To say that Palin is just cute and popular is an insult to the state of Alaska who overwhelmingly voted for her as their governor. Unfortunately, we use a different set of criteria when judging a person. I don't see Palin the way Parker and her troop see her. I see her as a person with a loving heart, a good intention, and a sincere job seeker who yearns to have a better job in the government. She's not your Ivy league-lawyer politician who will impress you with her courtroom rhetoric. Neither she is somebody who mesmerizes you with facts and details. As I've said, she's not skilled to memorize for you the facts and details, like lawyers are trained to do, she's an average conversationalist whose business is to present to you the whole picture. If you you demand for details, she will surely get those for you. In this debate, I think she did well... very well that some critics agree that she won this debate against a well-marinated veteran in the political arena. Biden has been saying everything that he had just said in the debate since the primary. Don't forget the fact that Biden is an insider for over 30 years; we expect more facts and details to come from him.

tougher
I think Palin could have been tougher on Biden about the financial crisis and destroyed him but I think she was coached to play nice. She did fine. There was no gotcha's by some liberal interviewer.

Media looks like idiots
The media tried to destroy Palin the minute McCain selected her. She responded by giving a great speech at the convention. That got the media madder so they doubled their efforts to destroy her. She responded by having one of the best VP debates in history.

It is obvious the media wants to destroy her, she stands in the way of their feel good moment with 0bama and their reputation is on the line for putting so much energy into electing 0bama.

The media should have directed their efforts in vetting 0bama rather than fawning over him.

Palin is such a contrast to 0bama. Palin is a real person who went to a state college, has lived through real problems, made real accomplishments and is in-touch with people -- for this she has been denegrated by the media.

0bama on the other hand has lived affirmative action, went to an Ivy league elitist school, has no real accomplishments, and surrounded himself with radical leftists in the sleaziest political town in the country. Nobody can relate to 0bama he is so far out of touch with common people. For all of 0bama's shortcomings the media feels thrills up their leg.

Parker is only wants to be with the in-crowd of the media. When one seeks to be associated with a group of fools then they themselves become a fool -- nobody knows this better than 0bama.

The media is essentially is nothing more than little kids trying to compete for who can do the best on 0bama's cheerleading squad.

WOW
Bill O'Reilly freaks out at Congressman Barney Frank over his role in the Fannie/Freddie scandal which caused our current economic crisis! It's HILLARIOUS!

Go watch these videos documenting the fraud of our elected officials http://wallstreetmarketnews.blogspot.com

Couldn't agree more Mike......
Great article!

The baracuda did an exceptional job at the Debate tonight. Sarah Rocks!

Sarah Palin
WOOHOO baby. Was she good or what? Articulate, smart, and commanding of the facts. I think she gave ole diarrhea of the mouth a run for his money. Go Sarah.

Sarah Palin was Fabulous!
I feel fortunate to have been in attendance at the Palin Debate Rally in St. Louis tonight. She set the tone of the debate right out of the gate, letting Joe Biden know she is a fighter.

And let me tell you, there were plenty of strong women (and men!)of all ages at the rally, screaming You Won Sarah!!!! She aced this!

Yes, women can be petty and jealous. Men can be petty and jealous, too. But people who have self-confidence don't need to put down those who are more successful (or beautiful, or smart) than themselves. In Sarah Palin, those of us women who are not petty or jealous see a leader. A leader who has us middle-class folks, and our sons and daughters, on her mind.

I expected better out of Amanda Carpenter. But, Mr. Gallagher, we don't need any more of this "men are from Mars, women are from Venus" garbage. It's divisive, and suggests that women can only have friendships with women, and men with men. In my personal experience, that is just not true.

What a great debate. And to be honest, I was concerned about the moderator, but she did a really good job, and I thought she was very fair.

Sarah Showed the Country Who She Really
Yes, Sarah Palin did a fine job standing up to Biden. She needed to show us what she could do under pressure and NOT from an edited interview!!(Couric/Gibson)

Hope to see more of her unscripted and unedtied.

Kathleen Parker is a moron
Steve Chapman is an idiot.

Sarah Palin rules!

Palin Rocks!
She did a much better job than Biden. She made him feel more uncomfortable. And most importantly she didn't lie or misrepresent the McCain/Palin ticket's positions whereas Biden lied outright at least 10 times misrepresenting his and Obama's positions and their records.

Here's one example:

http://www.redstate.com/diaries/redstate/2008/oct/02/joe-li ed-on-coal-sarah-called-him-out-on-it-2/

I would think Senator Biden
soiled his pants. Governor Palin cleaned his clock for sure! I'm wondering tho how the msm will spin this debate cause you know they will come up with something. Drill baby Drill was a great comeback. Ole Joe was on the defense all night long!!!

Parker's column was malicious
I read it and wondered about the motive because it was clearly a hit job. It seems some right thinking women are insecure about the newspaper scribbling gigs. Debra Saunders exhibited the same anxiety in a couple of her out of character columns.

Women are supposed to be excused for their defiance of logic at times but such unfounded personal animus is difficult to countenance. Her column was memorable for its maliciousness.

Parker may have pleased her editors with her deliberate attack on Gov Palin and shored up her own personal insecurities, but she lost an awful lot of readers, and eventually perhaps her media perch as well.

How bazaar is that..

Ms Parker is entitled to her opinion, but HUH?? Sarah Palin wasn't vetted, can't string two sentences together" and "should drop out of the race for the good of the country".. Doesn't sound like Gov Sarah Palin to me.

Does Ms Parker know the difference in the real Sarah Palin and Tina Fey? Like they used to say, simplisticly.. maybe she is just jealous, or has PMS.. Could it be she is one of those typical journalist Elitists, afterall, or is she too easily enfluenced by her catty female peers.. the Others whom she claims are "saying the same thing behind the scenes".. I agree with Parker that Romney would have been great as VP; but we now have Gov Palin.. who is the breath of political fresh air, and the energizing asset that McCain's campaign needed.
Thanks, Mike, I had not read Ms Parker's revealing column, nor will I.

Shes the Real Deal!
Sarah Palin is the real deal, now leave her alone and lets get to the bottom of Obamas shady connections with ACORN, FREDDIE, AYERS, ALINSKY and Im sure theres more! I dont want a President on a daily basis that is involved with people who hate our country!
And Parker, I hope you have an apology for Sarah Palin Friday morning!

It is women that tried to sink her
Coric did a hit piece and Tina Fey and the female pundits. Who can figure? The broads can be witches trying to prove something about a former man's world. Also something about the attractiveness of Palin and her position as governor doesn't fit a female outclassed, as are all of her detractors, thus far.

Don Jones
PoeSpirits.com

KATHLEEN WHO???
Who is Kathleen??

Oh...

Parker grew up in Winter Haven, Florida, and attended Converse College before transferring to the University of San Francisco for a year of study in Spain, majoring in Spanish Literature. She holds a Master's degree in the subject. (Google it).

Majoring in Spanish Literature?

Give me a break. My dog probably has a higher IQ than this woman.

alan
Oh no! I pasted it twice! The sin!

I posted nearly the same (read them again) comment twice because I want people to read it. What a scandalous motive. You really caught me doing something naughty, didn't you? Or, what exactly was your point? There's absolutely nothing wrong with what I did, but you'd like to think you have some gotcha moment just because you disagree with what I wrote.

I think you also misunderstood what I wrote. I was a fan of Palin before she was picked by McCain. She seemed like the real deal. But if she were as conservative as I'd like, she would have turned down McCain's offer. Now she's carrying water for the most atrocious policies - especially the anti-human cap and trade. As I wrote under Carpenter's article, defeating McCain is the only chance we have to stop cap and trade (we have no hope of retaking the House or the Senate). Maybe my words will echo in your mind when you and your family are illegally burning the wood you reclaimed from your house just to stay warm in the winter. Or when you lose your job because the economy is devastated by the strict allocation (central planning) of carbon emissions.

My Man Jones:
Those ladies attacking Gov. Palin are all about supposed "feminism". They just hate it that this beautiful mother of five is so successful, but she's conservative and pro-life.

She's not going to shove her pro-life stance down our throats (like the feminists shoved pro-abortion down our throats for the last 30 years).

Sarah Palin's brand of feminism speaks to millions of us working Moms. We are saying, "Yes we can"! Just like women of the 1940's stepped up to the plate and worked in the factories because there weren't enough men at home to get the job done.

I'm a middle-class woman who relates to Sarah Palin deeply. She is genuine, and she understands the issues for all Americans, not just women.

And Palin was brilliant in the debate. I watched from the Palin rally in St. Louis, and was privileged to see her in person. Wow. What a lady, and what a family!

I can't remember how many times I've

heard that "choosing Gov. Palin was the best thing McCain could have done"... or, "wish the ticket was reversed," etc.

Well, you know what they say, "Behind every great man is a........." Yup! A women!!! :-)

In fact, I've heard many very successful execs. say with pride that one of the reasons he is so successful is because he "listens to his wife," or in some cases, his admin. assistant.

Okay, so he may not "understand" what she's saying, but he listens!

Is Gov. Palin the perfect VP candidate? Nope! I don't think there is such a person. But, Palin is, WITHOUT QUESTION, MORE QUALIFIED if only, but not limited to, her exec. experience, which NEITHER Marxist Obama nor Bonehead Biden have!!!

Who knows why Parker took the stance she has? But I do hope she listened to the debate. I'll be interested to read what she has to say next!

I must admit
That after reading Parker's column, I e-mailed her of my disappointment (obviously got no reply). In thinking about her diatribe against Palin and her reaction to the deserved criticism she got, it is pretty clear that Parker, who for years has represented herself as a conservative, is secretly (now not so secretly!) a liberal, and is simply mouthing the left in her criticism of Palin. I hope Townhall removes Parker from her right to put her columns on Townhall. Her stupid and crass column against Palin clearly showed her true stripes and her insistence that she was right only proves her lying denials. I guess we can't blame Townhall for mistakenly allowing Parker to write her tripe, but now everyone knows her true stripes. She now knows she made a mistake, but like all good liberals, pretends she is right, when anyone with a brain knows she messed up royally. What a pitiful creature she has turned out to be.

I'm still wild about Sarah
I thought she left some openings from Biden especially on regulation and the dims/Fannie/Freddie fiasco when McCain called for more regulation but for the most part showed her outsider/reformer moxie. I never pay attention to the leftist msm hit people like Couric so I didn't watch or listen except what I picked up off of talk radio.

Bottom line- McCain needs to get her on radio and Fox and start talking energy and the border.
She can shore up his failings in this area and for God's sake open up Anwr!

Thanks
Thanks Michael, and especially for putting Kathleen Parker in her place. I'd read her article and was really puzzled, what the heck was she talking about?

I thought Sarah Palin did outstanding and at 5 weeks against 36 years at this, she was forceful, articulate and skinned Joe in a few places when he tried to fib, fib, fib.

Way to go Sarah!!!

revmarOK
I doubt your really from Oklahoma because they don't take too kindly to American hating Muslim supporting cowards like you. I have many friends in OK who I served with in Nam and they tend to take girly men who disrespect women to the woodshed. Your one of those pretend boys who feel threatened by a real woman but adore spineless effeminate do nothing men like the fraud Hussein Imabumma.

MOM !
I am old enough to be Sarah's father yet I can't help but see her as "Mom" and apple pie...
Women are easy to figure out, no harder than men, but the new breed of unisex "metrosexuals"
(artificial testosterone oozing females and estrogen rich "males")even their "therapists" or shrinks haven't a clue as yet. I am sure that while Sarah is a Woman, Kathleen no doubt, is one of the "metrosexual" mutants.

Palin....
...spit Biden out last evening. The taste that Obama/Biden have is so repulsive even a Barracuda can't stomach that much moldy liberal gruel.

A "retrosexual perspective":
I am a bit old skool as the kids say so maybe that's why Sarahcuda appeals to me so strongly. She is the antithesis of the Northeastern Ivy League Snob Circle. She's a breath of cold Alaskan fresh air.
O Mama! Where the air's cold and the Governor's HOT!!!

Go 'Cuda, GO!!

Kathleen Parker
I read a fair amount of Kathleen Parker and she is NOT jealous of Sarah Palin. She (KP) wrote what she did because she honestly thought Sarah Palin did badly in her interviews. She may change her mind. She has always struck me as a thoughtful writer. Her opinion should be taken at face value, nor should she be vilified if the reader disagrees. I intend to vote for Sarah Palin, and I intend to keep reading Kathleen Parker.

Lovely Sarah-cuda
Sarah shined, and I knew she would.

As for Parker, she has demonstrated ZERO integrity in her article. ZERO intelligence to see who Sarah Palin is. ZERO ability to understand people at all. In short, she has demonstrated ZERO ability to be a commentator, pundit or show any kind of wisdom in the area of politics.

So why is she writing for Townhall? What makes her think she has anything to contribute. She has suggested Palin is a lightweight for national politics. By Parker's own standards, Kathleen Parker has demonstrated in fact it is she who is a lightweight.

She is not qualified to write about anyone in politics.
She is not qualified to make any assertions, comments or insights, as she does not possess any.
By Kathleen Parker's own standards, she should go back to writing articles about local community outreaches at the VFW, and leave national politics to people who have some serious insight.

No apologies will work for Parker, she has given the left all kinds of fodder to use against McCain's VP selection, and they have used it well. The damage is done.

If anything, this entire episode with Kathleen Parker has demonstrated one thing quite clearly:
Kathleen Parker is the lightweight.

BACK IN THE GAME!

McCain/Palin can move on.

Sarah was the Sarah of the Republican Convention.

Joe was Joe.

With four critical weeks to go, McCain must now go on the attack and tell the American people that Barack Obama represents a danger to this country.

America does not talk to a nation that wants to destroy it. An appeasement policy! That's what Barack Hussein Obama keeps talking about. McCain should tell the nation the stakes are too high to let Obama in charge.

He must also tell the American people that this is no time for an inexperienced, hardcore, tax and spend liberal.

The George Soros bunch, of course, will be disappointed if Obama joins the Gore/Kerry club. My heart bleeds. Their dream of America becoming a weak, third world nation will, once again, be put on hold.

Mom is in the house
The liberals, particularly liberal women, hate Mrs.Palin beacause she reminds them, hair, glasses and all, of the one person they have been trying to divorce since the Sixties: their mothers. Sarah Palin is the woman who said You Are Not Going Out Of Here Dressed Like That, and Not While You Live Under My Roof Young Lady, and who taught them all the manners they try to forget and frowned at them when they behaved like disrespectful brats.

Metro Men hate her because they live in her basement off her largesse and she taught them to be grateful and respectful -- and everytime they are ungrateful and disrespectful her smiling face reminds them that they do in fact know better.

Mom is in the house and she has put her shoes on and she is coming downstairs.

Liberal Hippie Leftovers hate that.

Don't Underestimate Palin
I have long wondered what K. Parker was doing writing for Townhall.Com when I seldom have read her inscrutable screeds. I can now positively assure you that the time descriptor will "move on" to NEVER!

Palin
Luv the Guv! Sarah did just fine, but why do we give Obama a pass on his taking huge sums of money, er political donations from FannieMae? Another chance missed as Biden blamed McCain (if you believe that!). Guys and Gals:
1. McCain does not believe in over-regulation but he believed Fannie and Freedie needed to be regulated they were so out-of control;
2. Obama has taken huge donations from Fannie;
3. Obama's campaign advisor worked for Fannie.
Keep it simple and accurate. Eventually even Olbermann will connect the dots.

Parker's Half Right
I have to take exception to your characterization of Kathleen Parker's remarks as a "woman thing". How sexist of you. Beyond that, I've always enjoyed Parker's columns and view her as a voice of reason in an unreasonable world. I am firmly committed to voting for McCain/Palin and could no more vote for Obama's agenda than I could fly. However, in Parker's defense I have to say that I watched her interviews with Charlie Gibson and Katie Couric. While she did ok with Gibson, her performance with Couric made me cringe with embarrassment for her. She was obviously rattled and the sentences that came out of her mouth made no sense. (And no, I don't like Couric; I think she's like Obama...all fluff and no substance.) I was almost afraid to watch the debate with Biden last night but am glad I did. Frankly, she did much better although I'd still like to see her more comfortable in her new setting. I didn't see anything from this debate that would have swayed me to either side. I think the best thing she has going for her is her ability to connect with ordinary people and her common sense. In the light, I think she may be just what the doctor ordered. I believe she's bright enough to learn the things she needs to know and I certainly trust her to work for mainstream American rather than for Hollywood and the extreme left. But for heaven's sake, you surely know that most of us don't walk in total lock-step with our leaders. We're first and foremost individuals and are allowed to be, and that's what makes this country great.

Brava Sarah!
I think people went into the debate last night with low expectations for Sarah Palin - and we were all wildly pleased with the outcome. Obviously she was well coached for this appearance, and I was especially glad to hear her comment that she's only been at this for five weeks, which is what I wrote to Kathleen Parker.

As for Kathleen, it is unfortunate that she didn't put the blame where it is due - on McCain's campaign for sending Sarah to swim with the sharks wearing chum cologne - rather than just writing her off as a lightweight. In this campaign, Kathleen has aided and abetted the enemy, who have used her words as "proof" that the Repubs don't want McCain/Palin. As a writer, that is her prerogative. I just wish she hadn't jumped on the "Dump Sarah" bandwagon so quickly. I don't think it's a "woman thing. " I think Kathleen must have had someone else in mind for the Veep slot, and would still like to see that happen. I hope after last night Kathleen can rest a little easier about her.

Maybe Chris Rock was right...
In addressing why women don't rule the world, he explained "Because women hate other women!"

I've actually been surprised (but maybe I shouldn't have been) that the most venomous comments against Palin have not come from the old-guard male chauvinists.

I will try not
to take offense at the "woman thing" remark.

Although I, too, have worked with women who were "catty" and would not think twice about knifing a colleague in the back, I think Kathleen Parker is more liberal than many want to believe. I think she is largely a product of her generation and liberal university brain-washing.

Conservatives are eager to welcome into the fold anyone who speaks like a conservative, but people need to learn to look below the radar.

In an earlier column that Parker wrote, and I apologize because I have not been able to relocate it for a quote, Parker commented that she was inclined to believe anything that Obama said. She has also admitted in previous columns to having been smitten by him.
“Jan. 9, 2008
“As one who swooned early over Obama -- the handsome bi-man of unity -- and wrote like a love-drunk teenybopper nearly four years ago, I'm familiar with his spell. He's got It and it's easy to be seduced by a charming idea with a dazzling smile.”

Sept. 19, 2008

“I love Obama for his style, grace, intellect and his way with words. I want the healing power that an Obama presidency could deliver to this country.”

These remarks exemplify her naiveté and demonstrate that she is capable of being swayed by the latest fad. Such a person may claim to be conservative, but they don’t really understand the importance of conservatism nor the damage that liberal influence can do and is doing to this country.

Held back too much
An interesting debate. I think Gov. Palin won the debate, she did not win by a knockout. Far too many easy balls that she should have hit out of the park. Why did she let Senator Biden get away with making it look like Obama was the Paul Revere about Fannie and Freddie? She should have stated that Senator McCain was the one warning about those while I was Mayor and Obama was still a state senator. Tied Obama to being one of the largest receipients of campaign donations from them, On more than one occasion when Senator Biden referenced McCain voting so many times about this or that, she should have hit back with at least pointing to he has experience and has voted. How many times has Obama voted., hinting to the inexperience. She should have quoted the extremely large percentage of Senator Obama’s “present” votes, that shows leadership? She should have also at least once when Senator Biden commented about McCain vote read, commented about the meaningless of throwing a number out, how many votes are procedural, how many times did you Senator Biden vote the same way as McCain on a vote you are criticizing Senator McCain’s vote. How many times did Obama vote, oh, wait, he was just a community activist when some of those votes occurred. She should have stood up for judicial integrity and following the constitution when Biden supported his vote against Judge Bork. Like to see how Obama’s campaign will spin to the gay community their opposition to gay marriage! That exchange was way too funny.

AI,
female jealousy is the most likely explanation for Parker's attitude. Women like Sarah Palin are constant targets of this kind of cattiness. Parker doesn't make a rational enough case for her opposition. Romney is NOT going to win McCain an election.

Palin, my kind of gal
I think the Republican party has made a serious mistake. They should have voted for Palin as Pres, and McCain as Vice President.
He is not barracuda, he disappoints me that he won't campaign in Michigan. I am still going to vote for him, even though it is strictly because of her. I have wondered if this is a fixed fight, seeing he used to be a democrat. What better way to win than to have a candidate do what he is doing, shrink back and let your opponent beat you because you quit before the race was over.

I agree
The women attacking her are being "catty." I am a woman, and I can tell you, that unless a woman is cultured to not be so, with etiquette and so on, she is going to be "catty" to any woman she perceives as a threat. So I am not offended. But I do wish more men would recognize when a woman is acting catty, instead of calling it a "woman thing." There are plenty of good females who know how to conduct themselves with grace, elegance and intelegence and don't have to act like the out-of-sorts females of the left. When all is said and done, "catty" is not "dignity."

Reply to Elizabeth Post 2
I am a school teacher and in the last few weeks I have seen some girls decorate their notebooks with GO Sarah, GO and Palin Power pictures and slogans.

Governor Palin is inspiring a lot of women and young girls out there.

Elizabeth- I am with you, I wish Palin was at the top of the ticket but hopefully she will have her chance at some point.

Bulldog74

Chris Rock is right about very little.

One!

There is one reason why the women's lib. gang hates Sarah.

One!

Just one reason why elite snobs of Hollywood hate Sarah.

One!

One reason why most of the news media, which leans liberal, hates Sarah.

One!

One reason why left-wing, liberals hate Sarah.

SHE'S A CONSERATIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is simply no other reason.

frank
Good points, I had some of the same thoughts last night. I thought she did a good job, but there were a couple of times when she could have gone for the jugular, and I found myself thinking, "That is a patent falsehood or misrepresentation by Biden!", and yelling at the TV, "Don't let him get away with saying that!"

Lilycat
The thing that bothers me about this (I have the same problem with Krauthammer and others) is that I can't figure out what she really intended to do by conjuring up this little hit piece.

Was her purpose to shore up the conservative cause by helping to force a change in the ticket? With only a month to go in the campaign? Even the most lightweight of would-be columnists should see the problems with that! Even if she was right (and I think the debate last night revealed the silliness of that), she could just as easily have waited until the election is over

I surely don't walk lockstep with McCain on many issues, but I would not sell out my principles for the sake of a pitiful little column.

SHE DID A GOOD JOB
After last nights debate: I would love an OBAMA/PALIN
she is a christian liberal me. Hey what would jesus do?

Sarah did well
As a 6 week novice taking on the 36 year lieing windbag she easily beat him by any count.

To all Townhaller's:

Make sure to see last nights slugfest on Bill O'Reilly's show...he ripped into CongressMAN? Blarney Fwank like no one has ever before.
This is a MUST see put down...don't miss it!

Palin/McCain
It is too bad that McCain blew if for Palin with his handling of the bailout and voting for it loaded with pork. He is such a maverick that he doesn't even know what he stands for anymore. The old idiot has made the punk, arrogant kid commie our next president which will doom our country as we loved it.

Anna: WHAT? Are you nuts?

An OBAMA/PALIN tkt???

They're on opposite ends of the extremes...

And Palin is ANYTHING BUT a LIBERAL.

McCain showed poor judgement not picking
Not selecting Romney as VP, when America is in it's worst financial mess since the depression shows McCains poor judgement...and lack of foresite regfarding this financial crisis.

And the Rep.( which I am...2x voted for Bush...)can keep back slapping and saying how great Palin did...but if they have a brain they realize she is soooooo far from being a competent President, it's not a debate!

Palin
did a truly remarkable job of reciting her well-rehearsed lines and even a few zingers. Parker is still correct - she is unqualified and could serve the country best by dropping out.

And what about that wink thing she does when she is trying to be cute.

debate
A few things Sara could have touched on.
From the beginning of the campaign all the dems have said is how bad war is ( not a revelation) but according to Biden if they win not only will they multiply the troops in Afganistan he is talking about sending troops to Darfur. I'm sure in both cases there would be money sent as well. As far as Africa goes (not sure how its our problem ,especially in the financial cond we are in) G Bush has done more for Africa and aids than any other president. What has that gotten him or our so called standing in the world. He also mentioned dealing with countries that harbor terrorists, ( Iraq anyone). If thats true i guess he has bought into the Bush doctrine.

Palin's performance
I thought Sarah Palin did very well. As for comments about the need for Romney during this time of financial crisis, I suspect that a President McCain would make him Treasury Secretary, which is probably the best place for him.

rt
Gotta agree with you on McCain’s very bad judgment in picking someone this unqualified for vp. Romney would have delivered Michigan as well.

-
"11. IRAQ: When Joe Biden lied when he said that John McCain was “dead wrong on Iraq”

McCain was dead wrong on Iraq. We all know that. This is too easy.

Joe 6 pack

Better yet, can we get Romney for President?

If the GOP would have gotten rid of this winner take all primaries, Romney may have gotten their GOP nod.

I would have gotten off my fence and voted for Romney.

Why left/libs hate Palin
IMHO they hate her because she got there first without playing by their rules. She got to where she is in the nation scene all the while being a wife and mother and not buying into the the "women need men like a fish need a bicycle" propaganda.

Also, I'm not sure it is just a "woman" thing. I think jealousy is as old as the hills and men suffer from it and react to it just as much as women do--women are just more likely to use "words" to hurt someone and men more likely to use "sticks."

Palin
"And Palin is ANYTHING BUT a LIBERAL."

She is pro-Union and thanks unions too.

You're kidding me, right? You have the audacity (I'll bet you haven't heard that word in a while, huh?) to say that coservatives are supportive of Palin because of the way she makes us feel? Have you checked the liberal side of this equation? Mr. Rockstar Obama and his HOPE-mobile have done nothing but send shivers up the legs of his supporters, and you talk about conservatives and American Idol? I'm stunned that liberal could be so blind. Aren't you progressives supposed to at least be enlightened if not tolerant of other peoples ideas. (snicker, chort) You guys are funny!

CR: Been saying that about Romney when

he was still running for pres. in the primaries.

I love Sarah Palin!
Hey there Mike, for the record, I've met men every bit as catty and hateful as any woman alive, it's a human nature thing, not a female thing. That condescending stuff about not understanding women really bugs me. I think Sarah Palin is smarter than most of the journalists covering her, I just hope and pray that our nation wakes up before it's too late. She's got integrity and common sense and we really need that right now!

The real reason libs hate Sarah
The left hate Sarah because her obvious genuineness, beauty, integrity, wisdom, benevolence, and honesty makes make her a very appealing candidate. This appeal threatens what the left crave most, POWER over other's lives.

She's hated for her virtues, not her faults.

Why women haven't made more progress?
So in the national landscape just like in the boardroom landscape, women have not made as many cracks in that glass ceiling because some women can't stand to see other women successful. Having worked in the corporate world for 25 years, I've seen this over and over. Men will make powerful alliances to help each other reach the top, but women in general do not! It's a phenomenon that I've never understood.

Palin did great. She reached the average citizen in a way that we haven't seen since JFK. All those "women against Palin" people...shame on you! She's an accomplished, successful, smart and feisty woman who's shown her mettle. She's got my vote. I'm sick of the fat cat lawyers in government. None of them will bring real change EXCEPT Palin. John McCain did a good job picking her, because she will be an excellent advisor to him to keep him on the straight and narrow. There is no other choice. America better wake up and vote for McCain and Palin or they won't just get more of the same, they'll get WORSE.

AntiPalinSyndrome=PostAbortionSyndrome?
There have been at least 50 million abortions in this country since RoevWade. That's a lot of aborted women. We are now told that 9 of 10 down syndrome babies have been aborted. With one of every couple hundred pregancies being Down's, that's a lot of women who have made that choice. When we see a normally sound republican woman go irrationally anti-Palin, I wonder if we are seeing tremendous emotional conflicts brought to the surface by suppressed emotions due to a past abortion. Surely when we see strongly leftist women whom we know are proabortion I suspect they have made that choice, and it may well be the same with republican women who consider themselves 'enlightened'. With that much innocent blood on the consciences of american women, the national debate regarding any prolife woman is bound seem very irrational coming from the side of women who have been damaged by the choice to abort.

One more in the plus column
One thing that Palin has going for her is that she is not an attorney. We have enough of those in Washington already.

Tibby

Palin Shines!
Last night, every prayer that our family said was answered. Gwen Ifill did her job as moderator with remarkable and much appreciated neutrality. Biden answered the questions but was somewhat redundant. Sarah Palin walked away with an obvious victory by just being herself. She shined without an artificial light behind her head.

She is Main Street personified and that was the comment most stated by the public who were interviewed post debate.

There is a higher power in this world.

Genuine
"We don't expect her to sound like an inside-the-beltway politician."

That's her strongest asset. I'd rather listen to Sarah Palin stumble for an HONEST answer than listen to a career politician parrot party talking points.

The ideal ticket: Palin for president, and someone with even less experience for VP. What has beltway experience done for us lately?

Thanks, Joe...
I'd like to thank Joe Biden for clearly stating the Obama/Biden position on same-sex marraige:

If elected, Obama/Biden will not legalize same-sex marraige.

That's a campaign promise I can believe in. I wonder how Pelosi's constituents are taking the news?

What I don't understand...
is how, in a TH poll after last Friday's debate, 60% of people said John McCain won. I thought that debate was basically a draw. One could argue that a draw was actually a win for Obama, because expections were so low for him going in. Now there's a poll asking who won last night's debate, and Biden's winning with 57% of the vote. I thought last night's debate could easily be placed in the win column for Governor Palin, if only by a small margin. What gives, people? How could the same folks (TH readers) give the win last Friday to McCain and then, after Palin's performance last night, give the win to Biden? It doesn't make much sense to me. My votes in the two polls? Tie for McCain vs. Obama, win for Sarah Palin in Palin vs. Biden.

I was surprised and impressed with Palin
I thought she did a very good job. Even though I won't be voting for McCain, who's semi-socialist, or Obama, who's full blown socialist, I do like Palin. I like her because she doesn't appear to be the regular politician type that's always getting into office. She doesn't appear to be shady or slimy, she actually appears to be "nice".

What's wrong with having an ordinary person who's a nice, caring person running for office?

She's got more experience than Obama, and Democrats talk badly of HER experience? Give me a break.

But I really think she did good in the debate, much better than Biden, who himself appeared like a robot with strings attached, repeating the exact...same...mantra...Democrats have been spewing for years.

Palin/Parker
Shame on Parker...she should "step down" from
acting as a conservative and join the ranks of the elitist left that believe they know "better than we mere mortals". Palin has my vote.

Parker has to either support the people/folks/just hard working Americans who don't want socialism/communism want our borders protected, our culture protected, our language maintained or get on a bus to Liberland. Me thinks she needs to listen long and hard to Michael Savage...maybe then she would get an
education we can agree with and respect.

Bye-bye parker...GO GO PALIN!

The bear

CJ
Just once, when Sarah Palin is asked about her qualifications for serving as President I wish she would say, "You can make your own judgements about Joe Biden, but I believe my record of public service makes me more qualified to be President than Barack Obama."

Wrong on Parker
I understand Kathleen Parker's confusion over Sarah Palin.

It is ridiculous to suggest she is somehow jealous of Sarah Palin. Absurd.

Ms. Parker knows what it takes to be successful. I am sure that over the course of her life she has met with many women who were in positions of power who clearly shouldn't be there.

Some are there by luck. Some by a willingness to step on others. Some by sheer determination and intelligence and will.

Over the past couple of weeks, Sarah was unavailable to many of us and so we did not have the opportunity to form our own opinions about her. We resented that we were being forced to decide based on what others said about her. A third party judgment.

Ms. Parker was frustrated and so she let it all hang out. If it was a "woman" thing, it was only because she was willing to let her doubts show, for just a moment.

Give her a break. You are belittling all women in your column without realizing it.

I am supporting Sarah Palin 100%. And Kathleen Parker, too.

mod mark
The way I see it: McCain/Palin = more war, long recession, basically more Bush/Cheney. Romney would have made me consider voting republican. The guy is sharp where it matters, the economy. McCain admits to knowing nothing on the economy. And then his first decision is to pick Palin – very bad. He seems out of control and I am sure a lot of that is coming from him seeing this thing slipping away the last couple of weeks. Romney would have made his candidacy at least credible

The first column I ever read
by Kathleen Parker gave me that "oh oh" feeling. She talked about the whole ridiculous (I would never have an abortion myself--but it's perfectly alright if another woman is forced to kill hers)argument. She reminds me of the pedophiles and homosexuals who infiltrated the church back in the 50's to try and bring the church down from within. I would be very careful of people like Kathleen--she's probably an infiltrator herself.

Here's the difference!
Time spent on the campaign trail:

Governor Palin - 2 months

oblama - 2 years

Give her the benefit of the doubt. If she had two years under her belt she would own sloe-joe & oblama in any debate!

She is genuine and she comes across that way. She is a people's candidate, not a Washington insider.

Don C

Free the Barracuda!
I've been accused of being anti-woman executives before but Sarah Palin is the real deal! I would enthusiastically vote for her as president and sit back and laugh my head off as she tore up Washington, D.C.

What most American voters are looking for is commonsense and I think Sarah has that to the nth degree. Biden wallows in numbers, Obama wallows in meaningless cliches while McCain, the superb warrior, wallows in nonpartisan, feel-good language.

Bring on the Barracuda and let's get it on!

K. Parker is a gifted columnist, but
her criticism of Palin missed the mark. The problem is that the questions posed of Palin were ineffective in terms of the position she is seeking, which is an executive position.

Couric's questions should have been focused more on the lines of what Palin hopes to accomplish through the McCain/Palin administration. What are the goals, priorities, challenges, etc.

Instead, the questions are more posed towards her as applying for a foreign policy expert job, or a seat on the Supreme Court. Palin probably came to the Couric interview ready to discuss the McCain/Palin agenda for their administration. Instead, she got grilled for another job: being on the Supreme Court, or a foreign policy expert with a University.

Palin is not a lawyer, her focus is not going to be mired in the intricacies of jurisprudence. Nor should it be. This is for the lawyers and justicies. Part of the problem here is that we have not been keeping a separation of powers, i.e. the SCt does their job (not that of the legislature), and vice versa.

I would suggest that part of the appeal of McCain/Palin is that NEITHER are lawyers. They will not get bogged down, but instead will focus on acting like an executive. They will focus on getting the job done and overseeing others to make sure they do so as well. This is the MOST important job of an executive.

Kathleen Parker is a gifted and insightful commentator, but she is remiss for not nothing this important distinction. The problem is that the left is wringing their hands and repeating it like a broken record, so the point is not being heard.

joe 6pac
"The way I see it: McCain/Palin = more war, long recession, basically more Bush/Cheney."

You see it wrong. Obama/Biden promise to pull us out of Iraq prematurely. It almost guarantees that we'll be back there fighting again in a few years and starting from scratch. And as far as the economy is concerned, Obama/Biden and their policies are to blame for this mess.

A better comparison than McCain to Bush is Obama to Carter....

"McCain admits to knowing nothing on the economy."

And yet he was smart enough to see this mess coming in 2005, sponsor a bill to prevent it, and watch as Obama and Biden shot it down while grabbing money from Freddie and Fannie with both hands.

It sounds to me like you have some pre-conceived notions about Palin and are unwilling to let them go in light of her superior executive experience than either of the Dem candidates.

I'm with you regarding Romney, he would've been a great choice too, but too many people were turned off by the mormon thing. It's wrong and unfair, but it's reality.

Sarah infomercial on energy.
I would love to see Sarah Palin do a 30 minute infomercial on kitchen table issues and how rescinding the ethanol subsidy will help lower food prices (McCain mentioned his opposition to the subsidy but didn't link it to high food prices; i.e. corn fed to livestock is instead diverted to fuel)

High food prices. High Fuel prices and how an "all of the above energy policy" would lower gas prices, create jobs, help our economy, hurt the economies of dictators who mean us harm.

Palin is inspiring when she talks about energy policy. One sees jobs being created for great-looking Dudes.(ahem) Prosperity. The America that Hollywood once celebrated.

Perot did such a talking heads infomercial with flip charts while the media laughed scornfully. Yet, the infomercial got higher ratings than the World Series.

The X factor.

Tragically, the reason Kathleen Parker lost it and the reason liberals are liberals - are exactly one and the same...

... the emotional component.

Envy and resentment... two appropriate words.

And that is precisely why you are not going to be able to convince either one of them... simply because here, facts do not matter.

But... we still have a large number of undecideds and moderates out there. And what's at stake... are your wallets, your jobs, your children's education, your healthcare, your retirement, your freedoms, your security, your Supreme Court and the very direction of your country.

So, 527's... where are you???

The rest of the nation finally neeeds to learn the ugly truth about the "messiah".

Kathleen Parker
Is Kathleen Parker a democrat? she sure sounds like one.

Sarah Infomercial: Great Idea!
Sandra (Oct 3 @ 10:22) your idea of having Gov Palin do a sit down infomercial on the energy issues is a great idea! I hope the McCain team picks up on it and runs the ads in MN, MI, OH, PA, & VA!!!

Plantation Republicans
Kathleen Parker is a "Plantation Republican" as she is on the payroll of the Washington Post and MSNBC. David Brooks, who writes for the NY Times (and spends weekends washing and waxing Pinch's cars) is another "Plantation Republican."

Either would sell the GOP and the conservative movement out in a heartbeat.

MSM loves having "Plantation Republicans" they can quote.

Liberals stuck on stupid
I find it amazing the some of our liberal trolls still talk about Palin inexperience?

Doe this mean our lib trolls will NOT vote for Oblama because he has even LESS inexperience then Palin.

Libs stuck on stupid.

MaxPower: "Obama Tried To Extend Troops

Stay In Iraq"

http://conservativepolitics.today.com/2008/09/15/obama-trie d-to-extend-troops-stay-in-iraq/

"Until recently, Barack Obama has spent his entire campaign pledging to bring the troops in Iraq home immediately. According to an article by Amir Taheri of the New York Post, Barack Obama attempted to interfere with the U.S/Iraq status of forces agreement, and extend the troops stay in Iraq by one year.

"Quoting, on the record, Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Taheri says Obama tried to convince Zebari to end negotiations with the U.S., and ask the U.N. to keep the troops in Iraq for one more year-past the current mandate, until a new U.S. President and Administration is in office.

" WHILE campaigning in public for a speedy withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, Sen. Barack Obama has tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of the American military presence.

" According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July.

“ 'He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington,” Zebari said in an interview.

" 'Obama insisted that Congress should be involved in negotiations on the status of US troops - and that it was in the interests of both sides not to have an agreement negotiated by the Bush administration in its “state of weakness and political confusion.'

"Not only would this have left the troops there for one year, more importantly it would have been a major diplomatic setback for the U.S.

Obama Tried To Extend Troops, II

"If this report is accurate, Obama has not only violated the Logan Act, which forbids unauthorized citizens from negotiating with foreign governments, but he actually attempted to interfere with war policy trends for no other apparent reason than to win an election.

"Did Obama give no consideration to whether or not his actions would damage the U.S. ability to fight the enemy? Did he care? Did Obama try to purposely drive a wedge between the U.S. and the new Iraqi Government?

"I am very tired of these liberals, who want nothing more than to see the fall of the United States, no longer wants us to be a superpower, attempt to negotiate our defeat."

You are delusional if you think Obama is to blame for this economic disaster we are now in. If I remember correctly, it was the republicans and their manic devotion to Reagan deregulation and free market theory that have set the groundwork for this mess. And now even McCain is clamoring to clean em up through better and transparent regulation – almost hilarious coming from someone who supported privatizing social security. Palin has no clue. Romney gets it but he is not a choice.

Ratas Y Ratones
You are just a little Mickey Mouse today! Where have you been? I thought my favorite mouse had been caught in a trap somewhere.

I like to read differing opinions, too. However,Parker's was unfair. She had nothing to base it on. After she does a piece on Obama's lack of experience to be PRESIDENT,then I will say she is being fair.

The Debate
Kathleen Parker put herself directly with the Liberal slime merchants who have embarrassed our
Country with there slanderous, horrible comments.
Parker stands toe to toe with Sandra Bernhardt
and the rest of the pagan gutter snipes that permeate the Democratic stature.
Well Kathleen how does it feel to be a Conservative basher?

joe 6pac
No my friend, I have complete understanding of how all this came to be.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RZVw3no2A4

After you watch this, so will you.

And if as you say Palin has no clue, then how could anyone even remotely think that Obama/Biden are prepared to lead given their woeful lack of executive experience?

If McCain's warning bell had been heeded in 2005 maybe none of this would have happened. But no, Obama/Biden and the rest of the democrats shot it down. So screeching about McCain is really not accurate.

"God help us if Palin comes within ten feet of the White House."

You've convinced me, sticky. I'm so very worried about what the good folks in Europe think about our elections that I'm just going to change my mind and vote for Obama/Biden. God forbid that they would think badly of us and, as a result, refuse to help us defeat Islamic Terroism.

Mike Gallagher
This blog is full of sexism. To insinuate that Kathleen Parter said what she did about Palin is because she's a woman and possibly jealous? How about all the male commentators that are saying the same things? Speaking/Debating (whatever you want to call it) after 5 days of study and prepping is within Palin's comfort zone. Take her out of that comfort zone, she's a mess. She cannot speak inteligently in an impromptu situation. She panics and blurts out non-sensical answers. It's laughable. What is even more laughable, is that republican diehards are blind to the fact that this woman is not capable or ready to run our country. Republicans, if your candidate wins, get on your knees every morning and night, and pray that he lives through his term.

Of course Palin can string two sentences together -- as long as they are fed to her to memorize as talking points. One could almost see the strings pulling her like a puppet.
Press the button and Barbie talks!"

Nothing fake about her telling her Country that she isn't going to let the lessons of the past destroy the future. How the hell else is someone going to challenge Jpoe Biden's talk without stating You said differently when I remember you speaking on your own behalf in your own Attempt at the Presidency Joe. The more Joe's memory failed him, the more it became evident that Palin has a memory for detail and a don't double speak to me, no nonsense approach to the podium. She had Joe so immersed in his less then truthful rebuttals that it was obvious that Political Pundits would be showing those lies the day after. She put Joe into uncharted waters and he could only stay afloat for the moment by stretching the truth or lying deliberately. It is always the dissection of the debate to see who was telling the truth and Joe fails that test. Her memory and presentation were anything but Barbie like.

this blog is not full of sexism. As a woman I agree with Gallagher because I have worked with far too many women like Kathleen. Until women stop doing this they will never have equal treatment despite all of the marches. Women demand respect yet do not respect other women. If you want equality you must lead by example.

Ironically I knew the minute I read this column someone would call it sexist, I knew it would be an Obama supporter and a woman.

Send Parker to the Minor Leagues
That would be to Huffington for example.

John Derbyshire (not me) writes:
Sam Harris's attack on Sarah Palin in the September 20 issue of Newsweek. Sam objects to Sarah’s religious views of course, but it was this other point that got my (i.e. Derb.'s)attention:

“The next administration must immediately confront issues like nuclear proliferation, ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan (and covert wars elsewhere), global climate change, a convulsing economy, Russian belligerence, the rise of China, emerging epidemics, Islamism on a hundred fronts, a defunct United Nations, the deterioration of American schools, failures of energy, infrastructure and Internet security … the list is long, and Sarah Palin does not seem competent even to rank these items in order of importance, much less address any one of them.”

That is elitism run amok. Who on earth has the expertise to cope knowledgeably with all those issues? Even to reach Sam’s standard, you could put together a roomful of the smartest people in the U.S.A., and I doubt they'd agree on an importance ranking.
We’re not electing a philosopher-king, we’re electing an administrator, someone with good common sense and sound judgment. We’ve tried Wonder Boys in the presidency, and they didn’t work out too well. Herbert Hoover, anybody? […….] Or how about Jimmy Carter, an exceptionally clever, capable, and accomplished man? On the other side there is Harry Truman, who was scoffed at in much the same terms Harris uses against Palin.
The question who will, and who will not, make a good president is more mysterious than the disposition of souls in the afterlife. The poor voter can do little better than go with the candidate whose broad outlook on public affairs matches his own. As to intelligence, education, and ability — well, so long as my candidate, thus selected, doesn’t actually drool or fall down in public, I’ll rest my hopes in him/her doing at least better than Hoover and Carter, perhaps even as well as Truman.

I appreciate your post, but I wanted to point out one thing that I think you said that might be misleading. You said:
"Having worked in the corporate world for 25 years, I've seen this over and over. Men will make powerful alliances to help each other reach the top, but women in general do not! It's a phenomenon that I've never understood."

What's misleading here is that when you say men will make alliances to help each other, and then follow it with women do not, you seem to suggest that the male alliances are made at the expense of women. It even sounds like you're saying that is their intent. I would argue that men band together with other men that get along with so that they can progress as a team, even if it is against other men. It's not something that is aimed keeping women down, which, again, seemed to be implied in your comment.

Greetings all conservatives.
What a fine Sarah Palin day this is turning out to be. Been humming ever since I woke this morning. Wonder why that is?

Why?
Why are the MSM, women and libs against Palin? It is quite simple- everybody hates and fears an honest person. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, wants to hear an honest evaluation of themselves. Honest people are admired and avoided at the same time. This is why the press is so rabid in it's attempt to tear her down; they must find some way to bring her down to their loathsome and self-loathing level. MLK spoke the truth and got killed for it. The attacks are going to get much worse now that she is accounting so well for herself. She is a breath of fresh air in that backwater cesspool called DC (they never did drain that swamp- just filled it with BS).

Re: Don't Underestimate Palin
I have always viewed Kathleen Parker as a writer, hiding out on the fringe of a belief system, more akin to Arianna Huffington than to any true conservative motivations.

The rest of the world is beginning
to wonder why the US and its media is propping up 0bama. They have been programmed to believe 0bama is a messiah by watching CNN bias and seeing 0bama attrack big crowds. Now they are asking what has 0bama ever done. They don't get any answers other than hope and change -- they do not understand why Americans fawn over 0bama and are becoming concerned.

Parker - I've never considered her conservative but I too thought it was the women don't like women who are better looking than them thing, now I know she's one of those Romney crush people. He has a lot of them especially on National Review where Parker is a contributor.

There's a lot of serious Romney love out there in certain Republican circles.

Spot On!
I agree with your article on understanding women & K. Parkers distain for Palin. I don't get it, but hey, not even Freud could figure out what women want.

Different Approaches
I think Sen. Biden did better on the political aspects: knowing what goes on in the Senate etc. The point? Biden is a Wash insider and thus the antithesis of change.
Gov. Palin's job was to look forward, touch on emotion, and stay positive. Her big blunder in my world: She should have nailed the econ crisis on Frank, Dodd, Obama. She needed to call Biden out on his partisan voting record (reinforcing him as the antithesis of change).

They took tow different approaches. Biden did the tried-true political presentation (with plenty of spin!). And he did it well. Palin took a new approach; we'll have to see if it reflected well in the populace.

If everyone is so eager for change
why would they think Biden with his 30+ years of being part of the problem would be the best candidate to produce it? Why does the left tout Obama's lack of experience as showing he can bring change and fault Palin for the same inexperience?

Perhaps we've gotten into the mess in DC because we've had the fact spewing bureucrats like Biden and what we really need is more Palins. I'd much rather have a new voice riding back-up than having the inexperienced guy driving the train.

I disagree on your assessment of Parker's treatment.

The moment Parker turned to insulting Palin she lost any credibility as a journalist. She painted herself as petty and cheap, and now she's been called on the carpet for it.

Parker has every right to follow Romney, he would've been a good choice too, but that in no way excuses her behavior.

Sarah is a People Person

Some folks (men and women) just have the knack of pleasing people. I have to wonder about jealousy actually behind the wide-spread animosity women have shown for Palin. It's more likely an instinctive snobbery; because of her state and great outdoors background.

Also, we can't dismiss the new-born baby aspect of her story. Women like Kathleen Parker might seem "conservative" but would cringe at the thought of Palin loving her Downs Syndrome child so much. I think it gives them the creeps.

Speaking as one in whose close family a Downs son was born; I cringed and wept salty tears when this happened to my brother and his wife. To me all it seemed was a great tragedy.

Now, 30 years later, I love that young man myself. He's helped to educate me about such children. No more LOVING person can ever be imagined, as far as I'm concerned. I judged from IGNORANCE at the start of that life!

Which shows me now; Sarah Palin is NOT ignorant. Plus, she's a fantastic young mother!

Go Sarah
Sarah did indeed knock it out of the park last night. My wife and I have followed her campaign and all news stories about Gov. Palin very closely since John McCain picked her in late August. She does connect with the average American and we respect and applaud her for her life choices especially having her son Trig. What a step of faith she and Todd took there. We look forward to voting for the McCain/Palin ticket on Nov. 4th.

Elite Bubbleheads
Parker is an elite bubblehead who has spent too long among the cocktail circuit in DC and NY. Same goes for Charles Krauthammer and Peggy Noonan. While I think Krauthammer has good analytical skills, he is too far removed from mainstream America, as is Parker and Noonan (whose nonsensical mea culpa was too little, too late).

I think some commenters hit the nail on the head about the envy thing and women. I have seen that kind of cattiness among women all my life - they hate the smart, pretty and popular girl who is good at sports and can pal around with the guys who love her. And I'm not being sexist - I'm a woman myself.

How does that humble pie taste, Parker? Want it with a scoop of Moose Tracks ice cream?

Kathleen Parker
I wrote Kathleen Parker, twice and told her she is a misogynist and to QUIT WRITING for the sake of her country. Some Women like Ms. Parker are jealous of other women. Most women, like me support Sarah Palin wholeheartedly.

I think I've seen this movie
Anymore, I feel like I’m watching “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” when I see Gov. Palin on TV. I want to grab this automaton who’s mouthing the meaningless drivel she’s been fed by the McCain campaign, and shout “Who are you, and what have you done with our Sarah?”

I know, she’s being a good foot soldier in John McCain’s army, but this seems to be the price we pay for having the superior candidate at the bottom of the ticket. It’s just like ’96. If Jack Kemp hadn’t had to be Dole’s mindless clone, and been free to be himself, he would have kicked Clinton’s @$$ from here to eternity and back. Sarah could tear ObamaNation a new one if only she could speak her own mind.

Trouble is, in almost every sentence Sarah lapses into telling us how McCain is Mr. Wonderful. She’s like the salesman who is stuck pushing Edsels – try as she might, she can’t sell us on a dog of a product.

So what do you do? Me, I’ll vote for them anyway, and hope that the old guy steps aside in four years so that Palin can be the first name on the ticket.

If there is no acceptance or diversity of opinion amongst Republicans and we slam Parker....then we are no better than the narrow minded crowd that watches msnbc. Betting money was on Biden - but Sarah came through big time. So my advice is to never bet against Palin again - SHE'S MONEY!

Palin WON?
When did our standards for real statesmanship sink so low?
Why haven't good Republicans risen up in mass revolt against this foolish lowering of expectations for our national leaders? Where is the knowledge, wisdom and greatness in Palin? She displays no genuine shade of it.
That's not good enough for my family. Why is it good enough for you, fellow citizen?
Historian Clay Jenkinson portrays Thomas Jefferson on the radio. He also does Theodore Roosevelt, Merriwether Lewis and others. I saw him perform as Theodore Roosevelt on my birthday. No props or notes (other than period costume, mustache and silk hat), but he didn't need them. It was the most meaningful evening of political theatre I am likely to see.
Clay simply let the greatness of Roosevelt's life shine. He channeled Roosevelt"s wisdom, love of country and true concern for citizens. Not a moment rang false. Not a word was wasted. We all sprang to our feet at the end of the performance. The truth of what an American leader really SHOULD be leaped into our hearts through our ears and lit a fire.
Palin offers nothing of the hugeness of mind, heart and soul we should seek in the men and women we place in high office.
I demand better, and I resent being asked to sign off on a counterfeit, just to win at any cost.
No more for my family. We won't be voting for Palin.

Parker
Here is Parker's reaction to the debate. http://voices.washingtonpost.com/postpartisan/2008/10/the_ vp_debate_she_won_fersure.html?hpid=opinionsbox1

It gets it basically right. On superficial debating terms Palin did well. If one tries to find substance in what she said, it is a bit harder. In general she avoided answering any question that she hadn't been fed an answer to.

The one question she should have done that with was her answer on the Vice Presidency question where she was back in Couric land.

I Swear
I've never witnessed this level of insanity during an election, and it's coming from one side.

WTF is wrong with these people that they feel they need to stoop to these levels of hate and intolerance??

It's just sickening, and what's even worse is that there will undoubtedly be posters defending this type of behavior, justifying acts of vandalism and hate.

Just sickening....

Why don't you get some of those 5th graders to proofread your post. You have several grammatical errors.

David from CA
Wish I read your comments before I had lunch.

K.Parker is a "fair weather fan"
Just because the McCain/Palin team was starting to lose some points when Palin stuttered a little in a couple of interviews, Parker wanted to throw her under the bus. Or perhaps she had been reading too many attacks from the left and wanted to get in on the "Sarah Palin feeding frenzy." Afterall, these columnists write their columns to impress other columnists. Informing their loyal readers takes a second row seat in many cases.
Frankly, I think Sarah Palin is so engaging as a person and a speaker, she makes Hillary Clinton look about as appealing as wilted lettuce with anchovies on top.
Unlike Kathleen Parker, whose column I usually enjoy, I won't give up on her yet in anticipation that she will once again be able to string a few rational sentences together.

Sorry - it's not even close
The bottom line is that Sarah Palin spent five weeks learning a half a dozen sound bites and then delivered them like a charismatic, self-assured beauty contestant who spent her adult life learning how to charm judges with pretty generalities that sound oh-so-sincere and mean absolutely nothing.

That's just not enough.

It's not even close.

Palin
I sent a comment to Kathleen Parker indicating my disappointment with her article on Palin. I usually like and agree with her columns, but not that one.
As to Mike not understanding women, it may be becuse he was married to a liberal woman. His remarks about women was getting rather close to being sexist. I have heard him say how much he loved Denise, so I know that he loved at least one woman. Men and women are different in spite the current attempt to make men and women the same. Or is it trying make men be women? I realized that men and woman were different from each other when I was five years old.
Donald W. Bales

Biden
From Biden, same old Liberal dribble and same old lying crap we've been hearing for years.

Parker's no conservative
Parker's a RINO. No doubt she received praise from her limosine liberal friends for her courageous, if stupid, stand. Somehow she got a gig with National Review and pretended to be what she isn't: intelligent.

Palin Fans
Sorry people, Sarah still has to prove she can put two sentences together while standing on her own two feet. The debate showed she can cram some facts provided by her campaign but put her out there to answer questions from the public and the mainstream media and watch and see what happens.
We may never see that though since she is being coddled like a puppy and they are afraid to let her go for it again. The campaign would rather you see the prepared scripted Sarah than the real Sarah until the election is over.
She may be a good speaker but she hasn't got the substance for the job of V.P. no matter how those lobbyists behind the campaign groom her.
She may be engaging and charming like the old beauty contestent she once was, she may be spunky, but knowledgeable about our nation, about the needs of Americans other than Alaskans, about international affairs, etc. she is not. And as far as I can see, she's an expert on Alaska and Alaskan oil profits but not on Energy as a whole. Did it make a difference in the price of gasoline at the pump even though it was drilled in America? No. Face it Sarah Palin is not VP nor potential President material.

To Those Who Think
Sarah Palin spent five weeks learning some sound bites - YOU ARE WRONG.
Sarah Palin speaks with the passion, determination, depth and desire to CLEAN UP WASHINGTON. Can one person accomplish this - if her fellow Americans are with her.
What is all Joe Biden's experience worth when he is wrong, wrong, wrong on most issues and he lies, lies, lies - says anything that he thinks will work. What medication is he on anyway.
He is a walking, talking gaff machine.
So what Sarah Palin has shown us is not enough but Barack Obama's experience (which is non existent) is fine for us to consider him a viable candidate - pleeeeze!!!!
Try to google Obama and:
We know Wright, Phleger, Farrakhan, Rezko - tie Rezko to Allison Davis and Nadhmi Auchi. Let's try Wm Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn and tie the board seat Obama shared at the Woods Fund to Rashid Khalidi and then to Edward Said.
How about Obama and ACORN. And the latest friend of his to have the FBI search his house
that would be Larry Walsh.
Palin not prepared - SHE IS VERY PREPARED.
Obama - big problem - very big problem.

You damn betcha! Willie and the Kraut are not only DEFECTIVE they ain't Reaganites! They got a MAJOR "tude" BLIND spot, a "hole in their swing" when it comes to Christian Conservatives or Conservative Christians, Mojo. But the real point is not their being DEFECTIVE--it's the NATURE of the DEFECT being BIGOTED STUPIDITY!

Dick Morris is the guy with the Brains on this one, and he's a Cuda FAN!

Kathleen Parker...
...sounds like My2CentsPlus, who has posted on numerous threads with vicious attacks on Gov. Palin and demands that Gov. Romney be called on to replace her. Jealousy? Maybe. Or maybe fury that her candidate was passed over.

Personally, I think Romney would make a much better Sec. Treas. than VP.

Attacks on Gov Palin
After reading the reviews and comments by female journalists (Kathleen, Campbell Brown, Katie Couric, etc) I have arrived at the conclusion that indeed these women are jealous of her many accomplishments. In my book, she is by bar superior to any of them and is not the mean spirited individual that they have allowed themselves to become. As relates to how the liberal media in general have attacked the Gov and her family...they must be afraid of her. She is the true american here...and I am neither a Rep. or a Dem. Just stating the facts folks!

Scratch all too many of the Mitty-ites and you get an Evangelical Hater bigot--down on Palin for being a Pentecostal while bitter about the MYTHICAL "Christian Right" (see my The Big Mick blog on TH for a deconstruction of the disingenuous Left Right Linear Political Spectrum Model) torpedoing Mitt.

Nincompoops can't figure out it was THEIR militant "how dare you question you anti-LDS bigot!" attitude and come across as evasive demeanor that sabotaged Mitt's Trust Quotient.

Looks like they haven't learned a damn thing.

The SHOULD be Marketing Mitt as a Team Playing Sec Tres soon to move his way up in the lineup.

Once again the Evangelical Haters dynamite to pieces the very bridges they need for success just so they can Burn an evangelical at the stake. In this they overlap like a Venn Diagram with the Moronic Mythical Middle “Moderates”, the Pseudolibertinearian KiddyPorners the Flat (ulent) Earth Pol Potter Isolationists, and the genuine Dumbolcrap/commiqrs (see The Big Mick blog for the etymology of THAT “terminological exactitude”)

One would think at least the first 4 would see they have MUCH more in common with the Evangelicals and each other than ANY do with the DC/CQs and would seek power by rebuilding the Old Reagan Coalition around “Government IS the Problem.”
The first one who does so WILL find they can enpower their agenda OUT of the marginalized obscurity it now occupies. We’ll see who quits working so hard at being so stupid first.
