The healthcare legislation is unconstitutional. It's really that simple. I would suggest to anyone who doesn't understand that to actually read the document. The 10th Amendment is clearly and concisely written. The Constitution does not address healthcare therefore they don't have the authority to mandate the purchase of insurance or make any other healthcare "reforms" at the federal level. Healthcare is the territory of either the states or the people, but certainly NOT Congress.

I thought I might add a couple of things. I knew West Texans who settled this country in the early 1900's and before they died they all expressed gratitude to God for what they wrought here in a decidedly rough part of the world. Drought is ever present. Rain is a blessing from God. Yet these very self sufficient people continued to face what many would call impossible odds to farm and ranch and raise families and fear only God yet respect all life, especially the weak and helpless.

Yet, we as West Texans are dismayed at the tremendous fall of our nation from the heights to where it has come. We lament the loss of neighborliness and the loss of religion in the lives of our nation's people.

As a native of West Texas, I can avow that most of us are the "salt of the earth" people. We send the millions of dollars and staples to Katrina victims, tsunami victims, Ike victims, etc. In fact, did you notice that although the Ike hurricane was just as devastating as the Katrina one, that Texans did not look first to Uncle Sam for bailouts and inflated FEMA packages. WE JUST GOT ABOUT THE BUSINESS OF GETTING ON WITH LIFE--NO GRUDGES, NO MUD SLINGING.
