Why worry about the debt? Why not just apply some more 'supply-side' theory as the Republicans did during the entire George W. Bush 'Reign of Error?'

Folks, let's not forget the four tenants of Supply-side theory.

1.) Tax cuts increase revenue.

2.) Deficits do not matter.

3.) The more debt there is, the more opportunities there are for tax cuts in the future.

4.) Every program that the federal government creates or expands presents yet another opportunity for a tax cut.

I suggest you read Alan Greenspan's book 'Age of Turbulence' where he says that in 2001 the USA had 'budget surpluses as far as the eye can see.'

Conservatives agree with Warren Buffet.

A flatter more simplified tax code with less tax deductions would allow the rich to pay their fair share while not over-burdening the poor and working class.

Liberals oppose this reform.

In my opinion which is based upon limited detailed information and few facts, I’m more inclined to side with Rep. Paul Ryan, R-- Wisc. We should cut the entitlement programs by 75%, perhaps not all of them, just Medicare/Medicaid, Social Security, & veterans' benefits, the elderly will have to sacrifice like everyone else during these trying times. And even though our veterans have risked their lives, we must still ask them make even more of a sacrifice. As far Medicare and/ or Medicaid are concerned I think each program should be temporarily suspended for 10 years, and recipients of these programs should find a way to purchase health insurance. Personally, I write whomever I please in Congress... if you are even a bit articulate and cogent, sometimes your message gets noticed. I have had point-by-point replies from staffers on behalf of the congress people.

I KNOW that assailing Congress can work because I was doing it constantly to help stop Kennedy-McCain... and Middle America killed that...

I am tired of the 24/7 Paul Ryan promotion lately. He even has a WaPo op-ed out today in which he calls for preserving social safety nets and regulating insurance further, after several paragraphs of posturing and grandstanding as a free marketeer! If you had no other information and just read his Roadmap, you would think it a leftist plan, but the neocons are painting him as some sort of laissez-faire conservative. As far as I am concerned, he is standing in the way of the rollback. Just what we need at this moment in history--someone to mitigate the lurch rightward. Thanks a lot, you narcissistic turd! I like most of what Paul Ryan has to say, but I do not like a value added tax. It is a hidden sales tax. If they want a sales tax fine but it should be visible just like the state sales tax. When you buy something it should be on the receipt. You don't have to have a very big imagination to know what congress will do with a hidden tax, today 10% tomorrow 15%. The American people should be conscious of this tax every time they purchase anything both the informed and the uninformed Americans.

OMG, Mr. Ryan has said some very profound and knowledgeable things, but his comments about wanting a VAT are atrocious! Please call him, write him, e-mail him, or fax him and tell him NO VAT! We can't afford a VAT. He must not know how VAT works or he wouldn't go anywhere near one. A VAT makes everything so expensive, no one can afford them. Please, NO VAT!!

There should be only one tax to collect all tax revenue.

If, and God help us I hope it doesn't happen, Obama'a travesty of a heathcare bill passes, our members of congress must immediatele start preparing legislation to get it repealed. Once the leeches in society start getting the freebies written in this bill, it will become impossible to get rid of it. They will vote to give themselves portions of our earnings from our labor every time. Did everyone get a letter the other day from the Census stating that in a few days we would be getting a census form? I know it only cost millions to send that out to basically every household....but....a million here...a million there...pretty soon your talking real money. Stop with all this other talk about taxes the fair tax is the only way to go.

I say if Paul Ryan would subscribe to the fair tax he would get the vote for prez from me and the majority of the country. He has me on everything except his tax ideas. They are still too complicated, too old school republican and still keeps too much power in the hands of the gov. The VAT(value added tax) is too favorable of the wealthy while placing the greater burden on the lower and middle income population. It warms my heart to know there's somebody in D.C. who realizes what a huge problem entitlement spending is, but at the same time it bothers me that Rep. Ryan feels a new VAT tax must be implemented to cover entitlement spending even as he proposes to slash it. I fear that with a VAT tax, all this talk of tax and spending reform could wind up being a zero-sum scenario.

It is truly great that Bo's business has grown and is doing well. That is the way jobs and prosperity are created in this country.

Bo, I ask you, where does the money your company pays in taxes come from? From your customers, of course. From what they are freely paying you for your product or service.
