“Los cubanos están cagados,” — the Cubans are sh------ themselves — said a businessman who regularly meets with Cuban government officials and told the Miami Herald and el Nuevo Herald they contacted him after Trump’s victory. “They have no communication channels to Trump.”
Actually, it’s probably Trump’s appointments to his transition team that have over-activated the bowels of the Castro-Family-and-Military-Crony-Crime-Syndicate (commonly and grotesquely mislabeled as “Cuba” by the media and Obama State Dept.)
No person is more Feared & Loathed by the Castro regime—and by that Stalinist regime’s U.S.-based propaganda and lobbying apparatchiks-- than recent appointee to the Trump transition team Mauricio Claver-Carone. Until recently the Cuban-born Claver-Carone, who also served in the Treasury Dept. under Bush, headed the U.S.-Cuba Democracy Political Action Committee (USCD PAC) as well as Cuba Democracy Advocates.
Probably no person alive understands the exact letter of the law comprising what is commonly called the “Cuba Embargo” better than Mauricio Claver-Carone. This Cuba embargo is the most feared and loathed legislation on earth by the murderous and kleptocratic Castro regime. Consequently, nobody knows how horribly this letter of the law has been violated recently by the Obama administration in its “opening” to the terror-sponsoring Castro regime.
Consequently, nobody is better positioned to direct any efforts to repair the terrible damage to the letter of U.S. law done by the Obama administration in its relentless groveling to the terror-sponsoring Castro regime.
Presidential candidate Donald Trump pledged to enforce the Cuba embargo and thus reverse President Obama’s (probably illegal) executive orders over the last few years that have circumvented U.S. law and greatly enriched the Castro regime. This enrichment has enabled increased repression of the Cuban people and emboldened the Castro regime to persist in its terror-sponsorship and relentless efforts against U.S. national security.
You’d never know it from the mainstream media, Obama State Dept. or multinational elites, but the reason for the Cuba embargo in the first place was Castro’s mass theft, at Soviet gunpoint, of almost 6000 businesses in Cuba worth $8 billion (in current dollars) from U.S. citizens. A few American business owners who resisted were tortured and murdered.
One of these was Howard Anderson who owned a filling station and Jeep dealership (not a casino or brothel, which were relatively rare in pre-Castro Cuba, by the way.) I’ll quote from Anderson v. Republic of Cuba, No. 01-28628 (Miami-Dade Circuit Court, April 13, 2003). "In one final session of torture, Castro's agents drained Howard Anderson's body of blood before sending him to his death at the firing squad."
The Inter-American Law Review classifies Castro’s mass burglary of U.S. property as “the largest uncompensated taking of American property by a foreign government in history.” Rubbing his hands and snickering in triumphant glee, Castro boasted at maximum volume to the entire world that he was freeing Cuba from "Yankee economic slavery!" (Che Guevara's term, actually) and that "he would never repay a penny!"
This is probably the only promise Fidel Castro ever kept in his life. All of the groveling by the Obama administration to the Castro regime over the past few years has not budged the kleptocratic Castro regime one inch on this issue. When they dared mention the delicate matter, all Obama’s groveling “negotiators” heard from Castro’s KGB-trained apparatchiks was an abrupt: “off the table!”
Naturally this shut Obama’s crackerjack negotiators right up, and set them back to their proper role of smiling, bowing, curtsying and giving away more foreign aid—courtesy of the ever-pliant golden goose: the American taxpayer.
The cocky Raul Castro even turned the table on Obama--pulling a Moe Green and insisting that we owe him billions upon billions of dollars!
But, as noted in this article’s title--there appears to have been a dramatic shift in this attitude. When faced with Obama, Castro blustered like the cocky Moe Green, insisting that we owe him. Now with Trump poised in the wings, Castro and his Stalinist clique have finally shut up—and instead keep busy by frequently changing their soiled underpants.
As the Trump team takes office, rolls up its sleeves and spits on its hands, brace yourself to read and hear–whenever the media mentions Cuba– a favored Media/Obama lament. You will likely hear and read it about a quadrillion times, believe me.
This familiar liberal lament consists of four words: “turning back the clock” (delivered with a sad frown or grimace by the media personage delivering it.)
Amigos, every time you read or hear the term: “turning back the clock on Cuba” please translate it in your mind as: “Upholding the U.S. Constitution. Ending U.S. subsidies to the Cuban people’s oppressors. Halting the enrichment of America’s terror-sponsoring enemies.”
