My understanding, and what liberals are talking about, is getting something/anything passed *now*, and then next year, using reconciliation to tack on the public option or expanded Medicare.

This thing needs to go down in total flames, because anything that gets passed will act as the procedural foundation for a larger government invasion of private sector health care.

What I don’t like about the very concept of universal health care is that it compels me to become my brother’s keeper and insert myself into the moral decisions of his life. I’m perfectly willing to provide subsidized health care to people who are suffering due to no fault of their own. But in those cases — which, unfortunately, constitute perhaps a majority of all cases — where the unwellness is a consequence of the patient’s own misdeeds, bad habits, or stupid choices, I feel a deep-seated resentment that the rest of us should pick up the tab to fix medical problems that never should have happened in the first place.

• Cigarette smoking
• Alcohol abuse
• Reckless behavior

Sorry folks, but somehow, I cannot understand why it takes over 2000 pages to describe a universal "right to health insurance", when the entire US Constitution including the enumeration of all our other rights takes up only 4 pages, including all 27 amendments!
When you get right down to it, 1000 pages are just pork to try to get senators to vote for it, 1000 pages are reforms that make the system worse than the current one, and only 100 pages have anything to do with reforming how we provide health insurance to the citizens that would make the system better.

They have removed the government insurance from the bill along with the Medicare buy-in, so just what are they going to do to fix health care?

Obama said the bill must lower health care cost, be deficit neutral, and cover the un-insured. That of course is impossible!
You cant add 40-50 million to the health care system, insurance or otherwise, and not increase the cost.
Since the Gov. Insurance scheme is gone, how are they going to insure 40 million + without someone paying more?

Then they are adding 110+ new agencies to the government. I would suppose that would add 1000's of new employees and at $70,000 a year, on average, that would surly increase the deficit.
