The biggest single line item in the budgets of the Federal Government and each of the Provinces and Territories in Canada is Health Care.

Every cent of Canada's treasure could be put toward health care and it still wouldn't be good enough.

Every story about long waits and rationing that you are hearing will happen in the U.S. when it has 'universal' health care, will turn out to be true.

Canada is being dragged into bankruptcy partly by its health care system, the same will happen in spades in the U.S.

To fix the U.S. system, only takes letting insurance companies compete across state lines and give those who meet a 'means' target get all the care they need for free. Everyone else gets to pay their fair share...

If you don't think the insurance companies are rationing care already, either you are about twenty years old or you're not paying attention. Not long ago a patient facing major surgery spent the pre-surgical night in the hospital (surgical prep was done, and sedation gave a good night's sleep). After the surgery, he was kept in bed under medical supervision for several days or a week or even longer. Now? The patient has to report at 6 AM the day of surgery, even if he lives 100 miles away and was up all night enjoying a gallon of Go-Litely laxative preceding abdominal surgery. Afterwards? It's "climb off the operating table and go catch a cab home"---and even if he is 80 and lives alone, he must cope alone with such post-surgical...

As long as the debate can honestly take place different thoughts and opinions are good things. Unlike conservatives liberals encourage honest opinion and different points of view. This is the main reason most conservatives don't get the respect they want from young people. Ron Paul being the exception. The writer of this piece seems to think that telling the truth or having a different opinion is something that liberals fear.

Nothing personal, but I don't see why we need to get Republicans back in power. Things seem to be working well actually. Cap-and-trade is dead, health care will soon die (they are just putting on a show of thoughtfulness), financial overhaul is too contentious to survive. Cabinet members dropping like flies. The Democrats aren't getting anything done. Of course, they spent a lot of money on the stimulus and budget, but so did Republicans.

So I am really not seeing how it is to our actual advantage to stuff Congress with more Republicans at the moment, since they seem to sell us out when we need them. I'll give you examples. Sarbanes-Oxley, Medicare Part D, shrimp tariffs, lumber tariffs, steel tariffs, faith-based welfare, No...

Unless that party begins to represent a clear "Choice not an Echo" opposing statism and government control there is no longer hope for Liberty. Stop equating Conservatves with the GOP. It was the Conservative movement which brought the GOP success in 1980 and 1994. In other times Conservatives went along with Republican candidates of accomodationist stripes simply out of a lack of choice. It was Everett Dirksen who told Thomas Dewey ( a failed GOP "moderate" candidate) "twice we followed you to defeat...No more." We have seen victory and tasted defeat. It is time to stand for principle whatever the cost.
