Last week, the Tax Foundation released a 12-page Special Report entitled “Who Pays America’s Tax Burden, and Who Gets the Most Government Spending?” (Available free here.) Based upon 2004 IRS information, released in September 2006, it reveals some startling facts. For the sake of simplicity, brevity and clarity, I’ll just highlight federal taxes and spending, but the same analysis holds true for both state and local taxes and spending as well.
