You must not be a real conservative. Conservatives know God and they know exactly what God's priorities are--well, you do say that being gay is a sin--so maybe you're more in tune with God than you think. Even so, Doug is so much more in tune. He knows God's innermost thoughts and tells us what they are in his columns. His crudity and vulgarity speak volumes about the kind of God he knows. Maybe you don't want to know Doug's God after all. Doug's God is an ill-tempered bully who loads his own.

They kept Micahel From the Grave for about two weeks before burying him, and even after they supposedly did, they were already fighting over the corpse.

I suppose it was not that hard to keep him from rotting away before burial, given the amount of Plastic he was made of and of course, all the Drugs may have been preservatives.

But, all that aside, how is that a guy like this becomes such a Hero after death given all the things he did in life.

This spectacle of a human being, even in death, just goes to show what we have become as a nation where it is all Show and No Substance.

Jonathan, I'm curious why you placed the word Christians in quotation marks. I assume your intent was to besmirch Christians as somehow phony. Some certainly are, especially those who condemn judgment according to God's laws as "self-righteous judgmenatlism."

With today's column you open up with a declaration that the MSM is comparing MJ to Mother Theresa. Personally, I haven't seen that anywhere. Everywhere I look, even those who laud Michael also bring up his foibles, his weirdness, his eccentricty, his questionable behavior when it came to youngsters. Yeah in many ways Jacko was jacked-up - true enough. But do you really think the MSM has ignored the troublesome part of his life? How could anyone ignore it?

Is is so wrong for people to want to remember the good in spite of the bad about a person? In light of his significant contributions to the entertainment industry and (try to ignore it if you must) his humanitarian work?

Interesting how all of you "Christians" claim to know exactly where Michael stood in relationship with God, especially the Pharisee who authored the column. So if the media is wrong for deifying Michael, then the conservative punditry is just as wrong for demonizing him. See, to God, sin is sin. Whether you're a pedophile, an adulterer, fornicator, or gay...these are all sins. But so is the self-righteous judgmentalism on display in many of these posts.

Michael has already been judged by God, so wherever Michael spends eternity will not be influenced by the fawning media...or by the cackling of those who didn't like him. And unless you're God, you can't tell me with any degree of certainty where Michael will be spending it.

I am sick and tired of all the coverage of MJ. Judging from the adualtion from his fans and the media, you would think that he was more important than God! I was actually a fan of MJ and the Jackson Five in the beginning, but then he started to get really weird and I could no longer stand to watch him. I am in no way condoning what he did to young boys, but I think that in his childlike mind he did not think that he was doing anything wrong.

note to "twomay" and "Gene"...It's really sad that since you do not believe in God, when you stand before Him and all doubt is removed, you will be sent to a very real Hell that you don't believe exists.

I have never discriminated against anyone because of race or anything else. I remember watching MJ perform "Man In The Mirror" at the Grammys with the choir rising up behind him. I still get goosebumps thinking about it.

I don't like Obama's policies, but having said that...

There's a great difference between "respect" and worship. Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and their "reverend" ilk have committed idolatry, plain and simple.

I am always amazed at how many people are "voted" into Heaven by the media (which usually does not even believe in a Heaven or Hell.)I don't buy what the media is selling, and I am tired of all the hype about this tragic situation. He wasn't, as some have seemed to believe, a god, but if he was, it was only a god of this world, not the God Who rules Heaven and earth. No matter how "humanitarian" he was, it won't be enough to pay his way into heaven.

Too bad those who are deceiving everyone by telling of his "virtues" don't read the same Bible I read. Even those pastors Jackson and Sharpton, along with so many others, seem confused. Jesus said so much about how we are to live, incl "If any man come after me, let him DENY himself...

The point is, the guy had a horrible life, and is dead. Why can't we have just a bit of respect?

I can pretty much tell you what the slant will be whenever any columnist talks about blacks, hispanics or Arabs. You may think conservatives are not fueled by racism and hatred for all non-whites but the rest of us know better. Remember the "Real America" crap your leaders spew along with your pundits, media types and so on? Do you really think that means a black man, a brown man or an Arab? As for MJ, he did break barriers on race on TV. Before him, MTV had no black acts.

I see this kind of hatred from the right in the same way I see hatred of Obama. Its almost primeval in nature, too irrational to be explained but through the prism of race.

But how weird is it to believe as Doug Giles apparently does that a guy that looks vaguely like Charleston Heston created the entire universe and all its creatures in six days six thousand years ago and currently watches our every move (but just humans, not his other creatures) and listens to our every thought in order to decide whether we will spend eternity in paradise or be consigned forever to hell.

never listened to an entire MJ song and don't care if I ever do. However, I tuned in to one of his concerts(in memorial) for about five minutes and he would sing(?) half a line, then dance around, then sing the other half and dance around some more. People paid LOTS of money to see n-o-t-h-i-n-g! I turned on the news and saw four or five grown people herding MJ's daughter to a mic and then almost shoving the mic down her throat so that she could say she missed her "dad". This is a sick, sick world. Those kids don't have a snowballs chance in hel of being normal.

Most humans try to understand complex systems and/or problems by using 'High Level Abstraction', or reducing each problem and/or system to the fewest components, so that each individual component may be analyzed and examined, bringing about an understanding of the complex problems or systems by their basic foundation or basic structure.

Barack Obama and Liberals use 'Low Level Abstraction' increasing the problems or systems to the highest number of components and then before any analysis begins, they begin to add components and then wait and see what happens before they begin to repeat the process.

The entire Jackson family seems to have originated from the planet, as one of them declared Michael as "the greatest man who ever walked the planet" - (which is likely to have been their home planet.) Perhaps they'll take Sharpton home, too, next time they're vacationing on home turf, at what is locally known as the "ringed-seat solar system."
