More Big Gov't "solutions" by "Conservatives". Yeah, let's force every Real American to carry a national, biometric ID card to weed out the illegals. Yet again the rights and traditions of law-abiding Americans are eroded and ignored because of federal incompetence, done away with to make the illegals more comfortable. Why should I have to participaet in this "foolproof" card scheme to give this feckles gov't a pass on doing its Constitutional duty??? It is THEIR job to police the border and deport illegals. But it is cheaper for us and less uncomfortable for the illegals if they don't have to face deportation, so we'll just kick the Citizens in the teeth to spare the illegals any consequences of their behavior.

Every time someone or state gets tough on illegals we get this old song and dance, "go after the employers with a 25-30 year program and the problem solves itself". We have way too many unemployed and deadbeats in this country that should be doing the work given to illegals in the first place. Some states have aggressive 'welfare to work' programs that have turned around whole families.

The american worker doesn't want a handout, they want to be able to support their families with dignity. The democrats have if all backwards, Obama won't get more political support by incouraging lawlessness, it's the hispanics and blacks (supposedly his core groups) that are hurt worse by the illegals, not to mention the effect on their communities...

Some powers are reserved to the federal government. Suppose Arizona wanted to coin its own money---should that be allowed? Raise its own army and go to war with Mexico? Immigration law is reserved to the federal government.

What is particularly galling is the way Calderone lectured the U.S. about immigration policy. Michelle Malkin pointed out so aptly how HIS country treats THEIR illegals.

But you know not all of the Hispanic voters support Obamma's plan or oppose Arizona's.
Remember who it was that started the Arizona rebellion against the foreign invasion. It was the Sherrif himself who is also of Mexican ancestry. This new Arizona move to control immigration is not anti Mexican or anti immigrant. It is simply a comonsense way to get control of an out of control domestic affair. This is just the natural duty of government to provide an orderly civilized society for their people.
Usually the federal govt. of the USA is also in favor of an orderly society. But we have an unusual situation today, very unusual.

Melech -- Of course Arizona has already passed strong legislation against those who employ illegals. IT worked very well and hundreds of thousands left the state. Libbies were against that law, too. We hear lots of excuses about how nothing works. That is patent nonsense. If every state passed laws like our sanctions on employers and enforced them and passed their own version of 1070, there would be no illegal immigration problem.

Not only would the 3 point plan improve the situation drastically, but it would also open jobs for Americans. Our unemployment rate would drop, if all of those who tend to think that they are above doing manual labor, which many of the illegals are coming to do this type of work, would simply go out and pick up these jobs for a paycheck, whether it's youth looking for summer jobs, or adults looking to pick up a job as the pursue other interests, the rate would drop drastically.

There is more than enough work out there, for everyone in this country.

I disagree with your analysis. First, there are several Democrat Representatives in the Southern area of AZ as well as the AZ Attorney General and several Mayors who are all in favor of the federal lawsuit. They are sure the Conservatives, and some Republicans will get their comuppance from the liberal federal courts. It will be interesting especially the backlash as Mexico, who has absolutely NO STANDING to sue a sovereign state in a sovereign country; and as the AZ law is worded in unison with the federal law (which the feds disregard and ignore) if AZ law is unconstitutional, then by extension, is the federal law. This could be expensive but fun. Nevertheless, the 2008 lection results were not that so many more Mexicans visited...

Giving amnesty to illegals creates 20 million unemployed people. If I am an employer will I hire new illegals or the ones I have to pay minimum wage to. Only liberals and people who know nothing think amnesty.
