Is President Obama's Afghanistan plan a step in the right direction?

June 28th was a very fine day, indeed. For one thing, under pressure from my fellow Americans, the boobs in the Beltway caved in, and stopped trying to shove the amnesty bill down our collective throats.

It was also the day that the Supreme Court finally got around to deciding that in a society that keeps insisting that it’s colorblind, race can no longer be used as a means to determine the makeup of student bodies. I’d like to think that Martin Luther King, Jr., would have approved, just as I take comfort in knowing that Jesse Jackson doesn’t.

My spirits were so uplifted by the news, it nearly made up for the fact that the 2007 New York Yankees are beginning to remind me a lot of the 1962 New York Mets.

The wonderful thing about the demise of the immigration bill is that it managed to delight not only those who wish Ted Kennedy would retire to the home for old sots, but those who are eagerly counting off the days until George Bush can finally devote all his waking hours to clearing the brush down in Crawford.

The bill not only drove a wedge between Republicans, with the smarmy likes of Hagel, Gregg, Snowe, Lott, Lugar, McCain, Craig, Specter, Martinez and Graham, siding with Biden, Kerry, Clinton and Obama, but even between me and one of my favorite radio talk show hosts, Michael Medved. He was clearly irked that the bill failed to pass. In fact, on the day of the bill’s demise, he even railed against the mere notion of amending the Constitution to prevent the offspring of those in the U.S. illegally from being granted automatic citizenship. I happen to believe that such an amendment is long over-due. I grant that reasonable people can disagree about this issue, but whenever I hear anybody carry on as if the Constitution was etched in stone, I remind myself that two of the 27 amendments deal with booze!

I can’t help feeling that whether our forefathers were Christians, deists, agnostics or atheists, they would have strongly opposed the proposition that an infant could benefit from the commission of a crime committed by its parents.

Those who promoted passage of the bill argued that it would allow the U.S. to finally get a handle on illegal immigration. What a laugh! Millions of illegals have come here on visas, but once they decided to overstay their welcome, absolutely nothing was done about it. You may recall having read about several of them in the aftermath of 9/11.

When the feds can’t even cope with so-called legal immigration, why on earth would we trust them to deal with the far more complicated problem of illegal aliens?

The biggest joke is when the number of those who have snuck in is placed at 12 million. Is that a figure that somebody saw in a crystal ball or deciphered in a glob of wet tea leaves? The president’s mouthpiece, Tony Snow, has admitted that nobody knows who or where these people are. But the one thing we know for certain is their number?! Inasmuch as I keep hearing from readers in the Southeast, the Northwest and the Midwest, not to mention those in Texas, California and Arizona, that their towns are being over-run with illegals, I’m willing to wager that the actual figure is close to double that number.

Besides, I have too much faith in the venality of our elected officials to believe they’d prostrate themselves and ignore their oaths of office for a mere 12 million votes.

Harry Reid has vowed that the bill, though severely wounded, will live to rise another day. It reminds you of those scary movies in which the evil creature, apparently dead and buried, suddenly climbs out of its grave. Come to think of it, that also reminds me of Harry Reid.

Those who scratch their heads and ponder the impossible logistics of deporting millions of people make me want to shake them until the marbles come tumbling out of their ears. There is one simple solution, and one that wouldn’t even require the building of a wall. We’d simply make it a felony for anyone to hire illegals. If the potential employee was unable to supply a verifiable birth certificate and social security number, he couldn’t get a job. You would soon see a mass exodus. After all, if they were able to make their way north, they sure as heck can make their way south.

It’s a big fat lie that there are all those jobs Americans won’t do. The fact is, Americans will do anything from picking fruit to cleaning cesspools, but they won’t do them for lousy wages. But, then, nowhere in the Bill of Rights is it written that the people who own farms, hotels, restaurants and construction firms, will be guaranteed an endless supply of cheap labor. And nowhere is it written that providing the illegals with housing, schools, food stamps and health services, is the responsibility of the American taxpayer.

The question isn’t why politicians on the left pander so shamelessly on behalf of these millions of aliens. After all, this is the same corrupt crowd that has made a practice of offering suffrage to convicted felons and even longtime residents of Chicago cemeteries. The real question is why George W. Bush has elected to lead this ill-advised crusade. There are those who thought his reason was political, that he foolishly believed he’d provide the GOP with millions of grateful Hispanic voters. That’s a possible motive. One must remember, after all, that this is the same fellow who thought he’d garner a lot of black votes by putting Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice in his cabinet.

Then there are those who believed that because brother Jeb was married to a woman born in Mexico, thus making his niece and nephews half-Latino, George was just overly sympathetic to the plight of poor Hispanics.

The latest theory I’ve heard espoused was that young George may have had a Mexican nanny to whom he was particularly attached. Although most people might regard that as a frivolous reason for endangering our national sovereignty, not to mention scuttling the GOP’s chances of recovering from the 2006 elections, it’s certainly within the realm of possibility. If Charles Foster Kane’s implausible life could be traced all the way back to a sled named Rosebud in the movie classic, “Citizen Kane,” I’m willing to accept that in pushing so aggressively for this lousy piece of legislation, the president was merely trying to atone for some youthful shenanigan that provoked his beloved Maria, Consuela or Esperanza.

So, instead of dismissing the bill as amnesty in sheep’s clothing, perhaps we should merely think of it as the nanny bill. After all, there’s no getting around the fact that those childhood experiences often have a very profound effect on us. For instance, do any of you have the slightest doubt that Ted Kennedy was a bottle baby?

resisting the Reconquista
A note to the Linda Chavez ilk--

Revenge is a dish best served cold... payback is a bitcx! Your cabal has proselytized your Pan-Mexican, socio-ethnocentric, disingenuous drivel for months, fooling nobody. We all know all too well about the concomitant pandemic social pathologies-- crime, drugs, gangs, tax dodging, welfare cheating, school and social service enervations, dropouts, illegitimacies, barrio blight, etc., ad nauseam. Furthemore, Heritage and the CBO have pointed out that the all-in costs of this "cheap" undereducated, indigent labor would be catastrophic to America. You were attempting to aid and abet the NAU/SPP, globalization goals of Presidente Jorge and other open borders, "cheap" labor advocates under the guise of "compassion" and other facile, fallacious sophistry... but Peoria was not
buying!

Worse still, your ethnicity mattered more to you than your country did. Funny how your side calls us Middle Americans "racist, fearful xenophobes," but it is muy simpatico for the "latino mafia" to tirelessly bray platitudinous prattle on behalf of ILLEGAL aliens, as if the rule of law and the American heritage and culture should mean nada! The usual suspects have included Carlos Gutierrez, Robert Menendez, Ken Salazar, Alberto Gonzales, noisome, smarmy, obsequious Vicente Fox shill Juan Hernandez, and Mel Martinez, head of RNC (Rino Network for reConquista). La Raza, LULAC and other racist latino cabal members lobbied about their "rights" and proffered artful myths of supposed benefits to America that few among the cognitively blessed truly bought into. Vaya con Dios-- al Mexico!

A little noticed fact in all of this... Arizona,, the state most plagued by ILLEGAL invaders, recently passed several anti-ILLEGAL referenda issues with almost 80% of the vote, including 40-50% of the latino vote. It is nothing sort of racism to assume that all hispanics support the ILLEGAL border crashers.

However, it is also ridiculous for some to fathom that ILLEGALS can later be persuaded to vote Republican-- they will break 95:5 for big entitlement government voting. Therefore, RINOS who support the tsunami of ILLEGALS are DOOMING the American heritage and culture and the Republican Party once the left gives them the vote.

a good column
Burt speculates about Presidente Jorge's motives in supporting the ILLEGAL invasion... a number of theories have been advanced, but at the end of the day, Presidente Jorge again thumbed his nose stubbornly at the will of Middle America.

Jimmy Carter tried to tell us that it was our fault that things were going badly. Jorge effectively wants to tell us that we are not smart enough to know what is best for us. Funny, but that brings to mind Big Brother. Jorge is guilty of blinding hubris as well as tangentially errant reasoning.

Carter left office in infamy... it seems certain that Jorge (all hat-- no cattle) will also. He promised no nation building, then proceeded to do precisely that. He promised us fiscal responsibility, then grew government and spent like a drunken democrat. He promised them down in Mexico that he would work for THEM on immigration "reform" and surreptitiously agreed to send our pay as we go S.S. funds south, even as he persecuted border guards in show trials meant to influence the Mexican election and keep the welcome mat out at the border. He SAID, "of course border security and enforcement must come first" even as he sat on 854 miles of approved fence and has willfully neglected to hire thousands of border guards. You cannot fool all of the people all of the time.

"boobs in the Beltway" LOL

If you weren't already married w/children I could be in love with you. (Sorry, married men are taboo!) Such a wonderful, witty way of getting to the bare bones truth with humor.

Gifted, I tell you, gifted!!!!

How right you are (always!) this is not rocket science. Just a little common sense would work wonders.

While everything you said is true, my mind came to a screeching halt to think that some supposedly intellegent people (emphasis on supposedly!) could begin to believe that the same "amesty" that was a HUGE failure in the '80s, would be a good thing this time.

But, I have to say that one of the most amazing things I've heard since last evening, after the bill was defeated, was the disappointment that the Senate failed to pass a bi-partisan bill. "Whaaaat??" Brain freeze!!!

I can hear it now. "So, it turned out to be a pretty big disaster, but hey, we passed a bi-partisan bill... so let's have a drink to celebrate Teddy!"

Yeah, that makes sense.

I wouldn't be surprised if Teddy and the other boobs didn't go out for a drink anyway.... drown their sorrows....

george Bush
it would seem that george has opted for early retirement and has left the free world leaderless. Teaming up with kennedy and the dims to push this immigration hoax seems to have fully deflated what little remained of his ego. It seems that with his legacy in the crapper he has lost the will to lead. His continual praise of muslims as the religion of peace shows he can't recognize the danger they present all they demonstrate it almost daily. I guess the best we can hope for it that you serious catastrophe hits prior to a new president being elected. We can only hope that this vacuum doesn't open the door for the missus clinton but her pronouncements about paying more taxes as being patriotic may finally put a pin in her balloon of hope of being the next president as it is becoming more evident she is closer to being a commie than a mere socialist. We are a strong country and will survive all dangers from the outside but being leaderless sends the wrong signals to the blood-cult and I fear that is bushes latest message

Good article by Burt
This is a good article and sums the latest events up really well. If anyone doubts how bad the illegal mmigration problem is, come here to Arizona (but don't stay please) and check things out. The latest survey on the subject found that we have the longest wait times at emergency rooms, in the U.S. Whole industries (including high-paying construction jobs) are being taken over by illegals, and if you're white and don't speak English and want a job in one of these industries, well then you better just forget about it. Then, we have our National Guard troops down at the border unnarmed. We have way too much growth here which wouldn't be so bad if it was just folks moving here from Calif or the Midwest. Something needs to change. I know one thing, McCain needs to go. If I hear him say one more time that the illegals are simply doing jobs that Americans don't want to do, I'm going to puke.

Correction:
Correction: I meants to say if you're white and don't speak Spanish, not English, then forget about getting some of these jobs that have been taken over by the illegals. Just had to clarify!

A New Threat from Communist China

The Bush administration “National Highway Transportation Safety Administration has not pushed for an immediate recall of these defective products. Instead, it is currently squabbling whether Foreign Tire Sales over whether FTS has the funds to pay for the recall.”

Up to 450,000 of the Hangzhou Chinese tires are on the road and they refuse to help with the recall. Do you think our trade with China is out of control?

CNN-And a new threat from communist China. Now it’s defective automobile tires. The U.S. government is aware of the danger and have been for some time now. Why no recall? Why no concern about American consumers? We’ll have that report. Stay with us.

DOBBS: More troubling news about communist Chinese exports to this country. An American distributor now saying almost half a million tires that it imported from China are defective and dangerous, but the company says it can’t afford to conduct a recall.

Now some lawmakers say the Bush administration should step in, take those tires off the road and actually show some concern for American consumers.

KITTY PILGRIM, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Up to 450,000 of the Hangzhou Chinese tires are on the road. They are defective and can cause a crash. But as of now, there is no recall. And the tires are still being sold. The tire brands Westlake, Compass, Telluride and YKS.

Burt you made my Day!
Excellent and very accurate article. I love it!

I am so tired of hearing all the whining leftist liberals state over and over again that a small minority of extremist, mostly republicans, sabotaged this bill. Are they really so stupid or can they just not bear the thought that maybe the public has a voice? A loud one when they get riled up.

I used to enjoy Fox but they are sliding more to the left than I ever expected. On immigration especially. But then Murdoch has lots of big businesses to run and he is contributing to Clinton. I guess maybe that explains it. Do we need another "Fair and Balanced" news show to pull their ratings away? They seem to have gotten way too comfortable.

If I hear Mort K call the people who opposed amnesty racist, nativist, etc., one more time I will not watch Fox anymore.

We still have the internet and talk radio thank god!

Citizenship at least Temporarily Saved
Today I worked with some potential Eagle Scouts on their citizenship merit badges. After the Senate vote I was able to do so with a clear conscience, because citizenship, the bedrock of our staggering Constitutional Republic, was saved from being desecrated by a bunch of greedy and power crazed cretins. If that bill had been passed in any form, our citizenship and the Constitution it supports might as well have been used for toilet paper. Now, we need to keep the pressure on and force our rulers to enforce the laws already on the books about the hiring of criminal invaders, and start their migration homeward.

hadenough37
mort k is foxes way of showing both sides. His problem is that he is a legend in his own mind. Without Fred Barnes propping him up good old mort would fade away into oblivion. I don't know any fox viewers that give him any credibility. His pronounments on the beltway boys are likewise ludicrous

Teddy
Excellent article, as usual, Burt. I especially liked the part about Teddy being a "bottle baby."

For a few days, it looked as if our Senate was controlled by a dictator and the pro-amnesty senators; but "legal" American citizens had the final word.

Quick, someone take that pacifier out of Teddy's mouth and let him cry!!!

Wildwest
Well I realize Mort is the "liberal" but Fred hasn't been holding up the conservative side very much lately. Only Charles has a voice of reason. The times he isn't there it is more like a liberal freefall. Bill too has been dissapointing I'm afraid on this issue at least.

I used to enjoy both sides (except Alan of course) but I just sense a verring from the middle. The wrong way. Maybe just immigration and it will get back to normal.

I hope. I'll be paying attention.

Superb article, glad I kept it for last
A few thoughts deserve mention:

Bush still seems to push for mexican truckers coming into the USA without meeting our standards

The 'inland port city' in Kansas is still a go.

As is the 'highway to slice America in half.'

AND that it will be built and maintained by foreign companies.

There's still a lot to do and so little time. And you notice: I didn't mention that Bush STILL HAS NOT PARDONED THE BORDER PATROL. Not once.

But the government did build a couple miles of fence, which will have to be torn down. Seems they built it INSIDE mexico!

The Writer Responds
I was surprised to find that TH had posted the piece today. Normally they would have held it until Monday, but obviously decided it was of too timely a nature. I must say it gladdens my heart to read the remarks of so many sensible people. I am once again reminded that the wrong folks are in the Senate....not to mention the White House.

And Anne, we may never have Paris, but we'll always have Townhall!

Best, Burt Prelutsky

Burt
Thanks for the timely and pertinent article.

Okay Burt --
but i'm only voting three check-marks on this one, because I'm more with your friend Medved on this.

I agree that if you would have framed it "The Nanny Bill" instead of Amnesty, your cause might have been more believable to me. And it is scary that Reid said the bill will rise again, because unfortunately, there's a great chance Hillary will be President with a Democratic congress when that happens. If you hated this bill, just imagine what that one is going to look like.

GOP
"There are those who thought his reason was political, that he foolishly believed he’d provide the GOP with millions of grateful Hispanic voters."

Like the way ending slavery has provided the GOP with millions of grateful black voters.

Burt, love....
....I do believe you're the only commentator (essayist?) who responds to your public. Decent fellow.
Keep up the good work...hope you always send a copy to GWB & others.

Born here does not give citizenship
Your contention that the constitution needs to be amended so as to not grant automatic citizenship to children born to illegal aliens
here is in error.
The 14th amendment that grants citizenship was writen by Senator Jacob Howard and he specifically mentioned in his own writings that this citizenship of course would not apply to foreigners, aliens and ambassadors. The language does mention subject to the jurisdiction of the United States. Of course, aliens, foreigners ambassadors are not.
Google Jacob Howard. Then inform your politicians that the dumbing down of Americans is working real well.

A Reader Responds
"...the proposition that an infant could benefit from the commission of a crime committed by its parents."

First, I would refer to child as him or her, not "its."

Second, benefitting from a crime is an excellent point.

Third, I have asked numerous times throughout Townhall, "What does it mean to be an American? Simply stepping foot on Our soil? Have We lowered Our standards and expectations that far?"

Good column Burt!
I think the Republicans that supported the bill were either driven by party politics (looking to get some future Hispanic votes to go Republican) or to support business that uses illegal labor.

I think the later it the bigger driving force behind the Republican support.

A few times during the debate I saw the numbers for ICE raids on businesses in the last 7 to 8 years cited by those that were discussing more enforcement of current law, and the number of those raids has dropped dramatically since 2000.

Follow the money and you will have the answers.

I think those that stood against the bill from the beginning should now work to draft a good bill, via proper congressional procedures, that;

* mandates stronger enforcement of the current law

* makes penalties for violations of the laws most violated by illegals and those that employ them more severe

* outlaws sanctuary city type laws & policies and as a penalty for such actions federal funding of any kind would be with held from municipalities that do so

* make those born in the U.S. to non-US. citizens have the citizenship of their parents

* and provides funding for the border fence long enough to span the whole southern and hire more border patrol/ICE agents to pursue those that come here illegally or those that overstay visas

These are but a few of the more important steps we must take for true immigration reform.

The Writer Pays a Return Visit
Seansfm: Just three check marks because you didn't agree with me? If that's the way you're going to be, write your own darn essays.

Ken: It is always tempting to play the history maven, but whatever Sen. Jacob Howard may or may not have written in his journal, the way he wrote the 14th amendment leaves a great deal to be desired. It reminds me of those who claim that the first amendment calls for separation of church and state simply because Jefferson had come up with that rather unfortunate expression in a letter.

"Subject to the jurisdiction of the United States" is a terribly vague term. It would have been much better if he had simply stated that babies born to non-citizens were not to be granted American citizenship simply because they had first seen the light of day in this country.

Have a happy 4th.

Regards, Burt Prelutsky

Citizen Kane?!
While often said to be based on publisher W. R. Hearst, C.F. Kane was a *fictional* character. Dubya's not. The "Rosebud" hypothesis, as presented, doesn't work.

Anchor babies
As Burt's splendid article and subsequent post points out, we need a more sensible and permanent interpretation of the 14th Amendment while we still have a conservative majority on the US Supreme Court. How can this be done? Petitions to the Court can be expensive, but many of us would willingly donate to the cause if someone/some knowledgeable group will take up the cause. No legal residency or citizenship for offspring of illegal aliens!

5 Stars
I give Burt five stars because of the paragraph about Harry Reid. Excellent observation.

The one point I wish to make here is with regard to the Beltway Boys on FNC. It is my hope, and I have written Fred and Mort about this, that they will include themselves next Saturday among the losers on the winners and losers section because of the ridiculous and absurd analysis they did regarding this bill and why it failed. Mort in particular assails those of us who successfully got to our senators as xenophobic and swayed by talk radio. Fred was kinder but he still supported the bill. These Beltway Boys need to get out more and spend a week in middle America.

Ken,
I am curious. You indicate that in Senator Howard's own writings he indicated that the 14th Amendment did not apply to foreigners. Where is this written but moreso, of what value of this if the language is not in the Constitution itself or in some SCOTUS opinion?

I would love to believe that what you say is true regarding its relevance. I just don't think that his writings could have any bearing on the actual amendment.

anchor babies and self-deportation
The 14th amendment was written to guarantee citizenship to freed slaves. Yes, the language could have been clearer, but any reasonably intelligent person understands that the authors of the amendment did not intend that the ability to copulate should be a qualification for American citizenship.

Since birth right citizenship is only a misinterpretation of the amendment, it will only take a law or court decision, not a constitutional convention, to end it. Canada ended birth right citizenship ten years ago, and all the countries of the EU (at last, something they can be role models for) also ended it. In fact, since there are no longer any freed slaves alive, the amendment should simply be declared null and void.

Good column, Burt. I was especially pleased that you included attrition through enforcement. I am sick and tired of listening to Senators and pundits alike (including some conservatives, such as Medved and Hugh Hewitt) pretend that there is no option between the Scylla and Charybdis of mass deportation and amnesty. Kennedy is especially despicable for his wailing about opponents offering no alternative. He is my Senator. All he had to do was read my emails to know that outside the beltway we already know the fairest, and only workable, solution is to convert the incentives to come here into incentives to go home, by enforcing employement laws and witholding free education, health care and welfare benefits -- all of which were never intended to be handed out to illegal aliens.

"Intended".
After all these years apparently there are some here who don't understand that what a legislator "intends" makes absolutely no difference. It is what he SAYS in the written law that is important. And the law SAYS what five citizens who happen to be sitting on the Supreme Court says that it says, and it doesn't say anything else. All other interpretations are null and void.

To my knowledge, the Court addressed this issue only twice in our history. The first time was in the 1890's regarding a chinese child born in California to an illegal immigrant from China. The Court decided that the child was a citizen based on the 14th amendment.

The second time the Court addressed the issue was,I believe,in 1925,with the same result. It has not been in front of the court since.Obviously it is LONG overdue to be adjudicated again.Until it is,in my opinion,we will need a constitutional amendment correcting the situation.A simple law would be insufficient.Though a law would goad the Judicial branch to act.

Like it or not,the Constitution only says what five or more members of the Supreme Court says that it says, and it doesn't say anything else.It is our system.

The amnesty bill
Was stopped by Americans, but that is only for
today.
The votes going to the dem. party & SLP(social
liberal party) are to appealing.
If you dig deep enough, i think you will find
there are people working near the border who are
directing the location they wish the illegals to
be sent.
This operation was set in 1993 thru 1996
There is one person living near me who goes
somewhere(a day or 2) and returns with any where
from 1 to 6 hispnics.
Questions: are they going to "red" states to assure victory. for dems. SLP's
Who is footing the bill for transportation
Who is providing money for them for housing &
buying buildings(remember they are poor) for
businesses
How do they know which state & city they are to
go(they don't know how to get to some small town
in Ky, Iowa or IN.

Great Picture of Dingy Harry
He looks like a pinhead (hmmm............)

Our work is not finished...
We had to stay focused and sweep the threshing floor in the primary elections in 'o8. This amnesty bill failure showed that even freshmen Democrats had the wisdom to flush this one down the toilet. Let Americans be clear about one thing - DO NOT EVER VOTE FOR INCUMBENT POLITICIANS.

If we haven't learned this by now then the alarm raised by an earlier comment in this blog will come to pass. The alarm was a much worse bill with far reaching effects will be passed unless we flush the boobs from the beltway!

Burt, another fine column!
Your reply to Ken was also spot on. The wording of the 14th Amendment is way too vague, especially for those intent on twisting language to affect their desired meaning of the Constitution and laws.

This was the best though: "Harry Reid has vowed that the bill, though severely wounded, will live to rise another day. It reminds you of those scary movies in which the evil creature, apparently dead and buried, suddenly climbs out of its grave. Come to think of it, that also reminds me of Harry Reid."

If only those in congress had your common sense! We can only hope that some will be able to withstand the onslaught of corruption in high places.

Scamnesty RIP
Who objected to scamnesty?

There has been some predictable disingenuous drivel apologia and sophistry about why the scamnesty bill got derailed -->

Myth 1) scamnesty was stopped by conservative Republicans

Actually, 15 'Crats voted against it, which was almost 1/3 of them... even the ethnocentric latino groups were objecting to the parts that would allegedly have enforced our laws... organized labor objected to parts... but MOST IMPORTANT, Middle America despised this travesty.

Fully 15 'Crat Senators voted against this travesty, so it is a facile myth that hard-core conservatives killed it... those votes would have easily passed the cloture.

The quislings also abandoned the best intersts of America:
A number of open borders, NAU RINOS went with it despite the egregious warts. Lindseed Grahamos, Juan McQuisling, Arlen Spectercide, Ricardo Lugar, Burrito Bennett, Amigo Craig, Carlos Hagel, and Juan Kyl all made Faustian deals to sell out America for votes and/or $-- just as Quisling-In-chief Presidente Jorge Jorge (and his minions Carlos Gutierrez, eunuch shill Chertoff, and Mel Martinez) decided to do long ago.

Myth 2) It shows that a small vocal minority can have a disproportionate influence on Congress-- most Americans favored the bill's goals.

Au contraire, regardless of who spoke out to the Senate with righteous indignation, the bill was OVERWHELMINGLY eschewed by those familiar with the details... the disingenuous Grand Bargain power brokers simply turned a deaf ear to Middle America and got thumped as a result:

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/immigration_bill_failure_proves_rasmussen_s_first_law_of_politics

an excerpt:
"The final Rasmussen Reports national telephone poll before the vote found that just 22% of Americans supported the legislation.

Near the end of the debate, supporters of the doomed legislation often stated that the status quo is unacceptable. Most Americans would agree on that point. In fact, they might even hold that feeling more strongly than the Grand Bargainers of the Senate--72% of American voters believe it’s Very Important to reduce illegal immigration and enforce the borders.

But controlling the border was NEVER a focal point of the Senate debate. Instead, the Senators spent most of the time debating the fine points of various approaches to legalizing those who are here illegally. For voters, those topics were DEFINITELY a second-or-third tier aspect of the issue. Only 29% of voters say it is Very Important for “the government to legalize the status of illegal aliens already in the United States.”
************************************************

The Scamnesty bill was a baxtard mix of evil from several agenda-driven groups. The main goal of many in the Senate was to appease two groups: miscreant employers who buy the senators, and ethnocentric latino groups and voters (see unctuous "smilin' Juan" Hernandez, a shill for Vicente Fox, and Geraldo proffering facile myths about "our undocumented friends from Mexico"). Both self-aggrandizing groups have one common goal-- getting more ILLEGALS here. So the Senate and Presidente Jorge play a shell game with America--ALL of the alleged enforcement goals were a FARCE, just as with the 1986 Simpson-Mazzoli Bill. America simply smelled the Trojan horse puckey this time!

Ergo, we would simply get a still bigger tsunami of them, they would vote well before citizenship, the rules would be morphed, and America would go to hello. Miscreant employers KNOW it would be a LONG time before wages would go up, AND that Presidente Jorge and Congress have no REAL intent to crack down on the hand that feeds them-- business bribes/lobbying money. Middle America would continue to subsidize the monstrous pandemic concomitant social pathology costs of the ILLEGAL invaders (crime, drugs, gangs, illegitimacy, dropouts, social service enervation, school decimations via bilingualism, barrio blight, etc. ad nauseam).

THE DECIDERS

Phone lines were blocked! Hurrah! And I helped.

We are the deciders. Let those people in D.C. never forget it. For once, on the 28th, they got it.

President Jorge as Trojan horse
Did you catch Pan-Mexican Quisling-In-Chief Presidente Jorge speaking with acute chagrin about the demise of Scamnesty?! Talk about a lame duck-- he looked like a dead duck! Sometimes we reap what we sow. Jorge told them recently while visiting his amigos in Mexico that he personally would work for THEM on immigration "reform" HERE. He had already surreptitiously agreed on his own to send non-existent S.S. funds (taxed as we go) south to Mexico. He has played a shell game with border security and enforcement-- a wink that was well known to the border crashers. He had had his lackeys persecute and prosecute Campean and Ramos in a show trial with kangaroo justice, in part to influence last year's Mexican election.

Stick a fork in that turkey Jorge-- he is done. Contrary to what some gadfly naysayers have brayed generally and in Washington in shameful red herring fashion, we were NOT "fearful xenophobes". The fear was of our own deceiptful, duplicitous government! There is NO TRUST that Jorge would EVER mean his facile lines about, "Of course, border security and enforcement must come first." we know that thousands of agents have been approved and 800 miles of fence, but NOTHING done. Sell that tripe to the Polish Navy Jorge! We have been down that primrose path with "we will not engage in nation building" and we "will be fiscally responsible." Once burned, shame on you,... twice burned, shame on us!

thank the "good" senators
It is a very good idea to take a few minutes to thank the Senators of BOTH parties who listened to Middle America (though some like that imperious phony toad Voinovich were simply running for cover at the last minute).

This truly was, as some of the astute commentators noted, a GREAT week for the vox populi! Ed Rollins, Lou Dobbs, Pat Buchanan, Bill Schneider and others observed, that it was one of the most significant events in decades.

You can readily reach the Senators right here at their offical sites:

If you want to see who voted how, go right here (the "nays" are the heroes):

Finally, a sample letter (e-mail) below that I sent... [Rasmussen links added here for readers]

***********************************************
Dear Senator McCaskill:

We saw you regularly on TV taking a courageous stand against the flow to oppose the amnesty legislation.

We realize that this is a complicated issue and that there were powerful lobbying forces on the other side. They tried to put lipstick on the pig, but it was still filthy with artful deceptions. Per Rasmussen, even two-thirds of
democrats feel that our highest priority should be stopping the flow of ILLEGAL aliens, and less than 25% of ALL voters are much worried about a path to citizenship for border crashers and visa violators.

If President Bush wanted to, he could live up to his oath of office and enforce EXISTING LAWS: and build 800 miles of approved border fence, hire thousands of border guards, and enforce workplace employment laws. We simply need an Executive Branch that will respond to the clear will of the people. Enforcement FIRST-- then we can demand that ILLEGALS start playing by OUR rules (just like the rest of us have) if they truly want to apply to come back as citizens.

Thanks for your service to America.

Burt
This is one of the funniest, and very accurate, articles I have read in a long time.
Thank You!

Conservative Ron
"I am curious.

I just don't think that his writings could have any bearing on the actual amendment."

Senator Howard wrote the amendment so he should know what it says, no??

Ronsch, what a silly point
So, by your logic:

1 - The good of the Nation takes second place to the good of the party. Sure you are not a lib?

2 - All demographic blocks think and vote alike.

3 - In order to secure the Hispanic vote, we need to change the US demographics for ever.

4 - Likewise, we ought to open our door to every Iranian, Iraqui, Pakistani, Syrian, Lybian, Egyptian who wants to enter. How can the party survive without the Islamic vote?

Have you ever heard of assimilation? Get the people who are legally here now get a clue about how our Country works and why, and perhaps they'll figure out that there's more to voting than choosing a generous sugardaddy.

The notion that we need to change the face of the Country to secure this or that voting block is first of all absurd, secondly suicidal and third it's a spit in the face to the very concept of Citizenship.

Let me type this really slowly for you: if a party needs to resort to illegals to garner support, the problem is not the non-citizenship of the illegals. It is the non-soundness of the party's policies.

Get a clue and do what your base elected you to do, and you'll see if you still need 20 million illegal aliens to do your bidding.

Burt, Bravo
Wonderful article.

It looks like sanity did reign supreme and the bill was thwarted, but it was certainly a close call, too close for comfort.

And affirmative action being abolished is a step in the right direction for every one. Now we can say all men are created equal.

FYI: my leftist parents are flying in from AZ tonight. I have 24 days with them to gently broach the subject of Israel/Palestine. If the right moment comes, I'll pick their brains. Walking through land mines would be less dangerous!

Nightowl

Senator Howard may have written the amendment but it then passed the Congress and a supermajority of state legislatures afteward. What became law was the amendment itself, not Senator Howard's private writings. I would love to believe that a court ruling would indicate such but I would have a hard time believing Senator Howard's private writings mean anything other than his interpretation of the amendment. What was intended by all those who ratified the contract is what is relevant. Imagine if you signed a real estate contract and then at a later date the other party presented his private writings that interpreted a paragraph in a manner contrary to yours. It would not stand up because you signed the contract, you did not endorse his private writings.

Will we remember
Come November 2008 after all the slick campaigning is over and the votes are being cast, will we remember those politicians who tried and failed to give our country away for a few lousy votes? They called us names, treated us rudely, scolded us by telling us we weren't smart enough to understand the complexities of the issue, and finally when that didn't work, attempted to ignore us. They'll be counting on us though, to have a short memory as they vie for our support during this campaign season. Wouldn't it be great if every senator who voted for amnesty, regardless of party affiliation, and who was up for re-election was voted out of office next November. They wanted to gain votes by openly pandering to illegals and their ilk, let's see what happens when real Americans, those of us not smart enough to understand "complex issues," exercise the intellect they don't think we possess and vote the self-righteous bunch out of office.

Ronsch, your assumption is...
...faulty. To assume that the Republican Party can achieve any meaningful percentage of Hispanic voters is to live in a fantasy. 20-30% of the Hispanic vote is the best this present Republican Party can ever hope for. No matter what Republicans do, amnesty, citizenship, no-interest govt. loans, the Hispanics will still vote at least 80% for the Democrats. Therefore, Republicans may as well do what is best for the country than what ciphers, such as yourself, believe will appease the unappeasable.

You have come as close as I have read up to your,
A CIVICS LESSON, late Friday.

Burt uses all the lame excuse for what Bushie and crew have backed in the immigration bill. His Nannie my buttocks, He as many others are part of what I will simply call "the ONE WORLDERS". His support is very simple to see and understand. That bill was an important if not essential part of the plan to re-colonize this country. To create the conditions for the practical elimination of this country. WE are the one big determinant in permitting or not the domination of all countries by the grand philosophy of "what's best for us" is best for them.

If anybody still believes that these conspiracy theories are just bunk; go the back of the room and turn your chairs around to face the back wall. You will be the first to catch the brunt of the assault they wish to make in the "final end run".

There is no other nor need there be another e3xplanation why rational (sic) intelligent persons in authority over us have made a decision to change the face of this country so it can be converted into one giant plantation alo9ng with the rest of the world.

I suppose Hal and Roberto and Lilly and the rest of their ilk either don't get it, or don't want the rest of to get IT. Some perverts actually believe their brand of gentle socialism isn't communism with overlords.

Divide and conquer, words that mean just what they say. There are no doubts in those words. They have functioned since forever to conquer the masses of any country, state or tribes.

What part of the One Worlders strategy don't you understand. They have been at it for some two hundred years, and the tempo is picking up as they sense the times and conditions are nearly ripe. It's all about free trade. Horse feathers. It is all about subjugation.

The creation of a permanent, slave underclass is the goal of the open-borders globalists, the global capitalists, and you would think liberals would not only realize this, but be incensed.
AND: Again
When we look at the illegal-immigration debate through an example of the minimum wage, or other traditionally held positions, we see clearly that liberals in Washington are not liberals and conservatives in Washington are not conservatives. It is time we embrace that fact, recognize that they are treasonous to the sovereignty of the USA and start to work together to throw out all of them, regardless of their façade.

You may think the debate is left vs. right. It isn't. It's top vs. bottom.

The globalists vs. us all

Anna writes: Sunday, June, 24, 2007 9:11 PM
Two America's
The only two Americas we are soon going to have are the super wealthy and the poor.
AND: Again
Part of the plan is to bleed America to raise the standard of living of Mexico. (Some of this is tucked into his current "immigration" bill).

"We are on the verge of a global transformation. All we need is the right major crisis and the nations will accept the new world order" David Rockefeller".
"For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it might cost, I am willing to know the whole truth; to know the worst, and to provide for it" Patrick Henry.
"Fascism should more properly be called corporatism, since it is the merger of state and corporate power." Benito Mussolini.

Gentlemen and ladies, here is where it apparently started which I show as some excerpts from a larger story.
"In 1789; John Robinson warned all Masonic leaders in America that the "Illuminati" had infiltrated into their lodges and on July 19, 1789; David Papen, President of Harvard University, issued the same warning to the graduating class and lectured them on how the influence of Illuminism was acquitting on American politics and religion, and to top it off; John Quincy Adams, who had organized the New England Masonic Lodges, issued his warnings. He wrote three letters to Colonel William L. Stone, a top Mason, in which he exposed how Jefferson was using Masonic lodges for subversive Illuministic purposes.
That disastrous rebuff at the Congress of Vienna created by the Czar of Russia did not by any means destroy the Illuminati conspiracy. It merely forced them to adopt a new strategy realizing that the one-world idea was, for the moment, killed. The Rothschild's decided that to keep the plot alive they would have to do it by heightening their control of the money system of the European nations.

"In 1826; one Captain William Morgan decided it was his duty to inform all Masons and the general public what the full proof was regarding the Illuminati, their secret plans, intended objectives, and to reveal the identities of the masterminds of the conspiracy. The Illuminati promptly tried Morgan in absentia and convicted him of treason. They ordered one Richard Howard, an English Illuminati, to carry out their sentence of execution as a traitor.

"Weishaupt died in 1830; but prior to his death, he prepared a revised version of the age-old conspiracy, the Illuminati, which under various aliases was to organize, finance, direct, and control all international organizations and groups by working their agents into executive positions at the top. In the United States we have Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Roosevelt, Jack Kennedy, Johnson, Rusk, McNamara, Fulbright, George Bush etc., as prime examples. In addition, while Karl Marx was writing the "Communist Manifesto" under the director of one group of Illuminists, Professor Karl Ritter of Frankfurt University was writing the antithesis under the direction of another group. The idea was that those who direct the overall conspiracy could use the differences in those two so-called ideologies to enable them to divide larger and larger members of the human race into opposing camps so that they could be armed and then brainwashed into fighting and destroying each other, and particularly, to destroy all political and religious institutions.

The work Ritter started was continued after his death and completed by the German so-called philosopher Freidrich Wilhelm Nietzache who founded Nietzscheanism. This Nietzscheanism was later developed into Fascism and then into Nazism and was used to foment World War I and II.

"In the final phases of the conspiracy; the one-world government will consist of the king-dictator; the head of the United Nations, the CFR, and a few billionaires, economists, and scientists who have proved their devotion to the great conspiracy. All others are to be integrated into a vast conglomeration of mongrelized humanity; actually slaves.

"It was during the Civil War that the conspirators launched their first concrete efforts. We know that Judah Benjamin, chief advisor of Jefferson Davis, was a Rothschild agent. We also know that there were Rothschild agents planted in Abraham Lincoln's cabinet who tried to sell him into a financial dealing with the House of Rothschild. But old Abe saw through the scheme and bluntly rejected it thereby incurring the undying enmity of the Rothschilds; exactly as the Russian Czar did when he torpedoed their first League of Nations at the Congress in Vienna. Investigation of the assassination of Lincoln revealed that the assassin Booth was a member of a secret conspiratorial group. Because there were a number of highly important government officials involved; the name of the group was never revealed and it became a mystery; exactly as the assassination of Jack Kennedy is still a mystery.

Jacob was the son of a Rabbi who was born in one of the Rothschild's houses in Frankfurt, Germany. I will go deeply into his background. The important point was that Rothschild recognized in him not only a potential money wizard; but more important, he also saw the latent Machiavellian qualities in Jacob that could, as it did, make him an invaluable functionary in the great one-world conspiracy. After a comparatively brief training period in the Rothschild's London Bank; Jacob left for America with instructions to buy into a banking house which was to be the springboard to acquire control of the money system of the United States. Actually; Jacob came here to carry out four specific assignments.
1. And most important, was to acquire control of America's money system.
2. Find desirable men, who for a price, would be willing to serve as stooges for the great conspiracy and promote them into high places in our federal government, our Congress, and the U.S. Supreme Court, and all federal agencies.
3. Create minority group strife throughout the nations; particularly between the whites and blacks.
4. Create a movement to destroy religion in the United States; but Christianity to be the chief target.

"It was in 1908 that Schiff decided that the time had come for his seizure of our money system. His chief lieutenants in that seizure were Colonel Edward Mandell House whose entire career was that of chief executive and courier for Schiff as I shall show and Bernard Berouk and Herbert Lehman. In the fall of that year; they assembled in secret conclave at the Jeckle Island Hunt Club, owned by J.P. Morgan at Jeckle Island, Georgia. Among those present were J.P. Morgan, John B. Rockefeller, Colonel House, Senator Nelson Aldrich, Schiff, Stillman and Vandlelip of the New York National City Bank, W. and J. Seligman, Eugene Myer, Bernard Berouk, Herbert Lehman, Paul Warburg, in short; all of the international bankers in America, all of them members of the hierarchy of the Illuminati's great conspiracy.
"A week later they emerged with what they called the Federal Reserve System. Senator Aldrich was the stooge who was to railroad it through Congress, but they held that railroading in abeyance for one chief reason; they would first have to plant their man and obedient stooge in the White House to sign the Federal Reserve Act into law. They knew that even if the Senate would pass that act unanimously; the then newly elected President Taft would promptly veto it. So they waited.
"In 1912; their man, Woodrow Wilson, was elected to the presidency. Immediately after Wilson was inaugurated; Senator Aldrich railroaded the Federal Reserve Act through both houses of Congress and Wilson promptly signed it and the Federal Reserve Act became law. That heinous act of treason was committed in December 23, 1913; two days before Christmas when all the members of Congress, except for several carefully picked Representatives and three equally carefully picked Senators, were away from Washington.

The Constitutional language on this point is brief, concise, and specific, stated in Article I, Section 8, Paragraph 5, defining the duties and powers of Congress, and I quote: "to coin money, regulate the value thereof, and of foreign coin, and the standard of weights and measures." But on that tragic, unforgettable day of infamy; December 23, 1913, the men we sent to Washington to safeguard our interests; the Representatives, Senators, and Woodrow Wilson, delivered the destiny of our nation into the hands of two aliens from Eastern Europe; Jacob Schiff and Paul Warburg. Warburg was a very recent immigrant who came here on orders from Rothschild for the express purpose of blueprinting that foul Federal Reserve Act.

"Now the vast majority of the American people think that the Federal Reserve System is an United States Government owned agency. That is positively false. All of the stock of the federal reserve banks is owned by the member banks and the heads of the member banks are all members of the hierarchy of the great Illuminati conspiracy known today as the "CFR."
"The details of that act of treason, in which many traitorous so-called Americans participated, are far too long for this reporting; but all those details are available in a book entitled, "The Federal Reserve Conspiracy," written by Eustace Mullins. In that book; Mullins tells the entire horrifying story and backs it up with unquestionable documentations. Aside from it being a truly fascinating and shocking story of that great betrayal; every American should read it as a matter of vital intelligence for the time when the whole American people will finally come awake and smash the entire conspiracy and with God's help; that awakening will surely come.

"It was the Illuminati-controlled mass communications media that has kept and is keeping our people naive and stupid and unaware of the treason being committed. Now the great question is: "when will the people wake up and do to our traitors of today what George Washington and our founding fathers would have done to Benedict Arnold?" Actually; Benedict Arnold was a petty traitor compared to our present traitors in Washington D.C.. Now let's go back to the events that followed the rape of our Constitution by the passage of the Federal Reserve Act and the 16th Amendment. Was Wilson completely under their control?

"Throughout the 19th century, from 1814 to 1914; the world, as a whole, was at peace. Such wars as the "Franco-Prussian," our own "Civil War," the "Russo-Japanese War," were what might be termed "local disturbances" that did not affect the rest of the world. All the great nations were prosperous and the people were staunchly nationalistic and fiercely proud of their sovereignties. It was utterly unthinkable that the French and the German peoples would be willing to live under a "one-world government" or the "Toks" and the "Russians," the "Chinese," or the "Japanese." Even more unthinkable is that a Kaiser Wilhelm or a Franz Joseph or a Czar Nicholas or any Monarch would willingly and meekly surrender his throne to a one-world government. But bear in mind that the peoples in all nations are the real power and the only thing: "war" could make the peoples yearn and clamor for "peace" ensuring a one-world government. But it would have to be a frightful and horribly devastating war. It could not be just a local disturbing war between just two nations; it would have to be a "world war." No major nation must be left untouched by the horrors and devastation of such a war.

Do you, who were man and woman enough, to read these few tidbits of "real" history, still have any questions as to why Bush and crew wanted and will always want this piece of the puzzle completed, the immigration bill.??.

Your convoluted, boring and far-fetched analogy misses the point by a mile.

The reason why we "pre-schoolers" are cheering is because we are smarter than you "post-comatose" and realize the following: far from being an "employee" as only a dolt could believe, the Government is a runaway monster; this runaway monster was going to turn this Country into a 3rd world cesspool AND render citizenship all but meaningless.

This was a frontal attack, and we stopped it.

Here's a short and sweet analogy that even you will understand: you've got a headache, and a dog starts mauling your rear end. Someone stops the dog. You b!tch because you still have the headache. Yep, that's some sound reasoning.

We Have No Right to Close the Borders!
What so many posters miss is the fact that the United States has no right to keep other people out of the country.

The U.S. is akin to a foyer in a fine hotel. People may pass through it at they desire, or they can go to their own private room. Their private room / nation has a door that they can lock to keep out trespassers, but the lobby is meant for all to enjoy. People can lounge in the lobby, take in the majesty of the ornate surroundings, sleep on the comfortable chairs, and leave their garbage behind when they tire of the surroundings.

The U.S. has a duty to allow everyone access, and like the attendees of a hotel foyer, they cannot object when the occupants of the individual rooms enter and hang out. Rather, like bellboys, it is the duty of each American citizen to ensure the occupants of the foyer are comfortable and happy.

Loyal, you forgot... ;-)
...And citizenship is nothing bureaucratic status that, unlike marriage (which is truly meaningless), grants access to a series of freebies paid for by the Hotel Attendees.

A bureaucratic status that can be bargained for votes or purchased by paying "fines" or taxes, because after all, we are not a nation of citizens, but of taxpayers.

And we have no right whatsoever to attach to citizenship any obsolete fuddy-duddy concept like common culture, language, history, values, belief systems, songs, pride, patriotism or "assimilation" (whatever the heck that means). Those are all best left six feet deep, like the dead white imperialists who made them up.

So yes, every Tomas, Ricardo or Enrique (or Mahmud) has a Gaia-Given right to walk in and out, trash the place, expect to be served in their own language and redecorate to their liking--on the Hotel Staff dime.

So long as something makes life better for a citizen of another nation, it is only proper that the citizens of the United States make the sacrifices required to supply it.

The citizens of Mexico have managed to run their country into the economic ground through the election of ineffective and corrupt government officials. Since they are unable to manage their own land, it is our obligation to provide them with the financial assistance they desire to make their lives better.

The United States exists for just one purpose; to provide the world with a dumping ground for its poor and uneducated. Those nations choose not to be burdened with the by-products of their failed policies, so the United States was formed as a place where the downtrodden can be supported financially by the more-abled. As a citizen of the United States, how can you make a statement that it isn't your responsibility to ensure that the citizens of other countries are not happy and financially sound? Your labors should go toward taking care of the needs of others ahead of your own. If your neighbor demands steak and cannot afford it, you should make do with beans and buy him his steak.

Those that can supply owe their labor to those that need. And to protest the diversion of your labor to serve the demands of others is immoral.

you are right. Thanks for showing me the errors of my thinking. Since you have enlightened me I can feel my cold dead heart melting and an overwhelming sense of compassion washing over me. I now think that I should donate my car and my house and my bank account is this worthy effort. I have had sufficient time to enjoy my property and it is only right those less fortunate should get to enjoy them. In fact it would probably be better and more fair if great numbers of us offer to exchange places with those less fortunate who are stuck in their country of origin without a pot to pi@@ in so to speak

If infants could not benefit from the crimes of their parents there would be not Senator Kennedy.

Quin te tu suspendas?
Patrick, do you understand the concept of winning a defensive battle? This is what we did on Thursday.

When the Government goes on the offense against the will of the people, a defensive battle is what is called for. We did nothing in 1986, and we all know the results.

So let me understand where you stand on this, since your posts are all over the place.

Would you have us stand by supinely while Ted Kennedy granted amnesty to another 12-20 million lawbreakers, surely including gangbangers, terrorists and other assorted losers?

Because that's the only certain thing that the happily defunct bill mandated--everything else were vague promises and symbolic expenses.

Besides, if you don't see the value in having sent Washington the single clearest message I've witnessed in my lifetime, there's nothing I can do to persuade you.

And that message is the only reasonable prelude to our lawmakers stepping up enforcement of the current law and/or eventually proposing more sensible legislation.

As usual, a terrific column. Don't forget Senator Kyl, Republican of AZ, who also was pushing the immigration bill!!

Immigration Bill
Burt,
Well Done. I enjoyed every bit of your article.

Lodestar, Dave Stone, Bmadison 2007 and others, great follow up. It's encouraging that so many understand what has happened and why.

I can only respond to once a marine with this. In 1972 I read "None Dare Call it a Conspiracy", by Gary Allen. A cleverly written book , but factually flawed, as are most conspiracy theories. When you look with a clear head, you'll know it's bunk. Try it again.

TIME: Why Amnesty Makes Sense
A recent cover story in TIME suggested it is time for amnesty. I read the facile, vacuous arguments they proffered. I could see this one coming --> two weeks later, TIME'S Inbox was full --> letters broke 90%(!) for: "amnesty makes no sense-- we need to enforce existing laws." TIME, not exactly considered the neanderthal conservatives' favorite fish wrapper, admitted it was, "the biggest mail getter."

When people like Vicente Fox's artful shill Juan Hernandez and Geraldo bray, "Most Americans want a path to citizenship for these good people, our good friends," they are simply proffering the big lie. I actually like it when unctuous "smilin' Juan" Hernandez comes on TV to tell us that ILLEGALS are good for us, and Geraldo says they are not only net benefits, but also LESS prone to crime than citizens. Those tall ones/canards are GUARANTEED to rally Middle America! Middle America has just spoken to Congress as well as to TIME. Fully 72% of us believe that it is a high priority to secure the border and enforce our laws:

Making our place look like their place
So many people tell us what wonderful people these law-breakers are, so we must assume that the place they left has become a great place as a result of all the good work they did before they left.

Did you ever consider what might have happened if Georgie, Tommy, Benny, and those other guys from back in the 1770s had said, "This place is a mess, let's go somewhere else and live it up on their culture."

Isn't it nice to see that these people have brought all their skills and abilities with them, in order to make this a better place. And if you don't believe that, just look at Van Nuys and you can see they are making our place look like their place.

Gabby makes a good point-- Pan-Mexican Presidente Jorge helped make Martinez head of thE RNC (Rino Network for reConquista), but this is helping drive Republicans away from the current RINO Party.

This globalist, open borders, multicultural, bilingual, NAU/SPP, scamnesty (bring them out of the shadows with a path to citizenship) disingenuous drivel tripe is alienating Middle America. The ILLEGAL alien invasion and permeation will destroy America like a cancer destroying the host body UNLESS we radiate it at the source. We need to secure the border and enforce EXISTING laws.

Fully 72% consider this a HIGH priority (Rasmussen) while < 30% care much about a path to citizenship for the serial lawbreakers. It is NOT that "our immigration system is broken"-- au contraire, it is nonfeasance by our government which instead serves as a welcome mat south of the border. Presidente Jorge is the Quisling-In-Chief. WHAT CAN YOU DO?
I don't work
I don't pay taxes
I collect Social Security
I get Medicaid
I can't serve in the Military
I help illegal aliens

A mass exodus, indeed!!
"Those who scratch their heads and ponder the impossible logistics of deporting millions of people make me want to shake them until the marbles come tumbling out of their ears. There is one simple solution, and one that wouldn’t even require the building of a wall. We’d simply make it a felony for anyone to hire illegals. If the potential employee was unable to supply a verifiable birth certificate and social security number, he couldn’t get a job. You would soon see a mass exodus."

Perhaps our social security agency ought to take lessons from FedEx or UPS or heavens, even the US post office allows us to track our mail if we pay a few cents for the service. WHY IS IT SO HARD TO DETERMINE DUPLICATE SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS???? OR more specifically, I hear that some numbers are used 40-50 times!!! One would think the computer would flag the second income reporting IMMEDIATELY! Something is definitely rotten in Washington!!!!
