Poll
Will Congress pass Obamacare by the end of the year?

Here’s the deal, guys. We’re all conservatives, here. And, the Democrats are just waiting, praying even, for us to sit around and do nothing this election cycle. You know why?

Speaker Pelosi.

Yeah, cue the “Psycho” theme, right? Those harsh chords on the violin are our warning. We must do something.

Speaker Pelosi is what’s before us if we sit on our hands. I didn’t want to think about it either, but it’s true. Many are saying the House is in serious, serious danger, and the Senate may be, too. I’m not even going to address Senate leadership should Republicans lose control, because it makes me shudder so much, I can’t type properly, and that wouldn’t bode well for the remainder of this column.

Here’s the good news. You knew it was coming, right? You can do something, and it’s easy. The Rightroots team, of which I’m a member, has picked 21 competitive Republican candidates in House and Senate races all over the country. You can donate to any of them and all of them in one convenient place.

And, we need your help, Townhall readers. If I know you guys, you’re not the kind to sit around while Speaker Pelosi goes from mere nightmare to nightmarish reality.

So, go on over and take a look at our list of candidates. There are a ton of good ones, and the list gives you the opportunity to make a difference on a national level, even if there is no pivotal race in your state.

And, if you’re feeling the itch to get involved this election cycle, but not really sure where you’re gonna fit in phone-calling, and door-knocking, just click on over and make your donation and your difference right now, while you’re sitting at your desk. It will take just a few minutes, and even the smallest donation can make a difference in a lot of these close House races.

We’ve got Mike Bouchard taking on “Dangerously Incompetent” Debbie Stabenow in Michigan. We’ve got Diana Irey taking on Jack “Condemn the Marines as Cold-Blooded Murderers Before Their Trial” Murtha in Pennsylvania. We’ve got Michael Steele taking on the entire Democratic establishment in Maryland. We’ve got Thomas Kean taking on Democratic corruption in New Jersey.

When it comes to some of these races, particularly Michigan and New Jersey, Townhall readers have the unique chance to turn these important Senate seats from blue to red with just a couple bucks. Can you feel it? You know you want to jump in, get that good ol’ Daschle-toppling feeling of days gone by.

This week, we want to get 100 donations for each candidate on our Rightroots list. With 21 candidates, it’s a challenge, but one we can easily meet with the help of dedicated Townhall readers. If you’ve been thinking about donating, and just haven’t gotten around to it, or, if you’ve been thinking you don’t have much to give, don’t sweat it. We want you involved. Every little bit can help, especially in a tight House race.

In the past week, the Democrats have threatened ABC’s broadcast license because the network aired a docudrama that called into question the legacy of the Clinton years. They’ve accused Republicans and the President of politicizing 9/11 simply by observing it. And, one of the Dems’ Hollywood buddies said, “radical Christianity is just as threatening as radical Islam in a country like America.”

Do we want these guys in charge? They’re counting on you to do nothing in ’06. You can dash their hopes by pitching in on the Rightroots effort, right now, right there from your computer.

Thank you so much for your help. I wouldn’t ask you if I didn’t think our Townhall readers were up for it. These candidates are solid candidates who share your values. I’d be honored and appreciative if you’d consider giving them a hand.

Speaker Pelosi? Surely, we can prevent that.

If the Republican Senate can't even vote to pass a sensible immigration bill, then they don't get my vote this fall. If they can't listen to their constituents, then they don't have any business being in the senate. This will be their lesson to learn from.

On another note, Mary, please learn proper English, we aren't all 'guys' here.

catattack
The use of "guys" is not a "male" connotation. Put the claws back in. And, consider just how horrible listening to a Nancy Pelosi as Speaker would be instead of worrying about "words". At least Mary Katherine Ham is trying to do the right thing. Last, we're staring nuclear conflagration in the face and you're worried about immigration. Keep your eye on the prize. We do not need Democrats in charge.

Rightroots
catattack is saying if she can't get 100% of what she wants on one issue she wants nothing. Kind of like Arafat when he was offered about 90% of what he wanted and turned it down.

I just made my donation and posted it on my blog Hang Right Politics.

Mary Katherine, I quoted you extensively in the post, but I thought you wouldn't mind.

I'm with catattack
on the immigration issue. I think a lot of people both in and outside the party are almost completely unaware of what illegal immigration is doing to the country. The "big tent" partisans don't seem to care what it is doing to our culture and national cohesiveness. Major changes are happening, and most them are patently negative, and they are NOT reversible.

RINOs
I would like to see all the Democrats deported but I am concerned that George W Bush, the RINOs and the Democrats will push "compassionate" issues in his last two years. Being from Texas, I knew George was not a conservative but I still voted for him anyway. What a mistake. If he had lost the first race, maybe the party would have realized they had to stand for conservative values. I will not support my senators but I will support my congressman. I do not intend to vote for the so called republican governor as his is a bush clone. The current leadership of the party must go. I am okay with losing the senate but I do not want to lose the house.

Newsspeak
"Rightroots"? Don't you get it, conservatives and liberals want something other than slogans and this is nothing more than the same old product in a different package.

The use of slogans and spin to gloss over ineffective leadership is an era that is over. People learn, and as they become more media-experienced, they reject such superficial manipulations.

Which is why appeals like this are so misguided: they appeal to the least media-aware segment of the society. And a political movement based on manipulating the most uninformed voters of the society, is why democracy doesn't work in some third-world countries----uninformed voters are too easily manipulated.

The shrill and mean-spirited nature of articles like this are why conservatives are getting a bad name.

Demise of the Nation
My prediction should the dim's attain control of the House. It'll be even faster should they get control of both Houses.

You can tell your Rightroots people this
I agree with catattack. Its time to take the Republicans to the wood shed. It may take this election and the one in '08, but the Republican party will become the minority party, and deservedly so. They have done it to themselves, and no shaking of Pelosi or any other Democrat bogie man is going to stop if from happening. It is absolutely fool hardy to give the finger to those who put you in power and not expect them to remove you from power.

There are many self identified types of conservatives...you know, the hyphenated variety...IE FISCAL conservative, what ever that is, or its flip side companion, the SOCIAL conservative. These types in my opinion tend to think the end justifies the means, such as the current hyperbole 'we must keep the Dems out of office. There is another breed of conservative that I call the full pattern conservative. WE...yep, WE are the largest conservative voting block and without our support the party cannot obtain or retain power. We put the party in power in '94 because they stood for issues we agreed with. Today they stand for nothing save elect or re-elect R's. Not good enough and conservatives will not support the Republican party as it exists today.

For those 'hyphenated conservatives this may not be easy to understand, but the conservative base provided power to the party based on its stand of principles we agreed with. We consider those principles as lines in the sand that cannot be crossed without paying a penalty for having done so. That penalty will be applied starting election day '06 and will continue in '08 if the '06 losses doesn't get the message out to party leadership. The thought of the Dems being back in power turns my stomach, but the status quo is unacceptable. The longer the corrective measures are delayed the harder it will be to apply them. NOW is the time to discipline the ungrateful party of the elephant, and November 7th is the day.

ZIggy
Actually, I'd say fiscal conservatives have the most reason to be disenchanted. I've been completely disillusioned about Republicans since 2002. I'm just glad I'm not a Republican (although the only Independant I've ever voted for was myself...)

The elections
Anyone who stays home on election day is misguided to say the least. I was never a straight ticket voter, but, seeing the smear merchants and destroyers that the Democratic Party has become the GOP is the only game in town for me.

On immigration, several towns across the country are passing local ordinances to protect their constituents from the ravages of illegal immigration. Hazleton, PA, Clarkesville, TN and Farmers Branch, TX are passing ordinances to fine landlords and businesses who deal with illegals while making English the only language. It appears that there may be as many as 500 other towns at various stages of doing the samre thing.

Want to do something? Start pressuring your local politicians to pass legislation similar to Hazleton's. If we wait for the Feds, we will all be speaking Spanish!

Disappointed with Republicans et al
No matter how you slice it, as justifiably mad as you want to be at the RINO's and turncoat Republicans, whatever you want to call them, if you consider punishing them by letting the criminal Democrats be the majority party, how long do you think it will be until they sell us out to the UN and the European lillylivers. And, do you want to continue to listen to Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Teddy Kennedy leading our country, you must be crazy. Democrats are traitors to the country, they have lost all right to be given a chance to do further harm to the country, aided by the NYT.

Who gets punished? We do!
For all the talk I hear from some folks about how disenchanted they are with Republicans and are thinking about voting for Democrats to "punish" the GOP, I can only say that punishing the Republicans will ultimately punish only ourselves.

The Democrats, for all their harping about the shortfalls of the Bush Administration, can't bring themselves to admit the bitter truth: they're weak on national defense and soft on terrorism. As badly as the Republicans may wage the War on Terror, THEY AT LEAST WAGE IT. THE DEMOCRATS WILL WAGE IT NOT AT ALL, AND THE AMERICAN PUBLIC KNOWS THIS.

Speaker Pelosi? Not if I can help it!

Another ray of hope!
The town council of Herndon, VA voted to use taxpayer money to build a center for illegals.

The next election members who voted for the project were voted out of office!

Hats off to the voters of Herndon, Hazleton, Clarkesville and Farmers Branch!

Missed the point...
Catattack and Ziggy both missed the point.

You were being asked to support those Republican's who are running that you think are the kind of leadership that you want...not just Republican's in general.

I don't agree
with the people that are blaming republicans for not getting a conservative agenda passed. The GOP has tried so many times to get immigration enforcement, drilling in ANWR, and other agendas passed but it is always filibustered! If we could on elect a filibuster proof majority in the Senate things would change. I don't know how the heck anyone can think that electing dems is going to improve the situation. Remember this: once they get power they will start passing legilation that will ensure they stay in power for a long time. They'll tax us to death, they'll force companies to unionize, let the trial lawyers run amok, and if you're worried about immigration, they will open our borders to the point where 10 million more will come each year! Do not stay home this election cycle - the consequences are unimaginable.

Rightroots
I have voted Republican for 60 years in the belief that they meant what they said. They lied to me and to you, too.
Yes, Nancy Pelosi is a horrible prospect to face but so is what is happening to us now.
I have voted for the lesser evil in the last two elections. It doesn't work and I will not do it again.

Ziggy - well said!
Ziggy writes: "We put the party in power in '94 because they stood for issues we agreed with. Today they stand for nothing save elect or re-elect R's. Not good enough and conservatives will not support the Republican party as it exists today."

A big shake up is long overdue and would wake up the Republicans to return to the Grand Old Party they once were with Reagan.

uwcharlie - 'guys' is slang and sloppy English. A serious writer or journalist shouldn't use 'guys' (there is a 'you' plural). Anyways I said to Mary "on another note" and "please" (I have been declawed).

jeanette - there are many other issues that I am dissatisfied with the Republican party (which I voted for). How insane to use Arafat as a comparison. Bush has been caving into the democrats and I don't understand why when we have the majority of the house.

catattack
You sound like someone I would agree with on nearly every issue. (The few others, well, we might negotiate, or I'll live with it, etc, etc.)

So how about it? Are you running for political office? Will I have a chance to vote for you? Will anyone have a chance to vote for you?

We have waaaay too many RINOs in the House and Senate - and, on immigration, also in the White House! Seems to me the first thing we have to do to change THAT is to have more true conservatives running. Let us vote for you!

turn the country over to the Democrats?
There ARE some conservative Republicans in the House and in the Senate, just not enough to make a decent majority - particularly a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate. Have you noticed in the last two years - or four years - how much good legislation has passed the House, then died in the Senate while the Libs (Democrats AND RINOs) filibuster?

Illegal Immigration provides an excellent example - the House just passed a fairly strict borders-enforcement-only bill. The Senate got hold of it and put in amnesty for those already here. One way or another, the Libs are doing everything they can to get more illegals here, and more of them staying longer, and more of them eventually becoming citizens, so that THEY can vote for the Libs. (What a lovely - excuse me while I puke - thought!) The Libs have seen some writing on the wall, and they know that they aren't going to get everything they want, so they've decided to get what they can. While we're punishing the Republican Party, how much gunk legislation are the Libs going to pass?

Can we change that? Put more conservatives in, especially replacing any Liberals - either Democrats or RINOs?

I make no distinction based on the letter (D or R, or even I) after somebody's name. What matters to me is the way they vote - and, of course, it gets complicated, because there are several categories (Tax cuts, Pork Barrel, Immigration, excessive regulations, etc, etc), and each legislator may vote conservative on some and liberal on others. But when we find one who votes the way we like most of the time, let's keep him/her, and bombard him/her - with faxes, phone calls, letters, telegrams, any means of communication - concerning those issues where they get wobbly-knees and are likely to cave to the Libs.

Additionally...
Contributions are the lifeblood of any successful campaign but, so to, are good legislative proposals. For example, illegal immigration will suck us dry and the nation will implode from an overabundance of multiculturism and diversity if nothing is done. It is essential, therefore, that the Repubs push through a proposal that will SECURE THE BORDERS. Hello! Forget a "comprehensive" immigration program for now. We can do all the "touchy feely" stuff later. For now the key word is enforcement, by heavily armed militia if necessary. Secondly, we ought to plant a metaphorical IED in the lobby of the DNC by pushing for an adoption of the FAIR TAX Act. The public already supports such a concept if the polls are a true indication, and it would launch the GOP on a juggernaut heading into November. Sort of the way Slick Willie raced to the Oval office, bible in hand, on an Easter Sunday some 8 years ago, looking for a Lewinsky. If nothing else it would be sheer joy to watch the Kennedy's and Durbin's of this world literally explode in apoplectic spasms when they realize their dream of controlling the social agenda through higher taxation and distribution of income collapses like a French defense force.

Michael -
Sorry, I'm not running for office, I'm on a long hiatus in another country.
"Rinos" - cute word - I guess it refers to tired, old republicans whose wobbly-knees cave-in to the dems and libs?

Maga dittos to... IF STUPIDITY HAD WINGS
Way to put it out there lokietek. And, Hooah, NRAlifer, joel482, oldman, and Porcupine!

Folks we can't fall for any of that suicidal, lame, bravdo, "Kick the Bums out!"

Yes, we need to shake up a lot of the Republican office holders, and rub their faces in "Majority Party 101". But, to not vote to prove whatever, or worse, to crossover, and vote in more Reeds, Shumers, Kerry's, Kennedys, Pelosi's, ad nausium, will NOT give us desired results. It will, however, have Islamofacists dancing in the streets.

WE voters are the ones that need the 'wake up call'. We must understand our responsibilites don't end at the polls. We need to relentlessly stoke hot incentive fires under those we put in office.

Our leaders at all levels of government need to know that WE ARE IN THAT OFFICE WITH THEM!!!

Let's get off our butts, and stop believing that just yelling back at the TV, while watching Fox News, is somehow getting the job done.

One nice thing
about or system of voting is that we all get to do it our way no matter who disagrees with us or for what reason they do. The ends of keeping the bogie Dems out of office does not to me justify the means of returning an arrogant Republican party to congress as the majority party. When the party leadership deems their judgment to be the superior one and interferes in primaries to the point of attacking conservative candidates, its time for them to go. Before its said they were only supporting incumbents let me pose two questions. Why would incumbents be preferred over a challenger by party elitists? Who the candidate is is for the voting public to decide, not self appointed "doing what's best for the party" types. Its only in THEIR opinion what they are doing is what's best for the party and they don't hold a right try and impose their judgment. Yet in the Specter race of '04 they attacked the conservative contender (Toomey or Tooley I think). Their actions of strong arming support for Specter from Santorum has now put Santorum at risk of being defeated and his seat going to a bogie man Democrat...If it goes Dem, the white house and the Party will have done it....gooooood job, say what? In Chaffee's attempt to win the primary, once again they attacked the conservative candidate, plus saying if Chaffee lost they'd take their ball and go home...Read...we won't support the peoples choice.

The second point I'll note, is that its NOT only in support of incumbents...I think it was Arizona district 8 that they attacked the conservative candidate also, and that is an OPEN seat....

There are more examples of Republican party elitists misconduct, but I think everyone has the idea.

Three months ago the party didn't believe the conservative base wouldn't support in November because they'd shake the bogie man Dem at them and scare us to the polls...WRONG...

Three months ago the party leadership arrogantly decided the conservative base wasn't really a problem to overcome. They'd do a little election year posturing and that would get us there, no problem...WRONG

So, we were treated to a well publicized ICE raid netting 1100 plus illegals....yeah, right on, etc etc...phooey...the rest of the story is that all but a hand full were released within hours...Yesterday I watched the house debate and pass a bill saying a fence at the border should be built. Building it wasn't MANDATED, nor was it FUNDED....no money to do it...since all bills dealing with expenditures constitutionally has to start in the house, why wasn't the funding for the wall included in the bill? Election year posture candy to the conservative base, who if they eat it will be told the day after the election to shove off and shut up for the next 18 months until '08 election day nears....then its kiss the conservative butt for a few weeks to get their votes, then shut up again from the RINOS and Rockefeller Republicans.

So be it....they named the game, its my time to score...Come November 7th

ziggy and others....
willing and determined to put principle ahead of politics and not support RINOs, go for it. At some point in time, we have to fix this train wreck and the longer we wait, the harder it will be. Unfortunately, the world today moves a lot faster than it did 100 or 200 years ago. With TV and jet planes and computers, the libs can create a lot more havoc in a week than the worst politicians could in an entire term 50 years ago. I think the comment to focus on the candidate and not the letter after his name is a good one. Blindly voting for republicans may have given them the majority of seats, but it sure didn't solve any problems.

And Austindawg? Who is your rep? Obviously not Doggett. Are you fortunate enough to be represented by Ron Paul? Mine is Lamar Smith, not too bad. The TX gubernatorial race is indeed a cluster.

Rightroots commentary
Mary. Katherine Ham has a great idea, too. Send money! But,...........

If Conservatives are not feeling pressured, they are not paying attention. There is a high tech propaganda effort by the Liberal Democrat Left using a willing and cooperative media to intimidate Conservatives into staying home on election day.

Conservatives have been repeatedly and abundantly warned by pollsters and political handicappers that Republicans will lose both House and Senate to the Democrat liberals because of Republican missteps, immigration, the war on terror. I am extremely concerned that Conservatives will just throw in the towel and sit out the next election.

The Left’s primary weapons in its propaganda campaign continue to be criticism of every policy of the Bush administration, hate for President Bush personally, anger about Bush winning the Presidency in 2000, and destruction of every idea that is not consistent with the Democrat’s desire to return to power. An obedient media compounds this with negative news about the economy, the war on terror and the culture in general. All of which confirms what many on the political right, moderates and centrists have been saying about the liberal left: that the Left hates America and American values, and particularly in the current cycle, are capable only of criticism, hate, anger and destruction.

Now the Left wants to separate the war in Iraq from the war on terror, but, we have waited in vain to hear their plan for Iraq or the war on terror ..... except, of course, the “cut and run” plan.

There are only two answers to this for Conservatives: ignore the propaganda, and resolve to turn out in great numbers to support and vote for any candidate who stands for Conservative principles and who values our freedom, our traditional culture, our way of life. The alternative is to be governed by Democrat extremists who will weaken our defense against Islamic terrorism, and purge Conservative ideas as a factor of political discourse.

There can be no disagreement that it is an important election. A reaction by Conservatives to stay home on election day would be exactly the wrong thing to do. The work of building the Conservative consensus must be continued, and that cannot be done by staying home. The Democrats believe they have the election locked up and power will shift next November. A Conservative and Republican turnout is the only thing that can prevent a sharp Left turn in 2006 and 2008.

What to do
The GOP has a serious problem, mainly because many loyal voters are confused as to which action will have a more damaging impact on our country. It's my opinion that the most threatening danger our country faces today is NOT terrorism, but in fact it is illegal immigration.

With millions pouring across our borders each year, most lacking even a high school education, and adding to that the goals of groups such as La Raza and the Mexican mafia ... Americans should NOT be as concerned with losing this next election as they should be about losing every election from here on out.

IF the borders are not secured, and IF illegal immigration is not controlled, and IF 30 million illegal aliens are given amnesty and in turn ... VOTING RIGHTS ... what is the future impact any of us will have with out votes.

So this is the problem we face. Our REPUBLICAN leaders are IGNORING our wishes and counting on our fear of liberals to force us to remain loyal. I've been asking people at WorldsReality.com to send in bricks and the fake Bush Peso to any GOP candidate asking for money, along with a note saying they will not get our votes until the border is secure and amnesty is voted down. But I do fear a liberal takeover.

At this point, I have not made up my mind what is the best action to take on election day, but I know that there is simply no way I can cast a vote for any candidate who supports amnesty of any kind, or open borders.

I urge everyone to support Tom Tancredo and do everything they can to convince your candidates they will NOT have your vote unless the border and amnesty issues are dealt with.

It's going to be an extremely tough choice. La Raza, or Hezbollah? Will there be much difference?

Disappointed in GOP, but...
Yes, I'm disappointed with the GOP and with GWB on a number of things... immigration, ANWR, lack of a spine when it comes to majority rule, etc. I am one who, for a while in the summer, would have answered "no" to the question "Do you approve of the job Pres. Bush is doing?"
Having said that, it makes no sense whatsoever to withhold your vote or, worse, to vote for the opposition to punish the party that is still the better overall option for the leadership and defense of this country. In such a charged environment as the one in which we live today, such a vote or no-vote may, in the short term, teach the GOP a much-needed lesson, it is true. Longer term, it would be two solid years before we could do anything about it, though. Those two years could utterly destroy this great country. Think of it in economic terms with a cost-benefit analysis. There is a benefit to your actions, yes, but consider the prohibitive costs we'll all have to pay for at least two years!
The whole point of MKH's article is to say that these potential representatives and senators will make a difference. Some may be RINOs (Republicans In Name Only) but will still pad the numbers in the right direction. Others are true believers in conservative principles. Both will make a difference. Even those who will make a difference only by having a name with an R next to it and their bottoms seated on the right side of the aisle will make a difference by muting those "violins" heralding the arrival of Pelosi and Reid as majority leaders. Do you think it's bad now? Wait and see what happens if conservatives vote to punish.
Do you not like your GOP representative or senator? That's why we have primaries! Yes, it's difficult to "primary" someone, but it is not impossible; even the Democrats have proven that, sadly, with Ned Lamont! Frankly, I think that, if you are a true conservative, you disagree with your RINO or otherwise weak elected official, and you did not support or actively seek to support conservatives in your primary, you have given up the right to complain about the people you still should be electing for the good of the country now. It's too late for that.
Do you think you could do better? Throw your name into the hat next time, convince your friends and neighbors of your worth, and campaign like crazy! Diana Irey in PA is doing just that, and she may well be poising herself to pull off the most unimaginable upset this country has seen in ages. As for an unsuccessful candidate, Laffey still must have given Lincoln Chafee quite a scare and a loud message to consider for his next term in office. Other voters bailed him out this time, but, if he doesn't consider that message and change, he'll be out next time.
With all due respect to those who feel they should punish the GOP, think long and hard about your actions before you stay home or pull the DNC lever in November. Such logic is dangerous to the safety of all who live in this country, and I consider defending that safety to be my moral obligation. I will do so with my votes for my representative, Chris Smith, and my future senator, Tom Kean. I will further do so by speaking to friends and neighbors and speaking out against the idea of punishing bad with worse when I see it espoused.

Kimberly the mole
Kimberly, please return to your DailyKos treefort where you belong. You won't be convincing anyone in here that Pelosi is anything other than Satan.

Kimberly the mole
Kimberly, please return to your DailyKos treefort where you belong. You won't be convincing anyone in here that Pelosi is anything other than Satan.

DON'T LOOK NOW..
But MKH is right, this once great nation is falling fast. And the drastic slide started during the eight years of the Donkeys not paying attention. So to punish the GOP by not voting for them is the same as the old saying biting off your nose to spite your face. As Gregor mentioned, the GOP better be feeling some extreme pressure right about now, but for them to just sit back and hope that column writers such MKH is enough to get them off the hook, they better think again. They have screwed up and screwed up big time, and they deserve as much pressure as we can possible lay on them, right through election day. All politicians realize that we have the POWER OF THE VOTE, and it scares the hel out of them. They need to continue to feel the pressure, and work their fanny's off and show their constituents that they deserve our votes. Visit http://www.headsneedtoroll.org and post your views, thoughts and opinions.

PUNISH WHOM?
I try not to get too hysterical about this stuff. If the Dems only controlled one house of congress, they couldn't pass a law and we'd still have the veto. But there are a few issues that would gridlock the nation if Speaker Pelosi and her gang were able to control the debate in the House...

War on Terror limits and forced timetables
Impeachment proceedings
Re-debate of DOMA
ANWR
Kyoto
Tax increases
Increased abortion rights
Legalized political correctness
Did I mention impeachment proceedings

Argue all you want about punishing the GOP candidates. But if you dare to vote for a dem or sit out (the same thing) you're punishing yourself.

I think the Repubs have done enough to ignore their core, but I'd rather have that than the dems having a chance to please their core.

catattack, concerning RINOs
Sorry, no, I've seen it so many times in print, even heard it a few times on talk radio, that I thought everybody knew this term by now.

It stands for R_epublican I_n N_ame O_nly - meaning that they bear the label "Republican", but if you look only at their voting record, you would think they were Democrats.

I suppose there's a corresponding term, DINO, for Democrats who vote like Republicans, although (1) they are much rarer (Joe Lieberman was one; look what happened to him in the primary) and (2) I'm not sure that I've ever actually seen "DINO" in any news article, editorial, post, etc.

lsit of prospects
The senatorial list is a bit short, or terse for the really educated. I failed to see John Corker on that list. I couldn be because he is from a southern state, could it? I remember the Florida vote fiasco, too, but you have to remember, it was the Democrats who couldn`t figure out how to use a punch card type vote. They were all hanging like, well like chads. In these times we all need a little humor. That is about as little as it gets.

There's more you can do
Nobody should be voting for a Dem., but we should also be committed to replace all RINOs. Any Republican candidate who supports amnesty should be voted out in the primaries, if not this term ... no later than the next.

There are easy ways to get our message out. Details of what every one of us should be doing are up at http://www.worldsreality.com as well as http://www.invadingamerica.com .

Everyone do their part. I guarantee you all the liberal fanatics are doing theirs.

Gregor..LOL
Treefort!! Love it.

I'm with most of you on this issue. As much as I'd love to send a message to the GOP by voting Democrat, I'm not into cutting off my nose to spite my face.

NRAlifer is right. We have to work within the party for change.

RINO's
I'd rather have a RINO in congress than a socialist-democrat.

To fail to vote, or to vote for a socialist, would be self-defeating. The neo-socialists in the Democratic Party are hoping you'll do just that.

Haven't you noticed that the Dems have absolutely NO ideas? They propose no policy, domestic or foreign. All they do is scream HATE BUSH and CUT&RUN. They want the American voter to say, "We need change, so I'll vote for somebody else", not realizing that the "somebody else" is a socialist.

Re Dino's
A quick look at Lieberman's voting record shows he's no DINO. His only deviation from the Democratic party line was to support Bush in the WOT.

The democrats don't tolerate dissent of any kind.

Things Can Get Worse with Dem Takeover
Catattack,

If you disapprove of the present Republican leadership, take out your dissatisfaction during the primaries, that's their purpose. Go pick out a Republican candidate that will vote for strong immigration laws and work to get them elected as the Republican candidate. Take positive actions will fix the problem not negitive ones that can only harm you.

Divorcing the family won't solve the problem. Especially if you intend to remarry an alcoholic wife-beating psycho who will murder your children and bury them in the basement (sounds like a Pelosi moment doesn't it?).

Also a question for MK

I don't like to put credit card numbers on the net, and would like to donate by mail. I didn't notice a mailing address on the site. Would you post one for us? Thanks

minority party
I waited and voted for years and years longing for the day that the Republicans controlled the House, the Senate and the White House. As far as I am concerned the Republican Party can take a long walk off a short pier. I will not vote for a party that does not have principles. The Republican Party supports Joe Lieberman, Lincoln Chaffee, Arlen Specter, John McCain - I'm supposed to vote for this party. As a minority party the Republicans will do their best work. I'm sick of words. I've listened to Republican rhetoric for 30 years. What did it get us: A President who sends our soldiers to die so Iraq can have Sharia Law - a president who calls the most vile and violent religion on the face of this planet - the religion of peace. They want peace, all right, a piece of each one of us.

Not one dime.
I’ve had with these arrogant A**holes.

I too have voted for the lesser of two evils and I will do so again, but I refuse to contribute one dime to these fat-cat career politicians.

We know the Democrats are out and out socialist, but the Republicans, especially in the Senate, have to be some of the most arrogant, out of touch with the people that put them there crowd, I have ever witnessed.

What happened to the notion of less federal government? What happened to less spending? What have the Republicans done to reform Social Security? What have they done to get rid of the IRS and implement the fair tax? What have they done to ensure that sane judges are put on the bench? They haven’t done jack, that’s what.

Granted I am a Libertarian, so I don’t tow the Republican line anyway, but the Republicans are traitors to all of the people that showed them support in hopes of putting this country back on the road to following the Constitution as it was written.

I’m so disgusted I just want to opt out of even caring about politics anymore. No way will I contribute to these thieves.

I'm Sorry Guys
But the RINO's have got to go. Why torture ourselves re-electing RINO's who vote Democrat? We need to vote them OUT. If the Dems get the House or both houses for 2 years, then it will be a bitter pill but something MUST be done. I know that a lot of mischief can be done in 2 years but, hopefully, a wiser electorate and a chastened Republican Party can start rebuilding. The road would be dark and hard but the path they are taking now is worse. In 2 years perhaps the people will see what is the ultimate goal of the Dems and the RINO's and will be able to repair the damage. On the current course, damage repair will not be possible. With the borders wide open to anyone willing to walk a few miles and with the RINO's sabotaging their own party we are headed towards defeat and a new dark ages.

Buck wants to "vote out" . . .
the RINO's.

And elect Democrats, Buck?

I'm sure the Democrats would like that, but as a Republican I can't for the life of me see how that would improve the situation.

Gutless leaders
Would you believe the U.S. Air Force Secretary made the following statement regarding a high-power microwave device being developed as a weapon.
"If we're not willing to use it here against our fellow citizens, then we should not be willing to use it in a wartime situation?

The Secretary of the United States Air Force wants to test weapons we intend to use on the battlefield on U.S. citizens? Why, because he worries about world opinion. Has this guy lost his mind? I submit he is nuts and should resign...we don't need more spineless, weak-knee, gutless arm-chair "deciders" making stupid policy while our warriors fight for their lives.

Aircraft (Drones) find hundreds of Taliban in the open and military/civilian leadership won't fire on them because it's a funeral procession? Hello Washington!!! Wake up...we are in war...we kill the enemy when we find them. I think I've heard it all and along comes more idiotic war policy.

If anyone watched "Path to 9/11" and if it's close to being accurate, we can believe our leadership is focused on absolutely nothing beyond political considerations...they simply don't care about taking the enemy out or saving the lives of American troops.

Nearly 3000 men and women have now been killed in Iraq with tens of thousands wounded...does the United States government expect to see another 3000 or 5000 or 50,000 killed while we hold our big weapons safely in bunkers in the United States. Why do we have weapons that will win wars if they are never to be used? Over 50,000 lives where sacrificed in Viet Nam while the politicians and anti-war elements whined, squealed, talked, made deals, and allowed North Viet Nam to win a war without winning a single battle on the ground. Is that where we are heading in Iraq?

We know Iran, Syria, and other sovereign countries are supporting Iraq terrorist butchers, yet Iran and Syria are not held accountable for the killing of our men and women in Iraq. Where are the guts in American leadership to do the right thing for Americans and "to he11" with what the world thinks.

Thank God President Truman had the guts to use the atomic bomb on the Japanese...and he didn't care what the world would say, he wanted to end the war...some may say "oh that's a different situation"...I say the situation is exactly the same with regard to what the Islamic fascist enemy see as their projected outcome...it's no secret, Islamic leaders tell us nearly every day their goal is to kill Americans. If the United States does not take aggressive action against the Islamic fascists in Iran and Syria, America will be defeated...again.

President Bush talks a good game regarding the Islamic fascist but does he really understand what he is saying? Does he really understand the mentality of these barbaric killers? I don't think so, otherwise American power would be used in such a devastating manner that Iran would shine like a new mirror and Syria, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Jordan, Egypt, and all the rest would be begging for American friendship.

Throw the bums out?
We have a War on Terror. The economy is doing well. The voters are getting positive reactions from Congress on issues such as Earmarking and Immigration, but this isn't enough!!

Quit whinning like a bunch a sissies at Tofu party.

Throw the bums out? There's the door. Throw your sorry whinning butts out yourself. The rest of us are busy.

David Mac
What's the difference between having a Democrat in office and having a Republican who votes the Democrat line, goes against the President on every issue of importance and gives aid and comfort to the enemy? I am saying that if we vote them out for 2 years, possibly they will come back understanding that they are there to serve the people, not the people back home are there to serve them...I am sure in 2 years the Dems can wreak havoc on the system; but if something is not done, they will wreak havoc anyway and with the RINO's help. One way we can repair the damage in a few years. The other way we cannot ever repair the damage.

Take one lesson from the Dems
I agree with much of the reasoning from both sides. That's why we are in so much danger, because so many Republicans are split on this issue and it's very possible we will suffer a huge loss in November.

I'm not able to find a great argument to what Buck just wrote, mainly because he is absolutely right. Many of you are writing that we have to stay strong and stand behind the Republicans no matter what, but I believe that is what has brought us to this point in the first place. We allowed ourselves to be fooled into voting for liberals wearing red. People like John McCain continue to be re-elected because we are not objecting to their actions. We simply vote for the person with the R next to his name on the ballot.

What the dems did to Lieberman is what we need to do to our own party. Liberals do one thing good. They know how to go to war. They stand together, they take action, and they attack those who don't follow the direction they expect, even if they are in the same party. Here's the thing I think we need to realize: These Rinos are traitors to their own party. In the same way that we all feel Dems are traitors to our country, or that the Times is treasonous ... each one of these Republican candidates, including George Bush, who campaign on conservative agendas but then go the opposite way when elected ... they are traitors, liars, and frauds. The truth is that the only thing George Bush has done well is to be strong against terror, and in my opinion ... he's not even strong enough. This stand against Israel and the constant pressure to negotiate with the Lebanese was embarrassing!

But what do we do? We re-elect them! So let me ask you all something. Do you think re-electing these morons will send them a message? If so, what message do you think it will send? I would suggest that what we will be doing is telling them that we want them to continue doing the same thing. When you re-elect someone, they will continue to do exactly what they feel got them elected! Why would they suddenly risk it all by changing everything that's worked?

And like I said in my first post on this subject; IF we do not make a statement that this is unacceptable right now, nothing will matter in the future. It will be too late, whether the majority is Dem or Republican, it won't matter.

The border issue is far more important then terrorism at this point. With terrorism, yes ... we face the possibility of being attacked, but with this immigration problem and the goals of La Raza ... we face civil war, and financial destruction much the same as the Soviet Union collapse. I could go on forever about all that could happen, but most of you are already aware.

The truth is that although we have the majority in name, the majority is already with the liberals. There are too many sissy, liberal, fraudulent fake Republicans who we continue to vote with the enemy.

We need to take them down, and we need to take them down hard. Previous posters are correct when they say that two years of Dems is nothing compared to the alternative, which is eternity. Because in reality, they are already in power. We need to send a message to the Republican party that we simply will not tolerate members of our party who do not stand on conservative values.

I'm not saying I WANT to hand it to the liberals, but in order to prevent that we have to do our jobs in the primaries and that is not happening.

Ragnell and Radlad are correct that we need to do our job in the primaries, but we have not done so up until this point. I would suggest that we organize and attack, much like the libs did to Lieberman, and we take down every Rino in the primaries. McCain has got to go. It doesn't matter who we put in their place because they are already voting against what we stand for as it is. We demand that whoever runs, run on our principles or serve one term. That's it. We can't continue to whine and complain while re-electing them at the same time. That is a hopeless path that will never end.

I will hope that we hold our majorities, but I'm going to be doing all I possibly can to help organize a major push to take down every Rino throughout the country in future primaries. We need to take action and get off our butts and act. I'll be posting info at http://www.worldsreality.com and http://www.invadingamerica.com starting next week. We'll be attempting to organize a national conservative movement to hit all of the primaries hard, and put our own candidates on notice that we expect them to represent those who put them in office. I'd like to see that conservatives can be as organized and effective in "getting their way" as liberals can.

Impeaching Dems
I do like the idea of pushing for impeachment of liberals who trash our country and our President in public during war. The trouble with that is that Republican leaders simply don't have the balls. They stand there and blink as they are getting verbally attacked on a daily basis. And like I said before ... conservative voters just don't seem to have the motivation to organize and rally as the liberals do.

That's why you see 100,000 people at homosexual and illegal alien rallys, but you only see 100 at any conservative rally. That's got to change or we are doomed.

Anyone interested in helping to organize, contact me at worldsreality@yahoo.com

Unbelievable
Those who would put up with two years of Dem control of the legislative branch shouldn't be allowed to play with adults. They probably undermine their employers in order to teach them a lesson. These are the kinds of folks who would wish for bad stuff so they will feel better when thing return to normal. Therapy is the only hope. The Dems can do huge amounts of damage in a very short time. Grow up and vote for the better man or woman (guy) in your state or district. If you want to send a "message," write an e-mail, start a blog, or join a protest.

Randy ...
Maybe you haven't been paying attention, but we are already under Democratic control. Other than the war ... can you point out any part of the conservative agenda that our Republican majority has accomplished?

Besides ... I don't think anyone in here is really wanting to vote Democrat. They are looking for ways to get rid of the traitors in our own party, and that's done in the primaries.

Pelosi
Who cares about Pelosi? How could things be any worse?
