At Least Don Imus Didn't Call Black Republicans 'Moronic'

What would you rather watch?

Don Imus's slip of the lip created a media and racial outrage. He immediately acknowledged his mistake and apologized in person to the Rutgers women basketball team members. They accepted his apology with dignity and class.

John Sugg is Senior Editor of Creative Loafing, a limited distribution weekly paper based in Atlanta, Georgia. Sugg did not have a slip of the pen or a runaway keyboard when he referred to me and all black Republicans as moronic. Sugg wrote, "Being a black Republican is not only oxymoronic, it's simply plain old-fashioned moronic." In the same article he also referred to me as a "sorry opportunist" and a "token," because I chose to run as a Republican in the Georgia 2004 U.S. Senate primary election.

I ran as a Republican not because I am an opportunist, but because my political views are conservative.

I consider Sugg's references to me and all black people insulting and ignorant. Mr. Sugg clearly exposes one of the main intellectual deficiencies of liberals. In the absence of facts or sound logic to defend their ideological opinions, they use name calling and racial slurs to discourage others from venturing off the Democratic plantation.

I am not looking for an apology from Mr. Sugg. And make no mistake about it, I do not need or want any of the race hustlers speaking for me and stirring the racial outrage. Millions of other black people like me are thinking and speaking for themselves.

What I would like to know from Mr. Sugg is how he arrived at such a choice of words for me and other black Republicans. Maybe he chose to ignore my academic credentials. Maybe my professional accomplishments during my business career were just moronic luck. Or, maybe my impressive second place finish in the 2004 Georgia Republican primary was a political fluke. Or just maybe the 172,000 people who voted for me did not know the color of my eyes, and that, according to Mr. Sugg, I was a moron, sorry opportunist and token.

Oh, and about the characterization of me as a token. Set aside for a moment Sugg's abject racism in using that word. I would assume a "token" would already be elected to office, with the blessing and support of the political establishment. In my case, nothing could be further from the truth. The Georgia Republican Party did not ask me to run for the Senate nomination. Nor did I ask the state party for permission. I was not even the establishment's choice. And when the race was over, where was the Georgia Republican Party? On the phone, asking me to help raise money for Republican candidates. Some token.

Ignorance is defined as the lack of knowledge of something or someone. Although the politically sensitive police discourage the use of the word ignorant in public forums, there are times when the watered down version, uninformed, is just not accurate enough. You make the call.

The bottom line is that liberal Democrats like Mr. Sugg can not deal with facts or solutions to issues, nor can they deal with honest and informed debate. So they resort to name calling. When that tactic does not work to further their cause, they resort to a disjointed and unrelated emotional tirade.

To paraphrase an old saying, "sticks and stones may break my bones, but don't mess with my money." Liberal Democrats have stolen money from taxpayers for decades with dysfunctional social programs, and they continue to steal black votes with factual deception and attempted verbal intimidation.

During the early half of the 1900s, Democrats discouraged black people from voting for Republicans with physical intimidation, including lynches by the Ku Klux Klan, a Democrat-inspired organization. Today, instead of a rope and a tree, Democrats try to deny black people from voting or running for office as Republicans using a keyboard and racially inspired media moments.

Name calling and emotional tirades will not help racial relations in this country. Poisonous partisan politics will not help solve the big issues we face. Many of those in elected office are in denial that the biggest problems even exist. Worse, perpetuating a divided nation under the guise of political differences of opinion will not help our fight against our biggest national security threat, Islamic fascism.

All persons in all aspects of media have a responsibility to inform and inspire people to make better decisions and better choices. When we make better choices we have better lives and a better nation.

Slips, slants and slurs may endure for a while, but I believe there is a great awakening underway. Ignorance is not bliss forever.

my 2 cents
being the editor of a weekly rag called 'creative loafing' does not seem to be any really strong qualification for doing whatever he does.

Yet the dude called Mr. Cain a moron.

Perhaps it takes one to know one, or just to call one. IOW Mr. Suggs' credentials do not impress me, Mr. Cain's do.

Get over it Mr. Cain, and can we PLEASE DROP THE DON IMUS THING? When the lovely and talented al sharpton weighs in to a situation as the p.c. artiber and rosie o'donnell weighs in as Imus' defender, isn't that an indicator that this whole thing has gone WAY TOO FAR?

GET OVER IT

Mr. Cain - Please
Someone refers to you as moronic.

While not the greatest thing in the world, it could have been a lot worse.

Liberals and name calling? Right. It's only the liberals who throw the dirt around. Do we need to even go down the list of conservatives who are as bad, or worse.

Honestly, I wish that Americans were more like the British. The British have taken the art of name calling to another level. They can actually be calling you the worst names in the world while making it sound as if they are complimenting you and your family.

Mr. Cain, if something this minor truly gets under your skin, you need to stay out of the public eye.

One of the many things I want to do on my site (click on my name above) is to discuss effective ways to bring more Blacks into our Republican Party. I'm Caucasian, but frankly, I don't want that to be an issue. I want to elect conservatives, Black and White, to office. In PA, 95% of the Black people are voting statewide for Democrats. We had a great candidate for Governor (Lynn Swann) who was Black, and most Blacks voted against him. In Ohio, much the same thing happened. The terrible irony is that most Blacks would benefit from having more Republicans in office. I want to work with Herman Cain and others to reverse the current situation. Anyone who has suggestions, please leave them in the "Comments" on my site. Thanks.

Mr. Cain
Thanks for sharing your story. I know the daily rag is small potatoes compared to what Imus's reach was, but nonetheless it goes to show something interesting.

Why didn't Jesse or Al run to your defense back then after Sugg's comments? Your article is the complete answer to that question. I wonder if they would have sided with the editor as well. I'm sure they would have.

Liberals just have a sheep mentality. The flock must think, do, say, believe, everything exactly the same. If you have independant thinking of your own, it upsets the herd to no end.

Then the screeching and the name calling ensues. It's called "Dinner with Shell's Leftist Extremist Family."

but is he a nappy-headed moron.....
I had to google John Sugg. His bio is evidently so thin that there is little to find about him. I must assume that he is a giant among liberals, with legendary intellectual prowess that extends well beyond his meager academic and professional resume since he confidently calls someone of Mr. Cain's caliber a moron. I was surprised also to see in a photo that he appears to be caucasian. Where is the outrage? Al? Jesse?

Mr. Cain

Please run for the 5th district in Georgia. John Lewis, though a very brave man, is a poor representative.

Double standard, nothing new
Lt. Governor Steele was pelted with oreos, and not one mention made of being the first black man elected to statewide office in Maryland.

Secretary Rice is called Aunt Jemimah, though she is the first female black Secretary of State.

Justice Thomas is called "unqualified" by several prominent democrats.

What would have happened had the parties been reversed. Had Rice or Thomas or Steele had a D after their names and the accusers had an R? I think we would ahve had non-stop press coverage, rent-a-mobs from Al's mob rental service, and rhyming diatribes from Rev Hymietown himself.

Instead, we get a strange silence.

I guess racism only applies if the "victim" is on the left, huh?

Condi is NO TOKEN
Thank you BigBelly for mentioning some of the racist remarks toward Secretary of State Condi Rice as well as toward Colin Powell. Words like "token", "OREO", and some liberal radio host even called her "Aunt Jemymimah" and "house n*****" to name a few insults.

Where were Al Sharpton or Jessie Jackson at these moments? No one from the National Action Network defending Condi Rice from these racist garbage?
Are they so afraid that an intelligent woman of color, who was the first woman to be 4th in the line to become president, that these liberal African-Americans have to drag down the image of Condi Rice? I guess the answer is YES, if you read the information below, you will understand why the liberals and Democrats are threatened by the Most Powerful Woman in American,

The groundswell for Condi Rice to be named the Republican candidate for president has been brewing for the past 2 years. Secretary Rice got 20% in some of the polls, at the time, more than McCain.

No reporter is telling the readers that she would have to resign in order to run, and that puts her in a box right now. She can't be seen as trying to seek higher office while being up to her ears in foreign policy work with N Korea, Israel, the Palestinian area, and working with members of the Arab League while also working with Sec. Gates to resolve the conflict in Iraq.

So while the 2008 race is in full swing, she is prohibited from tossing her hat into the ring. Therefore, thousands of us across the nation have been going to various events to speak up for her.

Some of us are on the National Security side of the Republican party and we see Secretary Rice as the only person who has the "hands-on" foreign policy experience which will be needed for the next administration.

Her 90% name ID is worth $10 million is advertising and she also has 58%
job approval.

Here is a glimpse at the straw poll data from Clarendon County in S Carolina. On April 14th, a "Think Condi" representative from Chicago spoke at a Republican county convention. He reported this news:

Condi Gets 3rd in SC Clarendon County Straw Poll

McCain 28%
Gingrich 21%
Rice 14.28%
Romney 14.28%
Thompson 14.28%
Giuliani 7.14 %
Brownback 0%
Tancredo 0%
Huckabee 0%

**********************************************************************
People were interested in the concept of bringing the candidacy to the candidate, instead of saying
"Vote for me, Vote for me!"

Another representative for "Think Condi" also attended the Oklahoma State Convention on April 14th.

Glad for Mr. Cain
I'm glad Mr. Cain has pointed out that the people who denied black citizens their right to register and vote without fear and intimidation were not the Republicans. It was also not Republicans who fought over the 1964 and 1965 Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act. Those filibusters and opposition strategies were led by southern Democrats, not called blue dogs then, but Dixiecrats. When today's Democrats accuse Republicans of interferring with election turn outs and barring people from voting, they are like neurotics projecting their fears on someone else. Republicans, as the party of Lincoln, were not at the forefront in developing the Ku Klux Klan and instituting a near-century reign of terror against Southern blacks. Those were Democrats. I have always personally thought--as a Democratic election worker for 20 yrs.--that the Dem. Party has been so violent in its feelings against President Bush because all their shenanigans in Florida in 2000 (prob. Ohio in 2004) didn't win. (Gore's party only wanted recounts in heavily Dem. counties, led by Dem. election boards, and Dem. election commissioners, using ballots designed by Dem.'s because FL allows same-day registration and voting. I'm sure Dem.'s were positive their idea of "get out the vote"--wake up the dead, vote several times, and then vote again--after all, supposedly Mayor Daley of Chicago told the Kennedys in 1960 he didn't want to stuff ballor boxes any more than he had to in securing a Kennedy win--would trump any "real" election figures.) They have been like the parents who are most inflamed when you give the paper they wrote for Little Johnny a D instead of an A.

Liberals just don't get it
If Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson were serious in their concern for blacks who are the victims of racist slanders, they would be concerned about all such victims, not just those who are either clearly liberals or who can be presumed by Jesse and Al to be too stupid to stand up for themselves.

The fact that Al and Jesse have not denounced the kind of racist language which is routinely hurled at conservative blacks with far more impressive credentials than they themselves will ever attain, and the fact they they don't do so even though the language is hurled at them specifically because they are black, shows that this has nothing to do with race for Jesse and Al, so it must be about something else.

Conservatives have no problem denouncing the likes of David Duke, dogjudge; why can't you denounce the racist demogouges in your own party?

Mr. Cain--------
If Georgians were foolish enough to deny you office, perhaps you would consider West Central Florida. I, as well as many others admire and respect you. Your opinion, values and morals fit right in here in Floral City, a little town with 1 stop light. Please come visit and see our canopy of oaks!

Hang in there, Mr. Cain
Mr. Cain, after election season 2006, I came to the conclusion that most black republican candidates will face a very seriously uphill battle in my lifetime. Michael Steele and Lynn Swann were excellent candidates; but I have consistently seen polls showing that blacks vote Democrat around 90% of the time.

While the Republican party has to shoulder quite a bit of the blame for that, the statistic still defies logic. And in evaluating that, I came to the conclusion that the Democrats have succeeded at the PR game in appealing to blacks and other minorities to a great degree.

That blacks would feel that Ben Cardin would represent their interests better than Michael Steele tells you the depths of the pit from which Republicans must climb to earn the black vote.

For a man such as yourself, who must have endured more racism and prejudice than I, a white man, could comprehend - you have my admiration - to declare yourself a Republican and subject yourself to racism and prejudice from black people also. Keep up the good fight, and stay true to your principles.

Black conservatives
are slandered for a reason. To actually engage a black conservative in a conversation about how they became Republican is too threatening to liberals. Pointing out the miserable history of the Democratic Party in matters of race just can't be seriously considered by people on the left.

One reason for that is that there is no reasonable response that they can make. Remember that we are talking about people who are brainwashed. They have triggers that send them into a panic stricken rage, and that rage results in the ad hominum attacks. They really believe that anyone who questions their idiological dogma does it because they are stupid, bigoted or just "bad" people.

Think about the kinds of things you have heard from them when they go into their diatribes. They use the same sophomoric insults, and quickly escalate into profanity. It is no exageration to say that these people are mentally ill. Ann Coulter has said this before, but I don't think that people realize how accurate she is. I'm not even sure that she does. Her delivery makes it hard to tell.

In any case, black conservatives represent a deadly threat to leftist politicians and activists. Too many black Republicans will put a bunch of these parasites out of business. That is why they fight tooth and nailto keep blak children in the miserably failing public schools where the brain washing is begun.

Mr. Cain
...superb article.

Please tell me why blacks vote for Democrats. Have you ever been in a large black forum asking why their vote is always for the dems? Is it habit? Do they really KNOW why? A tour by black republicans to townhall type gatherings all over the south may help to change some minds.

The Republican party will soon be disappearing because of the illegal alien amnesty, and 12 million future voters, plus 30 or so million of their families will vote democrat, so we need all the republicans we can get.

Another thing
...we'll see if the dems carry through with their pre-election promises regarding illegal immigration, or if they will sell out and vote for open borders, amnesty, etc. Maybe then, their constituents will think twice before voting them back in, because the majority of Americans don't want amnesty or open borders.

curious
So some Liberal nobody has heard of thinks that black republicans are moronic for supporting policies that he thinks harm blacks. And Cain thinks that liberals support thievery and "can not deal with facts or solutions to issues, nor can they deal with honest and informed debate", because he disagrees with their positions and values. And this is supposed to show a significant difference between the two sides somwhow.

More bizarre though is that criticizing political opposition for its views is supposed to somehow be comparable to calling the Rutgers basketball team nappy headed hos because... well it is hard to say. Because they both involve black people? Any criticism of black people is supposed to be the same regardless of whether it is criticism of their views, or a racially based attack on their appearance and morals based on the fact that they lost in the finals of a tournament?

But funnier still is the idea that it is significant that after Bernard Goldberg wrote a book which attacked liberals over conservatives by a ratio of 97-3 got criticism from liberals and not conservatives. Wow those liberals can't recognize balance when they see it. More interesting was the case of Bill Maher who spent some years on his show trying to get liberals to protest him, got driven off the air when he accidentally offended conservatives.

quote: "One reason for that is that there is no reasonable response that they can make. Remember that we are talking about people who are brainwashed. Isn't your paragraph an ad homin[e]m attack itself? I'm no fan of the left, but they have no monopoly on intellectual dishonesty, and the right has no monopoly on a fair debate based solely on ideas.

As to Mr. Cain's original point, I'm not as familiar with his candidacy but I do know that Michael Steele ran into the same ridiculousness running for the Senate seat from Maryland.

GOP and African-Americans
It would be healthy for America if African-Americans were less wed to one party, the Democrats. Before FDR, of course, those who were permitted to vote - most of them were not because they lived in the deep South - were strongly Republican. The dyed-in-the-wool racists were Democrats, still angry over the outcome of the Civil War.

I was a fervent Republican once, too. Now I am a fervent independent, admiring neither party. Why? When the South began to go GOP it seemed that my party went from an enlightened view on race to crawl in bed with those elements in the deep south who fought equal rights and still resist them. It helped to have Colin Powell as Secretary of State, but he fell out with the party over the Iraq War (as I did).

So, on one hand you have the racial hustlers like Sharpton and Jackson. On the other hand you have people like Cain allied with the party of Lincoln-gone-bad. Tough choice.

But, to repeat, it will be a step forward when no race, color or religion provides mass support for either party. Actually, it would help the GOP if a larger number of African-Americans exercised a greater influence among Republicans. Their influence today is 0 %.

John Galt
No. I don't think that paragraph was an ad hominum attack. Things can get pretty heated here on TH, but for vile, profane, juvenile garbage just go to any of the numerous left wing sites.

Take a look at the two bloggers John Edwards had on his team, and the filth and hatred they spewed on their blog. After you look at the things they said, you might have a better idea of what I am talking about when I refer to ad hominum attacks.

Remember please that you can find the same kind of garbage on other left wing sites. If you can find that level of hatred and vulgarity on a Republican or conservative site, please let me know.

Black Conservatives
I would like to say that most all the Blacks I know lean more towards Conservatism than Liberalism. They seem to come from the Deep South in general and away from urban centers. The interesting thing is they never think of themselves as African Americans but as Americans...just like me.

your right
Mr. Cain
As a Republican that happens to be Puerto Rican I find it hard to believe that so many people believe that I should be a Democrat just because I am Puerto Rican. I know how you feel. It's hard to believe that so many people miss understand the republican party.

Creative Loafing is...
I'm sure all of you have those newsboxes in your town with the free local "alternative" newspaper. That's what Creative Loafing is, like City Links and New Times in S. Florida.

I pick it up because I love to have something to read while eating or, you know.

Anyway, having read it many times I can say that it follows the same formula as all the other free alternatives. Written mostly by young "hip" urban dwellers who think anybody who lives in the suburbs is a white, overweight soccer mom and that the hippest thing in the world is to live "in the city" and gettin' down with the street niggaz, even if the city is Charlotte, N.C. hardly Greenwich Village or SoHo.

So, seriously, who cares what idiots like Suggs thinks about anything. Not that I didn't get the point of your article, Mr. Cain.

Conservatives
Way back in the 60's I considered my self a liberal, but I quickly saw through all the rhetoric and name calling and finger pointing.
Liberals reminded me of the witch hunters of the 15th century. If someone doesn't think or act according to their standards, point a finger at them and scream loudly- WITCH!!!- and the sheep will respond in like for fear of being labeled a bigoted conservative. When I started looking at the facts and using logic in my decision making, I became a conservative. I had long hair back then but I never thought of myself as a Hippie. I attended the Democratic convention in 1968, but also attended the Republican convention in 1972 and decided to vote for Nixon.I have voted for consevative candidates since then and will continue to do so. Nixon has been labeled as a crook and a terrible person by the liberal media, whereas the Clintons have been involved in much more scandalous behavior and worshipped by the media. Their antics would have gotten them both locked in prison if the were conservatives in the 1970's.
Liberals like to point their fingers and scream "WITCH!" and conservatives use logic in their thinking process. People forget that Abe Lincoln was a conservative Republican and the Democrats wanted to keep slavery intact!
Any person with an ounce of common sense should look at the candidate and his platform before voting and not vote for a person because he or she is a Democrat (or a Republican) and thats the way my dad voted or thats how all my friends and neighbors voted!

I have noticed
that most of the liberal responders to this article have dismissed the accusations against Cain as insignificant. There they go again. They demonstrate their hypocracy over and over.

Herman Cain
Paragraph # 4 in his article says it all. Also the above column by Geo.

Double Standard!!!
Double standard, nothing new
Lt. Governor Steele was pelted with oreos, and not one mention made of being the first black man elected to statewide office in Maryland.

Michael Steel had his private credit records posted on the internet by one of Senator Schumer's operatives. Of course Chucky denied he had anything to do with it despite keeping the worker on payroll throughout the investigation. We all know Schumer created an atmosphere in his office where this type of criminal behavior wasn't just tolerated but rewarded. To date no one has done day in jail for this CRIME!!! Compare that to what happens to Republicans when caught with their hands in the cookie jar. Double standard seems a little tame for what is going on here. I voted for Herman in the primaries because unlike too many of those professional politicians in both parties Herman had to deal with the effects of wreckless legislation on a daily basis. I truley believe he wanted to roll back some of that nonsense.

Results matter.
Ellison writes: Tuesday, April, 24, 2007 11:23 AM
However....
The Constant Mention of "The Party of Lincoln" by many conservatives is somewhat funny and overtly racist. Time to find a new line guys

Lincoln understood something Ellison does not or chooses to ignore. IF THE SOUTH WON THE WAR NOTHING ELSE MATTERED. Slavery would have lasted another generaton at least. Slavery wasn't going to be ended in one big step short of war and Abe knew this. Keeping the pro-slavery states from gaining in number was a good first step. Lincoln realized early on that if the war were turned into a war to liberate the slaves rather than save the Union he would loose support and the war. FDR faced the same problem in WWII dealing with the Jewish question. The attack on Ft Sumter was Lincoln's Pearl Harbor. Rather than sweep the problem under the rug and push it off to the next President, Lincoln took it head on and ultimatly paid with his life. To judge Lincoln by today's standards is not only unfair but dishonest. Just think oh how our decendents will spreak of us one hundred years from now.

Roadkill
I skipped the credit report part as it didn't deal with race.

But you are right. That entire fiasco was just shameful. I live in MD, and as any resident of this state knows, the Democrat machine here is not above any number of criminal activities.

Living in MD is like living in machine politics cities of the 1920-1930's. It is frightening. Union supporters break up rallies, dead people vote in massive numbers, judges rule voting irregularities are "unimportant", it is quite discouraging.

I am amazed Ehrlich made it to the governor's mansion.

I forgot
And the Calver and Center Street Democrat Club (aka the Baltimore Sun) manages to miss all of the political shenanigans and find only republican "corruption". And also manages to blame everything on the handful of republicans in the legislature, even when Dems pass the laws, support the laws, and speak in favor of them. Yet, when they go bad, it is the fault of Ehrlich and the republicans. (see the recent energy rate hikes, enacted by our former gov. Glendenning, but blamed on Ehrlich as they came due on his watch.)

Mr. Suggs was apparently
just trying to the best of his capability to appear witty.
You know, it takes a genius to glean "moron" out of the word oxymoron. Yawn! Oh, how clever...
Must be some paper!

Creative Loafing
Great column Herman. What a name for a publication....must be one that serves as the mission statement for liberals. White liberals are the most racist among us and the most oblivious to their own bigotry. Why does no one ever question whites being free to align with any political persuasion, but it is deemed as sacrosanct by these white moral overlords that blacks must remain the faithful servants of their former masters and slaveholders, the Demoncrats.

And Lon, you said, "And Cain thinks that liberals support thievery and "can not deal with facts or solutions to issues, nor can they deal with honest and informed debate", because he disagrees with their positions and values. And this is supposed to show a significant difference between the two sides somwhow." - I'm sorry, Lon, what part of Herman's comments don't you understand? Liberals are fully in support of legalized thievery by the government (income redistribution), never evaluate the consequences of their policy prescriptions to determine if they work or are counterproductive, and never ever engage in honest debate (in fact, they don't debate at all but try to censor, silence, defame, and destroy their opponents rather than offer any substantive support for their positions.

I'm absolutely amazed that any blacks offer any support to the Demoncrats who have tried to completely destroy them for so long.

Enough move on, PS Katrina?
Hermanm Give it a rest please. This gotcha and look he said this and they said that is bull. So that makes the GOP the party for minorities?
Are you all children? Waaaa waaaaa waaaa cry and whine like babies. Change you diaper or get a bottle or something. geeeeeeeeee. Oh yea the GOP is the party of Black folks.....ha ha ha ha Katrina?

I am not justifying what this guy said and I don't give two darns about him or this stupid paper, but you make it out like it has some parody to the rutgers thing and he addressed you specifically. Huuh?

I'll just say if you have to go back to Lincoln and the civil war to some how get any GOP pride and credibility towards the african American community, than that makes my point, and its sad an pathetic.

If you want to look at the Democrat party vs GOP, the Democrat in general, from history (last 50 years), to current events, the GOP is not big time PRO minorities party, unless they can exploit them for a special interest, like illegal immigrants and cheap labor for business.

ALL I HAVE TO SAY AGAIN IS: Katrina! please Hermanm.

Min wage? There is all kind of GOP reasons that that is not any good. The big one they don't mention is GREED and business special interest.

Most blacks don't trust republicans and why would they. Since the late 50's the democrats have lead civil rights. The GOP propaganda sales campaign to get minority voters is disingenuous.

The GOP thinks blacks are so unsophisticated that they can't see thru it. A bunch of white men on town hall bashing the Dems or liberals is not going to do it either.

What about the black democratic candidate in Tennessee, Harold Ford Jr. The conservative RNC/GOP machine trashed that man. They made Racist commercials showing white woman and making all kinds of dirty LOW blow political tricks and propaganda. SHAME

Bush gets credit for having minorities?
Collin Powell was great. Guess what, he made one mistake and lied to the UN and than he got out of there, before his soul was destroyed. Good for him.

Gonzales? He is incompetent at best and clearly a terrible liar. It was reported he said 45 to 71 times he did not remember. At one point he did not remember not remembering what he did not remember! There is a big up yours american people. I can tell you, talking to my black friends think of that.

Dr. Rice? Well let me just say she is a very nice lady, very smart and plays the piano. Happens to be a black woman. She does not have the talent or heart for one of the most important jobs in the world right now. In fact in interviews she is clearly unable to contain her excitement about the prospect of ending her government service and getting back into some academic professor research position in a quite university office or class room somewhere. She can't wait. Real diplomats, peace makers, Carter, Kissinger, Baker....... are diplomats all their life.

On FOX NEWS, a so called conservative analyst called Rice an affirmative action hire!!!! Fox news analyst, are usually disgraced politicians and convicted felons. This was a white lady with a radio show or something.

Rush Limbaugh the BIG pill popping DADDY of conservatism called Barrack Obama, Osama Obama AND a half-rick-american. Not to mention other rasist comments.

Rice, I don't why Bush picked her, except that he or Cheney/rove could control her. If you take all Bush's appointees and picks, line them up, its a tragic rouges gallery of incompetence or a cabal of enablers.

Clearly Rice is a not her own person and does exactly what Rove/Cheney....oh I mean Bush wants. That is clear. She gets up and testifies and tries to be deceptive about a report she had before 9/11 titled: "Osama bin Laden determined to attack inside the USA". She was trying to cover up clearly, as this administration has done from the start.

Rutgers and this one writer in a small paper saying Blacks and GOP don't figure.........too bad I think he is correct. You can disagree but shut up about rutgers or how insulted you are. He is right, blacks and GOP don't mix. Its not what the GOP neo-con is about.

The Black community sees conservative talking head Hannity yelling at Rev Sharpton and goes WHAT THE! Not the african american community does not universally like Sharpon, but Hannity is just angry sounding, disrespectful.

Speaking of Sharpton, how about republican James Strom Thurmond, white South Carolina Senator who is related! Apparently Thurmond's relatives owned slaves (Sharptons kin) and had a few mix race babies with their slaves. Thurmond had a one (that we know of) illegitimate mix race daughter. Republicans like Thurmond where ANTI civil rights and pro segregation. Thurmond conducted the longest filibuster ever conducted by a United States Senator in opposition to the Civil Rights Act of 1957. Now to be fair Thurmond was a democrat at that time, but the bill was being pushed by the Democrats. Thurmond switched to republican not long after this. NO WOUNDER HE TURNED REPUBLICAN, DEMS WHERE RACIST.

Yea the GOP a proud history in civil rights. If you want to talk about vote suppression, the GOP are aces at it and they do it still TODAY! Key word TODAY!!!

They GOP has no respect and thinks the african community can be fooled when a black man, Mr. Herman Cain, say the GOP is so much better for the poor and min wage folks, regardless of race.

Mr. Herman Cain, please don't be a water carrier. If you have some facts of why the GOP is so great than please tell us. Other wise its just bash the liberals. Last word KATRINA.

Katrina Katrina Katrina Katrina Katrina Katrina.

Kanye West - "George Bush Does Not Care About Black People"

I think Kanye is a arrogant and egotistical young man, but he speaks for a LOT of black folks. Mr. Herman Cain you have ZERO credibility writing this trash on Town hall., but I thank you for the laugh.

Jetpilot
Wow Jetpilot, you're in a real tailspin. Where'd you get your talking points, moron.org?

The Dems were the 1950 civil rights leaders? You mean like Senator Gore, William Fullbright, Robert Byrd. C'mon. Do a little research before you drink the koolaid. If a majority of Republicans hadn't voted for the Civil Righs Act it wouldn't have passed.

And you're the one that needs to get off Katrina. What in the world does that mean. Why are Republicans responsible for people who were too stupid to get out the way of a storm even though they had been warned for days. And why were whites the highest percentage of casualties based on their proportion of population. I guess that means Republicans don't like whites either.

If anyone is a water carrier it is you, along with a great load of bull.

Dems and slavery
The dems were the party of continuing and spreading black slavery. The KKK was founded to help put them back in power in the South. They were the party of the Black Codes. They were the party of Jim Crow. Even as late as the 1960s a much higher percentage of dems voted against the Civil Rights Act than Republicans. Later it has been dems who push such things as racial quotas. Dems cannnot seem to think of anything without injecting the issue of race into it. It is almost like it is in their political genes to think that way. And now the white dems do everything in their power to keep blacks on their political plantation.

Teaching courses on the Civil War, Reconstruction, and the later Civil Rights movement often proves to be a challenge because dem students keep misidentifying the positions of the political parties. They have been indoctrinated with so much dem propaganda that they cannot wrap their minds around the historical realities.

I really enjoyed the article. I believe it told a lot of truth. Just as the Old South's white democratic power structure first tried to oppose Congressional Reconstruction by cozying up to the newly freed slaves with barbeques and words of regional solidarity, but later turned to physical, economic, and social intimidation when that did not work. So they do today with those who try to leave their political plantation. Look for the rhetoric to get fiercer as more and more American blacks decide the Democratic Party has failed them. The best hope for the dems to hold them is to actually allow a black politician a real elected national position of power. Obama may be their chance to hold a bigger proportion of voters.

Mr. Cain, terrific article.
I think part of the problem is when a Black person is conservative, he/she is accused of
"acting white" which of course is a negative connotation. Then Imus attempts to "act Black" (although he insulted the basketball team while doing so) and he gets canned. Looks like a person can't win either way.

jet pilot: Like usual, it can be counted on to have "jet pilot" bring his/her own brand of ignorance to the TH boards. Katrina? What is up with that? Who forced those people to stay? Isn't the mayor Black? And just HOW is Gonzales incompetent? Have any factual proof of that (other than lib talking points which if said often enough people begin to think they are true.)Last, Kanye DOES NOT speak for "a lot of black folks." Give me a break...the guy is a millionaire raised in suburbia pretending to be from the hood and pimping black mythology every chance he gets. I won't even waste any more time attempting to show the ignorance of many of your other statements...like I said, you can be counted on to display "liberalism as a mental disorder" each and every time.

PV
You ask, " I'm sorry, Lon, what part of Herman's comments don't you understand? Liberals are fully in support of legalized thievery by the government (income redistribution), never evaluate the consequences of their policy prescriptions to determine if they work or are counterproductive, and never ever engage in honest debate (in fact, they don't debate at all but try to censor, silence, defame, and destroy their opponents rather than offer any substantive support for their positions."

I guess since thievery is the illegal taking of goods, I do have some problem with the idea of legal illegal taking of goods.

But in reality I have no trouble understanding what Cain said. Like many conservatives, yourself apparently included, he takes political differences and describes them in ways that combine the difference of opinion with a level of ad hominem. That also appears to be what Cain was complaining about when it was done to him.

My point on this is twofold. First, doing this is worse than simply making the substanitive argument without the ad hominem. Sugg would be better off simply explaining why he thinks blacks who support the Republican party are acting against their own interests. You and Cain can explain why you think that liberal policies are immoral without the nonsensical legal thievery charge.

Second, neither of these is comparable to the comment which got Imus in trouble. That was ad hominem without the benefit of a point behind it. He was not saying something relevant in an insulting way. He was simply insulting to demean. There is no hypocrisy in considering the Imus comment to be worse than either the Sugg or Cain comments.

Legal Illegal Taking Of Goods
Lon, thanks first of all for the respectful argument. Your question as to the "legal" illegal taking of goods is good.

No one has the right to make a claim on the property of another based upon his own need. You would never think you had the right to go to one of your neighbors and take something he had strictly because you didn't have it and needed it. How is this situation different from using government as a hired "thief" to go and take the property from your neighbor? Only in this instance, since the government has sanctioned the theft, it is technically "legal" theft.

Obama the Magic Negro
On Rush Limpo, he had a music bit on with an Al Sharpton mimic singing:

"Al Sharpton sings about Obama the Magic Negro"

Its on U-Tube. Rush is white, his main audience is all white men. WHY DO YOU THINK Blacks vote Dem? Because Rush for example, is a racist and an embraced RIGHT WING conservative MOUTH Piece (of s$^&%).

WOW, first it was Obama is a Half-rick-american now this. Its going to be good. Rush's excuse for the latest is he did not make it up or say it first. Hummmmm didn't Imus make that claim?

Rush's Parodies
. . . anything taken out of context can portrayed as offensive and/or racist.

Media Matters proves that point on a regular basis!

The Dems are not for minorities, they want the vots but the things they bring have been devastating for us. Welfare has not been a plus, replacing the father in the home and encouraging out of wedlock births has done great damage and these are Democrat ideals. Essentially telling blacks you can't make it with out handouts from the bighouse is in itself racist and insulting. Dems don't think black are able to succeed and achieve unless they get handouts, and affirmative action. I know too many of us that have done it. My parents, sisters, and their husbands, Colin Powell, Condoleeza Rice, Dr. Ben Carson, Daniel "Chappie" James, Clarence Thomas and many others, check out Star Parker's story.

The Democrats have a nasty history of racism, it was they who opposed the civil rights act of 1964, the GOP got it past.

The abortion industry was born from Margaret Sanger, a racist, egenicist, that looked at blacks as "human weeds". Who then set about introducing abortion clinics to minorities, and to this day the clinics are predominately located in minority neighborhoods, and the Dems are all for it.

Let's talk vote suppression, how about Al Gore trying to get the overseas military ballots from the 2000 election discounted, did you miss that?

Kanye West is no spokesman for me he is just some Democrat plantation rapper, and besides I have worked with FEMA and understand their role in disaster relief, many don't seem to, and the Dems and MSM capitalized on that and painted and very inaccurate picture. Explain why is it that Mississippi which actually took the brunt of the storm force winds has managed much better than N.O. First of all the Governor of Ms, and Alabama, pre-placed letters allowing for the military to come in before the storm hit, that cleared the way for the government not to be in violation of posse comitatus, (which if it had beeen violated I'm sure you and the other Dems would have been the first to condemn). What do you say about New Orleans mayor Ray Nagin who waited to enact the evacuation, who didn't use the school buses, who when Amtrac told him they had a train they were getting out of there and they could take 200, the train left empty. The same Mayor who got his family out, as well as his household goods, you have anything to say about him? What about Democrat Gov, Katleen Blanco, who when Bush was trying to get her to pre-place the same letters that the Ms, and Al govs did, she refused, and then all she could do was cry afterwards.

Many of the blacks in the 9th ward were stuck there in part because of Democrat nanny-state polices that crippled them. The idea the government will take care of me, they give me foodstamps, section 8 housing, and all the other goodies you get from welfare, you can't move up, because it wasn't designed for you to ge out, bu if you try to get out we'll make sure you go through hell trying. Keep you on the plantation, just vote for us and we'll throw you a few more dollars. Dems, the real racists.

History
The welfare system, a democratic staple, has done more to enable generation after generation of poverty in the black community, punishing marraige and sucess. The result? ......70% illegitimate child birth, a dissencentive for success, a feeling of dispair and a higher percentage of poor now then when the system began........now that is the definition of moronic.

Get used to it
Mr. Cain. The liberal argument for anything consists of name calling, and actual facts or logic are never used. You have the high ground and I'm sure you already know that.

The death line
Mr. Herman Cain is a great inspiration letting me know that I am not fighting the battle alone. 98% of Blacks I speak to tell me that they vote Dixiecrats because the Republican Party is only take care of the rich and leave their feet on the poor. I am called a Oreo and ignorant when I tell them that I am a Black republican. It is sad(which I was a one point) that Blacks are not aware of the history of the Democratic Party. I think it is sad when ANYBODy would vote for Hillary who thinks it is OK for a 16 year old to abort a child without a parent's consent. The main sad issue is that majority of Blacks are "conservative". They just yell "racist" when they hear Republicans say, " You have to fight for yourself and Only receive help from others than from government." I fight everyday pointing out how the inner GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS are detroying the Black community. How the poor will basically benefit from the fairtax bill. How the Hip-Hop culture has turned into a criminal and flashy image for the children. I would like to hear a child say that their Father is their role model instead of a professional athlete.

Hence is why i felt like there was a death line when I left the Democratic plantation.

Blacks who love jesus, vote McCain!!!!!!
Most negros have been spoonfed that they have to vote for obama. And they all follow inline like lambs to the slaughter. McCain needs to adress the problems that black people face... So many of them are drug addics, illetirate, un-employed and on welfare and robbing people and having too many babies. We need to solve their problems to make our streets safer and not have so many prisioners. Yeah, and what have the f*cking demoncrats done for the country lately besides give more free gub'mint cheese to the negroes?

Just because "Osama" is a negro dosnt mean he can fix their problems.

John McCain is the only cannidate that will fufill our presidents war on islam. What we need in these endtimes is a good strong coneretive anti-libaral, non-hippie who holds true to the word of our lord. I really hope WHEN McCain becomes president he lives up to the republican platform and ends abortion, criminalizes gay sex and marrage and stops de-regulashion. We need to invade andor nuke iran and all these terriorists before its too late. This is exacly what the bible pridected would happen if the world fell away from his word. Armogeddon is close at hand we must stop them as a global force and unite christians and live as the word would tell us. and wage war against the non-beilevers and democarats and libarals.

"The righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance. He shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked."( gays & muslims)
