She also tried to explain her comment by writing, “I want to set the record straight: I was making the simple point that given our history, the length of this year's primary contest is nothing unusual.” She went on to say that she "was deeply dismayed and disturbed" that her comment about Kennedy's shooting would be construed as anything other than a historical reference. Besides her attempts to change the truth, her campaign aids pointed fingers at Obama claiming that he was using the comment for political gain.
Terence R. McAuliffe, Clinton’s campaign chairman, was more explicit in his criticism of Obama and the poor press. "It's unfortunate -- a hyped-up press over Memorial Day weekend, the Obama campaign inflaming it, tried to take these words out of context," he said on "Fox News Sunday."
No matter what Clinton or her people say about the situation, the comments about RFK are just another piece of evidence showing her real soul. She is a politically motivated, icy-hot, win-at-all-costs woman. At the detriment to her party, her campaign is fighting on in a primary that they have no hopes of winning. In a divided country, she continues to fan the flames of hatred, and in a time of desperation instead of going away with grace, she scratches and claws with vengeance for any last stronghold.
With each passing day, Clinton is ruining her chance to have a productive political career after 2008. It’s time for her to bow out, wipe her hands of this disastrous campaign, work towards healing the many wounds her campaign is responsible for and try to find her moral and spiritual navigation system. Anything else would just reveal more of the same – a tarnished and troubled soul.
