Who's Winning the Immigration Battle?

Do you feel the leaked information from a global warming alarmist organization is meaningful?

The defeat of the so-called immigration "reform" bill in the Senate last week was a stunning blow to the powerful coalition backing it, but opponents had better not break out the champagne just yet. The odds are better than even that the coalition will simply regroup, try again, and this time roll over the opposition like a Sherman tank.

The coalition is simply too powerful for anything as unfocused as mere American public opinion to resist for long. For one thing, it includes the entire Democratic Party, minus only a leftist fringe that cannot stand even small and temporary concessions. The Democratic strategists realize that if they can only put the 12 million or more illegal aliens already here on a track to eventual citizenship, two-thirds of them can be depended to vote Democratic when they get there. (That is the record to date of the Hispanics who are already citizens.) That's a net gain of 4 million votes in every national election after roughly 2020, and that figure will only grow as more Hispanics flood in under the other provisions of the "reform."

The other wing of the coalition consists, paradoxically, of people who mostly vote Republican. But they are businessmen who depend on cheap immigrant labor to fatten their profits, and who are willing to do whatever it takes to keep the current influx of Mexican laborers coming. Their spiritual ancestors were the pre-Civil War slaveowners, who really knew about cheap labor. The businessmen in question are hugely influential in the Republican Party, and have persuaded a surprising chunk of it (including the current president) to support the "reform" bill, even though every sensible Republican strategist realizes that in the long run they are risking party suicide.

Now, there is nothing inherently wrong with immigration, or with Hispanic immigration. It is perfectly true that America has always welcomed immigrants, and has prospered hugely from their contributions. But the flood of Hispanic immigration in the past three decades, both legal and illegal, has simply overwhelmed the normal assimilative capacities of American society, and if continued much longer (as you can bet it will be, as long the aforementioned coalition has a breath left in its body) it will transform the United States into a bilingual, bicultural hodgepodge with quite possibly fatal internal divisions. The result would be no different if we were suddenly inundated with 20 or 30 million Poles or Turks.

The supporters of the "reform" bill are fond of pointing to various provisions (e.g., the pitiful fines illegals would have to pay) that are supposedly tough, and of challenging its opponents to come up with something better. But the truth is that their "solution" is so bad that even the status quo is better. Far better to have 12 million illegals doing cheap labor for businessmen willing to defy the law than giving them all citizenship and welcoming the next twelve million. "Border enforcement" has been a standing joke for 20 years.

And bear in mind that when the "reform" bill is finally passed (as it very probably will be), its enforcement will be in the hands of the Democratic party, which seems likely to sweep the 2008 elections to spank George Bush for Iraq. How much of that "fence," do you suppose, will actually be built on the Democrats' watch? How long will it take Nancy Pelosi to reinstate the current preference for admitting the distant relatives of Hispanics already here, as she has already called for doing in the high name of "family values"? How hard will the immigration enforcers be told to look for, and deport, the new workers brought in for two years, if they don't go home for a year (as required by the "reform" bill) after that?

Above all, who -- if anybody -- is looking out for the long-range future of this country? In a column published in April 2006, I warned those who wanted true immigration reform that "We are at least 20 years too late." We have put up a mighty fight this year, but if the current "reform" bill is ultimately passed, that gloomy assessment will be vindicated. We are in the grip of a coalition of businessmen without foresight and politicians without scruples. And anyone who lives through the next fifty years will see the United States transformed from a proud English-speaking nation in the West European tradition into a polyglot multicultural mess.

You're a great shot all right, Robert
You plug yourself in the foot every time.

"the social safety net programs have nothing to do with the immigration debate which I believe your side is losing."

Okay, are you really stating for the record that the many social services that illegal aliens can obtain free in the US are not a contributing factor in the illegal “immigration” flood? Are you really?

As for which side is losing, the Bill was tossed out of the Senate and won't return in it's original form. Some compromise may be back, or not, depending on how much pull an incredibly unpopular President has. The boxer is flat on his back, the referee is counting, his manager is screaming "Get up! Get up!" and Robert thinks that's winning?

Shot yourself in both feet that time.

This too.
All of the information quoted here on this blog
on the evils of the Am-nasty and the crime all of it is known by the President, the Democrats and the Republicans who will vote for this evil thing, that alone should tell you where we are at.

Pass it, then we know the Names.
All we need is the list,
un-elected is the choice.

Constitutional Convention, all 50 States, not one current elected offical allowed in the hall.

1. Terms limits.
2. Border Security
3. Legal and illegal immigration rules and drop dead mim jail time for the first time caught.

Just because they pass it does not mean it will ever go into effect, sue the crap out of it and them in fact sue them for treason. Find the kick backs, find the money, get recalls going on the worst.

Robert, it depends
Yes and the McDonalds in Kaohsiung are staffed by Taiwanese. In the Buckhead area of Atlanta the fast food restaurants are almost 100% Hispanic. The Wendy's on Peachtree Road only the manager is a native speaker. Not sure what the point of this is.

Oh and Robert using a racist term for me from the 1940s doesn't make you a racist...of course not.

But people that oppose illegal immigration are racists. I see.

Yes Robert and some still use the term even on TH and I call them on it.

DISMANTELING OF AMERICA!

No Border Fence -North American Union

We know that no matter how much money Congress allocates for border security, it will never happen.

We know about the Superhighway and the North American Union.

We know that Congress is blackmailing the American public into passing this horrible Amnesty bill by holding the border fence hostage. If those turds had any intention of building that border fence, it would have already been built.

If they cared about the future of this nation, Congress would WANT to build it. But clearly they don't. There will never be a fence because it would defeat the whole purpose of their North American Union. A union Americans have NO interest in and will fight tooth and nail.

Congress is playing deadly games with us. And anyone who thinks they are sincere in any way, is naive beyond belief.

We must pay attention to what Congress does and DOESN'T DO... not what they SAY. Because talk is cheap.

Perhaps we will get illegals to do their job....they would do a better job at a much lower cost. Isn't that the theory?

It is doubtful the military would try to stop a revolution if the number of people revolting were large enough (2 million or more).

Most of the military would have too many immediate family members participating in the revolt.

Lexington and Concord?
Is it time?

dems don't need any help
Author of this article makes it sound like Dems are major culprits. Sorry to say the Republicans don't need any help. The whole agenda started with Rockefeller and Jimmy Carter was their first hand picked president. The CFR agenda is fully bipartisan. What exactly did republicans do to stop any of this going forward. Bush is screaming ahead.

Took me a while to catch on. Trusted him when he wanted fast track, only to find out it was to sneak trade deals by without oversignt. He is a traitor. Can you believe he actually has the nerve to tell AMERICAN CITIZENS we don't want what is good for the country!!!

Second civil war, we should only hope. Bush has that covered too. Tell me this doesn't sound like martial law and one of the things that can trigger military takeover is "insurrection".

I first ran into Lou Dobbs on the news about a year ago. In my opinion, he is FAR better on the illegal alien invasion and other things, such as the NA Union. No other mainstream TV media is even talking about it.

I can't stomach anything else on CNN though.

Gabby
Thanks for the link to the article. So very sad, but so true.

It just makes me sick what is going on in our country. Why won't people wake up?

Robert looks at apples
and counts oranges. "The US has a great history of accepting waves of immigrants and evolving in the process..."

Absolutely true and a source of national pride as well as national strength. Of course, we weren't a welfare state back then as we are now (a source of national shame as well as national weakness)

You have to admit, though, that his supercilious tone really is a "hoot."

We have allowed too much for far too long, and now that we are starting to fight back, they are scrambling like a bunch of monkeys who lost their banana in a crocodile pond. Never give up hon, one person's voice, is a thousand heard.

I will not
I will not let this go.

This issue is determinative to the sustainability of a nation whose respect for civic virtue is the cornerstone of its founding.

I reject -- amnesty, under any euphemism

I reject -- lawmakers who make immigration law and then ONLY FUND aspects of that law favorable to business owners, political elites, and whining socialist democrats

I reject -- illegal immigrants whose very presence here bespeaks their contempt for America's laws

I reject -- anyone who hires illegal aliens, paying them a pittance, and then pocketing the profits instead of hiring our OWN citizens to do the work at a decent, living wage

My fury over this issue is unbounded.

I think maybe you are a closet biggot. You rave about letting the Mexicans come into the country unchecked yet insult a person of japanese ancestry without remorse. Hmmm, could you be from south of the border? It seems most of the ones in california are against any race of people except La Familia.

ROCC
Actually, brother v brother in the "Civil War" was quite rare--not unheard of--but not that usual. It was quite common for people in the United States to support the crown--about 1/3 supported the crown another supported independence and the rest didn't care one way or the other.

Towns were split between loyalist and patriots and households were split. The Revolution was really America's first Civil War.

Akagi
Your right, we need something better. I don't know of anyone (other then Austin backing Santa Ana until he brought a petition asking for separate statehood from Coahuila and Santa Ana refused) so that won't work... Perhaps "MEChA"?

By saying
“the coalition is simply too powerful for anything as unfocused as mere American public opinion to resist for long” is akin to admitting defeat early in the first battle of a long war.

To answer the question; No one is winning the immigration battle. Even those that appear to win will eventually loose.

Business that use the low cost labor will see the new legal labor will seek the pay and benefits of any other legal worker, thus negating the cost savings those business seek.

The newly legal workers will either become a semi-slave class or workers or find that the jobs they had will get rid of them in favor of a new wave of illegal aliens. They new legals will be suddenly in competition for the few low wage jobs that they have the skills to perform.

The above change in worker status will drive higher unemployment of low skilled workers, unemployment claims, applications for social service assistance, etc. This will add to the already high financial burden of the tax payers of this society.

Politicians that think these new legal voters will vote for them will find that the votes they expected will not develop in the way they wanted. Whole political parties will be destroyed and others, which will form along ethnic lines, will take their place. In the future the U.S. will have it's own version of the ethnic and religious divides we see in places like Afghanistan, Iraq, and Israel.

One poster above suggested this is the harbinger of the next civil war. As grim a prospect that prediction is, I think that person is close, but it will be more of a North American conflict because the Latin American Nations to our South will ally with the Hispanic forces in the U.S. and Canada will have to either mass on its southern border to prevent the war from spilling over into Canadian territories or they will have to join with one of the sides to ensure a quick and decisive end to the conflict so that the military assets of the former U.S.A. will not get into the wrong hands and be used in the North American region.

I hate to say it but maybe that type of internal conflict is what we as a nation need to re-unite under the ideals which this nation was founded on.

Who's winning? the law breakers.
The corporation who are hiring and abusing the illegals immigrants and the politicians on the take from these corporations are the winners. The other set of winners are the illegal immigrants who have managed to integrate into the system enough to use the free education, health care, and other social programs to raise the babies they birthed in the US who can continue to garner these benefits without ever contributing to the country they live in.

Robert (one watt)
Robert looks at all the adults conversing and says "Look at me, look at me." The second civil war - are you that NIFONGING stupid? Not even close. The war between the states had brothers on opposite sides - didn't happen much in the war against King George. Maybe we need another war against King Jorge.

JK
I don't think Davy Crockett would be that good of a name for him since Crockett died fighting the Mexican invasion during the War for Texas Independence. We need to find some historical Texan that supported Texas remaining part of Mexico--that name would fit Robert better.

Oh and Robert. If I used the name Akagi in 1947, I doubt little would happen to me. The war ended on September 2, 1945, you aware of this fact?

Most of the "concentration camps" were closed by late 1944, but some were open until late 1945--after the war had ended. The term you use is probably correct since the camps were used to "concentrate" the Nisei and Issei and Sansei into camps so they couldn't engage in sabatoge or other such pro-Japanese activity--or at least that was the claim of bigots like Warren and FDR, but it brings up images of Nazi Germany and the camps as bad, unfair, and unAmerican as they were, were not anything like the camps in Germany--either the concentration camps or of course the extermination camps.

But yes, if I had been here in 1942 or 1943 or 1944, I would perhaps have ended up there. Of course, I know of noone sent to the camps from Georgia. That is were living in Georgia at the time (1942-1945).

Akagi
That is hilarious!! I made the faux pas of calling him Davy Crockett! He just may think he is actually "king of the wild frontier" before this day is over. How many "hats" can he wear before he topples over? (rolling my eyes)....

Let's Have A Think on This
Well now here are some interesting little tidbits from the LA Times:

40% of all workers in L.A. County ( L.A.County has 10.2 million people) are working for cash and not paying taxes. This is because they are predominantly illegal immigrants working without a green card.

95% of warrants for murder in Los Angeles are for illegal aliens.

75% of people on the most wanted list in Los Angeles are illegal

Over 2/3 of all births in Los Angeles County are to illegal alien Mexicans on Medi-Cal , whose births were paid for by taxpayers.

Nearly 35% of all inmates in California detention centers are Mexican nationals here illegally.

The FBI reports half of all gang members in Los Angeles are mostly illegal aliens from south of the border.

Nearly 60% of all occupants of HUD properties are illegal.

Less than 2% of illegal aliens are picking our crops, but 29% are on welfare.

Over 70% of the United States ' annual population growth (and over 90% of California , Florida , and New York )results from immigration.

29% of inmates in federal prisons are illegal aliens.

Robert
Conner:

Don't give Robert any ideas since he has already been (according to himself) a former Federal Agent (meaning postal carrier I am thinking) who attended the FLETC at Glynco, Georgia (who I am betting before this week when Generalissimo Jorge visited to try to brainwash members of the Border Patrol there, he had never heard of the place), a member of the US armed forces and most recently a pilot. So I am sure soon he will also claim he is the CEO of Wal-Mart or something.

The Freedom of Migration Act
The Freedom of Migration Act is the only solution to our immigration problem that makes sense.

Read about it at http://www.henrykkowalczyk.com/immigration.htm .

See it at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6i8xbHNCxoU .

Tell me, what is wrong in the Freedom of Migration Act?

Robert
Zai Jian and Adios too.

I"VE GOT AN IDEA!!!
Hey Robert;

Since you think so much of these people. Why don't you do us all a favor, and move to Mexico, or say perhaps any where down further south, say where "Tomato Head" Chavez is currently ruling.

Why do I keep on thinking, that you are either the head of Mcdonald's, or Walmart's?

NO IL LEGAL'S ......PERIOD!!!!
Sorry to say, but we "DO NOT" want, or need any more il-legal aliens coming into our country.

There are enough American's to do the work.

What ever happened with all the High School & college kids, who loved working the fast food joints, and the Lawns Services??

The kids, were more than happy to make a few extra spending bucks. Remember those days???

These lousy third rate il-legals refuse to learn the language, or live as we live. They think we're going to turn this nation into their country. "WELL", we're not!!!

Most of our decendants came into this country, learned the language, and were happy to live as American's, not the other way around!

I hope and pray, that this "Immigration Bill" doesn't get passed through. As I for one, as most American's, "DO NOT WANT THESE SOUTH OF THE BORDER IDIOT'S" in OUR country, the USOFA!!!

Most of them have little IQ, to begin with. This is why they want us to learn Spanish, instead of them learning English.

typos..
execution of illegal aliens

Robert...
As the Democrats (marxists+nazis=communists/democrats) had no problem murdering civilian children, women & men in Waco Texas, what's wrong with execution illegal aliens?

Robert
I can tell by your post that you have not eaten at a McDonalds recently. 90% of their employees have a difficult time understanding basic english. Most can't read or write english or add and subtract.

Robert
Are you really that stupid? What ever happened to national Sovereignty? We are not sending our poor uneducated to Mexico. Why should we accept theirs?

Flatter Myself
You are a moron in the highest degree. Go spout your pathetic spew to where it is appreciated. The only thing you can do with any grace is kiss a@##. And the only one flattering themselves in this forum is you Davy boy. And oh by the way, when Allah and his band of thieves show up at your doorstep (you know those that snuck in with the rest of the low-life) Gird up your loins Davy because you will be the FIRST one crying "what happened" "this was not the way it was suppose to be", yada yada. You and your cronies are the only cowards and traitors in this country.

Robert
You are the coward. You push people who have a different point other than you and your left handed Mexican cohorts. You are rude crude, and socailly uacceptable. Why don't you go to a site where your stupid views will be appreciated, or else give your address to those you are calling cowards. And find out for yourself. You hide behind diatribe that is only ascribed by people so far left that their right leg won't touch the ground.

You're so full of fear, that you only hope others are. You are like most Mexicans. You laugh while others are stabbing us in the back. Yes that was a racist remark. And honestly, I'm beginning to feel that way., and I never was before. But you, and your ilk have about pushed Americans too far. And you can take that to the bank LOL boy!!!!!!!!!

Recall every senator you can
McCain and Kyl MUST be recalled, removed from office ASAP. The nation cannot survive until their terms expire. I read a brief line in the "Arizona Repulsive" that such petitions had been started. Does anyone know who is organizing the action?

How about other states- do you have recall on the books- is someone organizing? It's the only message these traitors will understand.

WHERE'S THE FENCE?

Robert
Hey Davy Crockett, best turn that beaver skin cap around, because the tail is obscuring your ability to read. Where do you see fear? Be a big boy, adjust your hat and READ. Perhaps it is you that “fears" because America (you remember America - land of the free, founded on God, and all that) is fighting back, and this is your feeble attempt to feel "secure" in your own twisted viewpoint. And to assume anyone of the posters has not fought the war is an insult you git! If you don't like it, pack your little Gucci bag, and move to the other side of the pond. They will welcome your moronic logic.

Yeah, Liberty
Frankly, in my lifetime, I don't think I've ever seen the country in greater danger from an "enemy within", namely a coalition of the two major parties to consciously subvert the will of the People.

The system may finally be broken.

Thank you lodestar
I read on Neal Boortz today, who is in Tucson.,that people told him they could sit on their porch and see illegals crossing into the States. He also said that they had seen the Mexican army come across too. One time they came over in a helecopter, and dropped some guys off to steal a fuel truck of some kind. They do this to smuggle drugs in. They find it easier to get in with an American vehicle.

Is this not pitiful? How can our government turn their backs on things like this?

What this is really all about....
This whole immigration legislation is much bigger than just the issue of amnesty. There are other provisions of this bill that aren't being talked about. One is Bush's Security and Prosperity Partnership that was never approved by Congress. Well, this piece of legislation does just that.

Under the SPP, working groups have been "harmonizing" our laws and regulations between Canada and Mexico, and so much more. Some of these proceedings have been obtained through FOIA requests and I have linked to them several times. If you haven't yet looked at these, I highly recommend that all do.
http://stopspp.com/stopspp/?page_id=11

Bush's SPP was derived from the CFR blueprint called, "Building a North American Community". One of the authors is now well-positioned in the State Department. Another is going around touting his idea of a North American Community. What's a NA American Community you say? While he goes around the U.S. he firmly states that he's not talking about a merger of the 3 countries, but the truth came out when he presented a paper in Canada. He admits the goal is to create something very similar to the European Union. Don't believe me? Read his paper here:
http://www.american.edu/ia/cnas/pdfs/PastorTestimonyCanada.pdf

This will be the death knell of our Constitution and our liberty, people.

There never was any intention to secure our borders, people! Take a look:
http://usinfo.state.gov/is/Archive/2005/Mar/23-209281.html

This isn't about left or right, or Republican or Democrat... this is about our COUNTRY.

BrianR
From the column...
"The coalition is simply too powerful for anything as unfocused as mere American public opinion to resist for long."

BrianR:
If that is, in fact, true, then government "of, by, and for the People" is finished, and the country is doomed. Not simply by illegal migration, but by governmental arrogation of power.

---------------

Truer words were never spoken, Brian. We all need to hear this and pick ourselves up and stand up for our country, before it's altogether too late.

Robert
Name me another country (except those European losers that are quickly losing their country to the Arab world)that would accept 10% of its population being illegal aliens. There aren't 2 million illegal aliens in Taiwan (enough to populate the city of Kaohsiung); there are not 12 million illegals in Japan (enough to populate Tokyo).

There are not hordes of Thai's waiting at CPC stations looking for day labor work in Taichung for example.

And if this bill eventually passes, I'll eventually be leaving the country. I'll become like Philip Nolan only with no regrets. My patience for this place was already thin--this may be the straw that broke the camels's back in regards to me and the US.

Yes, latino interest groups (no ethnocentricity/racism there!) ARE involved in the crafting of the Scamnesty legislation:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/05/15/AR2007051502022.html

It is indeed mind-boggling, but it shows how badly we have devolved into a Republic effectively by and for the engaged special interests, which is always a danger in a representative republic. The monied and organized will inexorably have an undue influence, which explains the total disconnect between 72% of Americans (including 65% of 'Crats) and Congress on Scamnesty:

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/just_26_favor_senate_immigration_plan

Arizona (the state most plagued with the ILLEGAL tsunami) recently passed (Nov.) several TOUGH anti-ILLEGAL referenda issues by almost 80% majorities-- including up to 50% of the legal (presumably) latino vote.

Do you get some sort of perverse pleasure out of abject, ignorant, irreverent/naysaying, gadfly iconclasm?! Does congenital aversion to cognition run in su familia? Are you totally fact averse?

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/just_26_favor_senate_immigration_plan
http://www.cis.org/articles/2006/back906.html

Are 72% of Americans "fear mongers"?! Are 65% of the 'Crats on "the far right"?! Does 26% of initial respondents supporting the idea of Scamnesty bill indicate to you that "the American people are turning to it"? [Frankly, some of them simply wanted the enforcement first and were conned by the bill's REAL agenda.]

You are right about one thing in a bass akwards, ironic way --> AMERICANS will surely be losers if Scamnesty passes... it is better to do nothing on this in Congress than to do evil... we have the necessary laws in place, but the Quisling-In-Chief has chosen to be willfully nonfeasant in violation of his oath of office, even as he promises them down in Mexico to wotk for THEM on this immigration "reform". That is TREASON prima facie.

I perhaps should not even bother to counter your facile, feckless "reasoning"... but you are such low-hanging fruit.

The Second Civil War is coming
Read a little American history. The first Civil War/War Between the States/War for the Southern Confederacy became inevitable when the politicians "punted" with the so-called Compromise of 1850. The subsequent Dred Scott decision was icing on the cake. The immigration bill now in Congress is the new Compromise of 1850 - it WILL pass because too many vested interests want it and too many politicians have been bought and paid for. It is a done deal. The second civil war will start when native-born American citizens find social Security bankrupted as a result of the naturalization scheme Bush will sign with Mexico coupled with the fact that the illegals will get SSN benefits after paying in for only 18 months. Next, more and more hospitals will go bankrupt, school districts will go bankrupt because homeowners will vote down the demanded tax increase referendums to fund programs for all of the newly legal immigrant children. Black America will find itself marginalized into a new under-underclass. Food prices will continue to go up because the Chamber of commerce types have no intention of passing any "savings" on to the consumer. Alarmist? I don't think so. Even as complacent a group as the American citizenry will finally take up arms when they find themselves being bankrupted and even going hungry because of the deluge of the immigrants. Count on it - it will not be pretty.

Per Harry Reid, they're
“Undocumented Americans”

I love the twisting of the language.

"Unlicensed pharmacist" = drug dealer.

"Unauthorized tax collector" = armed robber.

"Unscheduled euthanasia" = murder.

My favorite:

"Unresponsive government" = Bush and the Senate.

Write not right.

Surely it has got to be treason, to have a lobby group whose interest is another country, to help right our legislation.

As usual, I'm back on the phone today, for all the good it will do.Many of the Senator's lines are busy, and some mailboxes full. Hopefully it's from conservatives pitching a wall eyed fit.

If you don't hear from me, you'll know I can't get on.

Jobs
My son, who is home from college for the summer, can't find a summer job, but there are alot of latinos working in south georgia. I bet if the government enforced immigration laws there would be plenty of jobs for young americans who are willing to work.

"Bush lied, the country died"
Future slogan based on scamnesty.

Pundits' Ignorance
Do not listen to predictions by professional pundits and journalists (e.g., O'Reilly). The predictions are worse than worthless, they are dangerous. Most of these guys are lazy; they base their opinions on the opinions of other pundits and on what the partisans have to say instead of on an in-depth fact investigation by themselves. How do you think these guys pump out opinions day after day? Do you think these guys are out pounding the pavement? The answer is no to both questions.

nanna
That is a question I have asked from the start. I also asked my senators that question as well. i was told they have a 'right' to be in on the negotiations! Can you say pandering to a voting block? that's exactly what it is. Our government is taking all of us, no matter what your party is, for granted. Real Americans love competition and cannot imagine staying away from the voting booth. In other words they don't have to work nearly as hard for your vote. What I think is telling is how McCain shot himself in the foot with this. As usual when people disagree with him he tries to bully them into agreeing. It's has now backfired. He's proven everything i have said about him true. The man lacks judgement.

Single most improtant sentence
in the column:

"The coalition is simply too powerful for anything as unfocused as mere American public opinion to resist for long."

If that is, in fact, true, then government "of, by, and for the People" is finished, and the country is doomed. Not simply by illegal migration, but by governmental arrogation of power.

If a democratic form of government (and a republic is a form of democracy) fails to be responsive to its constituents, it is no longer democratic.

"Nattering Nabob of Negativism"
Mr. Rusher is doing a disservice to his valiant readers. He is predicting the passage of a catastrophic bill without so much as a call to figurative arms and without telling people that many times over the last decade, enforcement-only reformers have beaten back "done deals." Don't let him infect you with his defeatism. Start working those phones. And we can't feel sorry for ourselves because of the workload once we recall the suffering at Valley Forge. When you despair, get on a blog and express the despair so that others can cheer you up.

BUSH SAID NO AMNESTY TO MEXICANS!!!!
NO AMNESTY TO MEXICAN Border patrol agents, imprisoned for trying to stop a mex drug dealer - he gave them (via sutton) 11 and 12 years for doing their job (see Ann Coulter's column)

YES NANNA
KKennedy ("too bad 'bout Mary") has bragged about inviting RACE to check the bill...
Not Americans, but mex nativists were invited. If that is not treason, I am lost.

LAWLESS PAMPAS
1.Where do I sent $5k fine to avoid 5-year taxes?
2. If ther is no penalty for crimes ## e.g. 5, 7, 9, 66, why would we penalize anybody? Rapists and killers have their needs and motives too, don't they?
3. Potential immigrants - OTM (other than mex), many with university diplomas, will never get here - to take "care" of the mex line will take bureaucrats at least 150 years (this amnesty only).

We ware being sold for a vote.

Name some names...

"The other wing of the coalition consists, paradoxically, of people who mostly vote Republican. But they are businessmen who depend on cheap immigrant labor to fatten their profits, and who are willing to do whatever it takes to keep the current influx of Mexican laborers coming. Their spiritual ancestors were the pre-Civil War slaveowners, who really knew about cheap labor."

I would like to know just who these businessmen are.

Are we now in the destablization phase, or VERY close to it?

La Raza
I usually watch Fox news, but last night, I turned to Lou Dobbs on CNN. He had the president of LaRaza on. She confirmed that they were in on fashioning this Shamnisty bill. Someone please explain to me why in the world was La Raza in on this. Are we letting Mexico help write our laws now?

I'm having trouble posting today, so I may not be able to get back on. But I'll certaintly read any answers anyone may have.

eastlake joe
"..Let them start to enforce the laws on immigration and fining the companies to match the crime..."

Start with fining government employees (not the agency) who fail to secure borders,
provide services to illegal aliens in
welfare,
social security,
education, &
medical treatment.

Then fine lawyers who attempt to defend illegal aliens (the lawyers can sue Mexico for their losses).

Once government employees and lawyers have been held accountable for supporting illegal activity, then go after employers who hire illegal aliens.

It's in our hands
Their pitiful coalition has no chance against the power of the American people. We get to decide and we deserve what we get. The all powerful coalition was brought to their knees by we-the-people and we can do it anytime they want to "tee-up" their Amnesty Bill. The only thing the politicians fear more than their slave owners is us. They can push us just so far and they know it.

So, the fate of their agenda remains in our hands. If we keep the heat on them, a few Republicans won't be bought with a promise of borrowing $4billion to start a fence that they have no intention of building. The brilliance of the Founding Fathers is self-evident. They can't find away around the system on this one.

Gabby
Your contension is wrong. the employers just find it easier to hire the illegals as the government isn't going to do anything about it. Let them start to enforce the laws on immigration and fining the companies to match the crime, you will see entry wages increase.

Stop all unlawful entry
Who's winning the immigration battle? The illegals, that's who.

They're supported by the coalition that Rusher cites.

They're encouraged by the STUDIED lack of border security that permits them entry at will. Even if physical and technological barriers were in place tomorrow, border agents would still be crippled by the Senate bill's failure to specify exactly what "securing the borders" means. There's nothing in the bill to stipulate, as previous bills have done, that this means the prevention of all unlawful entry.

The convictions and incarcerations of the two agents, Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean, who had the temerity to actually try to apprehend a drug smuggler, serve notice to all agents that “catch and release” is the operational policy. The current bill merely translates this to “catch and issue a probationary z visa”.

In contacting our representatives, I think it's important to state that we want all unlawful entry stopped and the borders secured accordingly. Otherwise, the laws we get are likely to be toothless.

Family
Part of the problem in America is the de-moralization of the family unit. The parents are more interested in how much they can earn than teaching their kids morality and work ethic. I came from a one parent family as my mother died when I was five years old. The one thing my father taught me was you gave an honest days work for an honest days pay and you didn't start at the top of the ladder, you had to work your way up. A lot of the kids today graduate from high school with the idea that ten or twelve dollars an hour to start is below them and they won't work any overtime to finish the job for their employer. At 16 I was working for a hatchery 20 to 25 hours a week and going to school. I was a lead man on a crew because the boss could depend on me to get the job done. A lot of the kids today want to lay around and live off mom and dad and smoke their weed and sponge off the world and then when they end up as failures they wonder why. Untill we wake them up from their dream state and show them that this isn't the way to succede it will never change.

Republicans abandoning Bush

WASHINGTON - As President Bush attempts to revive the controversial immigration reform bill he supports, the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll finds that Republicans are abandoning the president, which has dropped his job-approval rating below 30 percent — his lowest mark ever in the survey.

But he isn’t the only one whose support is on the decline in the poll. Congress’ approval rating has plummeted eight points, bringing it below even Bush’s. And just one in five believe the country is on the right track, which is the lowest number on this question in nearly 15 years.

Republican pollster Neil Newhouse, who conducted the survey with Democratic pollster Peter D. Hart, argues that these numbers have crossed below the political “Mendoza line,” referring to the feeble .200 batting-average mark in baseball. “With the mood of the country dropping below 20, and the president’s approval below 30, both are candidates for a sort of political Mendoza line,” he says.

Blame Yourselves
There are no Americans to do the entry level jobs because there are NO AMERICANS to do the jobs.

We now use abortion as the last choice of a totally failed Contraceptive system, we promote the Gay lifestyle of NO children,,we destroy embryos, we Euthanize people, we assist in suicides, we relish the supposed good life with fewer children, we destroy marriage via coupling outside it all at the expense to the ill founded good of selfish parents.

Suck it up America, Immigration is the natural result of or narcissistic moral decay.

The problem is not the family foundation based Mexicans its the Non family based Americans.

You reap what you sow and we are destroying the family in our country.

Not always welcome
A good article, although I am tired of so many people saying, "America has always welcomed immigrants." That's not true. America has always allowed immigrants in, but there was a time (in my lifetime, too) when the country was somewhat discriminating about who got in and who didn't.

In those days, it took time to immigrate to the U.S. because there was a vetting or valildation of the people being allowed in. Now, as so many prospective immigrants are documenting all over the Net, it still takes a lot of time but it's entirely because of bureaucracy. Many of those who have applied years and years ago and have always followed the rules are still very far from being "welcomed" into the country.

As bad as legal immigration has become in terms of futile red tape and making people wait 5 and 6 years, there has never been a time in its history when America just casually opened the door to 20 million foreigners with no skills, no education and increasingly glaring criminal pasts. These illegals are no worse that the Washington machinery trying to let them in.

immigration panic
No one in Washington was even interested in "comprehensive" immigration reform until the problem with the unopposed INVASION of the USA by the third world which lays immediately across our southern doorstep made the headlines because US citizens became "vigilantes" and started their own border patrol and push for a wall of DEFENSE; when Washington noticed that the Us public was becoming aroused, they started their campaign for "MUST HAVE AT ONCE OUR WAY" legislation to excuse their criminal actions of neglect since the 1986 AMNESTY was shoved down the throats of the US people!
Washington, DC doesn't need representation in the US House; it needs to be destroyed, and new union formed!

Give it a rest, Mr. President!
I like his approach to an immigration bill. Simple, but I think an effective start.

Dobbs: Give it a rest, Mr. President
By Lou Dobbs

NEW YORK (CNN) — President Bush is building his legacy, adding another unfortunate line of hollow bravado to his rhetorical repertoire. To “Mission accomplished,” “Bring it on,” “Wanted: Dead or alive,” and of course, “I earned … political capital, and now I intend to spend it,” he has added “I’ll see you at the bill signing,” referring to his own ill-considered push for so-called comprehensive immigration reform legislation.

Bush emerged from a midday meeting with Republican senators on Capitol Hill to declare, “We’ve got to convince the American people this bill is the best way to enforce our border.”

No, Mr. President, someone you trust and respect must convince you that kind of tortured reasoning should never be exposed before cameras and microphones. Isn’t there anyone in this administration with the guts to say, “Give it a rest, Mr. President”?

I believe we now live in Soviet America
If those corrupt Senatorial SOB's bribe their way to passing this bill, we will kill it in the House. And they can all go to h---.

Maybe we should deport these rogue Senators along with the illegals before they all start a revolution.

Did those businessmen think of this?
Just calm down greedy american businessmen, take a valium and take the pressure off your Senators
to stampeed the american electorate into passing the "Don't Ask, Don't tell Immigration Bill.

You would think the Illegals are demanding the hasty passage of this rotten bill as a condition for staying here to work and collect free everythings. Quite the contrary, they are going nowhere. Just look out in the tomato patch tomorrow and all will be there plus a few more "wet ones".

Since 20% of Americas newborns are born to Illegals who make up some 8% of our population
then it follows that that 20% are precious gifts from Americas' taxpayers. If anyone can supply an
example of one of them being "Means Tested" please send it to Hugh Hewitt for posting. Following the example of the immigration bill, I suspect Means Testing would have to be concluded in five minutes or less if at all!

Open up LEGAL immigration then!
I say open up immigration as much as we need it, legally.

But every identity theft, MS-13 gang member, tax avoider, human slave trafficker, drug smuggler, etc... can leave the country and never come back. OBVIOUSLY these are people that will sacrifice anyone else, rape and pillage our country; and are unwanted. Anyone here illegally now is a CRIMINAL, whether Hispanic or British.

Please! More Hispanic immigrants with morals. I'm surrounded in a neighborhood with LEGAL Hispanic immigrants that love and have served to protect this country. Our children grew up together, we BBQ together, we help and appreciate each other.

beware of Rudy on ILLEGALS
beware of Rudy on ILLEGALS
When Rudy was Mayor, he not only made the Big Apple "Sanctuary City," but also proclaimed with zeal-- "If you are undocumented, we WANT YOU HERE!" He is simply trying to crawfish now. He is DOA as far as I am concerned.

Duncan Hunter would do if he can get traction, but the odds (a mere Congressman), the Conspiracy Of Evil establishment, and MM are against him. Fred is SAYING the right things, but has been linked to the globalists before.

He1l, Presidente Jorge sometimes SAYS the right things. Fortunately, America now rightly sees the Quisling-In-Chief as a bad liar and disingenuous advocate for Scamnesty for ILLEGALS-- "all hat, no cattle" there, Jorge. You promised them down in Mexico recently that you would work for THEM on immigration "reform"-- that was naked treason, and some of us heard you, you lying cur! You have already committed surreptitiously to send non-existent S.S. funds down there... let's just send you instead, Jorge-- you already speak their bad Spanish! Vaya al sur con dios, Jorge!

always darkest before the dawn
"We are in the grip of a coalition of businessmen without foresight and politicians without scruples. And anyone who lives through the next fifty years will see the United States transformed from a proud English-speaking nation in the West European tradition into a polyglot multicultural mess."

Mr. Rusher wrote a salient and compelling column here. Sadly, his foreboding prediction seems likely, UNLESS Americans stand up and fight to save ourselves. [See my screeds below for advice on how to join the fight.]

The only real hope is that the 72% (per Rasmussen) which believes that we must stanch the flow of ILLEGALS will rattle their cages in Washington-- but it IS INDEED a long shot that we can counter the money and organization on the other side.

Still, it is a scared mission that we MUST undertake! America will be a TERRIBLE thing to waste... the Reconquista will assure America's demise as it morphs us into a third world barrio welfare state. Care to help prevent that?

top 10 problems with pending Scamnesty
http://vdare.com/misc/070607_economist.htm

The above is a literate analysis of the GLARING, EGREGIOUS flaws in the pending Scamnesty legislation. The new Rasmussen makes pretty clear that almost 3/4 of us want REAL ENFORCEMENT first and foremost:

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/just_26_favor_senate_immigration_plan

Some key excerpts from Rasmussen:
________________________________________________

The enforcement side of the debate is clearly where the public passion lies on the issue. Seventy-two percent (72%) of voters say it is Very Important for “the government to improve its enforcement of the borders and reduce illegal immigration.” That view is held by 89% of Republicans, 65% of Democrats, and 63% of unaffiliated voters.

Advocates of “comprehensive” reform have taken to arguing that those who want an enforcement-only policy must explain how they would deal with the 12 million illegal aliens already living in the country. The public reaction to that question appears to be “Why?” Only 29% of voters say it is Very Important for “the government to legalize the status of illegal aliens already in the United States.”
____________________________________________

Presidente Jorge and many in Congress have NO INTENTION WHATSOEVER of ever defending our border or enforcing immigration laws internally. We need to VOCIFEROUSLY make clear that this nonfeasance, indeed treason and violation of his oath of office, is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!

Contact your people in Congress at their OFFICIAL sites right here, folks:

http://www.congressmerge.com/onlinedb/index.htm

DO NOT DELAY!!! Presidente Jorge again thinks he knows what is best for you even when 72% of us disagree with that quisling boob!

Start with your 2 Senators, then contact your personal Congressman and the others in your state. Let freedom ring out! It is time to demand that we save America for Americans before we all become just the educated, taxpaying gringo minority!!

May God bless and PRESERVE America! It would be a terrible thing to lose. It is in dire risk of morphing inexorably into a third world welfare state if we do not stanch the tsunami of undereducated, indigent ILLEGALS flooding in and permeating throughout.

great analyst of ILLEGAL alien crisis
Check out Lou Dobb's web site here:

http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/lou.dobbs.tonight/

Lou's Top 5 List:

Top 5 Dumbest Things in the Immigration Bill

5) Taxpayers will pay for the immigration lawyers for illegal aliens if working in agriculture.

4) Illegal aliens would be given legal status just one day after their application is filed even if a background check is not completed.

3) Gang members are eligible for amnesty if they renounce their gang status.

2) Borders do not have to be secure before the amnesty program begins.

1) $2,600,000,000,000 -- That is the cost the Heritage Foundation estimates to cover the retirement benefits of 12,000,000 illegal aliens if this amnesty bill becomes law.

Lou's current column (worth a read) suggesting that Presidente Jorge back off (as another great American Sen. Sessions effectively told Jorge):
http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/06/12/Dobbs.June13/index.html

As information, Lou grew up "dirt poor" but graduated from Harvard in Economics on merit. Like Ann Coulter, he is a lightning rod because he too speaks the inconvenient truths that the reconquista crowd is loath to hear, becuase it gives lie to their litany of disingenuous drivel with its ulterior agenda. One of their favorite ploys is the hackneyed ad hominem calumny that he is a "racist" or "xenophobe"... au contraire, his wife of many years is a LEGAL Latino-American (indeed, Mexican heritage).

a letter to Senators
Dear Senator Chambliss:

With regard to the pending amnesty legislation, Washington is simply NOT LISTENING to Middle America! Please consider this excerpt from the latest Rasmussen polling:

**********************************************
The enforcement side of the debate is clearly where the public passion lies on the issue. Seventy-two percent (72%) of voters say it is Very Important for “the government to improve its enforcement of the borders and reduce illegal immigration.” That view is held by 89% of Republicans, 65% of Democrats, and 63% of unaffiliated voters.

**********************************************

Good heavens, even 2/3 of the Democrats think it is VERY IMPORTANT to improve border enforcement and REDUCE ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION! Middle America wants enforcement first!

1) Build the ALREADY APPROVED fence and give us TRUE interior and workplace enforcement!

2) Enforce visa rules

3) No Scamnesty-- there should be NO connection
between a path to citizenship and having come
here ILLEGALLY-- PERIOD!

4) No welfare for ILLEGALS-- PERIOD! We cannot allow Mexico to make America its welfare department.

5) End birthright citizenship unless at least one
parent is a U.S. citizen. Reinterpret the 14th Amendment as it was intended.

6) Pass TRUE reform which stresses immigrants who
can benefit America-- the educated and
skilled. We cannot afford to naturalize the
ILLEGAL aliens-- we will ineluctably morph
into a third world welfare state.

7) Make English the OFFICIAL language-- END OF STORY! Bilingualism will devolve into disaster; no ballots or anything else except in English-- learn or return!

Thanks for considering our views... America is watching VERY CAREFULLY what Congress does.
