Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Republicans owe Hillary our gratitude. She has road-tested several versions of attacks on Obama that don't work. Obviously, and first, don't come out against change and hope -- the perennial themes of successful election campaigns. In 1984, even my old boss Ronald Reagan campaigned for re-election in response to the claim that America needed to change, on the words: "We ARE the change," as well as on the hopeful theme of "morning in America."

If a candidate is not for change, he is not for us. It has been almost two centuries since Prince von Metternich gained the first ministry of the Hapsburg's Austrian empire by assuring the emperor that his administration consciously would avoid any "innovation."

Nor will Americans ever vote for presidential candidates based on what the candidates have done for us already. In American politics, gratitude is always the lively expectation of benefits yet to come. The question is always, What will you do for us tomorrow? Americans will not give Sen. McCain the White House because we are grateful for his heroism 40 years ago at the Hanoi Hilton. We are grateful, and he was heroic. Americans might gladly vote for him to receive a medal, or even an opulent retirement home, but not the presidency.

Beyond these obvious points, Republicans should learn from Hillary's campaign that Obama is remarkably adept at ridiculing the old style of campaigning. He cheerfully and in a cool, understated tone will slice and dice overly broad charges, such as Hillary's "inexperience" taunt or her ill-considered "words vs. action" charge. (And by the way, after seven years of Bush's verbal infelicity, there is a hunger for eloquence. Moreover, eloquence is good. Consider Lincoln, FDR, Churchill, Reagan -- even Bill Clinton in a cheesy, insincere way.) Obama must have been tempted to use that old Humphrey Bogart line, when Bogart asked of someone who couldn't keep up with him: "What do you want me to do, learn to stutter?")

Overly broad charges against him are dangerous. Republicans will make a mistake if they take to calling him "too liberal for America." He is too liberal, but they need to make the charge specific point by specific point. If they try to pigeonhole him as a liberal, he will refuse to perch in such a hole. He is a golden falcon, not a fat pigeon. He will swoop down verbally on his accuser and point out how he is not liberal at all on that point -- but his accuser's record is.

For instance, if he is accused of being in bed with the teachers union, he will point out (even while still in his pajamas after a motel night with the union, metaphorically speaking) that he once told a Milwaukee newspaper he was open to considering vouchers -- even though he is against them -- if it would be good for the kids. Make no mistake, this guy isn't only good with inspirational rhetoric; when it comes to policy slipperiness, he makes Bill Clinton look slow-witted and honest.

The overall lesson to take away from the Democratic primary season so far is that big charges against Obama backfire on the accuser. Beware of Hillary's ill-fated decision to play Sonny Liston to Obama's Cassius Clay. (Clay changed his name to Muhammad Ali after the first Liston fight.) In that fight, Sonny Liston threw slow, heavy roundhouse punches, which Clay easily slipped while delivering a flurry of combinations at the off-balance Liston. Sound familiar?

When Liston refused to respond to the seventh-round bell (claiming a sore shoulder), Clay stood up, shouting, "I am the greatest! I shook up the world!" Whether Hillary refuses to compete after the March 4 bell (perhaps on the claim of a sore head), we don't know yet. But we can be sure that Obama is too disciplined to scream to the world that he is "the greatest." Although it would not surprise any of us if he thinks to himself as he looks into the mirror while shaving: "Am I good or what!"

If Obama can be defeated, it will not be with a meat cleaver but with a surgeon's scalpel. This is difficult in a national campaign in which the public, almost of necessity, must be communicated with by slogans. But Obama is the master responding to blustery charges with wry, dry irony.

The Republicans must systematically make a hundred tightly argued, irrefutable critiques of very specific examples of Obama's policy being wrong for at least 60 percent of America.

America may be going through one of our episodic style shifts. In 1932, FDR's conversational style trumped Hoover's old oratory. In 1960, JFK's coolness and wit caught the emerging post-World War II sophistication of our culture. Twenty years later America, tired of sophisticated cynicism, was ready to return to Reagan's old-fashioned sentiments and values.

Obama is tapping into a curious alchemy of youthful idealism tempered by Internet edginess. Republicans must communicate their values and policies through that prism, or they will not communicate at all.

Why does Hussien pose as a black man
will somebody please ask that race pim.p why he is masqueardng asa "black" man?

The truth:

His father is an Arab, and his mother is white-he has a black --paternal grandfather-so he really is not a black man at all. Ok, he is maybe 6 % black at most.

But hey, this racial masquerade got him into law school and now its helping him bamboozle gullible idiots who want to "make history" by electing the first " black" President

And One More Thing...
...Notice that Obama corrects his errors from one debate to the next. You can actually see the learning curve. This man is a very fast learner. He is the student who castigates himself for the missed question on the test and who goes home and reads up on that question all night long so that he will NEVER make that mistake again.

As for the scalpel vs the meat cleaver, I don't actually see McCain managing the scalpel. In debate with Obama he would (My friends, My friends) come across as Methuselah on tranquilizers.

But thanks, TB, for acknowledging that Obama is not the gossamer dope that many townhallers think he is. I love your bird imagery. Is your golden falcon a Firebird?

Cornpone
Cornpone, you are a fool. Sixty years ago a man looking exactly like Obama would not have been seated in a nice restaurant. He would not have been registered at a nice hotel. If he lived in the South he might have gotten into major trouble if he "looked the wrong way" at a white woman. If he had gone to look at an apartment for rent in a white neighborhood, chances are great that when the owner got a look at him, the apartment would suddenly not be for rent any more. And I suspect, Cornpone, that if you had been there too, you would have called him "Boy" and forced him to get off the sidewalk when you strutted past. It must absolutely be eating your liver that Obama has progressed beyond you in our present world.

Cornpone
I hear that Tiger Wood is really white and is just masquerading as black so that, since he generally misses the ball when he swings, everybody will be so blinded by their racial guilt that they will perceive him as actually having hit the ball.

Who cares...
...whether the guy is 6% 'black' or 160% 'black'(meaning of African decent)? Check the dudes skin color. He is a dark skinned man. That is all that counts to the libs. The fact that he is intelligent, young and energetic are all pluses. I sincerly believe he is honest (at least as honest as any politician can be) as well.

For me, having experience, lots of experience is a requirement too. Having an agenda I agree with and a plan for implementing that agenda is also a bonus. But one can not have everything. At least with Obama we have 'Hope'.

It's all bubble and crappy analysis
Well, let's put things in perspective.

1. Obama won many states, except the big ones such as California, New York, New Jersey, and etc.

2. With her dislike factor of around 40s, who do you think that cannot beat Hillary, especially when you consider her lousy performance.

3. With total adulation from the liberal media of Obama, what else do you expect?

4. With all the left-wing and some of the independents who are tired of the Iraq drumbeat, do you think they will go to Hillary?

5. You can win the election (primary) in this case if you are different from your opponent on issues. But what is the different between Obama and Hillary on issues? Nada.

6. You can win the election if you can attack your opponents (for those who say election campaigns should be nice and focus on issues, they are completely naive). But the trouble is, Hillary's campaign cannot even find the right angle to attack Obama without fearing any backfire...due to, again, their support on Obama. Even to show a picture where Obama wore a Muslim dress, was considered taboo.

7. Lastly, it is not politically correct to attack (not physically) a non-white (read: black) political candidate.

At the end of the day, what's left is crappy analysis about Obama's rising to the top.

another gem, Tony
Great analysis and it will be interesting to see (assuming Obama gets nominated) whether McCain knows how to use a scalpel.
It is also interesting to see the youth come alive! With all the old fuddy-duddies running this country in the same old way (pork and influence) it is no wonder young people have not been interested in politics.

Tony may be right
Political animals like Tony recognize another one like Obama. At this point, it looks increasingly like Obama has over-taken Hillary in Texas, and is closing in Ohio. Hillary's problem is that she has a base of support, but cannot expand on that base. Her numbers do not grow - they stay static or deline as they become more familiar with Obama. This was the same problem the Democrats would have had in the general if she were the candidate. 47% of the American people did not want her as President. And that number would never change. The GOP has a similar problem with McCain. He's well known, as are his positions. Obama, as a result, has more room to maneuver than McCain. He has run to the left in the Democratic primary, and can more easily run back to the center in the general. He may be a liberal in the context of his short voting resume, but he will sound like a centrist and a moderate. And since his voting record is so thin, it will be difficult to portray him otherwise. McCain's problem is two fold. On the one hand, he's an old Washington politician, and American's generally vote against Washington politicians, not for them. And, his voting record is mixed. He can differentiate himself on the war, but not on a range of other issues where he sounds very much like Obama. Immigration, environment, globalism, and trade, are four such examples. In addition, he will have to give a nod to health care, which will muddle that issue as well. Costs, which have risen 78% in the last 7 years have simply skyrocketed. Not only are present costs taking an increasing part of everyone's paycheck, but if these costs continue, it will become increasingly unaffordable for many American's. McCain will have to do more than talk about keeping things as they are, he will have to offer a vision and hope, much as Reagan, JFK and FDR did. I suspect Tony is right. Hope will win out.

soooo many mixed race voters.....
in this Country today. Someone's white mother got involved with a black man, someone's white mother got involved with a hispanic man, someone's white father got involved with an Asian woman, and so on and so on, despite what their families may have told them. In other words America, the true REASON for the ground swell. Rejection and denouncing the racial sterotypes of old America have fallen by the roadside.

The millions of children of mixed race parenting have grown up.
They have lived with the smear attacks and rude awakening that they were different, merely because of the color of their skin.

Yes, Yes, We Can!!

That is what is happening in America today!!

WAKE UP AMERICA!!

Give us back our pride
McCain needs to do what Reagan did. He needs to tell us how great a country we are. He needs to tell us how proud of our country we are. He should give us back the right to openly stand up for what is right with our country and agree that there are some things that we need to change, but not the soul of our country. Our soul is not broken as Obama says, it is wounded from all the liberals telling us we are always wrong. WE ARE NOT BROKEN! We are just scared! Stand up John McCain! Stand up and be the man that this country needs you to be right now! Do not allow this socialist to set foot in our white house! Stand up and tell us what we need to hear to get us to follow you, you who we are so unsure of. LEAD US, JOHN MCCAIN!

lilly the stupid
everyone has the picture. You would not hesitate to supply your new love oblahma with a monica to show your deep affection for the fool. Other than his empty campaign of hope and promises of more socialism what can americ a count on but much higher tax rates and huge govt spending. His plans to datge call for increases of 880 billion dollars which by washington terms is a mere fraction of what the total costs will be. But your pathetic attempts to paint america as racist if they don't support your new messiah shows the emptiness of your arguments. This notion that women are fainting in his presence is just as staged as the questions tossed towards the missus clinton. Your new love talks of hope but why should america be expected to pay for his pipe dreams. He would at least have some credibility if he were proposing cutting some programs or diverting spending but he does not. He has pledged to maintain the status quo and uphold the strangle hold the various special interest groups have over the dim party. A sonorous voice and the empty campaign of hope isn't going to change congress. He may be your ideal but he will find that the congress may not give him the legislation necessary to pay off on all the bribes he is offering to purchase this election

Carol
It is exactly because we are a great country and because we love our country that we must have a change. Obama's focus is that attention must be paid to the needs of our middle class. How in the world does that make him a Socialist? Methodically, Bush has taken wealth away from the middle class and handed it over to wealthy business. Ah, Republicans say, that is the way to HELP the middle class because wealth trickles down from the wealthy. Only it hasn't happened that way. After 7 years of Bush, here is where our middle class sits:

1) Our manufacturing jobs have been sent abroad.
2) They have been sent to countries with terrible labor standards and poor quality control; the products we buy reflect that.
3) Our housing market is in the worst shape since the Great Depression.
4) Our investments are doing poorly. It's hard to find a CD rate or a money market rate higher than 2% or 3% and the stock market has lost a lot of money for most of us.
5) Inflation. Every one of us who puts gas in a car or buys groceries can attest to that.
6) Many have lost medical insurance and/or retirement pension.
7) Our infrastructure is crumbling: cities, highways, bridges need expensive repairs.
8) We can't afford to pay our bills and under Bush have borrowed the money, mostly from Asia.
9) Bush involved us in a war that benefits the GOP and its rich friends but that is costing us billions per month, money we also borrow.

I have limited this post to economic issues and won't even get into all that Bush has done to trash our civil rights, defile our international reputation, and kill and maim our youth.

We Democrats are very proud of our country. What we are ashamed of is what has been done to it. It is indeed time for a change. Go Obama.

It Still Comes Down to Turnout
McCain, before he can go on the offensive, must still secure his base;otherwise, he's finished. His handlers, however, are hoping against hope that enough liberal independent, and moderate voters will cross party lines and vote for his this November.

Strange election cycle. No GOP candidate in modern history (since FDR) has won an election without overwhelming support from the conservative base. If McCain cannot get high conservative turnout, there will not be enough cross-over voters to tip the scales. In short, you cannot go after that 3-5% middle ground without first securing your 30% base. McCain and his managers, in thier efforts to steal liberal voters, are ignroing the base.

Obama will peak this summer. His empty, sunshine rhetoric will only go so far. Blankley is wrong. Obama will fall at sometime during the campagin -they all do. Obama doesn't have the skill to recover. Unfortunatly, McCain will refuse to attack where Obama is weakest - the issues.

lilly the liar
the truth is youHATE america and all it strands for. You continually trash everything this country does and stands for because it simply is not the socialist workers paradise you wisdh it to be. You cfry crocodile tears when the market drops 200 points in one day. When the previous object of your undying love left the presidentcy the dow jopnes was 7200, today it is 12600. You moan about people having troublke with paying bills, affording housing, buying drugs but you never seem to hold anyone accountable for not preparing for their own retirements. You claim food stores are selling unsafe food merely for profits yet cannot offer any proof. In point of fact there is nothing about america that you can point to as good. Now you think that by telling america that it is racist if it doesn't support you new love object. You can monica oblahma all you want but until he changes his mantra from promising to maintain the status quo. Yet he promises no changes to the teachers union and their mounting failures. He promises the trial lawyers more access to lawsuits that are already costing the country billions in increased prices for every product and service we use. And explain how his billions in increased spending and the huge tax increases we will all be stuck with does anything to benefit america. And explain the simple phony act of those women fainting in his presence. Even someone as stupid as you can see that as staged

Wildwest
Re "why should America pay for [Obama's] pipe dreams?": What you call a pipe dream is what the civilized world calls "a decent standard of living". It's what we used to enjoy in the United States of America. A steel worker with security in his job, health insurance, a retirement pension, an adequate house, a little bit put by, and some assurance that he could give his kids a start in life---is that a pipe dream? Or the American dream?

I do not care whether Obama makes people faint; personally, I have never fainted in all my long life. I think that under the smile and the nice speeches, Obama makes a lot of sense. He has also shown his expertise as an administrator in running an astonishingly successful campaign. And I couldn't care less what color he is---I care about his vision for this country. But what George Bush has done to this country just about makes me faint. See my post to Carol.

Republicans will never get minority vote
with people like cornpone harry in the party:

"cornpone harry writes: Wednesday, February, 27, 2008 12:41 AM

Couldn't bring myself to reprint the rest of his garbage.

Anyway, good article by Blankley. You guys have an uphill battle against Obama.

Lily
1)We exported over $2 trillion of manufactured goods in 2007 (aircraft, tractors, machine fixtures, communications equipment, etc...)the most ever in real dollar terms.

2)Most of our exported manufacturing is in areas where the skills and pay are so low that it makes no sense to manufacture them here.

3)Our housing market is just fine. A correction is over due. Most home prices were too high.

4)You cite 2 of the worst investments: CDs amd Money markets. Stocks still out perfrom both. Example: Boeing posted a 7% profit, Apple 18%.

5)The two biggest areas of inflation: energy and food are caused by goverment policies concerning supply. There are still hughe untapped energy supplies in North America that the goverment prevents usage. The recent ethanol mandates have consumed over 25% of our corn supplies. Take away energy and food and inflation is belwo 2%

6)Infrastructure: the Fed is spending $3 trillion annually -over $500 billion on infrastructure. Money isn't the problem.
7)The Dems voted to support the war and refuse to actually withdraw.

pathetic lilly
your dream of america always involves more america. You p*ss and moan about what people don't have. How many of those employed by unions received health benefits at no cost. One small example, my brother worked for a totally unionized company. The company paid 100% of the health costs for their employees. The company facing financial difficulties asked the union to make a marginal co-pay on doctors visits. This cost would have been 10 dollars. They went on strike rather than pay this marginal amount. Is it fair that those who did work to buy homes and find the money for down paymnets are now seeing their equity dissapear to pay for those sub prime loans and all those who got into hoimes with no down payments. Why is america being punished to support those who under normal rules of finance could never qualify for loans that they are now defaulting on. As fgor his success at running a campaign. Being successful against the tin eared, ham fisted and stubble footed missus clinton is not a mark of real leadership. The missus clinton only proved to be an inempt campaignor who thought the nomination was hers for the taking. Obviously the voters in your party saw things differently. Vague promises aren't going to solve the problem and if oblahma thinks he has this magic temperment that is going to solve every problem both here and around the world he is dangerously naive. Your own party is to deeply ingrained with special interest that he promises no changes to. The world remains a dangerous place that a novice with no international experience fails to understand. No person is so gifted that he can automatically lead other nations to unite. Even your former love bubba was unsuccessful in international politics. A pretty face and sonorous voice doesn't make up for inexperience. You may be inspired by his rhetoric many of us see someone with no idea of how the world really is

one more thing, silly lilly..
'trashed your civil rights?' I'm so sick of the liberal blah blah blah.

You name me ONE 'right' of yours that's been 'trashed.'
It won't count, unless it's SPECIFIC...

Were you hauled out of your bed one night?

Found out people are listening in on your inane phone conversations?

Found yourself in front of a judge, accused of acts of terrorism and not allowed to see a lawyer?

Give me a break.

I am so sick of
these dems who say they are for helping the middle class. They couldn't care less, if they did, they wouldn't have instituted all these welfare programs to buy votes which are paid for by the middle class. It certainly isn't the rich, there aren't enough of them.

Trillions of dollars wasted on the "war on poverty", what changed other than our taxes got steadily higher in an effort to buy off the people who burned our cities in the 60's?

They say they'll soak the rich. it's people who got rich by starting small businesses that provided most of the jobs in this country. Why penalize them for their hard work and contribution to everyones welfare?

They argue that the rich already have enough money like I heard colmes say on TV a day or so ago. What arrogance! They earned it and it's nobodies business how much they have or what they do with it. If my kid can start a business right out of college and employ 100 people who pay taxes, why don't these whiners who have their hands out do the same?

The answer is they think WE owe them something and the dems keep up that charade to buy their votes which keeps them poor which is just fine with dems as long as they vote..These folks are just too stupid to realize who has been shafting them for generations.

If liberals think obama is the answer then they will have truly drunk the kool-aid and can kiss this country good bye, he's more naive than carter or he's the biggest charlatan since PT Barnum. Either way, he is far too dangerous to POTUS.

correction
I meant to write lilly only believes in more govt and even more govt

Forget about beating Obama
Folks did you every meet Obama, he is impressive. He has the sway of a good honest street hustler. He could sell a junker car and the tell you it was the best thing you could drive. Talking to him and shaking his hand you are impress. No wonder Mayor Daley of Chicago was floor by him. Mayor Daley call in favors so Obama could get into the State of Illinos and even more to get him elected as a US Senator. He is a person where little old ladies who choose to cash their welfare checks and give him money while not having food for their own children. The Jews in Chicago gave him money in spit of him saying that the "Walls in Israel" should be torn down.
He told the Black community that the goverment will send their children to college for nothing and that they will get back those lost jobs that the illegals took from them.
He does know what heart strings to pull.
Having the Internet at his hands he can offer millions of college students the same deal for if he is elected as President they go to college for nothing.
He has my vote for Yale get ready, I is comeing.

9) Bush involved us in a war that benefits the GOP and its rich friends but that is costing us billions per month, money we also borrow.

How has this war benefitted the war benefitted the rich friends....

OBAMA'S CAMPAIGN

CANDY MAN LYRICS SAMMY DAVIS JR

Who can take a sunrise, sprinkle it with dew
Cover it with choc'late and a miracle or two
The Candy Man, oh the Candy Man can
The Candy Man can 'cause he mixes it with love and makes the world taste good

Who can take a rainbow, wrap it in a sigh
Soak it in the sun and make a groovy lemon pie
The Candy Man, the Candy Man can
The Candy Man can 'cause he mixes it with love and makes the world taste good

The Candy Man makes everything he bakes satisfying and delicious
Now you talk about your childhood wishes, you can even eat the dishes

Oh, who can take tomorrow, dip it in a dream
Separate the sorrow and collect up all the cream
The Candy Man, oh the Candy Man can
The Candy Man can 'cause he mixes it with love and makes the world taste good

The Candy Man makes everything he bakes satisfying and delicious
Talk about your childhood wishes, you can even eat the dishes

The campaign
The first book in "The Chronicles of Narnia," by C. S. Lewis, is entitled "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe." I am planning to write a novel about the current presidential campaign entitled "The RINO, The Witch, and The Empty Suit."

campaign fiction
The first novel in the series "The Chronicles of Narnia," is entitled, "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe." I am planning a novel about the current presidential campaign to be entitled, "The RINO, The Witch, and The Empty Suit."

Not again
The old TH double post disease is back, I see.

ROUGHSHOD AND OLD STUFF
Yesterday on the news I watched a clip of a conservative radio talk show host who was holding a Republican rally and in his speech he used the name Barrack Hussein Obama, it was not in vain but Senator McCain upbraided the man for using the name. I believe the Senator is a can short of a six pack.

This demonstrates to many that his habits are embarrassing to all who are Republicans and not RINO's, he will not get along with Conservatives and finally and without doubt he is a muddle headed maverick. Yes, he is still a hero, so what?

Obama
Just saw a clip of Obama on Fox News a few minutes ago, and he was making fun of McCain's response that Obama is naive as to what is happening in Iraq. His audience was grinning. Especially at the remark he made that he knows all about Irag; he reads the papers, and it is all Bush's and McCain's fault that our troops are there. Doesn't believe there is an Al Queda base possibly planning new attacks on the U.S.
I would hope that every time he appears on TV, that the clip of the towers being attacked be shown in the background.
Stupid people sitting there grinning, thinking that he is going to change those murderers. He will be happy to TALK to them.

say what you want about obama
(and some of you are way over the line)

for years i have been told by some conservatives that race should not matter when it comes to affirmative action and now all of a sudden, the racial epitaphs start to appear.

that is complete hypocrisy.

as i said in an earlier post the under 40 americans don't see race, they grew up with michael, tiger and oprah.

but back to my point that anyone who can beat the clinton machine starting from scratch

says all you need to know about his experience and ability to lead.

MlDoggg
Good Afternoon! I see you've come back to make half baked charges call people childish names. You are quickly becoming a liberal poster child, though your going to have to reach a level of ignorance combined with condescencion even you have yet to muster if your going to compete with Robert and Hal. Looking forward to it.

belle
all we have to fear is fear itself.

i am no longer afraid of a bunch of stone age clerics.

they can attack us again but will not bring us down so why are we so obsessed with them.

the american civil war killed 700000 americans and we survived.

maybe, just maybe, getting rid of bush and putting a younger man in his place may make things better but then some conservatives are afraid of hope and the idea that things can get better.

Blankley
This is one of the best articles yet about the dilemna that is Barack Obama. There are many problems trying to run against this guy that even the Clintons were unable to overcome. Chiefly, the fact that he is eminently likeable, Hell I like him, and I know what his politics are. I wouldn't vote for him, but again that's because I know what his politics are. The people that are supporting him don't know and/or don't care what his politics are. It is a cult of personality that compels his supporters, and that is something that won't be beaten even with a death of a thousand cuts. Furthermore, he will not have to take out after McCain, the drive-by's will do that for him. McCain won't go after him, he has said as much. Anything that is said about Obama will be met with charges of racism, and B.O. won't even have to say the words. The racism charge will scare away the moderates and independents McCain is trying to get in a heartbeat.
Still, if it is possible for senator hot-head to beat the Man of Hope, Blanley's strategy is probably the best one. Good article.

religiouslib
Wow, you proved me right faster than I thought possible. Somebody criticises B.O., and you immeadiately play the race card. Oh well, anyone could see that coming. As to your not caring about stone age clerics, well, I'm not so afraid of them either so long as our soldiers are doing what they can to send them to meet Allah. It's a nice cavalier attitude you have about not caring about whether we get hit again, though I imagine you might change your tone if they blow up your wife or one of your kids. If it is strangers that get blown up on American soil, it's no skin off your nose, right?
Putting a young man in office may or may not make things better, however putting an avowed socialist in office will most assuredly make things worse-young or old. But keep believing in hope and change, that will surely scare the terrorists.

He's just the right guy
for all those who had their crush on Bill. (Come to think of it that explainss all the wounded and bleeding souls he's here to fix. I couldn't figure that out out....)

He IS the new Bill. It must be so awful for the Clintons, to be beat by their own tactics (out-clintoned), and for Bill, to be cast aside for a new boy toy (the trophy candidate!).

BASEBALLDOC: Your idea of letting the candidates question each other is no less than BRILLIANT. Boy, we'd know alot about them after that (both ways).
I thought the UTUBE idea that CNN did actually had some merit. There were some pretty tough questions. Of course the democrats didn't agree to do one of those....

religious lib
where do you come up with this pablum you spoon out. Hope and change is not the sole property of libs. But as typical with libs they believe they have the sole answer for everything and refuse to acknowledge they bear a great deal of blame for many of the problems that face society. Perhaps if your ilk preached personal responsibility and reliance on one's self rather than always looking to govt to solve the problems they have created society wouild be betyter off. But like all libs that come to these threads you instantly revert to victim status when critisized. YToiur ignorance of history is really startling. Comparing the blood cult tfrom the middle east that is determined to rule the world has nothing in common with our own civil war. Parading stupidity doesn't make a coherent argument. That muslims are seeking weapons that can kill millions merely to pursue their desire to rule the world should be worrisome to all of western society. That muslims don't hesitate to kill any and all that oppose them in their own socieities should be sending out warning messages to all. If muslims have no problem with killing those who share their religion what makes you think they be be the least bit hesitant to kill those outside their faith. Obviously the horros of 9/11 make no dent in your understanding of the world

ontime (1:06pm)
You seem to be suggesting that Sen McCain was wrong to distance himself from the remarks of that crass talk show host at his rally. 'Scuse me, but that guy was a whack job. Sen McCain has plenty to campaign on with the issues--there are substantial differences in those. He doesn't need to resort to the slapstick name-calling that guy was doing.
(Don't become a political consultant)

the usual lib trolls
it would be refreshing if for once they held a relevant argument. But the limits of their abilities come from mouthing the talking points their masters tell them to post. That the libs not only hate themselves but hate america because it hasn't become a socialist paradise is readily apparent. They now think their new messiah, oblahma will save the world. But what the libs/dims won't acknowledge is that their own party is washington is just as corrupt and in the pockets of the special interest they accuse the repubs of being. swimmer kennedy cries about the ills of society but the programs he backed continue to fail. He claims to care about people but never worked to get universal health plans passed. He cries about people not paying taxes while he keeps the kennedy's millions hidden away in offshore trust funds and not taxable by the govt. Perhaps libs should change their name to the hypocrite party. Everything they cry about as being unfair they find ways to avoid paying what the rest of us pay for

SunThe1...

"The New Bill"... So true!

But, can a "Moderate" like McCain manage to paint Obama as anything other than a "Less-Moderate" ?

I think McCain's chances are certainly rested on choosing a Conservative V.P.

Hope :)

religiouslib
Some due respect, but it seems to be you and Lilly and other self-identified liberal posters who keep bringing up race.
You would like it to be an issue.
It would benefit your cause for it to be an issue, not ours. I reckon that's why you keep trying to make it an issue.
Believe me, it ain't the issue.

sun
it seems with the libns the only qualifier that matters is that oblahma is black. Unfortunately the msm is not asking probing questions concerning anything that oblahma stands for or advocates. The media has dropped their investment in the clintons and are now acting as oblahma's cheerleader and part of his campaign organization

religiouslib
You write that they (terrorists) can hit us again and they won't bring us down.
You may have a point there. I mean look at Israel--bombs and rockets practically every day. Doesn't bring down the country, and certainly wouldn't bring down the US.

Some haven't noticed, but our brave military have them somewhat busy at the moment. But maybe it would be better if we brought them home. A period of daily rocket attacks in schools and marketplaces would probably do this country some good, actually. Maybe your guys are right.

You are correct though. I agree that these stone-age clerics, as you called them, can't really destroy us, no matter how many bombs they strap on their mentally ill.

No, what will destroy us is ourselves as we go soft, get taken care of, appease.
I more wary of the enemy everyone denies and therefore ignores. As some have said, (Kruschev: "we'll take you without firing a shot".) We won't be brought down by a big explosion, but by the small erosions.

A New Version
Obama is the new version of Jeb Clampet goes to Beverly Hills, with this version, B.Hussein Obama goes to The Whitehouse, maybe.
Obama&mama actually looks like "American Idol." There's the auditions, the judgings, the groupies, the swooning females, the pop music, the rap, the celebrities, Hollywood, Muslims, publicity, flashing lights, line and line being repeated over and over, come together, come together, a new way, a new way. It's all there. Soon it will be show time and it will be all up to the judges to pick the American Idol.

sun
you are right the blood cult lacks the werewithal to bring down our society. But I don't want to see another 9/11 or worse because we became less vigilant. Our problem remains that the blood cult will sacrifice millions of their own citizens to destroy the west. Our dilemma remains will we be willing to inflict ewnmough casualties to keep these killers at bay should they initiate real war

Lessons 1, 2 and 3
How to beat Obama:

1) Don't nominate John McCain or any other liberal for the Republican ticket.

2) Don't alienate the conservative base of the Republican party.

3) Hammer home, repeatedly, how Obama's rhetoric is all about how incompetent we are and how he as Uncle Sam plans to do FOR us. Emphasize that gov't is the problem, not the solution. Emphasize that you're only going to lift the burden of gov't from the people, and then the American entrepreneurial spirit will do the rest.

In short, tell the electorate that you believe in them, not the gov't.

Did I mention not-running Mccain?

As we are
being brought down. Cicero mentions the traitors within the gates beinc worse than murderers and he was right in his day and right in ours.
I wonder what it will take to get the American people really involved in this war? None of the past attacks have made a dent on their pleasure merry go round. That's one of the reasons I think, that Obama has such adoring crowds, they
think it can't happen here because they have hope. And Obama is just the man to change everything into utopia. What a bunch of pablum.
The koolaid drinkers are a spoilt, indulged generation, indoctrinated with the left's dogma
so they don't have the critical thinking skills to really digest what he, Hillary and McCain are
really saying. McCain's wimp out in Cincinatti is a mirror of his general campaign, he's not tough, he's borderline senile, and a cranky old goat as well.

Americans will elect an American Hero
over a junior senator without any major accomplishments but whose entire campaign hinges on "making everything good again" never mind so far, in his career, his ACTUAL RECORD of change is not even a quarter of what McCain has changed in his career in public service. Here is Rumassen's polls that tell the story of who will get the benefit of a doubt this fall...
McCain now leads Obama 46% to 43% and Clinton 48% to 43%. Obama is viewed favorably by 51% and unfavorably by 46%. McCain’s numbers are 55% favorable, 42% unfavorable. Clinton earns positive reviews from 47% of Likely Voters nationwide and negative assessments from 52%.
McCain is trusted more by 55% of voters when it comes to National Security issues. Obama is trusted more by just 30% on this point. Just half (51%) of Democrats express more trust in Obama than McCain on national security. Unaffiliated voters prefer McCain by a two-to-one margin. On Iraq, McCain has a much smaller advantage—49% trust McCain while 39% prefer Obama. When it comes to the economy, 45% prefer McCain while 39% trust Obama more.
VOTE FOR AN AMERICAN HERO VOTE FOR MCCAIN!

for Carol
Carol writes: "Our soul is not broken as Obama says, it is wounded from all the liberals telling us we are always wrong. WE ARE NOT BROKEN! We are just scared!"

Wasn't Romney's campaign slogan "Washington Is Broken"?

That's on YouTube for all to see.

My suggestion: Learn from history
I would write McCain the following speech, to be given to a young audience:

"Doctrinaire liberalism was already tried once, in the 1960s and 1970s. It flopped, which is why it was discarded. Before we elect Senator Obama, we should remember what went wrong the last time we tried to run the country by the tenets of liberalism...."

And then I would launch into a short history lesson of the 1970s. I would go over all of it: The Communist advances abroad. The stagflation at home. The energy shortages. The general feeling that America was in decline and America actually DESERVED to be in decline. Culminating in the Iran hostage crisis. And I would explain how liberalism contributed to all these debacles.

A lot of young people are backing Obama because they are too young to remember the 1960s and 1970s. And needless to say, their liberal teachers and professors aren't going to teach them how liberalism failed, back then.

So we need to.

Sarah
Who knows who what will come in November but today I would say was a big round for Obama. If is boxing, I would score it 10-8 Obama.

McCain selling Bush's war is going to be a very told sale.

Good luck to your war hero

DrBob

PS Randy Duke Cunningham was a war hero too - acutally a much better aviator than John McCain.

wildwest
I agree. I was responding to a poster who opined that they can attack us but can't bring us down. I suspect he was trying to say that this whole "terrorism thing" is not a big deal. Many libs do feel that it's not. I guess they think it'll just go away or something if we leave Iraq. Part of my post was somewhat sarcastic.

I like your term "blood cult". I have long thought that we needed a better term to describe these scum and don't like the term terrorist (because they probably take pride in that, and because I don't want to let them think we are in terror. They might kill me, but they don't terrorize me).

And by the way, maybe they don't have an endless supply of the willing. I wonder whether their current use of the mentally retarded is a sign that their recruiting is donw.

Lilly
Your party will send more manufacturing and more jobs abroad with all those new taxes they propose to put on business. What incentive do businesses have to locate here?
You're finally getting it though: those evil things called businesses are important. They pay the bills.

PS:
Unless you're a gun owner, none of your civil liberties have been limited or infringed upon in any way.
NAME ONE.

Wildwaste says:
"But I don't want to see another 9/11 or worse because we became less vigilant. "

Typical warpublican ignorance and fear mongering. Vigilance was NOT the problem on 9/11 - the Republican WHite House and Republican congress all had reams of information on a malicious entity known as bin Laden and al qaeda. Islamic terrorism was hardly new by 2001 - nor were the tactics of hijacking jets. In fact, the attack on 9/11 was completely unoriginal - suicide bombers had struck US military targets in the middle east and africa - as early as the mid 80s - when another Republican dunce held the White House and stuck our troops in Lebanon - only to watch 300 die from a suicide bomber. Then ANOTHER Republican incompetent - Bush the Elder, stuck his nose into the hornets nest and here we are. Add Clinton to the mix - held back by a Republican congress far more interested in Monica instead of Madrassa - leading up the our current dunce in chief who was reading to children when our country was attacked on 9/11 - and we've all seen the footage of our wittle boy president and his doe in the headlights reaction.
No sir - it's not about viligance - because the guys we pay for that TRIED to warn the White House (and congress). It's not about a puffed up military, because our assailants used no weapons but the ones purchased at a hardware store- it was about common sense and listening - two things Bush seems incapable of.
A potted plant sitting in the White House on 9/10 would've done better than George Bush - and you guys are GONE in Novemeber!

JD
Who is Commodore Robert?

DrBob says
"McCain selling Bush's war is going to be a very told sale."

He's trying - and unlike Hillary - who's losing because she has no guts, Obama refuses to back down. he says he wants the troops out of Iraq and back into Afghanistan - and McCain sneers:
bbbbut what about al queda in Iraq.
Obama: there wasn't any al qaeda in Iraq before Bush went there!
McCain: Bbbbut al qeada in Iraq...
Obama: bin Ladin in Pakistan!

The American people already hate the war in iraq - realize it wasn't worth it - know our soldiers have died for people who would pisss on their graves - but Warpublicans still sell it - only now they focus on the failed surge...
bbbbut crime is down.
55 dead in a suicide bombing yesterday!
bbbut...

McCain - who has to appease the psycho base, has to keep selling it - while Obama expresses what the majority of Americans feel: before we invade Iran, we're nailing bin Laden and anyone who houses him. and unlike Bush - Obama won't have Richard Perle and Norman Podhoretz whispering "Israel" in his ear...

MilDogg write
Amen.

Republicans...
don't care. They've done the damage they are going to do with Bush and can't go back on it. They are damned to lose. Their hope lies only in that the Democrats will make matters worse in this country and Obama will be a replay of Jimmy Carter. They win by default as Democrats will win this year, only by default.

Blankley speaks fairly but...
Obama's arguments can't be "surgically sliced up" if the fundamental foundation of the issue is so stark. Like, the American people want out of Iraq, and now link the two trillion dollar war to the sagging economy. An AP report showed 68% of people felt ending the occupation would boost the economy and in another poll 60+% wanted troops home within a year, agreeing asymmetrical suicide bombings could continue forever.

With the voters' biggest two issues the war and economy, McCain is starting way out of touch with the public, key independents and moderates especially who swung the 2006 elections so much more then expected.

Obama's other signature issues are campaign finance reform and ethics. Since McCain has been bellying up to the corporate cash trough for decades, I don't know how he will surgically slice into Obama as he's already fighting multiple scandal allegations this early on, whether fair or not, he's got work to do there Obama doesn't.

Finally, the tax cut issues - it seems the American people are fed up waiting for supply side economics to "trickle down" to them as the rich point to the Laffer Curve. McCain will have some fancy dancing to do to convince Joe Sixpack that humongous tax breaks for the ultra wealthy are the way to go after they've stovepiped the financial security right out of the middle class for the last few years....

Necessary Center
Should Obama win, Republicans must deal with their talk radio infotainer Darlings & Friends and their impact on the necessary center. Limbaugh gloats publicly he could torpedo McCain's candidacy merely by supporting him. Why? Because the independents hate him so much they will flee from whomever he supports. Absent a creditable spoiler 3rd party candidate, whomever wins the middle wins. And Limbaugh, et.al., have become the public face of "conservatism" for the middle, more so than candidate McCain. And wear it as a badge of pride they repel more of the necessary center than they attract.

Limbaugh (and Hannity, Coulter, etc), and other ultra-right McCain haters admit, and the primaries clearly demonstrate, that not only are they insufficiently influential to nominate their own preferred "true" conservative, they also repel the necessary center. In their own arrogance & self-admiration (and that of the 7% of the American populace who worship at there), are in danger of giving away not only the presidency, but also the Congress and the Supreme Court, to the godless evil liberals. Whom they hate more than McCain. Not very smart. And they appear not to have the barest inkling of a clue.

What happened to "Permanent Conservative Majority"? A delicious irony is that Limbaugh, et.al., (and Rove), squandered it via their incredible arrogance and stupidity. 22 million listeners per week (93% of the US populace do NOT tune in), oftened touted by Limbaugh and his choir as indicating considerable power in the public market, looks more like just enough power to torpedo your own best interests. Certainly insufficient to nominate or elect. Sometimes, perhaps, it is not so much what is said, but how it is said? And those who worship at the Church of Limbaugh attend church not only for the message, but for the messenger's tone.

Wildwest writes:
"That the libs not only hate themselves but hate america because it hasn't become a socialist paradise is readily apparent."

I'm going to keep quoting it:

"...Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things. Among them are H. L. Hunt (you possibly know his background), a few other Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or business man from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid. "

Insults, apologies fuel Obama’s rise

Politico-They are so sorry.

In the course of the primary campaign, and perhaps in a preview of the fall election drama, Senator Barack Obama has accepted the apologies of three United States senators, a former senator, CNN and various lower-level supporters of Senator Hillary Clinton.

Most of them have apologized for saying something insensitive about Obama’s race, his name, or his heritage. And the dynamic of outrage and offense this campaign has proved race to be a much touchier subject than gender. At times, Obama’s campaign has sought to downplay burgeoning outrage. At others, he’s stoked it for political advantage

Tony Blankley: How to Beat Obama
Mr. Blankley is always a good read, and his advice in this column is probably the best "how to beat Obama" column I have read.

While Obama has a carefully crafted laid back attitude and is shrewd and intelligent, he is where he is today because of three things: He is black, has an adoring media at his feet, and prhaps most important, he is a Marxist. Not just an ordinary marxist, but one who has undoubtedly studied and learned the techniques Vladimir Lenin and 121 other bolsheviks used successfully to take over a nation which covers eight time zones between 1917 and 1921.

The bolsheviks took control of the media (given to Obama), the country was disillusioned by war and a million other malaises (sound familiar). Russia nation remarkably ignorant and fell for simple slogans (Does "Change" resonate. Afterdecades of dumbed down education inspired by political correctness, ours is a remarkably ignorant nation in many respects--including critical thinking skills). And the "leaders" in Russia lived in and represented an outmoded past.

A highly energetic well organized minority, determined and ruthless and prepared to win at any cost, used propaganda and demonstrations and terror (who's criticising Obama, really?), took over Russia. And we still wonder how and why it happened. Alinsky knew, and he taught Barack Hussein Obama. An astute pupil.

Randy Half Way
If poor Randy and his mentality and world view were even halfway close to being halfway correct, then it makes it even more likely and worrisome that one of his enlightened, educated and insightful soul mates will do whatever is necessary...by whatever means necessary...to prevent the disaster which Obama's Marxist revolution would portend for America.

Thank god for the 2nd Amendment?

Obama Can Save America With Jewish Suppt
Jewish Support Crucial For Obama's Prez

OBAMANISM IS THE CURE FOR CLINTONITIS AND MIDDLE EAST STRIFE.

Obamanism is the cure for Clintonitis that has devastated America and I hope Jews all over US rally around Obama and support him to win both the nomination and the Presidency because after he wins, he would help the Jews and Israel as well as settle the Middle East problems.

However, if Jews betray Obama and he loses, Africans worldwide would consider it a betrayal to the whole African people and will never forgive world Jewry.

In retaliation, (eye for eye, remember!) Africa would consider expelling all Jews from Africa who have been mining African Gold and Diamond and enriching themselves for many centuries.

It was African gold and diamond that built international finance, trade and banking that the Jews (Rothschild, Warbug, Rockefeller and others) dominate.

It was African gold and diamond that built Jewish banks and wealth worldwide.

Thousands of years ago, when Jews were starving and nearly perished in Palestine, they took refuge in Egypt, Africa.

If Egypt and Africa did not feed the Jews, perhaps there would be no Jews today.

Jews also took all Egyptian and African science, technology and religious knowledge that have helped them to develop themselves and to get to where they are today: on top of most of the industries and corporations all over the world.

Jews owe Africa and Africans everything they have today because if Africa did not shelter them when they were homeless and starving, they would not be here today.

Let Jews remember who their best friend is!

The only people who have been nice to Jews have been Africans.

It is now payback time and Africans hope you would not bite the hands that fed you and made you rich and the envy of the world today.
