Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

An e-mail from a reader said that, while Hillary Clinton tells lies, Barack Obama is himself a lie. That is becoming painfully apparent with each new revelation of how drastically his carefully crafted image this election year contrasts with what he has actually been saying and doing for many years.

Senator Obama's election year image is that of a man who can bring the country together, overcoming differences of party or race, as well as solving our international problems by talking with Iran and other countries with which we are at odds, and performing other miscellaneous miracles as needed.

There is, of course, not a speck of evidence that Obama has ever transcended party differences in the United States Senate. Voting records analyzed by the National Journal show him to be the farthest left of anyone in the Senate. Nor has he sponsored any significant bipartisan legislation -- nor any other significant legislation, for that matter.

Senator Obama is all talk -- glib talk, exciting talk, confident talk, but still just talk.

Some of his recent talk in San Francisco has stirred up controversy because it revealed yet another blatant contradiction between Barack Obama's public image and his reality.

Speaking privately to supporters in heavily left-liberal San Francisco, Obama let down his hair and described working class people in Pennsylvania as so "bitter" that they "cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them."

Like so much that Obama has said and done over the years, this is standard stuff on the far left, where guns and religion are regarded as signs of psychological dysfunction -- and where opinions different from those of the left are ascribed to emotions ("bitter" in this case), rather than to arguments that need to be answered.

Like so many others on the left, Obama rejects "stereotypes" when they are stereotypes he doesn't like but blithely throws around his own stereotypes about "a typical white person" or "bitter" gun-toting, religious and racist working class people.

In politics, the clearer a statement is, the more certain it is to be followed by a "clarification," when people react adversely to what was plainly said.

Obama and his supporters were still busy "clarifying" Jeremiah Wright's very plain statements when it suddenly became necessary to "clarify" Senator Obama's own statements in San Francisco.

People who have been cheering whistle-blowers for years have suddenly denounced the person who blew the whistle on what Obama said in private that is so contradictory to what he has been saying in public.

However inconsistent Obama's words, his behavior has been remarkably consistent over the years. He has sought out and joined with the radical, anti-Western left, whether Jeremiah Wright, William Ayers of the terrorist Weatherman underground or pro-Palestinian and anti-Israeli Rashid Khalidi.

Obama is also part of a long tradition on the left of being for the working class in the abstract, or as people potentially useful for the purposes of the left, but having disdain or contempt for them as human beings.

Karl Marx said, "The working class is revolutionary or it is nothing." In other words, they mattered only in so far as they were willing to carry out the Marxist agenda.

Fabian socialist George Bernard Shaw included the working class among the "detestable" people who "have no right to live." He added: "I should despair if I did not know that they will all die presently, and that there is no need on earth why they should be replaced by people like themselves."

Similar statements on the left go back as far as Rousseau in the 18th century and come forward into our own times.

It is understandable that young people are so strongly attracted to Obama. Youth is another name for inexperience -- and experience is what is most needed when dealing with skillful and charismatic demagogues.

Those of us old enough to have seen the type again and again over the years can no longer find them exciting. Instead, they are as tedious as they are dangerous.

Sowell Right On
It is easy to get caught up in the din coming from Obama's mouth, especially for the young or inexperienced. One can only hope youth listens to more experienced people. Judging from my own youth, I don't expect such to happen anytime soon.

All I Need
"Voting records analyzed by the National Journal show him to be the farthest left of anyone in the Senate."

That's it.

That's all I need to know about the man.

At some point, the analogy of the "final nail in the coffin" may come up. As far as I'm concerned, that body was buried weeks ago. It's time to stop wearing black and start dating again.

Can't Wait for the Contortionists
We have a few liberal friends who like to visit and tie themselves up in knots trying to "explain" what was "meant" by what would otherwise be considered plain speaking.

I can't wait.

Here's Nature's "clarification"
The harsh empirically provable cause-and-effect reality of the universe is:
"Politics" = person or group A trying to persuade person or group B to obey the will of A.
The so-called "art" of politics = deception.
Politician = deceiver, criminal.
Follower = dupe, victim.
One-Ring (political) Power is inherently evil and inevitably corrupting. Power is its own means and its own end. Power only grows itself. That's why the One Ring corrupts and destroys any and all who wear it, which is why any and all who compete for possession of it are personality disordered and criminally insane.
That is why the dominant individuals of the stupid-human pecking order known by the euphemism, "government", hate the Creator, the self-sustaining, self-owning, self-determining God of the self-owning and self-determining FREE individual.
The true believers in "government" have only three real "rights": 1) the right to believe in the system; 2) the right to pay for the system; and 3) the right to participate in the herd decision-making process up to the point your dissent becomes effective (when it will be promptly outlawed under the so-called "Clear and Present Danger" doctrine invented by Oliver Wendell Holmes in Schenck v. U.S. , 249 U.S. 47 (1919)).
Does anybody out there, in your heart of hearts, actually believe Obama, Billary, or McCain is better qualified to run your own life than you are? If not, then what on earth are we lemmings doing paying any attention to the criminally insane? I don't get it.

What will crush him
If only we can get the word out that as an Illinois rep. Obama voted against a bill designed to aid suvivors of ineffective abotions.

In other word, Robert, Lilly etc. Mr."Ilove everyone" would allow a surviving infant to die on a steel table from neglect be it from freezing or starvation, it does not matter to the man who sees children as "punishment".

"'Yes we can' follow Saul Alinski,Louis Farakhan, Jeremiah Wright, Michelle Obama, Karl Marx and Al Gore to a bleak future devoid of life, liberty or happiness".

Youth
I just came from reading a new columnist here and I have to repeat what I posted there since it applies to Obama's youthful followers.

As Matthew McConaughey said in Dazed and Confused: "The great thing about dating high school chicks is that even though I get older, they stay exactly the same age."

I think this sums up the tactics of the left. Every generation falls for it at first in their idealistic youth. It really is no suprise that the republican party attracts older people and the democrats are always wanting to date the high school chicks.

But wait -- there's more!
Dr. Sowell's great article somehow omitted the end of the Obama quote: " . . . or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment.” Just more great Obama material - the obligatory implication that those who are against illegal immigration are "anti-immigrant", and the oft-noted hypocrisy of Obama criticizing "anti-trade" peons while exploiting the issue by railing against NAFTA.

Obama who?
Sen. Obama is an enigma waiting to be unleashed on the world. His past is so far largely unknown and what has been reveled so far has been ..disturbing.

Sired by a moslem. Raised during his formative childhood by another moslem. Taught during his elementary school years in the strict moslem tradition. Choosing an anti-american, black moslem apologetic church in which to profess his christianity. He chooses to hide this while never proclaiming his loyalty to the United States. His wife has also made statements which would lead us to disbelieve her or his (do to his refusal to disavow her words) loyalty to our nation and way of life.

At a younger age I may have been swayed by Obama's promise of undefined change (maybe at 16 or 17). But today I am a bit wiser. I know that I am not the only liar in the world. I know that telling a falsehood to your enemy is a virtue in Islam. I know that leaving Islam is the worst sin that a Moslem can commit. I know that Osama was a Moslem. I know that change does not mean change for the better.

Barak Obama is a dangerous choice for president of the United States, Hillary Clinton is very liklely an unindicted felon and, John Macain sometimes votes with the other side. It seems therefor that Macain is the embodiment of the lessor evil.

I must vote. It is my duty as an American citizen. There is no best choice in this race but there is a choice. I will choose the least. I will choose Macain

The plain truth is...
Obama made those comments when he was surrounded by fellow travelers, so he got too comfortable and forgot to censor himself. The result: his true feelings came out, and many people recognize this is exactly what he believes (just like Shrillary, of course).

So now we see him in full damage control mode, and I have to admit he's slick...like a greased firepole.

"Slick Willy" is taken. Anybody know a synonym for "slippery" that goes well with "Obama?"

(I also posted this on another column)

An empty suit is an empty suit...
...and hope is not a method. The only change he can bring is to take the change from my pocket to pay for his socialist schemes.

Thanks for coming, Obama, the door is to your left :-)

Eurpopean Style Rhetoric
O’Vomit represents true European style socialism. I wonder how many on the socialist left of the U.S. truly understand how class conscience the Europeans are? There have been rigid class boundaries in Europe for centuries where the people are divided into 3 general classes, the Royalty, the Gentry, and the working class people. European style socialism wishes to throw out control of country by the Royalty and the Gentry and give it to a select few of them. In other words, communism is nothing more than transfer of power from people who provide the capital to another group of people who claim to provide the labor. In reality, like all revolutions, the people who wind up in charge are simply the “strong men who are ruthless enough to rise to the top. This is one of the many reasons why socialism and communism has never worked and will never work.

O’Vomit who has traveled the world over in growing up and is in love with European style socialism and class system. He is a George Soros style communist who the press anointed early in the campaign. He is a black articulate and that is his sole qualification as far as the press is concerned. As Hillary puts more pressure on him these kinds of tell-tale slips that show his true colors will pop out. Remember that in running in the Chicago district that he has in the past that he has never really had a tough campaign. It will be up to Hillary to give him one because McLame will do nothing but apologize for disturbing him with campaign rhetoric.

Obamagician
FOWG:
fear not my friend. Several weeks ago, as Hannity was in the midst of bringing the Wright thing to the surface of the masses' consciousness, he forshadowed "more to come about this and other issues in the coming weeks". He is delivering now with the Ayres thing. Obama is so full of lies and contradictions (there are 58 (!) major lies he has told, from the Selma thing to the law professor thing, etc etc) that Hannity can bring up one a week and still not hit them all by November...

One suggestion:
Insane Hussein? Doesn't rhyme Obama, but it IS his middle name...

Barry the Cherry? Hasn't seen a bill he wants yet...

Wherever we go, whatever we do...
Aren't we Americans sick and tired yet of politicians attempting to insult us by thinking we are incapable of taking care of ourselves by giving us handouts?

Aren't we Americans sick and tired of politicians dividing our nation by denigrating and pitting one sector of the population against another?

Aren't we Americans sick and tired of politicians who do nothing but further their own self-interests at the cost of ALL AMERICANS?

Aren't we Americans sick and tired of politicians dividing us by pointing to our differences all the time rather than those civil liberties that unite all of us?

Aren't we Americans sick and tired of politicians taking away freedom and choice instead of encouraging freedom and choice?

Aren't we Americans just sick and tired of politicians?

P.T. Barnum would be proud
A sucker born every minute. That's what Obama is counting on and it has worked well, thanks to the MSM.

"A people get the government they deserve" has never been truer. It's one thing to fall prey to totalitarianism, quite another to elect it. I fear that this great country is close to electing a sharlatan of the first order. Hillary is bad enough, but Obama takes the prize.

While it is quite entertaining on some level to see the two rip into each other, they way their apologists spin it and their followers cling to their positions is frightening.

People have asked for decades how someone like Hitler could ever get into power. They are seeing it now. When empty, emotional rhetoric is oohed and aahed over, the glib taken for depth, the emergence of the messiah persona who "will save us all," you know the end is near.

P.T. Barnum is chuckling.

Worldly experience
Imagine the idiocy and arrogence of Obama claiming not only that he has more "worldly" experience than McCain does, but that McCain hasn't enough worldly experience to be our president. What planet is this nutcase from, anyway, that he can flat out say he has more worldly experience than a long-time senetor who's been travelling the world meeting leaders of foreign nations and conducting the business of America a hell of a lot longer than Obama has? (As if Obama has conducted any business at all.) Besides, I wonder how quickly Obama would fold and chuck in the cards while being tortured by the Viet Cong in the Hanoi Hilton. My good guess is as soon as he's captured. Poofter.

Vic
I would agree with everything you said with this correction: If I'm not mistaken, most of the European socialist leaders are the gentry. They're the only ones rich enough to afford socialist taxes.

Obama's Arrogance
B.H. Obama is ignorant in his arrogance. I've seen his type many, many times before. He was the smartest person he knew when he was growing up. What he doesn't know is that he grew up around stupid people.

jnik
Your comments exemplify exactly what I said before.

Pass the Kool Aid.

Revealing Comments
Obama said, in trying to explain his comments, that he is not perfect and sometimes chooses the wrong words (this is also a slip since he might choose the wrong words when meeting with other world leaders). He was quick to chastise McCain for a slip up between Iraqi factions but we should forgive him.

VIC also nails an important point if you have read Michelle's Princeton thesis. Many times she uses the expression lower class when referring to blacks that have not had the advantages she enjoys. We have heard of her other comments about America which, in total, paints a fairly clear picture of her views on social issues.

"My experiences at Princeton have made me far more aware of my 'Blackness' than ever before," she wrote. "I sometimes feel like a visitor on campus, as if I don't really belong."

One solution, she continued, was to "utilise all of my present and future resources to benefit (the black) community first and foremost".

This must not apply to hispanics since she was on the board of a food company where she allegedly took part in a 2005 decision to close a pickle and relish plant in La Junta, Colorado, putting 150 mostly Hispanic labourers out of work devastating the community.

A Living Lie
Say it loud, say it long...say it over and over again...
Obama is a threat to our American way of life like no other national candidate in many many years, maybe ever. Obama is a charlatan we know nothing about who has mesmerized the mainstream media and thus a large portion of our nation through eloquent and articulate emptiness, vague and undeliverable promises of change and hope...WAKE UP, America, and have some strong coffee before it's too late.
He has cunningly tapped into a national dispair about our leaders, our economy, our foreign missions and our national agenda...he has turned us against ourselves, all the while painting himself as a messiah, the only one who can lift us up and solve all our problems....as blantant and empty as he has been, millions have been seduced by this dark side of politics, and we are in grave danger of electing a man who will dismantle our freedoms and our national strength and honor...he is an ultra liberal who will take your hard-earned money higher taxes that you have seen in years, to pay for what?...why, to pay for whatever he wants, if he wins....If he wins, he will likely have a bullet-proof Congress to support him....he WILL get whatever he wants, and the entire world, not only Americans, will pay a dear price...Stop the insanity!

wolfpat
Wow! I thought I was starting the new religion based on Obamnipresence.

wolfpat
In my post I did not say "where" the European socialists came from. Indeed, most do come from the gentry, just like in the U.S.. Poor and working people can not afford to be agitators unless subsidized by someone else with money. They are too busy just surviving.

The real point is that the socialist/communist only wishes to substitute their control of the overall economic system for other control. They are on a power trip.

Oh, Okay
I see what you're saying now. Maybe I need MY meds so I can keep up (pouring another cup of coffee)

Thanks
"Scooternyc
Take your meds and try to keep up with the current discussion"

Thanks for your christian attitude and kindness, it's so reflective of religious ideals these days being touted by both parties in the election.

Troublesome...
It is troublesome that so many became Obama's True Believers before checking his actual view on life and politics...explains how demogogues get away with their crimes for so long (and sometimes too late) before they wake up.

The problem is that the press has given him a free ride. They had one beif episode of questions after Sat Night Live ridiculed them and then went right back to their swoon.

I initially thought you had posted something irrelevant, but your clarification showed that I was the one not keeping up. I apologize.

The question I have that I have
not been able to answer is where O'Vomit got the money to go to college. Who is he indebted to?

"clarify"
Liberal code for: "You conservatives are not smart enough to figure out what we liberals are saying. Here, we'll dumb it down a bit more for you."

As Dr. Sowell sums up -
"Those of us old enough to have seen the type again and again over the years can no longer find them exciting. Instead, they are as tedious as they are dangerous."

Tedious and dangerous. Amen.

Now, Phylo
Get your feaking head out of the sand, man. Can you truly deny that Obama is not a liar, a racist just because he proposed hope and change that you could believe in? At what cost to you? Don't you get it? He does not care about unity or any of the other horseshitt he preaches. You are being duped.

Thank you Dr Sowell

I didn't not know the lineage of the dehumanization of the working class.

You nailed it succictly with "they are as tedious as they are dangerous. "

The age a person can ...
run for POTUS must be changed to a much older date. I like 65. If it is good enough for social security it is good enough for me. Consider if a person, at age 65, became president. At the end of the first term he would be 69 and even if he earned a second term his remaining time on Earth would be 5-10 years. That is enough time to give the ex-POTUS recognition but not such a long time that the ex-POTUS could become a pain in the collective *ss of America.

If BO becomes president he will be around for 30+ years. Think about what kind of damage a rouge ex-POTUS, like BO, could do to country.

Oblique O'Blame-ya
This guy fits the description to a "t"...on two counts in fact!

Barry is Nothing if not -

"Evasive; indirect; not straightforward; disingenuous"...

AND could also be defined as -

I didn't see Messiah anywhere in the definition so it works for me.

Sowell's Folly

"Like so much that Obama has said and done over the years, this is standard stuff on the far left, where guns and religion are regarded as signs of psychological dysfunction -- and where opinions different from those of the left are ascribed to emotions ("bitter" in this case), rather than to arguments that need to be answered."

So Obama, the guy who isn't divorced or calls his wife nasty things in front of the press, and has gone to church over 20 years, thinks religion is "dysfunctional"? And here is what "far left" Obama thinks about guns..

“And by the way, Michelle, my wife, she was traveling up, I think, in eastern Iowa, she was driving through this nice, beautiful area, going through all this farmland and hills and rivers and she said ‘Boy, it’s really pretty up here,’ but she said, ‘But you know, I can see why if I was living out here, I’d want a gun. Because, you know, 911 is going to take some time before somebody responds. You know what I mean? You know, it’s like five miles between every house.’

No,
jnik writes:

"You're right; We Americans ARE sick and tired of Republicans!"

I disagree. Americans are no more sick of Republicans that they are sick of Democrats.

What Americans are sick of are people like yourself who can do nothing but insult and antagonize the other side.

I am a liberal, but that does not close my eyes to the points and issues that conservatives raise.

We all have something to offer. We need to listen to each other without insulting the "other side." Only that way will an true, honest dialogue be opened, and it's only through true, honest dialogue that we will be able to create and implement sound policies that will strengthen and improve our nation.

Obamoids - no thought required
I call 'em Obamoids, those True Believers in the Word according to Obama. Void of thought, they will bask in his Words without examining what, if anything, Obama is actually saying. That's why Obama will get away with "clarifying" his recent statements. At least among the Obamoids.

What's Love Got to Do With It!
I greet you all and meet you with the love of my Savior, Jesus Christ . . .

It is humorous to me that while beating Mr. Obama down over his statement regarding the bitterness and frustration many folk in small town America feel as a result of the last 25 years, or more of slow or no economic progress, the vast majority of commentary is full of . . . bitterness and frustration!

It's obvious that there is in reality a low bar when considering a president. Brilliant intellect isn't required (no one would have argued Pres. Bush fit that). Even Pres. Regan (Aldous Huxley's predicted "Entertainer Candidate"), much beloved by the right wouldn't fit that mold either.

In the end, the "bitter" arguments are another delusion being used to convince hard working Americans to vote against their own best interests . . . Jobs at Home, Educational opportunity for our kids, Reasonably available Healthcare for all Americans, and an expedient end to our failed "Nation Building" experiment in Iraq.

Sowell's veiw of rednecks
7) What some portray as "authentic black culture" is actually a relic of a highly disfunctional white southern redneck culture.

Such a dysfunctional white culture Sowell maintains, in turn derived from the ‘Cracker culture’ of certain regions in Britain, mainly the harsh English borderlands, origin of many 'cracker' migrants. Sowell gives a number of examples that he regards as supporting the lineage, e.g.
an aversion to work, proneness to violence, neglect of education, sexual promiscuity, improvidence, drunkenness, lack of entrepreneurship,… and a style of religious oratory marked by strident rhetoric, unbridled emotions, and flamboyant imagery.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Sowell

Would Dr. King support him?
After all, Obama seems obsessed with skin color and cares not a whit about character.

Obama
This is a 70 plus white guy who voted Republican until 2004. I was for McCain in 2000 and disappointed in him when he sucked up to Bush in 2004. Following is my viewpoint:

Yup. Obama is all Preparation, no H.

Just Another O'Blame-ya O'pologist

"So Obama the guy who...has gone to church over 20 years, thinks religion is "dysfunctional"?

Keep in mind...this is the same church that Jerry Wright spews the teachings of Prof. Jim Cone -

"Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him."

"The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community. . . ."

"Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy."

"What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love."

Is it me or shouldn't the O'pologist actually have written -

So Obama...the guy who has gone to a "dysfunctional church" for over 20 years thinks religion is (insert insult here)"

Obama
This is a 70 plus white guy who voted Republican until 2004. I was for McCain in 2000 and disappointed in him when he sucked up to Bush in 2004. Following are some of my viewpoints:

In my not so humble opinion, the GWB led Republicans missed an opportunity to put this country on a sound fiscal path and correct any past sins/decisions of any party for the first six years they were in office and most likely would have retained control for two more if they had acted responsibly. They had control of the executive branch, the legislative branch and a sympathetic judicial branch . They could have corrected and passed almost anything that they wanted to but what they wanted to was to reward the K Street lobbyist for Big Pharma, the health insurance industry, Big Ag, the oil industry, etc. to name a few. Passing this awful Medicare D is an example of their clout. I believe that the bill even required Medicaid to stop negotiating pricing and lumped them in with Medicare to inflate the participation numbers raising the cost even more(If I’m wrong about this, my apologies). GWB did not veto one bill for the first six years he was the President.

Our state governments have to operate on a balanced budget and our federal government should do the same except for a brief time in a dire emergency. They can cut all the taxes they wish to as long as they make an offsetting cut in spending. Both parties have been irresponsible but I don’t believe any previous administration matches the recklessness of the current one.

I’ve often said that anything the government begins to subsidize, the price goes up. That applies to many things such as education, health care, oil subsidies, agriculture subsidies, etc.

Now to Obama, I don't see him as a threat. I find him more astute than elite. His words and even his preacher's word's taken in context do not frighten me. Those that spread fear frighten me more!!!

Clarifying the Very Clear
"In politics, the clearer a statement is, the more certain it is to be followed by a "clarification," when people react adversely to what was plainly said."

Well stated, Mr. Sowell. I'm tired of apologists for Obama telling us what he really meant or what his idols really said, especially when we heard it pretty clearly on our own.

THE POOR YE SHALL HAVE WITH YOU ALWAYS

That may not be an exact quote, but it's close to something Jesus is reported in the Bible to have said to someone apparently grousing about the "poor."

Another thing I've heard said is that if someone constantly criticizes another person or group of some defect in thinking, it is because he recognizes it in himself.

This could reasonably apply to Obama. He seems stubbornly to have clung to his religion, or, even worse, his religious "mentor" for comfort. He seems also to take a great deal of pride in setting himself apart from such persons as being beneath him.

As to his clinging to "antipathy," well, simply consider the source.

As to his clinging to "guns," well, I'll bet you he has at least one registered in his name.

As to his clinging to an antipathy toward people not like him, well, just look at him. He's full of it.

As to "bitter," well, I understand that the book he wrote, "The Audacity of Hope," was written about his black father, who left him when he was a year old, and said very little about the white woman who was his mother, or the white woman who was his grandmother, who as I understand it both raised him.

Now who's bitter?

And promises to the poor? How can he keep them? Then won't there be some bitterness.

Goodbye, B.O.

This should have been included prior to my closing paragraph:

However, it’s too late to get out of health care, and the only cure in my opinion is to let all Americans get the same care that our politicians get. You can decry “socialized medicine” but progressive European countries are spending less per capita than our mishmash of a system. If you wish to contest this, you will find anecdotal examples that can justify an opposing opinion, but for the most part, the Europeans seem satisfied with their coverage.

Sowell
Obama has a lot more respect for rednecks than Sowell. This is Sowell's description of white "crackers."

an aversion to work, proneness to violence, neglect of education, sexual promiscuity, improvidence, drunkenness, lack of entrepreneurship,… and a style of religious oratory marked by strident rhetoric, unbridled emotions, and flamboyant imagery.

But, hey, they aren't "bitter."

Another great article ....
I'll be sending it out to my friends.

Thank God his 'mask' is finally cracking and people are starting to get a good look at the 'real' Obama.

Many of us suspected that he was nothing more than an 'empty' suit ...with false promises and empty rhetoric. It turns out we were only partially correct. It's not the empty rhetoric or the lies and false hope he tries to sell a gullible electorate that are the most dangerous aspects of an Obama presidency. The most dangerous aspect is who he truly is.

There's no better way to predict future behavior than to look at ones past. The more that is revealed about Obama's past friends, his past voting record, his past business & political associates, and his past religious & philosophical mentors and teachers ...the more we know the 'real' Obama.

Ugh. Nasty little man. Why couldn't an honest person like Michael Steele be our first black presidential candidate instead of this festering problem that Obama really is.

As for our guns, the 2nd amendment guarantees we the people the right to own guns so that in the event the government gets completely insane, we the people can form militias to throw the bums out.

curious
I wonder if Sowell believes any of what he wrote here or just considers it a convincing attack piece. After all, that the National Journal is not an accurate indicator for presidential candidates who miss many votes while campaigning is well known. So only the ignorant and dishonest cite that as relevant. (I know lots of conservative columnists cite it, but unfortunately that is not evidence against the point).

Certainly Sowell knows that most Senate business is done in preparing legislation rather than in the votes themselves. In that regard Obama it is no secret that Obama has worked across the aisle. But I suppose Sowell might not care enough to have looked into whether his description is right.

It is not clear that the republican Illinois state senator featured in Obama's campaign ad is a radical, so it is hard to really make the case that Sowell tries to make that Obama has only associated with radicals. But then the point of Sowell's column does not really seem to be to say true things.

You said:"This isn't the last of controversial things Obama's going to say. Every week until the elections are over we will have a new drama, it seems he doesn't understand that you can't be frank and open."

Obama's problem isn't that he can't be 'frank and open'. Nothing is preventing him from that other than his knowing that in so doing, he will be universally rejected. Obama's problem is that when he is 'frank and open' , his true 'color' is abundantly clear ...and it doesn't make for an pretty picture!

Your attempt to portray Thomas's statement about a truly embarrassing segment of our society is also ridiculous. If Mr. Sowell had said that all low income people, all religious people, all people who value the 2nd amendment, all people who are concerned about the security of our borders, etc. ...are rednecks ....well then you just might have a valid point. Obama's statement basically said that all people who have values that conflict with his world view are simply too ignorant and unsophisticated enough to trust him. In doing so ...he revealed his contempt for these 'lesser' individuals and their most closely held beliefs.

As usual with liberals, you can't distinguish between an apple and an orange ...a truth or a lie as a consequence of your perverted world view.

Sowell is the liar
Sowell says that there is no evidence of Obama reaching across the aisle to produce bipartisan legislation.

Apparently Mr. Sowell is incapable of using the Google.

Otherwise he would've quickly come up with a couple of excellent examples of Obama's bi-partisanship.

Here's one: http://obama.senate.gov/press/070918-senate_passes_o_2/

That's a bill, authored by Obama and Chuck Hagel, that keeps nukes out of the hands of terrorists. What? I thought Obama was pro-terrorist!

And how about his landmark ethics legislation; the most significant since Watergate. Anybody else care about corruption in Washington?

And Sowell wants us all to believe that Obama is looking down on small town America. Please, someone explain to me what is wrong with saying that people seek solace in religion, and pass-times such as hunting, which Obama has praised, in writing, as a healthy, wholesome activity that binds generations together.

And Obama is a deeply religious man, so it makes absolutely no sense to say that he is denigrating people for being religious.

Barack Obama is a fundamentally decent human being. It's angering to watch the Republicans and the Clintons distort people's view of him.

Instead of listening to demagogues like Sowell, do a little research folks. Find Obama's three most outrageous quotes for me. The ones that you think disqualify him as a decent human being. I want actual quotes; not statements by other people; direct quotes from Barack Obama himself.

When you look at what you'll end up with, and compare that to Sowell's description of him, the disconnect will be too much for even the most thickheaded Republican to miss.

Advice for righties
When you're listening to your favorite rightwing gasbag on the radio today, try to notice how they will use their own words to describe what Obama "really means". They will read his words, and then slyly slip in their own words to make you think that that's what Obama was "basically saying".

It's a propaganda trick folks. It works like this.

John McCain, in a December Ney Yorker article, stated that people in small towns in Iowa are concerned about large numbers of immigrants moving into their towns.

Now, if Obama were as shameless as Thomas Sowell or Sean Hannity, he would be out there telling everyone that John McCain thinks small town Iowans are a bunch of bigots.

This is what right wing radion talk show hosts have been doing to Barack Obama. And you folks need to be aware of it. People like Sowell are trying to get you to ignore what Obama actually says because Sowell's agenda is to look out for the economic elite in this country. He doesn't want you to hear Obama's message. Go read What's The Matter With Kansas?

Unfortunately many people in this country do not know nor understand what living in a socialist/Marxist country is, which is exactly what Hussein Obama wants for this country. We, the richest nation, have birthed an uneducated segment of our population despite the horrendous amount of money poured into the educational system. We no longer teach American history in many of our schools, we don't pledge allegiance to our flag, we have allowed liberal educators to preach "anti-Americanism, without countering the other side of the issue; despite this nation being founded upon the Jewish/Christian religion, we are forced to accept Muslim teachings and understanding. Too many American's live on welfare and believe that government owes them a living. It is this group of people Obama wins over - they want more from the government that other people, who work, achieve, educate can share with them. We have been presented with three undesirable candidates - Hillary (along with hubby Bill) should probably face the courts for several very corrupt dealings, Obama is probably a Muslim, and McCain will push amnesty for over 20 million illegal immigrants that we as taxpayers are already supporting. Taxpayers in this country see over 338 Billion dollars a year go to illegals. What's next?

As one who lives in the SF Bay Area, Obama's attitude is nothing unique. I see and hear it all of the time. Those fly over states are to be forgotten since they are full of backwoods rednecks that are so uneducated you need not pay them any mind.

It is elitism coupled with ignorance and naivete. Dangerous combination!

I hope one day to be a part of those fly over states, since this state has become regressive and oppressive.

Obama is a lie and also lies
Read Robert Kesslers article about the real background of Rev Wright. Obama tried to explain Wright's sermons of hate away by referring to a past generation experiencing poverty and lack of opportunity. Wright himself was raised in a middleclass family with parents who achieved "firsts" as blacks and he himself went to privleged schools of mixed race. He did not experience discrimination.

Sooner or later he has to face the fact that Obama is the same old material wrapped in shiny new packaging.

The "PIN"
Despite the 'SPIN' of the lead-in, point to ONE instance where he said "American Flag" during the interview.

WATERLOO, Iowa — Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama says he doesn't wear an American flag lapel pin because it has become a SUBSTITUTE for "true patriotism" since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Asked about it in an interview with KCRG-TV in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the Illinois senator said he stopped wearing THE PIN shortly after the attacks and instead hoped to show his patriotism by explaining his ideas to citizens.

"The truth is that right after 9/11 I had a PIN," Obama said. "Shortly after 9/11, particularly because as we're talking about the Iraq war..."

"I decided I won't wear "THAT PIN" on my chest," he said in the interview.

On Thursday, HIS CAMPAIGN issued a statement:
"We all revere the flag, BUT..."

YEAH RIGHT...THAT IS NOT CONTROVERSIAL IN THE LEAST...just like his church isn't either.

Here's an idea.
Try to get Barry or for that matter ANY Lib to say three little words -

God Bless America

Without adding that 4th word -
"God Bless America BUT"

Glad Hillary Didn't Concede
I, for one, am quite elated that Hillary did not concede defeat and leave the candidacy to BHO. We would not know all this great stuff about him.
We owe a great debt of gratitude to Rush Limbaugh who encouraged Hillary to stay on and advised his listeners to vote Hillary(not McCain).

Barack....no disrespect intended, but...the jig is up! I liked your William Buckley/Yves Montand
vocal style for awhile. But you have proven yourself unworthy, elitist, bigoted, and empty. At the very least, our country needs a leader who loves its people and culture.

Amazing!
The statement, "That's a bill, authored by Obama and Chuck Hagel, that keeps nukes out of the hands of terrorists." is the most amazingly naive statement I have read lately. The author believes that a piece of paper, a bill, mind you, not even a law, "keeps nukes out of the hands of terrorists." Alas, this sort of non-thinking, this emotional and highly irrational refusal to deal with reality, is typical of the supporters, followers, apostles, whatever, of the dangerous Mr. Obama

I am from IL and Obama's backing of "live birth abortion" is barely known here. This typically proves the point that the MSM will cover for you if you are a liberal but will shine a spotlight on every small wart a Republican has. Where is the middle ground, where is the compromise possible with a man who supports something so barbaric?

Is Obama Bipolar?
Why does he constantly make statements that hurt him? He essentially called the people of my state a bunch of gun totin' redneck bigots. And he wants to win here?

Yes, I realize the next day he tried pathetically to spin his previous statment as "clumsy". Sorry but that one no longer flies. When you run for president you can't afford to constantly stick your foot in your mouth. He essentially said that his observations were not meant to be offensive....come on. We cling to our guns and religion out of bitterness? We are anti-immigrant? These statements are not meant to be offensive?

Let me tell you all what happened here: Obama was speaking to an audience in a city that holds most of rural America in contempt. SanFran is filled with folks who think people from states like PA are backwoods, shotgun shootin' bible totin' morons. In typical politician mode, Obama decided to reinforce the negative stereotypes held by his San Fran audience. THIS is the guy who is going to erase divisions and bring unity to the country? A guy who constantly draws lines of demarcation between various groups...black and white...rich and poor....urban and rural. The guy is a nightmare and his statements make it clear that he is not the right choice to lead this country.

Obviously, as you are unable to follow along without guidance. Elitist/socialist rail against capitalism while profiting themselves all the way to the bank. At the same time they put down others for doing the same thing. It's all well and good for them to thrive and live in million dollar mansions in their ivory towers, all the while decrying "greed." Nice catch on the nukes. I'll add another point. I wonder how Obama voted on the elimination of earmarks. An ethics bill is usually just a "feel good" measure that is designed to fool voters yet accomplish nothing. Elimination of "ear marks" is a REAL chance to do something about ETHICS.

It wasn’t until Barack Obama wrote two best-selling books that he and his wife paid their student loan debt... Somehow the Obamas could afford a $1.65 million home BEFORE the books...hmmmm..oh yeh, Rezko helped with that!

Remember when Mrs. Obama said that it was only when her husband had a comfortable lead in the Primary that she became "proud of this country" "For the first time in [her] adult life"?

And now people in small-town America are racist, fanatically religious gun nuts.

Incidentally, how many people cling to religion out of bitterness? Seriously. I'm sure there are some, but most people who are "bitter" tend to slide away from religion. Yes, people who are in trouble often "find religion" and many of those cling to it. But it's almost never because of bitterness. Bitterness takes a religious person and makes them hate God because God isn't helping them (or so they perceive.)

Lilly was wrong. Here in PA, we call everything between Philly and Pittsburgh “Pennsyltuckty”. Of course, we don’t allow nonresidents to use that term.

Fawning Over Faults
Sir Francis Bacon said in his essay on love: "Man cannot be in love and wise at the same time." Some people literally love their candidate, it is the only way to explain their complete lack of objective rationality. When the candidate makes an error so egregious that even the biased (to the Left) MSM notices and reports on it, something must be said to sooth and provide a vine of rescue to his supporters. Those that love Obama need some reason to believe their candidate did not mean what he said, need words they can use to convince others and themselves all is well. Hence, Obama provides the endless clarifications. Historically independent men are oft forced out of character by love. So are the American people when their candidate is flawed but exciting.

Yes Joe and Vic
Obama has hundreds of "bundlers" at least 5 of them are billionaires. Hows that for support from the grass roots common man? As always so as I say not as I do...
