Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Why has McCain won the Republican nomination and why will he win the election in November? One word—Trust! I didn’t predict it. I didn’t even vote for him in our primary, but I’m coming to appreciate what I think a lot of Americans understood about this rock-solid patriot and public servant. At a time of economic and geo-political uncertainty, we want a leader we can trust. Even if you don’t always agree with John McCain, you can trust the man to do what he says!

An encore of the Clinton Years is a trust nightmare most Americans do not want. Hillary earned her negative trust numbers the old fashioned way by disappointing us over and over again. From her faulty memory on dodging sniper bullets in Bosnia and producing peace in Ireland to the past sudden appearance of Rose Law firm billing records, her actions have never engendered trust.

Barack Obama may be eloquent to some, but his trust account is already overdrawn. He promises to be a uniter, but where’s the evidence of ever producing on that promise. In the absence of a proven track-record, people look for ways to assess his judgment. His close associations with the controversial Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the political rainmaker Tony Rezko, and Weather Underground leader William Ayers encourage more questions than trust. His campaign’s continuing and consistent mischaracterization of McCain’s “100 years in Iraq” comment do not match his promise to be a different kind of politician.

I have often disagreed strongly with John McCain. But as upsetting as John McCain can sometimes be to conservatives, his ability to take an unpopular stand and confront his own party is one of the things many respect the most. This man, who withstood years of captivity in a POW camp, is not afraid of a little criticism—giving it or receiving it. There’s no better sign of character than the ability to honestly confront one’s own party when you think it’s wrong. Whether it’s harping on Rumsfeld and calling for more troops on the ground, pushing for immigration reform or wielding the power of his gang of 14 in securing judicial appointments, this man can make waves.

In a recent talk in Pittsburgh, McCain provided some economic straight talk: “In so many ways we need to make a clean break from the worst excesses of both parties. For Republicans, it starts with reclaiming our good name—our good name as the party of spending restraint.” He promised a “top-to-bottom” review of federal spending and promised to veto any bill that earmarks money to pet projects of members of Congress. “That kind of careless spending of tax dollars is not change, my friends. It is business as usual in Washington, and it’s all a part of the wasteful and corrupt system that we need to end.”

Beltway Republican leaders earned their mid-term election loses by not walking their principles. McCain doesn’t walk softly and carry a big stick. He’ll talk straight, loud and often. You can bet he will be using that big “veto” stick on a few Washington Senators and Congressmen who try spending as usual, no matter which party they are with. When McCain talks about putting the breaks on government spending and ending the abuse of earmarks, you can trust he means it.

Because we trust his word, we are more likely to honor his promises to change. He may not have voted for the Bush tax cuts, but he has voted to sustain them and promises to work to extend them if elected. When McCain got the message that his immigration plan was not what Americans wanted, he admitted that Americans don’t trust Washington. Now, he has repeatedly promised that securing the border wall comes first. McCain has shown that he takes his promises and his duty seriously!

Finally, at a time that Americans seem to want a president who can work across the aisle, McCain is the man they can trust. Obama talks about uniting America in every speech, but John McCain has the proven track record. McCain’s endorsement by Joe Lieberman speaks to the power of building bridges across the political divide. You don’t build relationships by bending your principles. You build them by finding common ground where even “enemies” can agree to make a difference together.

Demonizing Democrats or Bush will not win this election. McCain has taken a strong stand against partisan attacks. He realizes that America thrives in a workable tension between alternative approaches to governing America. McCain focuses on what he is for and reaches out to any independent or Democrat willing to join his cause to keep America strong.

While the Democrats are selling that all the answers come from Washington, John McCain seems to be taking a lesson from Ronald Reagan. At the 1992 Republican Convention, President Reagan shared the “secret” to his success: “I appealed to your best hopes, not your worst fears, to your confidence, rather than your doubts.” Many Democrats and independents trusted Reagan because he trusted the American people.

Speaking to an audience in Texas John McCain launched his fight to win this election once his nomination was secure: “We are the captains of our fate. We're not a country that prefers nostalgia to optimism; a country that would rather go back than forward. We're the world's leader, and leaders don't pine for the past and dread the future. We make the future better than the past. We don't hide from history. We make history. That, my friends, is the essence of hope in America, hope built on courage, and faith in the values and principles that have made us great. I intend to make my stand on those principles and chart a course for our future greatness, and trust in the judgment of the people I have served all my life. So stand up with me, my friends, stand up and fight for America -- for her strength, her ideals, and her future.”

In a long and demanding campaign, authenticity and trust will beat eloquence and empty promises every time. In this great game of politics 2008, McCain has the wild card that will give him the winning hand—Trust!

It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes

Proverbs 25:19 -
Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.

The thing all America loves most about John McCain is how we have come to KNOW he cannot be trusted with anything he says.

Now fools can go ahead and believe in anything they so desire, and can actually think they can place their trust in this proven liar, who plays politics with every issue he has ever learned from the profession thieves and liars that own Washington DC today.

Yes, we all love Senator McCain for his own choice to be a "Maverick"

mav·er·ick (mav'?r-ik, mav'rik) pronunciation
n.

1. An unbranded range animal, especially a calf that has become separated from its mother, traditionally considered the property of the first person who brands it.
2. One that refuses to abide by the dictates of or resists adherence to a group; a dissenter.

PERFECT!
Now, here is the way it is.
Senator McCain has claimed fro himself the role, the ground he stands on as a maverick.
I had nothing to do with any of it.
So, seeing he has made his choice to be a maverick, I simply accept that as his right to be one.
The choice I have is to never trust this man, not with anything I value.
And trust him with America?

A Vote For McCain Is A Vote For Amnesty

John McCain has not changed his mind about "Comprehensive Immigration Reform", amnesty, at all.

http://townhall.com/columnists/AmandaCarpenter/2008/03/28/b loggers_press_mccain_adviser_on_immigration
“John McCain’s position on immigration is very clear and this a question that gets asked at townhall appearances everyday in media appearances and has answered the question at least a thousand times before the New Hampshire primary,” Schmidt said.

He explained, “Any person who supports John McCain’s campaigns is a subscriber to John McCain’s views"

A vote for McCain is a vote for surrender of your country.

Your vote for McCain will be used as proof that you want amnesty.

Many of us see another amnesty as the end of the Republic, the stampede it will set off will be overwhelming. If we don't stop the inundation none of the rest matters. We'll be a banana republic before the jihadis can get us. There will never be another GOP president or Congressional majority. Importing voters for the socialists is as stupid as it gets.

McCain keeps saying "Secure the border first". We know that he means amnesty next. The plan is to get the border state Gov's to declare the border secure. Conveniently, they are all on board the cheap labor express. Then his good friend Ted Kennedy will bring back McCain/Kennedy and McCain can provide his good friends across the aisle with their new permanent majority.

I will not vote for amnesty.

Fear Is McCain's Only Hope
It might work.

But not on me.

We're not electing a partner
If the coming presidential election were for a new partner to run the oval office, who's to vote at all? America elects its leaders.

Bush at least led, while the country instead preferred to follow the mainstream mediia, by believing the quagmire propaganda fed it by the opposition party. Leaders play to win. Not to please the cable networks, or panderers in Congress.

Since McCain is an old hand in our legislative branch, he's more than aware of the way they can hamstring a leader. He watched as Tip O'Neill fought for the Democrats against Reagan. Then how villainous Reid and Pelosi and their minions have goosed Bush. He can identify the demagogues personally. Two of them are now engaged in their campaign to oppose him right now.

Old guys like McCain have seen it all. Experience like his will foil the news media and fix the Senate's Democrat-controlled gridlock. He'll VTO them into submission; that means LEAD! We have to trust him; it's just imperative. Obama is no leader. His pals in the Congress already have a neat brass ring in his nose to pull him around with. Why else have most of the old fat cats endorsed the rookie?

Yes, McCain can be trusted, by Democrats
Mr. Paulson must be a Democrat if he thinks that McCain's best feature is trust. Most Republicans don't trust McCain, especially if they see him talking to a Democrat.

Conservatives don't trust him to do most of what he says. He says he will close the border, but he still wants AMNESTY (he calls it a comprehensive solution for illegals) for untold millions of illegals.

McCain pledge to tighten the border is campaign rhetoric, a hustle to cover up his real intentions. If elected, his McCain/Kennedy bill will be renewed and that will be the end of the Republican Party.

Yes, you can "trust" John McCain, trust him to turn on Republicans once he is President.

Bwaaahhhhhhh
That is laughable - if McCain has a strong suit, trust certianly isn't it.

dear virginia petunia
Amnesty ? YOUR vote ? You came to your senses, then ? Lol!

I think with our new Leader in the White House, a hard look at illegal immigration is coming; and a form of conditional amnesty can be worked out. If over 12 million new citizens make up the necessary compromise, with strict laws set in place to govern the employers; the case will finally be closed. They'll be usefully employed citizens and taxpayers.

A vote for amnesty means progress; as long as new methods of patrolling and strengthening the borders is developed. We do it under a Republican President or we don't do it at all; don't you agree ?

Your knee-jerk objections to amnesty of some kind are just unrealistic. Nobody blames you for being hard-boiled against illegal immigrants. But nothing is accomplished by blaming one man. You can still play at the table with grown-ups, Virginia; but only with the cards you're dealt. Bring your brains to the game; and don't waste your chips verbally abusing our DEALER, John McCain !

Dear Fred:
Dear Fred from California,

The border isn't "closed" even one minute. It has many ENTRY GATES, Fred. Lots of illegal immigrants enter the U.S. right past our immigration officials at the gates. Some do it with phony IDs or green cards. Others are smuggled past our officials in vehicles with U. S. plates. That happens often. Not all climb over that fence.

The violators of our immigration law are sometimes very fine people; they just happen to be poor. Maybe you didn't know, or care.

If more of our own citizens somehow could be just as honorable in their conduct as an illegal immigrant usually is; we wouldn't have rampant drug abuse, babies abandoned in dumpsters, shoot-em-ups at the city mall, thugs beating up old ladies in broad daylight, and other disgusting things.

Illegals bring good manners with them to this country. They work very hard; they pay for everything over the counter, or they go without.

Don't believe the common hate speech heard about these people. Think for yourself ! Things are not always as the dividers tell us.

Lastly; something few of us ever realize: Of the Mexican illegal immigrants seen in our country these days, a good half of them return to their own country in a few years. They're HOMESICK living here too long. Because just like you; they're human beings. Not dogs, like some otherwise fine Americans think. Up above a wise guy is quoting Scripture for us. I can do it too. What did God command the Israelites, in the OT ?

Leviticus, 19:34

"You shall love the alien as yourself; remember that you were aliens in the land of Egypt." He even made it a rule to feed an alien; set apart a bite or two in case one of these destitute people showed up at the door. GOD commanded it. You can see it in the Bible. Hatred of illegal aliens is a sin.

Mc Cain
I am with Virginia Patriot.
I do not see Mc Cain as a leader but a panderer.
The media selected the presumed Republican candidate for president.
I do not support amnesty for illegal aliens who broke our country's immigration laws. I do not understand why it is alright for these people to defy our laws and be rewarded with citizenship. I came here legally and waited for my turn to be a naturalized citizen.I love this country. What I am seeing and hearing is a lot of walking away from what is right and correct moral values.
McCain is a war hero but does not represent my
values as a citizen of this country. And "dreadnaught", I agree, Mc Cain is your DEALER.

Evie
Thank you for becoming an American the right way. I honor all who do.

Trust?????????
Hahahahahahahahahahaha

TRUST & McCAIN
The only things McCain can be trusted to do are continue the GWOT and go after his fellows as he goes across to the Dem side. ["By their deeds Ye shall know them."] Otherwise, his deeds have all been to the left for 8+ years. Oh, I get it now. lol OK, sure, thanks for the headsup Mr. Paulson.

Worry not, dreadnaught

For every insult merchant (such as talent scout and Gander), and for every well-intentioned "immigration-only" poster (such as Virginia Patriot, Fred and Evie) there are many, many more American voters who will be more comfortable with McCain than they will with any of the other choices.

Sen. McCain was not in my top five among the Republican hopefuls from a policy standpoint, but he certainly is the one candidate with the best shot of defeating Obama in November.

And, talent scout, to quote you from the Tancredo thread:

"I thank [Sen. McCain] for standing up to people like you, who have nothing to offer but some personal attack on a better man than you will ever be."

Do I have any basis for this kind of insulting statement? None whatsoever. But I figure if you can dish it out, you can take it as well.

dreadnaught the moron &
Is a confused imbecile
Under the Law, we are all Equals.
The Law is blind to any mans sweet hearted love for his fellow man, when the Law is used for JUSTICE.
What defines every man under the Law, is if he OBEYS THE LAW.

To come to this country illegally makes you a CRIMINAL.
This fact is the bases of the Court System.
If some are allowed to break the Law, and get by with it, then we no longer have EQUAL PROTECTION OF THE LAW.

We are left with ANARCHY.
And this moron dreadnaught supports ANARCHY.
Simply because he has no respect for the Law, and makes him an abettor of CRIME.
Just coming here illegally is just the FIRST CRIME.
By coming here unlawfully, this insures all traffic, all identity, all hiring and all FRAUD LAWS ARE BROKEN AS WELL.

But this moron dreadnaught does not care what laws get broken cause he simply support a CRIME WAVE OF CRIMINALS COMING HERE.

Which is actually an INVASION by Citizens of a FOREIGN GOVERNMENT.
That are doing nothing any differnt than if it was the Mexican Army coming across and changing our laws themselves.
You idiot dreadnaught

Dear Dreadnaught
I've never read such self-righteous, never-never-land, pap as in your postings. Wake up from your utopian dream world. We are a land of laws, not feel good emotions. If you want to invite the world to our shores with open borders, say so. Don't try to impress readers with your feel good, am I not wonderful, tolerant and understanding postings.

That, of course, doesn't mean you're not a nice person. ;-}

To Virginia...patriot?
Virginia Patriot:
I'm glad you won't be voting for amnesty and in stead will vote for redistribution of incomes, doubling of the capital gains taxes, an increase of the personal income taxes, a huge increase in entitlements that don't do anything to help impoverished people but DOES make them hate whites (ie. most of the taxpayers) more, not a porous but wide open border, and a great "whooshing" sound as companies, and hence employers, flee the oppressive tax sytem of the U.S. Oh, did I mention the megalithic inefficiency and rationing that you'll vote for (my not voiting McCain, or voting for the other clowns) that will accompany socialized health care?

Yes we can trust him
We can trust him in violating the spirit of the Constitution by intefering with the right of the President to nominate judges, by the violation of the 1st Amendment on freedoms on campaign finances, on doing back-room deals with those who seek to destroy our country for amnesty for illegals, and especially on calling us "friends" as he pompously espouses his ego in his preaching to us.

Yes, the trust we give him on these things will be solid.

McCain debates torture on O’Reilly

Try me
I am taking the gloves off when talking to you idiots like you and dreadnaught.
I will give you back in spades what you send my way and step on your puny heads like I would a pissant.
This country is in the most danger it has ever been in my life time, and I am a Vietnam Era, Cuban Missile Crisis Veteran.

No longer will I be quiet and take the bs you idiots promote as you sell this country down the drain to a foreign government.
You are my enemy, as much as OBL is who also wants this country destroyed, just in a different method.

So, lets get it on moron.

Hawk
If the GOP had wanted my vote, they would have nominated someone I could vote for. Not my fault the RNC had to have an amnesty candidate. Vote for one of the Democrats running if you choose, the one in the R jersey is still a liberal.

Sorry
My gag reflex was too sensitive to even finish this column. Trust, my a$$.

Same Old Tired Whining!
You may not vote for amnesty, but you'll damn well get it with oblama or hillary. At least McCain has promised to secure the border and that's a great deal more than you can even hope for from the alternatives.

Yeah right, Rambo

talent scout: you can take anything I got, but you react like a stuck pig when I return to you the exact same cr*p you offered me last night.

A veteran, huh? I admire your service to our nation. But my guess is that your discharge was for emotional causes.

Mc Cain
September12Republican,
I am not anti immigration, I am for legal immigration and respecting the laws of this country. One cannot start doing wrong and think
will do right. Nobody mentioned voting for the other two candidates. We are well aware of where they are concerning our country. Obama is into the "anti poverty Act", to redistribute our tax dollars around the world, which I think is so outrageously elitist and idiotic and socialist. I cannot imagine myself voting for him.
I'll probably vote for "Yosemite Sam".

Evie

Thanks for your tempered response. Please know that I share your dismay on the illegal immigration problem, and I wish that Sen. McCain had a better record on the subject. But, to circle back to the topic of this article, I ultimately trust him to get it right.

Am I naive? Perhaps. But so far he's struck me ultmately to be a man of his word. His present word is that he's learned from his earlier amnesty debacle.

September
is my favorite month.

I say on here over and over, I would not have made McCain my first choice, but I supported him in 2000 over Bush.

He is among the three remainning contenders of the moment the most experienced, capable, conservative, fiscally sound, forward looking, and believable.

McCain will not bring military humiliation in the Middle East (which would be the fall of Saigon all over and the start of another Carter economy), will not cave to tyrants and despots, will love America and not find it just an object of criticism and distain, will actually lead a way to deal with immigration (for which he will get Hispanic votes and Reps. will need them), and will be elected by the vast middle of America and not the extremes of either party, a great God-send in itself.
The cons. here sucking their thumbs and taking their marbles home to avoid voting for McCain will find themselves wandering in the wilderness and lacking in impact and influence if they cannot see that McCain is their candidate and they have to make the best of it.
Whining and McLaming and all the other rot doesn't do anything but allow losers to vent. No Ron Paul, no Duncan Hunter, no George Huckabee, no Bob Barr is ever going to get a major party nomination and carry a national pres. election.
Reagan was so successful because he appealed to a WIDE audience, not a narrow one. McCain attracts independents, who make up 40% of the electorate now, Reagan-Dems.--the ones who elected Reagan all those years ago--and moderates, which is what the average person considers himself.
You can see that from the reaction to Obama's castigation of workers in PA as poor and bitter. They didn't see themselves that way. They saw themselves as regular guys just trying to get along. They defeated Obama in PA this spring. They'll defeat Obama in November.

September12Republican
We do have three presidential hopefulls who do not seem to represent our dearest hope and vision for this country, the USA. Mc Cain has always been in bed with the Democrats. I am not against working with the Dems but championing their causes is beyond me. He was my choice eight years ago, from 10 he has gone to 0.
We have 6 months before the general election,
I hope that Mc Cain will prove that he can be trusted.
One thing though, he is for our military, except that he sounds convoluted about the "geneva convention". So where do we go?

TRUST IS NOT ENOUGH
Rhetoric is meaningless at this point. All
Sen. McCain has is his record, since the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior.
Has he shown competence, leadership, a studied understanding of critical issues? After yesterday's speech on AGW one might wonder.

trust
RITFLMAO still

Bravo, renny from joisey
You cracked it outta the park, renny. But remember;

None of these dudes ever governed a nation of blue & red states, or carried out a war on terror or defeated any Democrats. They just talk a good game. Half this group won't even watch any debates or register to vote. It's the OLD story.

"Trusted" by Whom?
I think he will deliver for Ted Kennedy & company.

McCain is a Democrat
John McCain darted to the right briefly after Mitt Romney dropped out to the presidential primaries. For the span of a heart beat, he appealed to the Republican Party's conservative base.

It is apparent, that when it looked like conservatives would vote for him in lieu of an Obama win by default, he promptly put his Democrat hat back on and never looked back. So be it John, you just signed your electoral epitaph.

Trust? Give me a break!
Mr. Paulson,
No sale on this latest Townhall RINOgram. You are Mr. Wirs (along with other weak willed RINO columnists) continue to sound the horn for McCain, but conservatives are refusing to get run over by the Straight Talk Express. WHEN are you going to listen to the people that McCain needs to win the election? WHEN are you going to pay attention to the fact that McCain cannot be trusted?

WHY? Well, for starters, the man has shoved it in the eye (nice way of saying it) of conservatives for the past 8 years (and while not as badly, has done so for years before as well.) His overall ACU rating is pathetic.
The man caved to the global warming hoax in his Oregon speech yesterday (higher taxes? so what if I said I was against them...I will just rename it "cap and trade!") is busy pandering to the La Raza crowd (amnesty anyone, forget what I first said about the border needing to be secured, I will be a maverick and flip-flop yet again since I am desperate for the Latino vote), and is pretty much sounding like Obama or Hillary on MOST issues. His past record of McCain-Feingold, Gang of 14, etc, ad nauseaum do not need to be repeated here. They are EXACTLY the reason McCain is NOT to be trusted.

Don't expect the sheeple to follow blindly on this one this time (except for those who are cowed by the "lesser of two evils" fearmongering and those Dems who are frightened of one of their own (Obama) in the White House.
This voter will be a maverick and NOT vote for McCain. The RNC needs to wake up and smell the coffee before it is too late (but I fear they will burn themselves first.)

Terry, Terry, Terry
Trust! Are you kidding me? Where have you been for the past eight years?

Using John McCain and the word trust in the same sentence is an oxymoron. John McCain is the last choice of conservatives precisely because he cannot be trusted to advance conservative values.

Trust, come on Terry, try to keep up. Jeez!

Experience, Trust, Honor, Service & Love
McCain's decisions may be disappointing to SOME americans but when it comes to picking a president.....exprience, trust, honor, and service, and love of country is important. Obama lacks any of these critical factors that make an effective american president. God Bless America!

Its really a shame that
people can't see that the real danger is BO. I have been disappointed with J Mac at times. But no serious person can sit on the sidelines with BO about the take the Dem nomination. BO is the most dangerous nominee that has ever made it this far in the process.

Mr. Terry Paulson
McCain was handpicked by the media for the Republicans. Many Republicans did not vote for him. Please stop shoving McCain under our noses.
I would rather have Duncan Hunter, but that is wishful thinking now.
I am not buying the McCain perfume that you are selling. It stinks.

Evie
McCain isn't going anywhere. He's going to be the Republican nominee whether you like him or not. Are you willing to see BO as POTUS? I see some people saying that they aren't going to vote and others saying they are voting third party. What a way to waste a vote. But this is America and everyone has an individual right to vote their conscience. So you should do what your heart tells you to do.

Staying Home
I wrote personal political commentary for a few websites from roughly 2002 to 2007. For what its worth, it was "free advice," as I posted on websites that did not compensate its writers, rather offered a forum for pundit wannabes, to get their work published.

One of the themes that was frequent in my work, was the absolute necessity for those who can, to exercise their right and privilege to vote. I waxed emphatic with regard to the consequences of "throwing away your vote," should you choose to sit out election day.

I will ignore my former pleas to those of the apathetic electorate to not cast a "no show" vote. I will be staying home this year as well. John McCain has convinced me by his actions, words and the liberal views, that to vote for him, is worse than wasting my vote.

You can't "trust" a man that would double cross his base in a manner as equally despicable as spitting in their face.

Dan
Are you saying the you are willing to allow BO to become POTUS? Just remember that the next president is going to choose two Supreme Court Justices. Do you want the Dems to appoint two liberals to the court?

Obama will be worse
By not voting, it is a given that my "no show" will be a proxy vote for Barack Obama. At some point however, principle has to trump expediency and that time is now.

It will get worse before it gets better but when that time comes, the blind followers will think more clearly as to the meaning of what it means to vote and the responsibility that goes with that vote.

Robert
Say goodnight! Please.

Dan
Don't take Robert's bait. He doesn't want to talk to you. He wants you to respond so that he can attack you, that's what he does.

As for your remark, I think that after you get a load of what BO wants to do to this country, you'll understand that he's dangerous to our values. I don't think that America is as left as he wants to take us.

Mr. Coupe
Understood, but the responsibility is on John McCain. At some point, those who seek our vote, our respect and our support need to understand that the lesser of two evils is no longer a ballot choice.

The person we choose to be the leader of the free world needs to demonstrate character and leadership unaffected by polls and media perception. That is the criteria, the rest is up to Sen. McCain.

Desperately seeking conflict
Debate is a discussion of the merits of an argument and the presentation of both the values and consequences of the respective positions. It is not a forum to respond to obvious juvenile taunts.

Well it's time for
Mr Coupe to pull the plug the Mac Book is starting to smoke. Good night all, and God bless. Remember play nice, and make peace, where peace is possible.

trust?
The guy must be smoking some good weed.

"I would rather have a clean government than one where quote First Amendment rights are being respected, that has become corrupt. If I had my choice, I'd rather have the clean government."

-- John McCain (interview, Don Imus Show, defending McCain-Feingold)

How's that sound?

Juan will NEVER close the border. He's for the NAU. Did y'all really LOVE getting sucker punched by Bush. If you thought that was good wait till we get McCain.

"A republic if you can keep it" B. Franklin

Let's see if we make it past 2010.

Robert
Since you won't say good night, I will. Good night Robert, where ever you are.

I TRUST
that mclame will RUIN this country. And the republican party.

Trust Him?
John McCain can trust me...not to vote for him.

Who would trust a maverick? That means he goes his own way. He earned that title. How does he campaign in Arizona --- "We'll my friends, I'm promising this that and the other thing but I'll do what I want to do, anyway."

I don't trust him to keep me safe. I don't trust him on illegal immigration. I don't trust him to appoint good judges and I definitely don't trust him not to raise my taxes.

We've got three loser Senators still in the race who can't get the job done in the Senate and the Democrat and Republican Machines, with their 22% approval rating in Congress, want us to promote one of them. Get real!

TRUST MCCAIN???
You're a little late with this column. This has got to be an April Fools joke. If you trust McCain I have a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to give you a real good deal on.

Mel asks
"trusted by whom?" How about the guys who know him best, the ones who shared his fate in the Hanoi Hilton?

These guys trust John Mccain implicitly and support him unreservedly for a very good reason, they trusted him then as a comrade in arms who stood up to everything thrown at them and he, who could have left early, stayed and kept faith with them.

I defy anyone who denigrates JSM as untrustworthy to stand up and say they would have done what he did under those circumstances, he even amazed some of his fellow prisoners who thought he should have gone home given his injuries when he had the chance, they never thought he'd make it out alive. That's guts and that's what we need in the WH, not this mealy-mouthed snake-oil salesman who is an known commodity and who has already stated he'd surrender in Iraq.

Leadership is listening to advisors, getting the best intel and then acting upon it. Mccain listened to US on amnesty and evolved,he will again listen to the will of the people and act in this countries best interest and his record supports that across the board.

I Trust Him

I trust him to desert conservatism at every turn.

I trust him to raise taxes and grow government.

I trust him to be a lying arrogant senile geriatric.

Bob Barr

Bob Barr...Bob Barr...Bob Barr...

Terry said:
'Because we trust his word, we are more likely to honor his promises to change.'

Who is the we in this sentence?

I would come closer to trusting BO because he will follow his Marxist mind. But trusting McCain? The man is a politician. Need I say more?

Seawolf
McCain has not changed his mind on amnesty. What he is saying now is "Secure the border first".. He's got Juan Hernandez and his "Mexico First" agenda on his campaign. Amnesty is next after he says the border is secure. Believe it if you wish, but he has no intention of enforcing the law and that is the only way we get control of our country again.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
So much comedic value in just the TITLE!!

Have you missed your calling as a comedy writer?

Unbelievable.

I pray that you are right
I am a mess worrying about this election. If we get the big O or the big H we will remain energy dependent (no drilling), our taxes will leave no disposable income, our military will be weakened (the 90's), and our American culture
will be unrecongnizable. I pray that John McCain will do as he says and take us back to lower taxes, restrained spending, smaller government, and a strong military. I pray and I pray again.

Someone we can REALLY trust...
How about THIS guy?

TRUST MCCAIN???

.....The Democrats can trust him to sign Kyoto and to advance their agenda of CAP & TRADE AND AMNESTY ...McCain will destroy the GOP and pave the way for SOCIALISM and DEMOCRAT RULE ...

.....I have reached the point where I cannot vote for
McCain ...I think he is dangerous and needs to be
stopped ...if not at the Convention then by a third
Party candidate like Bob Barr ...the deal breaker for
me was McCain signing on to AGW and supporting Cap &
Trade ...I would rather vote for Hillary than McCain
...

.....If Barr can be a spoiler like Perot and stop
McCain then we can hope that we can get enough
Conservatives into Congress to restrain Obama for four
years .....COLOSSUS

MCCAIN MUST BE STOPPED

.....Vote for Bob Barr, the Libertarian candidate ...

.....If Barr can garner enough votes to stop McCain ...we can tolerate a Democrat in the White House for four years if we can retain filibuster power in the Senate ...

.....The GOP is badly in need of a good enema to flush out all the RINOS and to save the Party for a Conservative sweep in 2012 ...

.....Vote for Barr to save the GOP ... http://WWW.BOBBARR2008.COM .....COLOSSUS

Choice
McCain, Clinton and Obama are to choice, as the electric chair, lethal injection, and hanging are to longevity.

Trust McCain??
McCain is what he is and his divergence from Hillary or Obama is not significant enough to matter, in any historical perspective.

Americans are going to get the government they deserve until a sufficient number of people say enough; that may only happen when it is to late to resolve the situation in a peacefull, Constitutional manner. As always it is up to the individual to figure out a way to survive the coming political disaster. At some point enough citizens will decide it is time for a serious, terminal septic flush in the Washinton D.C. locale; or not. If not, this country will continue to follow the example of Socialist/Leftist ruination in Europe and the inevitable downward spiral of the EU nations political example.

The Declaration of Independence sanctions whatever means is neccessary to preserve this Nation as a Constitutional Republic. As far as our forefaters were concerned "government" by it's very nature, must have the crap washed out of it( visualize a dirty diaper ) as soon as it starts to smell. By that standard we are way overdue for a washday. At the rate we Americans are refusing to face our imminent political issues, the "George Washington Protocol" may be our only hope for continuing freedom in America.

Most of you refuse to consider this reality and that is precisely why, it doesn't matter who is elected in November. America has far more basic issue, that begs resolution, than which crook is directing the rest of the crooks in Washington. The U.S. must first wash out the crap in government; until then who is elected doesn't matter much.

Re: Trusting John McCain
Dear Dr. Paulson:

In your column yesterday you wrote: "Even if you don’t always agree with John McCain, you can trust the man to do what he says!"

Trustworthy? Not really. Just as he has for years, John McCain recently on the David Letterman Show once again railed against Donald Rumsfeld for a "terribly mismanaged" Iraq War.

But, in doing so, Sen. McCain once again failed to acknowledge the fact that Pres. Bush as the man who calls the shots, appointed and stood by Rumsfeld for four years, ignoring criticism from his own party, even as casualty tolls mounted by the hour.

Also Mr. McCain continues to tout the "surge" in Iraq as a success, while ignoring the fact the "surge" was a consequence of the failure of the Iraq War during Rumsfeld's tenure as Pres. Bush's Secretary of Defense.

As long as 26 months ago the late William F. Buckley, Jr., declared the Iraq War to be "Pres. Bush's failure."

The reluctance of Sen. McCain to hold the President accountable for Rumsfeld's Reign of Error and the Iraq War mess make for a John McCain paradox: Military hero, political wuss. And untrustworthy.

Oh.....My.....God!
Mr. Paulson.....put down the kool-aid! You have been at the punch bowl farrrr to long!

I trust Mac about as far as I can throw him. There's no way on God's green earth that conservatives chose this idiot! He was chosen for us by the msm and cross over dems!

You think Bush is bad? Wait til Johnny boy gets a chance to screw things up.

I got a "survey" from Mac's campaign, asking about what I thought was important. Funny thing, not a word about immigration, legal or illegal. Course they wanted money for the privilege of sharing my opinion with them. They got zilch for money but, lots of opinion they didn't ask for.

We are soooo screwed!

Terry Paulson, PhD is a psychologist
DOCTOR, HEAL THYSELF!

McCain = trust ?

LMAO

McLame as trustable as Kim Campbell
Of course, Campbell was a lot dumber (she wouldn't have been allowed a Cabinet post by Mulroney otherwise), but...

Canadians delivered a verdict in November 1993 on how well they trusted Campbell--who WAS NOT one of the two PC's to retain her seat.

John McCain Will Lose
John McCain cannot become the next president of the United States!

I am not a Libertarian but Bob Barr has done a service for the United States by running for president! Conservatives now can vote for a “truer conservative,” than McCain.
What has happened to the Republican Party? Even Newt has gone to the dark side with the global warming hoax!

No doubt, that voting for Bob Barr will give Obama the White House. Nevertheless, if democrat/socialist policies are going to be promoted then let someone that has democrat/socialist title be responsible for the consequences!

McCain is counting on conservatives to vote for him because he believes that we will not want to see the democrat in the White House. However, if conservatives vote for him it will set the Reagan Revolution back another generation. Can those of us that claim to love the great conservative Ronald Reagan and, what he did for us, violate our consciences by voting for liberal McCain? Conservatives must not only defeat the left wing we must defeat the Nixon/Rockefeller wing of the Republican Party! Let these elitist do what Jay Rockefeller did and join the other elitists that comprise the democrat party!

McCain-Kennedy, McCain-Feingold, McCain-Leiberman. Leadership like this the country can do without. Carbon taxes, constitutional rights for Gitmo detainees and amnesty for illegal aliens await us no matter who wins!

Therefore, we must prepare for the pain of another Jimmy Cater, so that the Reagan Revolution will again rise out of the wilderness and bring pride in, and common sense to the United States of America!

May God Help the United States of America!

The reason we're stuck with McCain
Is that we didn't unify behind a more conservative candidate earlier. Romney was a Mormon, Thompson was boring, Huckabee wasn't conservative enough on fiscal issues, Giuliani wasn't conservative enough on social issues, Duncan Hunter (my own favorite) never got much traction, Ron Paul (who I greatly admire) was denigrated as a kook, etc. Now we're stuck with McCain.

Compared to Obama, McCain is wonderful. He's a patriot (Obama wouldn't even wear the pin, or raise his hand for the pledge). He's got foreign policy credentials. He's got convictions. He was right on the surge. He wants to cut government spending. He's pro-life and pro-2nd amendment.

He is also for comprehensive immigration reform, is willing to compromise too much with liberals at times, etc. However, what if Obama gets elected and put forth Hillary or Bill as the next Supreme Court Justice? What if Obama gets elected and throws our economy in the tank by doubling cap gains rates? What if Obama is elected and we end up with another Iran-hostage type of situation because Obama is perceived as weak by the Mid-East tyrants?

As much as I'm going to have to hold my nose to vote for McCain, I'll do it because the alternative (President Obama) is worse.

Trust McCain to be a Democrat
We can trust him to do what he says. That's exactly what scares me about him. He continues to stick his finger in the eyes of his conservative base apparently believing he doesn't need us to get him in the White House. Kyoto anyone?

To All of You Who Support
illegal immigration I say; Set a sign in your front lawn that says "Free Room and Board, Come One, Come All" then leave your doors unlocked, and see how long it takes before your home is not fit for man or beast. See how long it takes before you yank your kids out of your house and never, ever let them return.

This is exactly what you are trying to do to our country, and I resent the he-l out of you for it. Don't ask me to open my country to criminals if you insist on keeping your own home secure!

Dark times ahead for Conservatives
Well here is my logic:
I know that there are some holes in it but I believe we have to look for the future. Mc Cain shows every day that he does not worry about our votes. He believes in: “where else can they go” theory. So he concentrates on the left and middle.
I have a different idea, if Mc Cain gets in, he is the head of the party, he will want to push his agenda, the Republicans in the House and Senate will be forced to go along, (look at the last immigration bill) so any left leaning bills will never be stopped. Who is there to do it? The Republicans? They will follow Mc Cain’s lead. The Democrats? Never.
If we are the party out of power we will fight to stop legislation put up by Obama or Billary.
The problem with this is a few things, one the war. That is one spot that Mc Cain is strong on. The other is judges, that is yet to be seen. He said that he did not like Roberts as a choice.
One important point, if we cannot filibuster then all is lost. Other then those few things I don’t see much difference.

JimP--TRUST?
I could not have put it better but i'll repeat it "BY THEIR DEEDS YE SHALL KNOW THEM" Good GOD, lets see GANG OF 14--GLOBAL WARMING--Keating 5--AMNESTY--VP FOR KEERY THOUGHT--NO TAX CUTS--CLOSE GITMO/ GIVE TERRORISTS CITIZENS RIGHTS --NO DRILLING--TORTURE--McCAIN FEINGOLD--FINANCE--STEM CELL RESEARCH--DUMPS SICK WIFE FOR YOUNG RICH CHICK--HOT HEAD WITH ARUDE ARROGANT MOUTH--BACK STABBING REPUBLICANS--IDEA OF BYPARTISAN IS GIVE IN TO LIBERALS--KENNEDY ALLY-- OPPORTUNISTIC, ETC..........ETC. TRUST MY A$$. AFTER 54 YEARS OF VOTING IN EVERY ELECTION I'LL SIT THIS ONE OUT . I WILL NOT VOTE FOR A NOMINEE SELECTED BY THE MEDIA WHO REPRESENTS THE DEMOCRATIC/LIBERAL AGENDA. MR. PAULSON WAKE UP I'D VOTE FOR CORPSE BEFORE I VOTE FOR ANY OF THE THREE LIBERALS NOW IN CONTENTION CAUSE I KNOW THEY CAN'T HURT ME.

I don't trust McCain
His most apparent and fervent positions have always been in opposition to his own party. Increasingly, his distain for conservatives has become more apparent. Democrats will trust him, not republicans and particularily conservatives. He wants to be president so he panders and in addition seems to have a deep seated need to be oppositional. I am sure this characteristic got him through imprisionment and torture but it not good for a president of all the people.

Trust John McCain....
...why Terry, you must be drinking the Maverick Kool-Aide.
The last thing any sane person should do is to put their trust in McCain. He has proven over and again that he'll turn on you in a heart beat. About the only thing he has been steady about is his pork barrel opposition, and I doubt that he'd keep that promise if he thought he could score some points with his Democrat friends. He is definitely not of the conservative Republican mold, and in fact he should turn Independant, to keep up with his new best friend Joe Lieberman.

Speaking of friends, McCain needs to stop refering to everyone as "my friends." We are not your friends, John, and calling us such is pandering at the utmost. Further-more, your constant use of the finger waving quote/unquote sign is out dated and annoying. (Had to unload on that one, as it drives me up a wall.)

Lastly, just because he has an R behind his name, doesn't mean that we have to vote for him, because he'll be better than either of the Democrats. No he won't, he'll be just the same as them, only he'll further tarnish what little respect the Republicans have left. No thanks. I'll sit this one out and watch Obama screw everything up. Maybe then the Republicans will take their heads out of their behinds and start acting like true conservatives. Or maybe not, and a new party will rise from the dung heap like a phoenix.

McCain & Amnesty / Virginia Patriot
I agree with the way you feel about McCain. Here's something to think about. We can de-fund the RNC at the national level and financially support Congressional candidates that are conservative, at least minimizing the damage there. Then, we can still vote for McCain, with the hope, at least, that all comes out for the best. One thing is certain: Both Barack Hussein and Hillary would not only give aliens amnesty, but they would open the borders wide and increase the size of the welfare state. They would also appoint very liberal judges to the federal courts and Supreme Court. Just look down the road four years. With a little luck that lump on the side of his neck will grow. Who knows, if he has a real conservative running mate, we could hit the trifecta: ridding the world of Hillary, beating Barack Hussein AND having Johnny leave this orb prematurely. There is an upside to cancer.

MC Cain and the RNC notice..
Hey John Mc Cain, his staff, and the RNC.
I can say personally say how much I hate the path you have run this once great party down.

Because the Democratic party has moved to the left field bleachers that does not mean we have to move to left field and center left field.

Because the Democratic party has totally gone into the deep end over global warming (or climate change which ever fits now..) does not mean we have to get into the shallow end.

Because the Democratic party wants to buy the U-haul company and move every last Mexican to the United States, does not mean we have to have open borders.

Because the Democratic party will never allow us to drill a drop of our own oil as they yell that “we should be energy independent.” That does not mean we should not stop trying over and over to drill offshore as well as in Alaska. (if nothing but to show who is making the price of gas go up).

The point is for you idiots running the RNC, we did not win by becoming Democrats lite. We won via strong conservative ideas and principles. Have you noticed how donations are dropping?
You have NO idea how a large percent of us are looking toward other parties.

SEE WITH US, (JUST LIKE EVERY ONE THAT IS IN OUR MILITARY) ITS NOT ABOUT POWER, ITS ABOUT OUR COUNTRY, THE COUNTRY WE LEAVE FOR OUR CHILDREN.

ITS NOT ABOUT TRIANGULATION, ITS ABOUT DOING THE RIGHT THING, EVEN IF WE STAND ALONE.
UNTIL YOU IN THE RNC GET IT, MY MONEY, MY SUPPORT, MY EFFORT AND MY VOTE WILL STAY WITH ME..

Happy Cinco de Mayo day!!
Oh by the way, for you that think that Mc Lame has changed his mind on immigration. According to his web-site we want to announce happy (I am so not kidding) Cinco de Mayo day and that he is attending La Raza Annual Convention in San Diego on July 14, 2008.

Trust McCain To Stab You In The Back
That's what conservatives can expect from McCain, more of the same, he's been doing it for years.

baseballdoc, glad you've become a maverick!

usa4freedom
Very well said. My sentiments exactly!

Seawolf
I appreciate your comments regarding McCain's service in Vietnam. His service to his country in the military is commendable. But I believe the main discussion here is a political one. Would I trust him as a squadron commander and a patriot? Absolutely. But now we are 40 some odd years down the road and talking about trusting him politically and watching how he has conducted himself as a so-called conservative politician. Being a brave soldier does not in and of itself qualify one as President of the US.

john will not succeed..!! shefali...

If mitt was agnostic, and thompson and hunter were both taking political viagra, and rudy wasn't such an adulterer, and huckabee hadn't hid behind the cross(PLUS KISSED THE BUTTS OF THE ILLEGALS), and paul had come accros as a
cookie instead of a kook(by the media)...john
still would have got the nomination! It was engineered !IT WAS HIS TURN...REMEMBER BOB DOLE
ANOTHER WAR HERO..remember the results!
I'll say it again..the liberals outnumber us by appx. 3 to 1,the war is not very popular, the country is in deep debt, and the money raising is very low for gop,the dollar is depreciating,
and ohhh to heck with it..he's gonna lose and I hate the democratic party...but it is mudsville!

"Fear Is McCain's Only Hope
It might work.

But not on me."

You nailed it! And you get this from others in his camp - "Do you want Obama for President? NO? Then vote for McCain!"
It almost makes you wonder if the RNC and McCain put up Obama as a strawman to frighten us into voting for McCain.

Oh Yeah, trust. My donkey.

This is a consequence of us sleeping...
while the conservative movement was hijacked by a pack of big government socialists who called themselves neoconservatives. They are not conservatives at all.

While I don't like the pictures that this person put with this subset of a speech given by Ron Paul, if you listen to it, you'll know what happened to the conservative movement. It's not very long.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4df1soW7Dho

dear elvis, handsome fellow:

This 8 to 12 billion loss a year is bullfeathers; you have no basis for any such a claim. Just the zany right-fringe white supremacist propaganda mill.

In fact 12 billion would be very well-spent if it educated as many kids as your wooly-head math thinks are cheating the system. Education is a terrific investment. It makes good American citizens, sometimes.

But back to your first unfounded cluster of BS: illegal immigration is
NOT --N O T, America's biggest "threat." This kind of hyperbole is mere alarmism. We're a nation of more than 300 million inhabitants. Of the illegal immigrants maybe 7 million come over from Mexico. Not all of them remain here illegally after a year or two; they have HOMES south of the border. They love their native land.

Why should such men and women be seen as our "biggest threat" --? On account of you got a hair up your @ss? Of the others, we can help them or hurt them. YOU and the hate-mongering Klan types want to hurt them. You ought to be ashamed of yourselves. You are CRAP, not upright Christian Americans.

A country of 300 million could easily absorb 12 million poor into our midst without causing a tremor in the system. Most are good, hard-working men and women who help our economy. All your ungodly raving is fed by a white supremacy hangup. You don't like dark-skinned types in your town, or anybody who speaks another language -- To you these are mongrels. That's the typical racist attitude of our white european class since the days of Pocahontas and John Smith. When the only good indian was a dead indian. You should start facing this sickness you harbor in your stupid hearts. Treat people like God's children; or God will consign you someday to the PIT, where all racists are going.

keep in mind, Fabius
You're asking without prejudice; that's wonderful.

However remember. Just because we question one or another candidate's qualities is no sign he was not a person God loves and prefers over the the others. Recall the boy; David. He was almost forgotten. But God didn't forget David.

Saul the Pharisee was a very negative candidate, I think; to have become Saint Paul. Nor was a Galilean fisherman such promising material as to become the holy apostle Peter.

I love these paradoxical suggestions and objections which arise to make us wish; to wish for simple and logical formulae. It makes life a charming if often morbid experience. We will keep faith and see.
