Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

When it comes to discussing the Middle East, there are two Barack Obamas -- and both could cause problems for the United States.

First, there is Obama the Environmentalist. He says he wants to deprive Middle Eastern states of oil revenue because those oil revenues fund terrorists and because burning Middle Eastern oil in American cars and factories is destroying the planet through global warming.

Then there is Obama the Man of Peace. He is less worried about sending oil money to the Middle East than sending bad vibes.

Obama the Environmentalist hit the campaign trail last summer, giving speeches on energy policy. Obama the Man of Peace appeared this week on Al Arabiya TV.

Obama the Environmentalist spoke to a domestic audience whom he understood to be angry about the price of gas. Obama the Man of Peace spoke to a foreign audience whom he understood to be angry about U.S. anti-terrorism policies.

"One of the most dangerous weapons in the world today is the price of oil," Obama the Environmentalist said in a July campaign speech. "We ship nearly $700 million a day to unstable or hostile nations for their oil. It pays for terrorist bombs going off from Baghdad to Beirut. It funds petro-diplomacy in Caracas and radical madrassas from Karachi to Khartoum. It takes leverage away from America and shifts it to dictators."

In another July speech, Obama the Environmentalist envisioned a Middle East that would be populated by tyrants for at least another 20 years. That, together with the threat of climatic apocalypse, he argued, makes it necessary for the United States to mount a massive effort to curtail petroleum use.

"If we stay on our current course, the rapid growth of nations like China and India will rise about one-third by 2030," he said. "In that same year, Middle Eastern regimes will be sitting on 83 percent of our global oil reserves. Imagine that -- the very source of energy that fuels nearly all of our transportation, controlled almost entirely by some of the world's most unstable and undemocratic governments."

"We are not a country that places our fate in the hands of dictators and tyrants -- we are a nation that controls our own destiny," he said. "And it's why we must end the tyranny of oil in our time."

This Environmentalist did not appear on Al Arabiya this week. The Man of Peace did.

This Obama, speaking to the Arab world, lauded the peace plan put forward by King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia -- the Middle East's premier autocratic oil peddler -- as an act that "took great courage."

This Obama did not see a region that more than 20 years from now will still bristle with "dictators and tyrants." He saw a region brimming with nations ready to work with him and Secretary of State Clinton as respected partners.

"I do think that it is impossible for us to think only in terms of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and not think in terms of what's happening with Syria or Iran or Lebanon or Afghanistan and Pakistan," he said. "And what I've said, and I think Hillary Clinton has expressed this in her confirmation, is that if we are looking at the region as a whole and communicating a message to the Arab world and the Muslim world, that we are ready to initiate a new partnership based on mutual respect and mutual interest, then I think that we can make significant progress."

This Obama said he was withdrawing troops from Iraq and closing Guantanamo. When the interviewer congratulated the Man of Peace for avoiding President Bush's use of "broad" terms like "war on terror" and "Islamic fascism," Obama not only declined to defend his predecessor in the presidency against a slight leveled by an anchorman for a TV network based in a Persian Gulf emirate, he accepted the anchor's point.

"President Bush framed the war on terror conceptually in a way that was very broad, 'war on terror,'" said the Al Arabiya interviewer, "and used sometimes certain terminology that the many people -- Islamic fascism. You've always framed it in a different way, specifically against one group called al-Qaida and their collaborators. And is this one way of --"

"I think that you're making a very important point," said Obama. "And that is that the language we use matters."

Yes, it does. And what matters most in the language of the commander in chief of the United States is that it reflects reality. The language the two Obamas have used to describe the Middle East reflects political posturing.

He will learn that smooth talk and smug self-satisfaction will neither defeat nor deter our very real enemies in that part of the world.

nothing personal. Just jabbing back at you a tad. Actually had another WV joke:
Do you know how they define "forclose"?

If I pay alimony this month, I'll have no money foreclose.

Seriously, lot's of good folks down there. My former company had glass factory in Huntington and one of my best pals ran their Machine Repair Dept. as I did in my plant.

Tom WI
No, I can truthfully say I've never heard that one!! I'll surmise U REALLY enjoyed that??
Actually, I try to be objective and civil in my rather infrequent posts on TH. To each his own, eh what??CHEERS

Reba
So what you did was substitute words and pretended it was direct quote? There's a name for that and it's not very nice.

Sort of like saying that when George Bush said "we will stand with our allies..." I could quote him as saying "we will stand with Iran" and you would accept it?

As for Roy from WV:
Did you ever hear the one about why the ducks fly upside down when they go over WV?

Because there's nothing worth crapping on down there!

Roy

Thanks for the warning.

I do believe Ur wasting ur time with Tom of WI.
I spent many weekends, many years ago, in Rhinelander, WI as a member of a Sport Parachute Club.. Had much fun, and met a lot of good folks, there. The *University of Madison* appears to have made quite a difference in area attitudes.. CHEERS

It is a quote from his book, after 9-11, and actually he was refering to American Arabs and Muslims who were concerned about their own safety and belonging in America after 9-11. The actual quote is "I will stand with them if the political winds should shift in an ugly direction." I can not nor will not try to interpret what he means by "I will stand with them". It could mean many things to him and another to us. However, most Americans in a national crises do not take a ethnical position.

Reba
Please give the source or the time, place, and date where Obama said:

"Should the political winds turn ugly, I will side with my MUSLIM BROTHERS"

That sounds like a phony one to me.

TO ALL OBAMA DROOLERS
To all the Obama Droolers....

I hope you haven't forgotten two of Obama's most quoted statements...Which are just beginning to take shape...

(1) "Should the political winds turn ugly, I will side with my MUSLIM BROTHERS"
and now, he is closing Gitmo...just the first of many favors to "His Muslim Brothers"... and kissing their butts with his anti-American, We-Love-Our-Muslim-Brothers "fireside chat" giving his first formal interview to Al-Arabiya, an Arab TV network. And the first phone call Obama made as president was to the "President of Palestine ". Are we noticing a trend here?

(2)"It is going to take a LOT OF MONEY to do WHAT I WANT"....Looks like he's not kidding....a LOT of money...to do what HE WANTS...Not what America wants or what is good for America...What HE WANTS...AND...White Males are going to take the biggest bashing/beating...Just check-out the You-Tube video...BREAKING NEWS: OBAMA ECONOMIC TEAMS SAYS NO WHITE MALE CONSTRUCTION WORKERS.

America is going to be SO TOTALLY SCREWED with this Socialist Dictator and his Cabinet of Chicago Crooks, Re-Cycled Clintonists, and Democratic DC Insiders who have no interest in positive change.... Congrats.

Jerseyvet and white knight
You seem to imply that Obama has somehow caused all of our woes after one WEEK in office.

Tell us, who was in control both when 35,000 Americans were killed or maimed in Iraq and during the following give-aways to the Wall Street white shirts:

Citigroup $355 BILLION
Bank of America $145 BILLION
AIG $90 BILLION
JP Morgan Chase $25 BILLION
Wells Fargo $25 BILLION
Goldman Sachs $10 BILLION
Morgan Stanley $10 BILLION
PNC Financial Services Group $7.6 BILLION
U.S. Bancorp $6.6 BILLION
Chrysler $4 BILLION
Capital One Financial $3.6 BILLION
American Express $3.4 BILLION

I don't agree with much of what BHO is doing but let's not pretend it was not Bush who got this ball rolling.

Huh
What is missing from this column is the explanation of what Obama is saying that is wrong. Are dictators of the middle east people that we want to be dependent on? If that is now the conservative position it is an odd one.

Does that mean that we can't work with those countries where are interests meet? We have done so in the past.

Working with these countries while reducing our dependence on them seems like a sensible program.

Why do people here prefer the Bush policy of not working with the region while increasing our dependence on them? That just seems foolish.

Jersey Vet and White Knight
I agree with both of you. Here'e a question...How do we stop it before it gets worse?

I wrote (or keyed) about this on another thread today...the original American Patriots stopped it in Boston Harbor...thank God (the real one not 0bama) they didn't have the internet on which to vent their frustrations...they put a stop to it and I believe in what they did!!!

Obama's learning curve
President Obama sent Senator Mitchell on a "listening tour." I'm sure he will hear the same old nonsense that comes from a people (Arabs) who refuse to face reality. Israel exists, (she) will not be attacked with impunity, that her people feel a sense of belonging right where they are and that they will not be moved. That is ground zero of the argument. When the President comes to face this fact, his education will have begun. High flying words and fantasies will not change the facts. Obama's learning curve will be sharp and steep. The stubborness of Israel's enemies will surely be an awakening.

The Antichrist is alive and well
If Israeli's gives up any more land, and especially the temple mount, to gain peace from their avowed Muslim enemies... they are very stupid indeed because it should be obvious by now that no Muslim wants peace with Israel.

The only time Israel will have peace is the 3.5 years that the Antichrist gives them before all hell breaks loose during the Great Tribulation.

With everything else in place, the Antichist is a full grown man just waiting in the wings to step on stage... maybe he already has.

A MAN OF WORLD VISION
is what the liberal networks, MSNBC, CNN, called Obama's interview at Al-Arabiya. I saw the interview as appeasement to our enemies. His Muslim leanings are showing.

the messiah and the middle east
the messiah like other presidents has this fantasy they will resolve the conflicts of the middle east.

But it this case we have a delusional president, b hussein obamarxist who after a lifetime of being told he is special now has the delusion his presence alone will be enough to make world peacve and make the barbarian muslims suddenly start acting civilized.

We already see the barbarity muslims practice on fellow muslims yet the messiah believes he alone can bring the barbarians from living in the 10th century to live in the 21st century and act civilized in their actions towards the rest of the world.

However we have ample proof the muslims neither disre or plan on anything other than their killing ways and war against the west that they have been waging since they took over iran in 1978 under the failed carter.

audiR10
what man/child b hussein obamarxist will prove is that by comparison bubba will go down in history as one of the greatest leaders this country has ever seen

We already knew that bubba was so guided by polls that he needed to ask the public if it was time to change his undies.

We are now dealing with a child like leader who thinks he is beyond questioning and that all should line up behind his ill conceived ideas that huge deficits will do anything more than enable the same losers the dims count on to win elections.

But worst, the trolls can only feel good about themselves if their messiah is viewed favorably. When the messiah fails, as he will, it calls into question the trolls judgement about voting for him and their worship of this cult of personality.

And for the trolls this is something they are ill equipped to handle

Two Obamas
Let's face it. Obama is a radical leftist who thinks that we can negotiate with terrorists. I hope America is not destroyed before this misguided genious understands the real nature of America's enemies; That's anyone that hates our form of government.

You elected a high school junior
and now you're surprised when he behaves like a high school junior?

You wanted it, you got it. Enjoy the show.

Not a balanced man
Obama is the legislator who voted "present" over a hundred times. Obama is the man who states a position but adds "on the other hand I can see...". Obama is the man who seeks out Republicans but says "I won." Obama is a man who campaigned as a christian but had his first interview as president with a muslim TV station during which he presented himself as a man with muslim relatives and a man who has lived in a muslim country. Obama is a man who campaigned for almost 2 years but no one knows what he will do as president.

This is all consistent with a person, half white and half black, raised in a white environment who has spent much of his life puzzling over his identity. I would feel better with a more balanced person as president.

My greatest concern
regarding Obama, is the man is so arrogant.

Arrogance is pure folly. Arrogance could place America in a very ugly situation. And I predict within the first two years of Obama's administration, through his direct foreign policy meddling, he will create a very hostile, explosive situation in the world, with Russia, or China, Iran, North Korea, take your pick.

The man who had the greatest impact in foreign relations, was also known as one of the most humble Presidents in recent history, Ronald R. Reagan.

Sold Out
Jerseyvet
American has been sold out. I do not see it as ever being the USA we loved again. I think I will go back to bed and hide.

Obama's Utopia, a Mad Dream
Jimmy Carter must be happy. President Obama looks like he's going to be a bigger failure than the peanut farmer. The only problem is we don't have a Reagan on the horizon to undo the damage done by this feckless socialist hellbent on turning the U.S. into the U.S.S.R.

God save America.

Mr. Sensitive.
His first TV appearance as The newly elected President of the United States of America. On Al Arabiya????????????????? This guys ego never ceases to amaze me. The Islamic jihad wants to cut off our head with a dull pocket knife & he crawls up to them & impunes Bush again(just like during the inaugural speech looking backwards...again as well.) Obama wants to be great & thought well of. He does not care about peace or terror or Israel or Palestinians or us. He thinks about his political future. Bush will be blamed for all the failures Obama creates with this Holier than thou Carter repeat. So much for a stable democratic middle east. Never with obama.
