The Problem With Obama's -- Not Wright's -- Vision

The greatest barrier to Barack Obama becoming a leader who truly advances the cause of justice is not found in the racially polarizing and unpatriotic comments of his longtime pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, but in Obama's own vision of civil rights, which cannot be reconciled with the vision Martin Luther King Jr. used to achieve victory for the civil rights movement.

King's vision was as simple as it was unifying: An unjust law is a law that is not consistent with the natural law and the law of God.

The question King put to Americans was: Is racial discrimination consistent with the natural law and the law of God? The question had only one answer: No.

The reason Americans answered correctly is perhaps best explained by St. Paul, who said in his letter to the Romans that all people have the natural law "written on their hearts."

Whether they like it or not, human beings know the basic rules of right and wrong. Great leaders -- like Martin Luther King Jr. -- achieve positive change by forcing people to confront injustice and appealing to what is already written in their hearts to remedy that injustice.

Obama cannot unabashedly embrace this simple vision for a simple reason: He advocates policies that not only violate the natural law, but do so egregiously because they especially victimize children, who because of their vulnerability especially deserve society's protection.

These policies are legalized abortion, which allows unborn children to be killed, and granting same-sex unions the same legal status as marriage, including the "right" to adopt children, which results in children being denied either a mother or a father by the deliberate policy of the state.

Martin Luther King Jr.'s vision derived its political force from at least three factors: It was rooted in a moral tradition that transcends denominational divisions, it was exactly the same vision articulated in the Declaration of Independence, and it was true.

King, an African American Baptist clergyman, explained his vision in the Letter from Birmingham Jail, where he referenced not only the Declaration of Independence, which was drafted by a Deist, but also the writings of two Catholic saints, one of whom died in 430, the other in 1274.

"I would agree with St. Augustine that 'an unjust law is no law at all,'" wrote King. "Now, what is the difference between the two? How does one determine whether a law is just or unjust? A just law is a manmade code that squares with the moral law or the law of God. An unjust law is a code that is out of harmony with the moral law. To put it in terms of St. Thomas Aquinas: An unjust law is a human law that is not rooted in eternal law and natural law."

This is precisely what the Founding Fathers were saying when they cited "the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God" and insisted that all men "are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights."

Before the sayings of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright created a national controversy last week, Obama had tipped his hand on where he stood relevant to the Founders' and King's vision of justice.

At a Sunday morning event in Nelsonville, Ohio, earlier this month, for example, he explained why he favors legalized abortion.

He implicitly conceded there is something wrong with abortion, which he said has "a real moral element." But, he concluded, "in the end I think women, in consultation with their pastors, and their doctors, and their family, are in a better position to make these decisions than some bureaucrat in Washington."

That is like saying segregation had a "real moral element" but in end should have been left up to states, local communities and businesses.

On Feb. 28, Obama released an open letter to the "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender" community. "I support the complete repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act," he said. That would mean states would not be protected from having to recognize same-sex marriages codified in Massachusetts or elsewhere.

"As your president," he said, "I will use the bully pulpit to urge states to treat same-sex couples with full equality in their family and adoption laws."

The people who would be bullied by this policy are children who would be thrown -- by edict of the government -- into same-sex unions in which nature itself would never have placed them.

No matter how persistently Obama invokes the rhetoric of national unity and reconciliation, the heart of the country will rebel against the very real consequence that his policies will harm the most vulnerable Americans of all.

This is the opposite of deism

They believe God has no influence in the affairs of men.

A blatant and inconsistent opposition to the D of I with the belief man is ruled only by his own reason.

Jefferson was no deist, not any of the men who signed this Document.

A double comparison could be made here. King was much like M.K. Gandhi (from whom he drew inspiration) and Obama is much like Jinnah in being irreligious (Jinnah consumed bacon and whisky EVERYDAY) but pandering to religious/racial divisiveness in pursuit of power.

Note that Gandhi is also oft (and wrongly, as he actually DID NOT believe in socialism, but in business-ownership) labelled a commie.

MLK may not have been a hard-core communist, BUT he did surround himself with communists. His closest advisor, Stanley Levison, was a communist, as was King's assistant, Jack O'Dell.

In fact, both Robert Kennedy and JFK implored MLK to cease associating with known communists.

In my modest opinion, King was a committed socialist, who not only believed in whites paying specific monetary reparations to blacks, but also in redistribution of income to benefit blacks.

I am not denying that King was an inspirational leader who focused upon redressing some wrongs in our society.

But I don't imbue him with an exalted status, an almost a mythical status, that some on the left do.

Liberals destroyed the black family
Liberal social programs destroyed the black family and electing Obama promises more of the same.

The Great Society failed, the War on Poverty was lost. There programs only succeeded in making bad into worse. Black families split apart and the illegitimate birth rate soared, drugs became commonplace and violent crime became a major problem. Liberal judges refused to make criminals responsible for their own behavior and the problems continued.

And you are teaching? It seems to me it was the liberal/left/ State Supreme Court that usurped the Legislature and forced it to come up with a law that enabled same sex marriage in our native state. That legislature was only too happy to comply since it has been dominated by the liberal/left democrats for decades. Are you old enough to remeber the Mayor Curley machine, now there was a case for fraud and corruption on a grand scale and Teddy the swimmer inherited the mantle through old Joe's connection with THE mayor. I would suggest that it is you that needs to do your homework. I have read the article that Greg mentioned; actually stumbled across it back on February 19th to be exact. It is a long and detailed account of the gay marriage issue, the courts decision, and Romney's actions that actually violate the Massachusetts constitution.

Bottom line is that Romney was not forced to impose gay marriage in Massachusetts, as he wants you to believe, but did so when the legislature refused to act! It was the legislature that was charged by the court to decide the question, not Romney. By law, Romney can not make law and neither can the court. That is the function of the legislature and to this day the legislature has avoided the issue. Thus the issue of gay marriage in Massachusetts is believed by many to be unconstitutional.

I'm not trying to be critical toward you or anyone else, but I believe a large number of people are ill informed about the real Romney. Just as with Obama and any other poitician, you can't figure out who they really are by reading the information on their website or listening to their speeches. You must do you due diligence and search the internet for the information they don't want you to know about!

Here's the link if you are interested! Warning, if you are a strong Romney supporter, this will at least raise your eyebrows! It was just one of the reasons I supported McCain over Romney. There are many more surprises about Romney, if you take the time to dig!

Since Jerabaub addressed Dr. Kings actual socialist leanings, I would address another issue. It wasn't just the conservatives of the day that accused MLK of being a communist/traitor. The Democrats took more than a few really good verbal shots at him in that direction.
Also, it was pretty much the southern Democrats (think Robert Byrd) that branded him a trouble-maker.
Learn your history before showing your ignorance.

The irony of course is that what the left believes in is basically marxist Jesus. Jesus never advocated Caesar to take care of the people. He preached to the individual responsibilities to take care of your neighbor and never advocated stealing from your neighbor Peter to give to neighbor pay Paul. Hugo Chavez and Daniel Ortega came back to power advocating marxist Jesus too.

Martin Luther King, Jr., was a Republican. He never intended to lead African Americans into the gettos of Detroit, NYC, LA or elsewhere thru the entitlements and the nanny state of the Democrats. He never intended to place African American male children into a position of having a much lower life expectancy in the population because of the demise of the black family, the entitlements and the nanny state of the Democrats. He intended to lead them into freedom where they could achieve the American Dream.

My reply: God started racism. Every tribe in the world has racism against one of the other tribes which they consider and enemy. They think their own way of thinking is the best and the enemy’s way of thinking must be insanity. Tribalism and racism are the unavoidable condition of the world, since God spoke the curse of Babel. In God’s opinion, the condition of tribalism and racism is better than a world without this curse, and with only one language. That would give one group of people the ability to dominate and oppress everybody in the world. Possibly a strategy against evil of divide and conquer. This is my reason for laughing at conspiracy theories about small groups of powerful people like the new world order, or the Builderburg Group, or the illuminati, or dozens of other theories I have heard all my life. Everywhere in the world differences between groups are getting more extreme. It is impossible to dominate the whole world, economically, politically, religiously, or linguistically… It is difficult to dominate large areas of the world, making the EU attempting to unify just the economies of Europe very difficult. Attempts to form a North American union would be just as difficult, but not impossible. It is difficult to dominate large areas of the world, and impossible to dominate the whole world, because that right is reserved for Jesus. He found a great treasure buried in a field, went and sold all that he had and bought the field. God’s answer to racism in the world is not dialogue. God’s answer to racism in the world is the church, in every tribe, tongue, people, and nation. God demands unity in the Church. We can enjoy the cultural diversity in the church. Christians have no business being part of world peace movements that are outside the church.


Why is Obama running for Pres?
Why is Barack Obama running for President?
He claims that he is uniquely qualified to “bring our country together” and that despite his lack of experience and relative youth, he has demonstrated superior “judgment”.
Obama has now acknowledged Reverend Jeremiah Wright, used incendiary language that widened the racial divide. Obama says of (his) fellow congregants that (their) anger is real; it is powerful; and that not understanding its roots, serves to widen the chasm between the races.
If Obama is really the Reconciler in Chief, why didn’t he change the hearts of Rev. Wright and his flock over the past 20 years? Everyone is asking what influence the good Reverend had on the candidate, but shouldn’t we be wondering why the very people Obama knew best, still hate America, the White Man and Israel?
With regard to the issue of judgment; Obama demeans President Bush, John McCain and the Clintons claiming that they didn’t know what was going on inside Saddam’s closed police state, (10,000 miles away) when he didn’t know what was happening in the pew right next to him.
I think that pretty well sums up the qualifications issue.

1 - I understand Obama’s message
When you understand his tribe, Rev. Wright’s church, all of Obama’s positions start to make sense. Obama was against the war, wants to use the government to move lots of money from the US to Africa, he wants to tax the rich more, he wants health care by the government for everybody, more atheist government schools, etc, etc, etc…

The reason this discussion about Rev Wright’s church is so confusing to everybody is that the liberation theology in black churches wrapped the Marxism and Cultural Marxism in racist terms. It's Marxism in sheep's clothing. My Jesus doesn't make the distinction of whether you are rich or poor, powerful or weak. Marxists do. In the last century the Catholics had many battles keeping down this kind of Marxism promoted around the world as revolution theology. It's not Christian.

Marxism, the desire for everybody to have equal wealth was asserted to be, God is against whites because they are rich, and for the blacks because they are poor. Cultural Marxism, the desire for everybody to have equal power was asserted to be, God is against the whites because they are powerful, and for the blacks because they are weak. These were done by a despair subculture to cripple every part of our society, weaken our economy and to abrogate every legitimate authority and use or force in our society. They honor victims instead of military heroes. They honor perverts instead of holy men. They honor the lazy instead of the productive.

2 - I understand Obama’s message
If you remove the racism, and the religion, it is at the core still about hating the rich because they are rich, and hating the powerful because they are powerful. It is about using the government to take from the rich and powerful and give to the poor and empowering the powerless. Remove the racism ad you have the messages of Hillary and Ted Kennedy. Remove the religion and you have George Soros and Romm Emanuel. This despair subculture of Marxism and Cultural Marxism, are mostly Democrats in our government, who say anybody who opposes them doesn’t care about the poor and the powerless. The other Democrat candidates are just as bad, they just haven’t used racist terms to describe their revolution. About half the country is a part of this despair subculture from the rock and roll generation wanted to change the world and that spit on the troops. They are the reeds blowing in the wind that vote D no matter how bad everything gets.

If you for a moment put yourself in the mindset of Rev. Wright’s church, as I have described it, then go and examine all of Obama’s positions they all make sense. That tribe is the only world view, beliefs, values, he has ever seen. Just making a bad idea popular, applauding it, and voting on it will not turn it into a good idea.
