Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

DAVENPORT, IOWA -- If the presidential campaign were the lead-up to a World Wrestling Entertainment smackdown, John McCain would be winning. A former high-school wrestler, he's been making the most of the chance to show his withering contempt for the other guy.

At a town hall meeting on Friday in Wisconsin, McCain had taken a surprising tack. When a woman in the audience said that Barack Obama "is an Arab" (presumably meaning "Muslim"), McCain said it wasn't so. Responding to a questioner who was "scared" by Obama, McCain assured him, "Sen. Obama is a decent person and a person you don't have to be scared of as president of the United States" -- a statement that sparked boos.

Today, McCain is intent on making sure any boos are directed at his opponent. He slams him for voting for pork barrel projects, planning to raise taxes and "insider dealing."

That's just a warmup for his most contemptuous jibe. "He's even questioned my truthfulness," says McCain, his voice marinated in acid, "and let me reply in the plainest terms I know: I don't need lessons on telling the truth to the American people, and were I ever to need any improvement in that regard, I probably wouldn't seek it from a Chicago politician."

Of course many voters may think there is no important ethical difference between a Chicago politician and a Washington politician, which is what McCain has been for more than a quarter of a century. The accusations of dissembling have come not only from the Obama campaign, but from independent monitors that even McCain invokes when convenient.

And if the GOP campaign is trying to distance itself from those who harbor dark suspicions about Obama's religion, someone didn't get the memo. Before McCain's arrival at today's rally, a local clergyman delivered an invocation that instructed the Almighty on His handling of the coming election.

"There are millions of people around this world praying to their god -- whether it's Hindu, Buddha, Allah -- that his opponent wins, for a variety of reasons," said Rev. Arnold Conrad. "And Lord, I pray that you would guard your own reputation because they're going to think that their god is bigger than you if that happens."

No one seems to think it's strange or inappropriate to portray the election as a choice between Jehovah and Allah. Maybe the audience is too busy pondering some discomfiting questions: If McCain loses, is it because God wanted him to lose? Or is it because one of those other gods is running the show?

This hostile note is in keeping with the tone struck by the candidate. Several senators, including some in his own party, have complained of his explosive temper, and he has even acknowledged that his hothead reputation has some basis. But today, McCain is advertising it as an asset during a time of economic trouble. He sounds madder than John Edwards on a bad hair day.

"One thing I hear from Americans at every stop is that they're angry," he says. "They're angry. THEY'RE ANGRY." He then lists the things they are angry about, including the failures of Wall Street. "You're angry," he declares, "and I'm angry too." But he sounds more like someone hacked off about trailing in the polls rather than someone infuriated by what he calls "greed, corruption and incompetence."

Part of the problem is that Republicans can't really bring off denunciations of greed. Ordinarily, they treat it, with sound insight, not as a mortal sin but as a powerful natural drive that capitalism harnesses for the benefit of all.

They are more convincing when excoriating governmental failure. This time, that's also a problematic sell, since the failures of the past eight years are generally blamed, fairly or not, on a president who heads McCain's own party.

But the real question McCain's performance raises is this: Assuming Americans are mad, does that mean they are looking for a president who revels in his anger? Right now a lot of people are feeling scared, bewildered and even lost. But rather than seek a leader who shares those feelings, they probably would like one who can alleviate them.

If voters want a president who is angry, McCain may win. If they prefer a president who will remove the causes of their anger, his exhibition of outrage will encourage them to look elsewhere.

What if it was a pitchfork?
Silly Pagan

Stunning...
Display of bigotry displayed by Arnold Conrad.
Wonder if he'll be Palin's VP choice in 2012???

Dear Steve Chapman...
Who do you think you are ? Some kind of lib-sympathizer ? These types of columns aren't appreciated here at TH. So what if it happened or not.
Who cares except Billy Ayers and Buddha ? And Mericns like us don't care what them type folks and gods think, now do we ? Get with program...it's an election year, dummy.
Negative 5 checks for this unnecessarily honest mess of words and things you've thrown together... somebody at TH do something!!!
Your Former Fan & A Palin Man,
Joe Six Pack,
Perplexed, Pa.

I'm angry. At the GOP.
for trying to out-liberal the democrats.

News flash - liberals, university "intellectuals", the media, and hollywood are NEVER going to like conservatives. Stop trying to get them to like you, grow a pair, and do the right thing.

And quit running liberals for office. There are plenty of conservative Republicans that would have cleaned Obama's clock at the ballot box this time around. As I recall, McCain was nominated by people who said "he's electable". How's that working out for you now?

GOP, let me know when you've got your head on straight. In the mean time I'm voting for Baldwin.

Yeah, Chris!

Baldwin's not on the Leftifornia ballot so...

Barr 2008!

LET IT RIP JOHNNY
If he has a bad temper, now would be a very good time for a demo.

Listen Up, Mr. Chapman

Do you know that FactCheck is run by the Annenbergs? The same Annenbergs that hired Obama and his law firm to be general counsel for ACORN? the same Obama that ran Project Vote for ACORN? So much for your saying McCain is a liar!

Also, the anger will not be assuaged by Obama's programs. For instance, his "crisis programs" announced today will turn off any thinking American who sees it for what it is....redistribution of wealth.

And...do you know, Mr. Chapman, that the wealthiest people in the US are now mainly Democrats? Witness, Gates and Buffett and Soros and Bloomberg (eight-year Republican and now Independent), etc. So now the Democrats' support comes from the wealthy and the poor who are enslaved to the giveaways of the Democrats.

It is the Republicans who represent the middle class, the taxpayers who do the real work in this nation and whose hard-earned money would be redistributed by Obama, who will, after all, not win the election.

Just a pretty simple explanation of why middle-class Americans are outraged.

McCain and Palin in 2008!

Weird election
As an independent, I, too, see exactly what has happened. John McCain IS A SOLIALIST trying to convince us hes's a Republican. Trouble is what we think of as Republicanism NO LONGER EXISTS. This recent trend towards Socialism by the U.S.A. shows clearly that we now have a Democratic-Socialist party and Republican-Socialist pary. Many of you, like me see this and this is what angers us.

John McCain isn't being honest. Sarah Palin is caught up in the moment. The existing Republican-Socialists which include McCain can't fight for us because he is not one of us any more.

We simply have to go with a third party in this election if we honestly want a conservative. It is a sad position we are in. The sooner we face it though the more we will understand the reason for our anger.

We've gone European. The rules have changed. Actually they have been changing all along, we just let ourselves be lied to. Some are still trying to play by by old rules.

As this election wears on I'm leaning to the third party alternative. Sadly this does mean an Obama presidency.

The THUGGERY is on the LEFT
OBAMA + ACORN + AYERS = THUGOCRACY

OBAMA + REV. WRIGHT = ANTI-WHITE RACISM

Joe Sixpack Blues.
So many folks claim to speak for Joe Sixpack.

Hell, he can't even get a word in edgewise, what with all the folks out there defining him, telling us what he thinks.

As to this and other columns:

All I got to say is some hoity-toity columnists sure have alot nerve coming onto this sacred internet site and saying negative stuff about John McCain, and the Divine One(Saint Sarah).

Meantime they got nothing bad to say about that commie Muslim terrorist.

No Sir, it just ain't right.

All kidding aside, I think Chapman has a point.

I have always thought McCain has a penchant for anger. Sometimes it shows...and definitely NOT to his advantage.

Part of the problem
Ah...,Mr. Chapman. A glowing example of the problems of the Fourth Estate.

I saw those speeches that you reference in this article. I cannot fathom how you twisted and knotted and omitted to come up with the drivel that you have placed here.

In the "Wonderland" that Barry Dunham and the press have created, "down is up and up is down".You obviously have attended too many tea parties hosted by the Mad Hatter!

Why o Why...
Is Townhall letting these libtards in rino clothing like Chapman to still publish their drivel here. As I have said before when the lefty loons start cheering for you, you've lost all, if you ever had any, con

McCain has never voted a tax raise
Mac has NEVER AHD AN EARMARK!!!

For those posters here calling Mac a socialist and sellout due to th *bailout*--an expense urged by the president, the entire financial community, world leaders, and the Senate--I'm not crazy about it and am not sure it was necessary, but those people with pensions and savings saw the stock market recover 500 pts. when the bailouts'release directly to banks was announced.

Maybe you're all kids (but I think they are blogging for O), but I saw Chrysler bailed out and NYC bailed out and didn't agree with those actions either, but they both worked, and they returned the money with interest.

My parents lived through the Great Depression, and its memory was a scar carried for life. If Mac wanted to *go to work for America,* I don't see how anyone here could be complaining, unless you WANT BANKRUPTCY AND DISASTER.

And some do. The media does, as it makes better headlines, and then they can repeat for the n-teenth time that voters prefer Dems. in bad ec. times.

I don't know why. FDR (DEMOCRAT) lengthened and deepened the Great Dep. with high taxes and tariffs, AND CARTER (DEMOCRAT)HAD THE NEXT WORST ECONOMY IN THE 20TH C.

“Withering Contempt” for Pseudo-Cons
Chapman, you’re a gut-less fraud.

Your constant attacks against the McCain-Palin ticket versus the paucity of attacks against the Obama-Biden ticket, with so little time left in the campaign, only assist the Marxists. While I don’t rate your intellect very highly, you are certainly cognizant enough to understand the necessary results of your actions.

There is no longer any question about who you prefer to win. You’ve hitched your wagon to the Change Express but you don’t have the courage to come right out and admit it.

Do Conservatives a favor and take a terminal sabbatical. (I suggest a high cliff.)

Is there a new Fed Program ??
For hiring disabled writers? This guy is obviously severely handicapped.

McCain has been incredibly restrained and been rewarded by being labeled a racist attack dog.

He's insisted "Rev. Wright" be off limits even though running Wright clips for a week in Ohio and PA would reverse the polls in those states.

McCain is a dud, he's weak - but he's not a comitted Marxist.

Arab vs. Muslim
Mr. Chapman

There is a distinction between Arab and Muslim. One is a religion and the other an 'ethnic group' and language.

Barak Hussein Obama Sr, father of Barry Jr. was listed on the rolls of his native Kenya as an Arab, not as a black, even though he doen have some black ancestry, IO believe his paternal grandmother belonged to the Luo tribe.
The Obamas were, apparently Aeab slave traders who emigrated from the north and married local women.

So the voter who suggested that Obama was wan Arab was absolutely correct.

Woodstrider

Someone should shove a gun in your ear
because any vote except a vote for McCain is a vote for Obama, socialism, loss of civil liberties, and loss of the torch of the American dream that has been a beacon for the world for over 200 years.

Brian
Brian I think you miss the larger point here.

"So the voter who suggested that Obama was wan Arab was absolutely correct."

Regardless of her being "correct" or not the lady was being a bigot. She didn't say "I don't trust him because he's a socialist" or a lefty or because I don't like his tax policy. She said I don't trust him because of his race. She's a bigot.

***WE AWAIT JUDGE R. BARCLAY SURRICK***
***WE AWAIT JUDGE R. BARCLAY SURRICK***
United States District Court Judge R. Barclay Surrick may be the most important figure in this election. He is the judge who will decide the fate of Philip Berg's lawsuit to compel the Marxist, Comrade Obama, to release his TRUE birth certificate...not the altered "Certificate of Live Birth" that Comrade Obama's fellow travelers like to say is proof of his citizenship.

Mr. Chapman
Considering that the economy is THE biggest issue at this point in the election cycle, and the fact that Democrats are in large part responsible for it's current mess, I would say Mr. McCain has every RIGHT to be angry. Obama has tried very hard to pin the blame on Bush and a lack of regulation. Repeated attempts by Republicans for better oversight and regulations with regards to Fannie/Freddie were IGNORED by the very same people who now claim it's Bush and the Republicans fault. THIS is VERY MUCH the problem with Washington and if Mr. McCain is tired of the lies and finger pointing and angry, GOOD and I hope he CONTINUES to be ANGRY. The American public, who have lost their retirement nest eggs thanks to this DEBACLE will suffer for the actions of MOST of the Democrats. The Democrats recaptured both Houses of the Congress in '06 due to anger over the war in Iraq. That anger motivated voters to flock to the polls and vote out those they saw responsible. Why is that now a bad thing when Republicans are on the right side of the issues? Iraq, which Obama STILL attempts to use is a DEAD ISSUE thanks to the surge HE said wouldn't work but now admits "succeeded beyond expectations". It is the DEMOCRATS who made this election about ANGER, not McCain. It is the DEMOCRATS that are responsible for the economic meltdown, NOT McCain. It is the DEMOCRATS turn to feel voter anger because of it.

Obama being a Muslem
You know what? It doesn't matter to me if Obama is Muslem, that is in doubt. What matters to me is that he is a MARXIST, that is NOT in doubt. Our government and our markets are not tolerant of socialist policies. A simple look at welfare, Social Security, and the Fannie/Freddie is PROOF that these policies do NOT WORK. Obama represents even MORE of these types of domestic policies that will DRAG this country down to third world status. His vague promises of tax cuts will QUICKLY be cancelled when/if he is elected. His promise of creating jobs is a JOKE considering he plans to impose further taxes on the rich and corporations. As anyone with a rudamentary understanding of how this country works knows is that coporations do NOT PAY TAXES. They pass the added costs on to consumers. This causes them to be less competitive in the marketplace so they MOVE OVERSEAS to defray overhead. That causes LOST American jobs, higher prices, and FURTHER consumer hardships. History is on the side of conservatives here as it is liberal policies that have driven off MOST of our former manufacturing jobs. Go into any store and look at where items are manufactured and you'll see what I mean. Personally, I buy ONLY American made products and MOST TIMES I pay extra for them. The saddest part is I have to LOOK much harder to find them because so little is manufactured here now thanks to liberals and their tax and spend policies. SOCIALISM is a FAILED PHILOSOPHY in it's EVERY instance. Socialism is NOT what this country wants to deserves. Obama's race or ethinic origins are IRRELEVANT, his POLITICS are.

Wrestler???
What a crock, John McSame is not even a war hero much less a 'high school wrestler'.

This aristocratic clown went to a very exclusive boys school, very similiar to that other aristocratic clown GW Bush,

You can thank these to and the first clown 'Ronald Reagan' for the misery that the
country is going through,

Welcome to conservative economics, formerly known as reganomic's,

FOUR TRILLION TAXPAYER DOLLARS to bail out the

Wall Street wealthy, republiCON's should be

ashamed.

true tax reform
We the people pay all taxes, and we are the only ultimate source of all tax revenue. Regardless where government initially collects the money, all tax money ultimately comes from us, the people, even though business has to pay thousands or millions of dollars at one time, and get it back from us one dollar at a time.
Since we the people are the one and only source of all tax revenue:
There should be only one tax to collect all tax revenue.
It should be a single, simple, fair, direct, graduated, individual, full-income tax levied on living persons for each level of government: One Tax and Done.
The best thing that government can do to help the country, the people, and even government, is to repeal all of the many hundreds, or thousands of existing taxes, fees, and charges. These taxes are the federal deficit. These taxes are the high price of everything. These tax eliminations are spending cuts. Every tax that is eliminated is a tax that we the people no longer have to pay. These taxes are the difference between the price we pay for health care and everything else, and the price we would pay if these taxes were repealed. Eliminating these taxes will remove them from the price paid for everything by everyone, including government.
One Tax and Done will provide many benefits to all, even government:
One Tax and Done will reduce the price paid for everything by one-third.

Brian #8
Hussein Obama said that he is a muslim on TV and a muslim terrorist in his book. He is both.

Pamela
The Annenberg Foundation has more links to Republicans than democrats. I understand your argument. Since you have been lied to by people trying to portray Obama as some kind of radical, it seems natural to think that the people he worked for must have been similarly radical as well.

But the reality is that the "radical" board that Obama was a member of with Ayres also consisted of republicans and business leaders.

I know that the problem is that if you take an accurate view of what Annenberg is, then it kind of follows that you should take a more accurate view of what Obama is, and what his realtionship to Ayres is, and you don't want to do that. But it would certainly be a shame to hinder the work of the Annenberg foundation simply because people are trying to distort the character of someone who worked for them.

COMMIE CHAPMAN
It is truly amazing how libbys like you in the Obama controlled liberal media, Obama's campaign, and pundits that have continually spewed words of anger against Palin & Mc Cain, are defining Mc Cain as angry. Now that McCain is fighting back with facts and statements that are on record, you a--holes define him as angry! You darn right we want him to be the maverick to tear down the government you democrats have created into a socialist regime. We are angry that your people like Dodds,Frank, Schumer,Rains, Pelosi, Reid have
taken billions of our hard earned money for their own greed to fill their personal coffers. They need to be removed now and with the maverick at the helm this will happen.

You "Obama's a muslim" and not a citizen
people need to listen to Tom. The main problems with Obama are his Marxism, poor choice in associates, zero executive experience and dishonesty.

Those are reasons enough to never vote for him. Arguing over his religion or place of birth at this late date is utterly pointless.

To renny and WDS: Anyone who criticizes McCain must be blogging for BO? McCain is left of almost his entire party - and you expect no one to be displeased about this?

McCain is a statist - his record proves it. Your cherry-picked list tries to hide it, but his record is there for all to see. True, he hasn't voted to raise taxes, but he voted against the Bush cuts that helped a recovery that increased tax revenue.

It was the Republican Hoover who did not understand economics, and tried to use the bully pulpit & power of government to "fix" a market crash that got us into the Great Depression in the first place. Hoover presided over the first three years of the GD. Now obviously FDR made it even worse - that's not the point. Learn the lesson - progressives (liberals) calling themselves Republicans will foul up our country just as much as liberals calling themselves democrats.

Oh - and on the Chrysler bailout - it may have saved Chrysler in the short term, but it was still wrong and unconstitutional. Rewarding poor choices by companies results in more poor choices by companies. Such solutions that help one company in the short term are not worth the long term damage they do to our freedoms and rule of law.

I would not bring up "loss of civil liberties" as a point in support of McCain - his campaign finance reform is the most eggregious attack on the bill of rights in the last 7 years (other than Kelo...).

McCain is a socialist, and I will not vote for him. That makes me a conservative, not an Obama blogger.

Oh, and WDS, you're doing your position no favors by suggesting critical friends jump off a cliff. Proverbs 27:6

Kristine:
It is nice to see a post from someone who deals well with reality. McCain never had any chance whatsoever of winning this election.

Much precious time, and many valuable resources have been wasted on McCain's ill-fated candidacy. Now is the time for all conscientious Americans to come to their senses and vote 3rd party.

That is the only way some value can be wrested from this debacle. My choice is Barr. The rest of you should pick a 3rd party candidate and vote. The most egregious waste of a vote is a vote cast for a loser like McCain.

They just don't get it.
The writer states: "If voters want a president who is angry, McCain may win. If they prefer a president who will remove the causes of their anger, his exhibition of outrage will encourage them to look elsewhere." WRONG, WRONG & WRONG.

I am angry, I want my president to be angry too. McCain is not the red-faced, spittle-flinging maddness of Howard Dean, it is the anger that strengthens resolve to do that which must be done. That which should have been done before now.

Obama would not be the president who would remove the cause of my anger, he and his ilk ARE the cause of my anger. The stench of this Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac/Acorn/Voter Fraud/Homes for Votes/Fill My Campaign War Chest/Special Interest/Greed and Corruption envelopes Mr. Obama so strongly, I can smell it where I sit.

chris:
Great post! (#28)

I wish I had written it.

IF
If McCain looses he has only one person to thank.... King George and His Court! GWB the poster child for Conservative Gov't 8 yrs ago has the worst record on Gov't spending ever in Americas History! GWB Mr Conservative, just pushed through the Biggest Socialist Bill by any one Gov't in the History of Man. Since McCain is a Rep he therefore has the backlash from ole King George! So if John looses he can thank the one and only GWB!

bt reply # 23
(Subject: Wrestler???
What a crock, John McSame is not even a war hero much less a 'high school wrestler'.) YOU are a idiot!!! If it wasn't for MEN like John McCain, you would not have the freedoms to say that remark. If you were my neighbor I would slap you in your face!!!!!
Just because he went to a boys school does not mean they did not have wrestling there. hint dimwit they have wrestling in most schools.
The troubles the country are going through is not because of Reagan, its because of dim wit dems thinking they are intitled... I do not see anywhere put into words that ronald reagan was buttslamming the ceo of a lending company. oh say like buttme frank.
look at the people who got the most money from the so called wallstreet wealthy ummmm dummy, the dems lead the list! so before you come on a republican blog site and start spewing something you don't know about.... better read or better yet go to kos and post there thats the site for retards like you dems.

Someone's getting hosed
I reiterate: Is Chapman being paid to write this horse$#it drivel? If so, he’s ripping off somebody. This column is a litany of quarter-truths, flat-out untruths, and pure fantasies straight from the Democrap party’s daily e-mail blast to reporters. How much effort, after all, does it take to massage the weird rantings of Howard Dean into an opinion column?

TH – demand a refund.

How Angry is John McCain

How angry is John McCain?

Why do many Republican legislators say McCain is unfit to be President?

Watch "Angry McCain" at:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWpV8AbOocU

What!!???
Who let this guy in here? What a bunch of crock and then some!

Right Makes Might:
Which statments are "quater-truths"? Which are "fantasies"?

Chapman seems to have a grasp of the obvious. Where do you disagree?

Mac hasn't been angry enough
NcCain could aim a little righteous anger at the Great O brown-shirt truth squad that mobbed a Chicago radio station because it dared to host someone who was not an O supporter.

Mac good direct a little indignation at ACORN and remind the Big O that he gave this organization $800,000 from his campaign funds, was its lawyer, and now can't remember them and that 1/2 their new registrations are turning out fraudulent (and the rest prob. questionable).

A little anger would go a long way to exposing the MO truth squads of prosecutors and cops oppressing opposition to the Great O who cannot be criticized.

I am myself angry that this Chicago hack with no resume and no accomplishments hijacked the Democratic Party and injected his socialist/marxist cant into a US candidacy and now uses race and strong-arm tacitcs to keep anyone from exposing his radical-terrorist ties.

Those are a few complaints huge numbers of people are angry about.

renny:
Are you equally angry that the left-leaning MSM picked an authoritarian socialist as the Republican nominee?

insighting truth
Get the hell off of this site. Normal people have to put up with enough idiots like you everwhere else. They come here so they can see the truth , which idiots like you are not smart enough to see. Your just another idiot liberal and the fact that people like you even exist makes me angry. You don't get it do you. Normal people don't care if liberals have different opinions on issues. What bothers us most is the incredible arrogance and conceit. I have never seen a liberal who has admitted they ever made a mistake, or one who would even give someone else credit for anything that worked out positively. So go be with your conceited friends where you belong moron.

chris
Not only is Steve Chapman not a “critical friend,” he is no friend at all. He called Governor Palin a bigot just last week. His sole proof for this accusation was his own Edgar Bergen – Charlie McCarthy act.

“To renny and WDS: Anyone who criticizes McCain must be blogging for BO? McCain is left of almost his entire party - and you expect no one to be displeased about this?”

You should be more careful of what you write for you too are doing an Edgar Bergen – Charlie McCarthy act.

You are entirely mistaken in assuming that I may believe that anyone who is critical of McCain is in the tank for Obama. I directed my remarks directly to Chapman and no-one else and am basing them on many columns that I have read over the last two months. He has shown no balance or fairness and has been almost singularly critical of only one ticket.

I know exactly what Senator McCain is and isn’t. I have been very blistering in my criticism of him here at TH and am in no way a fan of his. I will not continually restate my views on him. Research the archives if you want to learn more.

In any case, regardless of my opinions about McCain, I will never do one single thing to assist in the elevation of the Marxist Obama to the White House.

No matter how one slices it, these non-stop attacks, at this point in the campaign, only have the practical effect of elevating Obama.

I stand by my previous post.

r729:
If you assume I am liberal because I oppose McCain, you are 50% of the way to proving the old maxim about those who assume. You only make it half way because your ignorance does not actually affect "me" in any way.

If you assume I am liberal because I oppose McCain, you are 50% of the way to proving the old maxim about those who assume. You only make it half way because your ignorance does not actually affect "me" in any way.

Sorry...
...about the double post. This seems to happen whenever the TH site is particularly busy.

WAY down south, I went back and read
your original post. Looks like I improperly lumped you in with renny. Sorry about that.

renny was the one who wrote - presumably about people like me criticizing McCain from the right - "Maybe you're all kids (but I think they are blogging for O)".

r729 you seem bitter
still clinging to your guns and religion?

"insighting truth" has it right. McCain doesn't represent conservative values. Others in this very thread have expressed the same sentiment, I suggest you try and understand where they are coming from instead of just spouting off and dismissing their positions as librul morans...

Quit blaming McCains failure on everything else but the simple fact that the majority of America doesnt want the republican win this election. GWB screwed you guys. Use this as an opportunity to get back to making the Republican Brand attractive.

McCain and GWB are not the future of the party. Hell I don't think Palin is for that matter, but someone somewhere needs to figure out how to bail out this sinking ship and get people back on the GOP bandwagon. The quicker you guys figure this out the quicker you all will be competitive in this countries political future.

Ultra Conservatives Vs. John McCain

Steve Chapman's controversial columns to the contrary, fact is, if John McCain loses it will have been because of the considerable ammunition provided last January by Ultra Conservatives who tried their best to destroy McCain's candidacy.

Though Ultra Conservatives may now minimize as "primary patter," their brutal criticism of John McCain nine months ago could well reverberate come Election Day 2008. As a reminder:

HUGH HEWITT last January referred to John McCain as "an ancient mariner" who, at 71, was TOO OLD to be elected President.

And the same Hugh Hewitt called John McCain a "lousy Senator" and "terrible Republican."

Town Hall's ANN COULTER accused McCain of "lying all the time."

The RIGHT WING NEWS, on May 23, 2008 had this vitriolic evaluation: "Put very simply: John McCain is a liar. He's a man without honor, without inegrity."

Town Hall columnist MONA CHAREN wrote that John McCain has an explosive "nitroglycerin temper."

Probably the most damaging assessment came from Ultra conservative RONALD KESSLER of Newsmax whose article demonizing John McCain was reprinted last January 29 on the Ultra Conservtive Free Republic website, with the following blistering headlines:

"MCCAIN PRESIDENCY WOULD BE A DISASTER"
"MENTALLY UNSTABLE AND NOT FIT TO BE PRESIDENT."

nmi:
What is the point of your 1:29 PM post?

Each and every one of the criticisms you site are demonstrably true. McCain is a low grade man. Do you take issue with those who tell the truth?

InsightingTruth
Thanks for asking. A handful of examples come to mind immediately.

The quarter-truth: Americans are angry, and John McCain is making them that way. It’s an assertion that contains just enough truth to make it ripe for distortion. We ARE angry. Mostly, we’re angry at McCain for not using the ammunition he has at hand to nuke the ObamaNation campaign. There’s a lot of impatience with this goof, precisely because of his stubborn insistence on running a gentlemanly campaign against, frankly, hoodlums.

The flat untruth: The claim that the McCain campaign is making an issue of ObamaNation’s religion. In fact, we’re pretty upset that McCain is NOT doing exactly that. I don’t mean the Islam bogeyman, either. I’m talking about accepting spiritual guidance for twenty years from the unconscionable racist Jeremiah Wright. McCain has declared Wright off limits. In God’s name (pardon the expression), why?

The flight of fantasy: McCain reacts harshly to being called a liar by, of all people, Barack Obama. Chapman takes the opportunity to find fault with, not ObamaNation for hurling an unfounded personal smear, but McCain, for objecting to it.

Chapman’s drawn a portrait of McCain that is 180 degrees opposite of reality. You don’t get someone that wrong by accident. That’s why, if he’s being paid for this tripe, it’s robbery.

I always get a sense of satisfaction when people like yourself write the kinds of things you write on TH, it means that I don't have to make a case that TH conservatives are limited, hate-saturated, myopic, injustice-collecting babies who have nothing better to do with their empty lives than sit in front of their computers all day long to write posts such as yours.

Darn right we are angry
There is a lot of anger to be spread around, but mostly it is directed at the Lame Stream Media for once again trying to shove their ultra-liberal socialistic candidate down our throats. I am incredibly angry about that.

However, I am PASSIONATE about keeping America in tact with her traditional values and morals. The rule of law and the Constitution are two of the things that I am most passionate about.

I am also passionately opposed to an Obama administration, so yes, I hope that John McCain keeps up the anger and then moves in for the re-taking of this election from the Lame Stream Media and the Cheerleading Courts for Oblama.

McCain Unleashes Racism and Anger

I prefer the title, “Archaic-Con.”

If understood your post properly, you are stating that,

If during the primary season, a person supports a particular candidate and also points out their candidate’s opponent’s serious flaws, said person is then responsible if the more flawed candidate is defeated in the general election.

Did I sum up your position correctly?

The “ammunition” currently being used has long been known to everyone including the Democrats and the media propagandists. Back at the beginning of the year I forewarned that the media would coddle McCain during the primaries and save their savage attacks for the general election.

Do you really think the Marxists and idiots in the press and Democratic National Committee depend on or in any way need Ann Coulter’s Cliff Notes?

The people that are responsible are those that voted for McCain in the primaries and those such as ex-Wyomingite who pushed his candidacy hard here at TH. If you personally fall into either or both of those two groups, it is your own damn fault.

Your thesis is pure nonsense.

Palin Problems...ethics
_She pummeled opponents for giving oil companies and other businesses too much control of state government. Yet she appointed the founder of an engineering firm that received $6.8 million in state business as head of the transportation department.

_She has accepted dozens of gifts worth tens of thousands of dollars since taking office, including two free trips last year that she failed to report on disclosure forms, despite criticizing state legislators for the gifts they take.

_She is under another investigation, accused of misusing her office to campaign against a voter referendum calling for tighter mining regulations. Her husband, Todd, has accepted free trips from a mining company to look at their proposed new site.

_Another ethics complaint, unresolved, accuses her staff of finding a state job for a friend and campaign contributor.

"Kill Him" Shouted Again At McCain Rally

"Kill him" shouted again at McCain rally on Tuesday.

You angry McCain supporters desperately need to attend anger management classes and get some medications -- along with your leader, John McCain.

Read the Scranton (PA) Times newspaper story on the latest Tuesday outburst at:

John,
How do we know that such individuals are not Daily-Kos/Obama plants who are there to disrupt and discredit?

That is a classic Marxist tactic and your subversive candidate is well schooled in such chicanery.

BTW How are the illegal voter registrations going? Are you Obama drones really so afraid that you can’t win through legal votes only?

Anger on the right!
Why isn't this election about one thing only!

The character and judgement of the candidates!

Every Republican ad should feature BO and his "mentors" of over 20 Rev oh so Wrong and Father Phlem, his friendship and chummy relationship with bomber Ayers, his shady dealings with Rezko, his membership in a black lib church with its blacks are captives in an America out to kill and/or imprison them as a basic tenent, his slavish devotion to the teachers unions who have given us the DC school failures, his mocking of Americans for being religious and owning guns.

In short BO and his sorry record of complete failure in judgement should be the only topic.

BO will of course point to being against the Iraq war as his big accomplishment, but he stole that idea from his pastor the Rev oh so Wrong who included that thought in one of his God D@@m the USofKKK rants. Every other BO war plan would have been a complete failure. He said without reservation that Gen Ptreaus was a fool in the pocket of the evil W whose surge plan would result in defeat and higher casualties!

Of course a lib never has to say he was wrong only that any talk about such things is now a "distraction." The right is angry that McCain lets him get away with it!

Bad judgement and not a shred of character that is BO. Only a moral degenerate would make a moral comparison of Rev Wright's racist rants with his own grandma comments that she was afraid of an aggresive black panhandler.

Unfortunately McCain will not stand up and speak the truth about BO. Is there any wonder that the right is angry?

The truth hurts...
I assembled a damaging 1961-2008 "Obama Timeline" at: http://colony14.net/id41.html

Needless to say, I'm getting tremendous "hate e-mails" from leftists. They are all complaining and hurling insults, but NONE has refuted the facts as I presented them. I wonder why...

Telling the truth is NOT negative advertising or negative campaigning, it is merely revealing facts that the opponent and the media are choosing to hide. Needless to say, if McCain doesn't get tougher in the next two weeks, he will lose the election. If he loses, America loses.
