Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

John McCain wants Americans to elect him to provide tough leadership in a dangerous world. But when it just takes some mud slung from a few left-wing websites to drive him under a rock, you have to wonder.

I'm talking about the pastor eruptions involving John Hagee and Rod Parsley.

Columnist Robert Novak wrote this week: "While the McCain campaign feels it has secured the party's conservative base, we feel that is not the case ... The McCain problem here is that he does not recognize that he has a problem."

If you doubt that McCain does indeed have a problem, just look at the Intrade.com contracts. These are futures contracts in which private investors can purchase "bets" on political contests.

The value of a contract at any point in time reflects the market's probability assessment of the outcome of that contest. A contract trading 70 cents on the dollar on Candidate A means that the market is giving Candidate A that same 70 percent chance of winning.

Because the volume of trading is large and individuals are putting up their own cash, these contracts are proving to be more accurate predictors than polls. They predicted the outcome of every Senate race in 2006 and called 49 out of 50 states correctly in the 2004 presidential election.

As of this writing, Intrade.com contracts are showing a 58 percent chance of Obama winning the presidency and a 38 percent chance of a McCain victory.

I'd say that McCain has got problems. What are they?

There's a long list. But one big one, in my view, is Novak's observation that McCain's conservative base is mush. I'd qualify this to say his evangelical Christian base, 78 percent that supported President Bush in 2004.

Was it accidental that the same day McCain disassociated himself from John Hagee, a point and a half was shaved off his Intrade.com contract?

The flak about John Hagee comes from a sermon the pastor gave years ago, recently aired on some left wing websites, including the widely read Huffington Post. In the sermon, Pastor Hagee interprets Hitler as the "hunter," in the language of a prophecy of Jeremiah that drove the Jews back to Israel.

No sooner had the left wing blogosphere entered orgiastic ecstasy with the discovery of what, for them, was inflammatory and damning material against Hagee, than John McCain's hands went up in surrender. He said he was not aware of the sermon when he accepted Hagee's endorsement and now says "No, thank you, you can have it back, sir."

Pastor Hagee has been a stalwart supporter of Israel and, through his Christians United for Israel, has raised millions in humanitarian aid for the Jewish state. He was invited to speak to the 2007 annual meeting of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the nation's largest group of Americans supporting and lobbying on behalf of Israel.

Last year, Sen. Joseph Lieberman, our only Orthodox Jewish senator, spoke to Hagee's group. He called John Hagee "a man of God" and said, like Abraham, Pastor Hagee, "will be blessed because he has blessed Israel."

Now McCain has also politely returned Pastor Rod Parsley's endorsement. He's offended that Parsley called Islam "an anti-Christ religion that intends through violence to conquer the world."

Now, there appears no shortage of talk from religious leaders in the Muslim world that says exactly this. Frankly, I don't hear a lot from Muslim leaders rejecting it. And, who exactly is it we're worried about in the half hour security lines that we wait in at the airport?

Look, Israel just celebrated its 60th anniversary. There are some 14 million Jews in the world. There are 1.8 billion Muslims. There is one Jewish state and 27 countries with more than 90 percent Muslim population. Yet, the Muslim world has not given the tiny, solitary Jewish state a day of peace.

John McCain says he's a Reagan Republican. In a 1985 interview with Pat Robertson, then President Reagan said, "I am convinced this is a nation under God. And as long as we recognize that and believe that, I think He'll help us."

I wonder if John McCain believes it? I wonder if John McCain really wants to be president?

Put a fork in Mc Cain he's done
Dumping his Pastor problems, immigration, global warming,McCain-Fiengold all things conservatives hate. Now with Bob Barr stealing votes and all those Clinton supporters mad at Obama wait till they find out McCain is anti-choice on abortion. Too bad he might make a good president.

spewage
Yeah - I heard both Parsley and Hagee calling for the death of everyone that disagrees with them on broadcasts within the past two months.

Very Good Ms. Parker

And the 'stupid' party representative heroically pulls another loss out the LOSE BIG TIME waste basket.

Or should it be 'dust bin'?

Is this candidate even American any more?

Sorry Juan. You show confusion - we are confused.

Media Hypocritical on McCain
I have had to search to find comments from this man, but I had to almost turn my radio and Tv off for the media would not me get away from hearing and seeing Rev. Wright.

chris
I have almost stopped commenting here but I had to respond to Chris. Chris; you are a liar. No way you heard both of them "calling for the death of everyone that disagrees with them". That doesn't even pass the stupid test.

I have serious theological issues with both Hagee and Parsley but I know that Chris did not hear both of them calling for the death of everyone that disagrees with them. Too stupid for words.

Chris, stop writing, you're an idiot.

Chris
You are either joking or you are a liar.

Okay! Alright! Who's Running?
People! People! People! My question is who's running for President of these United States? Is it the Reverends or the Candidates? I'm having a real hard time distinguishing between Barry Obama's arse and Jeremiah Wright's lips, the same goes for John McCain and his boy toy John Hagee, for some strange bedfellows reason these suckers are proverbially joined at the hip. Whatever happened to separation of Church and State?

Stealing Votes?
Barr will not be stealing votes from McCain. Those of us who will be voting for Barr were NEVER going to vote for McCain. Some were going to skip the Presidential part of the election, and some weren't even going to show up at the polls.

Oh, and while we're listing McCain's problems, don't forget the "Gang of 14".

Black Liberation Theology is the problem
Obama's problem is that believes in a ideolgy that worships a god of black people that demonizes whites. Its hate pure and simple.

The Obama's problem is THEIR hatred for white people expressed in their adherence for 20 years to black liberation theolgy. This is a theolgy that is steeped in anti-white racism, anti-American, Marxist philosophy.

This is much deeper than a so called "pastor problem".

wolfpat
I watched the Libertarian Party Convention, complete with the debate. If I had ever previously considered Barr, it ended there.

MCAMNESTY AND FALWELL VERSUS THE JEWS
Remember that at the beginning of his campaign, McAmnesty ACTIVELY SOUGHT and RECEIVED the endorsement of the late Jerry Falwell, infamous before that for his statement: "God does not hear the prayers of a Jew." Right about the time of that endorsement, I heard Falwell on the Michael Savage show say: "Jews do not go to heaven." How about some investigation of that matter? I want to know what McAmnesty promised to these political Pharisees on the road to South Carolina. McPharisee!

hagee
i really dont know what hagee has to do to convince you that he is 100 percent anti-semite. perhaps he could tie three or four jews together and a couple of catholics as well and personally throw them in a gas chamber. then again finding a gas chamber big enough for a reasonable price is a difficult thing to do these days. it was much simpler in 1944. and there is the price of gas.

McCain problems
Probably, McCain is going to be remembered as one of the most damaging candidates to his own Party since we are a nation.

But, he is not the one to blamed for, if we go to the root of the problem we find that the problem's ownership resides in the Republican Party.

The Republican Party leadership orchestrated the whole thing and they are the one that should pay for the damage they have inflicted to our Party and to the nation.

The Republican Party leaders are the ones we have to held responsible for the debacle coming.

To be wiped out by a very weak candidate like Obama is a total disgrace.

The only thing that may save the Republican Party from ignominious defeat is something as big as war with Iran or something else of equal magnitude.

I hope that is not the main reason we do it (if we do it).

Now in regards to pastors Hagee and Parsley, we have to agree with columnist.

Parsley position is totally Biblical and cannot be shot down on that account and his trajectory as a big Israel supported is acknowledged by the Jewish people where he has consistently received praise from them.

In regards to Hagee's position, his position in regards to Rome has always been the same for decades and we cannot believe McCain's surprise unless we choose to say he is a willful ignorant (hypocrite).

These are sad times for conservative people in the Republican Party which watch in horror their coming destruction being totally powerless to avoid it.

Conservative Pastors are Citizens too
So, right-wing pastors are no better than crazy, muslim clerics Robert? Spoken like a typical Indiana liberal. Second, as private citizens these men have every right to endorse whoever they want. And the reason they do is because of liberal scum such as yourself who are doing everything in their power to destroy Christianity in this country.

pastors are human
so conservative pastors are human too? im not to sure if the question of their being human has been decided yet. one thing at a time.. well find a biblical reference supporting ourpoint of view soon no matter what that point of view happens to be.

Pastor Problems
John McCain had to reject Parsley's and Hagee's endorsements. If he hadn't then that's all the MSM would talk about for months because they have to take the heat off Obama for Wright. The MSM would make it seem that John McCain seeking and being endorsed by these pastors as the same thing as Obama sitting in Wright's church for 20 yrs. McCain was stuck in a bad position no matter what he did. If he didn't reject them then the MSM would bring it up to use against McCain EVERY time Wright was mentioned. Not every voter is as informed as some of us and they get their news from the MSM. All they would hear is that McCain has the same pastor problems as Obama but the MSM would leave out how different the comparisons are. I just love it when liberals get on here and spew their junk about how bad Hagee or Parsley are but in the same breath would defend the hate filth that comes from Rev. Wright.

Quit listening to the media
All this gossip about the pastors when you know darn well the media can only report what they are told. In other words the media elects the president. The government and media has been corrupt for years and will remain corrupt--read the bible before shooting off mouth.

mrbmrb
Now it is apparent that your posts are better when they are indeciperable. Your 6:52 AM (EST) post is, quite simply, a lie couched in disgusting terms. I will neither read nor respond to your nonsense any further.

We need a Godly President
to uphold the constitution and get rid of the Fed Judges that think they are God. The only Godly man I see running is Alan Keyes.
This election is a wake call if the democrazies get in we are going to die homeless & hungry. Obama says if politics don't work out he will side with the Muslims. Michelle says we have too much American Pie and have to share, Duh wake up. I think we know when we can share our pie more than she does.

Guilt By Association
THe Right had it coming to them. When the Rev. Wright story broke Rush was all over it and so was Hannity. You can't tune the dial on talk radio or read a post or two before his name gets involked. But when it comes to Hagee its a consiracy of the Left.

News oraganizations get this leads from opposition research operations run by the candidates, the parties and their sympathizers. In most cases they present a snapshop view of the associated person. Audio is batter than the written word, video is golden.

Talk Radio of course has an agenda, so does the huffington post and other left wing bloggers so they cover one story but gloass over the other. The mainstream media will take it from whereever it comes as longs as it brings them eyeballs or ears.

Candidates are placed between a rock and a hard play in that they need to solodify their base and at the same time reach out to swing voters.

they all suck
Who gives a hang about pastors?? Obama is a freakin C.O.M.M.I.E. and they all fall in line on the global SCAM! So when McClame came out in favor of cap and trade.... That was it for me and i'm sure many other conservatives! Unless he comes up with one GREAT v.p. he's toast and they dummies will get what they want. This will be the first election based on a choice of vice president.

Thank you Star
Parker does an excellent job of pointing out that McCain is no Reagan conservative and that he's no evanglical conservative either.

What does that leave? A butt-kissing, poll-following weenie who has declared legitimate attacks against against Obama off-limits to all Republicans. It's no surprise that the author of McCain-Feingold would presume to unilaterally suspend the First Amendment, but McCain's own campaign ran lying negative ads against Mitt Romney regarding Romney's position on mandatory troop withdrawal dates from Iraq.

McCain is not a leader. He is a vindictive poll watcher who has never forgiven conservatives and evanglicals for South Carolina in 2000 and cares only about becoming President. He is the Republican Bill Clinton.

He doesn't understand that renouncing endorsements is a two-way street. He rejects endorsement of evanglical conservatives, and conservatives reject him.

The only thin Parker gets wrong is her characterization of the base. The conservative base is not mush. McCain is mush.

to bsq from Texas in #6
I was just trying to make a point in response to Robert's post #2 about christian pastors being as bad as the radical Muslim clerics who actually do call for the deaths of those who disagree with them - even other Muslims who disagree on the fine points.

Hagee and Parsley have not called for the death of anyone, and the claim of moral equivalence between the encouragement of people to live right (even if you disagree with their doctrine - or even that God exists) and encouraging people to kill other people is absurd.

to Steve in PA
Yes, Steve, you are absolutely "wright". All I know is we, the citizens of the USA, do not pick our president anymore. We just think we do. Orwells 1984 just came a few years later. On second thought, it's been here since the 1960 elections. Bleating sheep, we are. Manipulated by the press and those fellows in smoke filled rooms.

McCain needs to wake up.
McCain can win this election if he would just come up with a strong vision for this country and stick with it. Star Parker has done him a huge favor by trying to remind him that he needs to show more conviction in the face of controversy and quit trying to please everyone. He needs to give his supporters something to rally around, and so far he's done the opposite. It never ceases to amaze me how pols like McCain can have such a blind spot when it comes to demonstrating their seriousness about wanting to be the person to lead this nation for as its president. Hopefully, McCain will smell the coffee and get his campaign on back on track - fast.

chris.....
Hagee and Parsley have spiritually killed anyone who listens to that tripe and fall for it. Parsley is such a money-grubbing con-man it is all too obvious ($10,000 for 3 'anointed prayer rags' to heal someone yuo know is sick...)and Hagee - that fat, gluttunous hypocrite divorced his first wife after falling in lust with Ramone (?) Castro yet has the balls to criticize those who divorce or have sex outside of their ordained marriage.

Neither have a biblically correct doctrine yet their sheeple keep listening to their crap, goring more hatred toward others and shoveling them their hard earned money under the false doctrine of tighing.

McCain-= people pleaser
It's not at all surprising that McCain acts like this. He's a people pleaser. He buys the liberal line about being "nice". It's bogus, but it accurately reflects his voting record and his initiatives. Instead of saying Senator Kennedy is his friend, he claims he's the most effective Senator. Big difference. But that's the nature of "go along to get along RINO-ISM".
To compare Rev. Wright to this issue with Hagee and Parsley is bogus. But bogus is the name of the game.

Marine 43....AMEN
PROBABLY FOR THE FIRST TIME V.P. WILL BE REAL IMPORTANT...MAYBE?! YES! NO! MAYBE!COO-COO-COO!
IS THIS ELECTION BAD OR WHAT?!

Obama vs McCain Pastor problems
Let me say there is a HUGE difference between McCain's "pastor" who is endorsing him for President vs Obama/Rev Wright. Hagee is endorsing John McCain vs a radical, outspoken liberal as is Rev Wright. John McCain didn't spend 20 years sitting in a church listening to a pastor, who is bigot, arrogant who clearly wants to hurt America.

John McCain 's Pastor 'Problem'?
Every time I tell myself John McCain is my choice in the fall,he pulls another boner. He,evidently thinks we conservatives are lemmings just like Obama's followers.

It would have been better(for me),if he never asked for any special group's support, but to take an endorsement, then crush it under his boot,is too much.Rank hypocricy, too.

He thinks he can play it down the middle and we will fall in line behind him with the liberals and moderates he has courted for years. If you think you don't need the conservative base,Sen.McCain, think again.

As for the pastors he has denounced;big mistake, sir.I am not one of their flock, but many are and many believe their words. As I stated on another thread, yesterday. You may not agree with anything these pastors have said, but it Biblical!! Look it up.

Most of the detractors,I venture to say, do not know the Bible,do not attend church, have no religious affilation,so they have no right to testify as to the validity of anything Biblical.

Now,I know why McCain denounced these pastors. He cannot stand up to the critical left-wing news media, who is leading this chorus. If his spine is not strong enough to withstand their criticism, how can he govern?

mrbmrb
Haggee is in no way, shape, or form an anti-semite. He is well known for his bold support of Israel and Jews the world over. In fact, that same support is the very reason he gets into trouble with the palastinian sympathizing left and MSM.

He does believe Cathlicism is a heretical sect due to their prayers to Saints and dietizing a Pope. A lot of people believe that. Though they are NOT persecuted for doing so.

Question: Why don't you get equally up in arms when Islamists say even worse? Why don't ANY lefties for that matter? In fact, you folk's DEFEND that religion. The only religion in the world that preaches death to Jews and all non believers. The questions were rhetorical as we all know the answers to each...you're scared witless.

Robert
Meaning no ill will,Robert, but paragraph #5 in my post applies to you.

McCain is pulling the dead weight
of the Party and last year's strategy. The current Administration has betrayed and manipulated Evangelicals for too many years, and that's why the base is wary. McCain has done nothing to restore faith, but the Congressional races show he's just a symptom, not the problem. Americans of faith don't care about the pastor-flap. It's the hypocrites and dead soul pols who are tanking the Party, and McCain has my sympathy for trying to run with these leeches on his back.

Robert
....and Robert, how can you speak for most Americans?

Robert
Condescension is your name.I am not the 'he'who said 'he' watches only Fox News, though I do watch it.Knowledge also comes from experience, which I have over you in spades.

I expected that for once in my times of engaging you, that you could be civil, especially on this meloncholy Memorial Day for me.I was wrong again.

You have a good day and antagonize someone else.I've had my fill.

Sauce for the goose....
So now it's clear what the conservative spin is on the Rev. Hagee--he's a great conservative Christian and friend of Israel. His unspeakably disgusting utterances on Hitler the "hunter" and the divine mission accomplished by the Holocaust, in forcing the Jews to return to Israel are just strongly biblical utterances in the language of prophecy. Whoa! That is so much like leftists who apologized for Rev. Wright. I wonder how Ms.Parker handles this obvious similarity. Probably by denial. Hey, it works for Hholocaust revisionists so clearly it's a good strategy.

Of course Rev. Hageee is a friend of Israel only to the extent that Israel has to be in place for the big event of the Apocalypse and Second Coming. So, the end of the world is the event that makes it possible for Rev. hagee to be a friend of Israel. For we liberals this whole way of thinking is so bizarre as to make us doubt the sanity of anyone who holds it. Ms. Parker evidently shares the madness. And now TH readers are saying that unless John McCain buys into this, he's not fit to be president and can't get elected.

This election has become even more important now than before. The Rrepublican base consists, as we liberals have said for years, of religious fantatics. I hope John McCain reconsiders and embraces Rev.Hagee and his hateful Christianity. The dividing line is now between Republicans and common sense, and you folks are on the wrong side.

Special interest groups and pandering..
If the Republicans and Democrats have only the current crop of candidates to offer America; America is in deep trouble. The Republicans, Democrats and main-stream-media (MSM) are just thrilled with these power-seekers; however, the average American is not.

Both Dole and McCain are true war heroes who are genuine patriots; however, our political system is surely not patriotic. It has become a corrupted, self-serving, etc., etc. unpatriotic system that must be changed (reformed). Else, America will continue its slow and painful decline into oblivion.

For those who still don’t understand why so many Americans have become disgusted with the politics of today, they need look no further than the current primary campaigns. Our political system itself is now so corrupted from special interest groups and pandering to political correctness that it may never recover. This is wrong and if not corrected, will continue to cause this divided country much pain and divisions in the future. Our forefathers never wanted nor envisioned the political nonsense of today; nor of America becoming a nanny-state.

This political season is very disturbing; I do not like any of the Republican or Democrat presidential candidates. This election will go down to the wire, with each one of us having to choose between the lesser of two evils. But, to cast the most informed vote in the most important election in our lifetimes, it is essential that we know and fully understand the positives and negatives of each candidate. Your vote does count and you should be voting for the candidate that best reflects your views of what makes this country great and so unique. Just remember that this uniqueness is truly a reflection of its people and what they believe in.

kerijay et al....

You are right when you say the only godly (and patriotic) candidate is Alan Keyes. To bad he isn't even considered. Yes, I know he sounds like a black southern preacher, but so what.

The man has bolas and cares deeply about the country. I would vote for him in a split second and he is BLACK for those of you who think we are racists, very black, not half black and very American, not half American.

Phooey (or worse) on Obama bin Laden Hussein.

The rest of us do not deserve what the stupids are voting for although some of his crowd are leftist communist liberal anti-American good for nothings. The rest are just plain STUPID.

Voting 4 Juan or either Osama or Butch?
Give me a break, please Star. If any traditional fiscal conservative, or contemporary Jeffersonian, has honor... he will not vote for Barack, Hillary... or Juan McCain. The three of them are politically correct liberals. The three of them are in unison in permitting the Mexican invasion coming across our Southern border.

I'll vote Third Party. As it stands now the Libertarian Party will be on the ballot in 48 states and perhaps all 50. Ron Paul won't be on the November ballot, but Bob Barr will be. Barr's the candidate who'll likely get my vote this Fall. And speaking of "honor"....

The Major General (Hammond?) who came out and kissed the Koran to beg forgiveness for an Army sniper shooting a Koran book... that damn general is totally WITHOUT honor. He should be drummed out of the military. And if President Jorge Bush ordered the general to grovel before Islam, then Shrub should be impeached from the presidency forthwith. And something else...

The frightening thing is McCain, Obama and Hillary, all three of these politically correct candidates, would be in favor of our generals kissing the arse of Islam.

gahotdog
You might want to check Barr's history.ACLU,multiple marriages, loss of his last election,etc.....I'm just sayin'...

reply to Rowly
Ohmigod! You mean Barr is like so many other Americans...multiple marriages?...what next? Does he kick his dog and drink too much? There's just go to be a moral screening committee somewhere at the national level in the Republican party to make sure that only the morally pure get to be candidates. At least that would narrow our choices even more at primary time.

Gestell
You take it to the limit, don't you? Frankly I couldn't care less who anyone votes for.I just don't think I would vote for him.He does have a past. That's all I'm saying. That past is part of the man.

Apollo Speaks
But the left side of the Brain controls the Right Side of the Body so His cancer could be a sign that he betrayed the left by cooperating with the President on Matters like NCLB and a guest worker program.

The low president's low approval rating is god way of punishing the Republican Party for no looking out for the poor and getting us into a war based up distorted intelligence.

Protesting pastors
Rev. Hagee is a protestant who is extremely biased against Catholics. His remarks against the Catholic Church speak for themselves!
I fervently pray for all the "protesters" who attack and knock their very basis. These anti-Catholic biggots don't get it that without the Catholic Church and it's faithful obedience to their Master, our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ, and continually under the guidance of th HOLY SPIRIT they wouldn't even know to believe in Jesus and His FULL gospel message. It is only through prideful disobedience that these mis-guided, disingenuous "preachers" and their "blind" followers are able to beat the Catholic Church on the Head by using the Catholic Church's own heirloom, the Bible. How sadly pathetic!

And...
A case in point: Jesus, Himself, gave us, all Christians who will accept, His Flesh and Blood to eat! His great miracle for us. And yet who rejected this Sacrament? you guessed it - the protesters! Read John, Chapter 6 and see if the "well meaning"? protesters and shouters of lord, lord are not truly (tragically) missing the crux of Christianity - the Real Presence of our Lord and Savior, JESUS the Christ, in the Eucharistic Meal given to us all by, none other than, Jesus Himself!

Then again..
I pray that all protesting pastors and their following will, one day soon, come into the fullness of the Faith of our fathers. If they persist in saying: we don't believe in the Catholic Eucharist there is a BIG question they have to answer (after praying to the Holy Spirit). That three part question is this: a)why don't you believe in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist?; b) when did you stop believing it?; and on who's authority do you chose to NOT BELIEVE?

And finally....
Star, I pray that you, one day, will come fully HOME to the Church that Jesus started and that Church which the Holy Spirit continues to guide even til the end of the world!!! I have no doubt of your great love for Jesus! Now what remains is for you to recieve Him, Sacramentally, properly disposed, as He intended for us all at His Banquet table.

May God restore the unity in Christianity that existed before the fifteenth century. That we all may be ONE BODY, in Christ.

Da Pastors
i agree with Robert....chuck the religious endorsements....and McCain needs to learn we prefer a good fight

McCain & Pastors
I attend Pastor Parsley's church regularly.Mc Cain went seaching for votes there because his advisors told him to.Its interesting that the Libs have protested about Pastor Parsley's remarks more than Muslim leaders themselves...Hmmmm.Mc Cain and the 2008 GOP are really biting the hand that has kept them in the White House so many years. Its sad.By the way,Rod Parsley withdrew his endorsement,of McCain on May 24.Good.....

returning home
The Roman:
I don't know about Star, but I'll consider returning home to the Catholic Church when:

1. They stop calling Priests "Father" (Matt 23:9).

2. They stop putting clergy between me and God (1Tim 2:5).

3. They not only allow, but encourage clergy to marry and have a family so we'll know how they'll do with God's flock (1Tim 3:2-5).

4. Admit that, while she was a godly woman, that Jesus' mother was sinful like the rest of us mortals (Rom 3:10-23).

re: texaschuck
Star has it right on this issue, and texaschuck summarizes McCain's failures - he's wrong even if he believes in what he's going to do!

I for one will not be voting for this "maverick" politician!

brownbear95

chris...excellent
Analysis...I never belonged to return to the catholic church. But you have done your homework

Chris' Stupidity
I sure am glad that we have such a liberal readership. However, it is apparent that not much has reached the brain. It is quite obvious that you suffer from a major case of Anal Cranial Submersion.

Really don't care if you choose to rejoin any church. That is between you and your faith if you have any.

The real problem as pointed out in this article is that McCain is just plain and simple a very poor candidate. When an empty suit like Obama can even be close to a legitimate candidate we as a nation are in real trouble. Lets face it John McCain is just the candidate that keeps on giving.

John Mccain
is an imposter--just like Obama. Vote Alan Keyes.

chris
how 'bout repeating scripture word for word and try to disregard how it contradicts itself with other religions? Eat my body. Drink my blood. THAT is precisely what us Catholics DO believe. And NO it is not cannibalism. Yet, other religions pick and choose and pick and choose and pick and choose. You wouldn't even have a bible if it weren't for Catholics. EVERYONE broke off from the one, holy, catholic, apostolic church. Scripture along with the handing down of oral tradition is truth. The Blessed Mother was "conceived without sin." Get a clue about reality and truth, please, or at least learn to develop an informed conscience. That is not the same as "opinion" which so many churches adhere to.

McCain's Pastor Problem
I think it's a sad day in American politics that a candidate doesn't have the guts to speak out against our enemy, Islam. This election may just spell the end of the Republican Party as a viable political force.

For Chris....
You are still a Catholic, Chris......you're just a bad one! Pray to the Holy Spirit for enlightenment! You sure aren't willing to accept the TRUTH from anyone else. Regarding the four points you make for your return home you will have to take that up with God! He is the only ONE that can straighten around your twisted thinking! Your battle is with HIM, first!!!! THIS IS MY PRAYER FOR YOU: MGBYABYHS.

STAR JUST ADMIT IT YOU ARE FOR OBAMA
Star just admit that you are a Conservative
Black Obama person. Quit taking shots at McCain just admit your Blood Line has overtaken you. I do not fault you for this I do fault you for the excuses you are using.

Chris get a life and study the Church Fathers if you want to hear the truth. Do not make up your beliefs along with you Baptist friends.

This trivial commentary/
No, McCain does not have a Pastor Problem. He did not sit in the churches of these particular preachers, as did OSAMA HUSSEIN OBAMA. The Rev. Wright, a Liberation Theology Preacher, was Obama's so-called spiritual advisor for over twent years. Obama, who was raised a Muslim and attended Catholic Liberation Theology grade schools, tries to dissociate himself from his preacher, and his own past, but he is still a product of his early training as a Muslim and his current day Liberation Theology pastor, The Good Rev. Wright. Liberation theology that black pastors like Wright have been espousing for the past 40 years or so is nothing new. The Catholics in Central and South America preach it too, and it is strictly out of Marx's handbook, the Communist Manifesto. The radical Islam teachings and the Liberation Theology Doctrines, preach the exact same thing. "You are a Victim of the Evil White Man who Represents that Evil White Empire called the United States, the Great Satan." Do you want a president to represent this great nation who has been taught since his youth and has been being prepared to run for President ever since, to lead this country into the arms of Islamic terrorists who hate us and have vowed to destroy us. Better wake up America, and get off this Obama bandwagon, before it is too late. You will not be spared just because you voted for the Ayatollah Obama. He hates you and your lifestyle too. Better start thinking and voting with the rational part of your brain and not the emotional one.

You are wrong about Star. She is no Obama supporter. She is against abortion. She would not be for a candidate who by his record and rhetoric is for birthing babies and leaving them to die on shelves. She most definitely would not be for a candidate that supports birthing vaible babies, crushing their skulls and sucking their little brains out. Both of which Obama and his wife Michelle openly have supported, look at their rhetoric and record.

McCain is not what I want either. However, this supposed "pastor problem" is a red herring and is only another symptom of the mental disorder which is liberalism. We are currently living in the New Inquistion.

Larry, you are misinformed about Baptist
Larry, you better hope that these Baptist's that you obviously do not like, keep being Americans, as they are usually the one's going to work everyday, because their faith teaches the work ethic. You, also better hope, that we elect somebody someday who will return this country to it's senses and wakes up and realizes that "There Is No Such Thing As A Free Lunch." These Liberals who have taken over the U.S. Congress and Created This Socialist Bureaucray, has bankrupted the country, Financially, with a ten trillion dollar debt, bankrupted us spiritually by punishing and prosecuting Christians for profession of their faith, while telling Muslims they can practice their religion at public expense as we build them foot washing pools, etc., bankrupted us morally by telling children to disobey their parents and turn to the government for parenting, bankrupted us academically, as the U.S. Dept. of Education has dumbed the children down to the lowest common denominator. This list could go and on, but any sensible and rational person knows of what I speak here.

can conquer us by Bank Rupting Us Financially. They have done a masterful job so far, because these Greedy Know Nothings that run our government, have no alleigance to anything except Power and Money. Not all blacks support Obama, but a great many do for the wrong reasons. Obama's problem is not that he is black. There are many great black Americans who love this country, but they do not vote for Obama. The Socialist Programs that started With LBJ and the so-called Great Society Programs, was the beginning of the end for Black Families and their value system which was loyalty to family, christian values, a work ethic, and decency, generally. When you turn people into Wards of The State, which is what Welfare did to this country, you take away their dignity, self respect, and pride. It sounded like a good idea at the time, but as the old saying goes, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is." Was it the aim of these Socialists such as LBJ to destroy the American Fabric of a Work Ethic, Good Education, and Self Respect and dignity??This writer believes that it was and here we are 40 years later and it has succeeded. Obama would be the Final Nail in America's coffin. Pray that Obama does not win. You who vote for him will be at the mercy of what is to come too. Use your Rational Mind, and not the Emotional One that Obama so cleverly preys on. Note: Preys on, not Prays on. Obama Prays to Mohammed and Preys on you innocent and ignorant voters who support him.
Good Day, this writer has to go to work now, and pay taxes into the bottomless pit of government mis-spending. Obama needs the money to promise to welfare recipients who are his voter base.

McCain's poor political triangulation...

Attempting to win the mainstream's adoration while alienating Christians of Hagee's stripe (pro-Israel dispensational pre-millenialists).
McCain can do what Obama can't...separate himself from "religion".

Meanwhile, Mike Adams is trying to prove McCain is a man of honor.

But with all of his betrayals (1st wife, conservatives, and Christian conservatives), it becomes more and more clear that McCain often triangulates to win Media approval. It will cost him his conservative base.....in some ways Obama may be more conservative than McCain.

I still, to this day, have never met a McCain supporter to figure out what makes him/her tick. McCain, Media darling, has come this far with the Media's help.....but the Media has found its better in Barrack Hussein Obama.

A question for John McCain

What is more offensive:
You singing "Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran" to the beach boy's Barbara Anne, or Hagee's comments in which you have now disassociated yourself from?

John McCain's cowardish Behavior
We Republicans don't have much of a choice during this election, however, we can't afford to have an Obama as president either. If we doubt McCain's faith issues, we are pretty sure about Obama's. Oh how I wish we had a faithful man like President Bush again, but people didn't like him either. So we had better do the best we can do to save America from becoming another Babylon

Catholics, etc...
GD99 writes: (#57): "Chris' Stupidity:
I sure am glad that we have such a liberal readership..."

What about doctrinal differences with the Catholic church makes one liberal?

The Roman writes (#61): "...Pray to the Holy Spirit for enlightenment! You sure aren't willing to accept the TRUTH from anyone else..."

I already know we won't be able to agree on this because your final authority is the Pope, while mine is the Bible. My four verses were just some examples of where they directly contradict.

But I appreciate your earnest attitude. I also appreciate the Catholic church's political efforts - for all our doctrinal differences, y'all are my brothers in the fight for a better USA.

Larry writes (#63) "Chris is a Baptist Nut from Alabama: Chris get a life and study the Church Fathers if you want to hear the truth. Do not make up your beliefs along with you Baptist friends."

Such a loving attitude from you, Larry. I'm not a Baptist and I have a life. I am a proud nut, though. I have studied the church fathers - particularly Paul, John, James, and Peter. If you're talking about the following generation through the Latin Doctors, I've studied them enough to know that they got a lot of stuff wrong, and disagreed with each other. They did a good job on the canon, though. Truth? Sola Scriptura!

truetolife writes (#59): "how 'bout repeating scripture word for word and try to disregard how it contradicts itself with other religions?"

If you mean Scripture contradicts itself, I beg to differ - people who claim that are just looking for an excuse to not be accountable before God for their actions. I'd be happy to answer examples if you want to post them.

If you mean it contradicts other religions, well yes - obviously. What's the problem?

"Eat my body. Drink my blood. THAT is precisely what us Catholics DO believe."

It's called a "metaphor" like "I am the vine", "I am the light", "I am the living water", "I am the living bread".

"You wouldn't even have a bible if it weren't for Catholics."

Well, now that I have it, I read and believe, instead of being told what to believe even in contradiction with the Bible

"Scripture along with the handing down of oral tradition is truth."

That's the crux of the matter, and where we part ways - Sola Scriptura, no oral tradition necessary. Most of the fights Jesus had with the Pharisees were due to their traditions superceding what the Scripture said. Congratulations, you've taken the Pharisees' side on that one. Mark 7:8-13.

So, if you want to convince me, answer from the scripture instead of calling me names and appealing to the Pope.

Refighting the Reformation
Evidently there are TH readers who want to refight the Reformation, trotting out the old Pro-Catholic/Anti-Protestant arguments, or the other way around. While it's probably good conservatism to re-open these old wounds, just remember what happened first time around--a century and a half of wars of religion. One of the great things about liberalism is that, at least for a while, it obscured this conflict with some success. With the destruction of liberalism at the hands of conservatives, I'm not surprised to see old religious hatreds flare up one more time.

[I know lots of TH readers won't have the faintest idea what I'm talking about here, but that's not my problem.]

Chris
I never even mentioned the pope, but thanks for bringing that up. He is the successor of St. Peter (the Rock upon which Jesus built HIS church). The Catholic Church. Return or pay the price.

Unity?
The Roman:"May God restore the unity in Christianity that existed before the fifteenth century. That we all may be ONE BODY, in Christ."

You seem to have forgotten the Schism of the Ninth Century, when the church split into Roman Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy.

Mccain
I can now say for the 1st time in my adult life I am ashamed of my country and the nominees for president of this late great country.

McCain the PAST
McCain--Obama --Hillary = NO DIFFERENC / ROAD TO NOWHERE= 1 RINO AND 2 LIBERALS = 3 DEMOCRATS.

WHEN WILL " GOD " , COMMON SENSE and PRIDE IN AMERICA BECOME A COMMON THREAD IN OUR DAILY LIVES ?

TIME FOR AMERICA TO STOP AND LOOK NOT AT THE PARTY LINE BUT AT THE HEART, SOUL AND PRINCIPLES THAT THE CANDIDATE STANDS FOR AND HAS DEMONSTRATED IN HI OR THEIR LIVES.

"Politician" is a four letter word
First to Pedro in Florida, I couldn't agree more. You said so well what so many people miss. As a conservative I don't want a uniter. I want a fighter. McCan't doesn't have a battle left in him. I have followed politics for thirty years and I have never seen so many people who have wasted so much money on educations that couldn't fix stupid as I see in the House and Senate and every presidential candidate. And by the way, look up Bob Barr on the net. He's an ACLU member who wants to legalize drug dealing and call it a medical necessity. Doctors who can't cope with a patient load write scripts to anyone willing to pay their fee. I love my country but it's being stolen from us by politicians who can't even run their households.
