What would you rather watch?

A wave of new books about Hillary Clinton casts tinder into the ongoing flames of discomfort with the New York Senator and Democratic presidential candidate.

You might suspect that damaging books about Hillary, right when the presidential campaign is getting underway, might be politically inspired. But Bay Buchanan's is the only one by a conservative author. Of the other two freshly out, one is by two New York Times reporters, and the other by Carl Bernstein of Watergate fame.

According to the reviews, we have here material to confirm a sense of this woman that already turns so many off. Cold, ruthless, manipulative, dishonest. And, for the more ideologically inclined, Buchanan's portrayal reveals a hard core left winger dressed up as a moderate for public consumption.

But, look, this is a free country and Americans are an open and forgiving people.

The issue is who is a person -- a candidate -- today. And the fact is that candidate Clinton is quite forthcoming about who she is. It's what I see and hear today that turns me and so many others so profoundly off.

Abortion, for example, is by no means a black and white partisan issue. Current law, Roe V. Wade, that permits abortion, is supported by barely more than half the country. Seventy percent of those polled say that partial birth abortion, the late-term destruction of the infant, should be illegal.

Seventeen Democratic Senators voted for the Partial Birth Abortion Act, which bans this procedure, except when the mother's life is in danger.

However, Hillary voted against it, and she condemned the Supreme Court's recent decision upholding the constitutionality of the Act.

This despite ongoing rhetoric from candidate Hillary about the importance of family and her abhorrence about the destruction of life. Yeah, right.

If you want to know about how Senator Clinton feels about freedom and her confidence that Americans, when acting without government in their face, are a productive and charitable people you, again, just have to listen to her.

The Senator was in true form the other day, speaking at a vocational school in New Hampshire.

"Fairness doesn't just happen. It requires the right government policies."

I don't think that Senator Clinton really got the message when the Berlin Wall came down and the Soviet Union collapsed.

Other than making sure that women can destroy their unborn babies, including teenage girls doing so without permission from their parents, I don't think there is any part of our lives that Senator Clinton doesn't want to get government, her government, into.

Not only does she oppose freeing up those broken government systems that are failing Americans (our inner city public schools, our social security system, Medicare, Medicaid), but Senator Clinton's answer is more government.

When I stand in the security lines in the airport, I think about what it will be like in the health clinics in the era of Hillary Care.

Senator Clinton went on in New Hampshire to mock President Bush's "ownership society" idea, calling it the "own your own" society. Her ideal, she says, is the "we're all in it together" society.

This woman really hates freedom and has little appreciation that an ownership society and a "we're all in it together society" go hand in hand.

This was graphically shown in a book published last year, "Who Really Cares," by Professor Arthur Brooks of Syracuse University.

Professor Brooks studied in depth charitable giving patterns in America. His conclusions: religious Americans give four times as much as secular Americans, conservative households give 30 percent more than liberal households, and those who believe that government should redistribute income give one-fourth as much as those who do not believe this.

"We're all in it together America" is alive and well. I see it regularly as I travel around the country and speak in churches, at shelters, and in crisis pregnancy centers.

The point is that, as Professor Brooks' data bears out, Americans who care about their neighbors, who see their country and their lives as more than just about themselves, are the faithful, freedom loving Americans who believe in ownership and private property.

It's no wonder that Senator Clinton is not aware that this America exists. It's not where she hangs out.

The Clinton campaign is, not surprisingly, dismissing the new books about their candidate as ho-hum, and not bringing any new information to the table.

And I think they must be right. Americans are getting a pretty good sense of this woman just by listening to her.

Senator Clinton's negative ratings have been rising since her campaign began. Before she started, she logged in at 58 percent positive and 40 percent negative according to Gallup.

In the most recent Gallup poll, she came in at 45 percent positive and 51 percent negative.

Smart Americans Love Hillary
American's don't like Hillary? Maybe the stupid ones that think individualism is something to be proud of do, but the vast majority of Americans realize that they would be utter failures were it not for the assistance and guidance they receive from the government.

Hillary Clinton has been getting hammered for her statements reminding the citizenry that “we are all in this together”, and that an “on your own” society cannot be tolerated. Such criticism is unjust, for it ignores the basic fact that each person is put on this earth solely to serve others. Hillary realizes that common people should not pursue their own dreams; rather they should strive to ensure the collective is functioning properly. Politicians such as Hillary make this sacrifice every day when they devote their time to making the decisions that they feel are in our best interest. Considering the magnanimity of their efforts, surely we as servants of our rulers can do the same.

An “all together” society makes sense when one recalls that all economic systems based on the ideal of collectivism have prospered magnificently, whereas the models that rely on self-interested participants have all succumbed to dismal failure. Likewise, citizens of the entities that have practiced socialist methodology have all managed to lead happy, healthy lives. In contrast, the peoples of individualized capitalistic based nations all live in utter squalor and hopelessness, for no man can hope to achieve when competition is the rule of the day. The past has proven that mankind fairs better when individuality is cast aside, so it is ridiculous for any person to cling to their own sense of self worth when they should instead think only how they can meet the needs of others. Hillary has come to this conclusion, and only a fool would question her wisdom.

I almost didn't read this
Now, I'm STILL wishing I hadn't read this.

The woman makes me ill. Not even LD can cure this ache...

how smart is failure???
'loyal democrat' wrote the following comment: "Maybe the stupid ones that think individualism is something to be proud of do, but the vast majority of Americans realize that they would be utter failures were it not for the assistance and guidance they receive from the government."

re-read it again if you are stumped people! i know i had to!

THESE are the smart people i do NOT want as MY neighbors!

It is really a crying shame that someone actually thinks they are 'smart' for not wanting to succeed in life! if MOST americans KNOW they are total failures, why dont they DO something about it? How sick is this?? if being the smarter american is being the slacker american, i dont want any part of THAT america!

if the vast majority of americans are total failures, why is our economy so good? why am i able to sit on my butt and eat bon bons while my husband with no college education can afford to take care of us VERY well? i could NEVER have pulled this off 15 years ago!

this is the most ignorant statement i have ever heard in support of the socialist democratic way!

and if ya dont like the grammar and spelling and such in my post, blame my socialist government education!

hillary's master plan
oh, and one more thing: shrillary's wisdom? NO ONE doubts or challenges her savvy or knowledge. She is a very smart woman..... a very conniving woman..... its those 'wise' ones that we must worry about. Germany thought Hitler was wise. He had a great plan!

i shudder to think!

I am an American
...and I like Hillary. In fact, she is my
hero.

Of course
Loyal Democrat is joking. Even so, my stomoch turned over. LD accurately described Hillary's views and her agenda. It is good that even lots of Democrats find her repulsive.

Hillary.
The four nouns used to describe her sure sound right -- no left!

Imagine
Remember the Hillary who we heard about a few years ago? The one who didn't leave a tip for her waitress and the news found out about it?

Now imagine Hillary as your CNA in a care center. The one who comes in answer to the buzzer you've been pressing for 45 minutes because you have to use the bathroom again...

Imagine Hillary as your doctor when your 80-years-old and you need heart surgery to live and you don't have insurance...

Imagine Hillary as your lawyer when your wife has just decided to terminate the pregnancy you have prayed for for six years because she doesn't want to slow down her career...

Imagine Hillary as your president...

Loyal Democrat and viruddh
You two scare me. Americans don't like Shrillary because she is near the bottom of the gene pool. I mean the Jerry Springer guest gene pool. Only someone who has the morals of an alley cat would like her.

the government will save me
If you are waiting around for the government to help you, you are already a stupid klunk.

Loyal Democrat
Now that my stomach has settled I can address your communist rantings.
"American's don't like Hillary? Maybe the stupid ones that think individualism is something to be proud of do, but the vast majority of Americans realize that they would be utter failures were it not for the assistance and guidance they receive from the government"

As I said in my previous post "Americans don't like Shrillary because she is near the bottom of the gene pool. I mean the Jerry Springer guest gene pool. Only someone who has the morals of an alley cat would like her."

Next: Individualism is what makes industry run more efficiantly not government, it's individuals with the freedom of thought to think through complex problems and no government agency can mandate that. It is individuals with the freedom to profit from their ideas that supply jobs to those without the imagination or drive to succeed or those who are unwilling to take the finacial risk. I find your comment that "the vast majority of Americans realize that they would be utter failures were it not for the assistance and guidance they receive from the government" To be offensive. It is small business that provides the vast majority jobs in America, not government and not big business.

Shrillary Clinton should get hammered for these statements because we are "not all in this together." Most Americans do not have to make a payroll every week or every two weeks depending on your employer. Most Americans do not have to pay sky high unemployment or worker compensation insurance. It is the people who really are "on their own" that have to pay these expenses to stay in business.

You think such critisism "is unjust for it ignores the basic fact that each person is put on this earth solely to serve others. Hillary realizes that common people should not pursue their own dreams; rather they should strive to ensure the collective is functioning properly."

I think such critisism is just because it is you that ignores the basic human instinct to thrive and succeed, to compete, to provide for themselves and their families. And what pray tell is wrong with dreams? It is dreams that makes man yearn to go to the moon, it is dreams that inspire a young boy or girl to lift themselves above liberal induced poverty. Without these dreams we would still be living in caves and our vocabulary would be reduced to the word "uhg". It is these "dreamers" that ensure the collective is functioning properly not Hillary Clinton. I agree that their are those who through the mismanagement of their own lives who are not productive in our society, but most of their probems can be traced back to their own stupidity and no government agency can fix stupidity, even yours.

Next paragraph: An “all together” society makes sense when one recalls that all economic systems based on the ideal of collectivism have prospered magnificently, whereas the models that rely on self-interested participants have all succumbed to dismal failure.

Please tell me which "all together" society has prospered. Every "collective" society I can think of only the leaders have prospered unless you consider shared misery and poverty a success.

"Likewise, citizens of the entities that have practiced socialist methodology have all managed to lead happy, healthy lives." I remember people in Tianimin Square didn't look too happy and healthy, need I say more?

"so it is ridiculous for any person to cling to their own sense of self worth when they should instead think only how they can meet the needs of others."
I guess providing employment doesn't meet the needs of others?

"Hillary has come to this conclusion, and only a fool would question her wisdom.
I think you are the fool not to question her motives.

Loyal Democrat
...writes about the huge successes of collectivism and the failures if individualism...well, maybe I'm optimistic, but I see a very large tongue in cheek there. Nobody could be as ignorant and stupid to really mean this garbage.

Hillary is a viscious fascist. "You take the responsibility and I'll tell you what to do."

Hillary
Loyal Democrat, like most liberals, assumes the general population consists of stupid people, government (liberal elites)should make all our decisions and that we are incapable of existing on our own. These views usually originate from the minds of privileged liberals who have never had to work or from slugs who are on government assistance, although physically and mentally able to work. Hillary is fading fast, if she actually is the Democrat candidate, we have nothing to fear.

P.J.O'Rourke Got It Right
We won't vote for us, he said. We know us.

Hillary Clinton embodies everything the majority of us hate about the Sixties. We want the Sixties to be over; we don't want to moon in the seventh house or in the White House and although we would love Jupiter (wisdom) to align with Mars (war), the thought of Hillary Clinton nekkid on the stage fills us with primal fear.

We're not going to vote for her because we see in her what happens when Peter Pan turns 60.

We won't vote for the Sixties -- as the Sixties turn Sixty we know that P.J. O'Rourke is Right.

This reformed liberal never liked Hill
She always struck me as condescending when she displayed her true heart with the Tammy Wynette comment.

Actually, I should probably thank Hillary for helping me to see the light. Her example made conservatism look much more attractive than liberalism.

I sincerely pray that if the Republicans can't muster this election cycle, that the Dems offer a better candidate for president than Hill or Obama.

This woman will never be president
Hillary is a very smart woman, but she will never be president. Why?

The USA is not New York. (too much middle America)

Hillary is divisive. Many leftists don't like her; many women don't like her; most men hate her; her voice grates. Yes!

The Hill and Bill show is through.

Hillary
Think on the positive side. As my oldest son says, Hillary Clinton is vicious and absolutely ruthless in attacking anything or anyone who stands in her way. If she had been President the last six years, no Mosque in Iraq that had supported terrorists would be standing. it wouldn't have mattered to her if innocent people, including children, were inside when she had them leveled. Sadr would be long dead, as would the growing thousands of his supporters who attack Americans and any freedom wanting Iraqis. In fact, she would have made Saddam Hussein look like an innocent, but the war would be over.

On the negative side, of course, is what she would do to the American people - to anyone who opposed her or seemed to oppose her. Pelosi, for example, would be in prison if she did to Hillary what she has done to the Bush administration. Bill D.

Best summed up
Socialism is a losing strategy for losers.

Disliking Hillary is easy
SHE IS A SOCIALIST!!!! And no, LD and viruddh, this is not a good thing. BTW, LD, I love your satirism!

Loyal Dem
You nailed it! Your excellent satire always brightens my day. Many thanks!

Ayn Randian villain running for office?
"Many of you are well enough off that the tax cuts may have helped you. We're saying that for America to get back on track, we're probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good."
-Hillary Clinton, 2004

It isn't often you get to see an actual villain from an Ayn Rand novel leap forth from the pages and run for office.

How does somebody get up on stage and talk as if what I earn doesn't really belong to me and is hers to decide whether or not to "give" to me?

A recipe for unmitigated national economic mediocrity.

Say no to the 1960s, vote against Hillary.

SSHTRET
HEY Sarg, Hillary has a message for us and LD is repeating it in his own way. I think it comes from a TV show what was it?....... OH yea, STAR TREC - "RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!! THE COLLECTIVE CANNOT BE STOPPED!!!" LMAO!!!

Sorry
That last one was for SSGTRET! My fingers must still be asleep!

The bottom line is that
Hillary Clinton is both an idealogue and radical, in the sense that Kenneth Minougue defined them. Idealogues interpret human relations in terms of of the relation between the exploiters and the exploited. Idealogues present themselves as possessing awareness of the secret behind all human activity, and that secret is about oppression and exploitation of the have-nots by the haves. In essence, the idealogue's "trick" is to re-define everything that normal well-meaning people do through a prism of abusiveness requiring radical remediation.

Idealogues just cannot see the world the way common-sense people do; rather, they regard common-sense as either a confession of ignorance, or a mental/moral defect. The idealogue's appeal rests with anyone infected with any form of resentment at the world, and as such, walks hand-in-hand with nihilism. The main strategy of all idealogues is to destroy everything that is in order to replace it with their own vision of perfection. As a result, nothing in this world most people regard as good, is REALLY good inasmuch as it might retard the achievement of the idealogue's vision of perfection, hence the old saying that, "The perfect is the enemy of the good."

Hillary's cattle deal
This is where she made the infamous $100k.

If you can find the story of how this transpired, read it: this deal was only slightly less spontaneous than the D-Day invasion, the anniversary of which we will celebrate on Wednesday.

I wonder if the French will celebrate it?

viruddh; general mac
viruddh writes: "I am an American...and I like Hillary. In fact, she is my
hero."

Now viruddh, your sure not a PC American -- or Hillary would be your shero.

general macarthur writes: "Loyal Democrat, like most liberals, assumes the general population consists of stupid people,..."

From what little I read these posts, I assume Loyal Democrat writes, as impact said; with a "very large tongue in cheek", or as I call it, sarcasm.

But if LD does assume that the general population consists of stupid people -- well I sorta' agree with him, and I'm not liberal, nor a democrat.

I just remember how the election turned out last year.

Does she ?

Does Hillary remind anyone of the character played by Angela lansbury in the original Manchurian Candidate (1962) ( the one with Frank Sinatra and Lawrence Harvey)?

Hillary go home
Any candidate who professes more individual responsibility and accountability, in concert with all levels of government held to the same standard, is the person I’m going to vote for, regardless of party.

I’m sick of the rhetoric used to manipulate the poor, down trodden, middle class by attempting to throw some emotional Molotov cocktail into the crowd, then jumping in as if to save the day.

If someone is poor, down trodden, uneducated, etc. in our society, they have no one to blame but themselves. This nation is replete with opportunity. You’re entitled to the “pursuit of happiness”, this is actionable on the individual’s part not some entitlement for which the nation is supposed to take care you.

Hillary
remember it's a vast right wing conspiracy..hehe

Look, her lips are moving
so we know she's lying.

I think someone gave the hildabeast
an ant farm when she was a kid and she said" Oh, that's how it should work and I could be the queen".
This woman is dangerous and the very fact that she could be supported for president by other politicians who should know better shows just how corrupt this system has become.

Let's get smart here, they read history, they know what made this country great and what caused other societies to fail. They read the same books and articles that we do, yet they ignore it all and force this garbage down our throats.
The "immigration" bill is a perfect example. We are a country of 300 million, been working for over 200 years to educate the majority and yet they want to suddenly bring in around 50 million who don't speak english and probably don't have a HS diploma between them and they call it a good thing.

It's time for another tea party. We need statesman not politicians. Throw them all the hell out and start over.

Ld
At 12:24 AM you made the statement that People were put on earth souly to serve others. I hope that was satirical. If anybody thinks I'm here to serve them without my inclination - think again! I served my country for 7 1/2 years voulenteer and my days of serving without my ok are long gone.

The Clintons know hot to beat Repubs..
thats what repubs/cons seem to forget. They dont back down and as we know republicans are all pretty much bullies..you fight back and they back off, cowards that they are.

If the repubs/cons strategy for defeating Ms. Clinton, should she win the dem nomination, is
to resurrect 50's McCarthyism and run behind her shouting:

COMMUNIST, SOCIALIST, MARXIST ANTI AMERICAN TRAITOR!!!!

you most assuredly will lose to her without a doubt.

Hillary believes this
From each according to his ability, to each according to his need (or needs) is a slogan popularized by Karl Marx

Political Science according to Cows
In a college sociology class we were given this sheet with a breakdown of "ism's" based on cows...

It started with;
FEUDALISM:
Your lord places two cows in your care, he allows you to keep some of the milk.
SOCIALISM:
You have two cows. The government takes one to give to someone else.

However I recently saw an addendum to this...

HILLARY CLINTON'S BETTER IDEA;
Obviously, you as a Farmer, don't know what's best for you as an individual, and more importantly for Society as a whole. Therefore, you can't be trusted to make decisions concerning your own future (or Cattle Futures either.) This being the case, The Government will decide to centralize the cattle industry and run it in your best interests. Your two cattle will be "purchased" from you (at the Government determined fair market rate, less fees for shipping, handling, and of course, taxes), and taken to a central, Government run compound for proper dispensation. [See "Bureaucracy" above.] You will never taste dairy products again, but at least you will get to buy USDA Government Inspected beef (at a fair markup, of course), and you will be relieved of all the headaches associated with trying to think for yourself. Now isn't that a whole lot better?

Packrat - Does she?
Yes.

Loyal Democrat
Loyal Democrat;

I think I have guessed your true identity. You are either Balph Eubank or Wesley Mouch!

HILLARY AND WHAT MAKES HER TICK
Much has been said and written about Hillary's father, Hugh Rodham, Sr., his Horatio Alger rags-to-riches story, his petty tyrant nature, his strong support for "Mr. Republican" Bob Taft for President in 1952, and his strong support for Barry Goldwater for President in 1964.

From what I have observed, much less has been said and written about Hillary's mother, Dorothy Howell Rodham, her Dickensian childhood, and her support for Democrat JFK in 1960. I have read that Dorothy Rodham and her sister were born to very young parents who broke up, went their separate ways, and put Dorothy and her little sister on the train to California to live with the grandparents, who were not kind or loving. It is folly to underestimate how much influence this alone has had on Hillary's thinking in favor of big government. Dorothy admitted that she voted for JFK.

For Bill and Hillary, the '60s never ended. They have supersize talent that has enabled them to not only write their own tickets to life, but to do so in a manner that has made it possible to make a living without abandoning the '60s values that many other people were forced to abandon because of the need to earn a living that would make mortgage payments and raise and educate children.

It is inappropriate to compare the Clintons' morals to an alley cat. An alley cat doesn't know any better and it acts on instincts unless it is spayed or neutered. People should know better but make a conscious choice to act as they do.

Much has been written about Hillary's Methodist upbringing. One of the biggest influences on Hillary was a very liberal youth minister. Today, the United Methodist Church is one of the many mainline Protestant denominations that has seen their numbers of members decline, not just as their senior citizen members die, but as the young people raised in those churches have either dropped out altogether or have voted with their feet for more socially and theologically conservative churches.

Why Hillary in 08?
Why Hillary in 08?

Why would anyone vote for Hillary other than lobbyists?

From Jeff Gerth

Huffington-Here are a few things that I hope readers will take away from reading our book, Her Way: The Hopes and Ambitions of Hillary Rodham Clinton:

For all her criticism of George Bush and Dick Cheney for secrecy and incompetence, she has exhibited both traits on occasion.

Our book shows how she, like the president and vice president, exaggerated the pre-war intelligence on Iraq prior to her October 2002 vote authorizing the war. She also didn’t do her homework before the vote. In 2006, Hillary consulted a secretive energy task force of her own, just as Cheney did five years earlier. Like the president, she has spoken naively about one of the ways to reduce America’s dependence on foreign oil supplies (she said better sources of electricity could reduce dependence). She pretends to have been somewhat against the war before she was for it, by mischaracterizing her own record.

Nor has Hillary’s training as a lawyer or her reputation for being Washington’s smartest, most diligent senator, prevented her from making mistakes or defying Senate rules — whether it is writing her own book’s narrative, promoting her environmental credentials or hiding parts of her Senate staff from proper disclosure.

She and her allies are working hard in their attempt to obfuscate the book’s revelations. Their motive is clear: Her Way shines a spotlight on certain areas of Hillary’s political and professional career that she hopes voters will ignore.

Hitlery
The woman is wicked, she ain't smart, but devious, spiteful and very, very dangerous. She'd be the perfect replacement for Fidel in Koobah or the recent Politburo opening in Beijing. People who would vote for her should have the suffrage and citizenship denied.

Hillary and Sam Walton!

Do you think Hillary Clinton’s as a board member of Wal-Mart profiteering off child, prison and slave labor is a legitimate issue in 08? Do you think Hillary commitment to U.S. workers, small business, and environmental standards due to her profiteering based on exploitation while on the board is a real issue? Do you think Bill Clinton was influenced as President by Hillary to support and expand on this trade policy that puts profits ahead of human rights and Americans via the relationship with Sam Walton?

GP-Read an official biography of the Senator and you’ll find her six-month stint on a child-protection task force. Yet you won’t find her SIX YEARS on the board of directors of Wal-Mart Corporation. She may have earned a Grammy for “It Takes a Village to Raise a Child.” But it takes a Governor’s wife to provide cover for Wal-Mart’s profiteering off systematic wage-enslavement of children in its factories in South America.

Sam Walton called Hillary, “My little lady.” Sam paid her an eyebrow raising sum for a director - equal to 60% of her entire not-insubstantial salary as a lawyer. By contrast, Wendy Diaz (her real name), a 13-year-old in Honduras, was paid 25 cents an hour to make shirts for the “little lady’s” label.

Hillary’s rake-in was made possible by Wal-Mart’s 100% union-free operation and out-sourcing of 100% of its manufacturing, some to prison factories in China. Now, you could say that Hillary couldn’t hear the screams of the kiddies in Kamp Wal-Mart in Honduras. After all, she relied on the intelligence provided her by the President (of Wal-Mart).

LMAO
I guess Loyal Democrat portrays the left ideology so well that people like Dark Wizard don't know that he is actually a libertarian writing satire!

The best satire is a completely accurate, honest portrayal of the target, and you have pulled it off so well, LD, that many on your side are completely fooled.
Congratulations, LD!
I try always to read your posts, and enjoy them.
Thank you!

Why I Don't Like Hillary

.....She reminds me of Nurse Rachett in "One flew over the Cuckoo nest" ...

.....I can see it all now ...after she gets her National Health Care set up ...she orders mandatory lobotomies for all Conservatives .....COLOSSUS

Re: vader
"re-read it again if you are stumped people! i know i had to!

THESE are the smart people i do NOT want as MY neighbors!"

Actually, a clever bit of satire IMO.

chameleon
Don't underestimate Hillary, she is a chameleon, that will do anything or say anything to be elected President. She has one of the foremost political minds in her camp as her husband. Say what you will about Bill, but he was and is the ultimate politician. This woman is dangerous. The unfortunate thing is that the Dems don't have anyone that is worthy of being President. Edwards is a smarmy snake that makes my skin crawl, and Obama is an empty suit, that only is in the race because he is an (half) African-American. On the Republican side, there are some good candidates that can win. Obviously, many of them are good on some issues, but we disagree with them on others. No candidate is perfect. We cannot afford to have any Democrat candidate in the White House, unless we can take back the Senate and Congress. That was what kept Bill in check in the Nineties. Even two years of a Pelosi-Reid led Congress, with Hillary, Edwards, Obama, or Gore Presidency, and this country will be in serious jeopardy.

To Packrat
I had that exact thought about the Manchurian Candidate comparison.

to Dark Wizard:
Boo!

and also, boo hoo.

John Konop
I will give Sam Walton one thing over his money hungry kids. At least when he was alive and controling it he tried to give American made products first priority. His kids, on the other hand, have turned it into an outlet store for every foreign made product they can find.

Satire--NOT!

Many of the above posts congratulate Loyal Democrat on his/her/it's excellent satire.
I was under the impression that satire should be FUNNY, or, at the very least, amusing. LD's post reads more like an exultation of Marx. (Karl, not Groucho.)

For LD
Your definition of "smart" sounds a lot like that of Eric Margolis, a columnist for the Toronto Sun--who idolised Mulroney to the point of even justifying the GST as necessary (and who naturally didn't mention the treasonous Meech Lake Agreement which Mulroney tried and failed to railroad through) and even printed this in an article slightly prior to Canada's 1993 election. Canadians in fact proved ACTUALLY smart and largely rejected Margolis--Mulroney's party went from a majority (169/295) to TWO PARLIAMENTARY SEATS in that election.

Eight years of that termagant Shilary in the White House was more than enough for several lifetimes!

Loyal Democrat
An “all together” society makes sense when one recalls that all economic systems based on the ideal of collectivism have prospered magnificently.

LOL. Like alot of readers, I had to read Loyal Democrat’s post twice. What a genius this guy must be. He claims to represent the majority of the American people. If that is true, then Dennis Kucinich will be our next president. Loyal, I’ll switch places with you. Since robot collectivism didn’t sit well with me, I left China a few years ago. You can take my place. You will fit right in with a government that squelches free speech and deplore individual success. A popular sports hero in China named Yao Ming was recently scolded by the communist government for pushing his national teammates too hard to succeed. He was put on notice that he would be forbidden to play in the US if he continues to exhibit western values. That is the kind of country Loyal wants us to be?

Keep posting on TH, Loyal. We need constant reminders of the liberal mindset.

A Simple Test
Our grand daughter asks, why do so many people dislike the former President and his wife. The simple test..
Would you allow your children to be in a Scout Troup headed up by Mr. Clinton? And, likewise would you want your young boys (Cub Scouts) in a pack with Hillary as Den Mother?
Oh, I see what you mean - thanks Grandpa!

Black Dog
You and like-minded people just take my breath away with your stupidity.

Do you really think the elitist Democrats give two cents for the plight of black America?

Did you know it was Republicans who got the '64 civil rights act passed... not the Dems?

Blacks have been supporting the Dems in mass for 50+ years now, yet are still complaining about the same issues... Don't you think it is about time to conclude that perhaps you've been had?

When I see highly succesful blacks in the public eye today... I sure don't see bootlickers, I see intelligent, resourceful and hard-working people who didn't rely on government to achieve success.

It seems to me that those who are critical of these success stories are just scapegoating their own lack of initiative and independence.

Lefty nonsense for another day.
"They dont back down and as we know republicans are all pretty much bullies..you fight back and they back off, cowards that they are."

Yeah, Republicans are bullies. That's why, as First Lady, Hillary stole FBI information of those who oppose her and fired everyone at the Travel Office because they disagreed with her. Because Republicans are bullies.

And Murtha threatened his opponents in violation of congressional rules. Because Republicans are bullies.

"If the repubs/cons strategy for defeating Ms. Clinton, should she win the dem nomination, is
to resurrect 50's McCarthyism and run behind her shouting:

"COMMUNIST, SOCIALIST, MARXIST ANTI AMERICAN TRAITOR!!!!

"you most assuredly will lose to her without a doubt."

We don't have to shout it. Every time Hitlery opens her pie hole, she goes and admits it herself. All we need to do to defeat her is play audio footage of her admitting to her love of Marxism.

Rodhamites Unite!
I believe the main reason people don't like Hillary is that she removed the name "Rodham."

I'd like to invite everyone to read my comments on the Democratic debate. Among other things, I mentioned that the 8 Democrats made Tom Tancredo look like Abraham Lincoln. I also explain why CNN is exactly the wrong forum for any type of serious debate. If you want to read, click on my name. Comments always welcome.

Read MACBETH~
The viewer/readership need only (re)read Shakespeare's MACBETH. Lady Macbeth is one of the most evil, manipulative and ruthless viragoes in all Western literature. Even a cursory perusal of this great play will send chills down the spine of readers who will instantly recognize the Hillster
as a PM reincarnation of Shakespeare's profoundest characterization of the Jungian BLACK Anima beast.
Lady Macbeth's prayer to the powers of Darkness to "Unsex me, you murdering ministers!" says it all. Take and read...

Star says:
No other truth in the article jumps out as far as this one:

"It's no wonder that Senator Clinton is not aware that this America exists. It's not where she hangs out."

Hillary has seen America from the back of a limousine for the last 3 decades. She has no grasp of what Americans do and think, since she has nothing to base an analysis on. The only world she knows it that which was downloaded into her by left wing professors and authors. Her positions and her quest for power were then hammered out and polished while riding her husband's coat tails in a comparatively isolated environment.

Sadly, there is a very distinct posibility that Hillary will be our next president. She has the option sliding effortlessly into home plate next November, as evidenced by John Kerry's ability to garner 48-49% of the vote.

Stock up on ammo.

Americans Deserve
The government that they vote for.

If the citizens of this once great republic elect Hillary and her band of gypsies, tramps, and thieves into office, then we all deserve whatever abuse they choose to inflict on us.

If Hillary does come to power, look for the media to start classifying her opponents as "enemies of the state"

Another thing
During the memorial for the fallen police and firemen after 9/11 I noticed that Hillary seemed very bored with the ceremonies. Her style of applause -- more like sliding her hands across each other -- as well as the pained "Enough alreasy!" expression on her face spoke volumes about her attitude about American heroes. Schumer (whom I can't stand either) was standing beside her but handled himself a lot better. Apparently one of her handlers noticed what I saw on TV and took her aside to remind her that the whole world was watching.

There was a popular bumper sticker during the Clinton years that read, "The Clintons for Change." The "C" in both "Clinton" and "Change" was the Hammer and Sickle. It was appropriate at the time and will be more so if she is elected. The Council on Foreign Relations will most likely pick the nominees anyway regardless of how we vote in the primaries, as they have in previous elections since the 30's -- with Reagan the sole exception. In that case, he was surrounded by CFR members in order to blunt his message.

Robert
You may choke on that Wal/mart stock. Saturday in Eastlake, Ohio the walmart had a bomb scare, bringing in the police and county bomb squad. All this by blind luck was just a scare perpetrated by a rumored disgruntled former employee. I guess maybe not all those allegations of unfair labor practices and other things were invalad huh?

It's Really Quite Simple
Hillary Clinton is against anyone having the freedom to do the things she did in order to climb to the top. Because if we do, we might knock her off her perch.

But whether she believes in any of this stuff is easy to determine based on her own past behavior.

Hillary wants to be involved in raising your kids, but she made damn sure her own child was kept out of the public view and did not attend public schools.

Hillary wants to tell you how to spend your money, but she won't even tell you how she chose to spend her own, let alone allow you to advise her on it.

Hillary wants to build databases that keep records on your health, your politics, and your income, but the entirety of her life is out of bounds for discussion.

Hillary, in short, wants to elected Supreme Dictator for Life. One vote, one time.

Hillary
One ineffable trait that Americans have traditionally insisted upon in their Presidents is that they be vaguely "likeable." Hillary will never pass that test. She's a far left wolf in (poorly fitting) sheep's clothes, and phony as hell. LD's satire accurately nailed her.

Re: Cal
"Americans Deserve
The government that they vote for."

How true; but the rest of us have to put up with it as well.

Another bumper sticker:

"VOTE WISELY! HITLER CAME TO POWER IN A FREE ELECTION!"

That will become more popular at the gun shows than it already is as 2008 draws closer.

MS. P.
Yea, and her momma dresses her funny! The answer to the title is: because she doesn't act AMERICAN!!!!!!

Why do you people care?
If the author of this article is really right and Americans DO hate Hilary, then why is there even a discussion? No one who really is hated gets elected, and why would all these people bother writing about her in that case? Why do all these people seem to FEAR Hilary if she really is hated?

I'm confused. Either we hate her and there's nothing to talk about, or we don't hate her and she's a legitimate contender -- which is it?

HC
We don't like her because she is a communist witch with a "B"! That's why! Loyal Democrat you rock! I see still people don't get your satire.

bewolfe: get real dude..
If you believe a strategy of resurrecting 50"s McCarthyism and running behind Sen. Clinton shouting:

COMMUNIST, SOCIALIST, MARXIST ANTI-AMERICAN TRAITOR!!!

is going to defeat her, youre a bigger fool than
I always thought you were..lol

Dude, the average voter could care less about that bs..Actually what you need to do is take your "conspiracy theories" and shove em where the sun dont shine because that boat dont float,
has zero traction and is highly irrevelant to them. The only people that get a "rise" out of that bs are right wing lugnuts like yourself..

The bottom line is this:

If there isnt dramatic/drastic improvement in Iraq in the next year, Prez Bush continues to
drive a wedge between his conservative base and the Republican Party by insistance of passage of his "amnesty" immigration bill, and the Republican Party continues to implode in dissarray (miracle of miracles: repubs/cons are calling for his IMPEACHMENT), your worst nightmare has a excellent chance of coming true..

THE CLINTONS WILL BE BACK IN THE WHITE HOUSE

DEMS WILL RETAIN CONTROL OF CONGRESS..

SEN. REID WILL STILL BE SENATE MAJORITY LEADER

CON. PELOSI WILL STILL BE SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE

THERE WILL BE A NEW DEMOCRATIC CABINET..

THE CONSERVATIVE MOVEMENT WILL BE DOA FOR THE TIME BEING...

OH AND YEAH..THE "COMMIES" WILL HAVE TAKEN OVER..LMAO

"Hillary go home"

Where is home? New York, where she is a Yankee fan? Or, Chicago, where she was a life-long Cubs fan? Or, Arkansas, where the carpetbagger called the residents a bunch of hicks? Hillary is the definition of a homeless person.

You have to feel for Hillary. Here is a woman who is homeless and has a husband who plays the field, and there is not a damn thing she can do about it. Bill made a fools out of her and all women of feminist persuasion for the last 30 years. Hillary put up with all the humiliation her philandering husband dished out and took it like a good Stepford wife. You ladies out there, take a lesson from the strongest woman in the world, and stand by your man.

Rupert
Hillary is the Rosie of politics. Either you love her or you hate her. She is the poster child of every man's ex.

Walmart
Knock off the Walmart baloney. Newsflash ALL retail jobs pay lousy. Target, Kohls, Macy's, Bloomingdales, etc. Walmart actually pays a little better. They get picked on because they are the biggest, and Target, Macy's, and Kohl's are Dem supporters with two Dem Senators. Furthermore Walmart is introducing free enterprise into markets owned and operated by Dems. They are killing their sacred cows like healthcare. Sometimes I am amazed at the dribble I see on this board. The Walton family is Republican and vey good at sticking their foot in the doors the libtards open and making huge profits.

To Hound Dog
Tell us, when you cheated on your wife, did she then become an effective Senator?

Jaydee & the Cow factor
Wow. People are complaining that the liberals are
taking over our institutions of higher learning.
I guess they are not so correct after all.

Or perhaps you really didn't get that sheet of
definitions in your sociology class. And maybe,
just maybe, Hillary's goal is not to centralize
the cattle industry either.

Do you see a boogeyman everywhere you turn?

Leftangle
Thankyou for making me laugh out loud at your post to bewolfe! You spout off at conspiracy theories while at the same time you libtards scream "Bush blew up the Twin Towers!" "This is a War for Oil!" " This war was to make Halliburton and Cheney rich!" shall I keep going? Go ahead and vote for Hitlery. When you don't have a paycheck and get thrown in jail for sneezing funny be sure and point the finger at the conservatives. Idiot!

lilly
So tell us exactly what Hitlery has accomplished as a Senator other than voting for the war then admitting she is so stupid that bush was able to trick her. Oh and bringing home pork for New York. Don't forget that. What major piece of legislation has she passed? Please enlighten us. Reality is she doesn't even have the experience to be president, neither does Obamba, or Edwards, especially Edwards! Get real! She's a puppet.

Only Rudy Can Stop Her
The threat of her presidency is real. When people like her win elections in other countries . . those countries do not have free elections anymore. She is a totalitarian in an authoritarian party.

The good news is that Rudy can stop her. There is not another Republican who can do it and we need to come to terms with the fact that the damges caused to the ideals of libertarians and social conservative causes would be severe.

A possible solution.....
Hillary "Rodman" needs to have an Exorcism performed on her! That would be the only way to rid her of those demons that are occupying her person!!
It would have to be done by a very holy person - perhaps Pope Benedict XVI.

To Hound Dog
Hound Dog writes: Monday, June, 04, 2007 12:18 PM

She is the poster child of every man's ex.

Does that mean that everyone who is happily married loves Hilary and everyone who is bitterly divorced hates her? This seems weird to me. Why would that be?

To Harold
I'm not sure I follow your logic. Scout troops are composed of boys. There has been some publicity about leaders and adult priests etc accompanying Scout troops molesting the boys. But Bill Clinton has never been accused of being a pedophile or a homosexual---his sins all seem to be playing around with adult women. So your logic doesn't hold. And I am not aware of Hillary Clinton ever have been accused of sexual predation or molestation of any kind. So what in the world are you talking about? You may as well have made a wild accusation that she is a shoplifter or sells cocaine or steals old ladies' credit cards.

If you say you hate Hillary because she wants universal health care and you see that is Communist, I may disagree with you but I can follow your logic. If you say you hate Hillary because she is am ambitious woman and you prefer women to be obedient homebodies, then I may disagree with you but I can follow your logic. But your answer to your grandchild implies that the Clintons are child predators. If you have proof of that, why don't you cite it here for all to read? Otherwise, if you go around making unbased hysterical accusations, some day it is going to occur to your grandchild that her grandpa is a dope.

lilly
“Tell us, when you cheated on your wife, did she then become an effective Senator?”

First of all, I have never cheated on my wife. Unlike Bill, I love and respect my wife. As to being an effective Senator, name one thing that Hillary has done for the state of New York. She is a SINO, senator in name only. Like Robert Kennedy, she used the state of NY as a stepping stone for the presidency. A truly strong woman would have dumped the philandering bum and blazed her own trail. All through her political life, she has followed Bill’s coattail like a little obedient puppy dog. I can name several high-power women Senators who got elected all on their own. Hillary could not. She was only good at baking cookies before she met Bill.

lolo: I think youre trembling...
in your boots at strong possibility that the Clintons will be back in the white house and dems will retain control of
Congress, then the so-called "conservative revolution" will dead..gone..kaput..

that's what's really bothering you and believe me
after all the smug arrogance of the repubs/cons while they were in control of all three branches of the government i have one thing to say to you.

In the words of a great u.s. philosopher:

"I FEEL YOUR PAIN"...LMAO

Hillary
Hillary is a socialist. Her comment about "taking money from the oil companies" and her "national health care" scam are two examples.

She is a social communitarian ("it takes a village") and an economic socialist.

Her vision of corporate American is to control private enterprise through taxation and regulation. Her vision of the middle class is egalitarian (everyone will be "equal").

What she doesn't tell you is that "some are more equal than others". Hillary advocates income redistribution from the "evil rich" to the "poor". She doesn't mention that middle class Americans are considered "rich".

Hillary also doesn't mention that the elite members of society (like herself) will be needed to run the country and will therefore be exempt from that income redistribution.

Keep walking down that socialist yellow brick road, libs. The HillaryWiz will give you everything you want (and a lot that you don't want, too).

Helicopter Hitlery
From the title of this column, I thought it would be MUCH longer :)!

Hitlery is a contemptible in SOOO many ways. She is an Off-the-Charts Control Freak. She is SURE we are too stupid to take care of ourselves. She makes MILLIONS on books, lectures, etc. Then turns around and trashes ANYONE else who does likewise. She is a truly Evil, Despicable, Hypocritical, Witch!

LD, ANOTHER CLASSIC!

World's smartest woman?
What has Mrs. Clinton done to earn this description? Can anybody think of anything she has said or done that is so groundbreaking, original, or distinctive that it would justify such a decription?

Compared to a number of women (Phyllis Schlafly comes to mind) she is somewhere between irrational and dull normal.

Mrs. Clinton has risen to the stature of Presidential candidate by hitching her wagon to her charismatic husband's star. Along the way she has demonstrated, as Parker says, that she is cold, ruthless, manipulative, and dishonest.

She also has demonstrated she is incapable of learning the lessons of history. She has failed to learn the concept of peace through strength as taught by Reagan. She has failed to learn the incompetence of socialism as demonstrated by a 70-year experiment in it in Russia, 50+ years of it in China, 50+ years of it in Korea, 47 years of it in Cuba, and 30+ years of it in Vietnam.

She has failed to learn from her own failure in national health insurance.

She has failed to learn that over-regulation leads to shortages, as was demonstrated by the gasoline shortages of the 1970's.

To say Mrs. Clinton is the "smartest" woman in the world is to insult the entire female gender.

republican/democrat or hillary

Why do people dislike Hillary?
Why do people dislike Hillary Clinton? What a silly question! The tough question is, why would anyone LIKE her?

I don't care much for Larry the Cable Guy; he's a little too vulgar for my taste. Yet he I did hear him say something that I thought was rather profound. He said, "If you don't have at least one true friend in this world, then your name is probably Hillary Clinton."

I want to respond to this statement you made:

"To say Mrs. Clinton is the "smartest" woman in the world is to insult the entire female gender."

Here's my response: AMEN!!!!

WE NEED TERM LIMITS
When will democrats start governing for the people and the freedoms our country was founded to protect? They are instead governing to increase their voting base and continue to create a larger and larger indentured base of government dependents.

This will not change until we get TERM LIMITS. This will allow better candidates to rise to the top because they feel the country needs them and they know they are notmaking a life long decision. It will reduce the impact of the bought candidate and the frivolous federal spending to by votes. It is absolutley necessary to restore a ruling class that makes decisions based upon the health and well being of the country and its citizens instead of their political parties.

Still don't get it
From the polling data I have read, it seems like the democrats nominating Hilary is the best chance that the Repubs have in the next election. This is because it would "ignite the republican base" to "get out the misogynous vote". Obama or Edwards do not invoke as much negative passion among repubs so the polling data seems to suggest that many more repubs would stay home on voting day if they were the nominees. So, again, it seems to me that it is misguided to be a good repub and be against Hilary, since it is the repubs best hope.

Personally, I hope Hilary is beaten in the primaries cause I think she is too polarising and the last thing this country needs is another G.W. Bush (the most polarising president ever).

Anyway, that's my two cents.

Ronald Reagan A Time for Choosing
Ronald Reagan A Time for Choosing
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4770988975023965161

Words for thought. Seems to me we have forgotten what this country was all about.

"freedoms...founded to protect"
Bill,

Consider this. Neither Social Security nor entitlements are mentioned anywhere in the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution. Yet 63% of our annual budget goes for SS and entitlements.

If 63% of spending is for these programs then, logically, this is 63% of what government does.

And these are the Democrats signature programs.

Connecting the dots, we quickly (and logically) arrive at the conclusion that the essence of the Democrats' policies are to convert government from a body that provides the limited, basic
functions that are assigned to it by the Constitution to a domineering social engineering bureaucracy.

Thus they can NEVER "start governing" for these freedoms. If they did that they would no longer be Democrats.

And Hillary....
...will still be a socialist.

That ain't no "conspiracy theory", that's the truth.

As far as Hillary returning to the White House, unless some kook like Ron Paul is nominated, that is unlikely to happen. She's seen too negatively in the public, and even the most left wing out there admits she's a socialist. Your repeated "Nuh uhs!" can't change that.

And if the Democrats are dumb enough to nominate Hillary, you're going to see her get crushed by the mounds of evidence and insinuation of the crimes her and her family are alleged to have committed. You'll be seeing ads bringing up the Rose Law Firm billing documents that IRREFUTABLY proved that she was one of the masterminds of Whitewater, which resulted in the theft of the life savings of dozens of mostly poor and elderly people. It doesn't matter that she was never convicted (because of a technicality -- the subpeonaed documents that proved her guilt were hidden until the statute of limitations expired).

So, go ahead, nominate Hillary -- a CRIMINAL. The campaign against her will make that against John Kerry seem like a walk in the park. She'll be torn down so badly, she'll be lucky if she doesn't join the 1-for-50 Democrat Hall of Shame.

"The Clintons were cleared for filegate, and they had every right to fire the travel staff..."

OJ was "claered" of murder. That doesn't mean he didn't commit 2 murders, though.

beowulfe
Why do you say Ron Paul is a kook? He's a staunch defender of the Constitution and is 100% conservative.

"Connecting the dots, we quickly (and logically) arrive at the conclusion that the essence of the Democrats' policies are to convert government from a body that provides the limited, basic

Yup and it sounds exactly like what the Republican front-runners support too. They're no better than their socialist counterparts in the Democratic party.

Liberty
"Why do you say Ron Paul is a kook? He's a staunch defender of the Constitution and is 100% conservative."

I hate to criticize a Republican, but anybody who tries to blame our nation for 9/11 qualifies as a kook. I've only seen him in one debate, but I already think he's only a few notches above Rosie O'Donnell.

Robert
Yes, Hillary is smart, but she's also a Communist. What's your deal, Robert... do you think you're going to be on the winning side of things when our country falls? Is that what you think? Well, you'd better think again.

wiseone
I understand and agree. I feel the only hope to slow the march of the socialist Democrat is to remove the inherent career building that the expansion of the government welfare system provides. I feel Term Limits provide a hope that people will serve in order to serve their counrty instead of themselves.

Hellary & Loyal Demorat -both disgusting
Both are collectivists; Hellary, however, wants to be like the "Soviet - style masters" - priviledge for the rulers, stand in line and eat gruel for the "common people".

When talking about oil company profits, she said "I will take that money and ... " - who cares what comes next, it says volumes about what she thinks about the free enterprise system. When talking about raising taxes "on the rich", she says much the same. She is a hard-core leftist, a wolf in sheeps' clothing, but she can't keep her mouth shut, and we KNOW what she's thinking while she's lying to us. We KNOW!!

AMERICA please do not make a mistake.
At first I was exited that a woman was running for President and when Hilary opened her mouth I was so disappointed. I know many women will be voting for her just because she is a woman, just like Hispanics vote for a Hispanic just because of his last name they do not look at the issues, a white man could be defending the issues they want but instead they still vote ignorantly. So I hope all women out there vote on the issues and not on the sex gender. I just think Hilary is a hypocrite when she is in the south she changes her accent just to fit in depending where she is giving her speech this is just ridiculous. Anyways I will not be voting for her this coming election, and concerning all the issues mentioned in the article…yes, she is contradicting herself so AMERICA please do not make a mistake.

Dr. Paul did NOT blame America. He said our foreign policy over the last 50 years led to anti-Americanism. That in no way justifies what the islamo-crazies did on 9-11. What it does do however, is encourage us to look at what is motivating our enemy. Last I knew, that was the best way to beat them.

Dr. Paul told us the truth. It may not be something we wanted to hear, but there it is. He didn't dream it up; his words are substantiated by the 911 Commission Report, CIA Intelligence, Paul Wolfowitz and foreign relations experts.

I realize this is going to be a long post, and I apologize for that in advance, but it is rather disturbing to me that there are still folks that have not checked into the facts.

Please read this...

CLIFF’S NOTES FOR RUDY
"His [bin Laden’s] rhetoric selectively draws from multiple sources -- Islam, history, and the region's political and economic malaise. He also stresses grievances against the United States widely shared in the Muslim world. He inveighed against the presence of U.S. troops in Saudi Arabia, the home of Islam's holiest sites. He spoke of the suffering of the Iraqi people as a result of sanctions imposed after the Gulf War..."-- 9/11 Commission Report, pages 48-49
"There are a lot of things that are different now [after the invasion of Iraq], and one that has gone by almost unnoticed -- but it's huge -- is that by complete mutual agreement between the US and the Saudi government we can now remove almost all of our forces from Saudi Arabia. Their presence there over the last 12 years has been a source of enormous difficulty for a friendly government. It's been a huge recruiting device for al-Qaeda. In fact if you look at bin Laden, one of his principle grievances was the presence of so- called crusader forces on the holy land, Mecca and Medina. I think just lifting that burden from the Saudis is itself going to open the door to other positive things."-- Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz, Vanity Fair, May 2003
"One of the greatest dangers for Americans in deciding how to confront the Islamist threat lies in continuing to believe -- at the urging of senior U.S. leaders -- that Muslims hate and attack us for what we are and think, rather than for what we do. The Islamic world is not so offended by our democratic system of politics, guarantees of personal rights and civil liberties, and separation of church and state that it is willing to wage war against overwhelming odds in order to stop Americans from voting, speaking freely, and praying, or not, as they wish."-- Michael Scheuer (former head the CIA's bin Laden unit), Imperial Hubris, page 8
"We assume, moreover, that bin Laden and the Islamists hate us for our liberty, freedoms, and democracy -- not because they and many millions of Muslims believe U.S. foreign policy is an attack on Islam or because the U.S. military now has a ten-year record of smashing people and things in the Islamic world."-- Michael Scheuer (former head the CIA's bin Laden unit), Imperial Hubris, page 165
"The U.S. invasion of Iraq is Osama bin Laden's gift from America, one he has long and ardently desired, but never realistically expected."-- Michael Scheuer (former head the CIA's bin Laden unit), Imperial Hubris, page 213
"Although suicide terrorism is virtually always a response to foreign occupation, only some occupations lead to this result. Suicide terrorism is most likely when the occupying power's religion differs from the religion of the occupied, for three reasons. A conflict across a religious divide increases fears that the enemy will seek to transform the occupied society; makes demonization, and therefore killing, of enemy civilians easier; and makes it easier to use one's own religion to relabel suicides that would otherwise be taboo as martyrdom instead."-- Robert A. Pape, Dying to Win, page 22
"An attempt to transform Muslim societies through regime change is likely to dramatically increase the threat we face. The root cause of suicide terrorism is foreign occupation and the threat that foreign military presence poses to the local community's way of life. ... Even if our intentions are good, anti-American terrorism would likely grow, and grow rapidly."-- Robert A. Pape, Dying to Win, page 245
"The suicidal assassins of September 11, 2001 did not 'attack America,' as political leaders and news media in the United States have tried to maintain; they attacked American foreign policy. Employing the strategy of the weak, they killed innocent bystanders, whose innocence is, of course, no different from that of the civilians killed by American bombs in Iraq, Serbia, Afghanistan, and elsewhere."-- Chalmers Johnson, Blowback, page XV
"The term 'blowback,' which officials of the Central Intelligence Agency first invented for their own internal use, is starting to circulate among students of international relations. It refers to the unintended consequences of policies that were kept secret from the American people. What the daily press reports as the malign acts of 'terrorists' or 'drug lords' or 'rogue states' or 'illegal arms merchants' often turn out to be blowback from earlier American operations."-- Chalmers Johnson, Blowback, page 8

Granted, Ron Paul and the others may not have INTENDED to blame America, but it sounds to me like they're doing exactly that.

Black Dog
I don't know where you're getting your information, but the Right hasn't done a blessed thing to keep blacks from gaining ground. Rather, it's the Democrats who insist on the inferiority of the black community, and who insist on continuing policies that have historically kept blacks in poverty. Republicans have consistently favored whatever policy grants the black community the same rights, privileges, and access that every other citizen has, and tells it, "Come join us at the table."

This is why the blacks amoung conservatives are such an impressive bunch. Condi Rice, Thomas Sowell, JC Watts, Colin Powell, Clarence Thomas -- all at the top of their fields, all highly accomplished, and all got there with a minimum of government help. Contrast these giants to such human detritus as Al Sharpton, William Jefferson, or Cynthia McKinney, race hustlers and charlatans. The contrast is stark and appalling.

This is also why blacks will never have access to the top of the Democrat party, despite the fact that without 85% black support, the Democrats would never win an election in America. Go ask the Democrat members of the Congressional Black Caucus whether they're taken seriously by the party or not. And ask, also, why Sen Biden's staff is lilly-white, Sen Boxer's staff is lilly-white, Sen Kerry's presidential campaign was lilly-white, Sen Gore's campaign was lilly-white, etc.

Simple fact is, man, you don't know who your friends are.

By the way: the relevant fact about the Travel Office firings, that you seem to be ignoring, is that Hillary USED THE FBI TO FALSELY ACCUSE THE TRAVEL OFFICE EMPLOYEES OF FRAUD. If she'd just fired them, it's nothing but nepotism. But the truth is a great deal worse -- she used the privileged power of law enforcement to oppress ordinary, innocent citizens. That's, combined with the Ruby Ridge, Waco, and Elian Gonzales instances, lead us to warn that if we allow Hillary access to the power of government, we can all kiss our Constitutional liberties goodbye.

Shrillary and LD
The way things work out, I can foresee that LD will have the new position of czar of political correctness under a Hillary Clinton tyrany. Oops! I meant to say secretary of political correctness.

Robert
communist, socialist or whatever crappy handle you want to hang on her, she's un-AMERICAN!!!!

beowolf: If Sen. Clinton is a criminal
Why is it she has never been indicted for commiting a crime?

Danny
Bad news...

Rudy is NOT a Republican...

although he DOES play one on TV.

"Why Americans Don't Like Hillary"
Isn't that kind of a propagandistic title? Since Hillary Clinton is the Demcratic front-runner, it seems that some AMERICANS like her just fine. "Why CONSERVATIVES Don't Like Hillary" might be more accurate.

Left Angle
She was, but the people who were to testify against her either had a change of mind, ended up dead, or somebody close to them ended up dead. One of the people who went up against the Clintons commited suicide... by shooting himself in the BACK of his head execution style (Yes they ruled it a suicide).

Hitlary should be in jail. If she wins then a bloody revoultion might come to this country soon.

Why Ron Paul is a kook:
He's a Libertarian. Nuff said.

Once upon a time, I was a Libertarian myself. They I graduated the 10th grade.

A few years back, in 2002, I ended up going to the Libertarian Party Massachusetts convention where I had the opportunity to speak with, and debate with the then Libertarian candidate for president. Following the 9/11 attack, this yo-yo maintained the Libertarian Party policy position of the open border policy, and even worse, the practical elimination of the national defense.

While in an ideal world where there aren't 1 billion people out there looking to murder us all, an open border policy would likely work in cunjunction with the Libertarian Party (LP) policy position of eliminating, or at least greatly reducing, the "freebies" our government hands out to stupid people.

However, we do not live in the LP fantasy land. We live in a world where there are a billion people out there that would lunge at any opportunity to kill us all. Therefore the open border policy supported by the LP is nothing but a suicide pact.

Their policy of practically eliminating the standing military is equally insane. We are the richest nation on the planet, and thus have many things that other nations would like to take away from us. Without a strong defense, even those nations some might consider allies with the US would be inclined to take our weekness as an opportunity to snatch away this nations many resources. Never in the history of humankind has the lack of defenses led to anything but outright annihilation of the defensless.

By my understanding, Ron Paul holds both of these policy positions, both of which, in my opinion, are kooky (and suicidal). I agree with Paul on most every issue, at least economically speaking, but because of these two positions, I would never vote for him for president.

Al Capone...
...was never even indicted for murder. He got nabbed for tax evasion. Are you, Lefty, trying to tell me that just because Capone was never indicted, that means he never killed anyone?

Just because she successfully escaped prosecution because she violated a subpeona doesn't make her innocent of the charges. It just means she has high-paid lawyers that can get her off.

Now if you think that it really matters to voters that she was never indicted, I think you should look at Ted Kennedy as a counter example. Kennedy was never charged with the death of Kopechne (ok, I butchered the spelling, but you know who I mean), but there certainly exists significant evidence to suggest that he could have been charged. It was that that forced Kennedy to scrap his run for president. He'd have been slammed with the accusations of that homicide even though he was never charged.

LeftAngle...
Wrote: "If Sen. Clinton is a criminal

In the Whitewater case, it was because the prosecutor believed her alternative explanation: namely, that she had prepared a fraudulent document because she was INCOMPETENT. You read that correctly. The possibilities were 1) deliberate fraud, or 2) sheer incompetence. She pleaded incompetence, and the prosecutor believed her.

Do you?

lilly
Uh, lilly, did you get lost and just happen to land here? In case you didn't know, this is a right-wing blog. If you don't like the title, I suggest you go a left-wing blog. On a left-wing blog, the title would be "Why Americans don't want Hillary?" I happen to know many liberals, including women, who love Hillary, but believe it is political suicide to nominate her. They don't believe she can win and are looking for a less-polarizing candidate.

lilly
BTW, I for one want nothing more than for Hillary to be nominated for the same reason I just stated.

Black Dog?
Hmmnnn. Interesting handle. That is the only thing about your posts that is interesting. I am seventy-two years old. I am an American of African descent. Not African-American. Not Afro-American, and certainly not a Democrat. Not anymore.

You wrote "... or perhaps they are still complaining because the opposition party does all it can to ensure that the wrongs of the past are not rectified".

What an incredibly stupid thing to say. What world do you live in? Be specific. I defy you to give one concrete example of the "opposition party" doing anything to ensure that the wrongs of the past are not rectified.

People like you are so blinded by hatred over past injustices that you are incapable of rational thought. The kind of drivel you spout should be an embarrassment to you, but I am sure it is not. Too bad. Just give some examples to support your stupid assertions.

Economics
Do ya'll think someone as presumably smart as Hillary doesn't understand economics? I just don't get it. I know I probably have studied Econ more than most...but for someone with such a good chance of becoming president, having such little Economic understanding amazes me. Or is it that she understands but knows that most don't, so she throws out this government style all for one, one for all stuff despite the implausibility of it?

hillary indictments etc...
all of that stuff you repubs/cons are mentioning as reasons not to vote for Sen. Clinton, (supposed criminal activiy, investigation, high negatives labeling her socialist/communist) should she win the dem prez nomination is old news and largely irrevelant to her supporters.
It's the same ole conspiracy theories, different day.

What you repubs/cons should be more concerned about is the following:

Your weak field of candidates also...btw

Isnt Guiliani a cross dresser? i thought for sure i saw a picture of him dressed in leotard, stockings and heels dancing as a Rockette..lol

keeping it simple here
Hillary to me is the WIFE I would never wish on anyone except the guy she married, and that's the truth.
I often wonder how during their conversations they ever determine when they are truthful, but I don't think they give a ratz a#@, do you?

Black Dog, avoids the issues
I notice that you complete avoided my explanation of how the Republicans have encouraged the best in the black community, while the Democrats have supported policies that keep the blacks poor, enslaved, and powerless. So perhaps you'd care to defend the Democrats' policy of appeasing the Congressional Black Caucus while offering them no stake in the party, or the consistent phenomenon of Democrat candidates with pure white staffs.

I'm waiting.

You did observe the following:

"They're against any form of affirmative action."

Yes -- because it's the OPPOSITE of fairness. No other racial or national group required special treatment to succeed in America and -- here's the important point -- THE BLACKS DON'T NEED IT, EITHER. Blacks have already progressed into the middle class and beyond; in fact, the disparity between white and black income was already close to disappearing before the Civil Rights Act, until the Great Society created a near-permanent underclass of poor blacks.

"They're against any form of reparations."

Yep. And will continue to be. No reparation scheme could POSSIBLY be fair, or even remotely sensible.

Tell you what: when you support reparations for MY ancestors from the Cossacks, who drove them out of Europe around the turn of the 20th century, and from the ROMANS, who enslaved my ancestors en masse around the 1st century, and from the Catholics, who persecuted my ancestors through the middle ages, THEN I'll consider supporting reparations for blacks. Until then, you try to touch a DIME of my money, I shoot you in the freakin' head; my ancestors were in Europe (being ridden down by Cossacks, and having their farms burned) while yours were being freed by white troops from the Union.

The world is an unfair place. Nobody pays you back for injustice. You just do the best you can with what you got. Same as everybody else. You don't think so? Time to grow up...

Oh, and the predictable lie:

"...Souther Dixiecrats - we all know they were Republicans in waiting..."

Not even close. The Reagan Democrats who became Republicans were primarily YOUNGER voters. The Dixiecrats, for the most part, remained Democrats until they died.

Get a clue, Black Dog. You don't know who your friends are.

Black Dog
You claim:

"Ruby Ridge - White Supremist (i.e. terrorist) Randy Weaver holes up to evade federal prosecution and his family buys the farm...

boo hoo.."

Name one terrorist crime that Randy Weaver had ever been indicted on or convicted of prior to being "set up" by BATF officials who wanted him to work for them as an informer.

If you are claiming some kind of guilt by association, then I guess that you would agree that all members of the black panthers were terrorists. All Rap artists are thugs and murderers.

"Waco - Christian terrorist and child abuser refuses to do the right thing, murders his own people - the right cheers for Koresh (figures, they only hate Muslim extremeists)"

During the trials for the "survivors" of the Janet Reno raid, the Prosecution was never able to prove any of the allegations of child abuse. You apparently believe that it was ok for Janet Reno to kill the children in the compound to "save" them from "alleged, not proven" abuse?

You don't have a clue dude.

Black Dog and the Hillary crimes...
Explain to me why you think you can have liberty for yourself and your friends, while not defending it for people who believe things you abhor.

Liberty is safe when it's safe for everybody. If you only defend proper treatment for people who believe like you, you have no grounds for defense when those who oppressed your adversaries turn on you.

So, you don't agree that the Branch Davidians deserved better than having their compound rolled with tanks? You don't think the Gonzales family deserved observance of the court order that forbade the INS SWAT team from invading their home?

Then you don't deserve your own liberty. You're just a tyrant in sheep's clothing.

Hey Lefty....
Perhaps you ought to contact "Doctor" Dean and ask him for another dose of koolaid. Your talking points list has been exhausted, and now you're remanded cut-and-pasting.

Reasons to dislike Hitlery
Lilly The Looney Lib would have us believe that only “evil right wingers” dislike Hitlery. Not so Looney Lilly. One of the many non partisan” reason for disliking Hitlery is some of the racist remarks she’s been overheard making. One notable remark was reported by the NY Times where-is she was her referred to a Prominent Jewish Congressman as “That “f**king kike”. Most Jews tend to be Democrats. So her remark would tend to alienate many Dems. as well. Then there are her numerous overheard references to “Ni**ers” who also tend to vote Democratic. So Id say there are a lot of folks on Both sides of the fence who have good reason to dislike Hitlery. Even if she wasn't a Communist, she's a racist. Good enough reason for Anyone to dislike her.

Clintons
I find some of these comments interesting. For one, "they had every right to fire the travel staff...". Well, actually, THEY didn't - HE did. All these Hillary apologists think she was already president once, in which case she shouldn't even be running, by the 22nd Amendment.

As far as "not being convicted of anything", it amuses me that this is the highest praise the Clinton disciples can shower on their Messiahs. High praise indeed. If I had files for two years that I "couldn't find", and then shazam, they turned up in my house - unmodified, no doubt - I could probably avoid being convicted of anything, too. I wonder if the shredders were taxpayer-funded.

And finally, most people writing these articles, as mentioned, are NOT conservatives. When a woman changes her last name back and forth on a whim, says she won't "Stand by Her Man" and then does just that, and runs for Senate in a state she's not even from, it's easy to doubt her sincerity. She is a chameleon bent on gaining and keeping power. Some of us just see through it easier than others.

And finally, back to Travelgate
You didn't deny that Hillary sicked the FBI on innocent people in an attempt to cover up plain, ol' nepotism. You know it's true. So where's your outrage?

How is it that the Left can claim Bush is shredding the Constitution over allowing reviews of what LIBRARY BOOKS you're checking out, but won't make a peep when Democrats actually use the power of law enforcement for genuine corruption? Do you REALLY think we won't notice what hypocrites you are?

Randy Weaver
Randy Weaver was not a supremicist, but a separatist, and was not and is not a terrorist. He was persecuted mainly because he refused to participate as an informant to the Skin Heads, which he opted not to join to begin with. As a matter of fact, the crime that he was charged with -- illegally selling a shotgun whose overall length was 3/5ths of an inch too short without paying the $5 tax -- he was found not guilty, and that Weaver was awarded $1 million in a separate civil case against the government for the murder of his family.

Black Dog
"They're against any form of affirmative action.
They're against any form of reparations."

44 years of affirmative action. How many more years do you need to compete on a, to use a favorite Jesse Jackson phrase, level playing field?

Reparation? Black Dog, you were never my slave. I owe you nothing.

Giuliani: In Drag As a Rockette?
This is the guy that's front runner for the prez nomination for the republican party? Jeezzz

for a look at Rudy G's great gams...check this site out and scroll down. will make a great campaign poster..lmao

http://www.bookofjoe.com/2007/03/19/index.html

Black Dog
Nothing does the African American community more harm that Affirmative Action.

Reperations? 40 acres and a mule divided up amoung the decidents would be more like 40 cents and a hamster... if you are lucky.

What about other Demo policy that hurts African Americans? Supporting the teachers union and fighting against school choice! Getting kids out of failing schools and into places where they can be safe and learn!

Failure to privatize Social Security. With African Americans typically having shorter life spans than whites, if you die before before you collect what you paid in... your family gets NOTHING! Black America are the ones funding SS and the GOP are the ONLY ones trying to fix it!

Abortion. An overwhelming % of abortions are by African Americans. Democrats are pushing for the murder of your young and making it out to be ok.

If you want to sit on your tail and get a hand out while the quality of life all around you goes down the drain to that of rationing for food and medicine, then please keep voting Democrat.

If Hitlary wins, we need to have all Conservative states succeed from the union.

Republicans in waiting?
"While the early resistence to the civil rights movement came from Souther Dixiecrats - we all know they were Republicans in waiting..."

Huh, interesting. Why, then, did the few Democrats who did switch parties (nearly all of them left politics altogether, only a few of note switched) publicly denounce their racist past? Strom Thurmond did.

Yet the only Klansman in elected office today, Robert Byrd, never did. He only mentioned that his membership in the Klan was a mistake -- and that came after his failed attempt at running for president. He thinks it was a mistake because it kept him out of the White House.

The Republican Party's founding principle was the abolition of slavery. The Party was formed by disgruntled Democrats and Whigs following the passage of the Kansas-Nebrasta Act which expanded slavery to the western territories. Throughout the Party's history, they've stood firm in their belief in treating people equally, regardless of skin color.

The same cannot be said of the Democratic Party. Democrats voted unanimously against the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments to the Constitution, imposed Jim Crowe laws, and opposed the Civil Rights Act in the 1950s and 1960s. The only Ku Klux Klan member to be elected president (Harry Truman) was a Democrat. The only Supreme Court justice who was a Klansman (Hugo Black) was appointed by a Democrat.

To this very day, Democrats are staunch supporters of policies that have been and continue to be aimed at harming blacks. They, for example, are a huge supporter of Planned Parenthood and abortion, even though PP was founded by a woman (Margaret Sanger) who thought abortion should be used as a means of getting rid of the "black, brown, and yellow races" (her words, not mine). They support the minimum wage which has a long history of being used as a tool to price the lower skilled minorities out of work (the very first minimum wage in the US was imposed on the construction sector because poor blacks were migrating north and displacing the higher paid whites). Democrats support affirmative action policies which are based upon the belief that blacks are too stupid to compete fairly with whites.

It ain't the Republicans who are the racists, but Democrats.

Black Dog
It would be nice if you could how you would use reparation money to improve the lot of black folks in this country.

As hound dog wrote, "44 years of affirmative action. How many more years do you need to compete on a, to use a favorite Jesse Jackson phrase, level playing field?"

Prior to this 44 years of AA, black students had better records of scholastic achievement. Higher rates of graduation from high school, lower rates of illegitimacy.

Prior to LBJ's great society Affirmative Action debacle, the rate of children born out of wedlock was about 10 percent, now it is 85 to 90 percent.

So, please explain that being that you have p-i-s-s-e-d away 44 years of AA, how you would turn this around with more money.

Weird Angle
Why are you always LYAO? Too much nitrous oxide? Were you LYAO when you read about Cold Cash Jefferson's indictment? Looks like Nancy P has really cleaned up Capitol Hill. Maybe that's why Congress' approval rating is lower than Bush's, a Herculean achievement.

loyal dems satire
i MUST say that i can recognize satire............but what was written is how A LOT of people really think! its damn scary!

Black Dog's Black Myths
Fact: George Wallace NEVER joined the GOP. In fact, he was the last open segregationist to win a Presidential Primary -- in the DEMOCRAT Party. 1972 wasn't that long ago, either...

Fact: 100% of the KKK members (also officers and recruiters) currently in the US Senate are DEMOCRATS. In fairness, Byrd CLAIMS he's a FORMER member.

Other people have done a great job dismantling the rest of his dis-info; just wanted to make those 2 points.

Hillary is actually kind of attractive
in a trashy, slutty, disgusting, rosie o'donnell kind of way

AZPhil: Politicians...
get caught doing stuff like that throughout history. What's Pelosi supposed to do?
babysit GROWN people? get real.

I laugh because a lot of what i read in here from th regulars is hillarious.

Loyal Democrat

Your statement Americans "...should not pursue their own dreams" flies in the face of reason. To cite but one example, had the Wright brothers NOT "pursued their own dreams", mankind might well remain be earthbound. (Although you just might think this a good thing!)

As for '.,,all economic systems based on the ideal of colectivism have prospered magnificently...." Do you mean like the economy of North Korea?

LeftAngle
Wrote: "Politicians get caught doing stuff like that throughout history. What's Pelosi supposed to do? babysit GROWN people? get real."

So... she runs on a platform of cleaning up the corrupt, Republican House, and wins... and then does nothing to improve the situation...

...and your explanation is "she can't babysit grown people."

Can you explain why it's not correct now to say "Pelosi was Lying Through Her Teeth when she ran?" and "All Democrats are liars?" and "Democrats are arguably MORE corrupt than the people they replaced?"

ROBERT ME FISRT TYPE GUY!
Read the numbers since we now buy products from China and drove down wages with illegal immigrants. BTW you may not care since you seem like a selfish me generation type guy who careless about our kids future!

America Is Drowning In Debt

Do you think America can sustain running up national and consumer debt at this pace?

EC-We are now importing more and producing less each year while continuing to sell off more of our large companies (See the list of companies sold). Our tax base has receded and we now have fewer American owned companies remaining to produce wealth and generate taxes.

Our government now must borrow more (See the list of countries to whom we are indebted) to continue to operate and pay its bills. This has impacted every level of our economy.

Living on ever increasing debt since 1987:

• Home mortgages from $1.8 trillion to $8.2 trillion
• Consumer debt from $2.7 trillion to $11 trillion
• Government debt limit recently increased to $8.9 trillion
• Household debt has quadrupled
• The 2006 balance of trade deficit (debt) of $765 billion, equals over $1.4 million dollars leaving the country every minute to pay for excessive imports.

Balance of trade deficits (The means through which foreign countries accumulate our money to buy us out)

• 2001 - $363 billion = $690,000 per minute
• 2002 - $421 billion = $801,000 per minute
• 2003 - $495 billion = $942,000 per minute
• 2004 - $611 billion = $1,200,000 per minute
• 2005 - $711 billion = $1,400,000 per minute
• 2006 - $765 billion = $1,450,000 per minute

Hillary would be more popular
If she would wear a burka and move to Iran and apply for Iranian citizenship. She could take Bill clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Diane Fienstien, and john murtha with her.

What's she to do?
"What's Pelosi supposed to do?"

Firsty, she could stop breaking the law herself, but she's a Democrat so that would never happen.

But if she DID want to do something about other's criminal behavior, she could just do what Republicans have done in the past in situations like this: Either pressure the guy to resign, or if he refuses introduce articles in congress to have him removed.

Fact checker for John Konop
"We are now importing more and producing less each year while continuing to sell off more of our large companies (See the list of companies sold)."

Sorry, untrue. We are not producing less, we are producing more than we've ever produced in the past. We simply import more than we export, which is a characteristic to virtually every country with decent economic growth. That we are so wealthy we can purchase from other nations so much stuff is not, in and of itself, a dispositive sign.

But then one must ask how you can come to the conclusion that the trade deficit has anything to do with debt, which it does not.

You mention all kinds of things about individual's debt, but fail to also mention the value of individuals' assets, which are also at an all-time high. In fact, total net worth -- that is asset value minus total debt -- is at an all-time high. Those who are richer can also shoulder more debt.

I posited this question a few years back to some kooky commie that couldn't understand this point:

Person #1 earns $5 million a year, and has $1 million in debt.
Person #2 earns $40,000 a year and has $150,000 in debt.

Who is financially better off?

Using your biased model of only considering debt, person #2 is better off, but if you ask person #2 what he thinks, it is pretty clear he'd rather be person #1.

Setting the record straight, Part 1
Ruby Ridge:

Jeffrey Weaver was charged with selling a sawed-off shotgun to an undercover ATF agent at a gun show. When he was arraigned the judge erroneously told him he and his family would lose their home if he was found guilty. His 14-year old son, his wife, and the family dog were killed during the seige of his home by ATF agents. His son killed one ATF and seriously wounded another before being killed.

When Weaver was finally brought to trial the charges were dismissed because the trial judge ruled that Weaver was entrapped. That means that the court ruled that Weaver would not have sold anyone a sawed-offshotgun if an undercover ATF agent hadn't talked him into it.

This incident occurred during the administraion of George H. W. Bush, not Bill Clinton.

Guilty until proven Innocent?
i can understand it..thats the way repubicans think. I say let the legal process run it's course then deal with it..

by the way didnt jeffersons "alleged" transgressions take place BEFORE Pelosi became house speaker?

Correction
"Jeffrey Weaver was charged with selling a sawed-off shotgun to an undercover ATF agent at a gun show."

Wasn't it Randy Weaver?

Point being?
"Guilty until proven Innocent?
i can understand it..thats the way repubicans think. I say let the legal process run it's course then deal with it.."

ROFL! And I'm betting dollars to donuts that you were exstatic when you heard DeLay resigned after being dogged for months in the media about his alleged corruption. Last I heard, most of the charges levied against him were dropped, and the prosecutor was still violating Texas law by refusing to divulge the evidence of the last remaining charges. Oh, but that's different because he's a Republican, right?

"by the way didnt jeffersons "alleged" transgressions take place BEFORE Pelosi became house speaker?"

Uh, what's your point? She can still do the right thing and pressure him into resigning. Now that he's indicted, it is likely she'll even have enough support from her own party to have him removed. I would guess that there are plenty of Democrats who would be uncomfortable running for re-election when THEY are now the target of the "culture of corruption" charges.

Loyal Democrat...
Thank you - you crack me up.

THIGH MASTER: I'm gonna...
ignore what youre saying because it really makes you sound ignorant. the criminal justice system doesnt that way in the u.s. work that way and you know it..but's thats the way you repubs/cons
operate like i said..backwards..

guilty until proven innocent...

yeah right.

Strange Angle
when a Republican says something stupid (like Trent Lott about Strom Thurmond, which wasn't even that bad), they are taken to task by their own party. When Duke Cunningham got convicted (rightly) and sent to prison, Republicans were embarrassed by it and did not question the law. When Nixon was in deep trouble, Republicans, including Goldwater, informed him that he had lost their support and that he had to go.

So to answer your question, Nancy "Culture of Corruption" Pelosi doesn't have to babysit adults, but she can acknolwledge wrongdoing within her own party. Oh, I forgot, Democrats are incapable of that. There's too much edfining what "is" is, and other nit-picky ploys they use. This gasbag pledged to come in and clean up Congress like she's Wyatt Earp or somebody, then when one of her own gets caught with $90K in his freezer, what does she do? Not a thing! Very impressive, Mrs Samoan-hater!

beowolf. that your partie sproblem..
they threw delay to the wolves without letting the legal process run it's course for political expediency...like i said its the republican way..
guilty unitl proven innocent..even for their own kind.

Setting the record straight, Part 2
Waco:

Despite his botched handling of the Ruby Ridge episode, the same FBI supervisor was assigned to Waco.

The Branch Davidians were charged with illegal possession of firearms. There were no child molestation charges at issue.

Despite claims by the FBI/ATF that the Davidians fired first, physical evidence at the scene, including bullet holes in the front door that were made by INCOMING fire, indicated that the FBI/ATF fired first on the initial assault in February of 1993. The 911 tapes from that date show conclusively that the Davidians were under fire and withheld returning fire for more than 20 minutes while they tried to call 911 and get the FBI/ATF to stop shooting.

When the Davidians finally began to return fire they kicked the FBI/ATF's butts. The initial exchange ended with FBI/ATF agents retreating, hands raised, with their ammo exhausted, begging the Davidians not to shoot them. This was recorded on video by a local news station. The Davidians allowed them to reteat. It was far more mercy than the FBI/ATF would return in a couple months.

Contrary to the government's claim that the Davidians set fire to their own compound on April 21, 1993, essentially committing suicide, the ensuing investigation showed that the fire was caused by the insertion of a highly volatile chemical into the compound by a government tank. Infra-red video from that day shows machine gun fire directed at the compound from the area behind the attacking tank, effectively preventing the Davidians from escaping OR surrendering.

The coroner's report showed that many of the victims, women and children, died horrible deaths in which the volatile chemical first caused their muscles to violently and uncontrollably contract, bending them over backwards and breaking bones and nerves in their spinal column while they were still conscious, before causing them to die from choking or burns.

Neither Janet Reno nor Bill Clinton would come to the phone when the FBI supervisor at the scene tried to get authorization for the final assault, so he made this decision on his own.

The government killed 75 people that day, including 19 children and their mothers. All felony charges against the 11 survivors were either dismissed or defeated in court. There is a documentary on cable TV that shows these events, and gives a definite impression that the government's "investigation" of Waco was a whitewash of the FBI, the ATF and janet Reno, who covered for Clinton.

beowulfe
Yes, it was Randy Weaver, not Jeffrey Weaver. I've been watching too much baseball lately.

beowolf: one other thing...
suppose all the charges against delay are dropped. in retrospect then he resigned for NOTHING. Can he get his old job back...?

you tell me.

ThighMaster
The Davidians' compound was hardly a fortress. One section of it was made of concrete and reinforced masonry. The rest was guage-thickness sheetmetal that was easily penetrated with handheld firearms.

For this reason, during the final attack, the women and children were instructed to take refuge in the concrete portion of it, where they were slowly cooked to death.

Koresh was a religious extremist, and made bad decisions. But no one will ever convince me that his arrest on an illegal possession charge was worth the lives of 75 people.

Imagine how the media would excoriate Bush if he did the same thing to a group of radical leftists. Ask yourself if Chuck Schumer, one of the chief white-washers, would defend Bush it such a thing happened.

When pigs fly.

RE: AZPhil
EXACTLY!

Republicans over the years have been effective at policing their own. When one of them does something that is even QUESTIONABLE, but not illegal, (Mark Foley, for example), they are capable of doing what is right by dumping the person. They know that integrity means something.

Democrats, though, have NEVER, in their entire history, been able to do this. They slither and weasel their way around everything because they know the media would never call them to task on it. Just look at the list of Democrats who have done things that would have gotten ANY Republican booted BY HIS OWN PARTY:

Ted Kennedy -- Call it what you will, but his failure to contact authories when the accident happened is what killed Mary Jo (read the corroners report. She didn't die from drowning, but from asphyxiation due to running out of breathable air as much as 40 minutes AFTER the wreck...she propped herself up in a small air pocket, where she was found the next day by divers).

Bill Clinton -- Raped at least one woman, then perjured himself and obstructed justice, leading to his impeachment.

Hillary Clinton -- Her connections to the Whitewater scandal should have disqualified her from being elected Senator, and had she been a Republican, it WOULD have disqualified her.

Barney Frank -- A prostitution ring was being run out of his apartment.

The late Gerry Studds -- Admitted to screwing around with a 17-year-old, and escaped statitory rape charges only because he lived in one of about 3 states in the nation where it wasn't illegal. Heck, had he brought the kid to DC, he'd have been charged.

Nancy Pelosi -- Got caught red handed giving out bribes to fellow Democrat congressman in exchange for their votes for her for the party leader in the House. She was fined $20,000 by the ethics committee.

Harry Reid -- Dealing with mobsters, real estate scams, and forking over big bucks to family members is only the TIP of the iceberg.

John Murtha -- Abscam .... He told an undercover agent posing as an Arab national that he'd be willing to accept bribes in exchange for favors.

And now William Jefferson -- Caught red-handed with bribery money in his freezer.

In each of the cases, instead of owning up to the crimes and improper behavior, they weaseled out of responsibility based upon some technicality. Kennedy "plea bargained", Bill Clinton claimed "it was all about sex", Hillary has the excuse of being able to hide incriminating evidence until the statute of limitations expired, Frank claims he "didn't know" what was going on in his own home, Studds lived in a backwards state, Pelosi just convinced the media to burry the story (it appeared in only 2 newspapers, the Washington Post, on like page D45, and one other minor local paper), Reid just has good lawyers, Murtha is either in the "I was kidding" boat or just says "but, well, I never did actually accept the bribes" boat depending on the weather, and Jefferson is trying to claim that federal warrants to search congressional offices are unconstitutional (Gee, I wonder where that "you can hide evidence of crimes in your congressional office" clause is? Maybe it's around the "All abortions should be legal and paid for by tax payors" clause.).

Whether there was ACTUAL crimes committed in these cases or not, if the people involved were Republicans, indictments, let alone convictions, would not have been necessary to drive them from office. Criminal behavior is tolerated among Democrats, not Republicans (perhaps thats why nearly 70% of felons would vote Democrat: http://www2.asanet.org/media/felons.html )

Koresh
This man WAS looking for a showdown. As I remember at almost anytime after the fire first started, he could have let those kids out. He and HE alone let those children burn and now I pray he's burning in hell. Not Christian enough for you? I think the lord will forgive me, but I pray my Lord is vengefull enough to never forgive what that man did.

Black Dog is right...
Affirmative action and slave reparations are in order.

Only the racists on the Right think that blacks stand any chance of competing with whites on a level playing field. Democrats understand that blacks are mentally and socially inferior due to genetic and cultural deficiencies, thus they will never be able to survive unless whites offer them handouts. Such needs are met by Democrats who are sympathetic to the needs of the black community, and they strive to make things as easy as possible for blacks to succeed. Without such concessions, no black could ever hope to succeed when matched up against a white, and it is totally racist to expect otherwise. With such support, is it any wonder that blacks readily praise the political party that recognizes their lack of ability and is willing to give them the handouts they desperately need?

As for reparations, it is common knowledge that every black in America is a direct ancestor of a slave, and because of this link, they are far behind whites economically. No black has ever prospered in America, thus proving their slave past is the element that holds them back in school and employment performance. Additionally, if blacks had not been taken as slaves, their ancestors would be living in the paradise that is contemporary Africa, not the cesspool that is the United States.

Travelgate
Re: "The Clintons were cleared for Travelgate..."

The Clintons were never "cleared" because they were never tried. Only Billy Dale of the Travelgate office was ever tried.

As President, Bill Clinton had the authority to remove and replace the seven employees of the White House Travel Office for any reason or no reason if he wanted.

What he did was fire them so the Clintons could give the travel agent work done by that office to friends of theirs from Arkansas.

This was completely legal.

But what the Clintons also did was accuse the seven staff members of malfeasance, and use this as the excuse for firing them because they didn't want to be accused of cronyism.

At the time of the firings there was NO EVIDENCE of any such malfeasance. In fact, Mrs. Clinton did not even send her spy in to begin trying to find an excuse to fire the staff until one week before they were fired.

Upon firing the staff Mrs. Clinton ordered an audit, in which her minions found an excuse to charge Billy Dale with embezzlement. When he finally got his day in court it took the jury less than two hours to return a verdict of "Not guilty".

Now if he could only get his reputation back that quickly...

Hillary reminds me...
...of a line from the musical "Evita."

"How can you say you're our savior
When those who oppose you
Are stepped on, or cut up,
Or simply disappear?"

Shrillry!!
It's frightening to think people buy her rhetoric. She and her husband(?) the worst thing to ever happen to America. LD its nice to see your French hanging out all over. Individual freedom and responsibility, achievement, growth and prosperity, charity and faith, these are things Americans can be proud of. But Hillary's socialist policies will be the undoing of us all if she's elected. Socialized medicine is a failure throughout the world yet she has the balls to think she can take over a huge slice of the private business sector to cater to fools who think healthcare is a right. Healthcare is about personal responsibility. Any ideas coming out of her camp include slicing your paycheck up to 'fairly' distribute it. Beware!! Forewarned is forearmed!

Threw him to the wolves?
Talk about revisionist history!

Republicans stood with DeLay for like 2 years while the media kept slamming him. They just kept repeating the same old garbage, even after most of the charges were dropped. They pounded him until DeLay just called it quits, realizing even if he was found innocent of all charges, that wouldn't matter, and the media would be unlikely to report of his innocence. He quit because it would be better for his party.

That whole DeLay episode is the IRREFUTABLE proof that there is a SEVERE left wing bias in most of the media. DeLay ended up being front-page material on most of the papers nationwide for like 2 months straight, even when no new information on the case came out. They'd just rehash month-old or year-old stories simply so they could keep reprinting the "DELAY/ALL REPUBLICANS = CRIMINALS" headline.

Contrast that with the treatment of William Jefferson. I'll bet that you won't see Jefferson on the cover of, say, the New York Times unless the heading reads "POOR BLACK CONGRESSMAN BEING RAILROADED BY RACIST BUSH JUSTICE DEPARTMENT". This indictment, if it were a Republican, would warrant front-page, above-the-fold coverage, but I guarantee you're more likely to see a headline "PARIS HILTON STILL HAS BLONDE HAIR" on the Times than this.

eastlake joe
Yes, Koresh was an extremist. And he had two months prior to the final assault to surrender.

But the people who stayed in that compound with him did so by choice. He did not order them to stay or order them to die.

Also, as I pointed out, it's hard to surrender when someone is firing in your general direction with machine guns.

I still maintain that regardless of what kind of whacko Koresh was, a gun possession charge was not worth the expense of this seige, let alone the lives of 75 people (not counting the three or four feds that were killed).

This only happened because Clinton was promoting his anti-gun agenda at the time. After he got his whitewash during the investigation he continued his campaign against guns until Tim McVeigh blew up the Alfred P. Murrah Building in Oklahoma City in retaliation.

When it was explained to Clinton that the date of this attack, on the anniversery of Waco, was not a coincidence, Clinton tried to blame Oklahoma City attack on conservative talk radio.

But he did back off from his campaign against guns.

Janet Reno
Speaking of Davidians, does anyone know where homegrown terrorist Janet Reno is nowadays? Haven't heard much from her since losing her party's nomination for governor of Florida five years ago. Who needs Osama when you have Janet. Just ask the survivors of the Davidian and relatives of Elian Gonzalez who the real terrorist is. Watching American soldiers in tanks attacking American citizens was unbelievable. The spineless Republicans not demanding her resignation or prosecution for abuse of power was even more unbelievable.

Re Tom Delay
Tom Delay has done NOTHING illegal.

Delay was effective at keeping the House Republicans in line. This is known as showing a "united front" when the Democrats do it.

Delay resigned his leadership position because the Republicans have a rule that prohibits members who are under indictment from serving in the party leadership.

It took a crooked, partisan prosecutor named Ronnie Earle in Austin, Texas (the same county where the phony Bush Guard documents came from) had to convene SIX grand juries to get an indictment. And then his first indictment was for a 'crime' that wasn't even illegal at the time Delay was alleged to have done it.

Delay's only 'crime'was being an effective Republican leader in DC. And 98% of the leftists who bring him up as an example of Republican corruption can't even name the "crime" he is indicted for.

And Ronnie Earle knows Delay is innocent. That's why he keeps delaying the trial; he knows Delay will be cleared and that's the last thing Earle and the Democrats want.

And beowulfe is right. When Delay is cleared none of the same MSM sources that vilified him will spend ten cents acknowledging they were wrong.
