Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

You would think that even Rosie O'Donnell could grasp that there is indeed a difference between "radical Christianity" and "radical Islam."

No doubt conservative Christian evangelicals were who Rosie had in mind as "radical" Christians.

But, really Rosie, it must mean something, even to you, that no Christian leader has suggested that you be executed, or even that your house should be blown up. You must see some difference between not approving of your views and issuing a contract on your life.

Maybe sometime I'll publish the letters I get from homosexual activists. Some don't sound much different from the stuff coming out of the hills of Afghanistan. In Rosie's vein, I can easily say there isn't much difference between radical Islam and radical homosexual activism.

If we're going to be looking for common ground, I actually see more between so-called radical Muslims and liberals than I do with conservatives.

They share the same unrealistic, childish view of the world driven by an infantile-like egotism.

Consider the experience of the great Italian journalist Oriana Fallaci who died of cancer last week. Fallaci spent her final years writing about the decline and collapse of her beloved Europe and its transformation into "Eurabia." By simply being critical of Islam, Fallaci was indicted in her native Italy.

So Fallaci, in her declining years, could only return to her home country if she was willing to risk up to two years imprisonment for simply writing unflattering commentary about Islam.

Are you listening Rosie? Do you really understand the nature of the dear freedom that you have?

European reality, where America's and Rosie O' Donnell's own left want to take us, demonstrates the common ground and meeting place of the far left and the far right.

Once the rules of civilization, the precious gift of our tradition and culture, are cast to the trash heap, they get replaced with new rules of the game that are generated by power and politics. The legal landscape of a totally secularized Europe is now re-written by the politically correct whose world view originates in their latest urge du jour.

The result is Italy casts out one of its great, liberal journalists whose crime is to be honest about those who want to destroy her country.

Freedom to speak is the gift of the civil, not of the politically correct.

Rosie O'Donnell doesn't get it. She hasn't a clue about the civilization and the tradition that opens the door for her to broadcast her adolescent meanderings to millions every afternoon. Out of pure ignorance she reduces the value of the gift she has to zero. History tells us that once you don't understand what you have, you lose it.

The radical Islamists, like the politically correct in the morally relative West, make up their own rules and don't appreciate the real truths of the world in which they live.

Does the president of Iran honestly comprehend where he stands? First of all, he wants nuclear power _ the same nuclear power discovered and developed by Western science, the product of our open, honest, and thoughtful Western civilization he so abhors.

How about at least a thank you Mr. Ahmadinejad?

But, maybe more to the point, Ahmadinejad acts the way he does because he is as detached from the realities in which he lives as Rosie O'Donnell.

If we wanted to play ball with Ahmadinejad according to his own supposed rules, the game would be over in 10 seconds. If we really wanted to exercise our power, he'd be history. We could blow his regime to kingdom come and deliver him readily to the black eyed virgins in heaven that his jihadis so long for.

We don't do it because we are civil and not because we can't. Because we value life, what it means and the values that sustain it and make this dear gift possible. This is what those in the world of Islam that think they are powerful need to grasp.

It is sad and ironic that Muslim attacks on churches in response to innocent remarks made by the Pope in an important and thoughtful speech about faith and reason coincided also with Fallaci's death.

Fallaci, who found inspiration in the message of this Pope, saying: "I am an atheist, and if an atheist and a pope think the same things, there must be something true. It's that simple."

She also wisely observed, "The moment you give up your principles and your values, the moment you laugh at those principles and those values, you are dead, your culture is dead, your civilization is dead. Period."

Pay attention, Rosie.

Definate hyperbole on The part of Rosie
yet I will point out that former Alabama Supreme Coaurt Justice Moore has actually advocated the imprisonment and execution of GLBT people. By contrast, Gary Bauer and Janet Folger have 'merely' called for GLBT to be imprisoned. Rather then smearing all with a broad brush, Rosie should have said who was actually making dangerous and repugnant statements.

Politically correct libs
Political correctness has been the bane of our country and the world itself. And is nothing more than the left's view of freedom. And is surprisingly close to the views espoused by the followers of radical islam. One can only hope that political correctness reaches the trash pile of history soon.

Puff the Magick
"Justice Moore has actually advocated the imprisonment and execution of GLBT people. By contrast, Gary Bauer and Janet Folger have 'merely' called for GLBT to be imprisoned. Rather then smearing all with a broad brush, Rosie should have said who was actually making dangerous and repugnant statements."

Let's see, the country started out with capital punishment for homos, then went down to imprisonment, then legalization by judicial fiat in 2004, and yet we're supposed to think that those positions are dangerous and repugnant. Imprisonment was the law not 3 years ago.

Also Interesting
Celitc, you whined up a stink when Dr. Adams compared homosexuals to muslims not too long ago. Why the change in tune?

Rosie O'Donnell
Might look good in a Burka

Not so sure, Bob
But she would then make a good walking Tent commercial.

Star Parker is dead on the money.

um, yeah, jerubaal
When did he compare GLBT people to muslims? He usually compares them to pedophiles and similar criminal elements.

jerubaal
If you are advocating a return to legal persecution of GLBT people, then you are making Rosie O'Donnells case for her. Only the most extreme "Christians" have been agitating for legal enforcement of their religious hatred. So what are you saying?

Passion, skill, talent...
Dear Ms Parker,
This is one of your finest columns. Thanks.

Why the Denial?
The comparison is definitely hyperbole, but to deny that there are some pretty sick ultra-Christians out there is pretty sad. Operation Rescue anyone? Fred Phelps? This isn't to say that ALL Christians, or even ALL Conservative Christians believe in fundamentalist logic, but many do. While the percentage of Muslims who believe in fundamentalist logic may be higher (though remember that there are only a few thousand dedicated al-Qaeda members max around the world), why can't religious Christians recognize the skeleton in the closet, admit it, distance themselves from it, and move on? Why the need to circle the wagons?

What is radical?
Most people see “radical” Islam as a threat because of the tendency to kill anyone who objects to becoming Muslim. Most people do not see “radical” secularism as a threat because it has become so established in our society. Rosie (a radical secularist) sees a threat to her religion by the “radicals” of Christianity and Islam.

Radicalism is only a term used for those who are serious about their faith and act on it. Since much of our country has been already converted to radical secularism, it is only natural for them to equate Christianity and Islam as similar threats.

The secularists hold themselves to be God. Historically this phenomenon never lasts long. It is characterized by self-indulgence and dissipation and is usually financed by debt. It is consumptive and as such rots from within. In our country, it may be replaced by the type of exploitive serfdom found in Mexico and South America.

Christianity has been the only force to hold Islam at bay. Now that Christianity has been conquered by radical secularism in Europe, it is easy prey to fall to Islam.

The question remains as to what will happen to America? Will it continue in its conversion to secularism and follow the path of Europe? Or, will it return to its Christian heritage and resist both the radical Muslims and radical secularists?

John doe
We HAVE moved on. It is people like yourself who keep bringing up Old News. Why don't you concentrate on the Gorilla in the room, rather than the skeleton locked away in a closet in an abandoned house in a deserted town on an unihabited island?

I find it curious
that the likes of those who created MoveOn, are incapable of Moving On.

Rosie and the radicals
Interesting to see the anger of the Gay rights people in these e-mails. In Sweden and in Canada ministers were imprisioned for preaching from Romans chapter 1. I as a minister forsee the same in the U.S. if Rosie and those who agree with her ever come to power. Free speach is now the bane of the left and radical Islamists. I would be glad to see your reaction if ministers in this country are imprisioned for excercising their free speach rights. However I don't think they let you read your e-mails from jail.

secularism
You people should be praying to God for more secularism. Secularism is keeping Christians in this country from banning teachings on evolution, and from trying women and doctors who get or perform an abortion for murder.
Secularism is what's preventing this country from getting too carried away with the idea that God favors the United States above all countries (except maybe Israel). Secularism is what is upholding our first amendment rights.

Secularism is a huge part of the founding of this country and without it, we, as a country, wouldn't be nearly as moderate. (I know you people like to say that the country was founded on Judeo/Christian values, but to leave out the secular values of the enlightenment is terribly misleading.)

What we need in the Muslim world is more secularism to difuse their religious radicalism.

Phylo out.

Points missed
I think the points missed are:
While Fred Phelps and his ilk have demonstrated and said thank God for IED's and other perfectly stupid vile things,no one has caught them building an IED or shooting a GLBT.

Rosie's rant is allowed here. Under the Taliban she would have executed for her orientation. Remember those folks make Moses look like Hugh Hefner.

Everyone please check for the plank in your own eye.

It's funny
How people celebrate "freedom" except when someone they don't agree with wants some. We're pushing Iraqi's & Afghani's to embrace equal rights for women and religious freedom (remember the guy who was almost executed for converting to Christianity?). With all this "respect for life" Star claims we have, I haven't heard anyone pushing for laws against homosexuality -which can also be punished by death - to be overturned in the Middle East. Why is it so hard to understand that when you marginalize & discriminate against a group of people, their response & view of you isn't going to be positive. No one is taking your freedom to practice Christianity away. Even the early Jews realized they couldn't make the non-Jews follow the rules they did. I don't agree with most of Rosie's politics, but I do believe she should be entititled to the same rights as any other American. Other non-believers including Muslims, Krishnas, etc. and various sinners are not held to the "sin" standard gays are.

I guess Rosie should just shut up & quit whining about inequality & discrimination & give thanks to the benevolent Christian community for not killing her.

Reality Check
Rosie needs a reality check. Her actions resemble those of a self centered spoiled brat throwign a tantrum, calling her momy names because she can't have everything she wants when she wants it. Total self engrosed emotion with no logical thought. But then she has a history of opening her mouth before engaging her brain.

Most of radical christianity will advise her where she is going to spend eternity for being a practicing lesbian, probably not watch her show in protest, and then pray for her.

Most of radical islam will want to execute her for being a practicing lesbian.

Obviously to Rosie, haveing a radical christian pray for you is far worse than a muslim execution.

Secularism, and john doe
My god... I... I... I AGREE with something Phylo said!!!

I think I may throw up...

john doe:

Your "why the denial" tactic is fairly obvious... you have tried it twice now, here and on the George Allen thread. Having found you at it twice, it becomes very clear to me that you are not asking a genuine question, you are employing a tactic. Shame on you.

But to reply to your disingenuous "question"... first, many conservatives DO acknowledge the fact of the extremists, and disavow them. Second, you say "This isn't to say that ALL Christians, or even ALL Conservative Christians believe in fundamentalist logic, but many do. " I challenge you to 1. define "many" in this context, and 2. Support that definition with facts and/or statistics, posted with citations for verification. In this context, "many" is at best vague, and at worst an unconscionable smear. Third, while there are a few extremists on the American right, every movement has its fringe element, but show me some evidence of influence on their part to compare to the Taliban in Afghanistan, the Islamist government in Sudan, the coup in Algeria, or the imposition of Sharia in Saudi Arabia and elsewhere.

Your question is specious and ridiculous, and it's a pathetic tactic disguised as honest inquiry. Again, shame on you.

Rosie-colored glasses
Rosie like all of us has lived the good life here in America, benefiting from all the freedom that we possess here in this country. That freedom includes the right to say just about anything we want without fear of being beheaded, stoned, or imprisoned. Obviously she really does understand that freedom or she wouldn’t say the things that she says. We just need to understand WHY she says what she says…she needs LOTS of attention. Rosie is a celebrity in constant need of attention…LOOK AT ME, LOOK AT ME! She doesn’t talk about the issues to solve the issues, she talks about issues to draw attention to herself. She knows that she is free to say, “I am a lesbian” and not fear reprisals. She can talk about imaginary reprisals that might happen but what reprisals has she really ever suffered since coming out? Loss of income? Loss of mansion? Loss of TV time? Loss of free-speech? Loss of adoption? What? What losses has she EVER had to suffer in this country because of her life-style choice or her imaginary fear of extremist-Christians? I think Rosie does get it as far as freedom of speech goes. I think she appreciates it too, that freedom to say whatever she wants because, by golly, that jaw of hers just keeps on flapping. Let her have her say. You don’t have to agree with what she says NOR do you have to listen to what she says.

has it occurred to anyone that
people who are lame enough to watch drivel like rosie are not smart enough to understand nuance? how many books do you think they have read? Do you think that they can read? how much do you wanna bet that the only book in their house is tv guide? doesn't anyone get it that the producers of rosie and ellen and the like (jerry springer anyone?) are COUNTING on the dumbies to watch them? And that with the worsening education crisis in this country we are turning out almost a never-ending (self perpetuating) supply of them?

I am a Christian, I am a practicing Catholic. If there is anyone out there who can tell me the last time one of us converted anyone at gunpoint on TV - please drop me a line. The same applies to 1)crashing planes into buildings, 2)beheading people and selling the videos, 3)inciting children to martyrdom or 4)creating an armed children's militia. (1 guess as to what the requirement for membership is)

BULLETIN - ACID FLASHBACK!!!!

Picture this - A muslim fanatic extremist being forced to watch the 700 club and then jerry springer and then rosie and then ellen -

HOUR AFTER HOUR AFTER HOUR

THAT is torture.

As I was saying before that bulletin .....

Pat Roberston does NOT speak for me. He speaks for Pat Robertson. This nonsense about the Radical Right" is just that - nonsense. This is America - if you don't want to go to church you don't have to. If you feel compelled to mock me because I go and that makes you feel better, then do so, just remember - I go because I WANT TO. You don't go because you DON'T want to. Get it?

If I see things on TV that offend me I speak up. Censorship? - well duhhhh. Of course it is. What is wrong with people saying to the moguls - you have the freedom to put trash on tv but if you do we will do our best to make sure that the ECONOMIC consequences are severe. If you feel strongly enough that it is art (like madonna's crucifixion scene) and are willing to go for it - go for it.

FOLLOW THE MONEY

This is censorship - economic censorship.

Ever heard of Theodore Van Gogh? He is (was) a Belgian filmmaker (distant descendant of Vincent) who made a film critical of Islan's treatment of women. For his efforts he was stabbed to death on the street by a muslim fanatic who left the knife in his chest pinning down a letter explaining why he did what he did.

THAT, Ducky, is censorship - everything else pales before it.

phewww
I feel better now.

gotta walk the dog

Rosie should just shut up
Doesn't she realize how good she has it? In Iraq & Afghanistan she would still be executed even with the "freedom" we've brought to them. Here she is only discriminated against. Why does she think she & other gays should have equal rights...we let them exist, don't we? Muslim Shiria law isn't really much different than biblical law. Unfortunately, Judaism/Christianity got more complicated when Jesus came along and admonished his followers to "love one another" and not judge others. It's what separates Christianity from Judaism. Of course nobody (in civilized nations)lives by the majority of biblical rules anymore. The bible is full of laws against shaving, haircuts, eating of many foods including rare meat & shellfish, tattoos, planting 2 kinds of seed in the fields, wearing clothing woven of 2 kinds of material, adultery, required practice of animal sacrifice, stoning of people for infractions such as cursing their parents, adultery or working on the Sabbath.

Jesus said, "Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her. And if she divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery."

Shouldn't the federal marriage amendment also make it illegal to re-marry after a divorce? I know we can't stone these sinners anymore (thanks to the radical secularists), but shouldn't we be able to stop these adulterous re-marriers from making a mockery of traditional ('til death do us part) marriage?

Shouldn't we be pressing for a return to all biblical law, not just the one about homosexuality? That would kill 2 birds with 1 stone...the Muslims wouldn't hate us (so much) anymore because our societies would be just like theirs! No cussing, sex or scantilly-clad women on TV. No bars or porn shops or offensive music, etc. Few divorces an NO GAY PRIDE parades!
Paradise!

Rosie just doesn't get it
If the muslims were in power, instead of being on a tv show, she would be dead.

cyberpip1 and Political Correctness
Political Correctness is a convenient means to generate the next piece of propaganda, which is to be proliferated on ABC News, CBS News, NBC News, CNN, PBS News, the NYT, the Washington Post, etc.

To make PC work, you must think of the American people as a jumble (nothing like a "melting pot") of groups of victims. One group is homosexuals, who for SO LONG were persecuted for acting on their lusts (men for men, women for women); closely allied with them are the transvestites, bisexuals, and transsexuals, who experience similar condemnations from Christians/the "Radical Right", just for "being who they are".

Then there are the racial minorities - Negroes/coloreds/blacks/Arican Americans/have they come up with another term yet? (I lose track), and the Hispanics. The Hispanics, according to census projections, will present an interesting situation for the Liberals in a few years: Hispanics will no longer be a minority, so will they continue to receive the "benefits" of all the Federal programs intended to "help" minorities?
We must not forget women, particularly as "represented" by NOW. "Women's rights" include the right to murd -er, I mean, abort their children (freely, safely and legally); equal pay in the workplace; and equal representation in any significant group. The fact that Congress is not yet half (or more) women is a problem, but we're working on that. Women must also be half of the work force: in management, especially, including CEO's, company presidents, etc; and in any high-paying profession.
Unions are an important part of American society, standing up for workers' rights to have their union dues spent on campaign donations for liberal politicians.
Liberals dearly love anyone on welfare, figuring that if the government continues to pay them just enough to survive, but never improve and actually become "middle-class", they'll continue to vote for liberals every chance they get. In a similar way, those who depend on Social Security for their livelihood, are another group, much like those on welfare.
While trees don't vote, the environment is another "group" - so to speak - that must be protected, especially from Evil Big Business.

There are two groups that don't get protected: white males, and Big Business (aka corporations, especially large corporations), except to the extent that a white male might be a member of one of the other groups - say, a union member, or homosexual. A handful of corporations are run by members of a racial minority; this gets fuzzy, as we don't want other members of that minority to get the idea that they could start a businees of their own, and then they wouldn't depend on the Federal government to keep them alive (barely); at the same time, we have to be sure that no one thinks we're discriminating against members of a racial minority.

Any development/proposed legislation/etc, that threatens one of these groups, or that might shrink the size of one of these groups - that welfare reform included in the Contract with America in the 1990's was a major problem, giving poor people the idea that they didn't have to stay poor all their lives - must be attacked, denounced, etc. Such developments must be at the very least restricted, better yet eliminated entirely; other consequences to the country, our culture, our morals, our churches, etc, are trivial. (Of course, when X-President Clinton effectvely raised the taxes on Social Security recipients, we ignore that, because we think he's the greatest President America ever had.)

Example: "Oh yes, we regret that your church lost its tax-exempt status, but your preacher started talking about ways that homosexuals cna be 'cured', as if there was anything wrong with homosexuality in the first place. Those groups that claim to 'help homosexuals change their orientation' are complete frauds, don't you know that? So we just couldn't allow that kind of talk, especially at taxpayer expense."

Of course, we WERE a melting pot for decades, but the liberals are working hard to end That, so that PC will work better.

bow up Rosie???
"But, really Rosie, it must mean something, even to you, that no Christian leader has suggested that you be executed, or even that your house should be blown up. You must see some difference between not approving of your views and issuing a contract on your life."

Has some radical Muslim twit threatened Rosie personally???

And I should listen to her because...
"Out of pure ignorance she reduces the value of the gift she has to zero."

What sort of authority on anything is Rosie O'Donnell? I put as much stock in what she has to say about as much as anyone else in Hollywood, which gets about as much credit with me as anyone else's opinion. In other words, just another person's opinion. The only problem is, she has a forum.

"Better to remain silent and let people think you're a jackass..." - Mark Twain

GLBT
I musty be behind the times. What does GLBT stand for?

only in America
can we be having a conversation like this

Thank Zeus

Vickiz almost got it
"Rosie is a celebrity in constant need of attention…"

No, she's a talk show host in need of ratings.

somebody help me
glbt I am sure stands for something currently significant but if you ask a question like that on a forum like this while we are discussing/ranting in our blessed anonyimity (sp?) you surely must know that there will probably be some juicy answers.

fire away

Muslims are not threatening Rosie YET
That's part of the problem. People like Rosie are short-sighted: more upset about Christians who are _currently_ raising verbal objections to their sinful conduct, than about Islamists who would _eventually_ get around to killing them.

But it's not true that Rosie doesn't know the difference between Christians and Muslims. She
DOES know the difference. She ABSOLUTELY knows that Christians won't murder her--so she can pretend she is being bold when she vilifies them, all the while really knowing that she is taking NO risk by doing so. As for the Muslim terrorists, she still hopes that someone else will protect her from them if it comes to it.
Limousine liberals always count on someone else to make the sacrifices for them.

Watch out! It's a trap!
"Liberals dearly love anyone on welfare, figuring that if the government continues to pay them just enough to survive, but never improve and actually become "middle-class", they'll continue to vote for liberals every chance they get."

The biggest problem with the welfare system is that's it's a trap. Once you cross a certain threshold, you lose all benefits, with the exception of food stamps. That at least has a sliding scale, and I'll say they've got THAT formula figured to a T, in my experience. We ran out of money just before our month was up, and sometimes had some left over.

My ex and kids are on Title XIX right now (we're divorcing) and she has told me, "I can't make more than X per month or I'll lose my insurance." We all know about the insurance crisis in this country. It's not affordable. My ex needs to make an extra $200 a month to pay for her diabetic supplies, plus another $500 a month minimum to get insurance for the kids. Nobody'll touch her outside of group policy for less than $1500 a month, if that. She'd need to make $25,200 tax-free just to pay for medical care and insurance. With a Title XIX sliding scale, she could get insurance that would keep her alive and healthy. My fear is that she's going to stroke out or have a coronary from lack of care, and the ability to pay for it.

Fear of losing insurance is what's keeping her from becoming productive. It's the fear of loss of insurance. We've revamped food stamps to conform to real-world earning, so why not everything else?

Why am I not providing insurance? I can't afford it either, and I'm not eligible.

Welfare is a trap and I'm glad I'm off it. I hope I stay that way. Trouble is, now I'm stuck in the middle between prosperity and poverty.

re: GLBT
"Gay, Lesbian, Bi, Transgendered"

In other words, any sexual orientation other than plain hetero.

Why bother?
Why waste time debating the opinion of a celebrity? They are not experts on anything except how to get TV ratings. The admiration of celebrity rather than real achievement is a disease in America. The only meaningful statement made by a clebrity years ago was when Paul Neuman said that he the movie actor should not be admired but Tenessee Williams who wrote the play that the movie was based on since he was the true aritst and the actor is only a performer. That statement did not make any headlines put put celebrities in their proper place.

Radical Islam or Radical Christianity
One lives by the sword, while the other lives by the precious blood of the crucified Lord and Savior of the world.

Muslims are not threatening Rosie YET
No they have not -- when are they going to get around to it ???

Is there any history, in the US, of Looney Christians treatening, killing and blowing up/burning out people in the US?

Absolutely and in my lifetime -- KKK --

Now this is sophisticated spin.....

In essense this spin is stating that the fact that no Christians have reacted like muslims would have by killing Rosie for her statements is in and of itself a de facto threat to kill her if she is not silenced. Now that's grand. You will never win a propoganda war with people whose spin is this sophisticated. Unfortunately for us these folks tend to side with our enemies in the propoganda war, as punishment for not giving them control of the country.

Pogue
I had an entirely different take on that post, I thought that the individual was basically saying, in effect, "Christians are really not much better than Muslims, sure no one has killed her, but she is still not given any civil rights." Which is itself a ridiculous formulation; even absent an institution of legal gay marriage, it is silly beyond the pale to claim that gays in this country have no civil rights, and only barely exist at the sufferance of a predominantly Christian, intolerant majority. To make a claim like that requires complete ignorance of the last thirty years of American history and popular culture.

The Dangerous Radical Christians
I think Rosie has a very good point and you people should listen to her closely.

Last weekend I was flying home from a business trip and I noticed there were some of those RELIGIOUS RIGHT RADICALS on my plane!! It looked like they were returning from Bible Camp or a jubilee (I think that is where they learn bomb-making skills).

During the entire flight my heart was pounding and pounding in my chest. One of them even spoke to me directly!!! I believe she said, "God bless you" or something like that - but all I heard was, "Time for you to die!"

One of their kids (an obvious terrorist in training) even had some type of terrorist manual coloring book right on the plane!! It appeared it was written by two people named Mary and Joseph (I think) and from what I could see it looked like instructions for using animals as suicide bombers or something sick and twisted like that.

I wish I could tell you more about these radical terrorists, but I was afraid for my life and I actually greatly endangered myself just getting this much information.

BEWARE America, you may be next!

....and a special Thank You to Rosie - you are a true American Hero!!

Phylo
Phylo writes:

"You people should be praying to God for more secularism,", and then goes on to wax poetic for the "virtues" of secular*ism*.

Phylo, secular*ism* does nothing of what you state. Secular*ism* has no value system and must borrow from Christianity often, for many of its "values" it holds dear.

By the same measure you hold, Secularism squelches desenting views (on the evolution debate, it is obvious), and permits doctors to commit murder (abortion).

Abortion is justified on the grounds of eugenics, that it lowers the crime rate, today. Look at Planned Parenthood for the same. Adolf Hitler, who you would probably erroenously assign to Christianity, justified the annilation of Jews based on evolutionary arguments, another contribution of secular*ism*.

While I want a secular government, I do worry about a government that needs more "secularism". The danger is all in that little "ism". It by and of itself is the most dangerous without the religious support of God Laws it rests on today. The more it destroys those supports, the more you have to worry about secular*ism*.

The real problem is brainwashed opinions of the likes of you and Rosie O'Donnell who make these gross exaggerations and have the glass is half empty mentality. When I see this, I have to agree with michael savage, who I am no fan of that liberal*ism* is a mental disorder.

Jay
"The biggest problem with the welfare system is that's it's a trap."

Exactly - and not just welfare. The welfare system is designed to keep you alive, as I said - but for most on welfare, it's keeping them barely alive, so that they can't afford to go to college, or even trade school, so they can't get a good-paying job, and their children will grow up to be in the same fix. As I said, that welfare reform in the mid-90's was a major problem: many former welfare recipients got _off_ welfare, simply because they _had_ to.

Similarly, affirmative action, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), etc, perpetuate the impression, usually not even explicitly stated, that African Americans (or whatever term they go by now - as I said, I lose track) and Hispanics can't get anywhere - economically, socially, or otherwise - without the help of liberals. They get into college only because of Affirmative Action; they get hired for decent- (not great-) paying jobs only because of the EEOC. Of course, the real reason these minorities do poorly on SAT's, etc, is that they're going to inferior public schools that primarily baby-sit and barely teach how to read and write. Science in those inner-city schools where so many minorities go? (giggle) Math? (LOL) Anything to prepare for computer programming/software development? (ROTFLOL) And who keeps the good (or even mediocre) schools where they are, and the inferior ones in the inner cities? Who keeps teachers who don't know their subjects teaching? Teachers' unions, particularly the National Education Association (NEA), which is a nationwide conglomeration of local teachers' unions, with a "branch" - so to speak - in each state, _and_ the Federal Department of Education, most of whose employees are, curiously enough, members of the NEA.

Loved your comment....

I think it was Dennis Prager who pointed out the obvious: I don't remember his exact comment, but it is something like, if you were in a ghetto in NY city at night, and 5 dark silhouettes were coming at you, would you be relieved or not to know that they were coming from a bible study group. I'll add: would you be relieved to know they were coming from a Rosie O'Donnell's radical extremist bible study group.

I would answer yes, I would be very relieved. I think even the likes of Phylo and john doe would be, also.

Ever heard of The Terror, Phylo?
There's your secularism in a NUTshell.

Phylo Nails It Again
Phylo, your insight into society and human nature is staggering and awe-inspiring. It’s a shame the stupid conservatives on this site can’t grasp your advanced intuitive reasoning.

As you stated, we should be praying for more secularism! The Muslims justify their attacks on Western society by stating they we are an “immoral, decadent, self-indulgent and depraved” society, so it is ok to destroy us.

But, if we could just follow your simple logic, and become even MORE secularist, which would allow us to become even MORE “immoral, decadent, self-indulgent and depraved”....which would totally remove the justification for Muslim attacks on Western society!

Why can’t you simple-minded conservatives figure this out on your own?!?

Radical Rosie vs America
Rosie O'Donnell is only sharing the opinion of other liberals who attacks this country instead of attacking radical Islam. Rosie only used a different approach. Instead of attacking President Bush and our troops this time, Rosie attacked the Christians. Why not, don't lesbians blame Christians for the world not accepting their lifestyle and embracing it. If there's one thing Rosie has learned well is that liberals have opinions about everything. There's one thing though liberals have not learned and Rosie supports this. Having an opinion without the facts is a lie. As much as Rosie, the Democrats, and the media supports what Radical Islam does, why hasn't any of the terrorists, Hugo Chavez, or Ahmadinejad invited them to come live out the rest of their lives in their country. Why hasn't the international community come to the rescue of people like Rosie who finds this country dangerous because of the radical Christians. I've heard Harry Reid say numerous times how he doesn't feet safe. The Christians must make Rosie feel less safe also. Maybe Rosie, Harry Reid, and the other Americans who feel less safe can find a country better then America, the American people, and the American way of life where Muslims control how you live your life.

Yes Phylo
What the world need is more Adolph Hitlers, more Mao Tse-Tungs,more Pol-Pots, more Josef Stalins. Is that the "secularism" that you think we "need" more of?
More mass murders were committed by "secularists"
in the previous century than by anyone else.
Wonderful column!!

"Muslims are not threatening Rosie YET
No they have not -- when are they going to get around to it ???

Is there any history, in the US, of Looney Christians threatening, killing and blowing up/burning out people in the US?

Absolutely and in my lifetime -- KKK --"

Muslims are not threatening Rosie yet, because they don't have political control of this country yet. They're not stupid - the most radical Muslims - who would be the first Muslims to cut her head off with a dull knife, if there are any in America, are laying low, waiting for a Muslim majority in both houses of Congress _and_ a Muslim President _and_ a majority of Muslims on the Supreme Court, to impose Sharia law. Until then, the radicals are content to let us focus on the Moderate Muslims in America, while waiting for a signal from their fearless leader - whoever he may be - to activate their "sleeper cell". To try to attack her now, or even to talk about such an attack openly, would be to expose themselves, and create a backlash against them.

I would dispute the history "of Looney Christians threatening, killing and blowing up/burning out people in the US", because I dispute the Christianity of members of the KKK and any similar groups. The whole idea is so different from what I hear in my church, that I can't put the two sets of doctrines on the same page. My church says, among other passages, "There is neither Jew nor Greek". Racial differences are irrelevant; Jews and Greeks are treated equally. There weren't many blacks (or what ever word they're going by now) in the Roman empire at the time, so Saint Paul - who wrote that verse - didn't mention them - but I believe that the same principle applies. The passage continues, "there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus". The whole idea of "keeping blacks in their place" is foreign to my church; their place is right next to me, if they want. And, yes, sometimes there _are_ blacks sitting next to me in church, and I'm as white as they come; they're allowed to take communion under the same rules that I am - or anyone else.

The KKK may say that they're Christian, but that doesn't make them Christian. What if I say that I'm Buddhist, does that make it so?

(FYI, to whom it may concern, I certainly am _not_ Buddhist.)

I agree 100% that the KKK is anything unlike the Christianity that I was taught. ( they did not stop at Blacks but also targeted Gays, Jews, Catholics and of course Liberals ( Yankees )

And I agree 100% that just because one claims to be a Christian that they are indeed Christian.

And I feel that when a Self Proclaimed Christian calls for the assasination of anybody they proving their lack of Christianity.

I also feel that when a self proclaimed Christian says that he is doing the work of Christ ( God ) when he attacks a country, they too are proving their lack of Christianity.

It might just apply to Muslums too -- that there are those using the name of a religion to carry out hate.

As far as the Muslim extremist gaining control of the US -- the idea is just too far fetched to be serious -- But there are fanatics in the US that have called for the invasions of Muslium countries and forcing the conversion of their people to Christianity -- Which is also pretty far fetched.

How disingenous
for Star Parker to ignore the Spanish Inquisition, the imprisonement of Galileo, the Salem witchhunts, the call for the banning of anasthesia, and smallpox vaccination by the Church of England because they both interfered with the will of God, the justification of slavery through the Bible, the denial of equal rights and property rights before the law for women justified through the Bible, and then compare today's version of Christianity with today's radical Islam!

You're comparing apples and oranges Parker. Today's Islam is stuck in 1492, if you want to compare radical Islam with radical Christianity then compare the Inquisition with Osama Bin Laden. Not much difference then Parker.

To equate Secularism only with irrationality and evil is just too facile don't you think Goddie4LT? What did Pol Pot, Hitler, Stalin have in common at bottom? The idea that the indiviual was a mere appendage to the race, or to society, the indiviual as an independent entity did not exist, the indiviaul mind did not exist, only the race or society existed, the indiviual be damned! But organized Christianity at one time also did not hold the indiviual sovereign, or indiviual life sacrosanct, the indiviual belonged to the church or to God through the church and the indiviual was forced to bow down to the religious group or be dispatched to h*ll for his own good!.

Just because an idea can trace it's origin to Secularism does not make it automatically rational or good, likewise just because an idea can trace it's origin to Chrisitanity doesn't make it automatically rational or good either.

"When did he compare GLBT people to muslims? He usually compares them to pedophiles and similar criminal elements."

His last satire piece on which you commented extensively. Not the last article, but the one before.

"So what are you saying?"

That it's not repugnant or dangerous to call for criminalization of sodomy. That's different, btw, than calling for criminalization of sodomy. I want Lawrence v. Texas to be reversed because it is bad law. I could care less, though, whether the sodomy statutes are enforced later, though.

Dear alwaysquestion
I stand by what I said, and I am no apologist for whatever the Catholic Church did or didn't do in it's history, or the KKK, or whatever "claimed" to act in the name of Jesus.
The Word of God says that "they will know you by your fruits" and by the "love that you have for one another". Well, simply put, not many of the people claiming to be Christians are actually followers of Christ. Many follow doctrines and traditions of men that are actually against the Word of God.
You must have a relationship with Him and an indwelling of The Holy Spirit, faith that He is who He said He was, namely The Messiah, Who took our sins upon Himself that we might live.

This article has no validity..
Star Parker states:

"If we're going to be looking for common ground, I actually see more between so-called radical Muslims and liberals than I do with conservatives. They share the same unrealistic, childish view of the world driven by an infantile-like egotism."

The person who wrote this Ms. Star Parker is not to be taken seriously. Anyone who would issue such a nonsensical ridiculous statement has zero credibilty.

Really Left Angle?
Zero credibility because they stated an opinion? Where is the 'invalidating' portion of your quote exactly?

Star's Column
Right on Miss Star!!!!! Right on target and right on the money. It is a shame that more people do not have the moral fiber and guts to write something like this publicly. BRAVO!

LOL! Love your sarcasm!
I have wondered why the lefties who hate Christians so much just don't go live in France, or any Erabian country that has a secular government. Someone here said that many celebrities threatened to move out of the USA after Algore lost in 2000. What happened? Why didn't they go???

Left Angle
I can see the similarities-
It is funnyhow whenever one of these Imams or Osama's right hand man start speaking, they sound exactly like the Democrats.
Why else do you think Nancy Pelosi and Charlie Rangel were so quick to defend President Bush last week against what Hugo Chavez said. Even they recognized that he sounded as if he had memorized the DNC's talking points

Sure youre right..lol
The statement she made that i quoted above means to me this woman Star Parker is not to be taken seriously...the statement in and of itself is ridiculous nonsense...I stopped reading her article after that..She is a joke..lmao

Rosie
There have always been idiots like Rosie who don't know what they are talking about. It's only been in recent years, however, that the proliferation of mass media has provided such a forum for these misfits. One can only hope that most people don't pay attention to her paranoid ramblings.

secularism isn't totalitarianism
Some of you seem to equate secularism with Nazism, or communism, or totalitariansim.

Secularism is merely a world view that is independent of religion. I agree that the above ideas could be called "secular" because the weren't based on religious princples. But they are not the only secular ideas. In fact, Buddhism, in it's purest form, isn't a religion, it's a secular philosophy based on our actual experience of reality. Democracy is a secular idea. Capitalism is a secular idea.

So to impune secularism by equating it with Nazism, is like impuning religion by equating it with the jihad warriors.

There are bad secular ideas and there are bad religious ideas.

In any event, I'll bet that every one of you would like to see a more of a secular influence in the Muslim world.

Why?

Because you recognize that, secular ideas tend to moderate religious fanatacism.

Phylo out.

Phylo admits something.....
Phylo writes:

Wow, an amazing admission. Why do your ilk like Rosie O'Donnell equate "radical" Christian extremists with Muslim Extremist, then? She even raised applause.

And since Secularism is value neutral, you might be able to identify the fact it is more easily manipulated to deny liberty. The obvious example is your denial of inalienable rights to the unborn. Secularism doesn't care who has rights, right?

Left Angle
No one here other than Phylo and Anti-Partisan righty, maybe Clinton Fan, takes YOU seriously.

Adams didn't compare GLBT people to Muslims in that particular satiric rant. He claimed that Muslims were somehow INSPIRED in their tactics by GLBT people. Whatever. Hey, I can claim that Adams is inspired by serial killers. I don't have any idea HOW, of course, but it might make for an entertaining and controversial column...

Celtic
You said "I was unaware that "sociopathic" activists had so victemized Adams that he feels the need to compare GLBT people to homicidal Islamic extremists."

I was just wondering why Ms. Parker got kid-gloves treatment for the same.

Are we going to define
Christianity only by good things Goodie4LT? If it's good then and only then is it Christian, if it's bad then by definition it can not be Christian. Islam can play and is playing the same card, "Islam is a religion of peace, it's been hijacked by extremists...blah,blah,blah"

The Communists play the same card, real Communism, true Communism, has never been tried, what happened in the USSR, in Cuba, in North Korea, is not Communism, Communism was hijacked by evil men. True Communism is good. Do you know how many times I've heard that one from Liberals?! Makes my skin crawl every time I hear a Liberal say true Communism has never existed!

The future of Capitalism
as well as indiviual freedom(indiviual being redundant) will never be safe until the world comes to agreement that the fundamental purpose of an indiviual's life is the pursuit and achievement of his own personal happiness, here on earth, not in the grave or in an afterlife. A happiness achieved through the use of his reasoning mind, NEITHER SACRIFICING HIMSELF TO OTHERS NOR SACRIFICING OTHERS TO HIMSELF!

As long as religionists or secularists of any stripe keep insisting that the fundamental purpose of man's life is to serve others, that his moral obligation is to sacifice his life and happiness, either to society(Communism, Socialism), the race(Naziism), Allah and Muhammed(Islam), or any other entity, man will never be free! Capitalism is very much a this world philosophy and it rests firmly, explicitly or implicitly, on the idea that man is a sovereign indiviual and that the pursuit and achievement of his personal happiness is paramount above all other values, with but one caveat, he may not sacrifice the life, rights, or property of any other sovereign indiviual to his pursuit of his personal happiness.

What the world needs now is not love, sweet love, but absolute RESPECT and RECOGNITION of indiviual rights and their derivative; private property rights. But so long as people believe that there are things that supercede the sovereignty of the indiviual, be it God, Allah, or Society, people will be ready, willing, and able to violate the sovereignty of the indiviual in the name of that greater value!

"Fundamentalist" logic
In truth, you can't be a Christian if you don't subscribe to "fundamentals" -- which is what makes one a fundamentalist. That's word and descriptive title has gotten a bad rap in the last few decades, but there's absolutely no reason to fear it or people who subscribe to Biblical fundamentals. Fundamentals are merely basics -- foundational principles and beliefs.

As a Biblical fundamentalist, I believe that God has a personal interest in mankind, that He sent His Son Jesus to die for our disobedience to Him, that Jesus' death was for the sins of all mankind. As a Biblical fundamentalist, I believe that I must accept Jesus' sacrifice for me, believe that it is sufficient to cleanse my sins from me, and confess to others that I hold these beliefs. I further believe that the fruit of that relationship with Jesus Christ will show in the lives of true Christians.

Ephesians 5:6-21 speaks on this:

"Let no one deceive you with empty arguments, for because of these things God’s wrath is coming on the disobedient. Therefore, do not become their partners.

"For you were once darkness, but now [you are] light in the Lord. Walk as children of light— for the fruit of the light is all goodness, righteousness, and truth — discerning what is pleasing to the Lord.

"Don’t participate in the fruitless works of darkness, but instead, expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what is done by them in secret.

"Everything exposed by the light is made clear, for what makes everything clear is light.

(text removed for continuity, aurora)

"Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk (meaning to live, aurora) — not as unwise people but as wise— making the most of the time, buying back the time because the days are evil.

"So don’t be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Don’t get drunk with wine, which [leads to] reckless actions, but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music to the Lord in your heart, giving thanks always for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear (awe, respect, aurora) of Christ."

The foregoing is the Biblical definition of a Christian fundamentalist. What's to be afraid of?

Just because you THINK you know what Christians believe doesn't mean you KNOW what Christians beleive. And, just because you don't like what we believe because it throws light into areas of your life you'd rather keep hidden doesn't mean we're wrong for holding those beliefs.

If you hate the truth, it doesn't make it less than the truth. Truth remains truth even if you reject it.

jerubaal
Maybe I'm just tired of the same old arguments with people who hate who I am. When I go back and look, I do tend to think that my read on Adams' column is more accurate now, but it doesn't really matter. In any event, I reserve the right to critisize people on my side as well as people on yours. Rosie was not specific in her statements, so I disagree with her.

Phylo on Secularism
>>>>>>
Phylo says:

Phylo out.
>>>>>>

Phylo your post has so much wrong with it that I will only answer the big problem.

Phylo says: “You people should be praying to God for more secularism.

Everything evil in America is due to our secular nature. Secularism is humankind’s ways, as opposed to God’s ways. Men think too highly of them selves (even you Phylo). But Scripture says this about the two ways: Isa 55:8 "… my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD.

What vanity to think of praying to God for more secularism. What stupidity to think that God would want us to follow after men and not Him. After all, it is secularism that promotes evolution (contrary and to the exclusion of God’s teaching). Would God approve of a believer accepting evolution? It secularism that says it is OK to murder babies in the womb. Would God approve of our murdering babies (which He calls blessings)? I believe that God has in the past favored the United States. But God can also withdraw His favor if we turn away from Him. He did it to His chosen people Israel in the Old Testament. Do you think God will favor us if we turn away from Him to follow men’s ways?

It seems that Phylo is more interested destroying the faith of others than admitting that man causes his own problems. He is more interested in removing any mention of religion from government than he is in recognizing that we are endowed by our Creator certain unalienable rights that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness (Declaration of Independence). That word ‘AMONG’ indicates that there are more rights than just the three listed. Is the right to freedom of speech among the others not mentioned in the Declaration? Is the right to worship God freely and without hindrance also among those rights not enumerated in the Declaration? Phylo wants people to think that this country was founded on secularism and not on Godly principles. Wrong! Everything about this country was founded first and foremost on God and His teachings. If we are to believe Phylo then those rights were NOT given by God but given by men. And so what men have given, men can take away.

Jesus teaches us to beware of the wolf in sheep’s clothing. Maybe Phylo is that wolf. His lack of faith is fine for him but he wants no one to have faith. Everything he writes opposes God and promotes man. Phylo is false. Phylo is against the Constitution. Phylo is against the family. Phylo is against the welfare of this country.

Phylo defines secularism.

this blog
It's amazing to me, still, how much ignorance appears on the internet. This blogster seems to know nothing about comparative religion or religious history but spews one falsehood after the other and readers just suck it up and cheer her on.

Why don't some of you get out from behind your computers and read a book?

jojo
reading a book isn't a bad idea. I think I'm giving up on this nonsense tonight and tackling 'The Peloponnisian Wars'. At least I'll learn something.

GOOD GRIEF people
Who cares that Rosie is lesbian? If that is all that matters, take it somewhere else.

If what she SAYS matters, then she is WRONG (to so many of us) and we have a right, NO A DUTY to point that out.

To those 'doubting thomas' out there: THIS HAS ALWAYS BEEN A JUDEO-CHRISTIAN COUNTRY. We got our rights FROM GOD, after all. God, our Creator and other terms are used throughout our historical documents.

If our rights Don't come from GOD, where do they come from. And WHO can take them away?

What did Rosie O say?
I read Stars article but I don't know what Rosie said.

Also, thank you Vucan999. I always find comfort in the Scriptures.

alwaysquestion, How disingenous

Disingenuous, indeed! Has anyone noticed that all these offenses of Christianity are from 1800 or earlier? Did Christianity suddenly reform itself after banning anesthesia and smallpox vaccinations?

The Spanish Inquisition was a response to a crisis in Spain. The problem is/was that it continued long after the problem had been eliminated, and was used by some corrupt men to keep themselves in power. (Sound anything like some Democrats of recent history? X-President Clinton selling nuclear secrets to Communist China for contributions to his re-election campaign, for example?)

Bear in mind that all the other things were radical ideas at the time - Galileo's idea that the Earth went around the sun, instead of vice versa. The Earth being flat and the sun, moon, planets and stars going around seemed intuitively obvious to everyone for millenia before Galileo came along. Consider Joshua 10:12-14 "Then spoke Joshua to the Lord in the day when the Lord gave the Amorites over to the men of Israel; and he said in the sight of Israel,
'Sun, stand thou still at Gibeon, and the moon in the valley of Aijalon.' And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the nation took vengeance on their enemies.
Is this not written in the book of Jashar? The sun stayed in the midst of heaven, and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day. There has been no day like it before or since..."
Also, in Isaiah 38:7-8, King Hezekiah was severely ill; he prayed and asked God for mercy. In response, God told Isaiah to tell Hezekiah "This is the sign to you from the Lord, that He will do as He promised: 'Behold, I will make the shadow cast by the declining sun on the dial of Ahaz turn back ten steps.' So the sun turned back on the dial the ten steps by which it had declined."
Both of these passages strongly imply that Joshua, Isaiah, and Hezekiah thought the Earth does _not_ move, while the sun goes around the Earth. It is awfully difficult to interpret them otherwise. When Galileo said that the sun stays still while the Earth moves, it upset a lot of theologians, even though I can't personally see a terrifically strong connection between either of these passages and the basic doctrines of sin, redemption, Heaven and He_ll, etc.

The Salem witch hunts, IMO, were an example of overzealous church leaders trying to obey the commandments of God. He did outlaw witches in the Old Testament and call for their execution, although it's not one of the Ten Commandments.

Even today, most people are not allowed to practice anesthesia - it's too dangerous. When someone dies in surgery, the anesthetist is very often at the top of the list of people to sue.

Smallpox vaccinations were a totally new idea at the time, and I think you'll agree with me that the way it was practiced at the time was a little disgusting - find a sick cow, stick a hollow needle in its leg to withdraw some blood, and then inject that blood into the one being vaccinated. It took a while before the authorities noticed that, wherever these vaccinations _had_ been done, there were fewer deaths from the next smallpox epidemic.

Phylo Se Fizer - secularism

Phylo writes secularism isn't totalitarianism - September, 25, 2006 4:10 PM

Any religion defines your world view. Secularism is a religion just like Buddhism, Islam, Judaism, and Christianity. Each has a different world view.

In Secularism the god is mankind (manifested in the leader); the church is the state; and the world view is that every individual (other than the leader) is subservient to and works for the good of the church/state.

In order for mankind to be raised to the level of godhood, any/all other god/s must be displaced. This is the problem with Secularism in America. Phylo (and all his liberal friends) has no problem putting down God or anyone that worships Him. This effort even extends to rewriting history to remove God from America’s past. Any mention of God must be expunged from the public consciousness. It is going on today in the removal of His Ten Commandments from our court rooms; the removal of Christmas decorations from public buildings, the removal of prayer from the schools (even silent prayer is attacked), etc. It will be going on tomorrow when they try to remove of God from the Pledge of Allegiance and our currency. And every session of the House and Senate begins with a prayer – that will have to stop eventually.

In Phylo’s America, everyone must pay his 42% mandatory offering/taxes to the church/state. If he (all liberals) succeeds in eradicating God from America’s memory, then the moral vacuum created by His absence will be filled by church/state mandated morals. We see this happening already in on demand abortions, the sexual revolution, the attempted dissolution of traditional marriage, the break down of the family, the passage of so called ‘hate’ crimes, et al. it will only get worse. It did get worse in Germany, Russia, China, North Korea, Cambodia, Vietnam, etc. What is called ‘good’ in our Bibles will have to be called ‘bad’; and ‘bad’ will be called ‘good’.

To succeed in making every individual subservient to the church/state in Phylo’s utopia, the Bill of Rights will have to modified or eliminated. First, the Second Amendment must be neutralized. In order to make the citizenry docile all guns must be confiscated. Our freedom of speech will have to be curtailed or else there could be dissension among the people. Our trials will become sham as new laws will contradict existing laws (we already have this problem). How will we be able to defend ourselves?

Phylo says there bad religious ideas. I challenge Phylo to present a bad idea that Jesus taught.

Phylo says that democracy and capitalism are secular ideas. Actually, the concept that every man has a voice in matters is a biblical teaching. The basis of capitalism is increasing one’s assets. God tells his people to increase their herds, crops, and wealth.

Secularism is the ways of men. Eventually secularism does lead to totalitarianism with the average man being the loser.

Christianity is the way of God and every man can be a winner. Choose you this day who you will serve and which way you will walk.

Secular humanism
Rosie is, at best, a marginal celebrity with precious little of relevance to say. Secularism is, indeed, a "religion". One needs "faith" to believe its precepts. Rule #1 is the tenet that there is no truth. The question I like to ask my liberal, progressive, leftist friends is -- "It THAT true?" "How do you KNOW?" From there the issues are almost endless. They: "There is no God". Me: "PROVE it". They: "There are no absolutes". Me: "So you don't know that for sure, do you?" They: "All we can know for sure is that which can be perceived by our five senses or demonstrated in the laboratory." Me: "Demonstrate for me that thought. And be sure to include everything."

In fact, false ideas about truth lead to false ideas about life. And false ideas give justification for selfish and immoral behavior. Kill the concept of truth, and you kill morality. One cannot understand light if one has only ever lived in the dark. One cannot understand injustice if all people are honest and just. And if all people everywhere were completely just all the time, there would be no need for the State. What is truth? In its simplest form, it is what is. Most thinking people have some idea about what is right and what is wrong, but are free to set up their own control over their lives, and it is not in our nature to cede that over to another. God does not force anyone to come to him or to love him. We may freely chose to let him control us, or remain our own boss. The secularist argument that what is right for me is OK as long as I don't hurt anyone else is specious, because no one is capable of never hurting another.

Aristotle said -- "Nothing is what rocks dream about". Secular humanists prove him right every day. The universe had a beginning, or none of us would be here right now. Matter, energy, space, and time all exist and follow immutable natural laws (gravity, electromagnetism, etc.). And it is finite, else (if it were infinite) we would have no measure of time. God created us, we have a purpose, and he has written his immutable moral law on our hearts. To break his moral law is just as dangerous as attempting to break the law of gravity by jumping out of a ten-story building with only the shirt on your back. Today there is time, but someday it will end. As Bob Dylan said, "You've gotta serve somebody". And that's the truth.

Famous Rosie's
I heard that a Famous Rosie, takes bath's with her 5 yr. old adopted son. Then I heard she lets dogs lick her kid's butts for diaper rash. Am I hearing right. Does anyone figure a dog, what if that dog starts humping the child, what if the dog bites anyone interfering. This is so sick and I wonder if these devaint sex people contract disease's that cause insanity? Can anyone inform me?

I also want to thank you for your quote of Scripture, but I want to inform you that it seems to have already been fulfilled, at least the part about Babylon being deserted (verses 20-22).

There are Arab shepherds in the general area, with no permanent homes - living in tents, caves, wherever. If you go there and pay them well (and it helps if you speak Arabic well enough to ask them yourself), they will take you to Babylon - they all know where it is. They are, however, rather superstitious, and they believe that Babylon is haunted - they will NOT stay there overnight. I understand that the wind makes eerie sounds as it blows through what's left of the city streets, the houses, etc.

only one
there is only one extreme christian group that i know of that i can compair to the islamofasciast and that would be the Eric Roudoulph (probably spelled wrong but i am sleepy) type abotion clinic bombers. I know there are not as many of them out there because Christianity has not been violent for hundreds even thousands of years.

After all, it is secularism that promotes evolution (contrary and to the exclusion of God’s teaching). says you

What gives you the right to say what are and what are not God's teachings. Arogance that is what. I believe God created the Earth but uses natural processes like evolution to make everything work so He only has to step in which something breaks.

And actually i like haveing a Sectular goverment cuz it means people like you CANT TELL ME WHAT TO THINK, and if our goverment goes to far either way secular or theolagical in taking away my rights i will fight to the death to stop it.

Justice Roy Moore the facts
Don't repeat Soulforce lies

Moore wrote a special concurring opinion to make the case — in line with Alabama law — that the mother’s homosexual behavior “alone is sufficient justification for denying [her] custody.” Reaching back to the Biblical origins of English common law, he laid out the historic legal precedent for punishing sodomy as an infamous “crime against nature.” In a section designed to show that Alabama is correct to “disfavor practicing homosexuals” as a matter of promoting “the general welfare of the people of our State in accordance with our law,” Chief Justice Moore wrote (emphasis added):

The State may not interfere with the internal governing, structure, and maintenance of the family, but the protection of the family is a responsibility of the State. Custody disputes involve decision-making by the State, within the limits of its sphere of authority, in a way that preserves the fundamental family structure. The State carries the power of the sword, that is, the power to prohibit conduct with physical penalties, such as confinement and even execution. It must use that power to prevent the subversion of children toward this lifestyle, to not encourage a criminal lifestyle.

Soulforce founder Rev. Mel White — a former speechwriter for Rev. Jerry Falwell who defected from evangelical Christianity after embracing homosexuality — changed the above underlined sentences as part of his upcoming protest at the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) in St. Louis. (This is the third straight year that Soulforce has targeted the Convention to protest what it calls the SBC’s “anti-gay teachings.”) In a May 23 letter to SBC President Dr. James Merritt, Rev. White wrote (emphasis added):

On Tuesday, June 11, … we are holding a press conference … to repudiate these words of your fellow Southern Baptist, Chief Justice Roy Moore, Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court. “The state must use … confinement and even execution to prevent the subversion of children towards this criminal [homosexual] lifestyle.” We are asking you to repudiate that ignorant and hateful statement with us.

In a subsequent release posted June 3 on its Web site, Soulforce stated that it had invited Merritt “to denounce the anti-gay rhetoric of influential Southern Baptist Justice Roy Moore.” The Soulforce release continued [emphasis added]:

Alabama Chief Justice Moore stated in a “legal opinion” in February of this year that, “The state must use … confinement and even execution” to prevent gays from influencing children. [emphasis added]

“Southern Baptist anti-gay rhetoric, policies, and teachings lead to suffering and death for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender children of God,” said Dr. Rev. Mel White. … “We have asked James Merritt to join us to denounce the violence caused by this rhetoric, but he has refused.

“The fact that James Merritt refuses to repudiate Justice Moore’s ‘execution statement’ should horrify the 15 million members of Southern Baptist Churches. It is our hope that his silence is not a sign that all Southern Baptists condone violence against gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people,” said Soulforce spokesperson, Laura Montgomery Rutt.

CHIEF JUSTICE MOORE RESPONDS
In an interview with Culture & Family Report, Chief Justice Moore said that he “never intended to suggest that homosexuals should be executed.”

“They have taken this out of context,” he said. “I certainly never stated that homosexuals should be executed. Indeed, if we executed everybody who violated the law, there would be nobody left.”
