Scott Bensing serves as the Executive Director of the National Republican Senatorial Committee under the leadership of Senator John Ensign of Nevada. He recently served as Chief of Staff for Senator John Ensign from 2000 - 2006. As Senator Ensign’s top aide, Scott was responsible for the senator’s Capitol Hill office and staff, as well as offices in Las Vegas, Reno, and Carson City. Scott has worked for Senator Ensign in his current capacity since the senator was elected to his freshman term in November of 2000.
Prior to Senator Ensign’s election to the U.S. Senate, Scott served as Deputy Campaign Manager and Policy Director for the senator’s campaign and for four years as then-Congressman Ensign’s Legislative Director. Scott first came to Capitol Hill as a Navy Lieutenant working for the Secretary of the Navy as a congressional liaison officer. Other naval assignments Scott held include Combat Information Center officer and Chief Engineer aboard the USS David R. Ray (DD 971) during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm in the Persian Gulf during the first Gulf War and aide to RADM Donald Dyer, USN, Commander of the NATO Standing Naval Force Atlantic.
Scott holds a Bachelor of Science degree in political science from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, and a Masters in Public Administration from The American University in Washington, D.C.
Scott resides in Reno, Nevada, with his wife and four children.
