Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

My first memory of the impact of it all was when I was 13, sitting in my sister’s apartment, watching the evening news with Walter Cronkite. “103 American GIs killed today,” he intoned, as film of soldiers shooting Vietnamese rolled by. The nightly news always began that way … never a story of heroism or victory, just body bags and carnage as the anti-war media chose to report it.

Next was footage of Los Angeles burning, riots and looting, shootings on college campuses, all with flag burning as a backdrop. In the midst of it all, my sister’s Middle Eastern boyfriend gleefully shouted, “Come on America, destroy yourself!” I wanted to hit him. I tried to argue, but he mocked me. Because of my youth, I was no match for his vocabulary and knowledge. I felt inadequate to express the overpowering emotions of anger and rage. And pain. My beloved country, falling apart at the seams with a representative of one of its future enemies sitting right next to me, cheering it on. War vs. peace, communism vs. freedom, law vs. lawlessness, racism, anarchy and the future threat of radical Islam—all converged in that one room. And the passion that comes from love of country and all that is good began its deep roots in me.

I grew up in the midst of that turbulence. My peers wanted to “make love, not war,” and reduce peace to two fingers held high with a silly, drug-induced grin. Others of my generation wanted more. They wanted violent revolution. John Lennon made it sound vogue as they declared their intention to “kill the pigs” and obtain the violent overthrow of the United States Government.

Most were just foolish and spoiled, but others were serious as Hell itself. Members of the Weather Underground were part of the latter group. Formed in 1969, Bernadine Dohrn and William Ayers quickly moved into leadership. They bombed, rioted and threatened, “We’re coming after you!” Ayers encouraged followers to “kill all the rich people … bring the revolution home. Kill your parents.” And his apologetic for the 1972 bombing the Pentagon? The “bastards were finally going to get what was coming to them.”

“Strawberry Statement,” “Getting Straight,” “Woodstock,”…cult films reflecting the movement, are not nostalgic memories for me, but jolting reminders of a very dark and shameful time.

Charles Manson and his “family” shocked the world when they brutally murdered young actress Sharon Tate in her home along with friends, including coffee heiress, Abigail Folger. They wrote “Helter Skelter,” in blood on the walls, and the Beatles offered another tune to commemorate the event. Like the Weather Underground, Charlie Manson wanted the violent overthrow of the government. Bernadine Dohrn offered her adulation, “Dig it! First they killed those pigs, then they ate dinner in the same room with them. They even shoved a fork into the victim’s stomach! Wild!” Tate was nine months pregnant.

Fast forward to 2008. As I prepared to do an in-depth report on the Weather Underground, my producer uncovered some fascinating footage which brought me to tears. It was like going back in time when I saw Dohrn, Ayers and others spouting their poison to the black and white backdrop of those frightening days. Those dark revolutionaries were not experiencing the passing phase of foolish youth; they were the bold spokesmen for a deep and evil spirit of lawlessness that nearly prevailed just three decades ago. And they were speaking not in 1972, but in 2007.

Now Bernadine Dohrn is an assistant Law Professor at Northwestern University and her husband, William Ayers is a professor of Education at UIC, both “respected” members of the community, says Chicago Mayor Richard Daley. Both guilty of violence that resulted in death, both guilty of rebellion that aimed at destroying our country—and both unrepentant. “I don’t regret setting bombs. I feel we didn’t do enough,” said Ayers in 2001. “I found the whole idea of turning myself in revolting,” chronicled Dohrn in a PBS documentary. “Rebellion is inevitable. I remain committed to the struggle ahead,” she said as she surrendered to authorities in 1980. “We have extraordinary responsibility inside the heart of the monster,” she warned in 2007. “Guilty as sin and free as a bird,” boasted Ayers.

So when I learned of the connection between Ayres, Dohrn and Barack Obama, I was alarmed. In 1995, Dohrn and Ayres hosted a campaign fundraiser for Obama. Ayers contributed to Obama’s campaign. Bernadine Dohrn and both Barack and Michelle Obama were employed by the Sidley and Austin Law Firm. Bernadine, like Barack was involved with “community organizing,” a milk-toast term for “Rules for Radicals” author, Saul Alinsky’s leftist schemes. Obama and Ayers have appeared on academic panels together. While Obama has tried to downplay this as coincidental, his participation with Ayers on a 1997 University of Chicago panel was actually put together by the associate Dean of Student Services, Michelle Obama. Their kids have attended the same schools, and when the Obamas moved a little more than a year ago (with the questionable financial help of the wife of indicted Syrian National, Tony Rezko), it just happened to be in the same neighborhood as Ayers. Both Obama and Ayers served on the Woods Foundation Board, which along with funding “community organizing,” agreed to give $75,000 to the Arab American Action Network, cofounded by PLO-and-Yasser-Arafat apologist, Rashid Kalidi.

But it’s the underlying, dark vision for America that they share that concerns me most. While Ayers and Dohrn hate capitalism, Barack chooses careful terms like “fairness” to hint at evening the score on the “wealthy.” In the ’70s, the Weather Underground wanted “smash monogamy.” Group orgies were their attempt to break down all sexual taboos. Today William Ayers is a powerful advocate for “Queering Elementary Education” and advancing the cause of gay, straight, transgender and lesbian rights. The gay journalist Andrew Sullivan has declared Barack Obama the dream candidate of the homosexual movement.

“Revolution” versus “change.” “Capitalist pigs” versus “the wealthy.” “Smash monogamy” versus “other definitions of family.” The revolution of the ’60s and ’70s was bolder in language and action, but today’s manifestation is in some ways more threatening because terms are hidden, intentions blurred and the “opiate of the masses”—at least right now—is not religion, but Barack Obama.

“The spirit of the revolution will live on!” declared Dohrn in 1980.

All of these same old ideas, converging at once on a new generation, with little memory of this past. We want to “connect to … rebuild on … the spirit of rebellion …of resistance,” said Ayres just last November. “The secret power of lawlessness is already at work,” wrote the Apostle Paul in the first century. Indeed.

That same passion I had as a 13-year-old girl has been awakened within me once again. Fortunately, thanks to the intervening years, I have vocabulary and knowledge on my side this time. I recognize the danger and will not be silent.

Helter Skelter
I'm not sure (I'll look it up), but I think the Beatles published the song before Charles Manson spliced it into his madness. Otherwise, I much agree with your excellent essay. It puzzles me that the MSM covers Obama like they do, but they do. It makes me think they're as much to suspect as he is.

Oh No! Obama the Messiah says Ayers is
an English Professor and Wright is his 'uncle'. This explanation of Obama about his america hating circle of friends is - not suitable for POTUS. Obama has turned out to be another inner city civil rights attorney - not presidential material. Good bye Hussein - you were so close!

Mike Pitzler
I remember reading 'Helter Skelter',by Vincent Bugliosi many years ago.The Beatles 'White Album',was used during Manson's murderous rampages. The Beatles may have written another song commemorating the murders, though.

Charlie thought he heard subliminal messages on the White Album'that gave him directions, which he followed.I think I am right about that.

The MSM will glorify anything and anyone who looks negatively at this country. They do not even claim to have any patriotism and look upon it as a weakness in the rest of us.

We are at a pivotal place in history and I worry if we can survive this year's election and how it will impact all of us.I pray for us as a nation.

Deja vu
Sandy,
I was born in Chicago, 1960. I remember the riots, the FALN, Black panthers, etc. Just this week I started a job a few doors down from where Ayers lives. The family names "Ayers and Dohrn" are on a casting on the front door. I was struck by how absurd it is to have terrorists proudly displaying their names, like advertising.
You are right on, Obama moved to Chicago specifically to be near these Alinsky inspired leftists, building credibility that cannot come from more blatantly anti american cities.
Mrs. Clinton is cut from the same ideological cloth. (Bill's FALN pardons, etc).
Thanks for writing,
Ken

I Am Afraid for My Country...
I am afraid that a revolution or rebellion is coming; and there is no way to stop it. The manner it will start will be instructive. A far left wing Liberal will take the office of POTUS. Congress will have just enough Liberals (both Democrats and Republicans) to allow a VERY Liberal agenda to be passed. This Liberal agenda will include HIGHER taxes, gun control laws (and possibly certain types of gun confiscation) at the Federal level, and entitlement programs of all kinds. Appeals will be made to the Supreme Court; but the "time" factor will be crucial (appeals to the Supreme Court take years).

In some out-of-the-way small town in the so called "flyover" portion of the country, Federal agents will attempt to implement the new gun control laws. The person, or persons, they pick will probably be members of some right wing gun club or "militia" group. The person, or persons, will decide to fight it out. Word will spread (via cell phones and the internet) quickly.

While the fight is on-going, citizens from the surrounding area will head to this small town. Some of the local police and sheriff's deputies will resign and join in with the citizens. The Federal agents will be vastly out-numbered. A "running" battle will take place as these Federal agents try to retreat. There will be deaths on both sides.

A news "black-out" will be enacted by the Federal government. However, news will spread quickly because of cell phones and the internet. It is possible that the governors of some states will shut down their borders; and federal officials in these states will be placed in "protective" custody.

Once the fighting starts, everyone will start picking sides; and the fighting will continue.

If all of this sounds familiar, you are correct. It happened in 1775. I am afraid it is about to happen again.

Mom Was Right
My mom used to always tell me that I would be judged by the company I kept. She had a saying that went something like 'tell me who your friends are and I'll tell you who you are'.

Will these people have access to the White House if he is elected?

You darned right
Cyclist:

Yes, these people will have access, not only to the White House, but to POWER. Through Obama and Company they will be given the highest appointments in the land and what havoc they will be able to foist on the country.

Ayers, Dhorn, and Wright
aren't the only acquaintances of Obama's who have hatred for this country. His own wife couldn't find a single attribute of the USA to be proud of until her husband started winning primaries. Not one thing.

And Hatem El-Hady, former fundraiser for Hamas, is now a fund-raiser for the Obama campaign. He had his own link on the campaign website until Neal Boortz exposed him last week, when it was quickly and quietly removed.

Obama hangs around a bunch of America-haters. I have to wonder how he feels about the country. Birds of a feather and all.

Wobbie, Wobbie, Wobbie...
Reading your comments makes me tired all over. That is exactly what George III and Parliament said in 1774.

You get an F-.

Gray Ghost

VICIOUS
I try to figure out this guy Bill Ayers. Both of us are Chicagoans, he from the southside while I lived near Cubs Park on the northside. His father was a double degreed (University of Michigan + Northwestern Law) my father was a physician. My father was a bit older but generally the two shared similar generational-societal experiences. Looking at the professional Bio of Thomas Ayers it is quite likely both men - now dead - knew one another. Bill Ayers father a lawyer my father a doctor both with strong upper middle-class financial bearing.
One distinction! My father served - US Navy - in World War Two. Bill Ayers father stayed in Chicago as an executive with the Commonwealth Edison Electric Corporation. My father, with a wife a three children to feed, lived on Navy pay, Bill Ayers father got executive pay packages and perks while the global conflict raged from Guadalcanal to Okinawa.
I attended Catholic grade school where everyone was equal but one thing we all shared was daddy in the War. The Dawson Brothers - held back two years before entering first grade - had no father, Barbara's daddy opened a tavern from the GI Bill, Dale's father in some hospital somewhere out of the city. World War Two was a silent something that effected all of us.
Bill Ayers knows the distinction of Daddy the Vet compared to Daddy the Tycoon and this imprint made him vicious.

Prediction of oblama's actions as POTUS
(1) Appoints Dohrn, Ayers, Rev Totally-wrong, Rezko, and el-Hady AS his cabinet
(2) "Janice Gamble"*** on entire Manson 'Family'.

***Convicted in 1976 of the murder of a Calgary policeman and sentenced to life, for which minimum eligibility for parole then was 25 years--and subject of a much-aired "Fifth Estate" interview on CBC. Released in 1988 due to creative misinterpretation of laws by then-PM Mulroney. Admittedly, comparison breaks down as Gamble was a one-time murderer (nothing has been heard from her since 1988) while Mansonites are unremorseful serial-mass-murderers.

The Rev. Wright can't shut up
Obama can't re-invent his history with very radical, anti-American people. Dems. don't like Clinton.

The left in the US is on the horns of a dilemma. If only the right can exploit this wonderful position for its opponents.

*** SPOILED TO THE CORE ***
BILL AYERS - ONE BIG SPOILED BRAT

BERNADETTE DORHN - Poor Little Rich Girl from Whitefish Bay Wisconsin not sent off to private boarding school with the other cheesy type girlies and instead of being the debutante is left to Cheerleader at the local high.
Daddy-kins though did pick up the tuition, room, board, drugs tab at University of Chicago then to Northwestern law.

THESE TWO RICHIES HAVE NEVER EARNED A REAL DOLLAR IN THEIR LIVES!

********** PREP SCHOOL BRAT **********
The Academy (known as "LFA") was founded in 1857 as a Presbyterian boys preparatory school. The Young Ladies' Seminary at Ferry Hall, later simplified to Ferry Hall School, was founded in 1869, and was considered a sister school. The schools proceeded with their separate missions until the early 1970s, at which point the schools began to coordinate their efforts. A merger of the schools to form the coeducational Lake Forest Academy-Ferry Hall School took place in 1974. Later, the school's name officially became Lake Forest Academy.[1]

Bill Ayers, political activist and professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago[19]

The Bill Ayers Bio mentions only one (1) degree bachelors from University of Michigan - where he became politically radicalized - but nothing else academically. So how now is he a "distinguished professor at University of Illinois - Chicago? Where is this brat's second degree and PhD - or maybe distinguished Brats from LFA don't need added academics to get high paying university jobs when someone has a high degree in building bombing, mayhem, and terrorism.

EGO TRIPPING
Room & Board plus being properly attired and socially active at LFA costs a minimum of $150,000.oo per year and to do the University of Michigan "Community Service" Strut in the midst of inner city school children while preaching academic opportunity through political radicalism is shear hypocrisy and anyone with a clear set of eyes can see through the perfidy.

*** SPOILED BRAT DRUG INDUCED EGO TRIPPING ****

Stinking Rats of the 60's
Do you remember the Astec foolball hero from San Diego State who held off a gang of those WU fools at the SD State flag pole. One great day for America.

These people ...
... should be in mental institutions.

Bill Ayers
When I was a freshman at U of Michigan, I volunteered at a local "free school", set up along radical Summerhill ideas -- teacher as facilitator, let the kids learn what they want when they want.

On my first day, a burly fellow dressed in overalls, red checked long sleeved wool shirt, curly hair and big Tom Selleck mustache. Did I forget the high topped construction workers boots? He posed and strutted, the center of attention of all the young mothers and female teachers.

"Who is that?" I asked. "Bill Ayers ... he's a big radical here on campus. His father is President of Commonwealth Edison." I remember thinking "what an A-hole." After following his career for many years, he is still an A-hole.

You can get a good summary of his career in David Horowitz's excellent book "The Destructive Generation".

A question -- "Billy" and Bernadine get well paying jobs at the University?

No sedonaman (@ 11:15)
They should have been 12 feet under--but escaped justice by plea-copping.

Bill Ayers
The question -- How did Bill and Bernadine get those secure jobs at the University? Who made the decision? What was the process? How much are the tax payers paying to have their students radicalized by these two people?

What is wrong with this picture?

RotoReverend
Just heard that Barack O'BoomBox the O'BoyToy of the Fascist-Crats just threw the "former" RotoReverend under the bus, over the cliff, zapped him with the Barack O'Eradicator over something heard consistently 20 years about Outer Space Alien Abductions at the United Church of Christ and the RotoReverend's ability to baptise children prior to BlastOff.

my 2 cents
This is ALL becoming public knowledge and so far the Republican hate machine hasn't had to do a thing. Same for the vast right wing conspiracy. Howard Dean and the boys must be having nightmares. Now that Hillary is winning the BIG states and all this stuff is coming about about bo and they might be stuck with him unless they do something as in put the boots to bo because they can smell a McGovern and the guy is black, well - kind of black, and whoever gets the nomination the supporters of the other one are gonna be mightily upset, to use a mild term, and well, you can't make this up.

Noone asked me of course, but I think we should kind of just keep our mouths shut and stand on the sideline and enjoy this because believe me - you CAN'T make this up

Nowhere near revolution
I was in college and grad school during the 60s and 70s and saw a lot of the student Left up close. I opposed them because I was then and still am a liberal. I knew that what they sought, and the fantasies they indulged while seeking it, had nothing to do with liberalism.
Groups like the Weathermen were coercive when it came to their own members--no internal democracy in those organizations--and totalitarian with respect to the rest of American society.

Ms. Rios attributes far more power to these folks than they ever really had. She writes:
"they were the bold spokesmen for a deep and evil spirit of lawlessness that nearly prevailed just three decades ago." No, they didn't 'nearly prevail,' not even close. They had no support beyond a small handful of people, and absolutely no chance of bringing about revolution. What they could do was engage in terrorism. I was on the University of Michigan campus when these people tried to blow up the Engineering building. They killed an engineering grad student who was working on his research project.

I'll also always remember seeing one of the biggest 'radical' student learders on the U of M campus getting flyers copied at a local printing shop, and using her mom's credit card to pay for it. Lenin and Trotsky would have been reduced to laughter at the sight of these 'revolutionaries.'

They were, and are, spoiled, self-indulgent fools. Unfortunately, Obama failed to see this, and so he is no longer my candidate of choice for the presidency.

Hmmmm....
Lemmie see here - Ayers came from a wealthy family. So did Osama bin Ladin. Both embrace a radical philosophy killing any innocent who gets in their way. Osama bin Ladin was more effective than Ayres in that he killed more people.

I wonder if Barry Hussein Obama would be as comfortable sitting down with Osama bin Ladin or Tim McVey as he would with the "respected" educator Ayers and his murderous wife.

I also notice that Ayers and his sweetie failed to kill their own parents as they recommended to others.

How could anyone with a brain like this guy? Because of his nice smile?

"SHIFT"
EXCUSE ME!
The O'BoyToy called me a racist - I live in Harlem an area free of Racists

Now some drug addled weirdo on TH calls me a member of the "Republican hate machine".

Initial Reality Check
- there are such things as drug addled
weirdos occupying space on TH

- there is no such thing as "Republican hate machine" that is comparable to "JudenRatch" an ungrounded insult.

There is a complete difference of "oppose" and taking a stand as there are differences of "policy" and "principle"

Labour Gov in the UK is shifting its "policy" based on Global Warming-Climate Change hysteria to that of "principle" of self preservation and universal benefit; ergo, at last, principle is superceding political policy and blind-block headed popularism.

If you identify being a "Fascist-Crat" - shift!

Deaf ears and blind eyes
The sixties (hippie) generation was my generation. Most of us enamored with the fast and free lifestyle of the era grew up, got a life and got a clue.

The rest got arrested and then became permanent fixtures in the only bureaucracy that could allow them to fulfill their ambitions of revolution, the U.S. Government and the indoctrination centers now called higher education.

They reside their still, but today, we call them Democrats. How ironic that the party that has as its moniker the term that implies Democracy, is the party that now caters to the relics of their anarchistic revolutionary past.

This is
an excellent article from a reliable source.

for Uncle Max
Uncle Max writes: "so far the Republican hate machine hasn't had to do a thing. Same for the vast right wing conspiracy....Now that Hillary is winning the BIG states"

But Hillary is winning with OUR help:

Her campaign copies talking-points on Rezko from such right-wing media as American Spectator. Hillary is going to be on O'Reilly Factor tomorrow and the day after. She's using Fox News and other right-wing media to reach the so-called "Reagan Democrats".

Richard Mellon Scaife is now on Hillary's side.

And last, but not least, Rush Limbaugh has been urging his listeners to vote for Hillary.

It's the oddest political alliance I've ever seen: The "vast right wing conspiracy" that Hillary used to denounce is now helping Hillary against Obama.

And Hillary is too much of an egomaniac to say no.

We are in trouble
Your next article could be about the Trotskyism Marxist past that some of the neocons in the Republican Party have. How do we know that they aren't taking orders from China and Cuba?
Here's a list to get you started.
Seymour Martin Lipset
Daniel Bell
Irving Howe
Nathan Glazer
Daniel Patrick Moynihan
Yves Roucaute
Lionel Trilling
Leo Strauss
Allan Bloom
Francis Fukuyama
Saul Bellow
Ben J. Wattenberg
I'm sure this post will be deleted since it doesn't fit the propaganda that your Marxist brothers in the Republican Party push like the Soviets did.
