Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Texas Gov. Rick Perry tells a story of a conversation that he had with his predecessor George W. Bush five months after both men took office, it occurred in June of 2001, shortly after the president had his first meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Perry explains that typically a Bush conversation is pretty quick to the chase, asking about his wife and kids and good-bye. But nearly forty minutes later Bush is still on the phone asking about who got the best of who in the Texas state legislature and catching up on all of the intrigues of Texas politics.

Perry says the homesickness was obvious in the president’s voice and as the conversation ended Bush said to him, “Hey Perry, remember that conversation we had in the governor's office about 18 months ago when I told you being the governor of Texas was the greatest job in the world?”

“Well, it is” Bush told him.

In the end as in the beginning much of the story of George W. Bush is that he really a Texan. He would really rather be in Texas than Washington. It is his home, his comfort zone. He considers Washington cold and cruel and Texas warm and genuine.

“More than that, he knows the issues in Texas” said political scientist Rob Maranto explaining that while in Washington Bush always had to stretch, often getting things wrong.

Bush found Texas Democrats, who are often center-right, casual, friendly, boisterous, trustworthy, and easy to work with, very unlike Washington Democrats.

“Bush has good instincts, good strategic vision” said Maranto, “he knew where he wanted to take the country, and many of his ideas made sense. His problems came in the tactics, in the execution. Because he personalized policy he kept on loyal subordinates even when they had screwed up royally, while firing those seen as competent, but more independent.”

As Bush’s shadow grows shorter around the halls of the White House and the world and excitement shifts toward President-elect Barack Obama the business of the White House must still go on.

The late Tony Snow told the Trib in an interview in 2006 that Bush “has a clock that tells you how many days we have left in the administration”

Then the White House press secretary Snow explained that Bush had told every cabinet secretary to think about everything they could do between now the end of “our” time in office.

“It will be a sprint to the finish” said his outgoing secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff in an interview last week.

Chertoff says that history will judge this president favorably, “He had big challenges under his watch and he never walked away from a challenge, he never said let me make this the next guys problem.”

Knocking on wood Chertoff says that the president had done what was considered unbelievable seven years ago, “which is kept this country safe for seven years.”

America’s relationship with George W. Bush is complicated.

He came into office haunted by a chorus of “stolen election” verses thrown at him only to then suddenly be vaulted to the forefront of the greatest tragedy to hit the soil of our country.

He was our hero in immediately sending our troops to Afganistan; he became our divider over Iraq.

His nomination of John Roberts and Samuel Alito to the nation's highest court were solid, too bad they followed Harriet Myers, Katrina and the Social Security Road Tour.

Here are two of the president’s problems, first he is not all that flexible, when he makes a decision he makes a decision, he is not comfortable revisiting decisions. In the right circumstances that is decisiveness and steadfastness, but in the wrong circumstances it is just plain stubbornness.

Second, Bush personalizes policy to too great a degree, as when he claimed to have looked into Vladimir Putin's soul and found goodness.

Maranto says those flaws really came out in Iraq. “Basically Iraq destroyed the administration, had Iraq gone well in the first year, rather than now in the fifth year, Bush would be 25% higher in the polls and we would be looking at President John McCain not Barack Obama” explains Maranto.

In time we will come to focus on the many Bush successes, No Child Left Behind, terrific policies toward Africa and Asia, and yes only a fool cannot note that we have not been attacked in the past 7 years. Despite the focus on the economy and domestic issues keeping us safe is what will be President-elect Barack Obama's greatest bar to meet when it comes to Bush.

There have been many claims that under Bush that conservatism has died that may be a stretch.

For a long time conservatives had it right on so many things: taking a hard line against communism, fighting crime, free trade, and welfare reform. What has crippled conservatism is that they were unable to see when they were wrong, a lot like liberals in the 1960’s.

Bush thought if he could just out-Reagan Reagan, all would be well. Unfortunately, he wasn't flexible enough to change course when that turned out to be wrong.

As Chertoff ends his interview I ask him if being the president is a lonely job.

“Yes, it’s tough, it’s a tough job.”

End the Federal Reserve. It is a system that the incompetent President George W. Bush used to bail out his socialist cronies in Citigroup, Glodman Sachs, Bear Stearns, AIG, etc.

The Federal Reserve prints money out of thin air to fund parasite banks that push paper and don't produce products.

..

Sad justification for a sad job...
The political pundit opines that the management of the Iraq war was what solidified his low approval ratings...Well Salena, let's not have the facts get in the way of a good appeasement column...1. The Bush group came in with the notion of elevating power in the Executive Branch to unprecedented levels. In pursuit of this goal, they alienated friends and foes alike. 2. The Iraq war was not a "good idea" that was poorly managed. The war was ill conceived and initiated with faulty intelligence and diabolical political spin. 3. The approval ratings plunged, for good, after the incompetence of the administration was confirmed with the Katrina disaster....No Salena. America does not have a "complicated" opinion about George W. Bush. Less than 10% of the non-Conservative American population has a positive view of this President...The ONLY reason that Bush has the lofty rating of 27% is due to the Conservatives like Zito who inflate the approval ratings because they see something "complicated" that no one else sees...It's either that or there's a group of Conservatives who don't know how to accept the mistake of believing and supporting the wrong idea..In that case, they have their President - indeed.

God Bless President George W. Bush
History will vindicate him. He kept us safe and the world is a better place because of him.

Worst of all alternatives
I'm not sure what's worse: woefully enduring the waning days of the Bush presidency or dreadfully anticipating the O-fascist 'rule'.

**NC Deb - sure GW showed some gonads and used the military appropriately and deserves credit for holding the militants at bay.

Domestically, however, he's been an unmitigated disaster. Obscene spending, 'new tone' - dhimmi's dictating the agenda, 'compassionate conservatism (i.e. liberalism practiced by a republican), out of control federal bureaucracy - uncheck 5th column shadow gov't, judgeships unfilled, losing both houses of Congress, the GOP in disarray, assisting in turning the federal government over to the radical leftist fascists, economy in a tailspin, etc. ad nauseum.

History will vindicate him? Perhaps, if there's a history written by anyone other than the anti-American barbarians he unwittingly assisted and enabled to take over.

Butchered future generations won't be there to vindicate him - that's certain.

History will look favorably upon George.

Many Presidents were popular and unpopular at the time they left office only to have a second look with a better prespective changing that opinion later on.

Bush has served us well. He had the courage to do what his Father and Bill Clinton did not and that was to take on terrorist with or without Europe's help.

We now know that France and Germany had very close business ties with Saddam and didn't want him removed because they wanted to maintain the status quo. Same is true for Russia.

These states that lack a moral compass will not go down in history as virtuous leaders. George Bush will.

Liberals who attacked George Bush will also not go down well in history. They hated Bush from Day one. They hated a man who never hurt anyone but adored a man like Bill Clinton who left a trail of disasters with people close to him. They will not do well.

It is irrational to hate someone who has never hurt anyone. These are irrational people.

God Bless George Bush.

The irrational belief in a lie.

I really like the bozos who honest and truely believe George Bush lied to get us into a war.

For them to believe that, they have to believe that Bill Clinton lied, Hillary Clinton lied, Tony Blair lied, Vadamire Putin lied, the U.N. Security council, The presidents of France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Eygpt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait. All of whom own intellegence services agreed with George Bush.

Again these are not rational people. They are full of hate. And as we all know hate can blind you.

Ken
"It is irrational to hate someone who has never hurt anyone. These are irrational people."

This Statement of yours is funny in a cynical way. Bush has gotten thousands of people killed by his policies, not only overseas, but here as well.

You're half correct. I do hate Bush, but for the same reasons I do Clinton and there are a number of them. For starters, both of them hold the Constitution in contempt and have done what they can to gut it. Both have engaged in overseas wars that had nothing to do with us. Clinton in the Balkans and Bush in Iraq.

And this, and it may be the worst of all and that is trying to turn the US into a third world barrio with the ensuing crime. Hate them? Damn right, they are both traitors who should be put on trial and convicted.

But hey, when you are a hardcore partisan and it is your boy committing the crimes, well, that's different.

I hope to see this come to pass one day.

Ryan01 from CA

Sorry Ryan, President Bush hasn't hurt anyone.

If you mean the war, well we hire the president to conduct war. That is one of his functions.

Approval or disapproval of the war is really based on what Liberal media news source you might have. Has nothing to do with the facts.
We elect the President to do our bidding. At the time we engaged in war he had our approval.
Once we begin a war, we just can't stop on a dime. That too would be irrational.

As far as constituion is concerned, actually Bush appointed some very fine Federal Judges.

I know of no rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness I have lost while Bush has been in office.

I can't say the same for Bill Clinton and other Liberal presidents. Liberal Presidents have a bad habit of taking freedom away from the American people.

GW thru leadership, knowhow and faith
has saved not only yours and mine but the countries bacon from another 9/11 for the last seven years. We can only pray without looking funny and to the only God there is that our loved ones won’t be in the oslimeball massacre we may yet face.

J Carter to date is the worst pres we have had, though slick willie tried to out do him and IMHO came very close, we have the lack of leadership, knowhow and faith of slick willie to thank for 9/11.

We can thank Carter and slick willie for the CRA and osama obama and acorn for implementing it and using the feds to bring down the economic house thru sub prime loans, political correctness and of course the ever popular affirmative action.

Later when you can’t afford the rationed electricity you have and most likely your mortgage and that’s if your lucky enough to still have a job you can always count on oslimeball to just give you a check, yea right.

Ms. Zito
You see Bush as trying to out-Reagan Reagan? Hardly.

Sam, calling someone "a piece of trash"
does not say much about your upbringing.

R E
I wouldn't trade my freedom and 1st & 2nd amendment rights for King George W. Bush's 9/11 security anyday.

George W. Bush can take his 9/11 security and shove it.

..

AmericanWoman
What about your upbringing. Loving and supporting the fraudulent government and not speaking out against it like a "coward".

Doesn't say much for you.

..

An obvious inference...
...is that no Texan is fit for the White House.
Sorry.
It's just those Texans who were raised to believe in "Tall Texas Tales" who are unfit--not to mention good ol' boys you'd like to have a beer with.

Bush was torched
over problems after Katrina that were the Governor's and Mayor's responsibility, not his. He and the rest of the country were forced to pay a lot of money to people who did not bother to pay for their insurance like the rest of us have to (we can't afford it, either) take responsibility for their own safety, after repeated warnings that the hurricane would be catastrophic in Biblical proportions, or their own situation after plenty of time had passed for them to move on and find another job or whatever.

Rebuilding went on in those areas that still wouldn't pass code in ours, we paid for a lot of that, and building codes are the local responsibility. A lack of them is what led to so many deaths.

The Democrats have been playing the game of passing the buck for years, young people don't know the difference and fall for it, and many have grown up to hate, whine, abuse, lie, violate and rob other people.

I have yet to live through a Presidency where there weren't plenty of mistakes made and Bush sure did make his share, too. Do Obama supporters want us to give him the same chance you gave Bush, zero, squat, zilch? Should we bash and abuse him, no matter how many things he does right? Or would you rather we treated him better than you've treated anyone? Get real, you hypocrites.

I've said plenty, Sam, pay attention
and don't blame me for your rotten behavior, I'm not your mother.

Ken
"Sorry Ryan, President Bush hasn't hurt anyone."

Oh, but he has. Look at all the Americans that have been killed by illegal aliens that Bush didn't do anything about over the last seven years. Yes, I *feel* so much safer.

"
Approval or disapproval of the war is really based on what Liberal media news source you might have. Has nothing to do with the facts."

I use my computer for more than simply reading some of the crap that passes for informed political thought here. There are all sorts of news sources out there besides here and neocon talk radio. Neocon talk radio is the worst source for information, a real open sewer for lies and disinformation. It takes otherwise intelligent people and makes them stupid, ignorant and lazy, much like tv has done to liberals. When I consider this, this is why I could make an argument to bring back the fairness doctrine. Just think, people would have to start reading again instead of having those skulls full of mush filled with Limbaughian pig crap. It would be either that or they would quit voting. After seeing McDole get the nomination maybe that isn't such a bad idea. But not to worry, the democrats would be fools to bring back the fairness doctrine.

"I know of no rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness I have lost while Bush has been in office."

You have, you simply don't realize it yet. Perhaps one day you will and at the same time realize this old "liberal" verses "conservative" nonsense is a way the parties keep their members in line. I'm happy to say I outgrew political parties years ago.

God Bless George W. Bush and the USA
Because of the Bush Tax Cuts our econoimy was doing very well until the '06 elections when you dumbazzs gave control of the Congress to the DIMS.

There are videos of Clinton,Reid, Pelosi, Rockerfeller, Kennedy, Durbin, Blocker and many more DIMS saying emphatically that Saddam had WMDs prior to the election of Bush. All of them were saying he had the WMDs and would use them. All said we needed to take him out.

It was the supposed Rebublican Colin Powell who talked Bush 41 out of taking him out in the Gulf War.

Bush and even McCain pushed for the last 8 years to do something about Fannie and Freddie but the DIMS blocked them at each point. As with the WMDs there are plenty of videos and newspaper stories about Dodd, Obama, Frank and the many more black and liberal congress people stating time after time that there was no trouble with Fannie and Freddie. Yeah, right!

Well, look where that got us.

You Bush Bashers are complete idiots. To bad we will pay for your stupidity by electing Obama and more DIMS to congress.

Ken
Why don't we let historians decide for themselves what history will say about George W. Bush? The facts are in yet. It will be decades before they are. It's a very masturbatory game to pretend to know what historians will say about anything.

Suffice it to say that without George W. Bush there would have been no Barack Obama as #44. The Democrats were able to muster a national disgust with #43 to put the most left-leaning wet-behind-the-ears neophyte into office in United States history. History's view of Bush has a lot to do with what Obama does as president.

For true conservatives, George Bush began destroying our good name when he got on his big fat jet of state, and flew it back to Washington D.C. for the sole purpose of intruding the entire federal government up the rectums of a single American family in crisis. It was at that repugnant Schaivo moment he showed himself to be an anti 1st Amendment religious zealot, the polar opposite of a conservative and began a downward spiral into political impotence.

We'll wind down his boneheaded war one way or another, and then start casting around for somebody who is an actual conservative to pick up the tattered banner of our movement, although it will likely take at least two generations before the damage done to the brand by your precious George W. Bush can be reversed.

Re: Let the hangings begin
As long as we start with congressman and senator being strung up from every light pole on Pennsylvania Ave, I'm in. let's start with the Democrats.

bubba
"There are videos of Clinton,Reid, Pelosi, Rockerfeller, Kennedy, Durbin, Blocker and many more DIMS saying emphatically that Saddam had WMDs prior to the election of Bush. All of them were saying he had the WMDs and would use them. All said we needed to take him out."

Whoopee! So what? I don't give a damn what they were saying at that time. I knew they were lying then as well as the Bush administration.

I love you "party first" partisans who can only see things from this idiotic republicans verses democrats. Most of you fail to realize a sizable number of us don't give a rat's rearend about your stupid parties.

Bush Backers Closet Dems?
Bush has left us with Dems FIRMLY in control of Congress and with the "most liberal" Senator who has very little experience in the White House. Some parting gift, aye? American woman apparently thinks so.

Furthermore, by steadfastly insisting on keeping the borders open, Bush has infused the voting pool with countless future generations of liberal voters who are impoverished and looking for gov't benefits. Not only will we be paying those benefits, but our wages are suppressed by people who are desperate for a job and will work for $5/hr.

His ridiculous spending has left the country in a weakened condition and has left many future generations with overwhelming debt. Yes, I know Congress proposes the budgets, but Bush's aversion to using the veto pen has been extremely costly.

Zito is very short-sighted in saying that McCain would have won if Iraq had been quick and neat. Iraq was far in the background next to the economic problems. McCain's statement that the fundamentals of the economy are strong shortly before the stock market collapse epitomized the Republican ignorance of economic issues.

She is also really having to reach to come up with accomplishments for Bush. No Child Left Behind, an accomplishment? It was another multi million dollar program that failed to improve education- that's an accomplishment? Just listen to Dem campaign rhetoric- a reference to that bill scores them easy political points. Free trade? Free trade relates to economic policy- do you really want to go there in this environment? Bush and his cronies see a sound economy as Americans borrowing money to buy products made in China and other low wage countries.

Please, abandon this man and salvage some pretense of objectivity.

T
The Schaivo vote was a ghastly thing and an abuse of power. That was a state issue and here we have Bush trying to use it in a ham handed manner for blatant political purposes. I think that a lot of people did get disgusted over that and decided on that as one more reason to throw out these morons. And to think, this crowd hollers about rouge judges.

Too bad the religious nuts couldn't have shown the same enthusiasm for dealing with the illegal alien problem as they did over Schaivo.

Texas
Bush may love Texas bit I am not sure Texas loves him anymore.

Bubba is the reason Barack won election
Because bubba never knew the issues that played this election off such as the "The Federal Reserve".

Bubba was to busy drinking beer, listening to the heroin/oxycontin Rush Limbaugh, and watching FOX News while illegal aliens were mowing his lawn.

..

Ryan01
The Terry Schiavo murder was a right to life issue. She was murdered by the black robed scum of the Judiciary.

What Crippled Conservatism?
"What has crippled conservatism is that they were unable to see when they were wrong, a lot like liberals in the 1960’s."

What crippled conservatism was Country Club Republicanism. No Child is not conservative. School Choice is. Prescription Drug was not Conservative. Entitlement reform is. An extra trillion dollars in federal spending per year is not conservative. Limited government is. Open borders and being mealy-mouthed and wishy washy about terrorists and thugs (c.f., Palestine, Iran, and North Korea, for starters) is not conservative, either.

Bush spent too much time triangulating and too little time persuading. That's why the economy tanked and that's why we have looming problems in North Korea, Russia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Palestine.

It Is Complicated!
Sometimes I get tickled when I read about the wisdom and understanding expressed in many of the comments on Town Hall and other political sites.

If I am not careful even I find myself being pulled into the rhetoric of a discussion. I find myself saying things from a plain worldly stand point.

I’m not ashamed to say that I believe the Bible. In it is wisdom and understanding.

If I didn’t look at it from a spiritual stand point, I still would have to say that Proverbs was written by one wise man.

I have found nothing in it that is not rational and relevant to our times.

I may not be the most educate dude in town, but I know when a nation is going the wrong direction, and we are.

For a society that is scientifically and economically advanced, we are a seriously screwed up society. But everyone thinks we are a progressive, free thinking society with the only problem being that we have a bunch of idiots at the helm.

The Bible puts it this way; everyone seeks that which is right in his own eyes, while ignoring the righteousness of God.

As God goes, so goes a nation and its society.

Bush is a decent man. I don’t know if any person, man or woman is up to the task of running a nation without making mistakes.
It’s true that Bush has made his share, but haven’t they all.
We just have short memories.

I’m sure that we will be focus on Barack Obama’s in a short while.

The comment made about neocon’s listening to Rush and Hannity. I listen to them, but I also read and listen to many sources. I believe that people are feeding on drivel from the left as well.
People need to come to grips with the fact that two parties are promoting there own propaganda. You have to be able to see through the crap.

Often we think that we know what’s going on and we don’t know doodle.

Change and Hope
The thing that the Dems don't get and are about to get a real taste of, is, it can in fact be worst, and much , much worse.

So we have elected an adminstration based on vauge promises to every special interset group out their. Unions, black, hispanics, academic liberal, ect.

The problem is you cannot give everyone what they think they deserve. The first pile off S$$$ hits the fan when the feds realize there is no way they can bail out the auto unions. (Saving Ford or GM is secondardy to the auto workers union here).

Once the unions are pissed that Obama could not save their jobs (Because their products suck and the free market is working as it should). Thaft will be the first step. The conclusion will be the next off tear election, when some rational though comes back to our elected offficals.

Fault
The President, whoever it is, gets the credit or blame for everything, but only has the power to present legislation. Presidential guilt is in signing the earmarked laden spending bills and other worthless legislation that Congress does pass, when it actually does do something.

The monstrous increase in our national debt and failing infrastructure are the blame of the Legislative branch of government, i.e. Congress. Their time is spent squandering our nation’s wealth for personal and political gain.

It is not only the Legislative branch that is dragging this country down. Our Constitution, the peoples’ document, has been handed over to power tripping lawyers and the ideologue jurists in the Judiciary. They ordered the word of God removed from public buildings and displays across this land, yet His very words, the Ten Commandments, hang on the walls of the Supreme Court. Hypocrisy! Too many decisions handed down by these appointees have been to the benefit of the government and not the people. It seems they have forgotten the intent of the Bill of Rights, to protect individuals from an overbearing government. These decisions then become “law” because Congress is busy taking care of themselves.

So blame the Executive Branch for everything if you must. But don't let the other two branches off the hook.

Civics really needs to be taught in this country again.

Rob
"Civics really needs to be taught in this country again."

Let's start with you. The Schiavo case was a state issue, not a federal. If you want to make it a federal issue, try amending the Constitution.

One other thing. I hate to tell you this, but Terry Schiavo was already brain dead, when the life support was shut off.

Obama the Messiah
How long will it take before buyers remorse set in? So many drank the Obama koolaid.

Ryan01
Brain dead or not, her family was willingly to take care of her.

Let's hope you never get that way and your ex-wife decides you should die.

Ryan01
State of Federal court doesn't matter. The fact is her right to life was taken by the murderous judges.

Forget quality of life. We have a right to life in this country

BUSHS RETURN TO TEXAS
I WISH HIM WELL IN RETURNING TO TEXAS.. I THINK HE DID A GREAT JOB ON VERY HARD ISSUES AND WE , I HOPE,WILL APPRECIATE, LATER , THAT HE DID HAVE WISDOM AND GUIDED US DOWN A SAFE PATH... IT HURTS ME INSIDE MY HEART TO SEE HIM MISTREATED AND DISSED SO BADLY...JEAN, LOUISIANA

Shelly from CO

Shelly,

You know after 6 years of war not 0ne Terrorist has come forth and said they were tortured.

Not one terrorist has said they have even seen any torture.

Not one terrorist has been displayed on TV with scars, burn marks, broken bones.

Hundreds have been through Gitmo.

Not one interigator has said anyone has made them torture.

Red Cross, Lawyers, ACLU have visited and interviewed all of them.

No complaints of torture.

I guess that kinda makes you out of the meainstreeam or what is known as the fringe of America.

Now you need to go back to the left wing Media and blogs sites and tell them you need proof there was any torture because they have you going around the internet saying things without any evidence.

RDK, YOU ARE WRONG, WRONG, WRONG
Texans do love George W. Bush and also respect him. All of you who have bashed Bush watched MSNBC too much. I have not agreed with Bush on every issue, but then I don't with every President. History will vindicate Bush. He is an honest sincere man who always put his country and Americans security first.
When the Obama boy is tested, and he will be, the sabers are rattling already, he wil start stuttering and run hide under Hillary's skirts.
Some of you Bush haters wil wish you had a strong man in the White House again instead of a tall skinny, big ear Jackass who will "change" with the wind.

Ryan01 from CA

If an illegal alien kills a U.S. Citizen, that is the illegal alien who harmed someone not the President. Place the blame properly.

All the President can do is sign the immigration bill once congress passes it and then implement it.

Congress has failed to pass an immigration bill not the President. Again place the blame properly.

Again back to Constitutional rights. You are free to list whatever rights you may think we lost under Bush. So far you have not.

Bush has no respect for Constitution
George W. Bush has respect for the "Communist Manifesto" like his minion father.

..

Sam From GA

And your proof is??

Rob
And apparently you will suffer anything up to and including a Stalinist jack-booted government for your "right to life?" You would be so very happy in Iran, my friend, or China. Not that they respect a right to life, mind you, but their governments also feel they have a right to do anything to their citizens to enforce whatever moral code is au courant at any given moment.

Ken
Example: Take a look at the United States from what it was under Ronald Reagan to what it is now.

How do you like the fact that all these new domestic spy forces via the Patriot Act are now under a Democratic Congress and an phony new president "Barack" Mussolin "Obama"?

Was George W. Bush going to use the patriot act to stamp out "terrorist"? Please...

George W. Bush was force to pass tyrannical powers from the orders of the Federal Reserve Central Banks to Barack H. Obama who is to use the "Patriot Act" on anyone who disagrees with his environmental youth brigades, his civilian national security force (used for stampeding a revolt-against his global carbon tax initiatives, pegging the US Dollar to a global currency, etc). I could go on.

But George W. Bush didn't want to stamp out terrorists. George W. Bush was following orders from the "Private Federal Reserve Bank" that issues the currency to fund his tyranny agenda and move that forward to Obama.

Bush and Obama don't work for you. They work for the "Private Federal Reserve Bank", which is not Federal (but criminal).

Trained from diapers to believe any piece of crap statistic put out by institutions such as the United Nations just so long as it fits a preconceived mode: United States Bad, Rest of PLanet Good; Big Business Bad, Government Workers Good; Leftists Saints, Rightists Devils.

There is no use either reading your drivel or arguing it with you as you have never come up with an original thought in your life. In grade school, parroting liberal trash got you stars on your forehead. In high school it made you popular and less of a geek. And in college, it got you A on term papers, and occasionally got panties off of co-eds. No wonder it's all you believe in, all you know.

You're human mynah bird, squawking out whatever your liberal masters tell you, hoping for a cracker.

Ken
"If an illegal alien kills a U.S. Citizen, that is the illegal alien who harmed someone not the President. Place the blame properly."

No, that might work on the Sean Hannity show, but not here. Logic, reason, and critical thinking skills do. Bush is the chief excutive. It is his job to enforce the laws involving the borders. By "the laws", I mean the ones already on the books. Bush has deliberately been negligent on enforcement at the behest of his Wall Street buddies and his cheap labor supporters. On that alone he should have been impeached, but then again, he is a Republican and that's different. If he were a Democrat you people would be all over him, unless you like illegals. (a lot of Republicans do)

As for lost amendments we have the fourth amendment and the repeal of habeus corpus for starters. Signing statements are also an abuse of power. You don't care now, for I bet you are one of those folks who say "as long as I don't break the law you have nothing to fear." Screw that, the laws are to limit the power of govt., not the other way around. Wait till Obama starts using these various repeals of the Bill of Rights against you and I bet you'll become "born again" when it comes to the Constitution. You can thank the GOP and some Democrats like Lieberman for this.

It's going to be fun watching y'all go nuts over this.

NO REAL MEN !

"All the President can do is sign the immigration bill once congress passes it and then implement it.

Congress has failed to pass an immigration bill not the President. Again place the blame properly."

That's kind of an odd argument. A president is, among other things, chief law enforcement officer of the nation as CEO. He controls the entire apparatus of enforcement. A president does not need to wait around for a new immigration bill in order to enforce existing law. These 25 million illegals are, what's the word? oh yeah, ILLEGAL. A president, like a district attorney or a sherrif, picks and chooses which laws among the tens of thousands to enforce vigorously at any given moment, and that decision is always primarily a political one.

Bush had the congressional authority to build the wall and did not. He had the power to deport and did not. He had the power to sic government on employers who flount immigration laws and did not.

To suggest he was hamstrung sitting around waiting for Congress to act is at best disingenuous, and at worst, a damnable lie.

Bush is the "DECIDER"
George W. Bush decided to open the borders to 100 million illegals. What a worthless human being.

..

T.
So you think the government has a right to kill you if they deem you right to life is unjust in their view. Sig Heil dude.

If Americans talked trash to Bush
George W. Bush could barely utter a coherent sentence back in English. But George W. Bush could certainly can speak "Spanish" pretty fluently..

1) Bill Clinton was the first "BLACK" president.

2) George W. Bush was our first "ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT" president.

Translate that?

Re 9/11 - A Dire Warning Ignored

SALENA ZITO writes: "Knocking on wood Chertoff says that the President had done what was considered unbelievable seven years ago, 'which is kept this country safe for seven years.'”

It's true we haven't been attacked in the last seven years. Question is WHY we were attacked on Sept. 11, 2001, and Pres. Bush in effect supplied the answer when he virtually admitted in a speech at Traverse City, Mich., on Aug. 16, 2004 that Pres. Bush and his team had failed to take seriously the terrorist threats which abounded during the summer of 2001.

Particularly the dire warning provided by two CIA agents via the Aug. 6, 2001 President's Daily Brief (PDB) in which the CIA agents warned: 'BIN LADEN DETERMINED TO STRIKE IN U.S."

As recorded in the 9/11 Commission Report, even though Pres. Bush had himself directed the CIA to advise him whether the terrorist threats pointed to an attack upon the U.S., and even though the CIA analysts had warned the threat of attack was 'CURRENT AND SERIOUS,' Mr. Bush still considered the Aug. 6, 2001 CIA report to be "historical in nature." Five weeks later the terrorists struck.

Rob
That is crap demagoguery. Has nothing to do with the Schaivo particulars and is unworthy of response.

She asked, I replied

At about age 5, when we lived in Calif., daughter Linda asked, “Since I was born in Dallas, does that mean I am a Texan?”

I replied, “If you were born in a barn would that mean you are a cow?”

Texas is even more different

When people say the US is “…one nation, indivisible …” consider the few similarities and the many differences between the Maine lobster trapper and his home and way of life, with the cowboy in Montana, and with the people who live on the mountain-side above Beverly Hills in Southern California!
_______________________________
Not major differences that would make the people incompatible and contentious, but a shade of difference, that adds character and interest to both the people and their land.

The US is “… one nation, indivisible … ”
with many differences!

But have you noticed that the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders are the most beautiful and sexy of any cheerleader for any other team. And that is important.

(Remember, a Fascist is a far left idiot, right between a socialist and communist.)

Get off it, Hitler was just a ruler of a large European country until the mid-to late ‘30. What he did and where he got it, was no different from anything being done today and every day.

Remember, GE was selling stuff to Saudi Arabia long after their citizens bombed the towers on 911.

I have always hated Hitler, but to complain about what he did in early ‘30s, is to backdate history.

And look at the countries and rulers BamBam will deal with in the next couple of years.

Blaming Bush for everything, a lifestyle

If this election has shown one thing it is that for the most part people vote on their emotions and not the issues.
We've been so blessed for so long, we take everything for granted, and have become very lazy. Ask most people on either side of the coin why they voted for a particular canidate and you get answersd like, CHANGE, he's a maverick. Dig a little deeper and ask a voter what issues they agree with a candidate on, and many times all you get is a blank look.
Bush has been hated from the day he "STOLE" the election from the windbag Al Gore.
Bush caused the hurricane, Bush is the reason the world hates us, Bush is the reason there is an illegal immigration problem.
Putting blame on ohters (Bush as of late) goes back to Adam and Eve. How one may ask???
Adam when confronted by God about eating the apple replied, she made me do it. A pattern that is seen with the bailouts, broke governments, and everyhting that has gone wrong in the world. Blame Bush or someone else.
Many people are so easily influenced and canot form an opinion of their own, they rely on the mainstream media or another uniformed person, who would question that every disaster is Mr. Bush's fault.

BUSH PRESIDENCY OF HURRICANES
THE PRESIDENCY OF "W" WILL BE KNOWN FOR ITS STORMS, THE ATTACKS OF 911,HURRICANES, TORNADOS,
FLOODS, AND DROUGHTS, THE ECONOMY BAILOUTS.

Please point out my excuses for Bush
I made no excuses what so ever for Mr. Bush.
Here is what I did say to refresh that short term memory of yours, "Bush has been hated from the day he "STOLE" the election from the windbag Al Gore.
Bush caused the hurricane, Bush is the reason the world hates us, Bush is the reason there is an illegal immigration problem."
Robert, I understand your passion, ut take a deep breath and read what I wrote, my post wasut blaming others not taking responsibiltiy for one's actions. I in no way put blame for anything on anyone, I was posting about the subject.
Let me add to my title,
Hating Bush is also a lifestyle. Example,,,Robert.
Robert's hatred of the President is ovious, it spews from him. Robert writes, "Had Bill Clinton did what BUsh has done in Iraq and done it as badly...people like you would need tranquilizers you would be so angry."
Let us refresh Robert about the US involvment in Bosnia under slick Willy, or perhaps he had forgotten.
It will be interesting to see the Messiah and his soon to come marketing campaign,
"I am not responsible for anything bad that happens for the next 4 years, it's W's fault or the result of something he did. I also cannot be held accountable to all of the empty promises I have made, please know that this is aldo W's fault."

Goodness!
Anything positive written about Bush sure brings out the haters! I have to laugh.

We MUST hold Obama to the exact same standards that Bush has been held to. It will be intersting to see! Already my liberal co-workers are saying that we have to give Obama a pass because we can't expect him to be perfect...well, they expected Bush to be perfect, so why can't we expect the same from Obama?

Hopefully, those of you on a rant about the Constitution will be up in arms (literally) when Second Amendment Rights are under attack. Hopefully, you will get on that high horse when First Amendment Rights are under attack. Hopefully you will not stoop to shrieking racist any time there is criticism of Obama.

For the next four years, I do not want to hear one excuse about anything that happens, and I don't want to hear justifications either. Since you expected absolute perfection (and magically bestowed powers on him that he actually did not have) on President Bush, we on the right expect the same perfection from Obama that you expected from Bush. We will be there to point out every single mess up (and there will be plenty).

DOTTIE, I'M WITH YOU
I'll join your club to hold Obama accountable for every move he makes for the next four years. He gets no free passes from the consevative side. Anyone who has so many secrets in his past needs to be watched. Let's keep digging until we know who the real Obama is. We'll probably dig ourselves all the way to Kenya or Indonesia.

Thoughtful and Interesting
We lost blood and treasure to help people that will turn around and stick a knife in our collective back.

I voted for Bush 2x but I wish Gore or Kerry won. I don't like either guy in the least, but Bush getting us into Iraq was the worst move in presidential history. If you think I'm lying about being a conservative - take a minute and add up the facts. There were no wmd. Next consider the early celebration on the carrier and you've gotta conclude that Bush didn't know what was going on.

After we leave, Iraq is more likely to cut a deal with China or India than give us a $.01 discount per gallon - just like Kuwait didn't after we saved their sorry behind.

carlos
1st off, the carrier scene (i.e. 'Mission Accomplished) was not Bush's idea. That was purely the carrier's crew who came up with that one.

But it might have been accomplished much sooner if the effort wasn't actively sabotaged by elements within the CIA and the State Dept. (read Timmerman's 'Shadow Warriors).

Iraq may very well not act in accordance with our desired wishes in the future but it won't be because of Bush but more likely because of O-fascist has al Queda/Iran to move back into Iraq. And we never went into Iraq to extort a cheaper price per barrel of oil from the Iraqis.

And last, but not least, Bush did stand up to a fundamentalist Islamic terror outfit bent on spreading Anti-American/Western terror world-wide and sent tens of thousands of them to the imaginary virgins.

correction
...has Enabled al Queda/Iran to move back into Iraq.

Bush is a great Prez
He singlehandedly put an end to the Conservative movement as a national entity. He exposed it as a movement based on hate, fear, lies, greed, cronyism and incompetence.
His policies created millions of new Democrats. He also made young people realize that politics are important and they showed this overwhelmingly on Nov.4th.
And thanks to W. there probably wont be another Republican or Conservative running the country for at least 20 years.

Hosekuervo
Right in all particulars except the part about Bush being a conservative or exposing conservatism. Bush was and is not a conservative, Bush was and is a fundamentalist and he exposed the hate, bigotry, and fear tactics of the Christian Right - the Mullahs, Imams, and Ayatollahs of Jesus.

If you are not just a left wing robot, if you have an open mind, read the writings of Barry Goldwater to acquaint yourself with what conservatism REALLY is. You might actually find yourself agreeing with it.

But you are right in suggesting Bush destroyed the brand. For now. But politics is nothing if not about resurrection and all it takes is for a bright star to rise on the right before the brand will be put right, because like it or not, in all times and in all places, there is a balance between left and right, and when one predominates, either side, you suffer dictators and totalitarianism.

Enjoy your time in the sun with Barack Obama. We'll see how long it lasts - it is not determinent upon the enthusiasm of his young followers and their envialb but hubristic sense of self-righteolusness, but upon how he does his job in a world increasingly hostile to our interests.

When push comes to shove there are thousands upon thousands of people on earth who would like to see YOU, personally, dead right now. Don't matter that you feel solidarity with their "causes," they want you dead and they want your stuff. Never forget that.

T Re: BIG EDUCATION produced Williams
Also, we might start bringing attention to 'BIG EDUCATION' and the enormous money black hole it has become. Consider that William is the product it produces at annual tuition increases of ten times the annual price level rate increase - measured in ANY way.

It's about time that BIG EDUCATION 'profits' are examined in the same way those of the private sector are. The tax money alone that is wasted is enormous.

Government schools are already an American embarrassment when compared to those of any other industrialized country and don't even fare that well when compared to those of the Turd World.

And universities, some charging tuition of 40k to 50k per annum, are little more than pervert playgrounds and leftist indoctrination centers, subject to liberal black listing and gate keeping.

Some of the best schools in this country now are private institutions that REFUSE to take any federal money and thus subject themselves to federal bureaucratic CONTROL.

DEBUNK and EXPOSE the mindless degeneracy and obscene waste of BIG EDUCATION!

No praise here--
As a lifelong conservative Republican I voted for 41 but wrote in Hunter and Tancredo instead of peso george-43.
Reasons: Why didn't he close the ports and borders right after 9-11, why didn't he have the police round up and deport all illegals and jail their enablers at the same time, why are the two fine border agents still in prison, why is the NAU and SPP still on the table???
BTW, he didn't keep us safe in the middle east, our excellent, brave military did!!!!

Ken92
I think you should go out and walk around the block. You are obviously very exercised over this. It is unhealthy to become so upset at someone you don't even know who hasn't even said anything that bad.

I have a few questions for you. How is Bush a war criminal? Was Saddam Hussein supposed to behave according to a cease fire? Was he, in fact, following all of the cease fire agreements? If he was not, should he be able to get away with it? We already know the UN is one of the most corrupt organizations ever, and that some countries who were supposed to be keeping Saddam in line were not doing their job. Saddam needed to be removed from power, and I am glad we did it.

Please explain exactly how Bush instigated a world financial crisis. I am interested in knowing how he had that kind of single-handed power.

Are you also saying (your two wars comment) that Afghanistan should have been allowed to harbor Osama bin Laden? Are you saying that we should have done nothing, but track down the terrorists and bring them to justice (that really worked for Clinton--NOT).

How exactly did he allow New Orleans to drown? Did he cause the hurricane? Did he force the weather people and government leaders to keep it a secret that a devastating hurricane was on its way, so the people could not get out? OR did local and state governments not do their jobs in regard to hurricane preparedness? Notice how when they had a Republican governor things went much better?

I guarantee you that Bush is not going to be hanged nor will he be tried at the Hague. Do you think for one minute if Bush had not acted decisively that we would not have been hit again in the past seven years? I guarantee we would have been. You can sit there comfortable and complacent because that mad did keep you safe.

We will see how your savior does. It will be interesting.

Just another lying liberal ashamed to admit it.

Sam etal, Unless your'e the MSM
your first amdt rights have been long gone for quite some time. Just try and speak out agains't the osama obama. As for the second amdt I still have those rights and they actually grew larger thru the GB administration, him being from Texas and American he understands what being free means. If however you voted for the big O you have forfeited your rights as sure as I breath. Now it is the big O's intent to take my second amdt rights from me and everyone else. I dont follow your logic.

Go ahead on
Reba, tell em like it is.

As Davy Crockett Said
I have written to President Bush and advised him to say what Davy Crockett said as he headed away from Washington:

*I am going to Texas. Yall can go to Hell.*

History kind to GWB???.. think again.
History may show that GWB Administration did not allow another terror attack on US soil. I give him props and credit for that...

But history WILL also show that the 9/11 attack did happen on GWB's watch. History will also show that this financial mess happened on Bush's watch as well. Those are the facts.

His leadership on the recent financial crisis plus leadership during Hurricane Katrina will be text book fodder for "what not to do" for future presidents in a crisis situation. It will be discussed every time there is a similar crisis of sorts in the US.

Too bad for George, as likeable as he may be in person. History will not be as likeable toward him.

Amen
We should all remain indebted to Bush for keeping this country safe, because if Gore or Kerry had been President during this time of war, we may not have been. He also did all that he could to help the people of Africa and Asia, proving again that America is not interested in imperialistic domination, but rather, friendly cooperation.

So I say to you President Bush, Thank You and God Bless!

Teflon Don
History may be unkind to Bush for the financial issues you mention, however Bush should NEVER have gotten the wrap for Katrina.

That belongs to New Orleans mayor and Louisiana's governor - both liberal Democrats who completely failed at the switch.

Unfortunately, the liberal MSM echo-chamber was highly successful at placing the blame on the federal government (the last to act constitutionally).

A comparison to Mississippi is all one needs to look at to see this.

R E - I will speak out against Obama
He is controlled by the same federal reserve bank that issues the credit to these and all the politicians.

The problem is not George W. Bush or Obama, it is the issuers of credit who control these candidates through our "DEBT" based currency. But you will see first hand. Enjoy the deflation now, because new issuance of credit created by the criminal Federal Reserve will go to Obama's youth spy brigade, global carbon credits, global carbon taxes, global carbon emissions.

Obama might be the messiah that moves the United States into a global currency by finishing Bush's end game of bankrupting the country.

The solution:
Will be to peg our currency either into an Amero or a digital global currency.

But I will speak out against the Federal Reserve who issues the credit to bankrupt 1st world countries and turns them into 3rd world countries.

Ryan01 from GA
Ah the 4th Amendment;

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, papers, and personal effects... No warrant shall be issued unless based upon "probable cause". Not an exact quote but close enough for my memory.

Actually the Patriot Act did not grant new powers to the Federal Government.

Law Enforcment still needs a probable cause before getting a warrant. No change here as a result of the Patriout Act.

Police, (in this case, the feds) are still required to get a warrant before depriving someone of life, libertry

Emergency Circumstances. Law Enforcement has always had the right to conduct warrantless searches and seizures without a warrant under emergency circumstances. Again no change here as a result of the Patriot Act.

So A lot of people have been told a lot of crap about the Patriot Act but those of us who are actually educated on the subject really see no cause for alarm since there really isn't any change.

This is probably why we don't see a lot of people running into Federal Court claiming their rights were violated as a result of the Patriot Act.

The Patriot Act has been in effect for several years now. Its been renewed once and will be renewed the next time it comes up. It has already stood the test of time as being valid Law Enforcement tool that does not violate the 4th Amendment.

Those are the facts you won't hear from Watching CNN or MSNBC or Fox News for that matter.

"Those are the facts you won't hear from Watching CNN or MSNBC or Fox News for that matter."

You're right on that account, just like we didn't get the truth during the run up to the war. That is why I prefer to get my information on subjects like this from Bruce Fein, etc., instead of corporate media propaganda outlets.

Debbie From NC

Debbie I agree.

Any close examination of the Bush Presidency which Historians will do will reveal that Bill Clinton and Janet Reno are more to blame with 9-11 Attack then Bush. They will also note that Bush had less time to prepare for the Presidency then any other President in history due to the Florida recall and court actions.

Close examination will also reveal that the economy took a big hit as a result of 9-11 but Bush leadership kept the economy still growing.

Katrina won't even be an issue since the Mayor and Governor of New Orleans failed to plan, failed to evacute, and failed to request any help from the Federal Government until long after Katrina had passed.

The Current economic crisis can be traced directly back to high energy costs which was the result of Democrats failure to address energy issues for 30 years. Also Sen. Chris Dodd, and Rep. Barney Frank were the cause of the housing bubble and crash.

Historians will be able to report the failures of Congress as they did when the GOP congress failed to pass the League of Nations proposal for Woodrow Wilson.

Historically, Democrats and Liberals will not do well on the record.

Ken92
Why must you stoop to calling people names? I do not understand that. You do nothing for the liberal cause when you engage in hyperbole and name-calling.

Also, Ken92, who is it (according to the Constitution) that declares war? Oh that would be Congress. Who is it that funds war? Hmmmm, same group. Are all of the men and women who voted for war going with him to the Hague?

You are going to be sorely disappointed when Mr. Bush leaves the presidency and goes off to a nice retirement. He has risen above the hatred and pettiness for eight years, and he will continue to do so. Those of you on the left who have displayed a rabid hatred of the man will not get the pound of flesh you desperately want, so get used to it.

We on the right will watch Obama like a hawk, and we plan to "told ya so," every chance we get (I have a feeling it will be often). IF Obama actually does lead from the center, and he does a great job, I will be thrilled, and I will not be a bit upset (although I have a feeling the left wingers will be wailing and moaning and ripping their clothes in rage).

I thank God that GWB was the president on 9/11/01. I have a feeling we would have lived through many, many dark days had he not been.

Excellent
Excellent analysis here. The personalization of policy and Bush's inability to shift, not to polls, but changing dynamics and new information on the ground led to the complete mismanagement in Iraq. There's a distinction between decisiveness and being foolishly stubborn; leaders practice the former.

Proof of your numbers Ken
Ken where are you getting your numbers from. You claim one million dead Iraqi's, and I assume you are blaming Bush and the American miltary for these deaths. Do you have any substantial evidence to prove this number?
You are right in the number of dead Iraqi's though, those that Sadam killed, including all of the terrorist bombs and Muslims killing Muslims. But remember we went in and took the bad guy out, we are not the bad guys Ken.
In fact had it not been for people like yourself who hate the military and the country that they are fighting for, maube the lose of American lives could have been less.
God Bless those that have made the ultimate sacrifice with their life, and those that have been injured in the line of duty, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

HAL - ONE QUESTION
If a terrorist was holding someone you loved very much and threating to cut their head off, but you did not know where your loved one was being held in order to rescue them, what would you be wiling to do to get information to get them back. Would water boarding be an option to you?

ken
Isn’t a candidate supposed to be ready to be president when he announces his/hers candidacy? Bush didn’t sit on his hands while the recount was going on. Both men worked on plans for staffing their administrations. Only 2 months instead of three? A historical footnote at best.
Democrats don’t blame Bush for 911. They blame Osama bin Laden. Why do republicans blame Reno and Clinton? There were years of intelligence failures. In both administrations. Wouldn’t students, of mid-eastern origin, asking only how to take off in a plane raise some questions?
No fact revising on Katrina. Huge failures on both state and federal levels.
High energy costs? Maybe history will reveal who, besides Cheney (http://www.mindfully.org/Reform/2008/Cheney-Official-Records21sep08.htm ), Lay (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2002/01/30/MN46204.DTL , http://oversight.house.gov/documents/20040830150832-54097. pdf ), Enron (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/01/08/politics/main323646.shtml ), and other unnamed lobbyists helped develop our “energy policy”. If Cheney has his way, that history will be lost.
The republicans controlled congress from Jan 95 to Jan 2007. From Jan 07 to Jan 09, the republicans had the presidency and the controlling democratic party (actually, in the senate, it was 49 to 49 with 2 independents. Look how much a democrat Joe Lieberman is) didn’t have the votes to over-ride any vetoes. Of the last 40 years, republicans have had the presidency 28 of those years. I don’t expect Bush to be treated the same way Truman or Roosevelt were by historians.

If the number of innocents killed bothers you and a lack of Al Qaeda presence doesn’t, why didn’t you support us going into Chad? No oil there?
You assert that because we oppose a pointless war, we hate our country and the troops that defend it. You also assert that we have somehow added to the number of troops that have been killed because we stand up against a war that is intended to one up daddy.

Were you there or are you like so many other Bush haters pure cowards, who can't or haven't a clue concerning battle field tactics not really understand what HUMINT stands for.

Also Shelly you are apparently ignorant of history as during WWII, there were hundreds of German and Italian POWs held in Camps right here in America. The only crimes most of them were guilty of was being soldiers in defense of their countries, and they were unfortunate enough to be captured, or surrendered in the heat of battle. I ask you genius , what should the US have done with them after they were captured, turned them loose so they could go back to killing our toops again? They were returned home after the war was over.

So, who's delusional Shelly baby?

Experts acknowledge that information received from a tortured subject is aimed at stopping the torture. They will say exactly what you want to hear. The POWs from WWII kept in the US were not tortured or kept isolated. They worked in what almost amounted to work release while they were here. Many asked to remain after the war.
As you will recall, Bush used family influence to enter the Nat. Guard during the war, jumping over many ahead of him in line. After spending a huge amount of money on his flight training, he lost flight status because he failed his annual flight qualification. There is no one who remembers him showing up for drill after transferring from Texas to Alabama.

End the Fed Rallies

From the JBS: There will be a National Rally demanding that Congress 'End the Federal Reserve Bank' and restore sound money, Saturday, November 22, 2008, from 10:00 a.m. through 1:00 p.m., in front of each and every Federal Reserve Bank branch in our nation--all thirty-eight of them. In Texas there are four that make up the Dallas district: Dallas, El Paso, Houston, and San Antonio.

Congressman Ron Paul will be the headliner for the rally in Houston. Each rally will have a number of speakers. An informal coalition of groups are putting together this rally for 'real change.'

Houston area chapters and members should support the Houston rally. That rally will be in the Buffalo Bayou Park across from the 'Fed' branch on Allen Parkway. "Historians will be able to report the failures of Congress as they did when the GOP congress failed to pass the League of Nations proposal for Woodrow Wilson."

Yeah, and years later we got stuck with the UN instead. Everyone knows what a success the UN is. I'd take those Republicans over the ones we have today in a heartbeat. Those men were patriots of the highest order unlike the prostitutes and globalists who make up most of the GOP in congress we have now. They understood what "America First" meant.

I'm going to write a note to our president. I will thank him for keeping his pledge to honor the White House and the Oval Office. Unlike his predecessor, now among his friends, Bush did right by the staff. He did right by the Light that guided him, the Light of Christ. Maybe we should have gone to Iraq; maybe we shouldn't have. Time will tell. (By the way, I doubt Al-Qaida thinks in terms of four and eight years, like we do.)

SAM: MORE FED STUFF

By Mark Pittman, Bob Ivry and Alison Fitzgerald

Nov. 10 (Bloomberg) -- The Federal Reserve is refusing to identify the recipients of almost $2 trillion of emergency loans from American taxpayers or the troubled assets the central bank is accepting as collateral.

Fed Chairman Ben S. Bernanke and Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson said in September they would comply with congressional demands for transparency in a $700 billion bailout of the banking system. Two months later, as the Fed lends far more than that in separate rescue programs that didn't require approval by Congress, Americans have no idea where their money is going or what securities the banks are pledging in return.

``The collateral is not being adequately disclosed, and that's a big problem,'' said Dan Fuss, vice chairman of Boston- based Loomis Sayles & Co., where he co-manages $17 billion in bonds. ``In a liquid market, this wouldn't matter, but we're not. The market is very nervous and very thin.''

Bloomberg News has requested details of the Fed lending under the U.S. Freedom of Information Act and filed a federal lawsuit Nov. 7 seeking to force disclosure.

The Fed made the loans under terms of 11 programs, eight of them created in the past 15 months, in the midst of the biggest financial crisis since the Great Depression."

Good and Fair Article,
This is a hard cruel world. As number of poster even this this article bare witness.

Any man can't help but be flustered by the hardness of it all. For any man to endure it says something.

"So A lot of people have been told a lot of crap about the Patriot Act but those of us who are actually educated on the subject really see no cause for alarm since there really isn't any change."

Really? Then why was it needed, Ken?

Educated, huh? Uh no... clearly you are not. Not on the patriot act, not on the consitution, and definitely not on the principles of conservatism.

You aren't fooling anyone.

Tim from Texas

Ready on Day one? That is not written in the Constitution. Hillary is the only one I know who has made that claim.

After the election of 2000. Bill Clinton's adm. did not begin briefings of Bush Administration appointments until after the final outcome in the courts. Thus he had less time to prepare than any president in history.

As you see now, Obama is already getting briefings thanks to an executive order imposed by George Bush. Bush is once again putting the nation ahead of political parties.

The reason conservatives can safely blame Bill Clinton for 9-11 is because 9-11 was planned by Osama Bin Laden. Bill Clinton had 3 chances to neutralize Osama Bin Laden and refused to do so.

In one case Janet Reno thinking like a lawyer and not a national security expert advised the President that we had no legal grounds to hold Bin Laden. This after Al Quaeda formally declared war on the United States.

Bush was the first one to recognize this is a war and to treat the terrorist as enemy combantants and not criminals entitled to all the legal protections of a person accused with a crime.

Katrina - No need to revise. As anyone with any knowledge of the U.S. Constittuion understands, the President can not send U.S. troops into a state unless requested by the Governor of that State or unless an emergency has been declared.

The Democratic Governor of LA did not declare an emergency, did not request federal assistance until two days after Katrina had hit the city. Fema's policy has been and still is to tell local jurisdictions that it may take up to 3 to 5 days for the Federal government to bring all of its resources to the scene of an emergency. States and Locals are on notice that they need to plan and provide assistance until the Federal Government can respond. Katrina was a failure of the Democratic Governor and the Democratic Mayor of New Orleans. Not the Federal government.

Vindex from Mi
Well since you believe I am un-educated on the subject, I will leave you in the dark as to why exactly it was needed.

But I know something you don't know. Nah! Nah! Nah!

ken
All wrong Ken. You pretend you are a lawyer. The feds knew the size of Katrina. You are saying we should let New Orleans drown because their people are slow on the trigger but Clinton is responsible because his people were slow. Good logic. And a month really changes a person’s presidency?
I like your original post. We will see how history judges these actions. Be ready for a letdown.

Tim from Texas
No I don't pretend to be a lawyer. I contend that I am educated on the subject. Why? Because I actually logged onto Fema's website and read their response policy. Something Liberal media no doubt did but choose to ignore because it did not fit their Liberal agenda. Fema suggests citizens have enough supplies, food, water, medicines to last up to 7 days.

The fact is the Democratic and Liberal Mayor and Governor in New Orleans were not prepared. They failed to notify Fema of their situation, they failed to declare a state of emergency and faled to request assistance. Fema did contact the Governor and attempted to ascertain if assistance was needed and the Governor's office told them they had lost communications with New Orleans and no desicsion or request for assistance was made. That is the historical record. What the Liberal media reported was entirely different because it did not fit their agenda.

I will not be let down. Most historians agree we don't get an objective assessment of a presidency until after that Presidents generation are long gone. We are just now learning things about F.D.R. that paint him in an unfavorable light. Why? because Liberal historians like Delores Goodman evauluate Presidents based upon her values and not the facts. She sees F.D.R. as a great compassionate communicator who programs helped people. The historical record says the programs were ineffective and unemployment continued in double digets until the start of WW2. That F.D.R. was aware the programs were not working but was unwilling to change direction because the programs were popular. The programs were popular because F.D.R. did a great job promoting his ineffective programs. Again that is the historical record. People who knew and worked with F.D.R. said he was distant and aloof. That he was more concerned about his popularity than effective programs that actually helped people.

Hey dou*he bag
Here is the Brookings Institute timeline of response. Katrina made landfall on the 29th. A request for federal assistance was made on the 28th.

Sun 28-Aug Early DHS Secretary Chertoff and FEMA Director Brown given electronic briefings by Hurricane Center on
possibility of levee break.
7:00 AM Katrina becomes Cat 5 storm with 160 mph winds.
8:00 AM Superdome opens. Allows people in.
9:30 AM Nagin announces that Regional Transit Authority (RTA) buses will pick up people in 12 locations
throughout the city to take them to places of refuge, including the Superdome. The New Orleans
Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan calls for buses to evacuate citizens out of the city (this
component not in effect).
11:00 AM Nagin orders mandatory evacuation of New Orleans. Ten shelters set up for those unable to leave (Nagin
referred to them as "refuges of last resort" rather than shelters). Evacuation orders posted all along coast.
President Bush suggests mandatory evacuation after decision was already made but before it was reported to
the public.
11:30 AM President Bush delivers statement vowing to help those affected.
Noon Highways packed. City activates contraflow traffic system so some highways become one-way only.
~ Gov. Blanco requests disaster relief funds (some evidence this request was on 8-27)
~ Alabama Gov. Bob Riley declares a State of Emergency.
~ FEMA sends water, food and supplies to Georgia and Texas in preparation.
~ President Bush declares State of Emergency in Mississippi, Florida, and Alabama.

Well said.............I think.
The idea that there is an ongoing conspiracy to trash Bush is a joke. He is nothing more or less than as portrayed. The focus of the media is always on the president. They don't cut out the good. They add punctuation to their stories.

ken
Please accept my apologies for calling you a dou*he bag. Name calling does nothing to advance dialog of any type.

Tim From Texas
Thanks for confirming what I said.

ken
What confirmation? You need to reread the timeline. It clearly shows who dropped the ball. The request came before landfall.

Tim From Texas

Oh I thought you had actually done some research and educated yourself.

Request for what? How can anyone request anything before the actual disaster? What did they request? Food? Drugs, Water? Sand for levis? What damage occurred before the Hurricane hit land?

What you did show is no action by state and local authorities until hours before the Hurrican hit land. In case you don't know, the Coast Guard and National Guard will not fly rescue helocopters into a Hurricanes. You can't even fly stuff in several hours before or after because wind conditions are too dangerous.

Go back and do more research and you eventually find out what the Governors of Alabama, Texas, and Missippi did better than the Liberal Democratic Governor of LA

Ranger29
Actually the american people want change.

Change to what they really don't know, but they want change.

What is unfortunate for Liberals is the more briefings Obama has attended, the more his position is more like George Bush.

America is suffering
America is suffering unlawful deception from the Alinsky group.
Group u$urp$ power on January 20th—the constitution violated.
The United States Supreme Court alone can relieve this outrage.
