The Al Gore caucus?

Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

In a campaign year full of Lazarus moments, one rebirth that American voters will not see is the second coming of Al Gore. Not as the reluctant candidate on a white horse, saving the day at the Democrats' convention in August. Probably not as a peace-maker between the two candidates beforehand, despite his Nobel Peace Prize.

Some Democrats, mostly the strategy and the establishment classes, are getting nervous about the length and breadth of this primary season.

Fair enough: It is ugly out there on the campaign trail. Yet, right now, this contest is in the hands of voters.

Voters, not superdelegates or back-room deals, have kept Hillary Clinton in the game. Going into Texas and Ohio, everyone was told before they cast their votes that Clinton was done. Now in Pennsylvania, pundits are uttering the same lines -- no conceivable way she wins; her unwillingness to leave is an act of desperation -- yet she leads comfortably in the Keystone State.

Clinton can still argue that she has a legitimate reason to stay in the race: voters.

Barack Obama can argue that he should be the only one standing because he holds the trump card: delegates.

This is the moment when a party elder is supposed to step in and bring sanity to the struggle. In any other year, that would be Bill Clinton, but we all know why that won't work. Jimmy Carter has never embraced that type of role. So what about Al?

His former campaign manager, Donna Brazile, says not now, too "premature for him to inject himself into the presidential fray."

And she is probably right. That, plus the rumored bad blood between Gore and the Clintons, could easily have the Clintons calling "Foul!" if he decided to exercise his peace-prize-winning skills.

Another scenario to consider is an Al Gore caucus. It is brilliant, really: Lock Gore and the nearly 800 superdelegates in some "green" fire hall with a Ryder truck full of pizza and soda, and don't let them out till the deed is done. Problem solved.

Caucuses are a beautiful thing, full of horse-trading, bossy precinct captains, and lots of animated opinions. This exercise in democracy just might make the Democratic Party a more perfect union, when all was said and done.

Despite the fight between Obama and Clinton, Democrats are in a strong position to take the White House. What they cannot afford is months and months of charge and countercharge while John McCain becomes the statesman and looks presidential.

If that continues, they will have a very truncated general election -- and that would be a disaster for Democrats.

It is hard to know if Gore would help caucus this contest if the need arrives; right now, he is into being a citizen of the world, not a party politician.

If he were a real party politician, Gore of all people would be an advocate for counting Florida's votes and seating its delegates -- Michigan's, too, but most especially Florida's.

After all, who can forget what happened with him in the Sunshine State?

Al Gore in Florida
"After all, who can forget what happened with him in the Sunshine State?"

Apparently, almost everybody.

Al Gore LOST in Florida, and tried unsuccessfully to steal the election through the Florida Supreme Court.

A consortium of newspapers all went into the actual ballots in the months following the election and found, to do their own recounts, and found - to their surprise... that Gore really did lose. (Maybe you missed all those front-page and leading stories in the New York Times and on CNN, MSNBC, etc).

Nevertheless the "stolen election in Florida" is established fact to liberals and a great proportion of the general populace as well.

Historians, eventually, will set the record straight, one hopes.

It's time to give Gore a rest
If Gore still had friends and I'm sure he has plenty. They should be the first to jump in and say no way Jose. Let Gore play with his global warming blocks and leave him along. There might not be a next time for Gore, if he got back into the political arena. Who knew the state of mind Gore was in during the 2000 elections. Gore, losing the election turned out being the best thing for him. Gore was not a well man then. The Presidency shouldn't of been looked upon as a cure for the mental state of mind Gore was in. If just losing an election put Gore over the top. No telling what effects the domestic and foreign affairs would have had on Gore. Gores time has come and gone, just like the Clintons. It's best to let Gore play with his global warming blocks and leave the poor man alone.

A step down for Savior of the world.
Murph is right on the Florida recount.

Under almost all scenarios, Gore still lost.

Florida Supremes did politicize this thing, as did the U.S. Supremes.

But the U.S. Supremes were just undoing the partisan decision of the Florida court.

Good god....Gore 'agin?????
Algore is NOT a poor man. Just look at all the carbon credit holding firms he has invested in. And the last thing he needs is a microscope put on his activities in the last couple of years. He will not come out of it looking pretty.

Of course, that is really all the Dems need right now. Put Gore into the mix and the spectacle would rival the Three Stooges....

Murph and other liars
Interestingly, the Headlines did say that Bush sort of won, but the text of the articles, said the opposite.

20,000 legal voters cut from the voting lists by DBT.
22,000 votes not counted.

This is what the director of the Florida elections board had to say about their contract with the company known as DBT (Database technologies):

CLAYTON ROBERTS:
Florida Director of Elections
No, I didn't ask DBT. They do what we contract them to do. We have a statute that says we have to have a private company to do this. We put it out for bid, we put it out for bid, and I think I'm done with this interview.

They were in fact given a contract for $4 million to eliminate democrats (including 8,000 whose names came from Texas) from the Florida which was 95% wrong.

Absetee ballots from democratic areas not counted, but "absentee ballots" from overseas military lacking any proper signatures were counted.

Kathleen Harris was a busy woman. In charge of Florida's vote count and co-chair of Bush's presidential campaign.

And yet the Supreme court (just ask Scalia about the
"this is not a precedent" supreme decision and he'll get very mad) on the basis of 535 votes, declares Bush the winner

No other country in the world outside of Africa would have stood for such as sham. Welcome to Africa.

ding bat gore
Gore didn't want the military votes counted. And they are always yelling about every vote counts.
He lost. He can keep on lying about global warming if the ice age doesn't come first. Of course he's pushing global warming. He's making big bucks off it since the loonies believe him.
Looks like a lizard.

Chamber of Horrors!
I was surprised by the caption in the accompanying photograph. I expected it to say "Thierry Lombard unveils wax figure of Algore at Mme. Tussauds' famous 'Chamber of Horrors'."

"There can be only one!"
This election totally belongs to Hillary, and everybody knew this going in. She has the temperament and the life-experience to be a proper president from day one. Only she can save us from the years of folly that are the Bush II presidency. The other candidates were supposed to be nothing more than window dressing jockeying to become vice-president at best. Then some under-experienced young poseur comes along, makes his audiences swoon and faint, and challenges her? It's just so wrong on so many levels! The Michigan and Florida delegations must be seated -- in their full strength: to do anything less would be to insult the memory of all those Democrat voters who were kept from the polls in 2000 by Katherine Harris's police dogs and fire hoses. And that would be completely unacceptable!

Unless...

This election totally belongs to Obama, and everybody has come to realize this. He has the temperament and life-experience to be a proper president from day one. Only he can save us from the years of folly that are the Bush II presidency. The other candidates have stayed in much too long after the people's clear and indisputable will has been heard. The corruption and the lies that comprise his primary opponent must not be allowed to triumph: her "selection" by a corrupt deal among super-delegates would be just so wrong on so many levels. Michigan and Florida broke the rules, and following the rules is a lesson we all learned in elementary school. To award the nomination to Mrs. Clinton would be to insult the memory of all the people who have been murdered by the Reagan-Bush-Bush political machine's creation of HIV and crack. And that would be completely unacceptable!

OK, now recite and repeat as necessary paragraph one among the Clintonistas and paragraph two among the Obama-nation until their blood gets up, then hand them both as many sharp instruments as they desire. Put them both in an arena in Denver, cover, and turn heat to boiling.

Enjoy.

Meanwhile, in Texas...
The people's clear and indisputable will heard by day in the election is being thwarted after dark by the activists' glaring and obvious "will to power". Hillary clearly won the primary, but then the Obama-nation swamped the caucuses, rendering the party unable to count the votes in hundreds of precincts, and are thereby stealing Mrs. Clinton's hard-won delegates. That coupled with the Obama-nation's prohibition of entire delegations from other states in Hillary's column is making a complete sham of the name of the party.

Every time you hear someone touting Obama's lead in pledged delegates, remind them how artificial that is so long as they allow the theft of Texas and they refuse to seat the full delegations from Michigan and much put-upon Florida.

Boil, stir, and cover. Then stand back.

Gore, the Moderate
How strange is it that Al Gore actually appears moderate compared to Obama and Hillary? If the Democrat Party has any brains at all, they would nominate Gore, who has a much better chance to beat McCain. Gore, after all, won the popular vote in 2000. All he needed was one more state to have won the election. With the war and the unpopularity of the Republican Party, I believe Gore can win fairly easily. But, don't expect common sense to suddenly grab the Dim Party. They will stick with Obama and lose big in November.

More Damage to DNC
Great, bring Gore in! Make damn sure McCain is elected! The democrat party is stuck on this loser America obviously doesn't want.

Global warming is a hoax that lots of Americans are waking up to. Global warming is designed to empower and enrich the lives of those promoting it. How much water does it take to raise a crop for biofuels? How many people are going hungry because America is using crops for fuel? Oil is the cleanest, most efficient, most abundant fuel source. Using gasoline won't cause poor people around the world to go hungry (or eventually starve to death). Food riots are already happening! God gave us fuel; it's called oil. America has all the oil it needs, right here on American soil. These nuts won't let us use it, so we have to import it, paying all the costs associated with getting it here. These people are nuts and don't have the sense they need to lead us into a prosperous future.

The change they are talking about is the change in our pockets!

Global Warming
THEY PLAYED ON OUR FEARS!!!!!!

Brickhouse
Actually we were halfway done with our reserves back in the seventies. The truth is that we are bluffing the world by acting as if we have more oil then is actually here. We do this in order to keep oil prices down internationally. If they think we are desperate for oil, they will raise there prices.

Gore?Gag Me With A Spoon !
Al Gore,in my opinion, would not get near as many votes today as he did in 2000.He would have won then,if he had carried his OWN state of TN..
Florida would have been moot!

He could carry no red state today I don't believe. He has joined the elites who have fallen for 'manmade global warming'and sensible folks have had enough of him.He is a fat fraud.

AL GORE
I AM 70 YEARS OLD , AND HAVE SEEN A LOT OF WATER
RUN UNDER THE BRIDGE , AND IN ALL MY YEARS ON
TERRA FIRMA , I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYONE THAT
COULD COMPETE WITH AL GORE TO BE
"A POOR EXCUSE FOR A HUMAN BEING " .
AS THEY SAY ,ALL ACROSS THE FRUITED PLAIN ,
" HE TAKES THE CAKE " .

Was that Gore or a wax figure?
The picture in the article looks like a wax figure. Does anyone know how to tell the difference between a wax figure and Al Gore? Neither do I!

Charles Martel
You da MANNN!!!

Have you been channeling Loyal Democrat?

Gore Tried To Steal Florida
He tried to disallow the overseas military vote in Florida.

As real science is being shed on the fiction of man made global warming. the Goreicle is looking more like a raving lunatic than a statesman.

Having said that, he and Obama would be a perfect fit. LOL

GORE SHMORE
Gore it pleased to rake in the $millions right now. Perhaps his ego will grow further to want to be president, but I just don't see it right now. It would be a spectacle though!

I've got to hand it to him. He's taken the global warming thing and parlayed it into fortune and fame. I can't believe the luck. But hey, I'd rather him do that now because in my opinion, he would've been a disaster (even worse than Bush in his second term) as president.

I'm amused at his message yet he lives in a mansion burning through probably 10 time the energy my family does in our modest home even with his special light bulbs and thermal panels on his roof, yet jet sets all over ...of course he DOES purchase energy offsets...WHAT THE....??

Whatever.

Gore had his chance
but his own ego and sense of entitlement blew it for him.

All he had to do was make a gracious concession speech in the early morning of the day after the election.

Then, four years later, given the all-out media assualt on Bush during re-election, I think Gore would have coasted to victory.

Instead, as others have noted, he tried to steal the election and became a goofball outcast -- although still beloved by hollywood and nobel prize officers, of course, who gave him "consolation" prizes.

> After all, who can forget what happened with him in the Sunshine State? <

In keeping with the start of the baseball seaons:
He was thrown out trying to steal.

thank you, Uncle Max
"...channeling Loyal Democrat"?

High praise indeed!

Cons are lying crooks. As proven by Nixon.

Yes, Gore might have tried to not have counted overseas absentee ballots that had no signatures. Because, to prevent Fraud, absentee ballots have to have signatures.

But then why didn't Kathleen Harris, head of the Bush campaign committee in Florida not count legal absentee ballots with signatures from Florida voters?

You cons are either so stupid, or you think we are. You think that because Fox/Pravda can broadcast LIES that we are going to believe them.

You are setting this country up for a very bad result if you allow lies to be told and retold by government controlled sources.

If you don't think Fox/Pravda is government controlled you better recheck the definition of Fascism credited to Benito Moussalini - it is the unified government of big business and state organization - exactly that which the Bush administration has been trying to install (all the way back to Prescott Bush when several of his businesses were CLOSED DOWN for illegally cooperating with the Nazi's.)

If you don't think these cons are trying to do this, read Pres. Eisenhower's letter to his brother from the archives: Document #1147. He reports that Texas oil millionaires are trying to change our form of government. And that is treason.

trughes
"Cons are lying crooks. As proven by Nixon."

Nixon was no conservative. Liberals have more than their share of crooks, too: Bill and Hillary, Ted Kennedy, Pat Leahy, Joe Biden, Al Gore -- need I go on?

"You cons are either so stupid, or you think we are."

Yes, I do think liberals are stupid, and your posts only strengthens my argument.

Al Gore LOST. Bottle those sour grapes and sell them for wine.

Ken
Really good arguments. I guess you win.

I love it: Nixon not a con!!
I earlier heard that Eisenhower was no conservative. Now, Nixon is no conservative.

How 'bout Bush? Are you going to disavow him once Iraq becomes province of Iran, thanks to him (and thanks to all of you who ignored his lies.)

I guess Reagan is the last of the moheecans. The man that raised FICA payroll tax, the most regressive tax we have by 75%. Do you know how much money was represented by that Tax Increase directed at only the poor and the middle class? Multipy 6% times every single penny earned by every single person under about $80,000. That's were it cuts off.

I remember once in my life I got the 8% raise when I cleared the income cut-off. That was in 1987. Wow was that an eye-opener! I just got a huge raise - where did that come from? But your hero had already raised that tax on us little guys by a full 6% of every penny, after having cut the highest levels of the progressive income tax so the super-rich could really cash in.

That's what I call Conservative.

trughes
On what basis do you argue that Nixon was a conservative? True, he was in favor of a strong national defense, but so were most Democrats of the pre-McGovern era. On domestic issues, Nixon was quite liberal. As for President Bush, one would be hard-pressed to call him a fiscal conservative.

A liberal has no room to talk about tax hikes. Bill Clinton promised he would only raise taxes on the rich. After he was elected, he defined "the rich" as anyone making above $30,000 a year. He also raised taxes on Social Security earnings, and he never delivered on that middle-class tax cut he promised us.
