For Obama, a Week of Personal Growth?

Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

President Obama nominated Sonia Sotomayor for the Supreme Court and promptly left town. The preceding week hardly could go down as a high point for him or his administration - but maybe, in certain ways, as a period of personal growth. Time for a break.

Think about it. The week had featured these items on an incomplete list, most related one way or another to national security:

-- In a bizarre at-a-distance debate with former Vice President Dick Cheney, Obama came off second best - not even close - on Guantanamo (Gitmo) and the interrogation memos.

-- On interrogation, la belle Pelosi - a goofy-left Democrat, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, and third in line for the presidency - got caught needing a new perm. She accused the CIA of lying to her - and about her - regarding the simulated drowning ("waterboarding") of three jihad terrorists at Gitmo. And once more Howard Baker's question about Richard Nixon was spreading darkly around the land: What did she know and when did she know it?

-- Obama took multiple and contradictory positions regarding various aspects of the Gitmo matter, lopsidedly lost the support of both lopsidedly Democratic houses of Congress on funds to close the place. He adamantly refused to release the interrogation memos - as requested by Cheney - showing whether waterboarding (etc.) had elicited information saving perhaps hundreds of thousands of American lives.

-- North Korea once again dissed the civilized world by detonating a second nuclear device and testing missiles to deliver them. (Iran works resolutely 24/7 for the same capabilities.) Obama called on America's allies and the enervated, effete UN to "stand up" to North Korea, and pledged to "take action." One supposes the pledge will include - as Obama has insisted regarding Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad - "engagement" to convince Kim Jong-il of America's goodness and good intentions in this new day following the dread Bush-Cheney years.

-- Obama went to the National Archives to read key Founding documents in the original, and there orated on the need to live by their principles in connection with such things as Gitmo and the housing and interrogation of jihadists.

-- On a glorious day, in an atmosphere spilling over with those principles, Obama delivered the commencement address at the commissioning exercises for 1,036 Naval Academy graduates. He said, inter alia: "We uphold our fundamental principles and values not because we choose to but because we swear to, not because they feel good but because they help keep us safe."

-- Also at the Naval Academy, and later laying wreaths at the Tomb of the Unknowns on Memorial Day, Obama employed identical phrasings about those who gave their lives in battle, those newly commissioned as Navy and Marine officers, and all those in military service to the nation - aptly terming them "the best of America" representing the best of the American character.

The foregoing litany is as troubling as it is uplifting.

This president is a very good man who talks a very good game. He also is very liberal (by his votes, remember, the most liberal senator), and in many areas falls exceedingly short on follow-through. But as the midshipmen he commissioned grew as their minds were disciplined during their years in Crabtown, so this president may be growing in office. One has to hope.

Gitmo and the interrogation memos disclose a lot about Barack Obama. A peripheral academic, he entered office with airy theories and noble ideals - and the bottom-line leftie notion (first promulgated by the radical French political philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau) that all men are born good but corrupted by bad institutions.

Obama declared on just his second day in office he would close Gitmo. In subsequent months on the job he has been fast-tracked in reality - and realpolitik:

-- Not all men are necessarily born good. About 100 born-bad jihadist killers can be neither tried nor let go but must be held in preventive detention.

-- His own Democrats don't want these born-bads housed in their states, so they have voted lopsidedly to deny Obama the cash to close Gitmo.

-- Waterboarding did produce information that likely saved many American lives.

-- Although the Declaration and the Constitution contain the highest principles, Kim and Mahmoud disdain them. What's more, it's a bust to call upon the nation's military ("the best of America") and its newly commissioned officers to uphold such principles while releasing born-bads dedicated to eviscerating those in the military and the civilians they protect - thereby gaining eternal life with allah and 72 virgins.

***

Obama may be thinking....

Let's see. To acknowledge much of this would strike a lot of people as an admission that Bush and Cheney were right. Growth in office? Oh, never mind.

So definitely do not release the interrogation memos suggesting American lives were saved from waterboarding. That would be like saying American lives were saved in World War II by Truman's use of the atomic bomb.

Best to let things settle. And move people's minds to something different - like health care and, for the Supreme Court, an Hispanic woman from the Bronx.

And leave town.

"And leave town"
It would be nice if he didn't come back.

Uh hu:
Run like a thief in the night. Run from his incompetence. Run from his leftist idiocy.

This community organizer is in way over his head. My question now is whether that incompetence will embolden America's enemies enough for them to hit us again.

Has Anyone Ever Noticed

That every time this idiot does something stupid or criminal, or the $h!+ hits the fan like it is right now in Korea, he goes on one of his plane rides and hides out until the heat dies down?

Then when things seem to calm down a little bit, you can't turn on the TV with his standing in front of the cameras reading from his telebrains.

North Korea is making all kinds of threatening noises, and what does Obama do?

Ducks out of town in the dark of night.

The only time he keeps a low profile is when danger rears it's ugly head.

Best description of the clown yet
"http://forgottenprophets.blogspot.com/

"He's not used to being challenged. Because he has used his firstclass intellect to overawe second-raters, his wrong theories have never been corrected. He was a lawyer, but he wasn't a litigator. See? There was never anyone else in the room to argue him down. That's necessary, for bright guys with theories."

But hasn't he been all over the place condemning North Korea, and threatening international intervention? Oh yeah, right... that's Hilary. Could do without hearing "global community" every time she issues a statement, as I see nothing wrong with saying that America will support its Allies in the region. But wait... global community? Don't we have a Community Organizer-in-Chief? He should be front and center (actually, he should be, but because he is allegedly leader of the free world, not because he's allegedly the 'great uniter.'

It's sickening to see this game of 'Where's Waldo' every time something important happens. I'll bet word from the Press Corps will be that O is traveling abroad to rally others internationally to put the squeeze on Jong-il. But I picture him sitting at the 'big boy table,' asking, "what are we gonna do?" and waiting until there's some sort of consensus, then taking credit for whatever that decision may be. At least he's consistent--- still voting 'present.'

K-9, whaT O says is immaterial
What King Elect O does is all that matters.

O cannot stand opposition. He calls his own party members and tells them *I'm watching, you, bro* if they don't toe the line. What leadership.

O started an idiot personal attack on private citizens when he blathered about Rush Limbaugh, who went from 20,000,000 listeners to 25,000,000--a real bonus for O. Now, he has engaged Cheney, out of sheer stupidity, as Cheney's approval is jumping 10 pts. a week.

O *condemned* N. Korea in Eur. a month ago. Really worked. O offered his *extended hand* to Iran, that told him to drop dead. Effective there, too.

O has ordered Israel to build not more settlements. He thinks he's king of Israel, too.

O has ruined GM and Chrysler in order to save the UAW while savaging investors that include millions of teachers and their pensions, cops and their pension, firemen and the pensions. For which O is being rightfully sued. And they are all union voters, too.

O will have worse weeks, as all he has is his perpetual speeches (pollution of CO2), explanations and then re-explanations and endless interpretations, and NO experiencing governing or leading.

The worst one will be when some terrorist bomb goes off domestically. And then he won't have to worry about any more weeks. Or, when the courts force his birth certificate and school records into public view.

O is and was an empty suit.

Bork Sotomayer.

renny, great list!
I still have trouble believing my friends that still defend the fraud. Their BDS has ruined what little brain they may have once had.

We still haven't seen the "test" the Biden (in one of his very few lucid moments) predicted the will hit the One. My guess is that it will be either Iran attempting to nuke Isreal, Isreal pre-emptively nuking Iran, or N. Korea nuking S. Korea. How will he handle it?? Probably the same way he is handling it now, go hide and blame Bush!

renny
I second what Rich Not wealthy said in #7. My post was tongue-in-cheek. What O says means zero. And I think we all have a pretty good idea what action he will take... zero. But watch for him to take credit when (or if) someone actually does something. If Putin and Medvedev put the hammer down on N. Korea, I have no doubt O will say it was a cooperative effort.

She WILL be confirmed

Identity politics is the mother's milk of the left, and THEY are in control now, so Soto is a metaphysical certainty to be confirmed... and the left is having a sexual experience. Since she replaces a liberal, it is not yet really impactful in net effect.

Since she is a PC pick, it will be awkward to challenge her... and the numbers assure confirmation anyway. The left had savaged Robert Bork--arguably the most highly qualified EVER-- but the game is different on the other side. they feared Bork because he would not have tolerated "legislating from the bench," i.e., he believes in following the Constitution. It was patently absurd and rank liberal grandstanding that the left also put eminently qualified Judge Alito through hell, vacuously suggesting that he was a racist-- driving his wife to tears.

The ObaMessiah/the Chosen One prefers "feelings" and interpreting the law "as it OUGHT to be" according to a liberal agenda (in other words, make it up as you please) rather than a real commitment to following the Constitution and precedent, what they call in the law, "Stare Decisis"--

http://www.cnsnews.com/public/content/article.aspx?RsrcID=4 7838
http://www.lectlaw.com/def2/s065.htm

It was inevitable that the ObaMessiah would force leftist judges on America... we must hope that the public will sober up in 4 years and make a change before any more damage can be done.

What many do not realize is that ALL federal bench (lifetime) appointments matter, because, as Sotomayor got caught saying on tape in an unguarded moment---> they "make policy" at the Court Of Appeals level... no sense letting that pesky Constitution (which requires that ONLY the elected Congress make the laws) get in the way of liberal courts doing what is "right."

and the MSM barely notes this
re:

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The unions OWN the ObaMessiah! It is STUNNING to dismiss secured creditors in favor of unsecured claimants-- like the UAW. The Chosen One is effectively subverting B/R law. Unions are killing the big 3, and they (teachers, public service workers, hospital service) have bankrupted Mexifornia-- which the REST OF US will have to bail out.

If you torpedo bond holders, then future investors will be dissuaded from buying corporate bonds of any remotely troubled company-- which might serve to ASSURE further trouble! One reason that Ford is not yet on the bring is that it took on new debt (such as bonds) awhile back.

Federal workers make TWICE what private workers earn; state and local make 40% more-- both unionized.

The Narcississy raised 2 Mil for Reid
recently when he went to Las Vegas. How strange that "Reed" (like the One blowing in the wind) has now flipped and is advising we the people that we can let the Chinese terrorists loose in the US because "they aren't guilty of anything"!!!!

The Chinese govt. will kill them if they are sent back. Because they are innocent of course. They are muslims trained to be terrorists in Al Qaeda camps. They have been living amongst the worst Islamic extremists at Gitmo---murdering maniacs all--- but not guilty of anything?!!!??? The hypocrisy is endless.

Call, write, blog, and protest this outrage. Obama's fetal position (see today's cartoons) is showing.

The Bible couldn't have said it better: The Gitmo closers and terrorist apologists "Strain at a gnat and swallow a camel."

What?
That would be like saying American lives were saved in World War II by Truman's use of the atomic bomb.

Has Obama weighed in on this? I know Jon Stewart recently did and had to issue a surprisingly contrite public apology on his show for averring that Truman is a war criminal because of that...

Anybody?

NEW AGE OF LIGHT?
Arianna Huffington wrote on Thanksgiving Day that "the Dark Age of Bush and Cheney was over and a New Age of Light is now dawning." Where then is this New Age of Light? Barack Obama is now in his 127th day as President and his first day, marred though it was by his bothched oath of office and Ted Kennedy's brain seizure, was still his best day-which may very well stay that way until he leaves office. As for the darkness of the world during the Bush/Cheney Era we see it advancing not retreating, growing stronger not weaker threatening the world with new terrors of war, destruction and death. I don't know what others think but I see more light in the Age of Bush and Cheney than I see today.

A week of personal growth

Maybe by the end of his ONE term in office, this usurper will have reached the leadership equivalent of puberty.

As for now, he's still runnin around in diapers.

Lives weren't saved
By dropping the bomb. Japan was ready to surrender, but Truman didn't want to go into it with conditions. Thus the bluster of the bomb, all to put an "un" before conditional with Japan's surrender.

Is that how it is today?

Justin, are you ignorant or stupid?
Ignorance can be fixed, but as a famous comedian said, "You can't fix stupid!"

Even after the bomb, we allowed their "Emporer" to remain. But the conditions prior to the bombs, were unacceptable as the losers. Please get a clue!

corrupt land deal's book
checking amazon, it seems corrupt's book occupies a sales rank nowhere north of 82,300.

Seems like he has a book already taking space on the dollar counter. I gues the paperback edition will soon be amongst those books selling 5 for a dollar.

And now flap ears the pretender is trying to bring the corrupt reid a chance to win re-election with this $2 million cash for his coffers.

But better someone reinsert a battery into reid's empty brain, perhaps this would show him a more animated about doing something other than trashing repubs.

And to quote the boy pretending to be president, "let's give it up for the next entertainer" Seems flap ears trip to leno makes him think that in addition to saving the world he can host the celebrity awards show

Obama
I just dont think a person who lies, dissembles, distorts, blames others, and on and on is a "very good person". Rather I see him as a ruthless, narcissistic power grabber who in the end enjoys "lording it" over others. We are in for a long and difficult journey until we can be rid of this foolish person.

Obama
He is not a president, but he plays one in real life.

Not much that this guy is not a self-proclaimed expert on.

Is he real or is this just a movie?

And the *Campaign* Goes On!!
This Fellow will delay ANY Difficult, Distasteful or Unpopular action as long as possible..Distraction, Bait and Switch, -"If You Can't Dazzle 'em with Brilliance, Baffle 'em with Bullsh1+!!
Sooner or Later The Rookie is gonna have come out of the *PRESENT* Mode and "smell the Roses"
