Poll
Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Actually, Hagee was a founder of Christians United for Israel and the first non-Jew named "humanitarian of the year" by the San Antonio B'Nai B'Rith. Donahue, his former adversary, called Hagee "the strongest Christian defender of Israel I have ever met." But McCain, who held his fire reacting to Hagee's anti-Catholic remarks, had no patience with less clear evidence of anti-Semitism.

Hagee tried to pre-empt McCain by withdrawing his endorsement, but the candidate beat him to the punch by disavowing him (along with another mega-church supporter, the Rev. Rod Parsley of Columbus, Ohio, because of harsh words about Islam). Hagee's telephone lines became clogged with calls from worshippers asking whether they should vote for McCain. Hagee replies he really does not know, but asserts to friends that McCain "threw me under the bus."

A prominent Christian ally of McCain's can understand reluctance to make a pilgrimage to Colorado Springs, with no assurance Dobson would endorse him or even restrain his criticism. But this evangelical sees the treatment of Hagee as a cold calculation to make sure McCain would not lose the Jeremiah Wright issue.

McCain strategists are encouraged by polling data that shows their candidate much more popular with rank-and-file conservatives than with their leaders (more than nine to one against Obama among self-identified conservative Republicans). The McCain strategy is to paint Obama in the White House as a daunting prospect. It maintains that while the Republican candidate is no day at the beach, his Democratic opponent would be a weekend in hell -- even if James Dobson and John Hagee do not agree.

The McLaughlin Associates nationwide poll in my last column indicating 49 percent for John McCain and 38 percent for Barack Obama referred only to white women. Among all women, it was Obama 45, McCain 43.

Wake up!
Obama had a communist mentor when he was in high school in Hawaii. He is being investigated for that. His friends (William Ayers and wife) are convicted communist terrorists. His minister, the "Reverend" Jeremiah Wright, is as anti-American as they come with his GDAmerica, KKKUSA,etc..Obama refuses to salute the flag. His African half-brother, uncle, etc. in Africa are political agitators. He was raised a Muslim and admitted when push came to shove he would side with the Muslims. All this, and you people sit around whining with your two-bit opinions about John Hagee, Rod Parsley, James Dodson, evangelicals and other matters that should be of little concern. Years ago my mother attended a series of lectures designed to educate people about the Communist Party and how they intended to take over the USA. I was a child, and when my mother said they planned to put people in key positions and when the time was right, they would take over. In my childish innocence I thought the military, utilities companies, and the police would hold these key people and one day we would wake up and find ourselves a communist nation; however, now that years have passed, I see it is happening. These people are subversively conducting their work in key positions: the Supreme Court (Kelo vs. Conn.) the news media (always slanted; facts withheld) our universities and high schools; Congress (socialistic legislation, RINOS) the ACLU with its unending string of burdensome lawsuits for taxpayers and anti-American activities. Why don't you put your time and energy to good use?
Research this man who could become our next president and spread the word about the danger this country is in. I'm signing off...

"evangelical problem"
I know how this lifelong Republican, conservative Christian will vote if McCain associates with another televangelist.
Jesus was kind toward sinners and harsh toward hypocrites, Mr. Novak. This so-called "evangelical problem" is ridiculous. The media makes up the news. The media has always looked the other way as evangelicals are bilked by their con artist leaders. These faithfuls have been exploited and lied to and stolen from long enough. They deserve to be respected, not patronized. McCain is looking very hypocritical to me. I was excited about him but have serious doubts now. He has lost his principles. He will do anything for a vote, just like the rest.
