Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Supporters of Sen. Barack Obama concede that Sen. Hillary Clinton's aggressiveness rescued him from a serious blunder in last Tuesday's presidential debate at Cleveland, when he hesitated at rejecting a lavish endorsement of him by black Muslim leader Louis Farrakhan.

Obama deplored Farrakhan's record of anti-Semitic comments but indicated he could not reject his backing -- a horrible gaffe for a rookie presidential candidate. But Clinton could not let it rest at that and burst in to say that she had rejected backing for her 2000 Senate candidacy in New York from the Independence Party, some of whose leaders had taken anti-Semitic positions. That gave Obama a chance to assert that, considering her example, he indeed would reject Farrakhan.

A footnote: Supporters feel Obama did err in repeatedly referring to Farrakhan with the honorific of "minister," instead of calling him Mr. Farrakhan or just plain Farrakhan.

HILLARY'S PLOY

Hillary Clinton's otherwise inexplicable complaint at the start of Tuesday's Cleveland debate about always being called on first by debate questioners was a planned use of "Saturday Night Live's" comedic treatment of news media favoritism for Barack Obama.

Clinton aides had been on the phone with many journalists to point up "Saturday Night Live's" satire depicting the solicitous media asking: "Sen. Obama, are you comfortable? Is there anything we can get for you?" Consequently, NBC questioners Brian Williams and Tim Russert were prepared for Clinton bringing up the skit, but never expected the way she did it.

A footnote: Clinton campaign complaints that the media have gone overboard for Obama are real, as witness campaign spokesman Phil Singer losing control in a recent Christian Science Monitor press breakfast.

A FLORIDA CONSPIRACY?

Close supporters of Mitt Romney have been injecting into the political rumor stream an unsubstantiated report that Sen. John McCain obtained the vital endorsement of Florida Gov. Charlie Crist by promising him the vice presidential nomination.

Spreading that rumor reflects the anger in the Romney camp over the late endorsements of McCain by Crist and Sen. Mel Martinez of Florida. Until then, the Romney insiders claim, their private polls showed a lead in the Jan. 29 Florida primary that in fact delivered a crushing victory for McCain.

A footnote: Karl Rove and other prominent Republicans are talking up a McCain-Romney harmony ticket despite personal dislike between the two presidential candidates. Romney also would have to overcome opposition to him going on the ticket by his closest advisers.

NEWT'S GAFFE

Newt Gingrich's efforts to restore his standing among Republican conservatives for a possible future presidential bid have suffered a self-inflicted setback because of the former House speaker's support for liberal Rep. Wayne Gilchrest's unsuccessful attempt to save his seat in Congress representing Maryland's Eastern Shore.

Gingrich came to the state capital of Annapolis to host a fund-raiser for Gilchrest. While they are at odds on Iraq and other issues, Gingrich praised Gilchrest's intellect, courage and especially his work to conserve the Chesapeake Bay.

Gilchrest was defeated in the Feb. 12 Republican primary by conservative State Sen. Andrew Harris, who was backed by former Gov. Bob Ehrlich and the conservative Club for Growth. Harris' backers are furious at Gingrich and vow to make him pay if he ever runs for president.

HASTERT'S SUCCESSOR

Despite recent favorable polls, Illinois Democratic leaders fear that former House Speaker Dennis Hastert's district is too Republican for a Democrat to win in next Saturday's special election.

A recent Democratic poll (Global Strategy Group) showed the Democratic candidate, liberal businessman-physicist Bill Foster, taking a narrow lead over his Republican opponent, conservative dairy magnate Jim Oberweis. Foster has been outspending Oberweis nearly two to one.

Oberweis, who has lost three GOP primaries for statewide office, is a controversial figure inside the Republican Party. Nevertheless, losing the former speaker's old district would be heralded as a harbinger of a big Democratic year ahead.

There is
no doubt about the MSM favoring Obama.
This is the only time i have ever agreed Hillary.
People in the "news" are playing a very dangerous game and they had better realize the consequences that will no doubt follow.

fawning media.
Media has an "affirmative action" approach to Obama. It does not scrutinize his positions with the same intensity as it reserves for McCain or Hillary.

Whether it can continue this doublestandard only the shadow knows. It is almost embarrassing how the media fawns all over Obama...comical, too.

I think Novak is right on the Florida situation. I had read polls indicating Romney was quite popular in Florida. I think there may be something to the Crist overture by McCain.

All hail the Massiah
Just when I think the MSM can't make themselves look any more foolish, along comes Mr. Empty Suit (can we use his name yet?) for them to gush all over like luv stuck pre-teens. I haven't seen such goofy adoration since David Cassidy's heyday, but instead of affecting little girls, BHO has supposed adults swooning and fainting. Chris Mathews really takes the cake with something creeping up his leg.

Although I haven't watched the patently unfunny (is it just me) SNL since the early 90's, what little I heard of their skit on Rush, just about got it right. The fact that the media is now attacking Lorne Michaels and his wannabes for not casting a person of color to play Mr. O, is absolutely delicious. Even better than the black guy's editorial in the LA Times wondering if a certain candidate was "black" enough or just a "magic Negro" for white folks. Rush sure had a ball with that one and the clueless media continues to miss the point, shifting the focus on him instead of crediting liberals for being the racists they are.

What is really more dangerous about these media elites right now is the constant pounding they're giving the economy. Depression/recession is being planted and fertilized on a scale that makes their "we've failed in Iraq" gambit look like small potatoes.

Hopefully most people will search for some actual facts and statistics to offset those too lazy to inform themselves.

Hey, I can always "hope," can't I? How about hoping that McCain choses a young, vigorous conservative as a running mate who helps him get elected and then ole bonehead John takes a dirt nap early next year

Forget the stabs at humor
Hillary's writers had best steer clear of anything that approaches humor. She's constitutionally incapable of pulling it off, and only succeeds in embarrassing herself when she attempts it.

Clinton should go all negative
I don't want Clinton anywhere near the White House (again), but if she wants to attack Obama, she should just go at it whole hog.

He's a racist who belongs to a racist church that proclaims whites are devils and the world is Afro-centric.

He accepts the Nation of Islam enedorsement with its baggage of anti-Semitism and vicious anti-American program.

He was a hack Chicago politician of the left fringes, spent all his time in the IL legislature not only voting "present" (over 100 times according to John Edwards) but also "not present" and "abstain," whereby the next day he would enter in the record that his vote was not what he meant because he didn't understand the issue. Since he didn't vote yes or no, what difference would it make except he cannot commit a decision to almost anything?

He offers nothing but 19th C. socialism and post-WW I pacifism (of course, that's what Hillary proposes also), but she is at least realizes enough to know no one can precipitously eliminate US troops from Itaq over night and knows the world is not so easy to "talk" to as Obama says he will do with Iran. She should emphasize chaos in Iraq can mean the loss of 30% of our oil imports and can easily produced a $10-15 gallon of gas, freezing in the winter, and ec. recession for decades.

His wife revealed the anti-American elitism the couple subscribe to when she said she's never been proud of America before he husband ran for the pres. She, who attended Princeton and Harvard, saying she has always embarrassed by America is a denigration of the very office she and her husband aspire to. Why would anyone want to be pres. of something they have always despised?

Hillary is not preceived as warm and fuzzy. She may as well take the opportunity to use her public persona and slam her opponent everywhere it hurts.

Barack Hussein Obama and his Cabinet
The MSM picked our nominee for us,now they are picking the Democrat nominee. The MSN has been selling us a bill of goods for years and soon,we will be paying for that bill. Many of OHB's hysterical fans know not one iota of what is taking place in this country, yet they are fawning over him like he was The Second Coming. They are like lemmings ,blindly following the Pied Piper off a cliff into the sea.Stupid fools.Let's look at OHB's possible cabinet:
VP:Louis Farrakhan
Secretary of state:Jesse Jackson
Sec.of Labor:Albert Sharpton
Sec.of Int:Ted Kennedy(token white)
Sec.Edu:John Lewis
That looks like a part of a good cabinet to me.I can't wait for a "sensible"administration, for a change.
I am anxious to see how the MSM can make excuses for the mischief they are doing. They are the most dangerous people in this country(home grown terriorists).

Ex-Wyomingite
:-D You post a devastating stroke.

Rowly
The cabinet you propose might well lead to new evaluation of racism in our fair country.

Roadmaster, you've said
exactly what I have been thinking, but was too timid to write. That being McCain would get a real conservative for a running mate, then permanently retire. One can only have their dreams and hopes, I suppose.

Savage99
Haven't you heard? Only whites can be racist.

Nobody Cares
Novak, what planet are you living on? This Farrakhan endorsement has already been forgotten. McLame's 'misstatement' that he is a "liberal...er, I mean, a conservative Republican"raised a lot more eyebrows. Obama can beat the odious McLame no matter what freaks endorse him because McLame is just an AWFUL person who will not get the support of long-time Republicans. A McLame-Crist ticket, two beady-eyed, creepy old goats trying to scheme their way into power is unelectable. The stay-at-home factor is going to be huge and Obama will have large majorities in Congress.

Rowley
Of course i know that Rowley. Whose opinions do you suppose i expect would change? :-D

Obama & the Ministers
"Minister" Farrakhan may think BHO is the "cat's meow',but believe me,one Minister does not. Go to : http://www.ATLAH.org to see an enlightened one.

one add on
Rowley...... You forgot William Icebox Jefferson (D La.) as Sec of the Treasury.

Well, skep
if the dhimmicrats do end up with total control of the gubmint, it won't be because I sat home - I'll be working harder for conservatives this election than I ever have before. Whichever lib gets into the WH can only be reigned in by enough conservatives in Congress to block the stupid stuff they'll try to shove down our throats.

I disagree that McCain is an awful person; misguided, yes - egotisitical, self-serving, arrogant, mercurial? - sometimes, but he IS a man of his word. He's loyal to liberals he's gotten into bed with as well as long time conservative friends. He doesn't go back on his word because he is a man of honor. What torques most of us off here, is his penchant for getting behind stupid causes like Globalonney Warming (Mc-Leiberman), The Incumbent Protection and Media Empowerment Act (Mc-Feingold), and Amnesty for Illegal Immigrants (Mc-Kennedy).

You can call a goat
You can call a goat a firetruck but don't send it to my house if my house is on fire. You can call Willard the Weasel Romney a conservative but don't wait at my polling place to see me vote for him. I have never seen a lately liberal Born Again Conservative fool so many people. Has anyone followed up on the mess he left in healthcare in Massachuesetts?

The Great Distraction...

"Change" means "Escape".

Obama offers voters a "Distraction" from their sad and meaningless lives. Voters are looking to "Escape" their reality, responsibility, and old age. Obama is the fountain of youth, the end to personal responsibility, the filler of our souls, ecstacy for our pain. The war to end all wars. The new-age Messiah.

Obama is Utopia!

Jmag
Sorry...senior moment....a perfect job for him and he already has a down payment to bribe for it.He certainly would NEVER be investigated.

Romney
I want Romney as the vp.

When the primaries started I liked Guiliani, even tho I'm a social conservative and a Christian. I loved how he challenged the NYT's with their advertising cost discrepancies. Guiliani got no help from the MSM. They never even said his name until it was time to say good-bye. I don't think he can be vp because he's too old.

This election, true conservatives hate McCain. He's a grumpy old man who seems to have many of the qualities that grumpy old men are famous for.....selective hearing(hears what democrats want in a president but seems deaf when republicans make requests), dementia(can't remember if he's a democrat or a republican).

Quite frankly, he's very old. Everyone is going to be looking over his shoulder at his vp. No one talks about the fact that he could deteriorate.

I grew to respect Romney. He has many qualities that we need right now, especially regarding economics. He also has name recognition. I want McCain to choose Romney, someone make that grumpy old man listen.

Remember....we can't discuss religion anymore so Romney should be able to debate without being intentionally derailed.

Obama and the ministers part 2
I failed to add to the address for the minister.Need to type in; http://www.ATLAH.org on youtube....sorry

CH - Romney
Which Romney are you in favor of? The one who ran against Ted Kennedy? The one who served as governor? Or, the one who ran for president? Maybe you just want a three for one deal. He has never walked the talk he gave in this last run. Do you live in Michigan where he is going to bring back all of the jobs that were lost in the auto industry? Which promises are you compelled by? Do you just like the fact that neither he nor any of his five sons ever served in the military? As to his religion, I will vote for a Mormon the same day I vote for a Muslim.

CH - Romney
Forgot to ask you what you liked most about Willard's business past in the private sector? Ampak or DDi? Do I need to list more? You ought to know them as you are an informed voter.

Why the surprise?
Why would anyone be surprised at dems seeing their political candidates in a messianic light? Conservative pundits have been illustrating for years how the left has replaced the worship of God, with putting their "HOPE" in their elected officials, with the black robed nine on the Supreme Court as their high priests.
That's why the left reacts to any expressed criticism of their candidate's position on issues the same as the Muslim reaction to the Mohammed cartoons. This mentality lends itself to looking for One who can promise CHANGE and HOPE, without being specific about what the change will be or how it will be effected. The left's mental assessment of issues seldom goes any farther than the slogans they have on their bumper stickers

Ike Eisenhower was a Jehovah's Witness and Andrew Jackson stole another man's wife.

If you're looking for a savior you better vote for the liberal messiah.

zedsmom
Interesting post.
Made me think that Romney only got his conservative crown after his defeat and conscession speech. Almost like the 'true' conservatives said...oops, maybe this one and that one wasn't so bad after all.
Retro embrace seems to be common among conservatives.
On the other hand, I think if he continues to develop, continues to embrace conservative principles over the next few years in some capacity, he has the makings of a good president. Conservative bone fides aside, I didn't think he'd be able to beat Obama (or perhaps even Clinton), so I am glad he didn't become the nominee. Needs more seasoning.

CH - Romney
Maybe you admire the fact that Bain Capital was sued and lost multiple times. Remember Bain Capital? Hint - Willard's private sector business. Oh! That's right, being sued and losing doesn't mean you've done anything wrong. So, what about the criminal prosecution in federal court that Bain Capital where Bain Capital was found guilty? Remember the one where the U.S. Attorney said Willard's explanation to the press was a lie?

Jewish Support Crucial For Obama's Prez
OBAMANISM IS THE CURE FOR CLINTONITIS AND MIDDLE EAST STRIFE.

Obamanism is the cure for Clintonitis that has devastated America and I hope Jews all over US rally around Obama and support him to win both the nomination and the Presidency because after he wins, he would help the Jews and Israel as well as settle the Middle East problems.

However, if Jews betray Obama and he loses, Africans worldwide would consider it a betrayal to the whole African people and will never forgive world Jewry.

In retaliation, (eye for eye, remember!) Africa would consider expelling all Jews from Africa who have been mining African Gold and Diamond and enriching themselves for many centuries.

It was African gold and diamond that built international finance, trade and banking that the Jews (Rothschild, Warbug, Rockefeller and others) dominate.

It was African gold and diamond that built Jewish banks and wealth worldwide.

Thousands of years ago, when Jews were starving and nearly perished in Palestine, they took refuge in Egypt, Africa.

If Egypt and Africa did not feed the Jews, perhaps there would be no Jews today.

Jews also took all Egyptian and African science, technology and religious knowledge that have helped them to develop themselves and to get to where they are today: on top of most of the industries and corporations all over the world.

Jews owe Africa and Africans everything they have today because if Africa did not shelter them when they were homeless and starving, they would not be here today.

Let Jews remember who their best friend is!

The only people who have been nice to Jews have been Africans.

It is now payback time and Africans hope you would not bite the hands that fed you and made you rich and the envy of the world today.

I think there should be a rule
when posting that we try to explain our misgivings. I did google DDi and AMPAK out of respect for you, but I don't know what you mean.

Mccain is a Hawk, he did the military time. Romney is a beusinessman who can help move us economically into the future. He can help us find a way out of the energy/environmental stranglehold.

I am a Christian (I believe Jesus is the savior of the world) and I love my Mormon friends, and I have many.

I would vote for a Mormon.

CH
Your point to zedsmom is an apt one, your examples aren't: I don't believe that President Eisenhower was a practicing Jehovah's Witness during his adult life. Little parallel there to Romney, who retained his faith heritage.
Jackson stealing another man's wife hardly applies to Romney either.

That said, I do agree that none of them are perfect (except if you liten to Lilly about Obama). Sometimes, there's a litany of wrongs, and it realy all comes down to one thing. I wonder if zedsmom would mind all the other things quite so much if Mitt were a presbyterian? I wonder if all McCain's sins would be so grave if it hadn't been for the immigration bill?

CH - Romney
I don't have a problem with Eisenhower's religion. May he RIP! "Both Catholics and Protestants are nothing less thtan the 'whore of Babylon' whom the Lord denounces..." Orson Pratt, Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, The Seer, p. 255. Brigham Young, "Should you ask why we differ from other Christians, as they are called, it is simply because they are not Christians as the New Testament defines Christianity." Journal of Discourses, vol. 10, p. 230. Lots more where those came from. And, why did BYU get hammered more for the e-mails it sent out for support and $$$ for Willard? It is a church owned school.

zedsmom
I just went to wiki for Bain Capital.

It says,'Bain Capital was originally conceived as a combined equity start-up and leveraged buyout fund, an innovative strategy at the time.'

I'm trying to understand your misgivings, but you seem to be proving my point.

It says he left bC in 2001 to run the olympics. When did BC get sued?

SCOG
Your statements are unbelievable. I am particularly boggled by your statement that Jewish intellectual prowess is based on African science. Hilarious.

scogostology
Your post is downright scary.
It is the most warped, vile sentiment I've read for awhile, and I had to flag it as offensive.

Jews, like anyone else will make up their own minds about their candidate.
Jews owe nothing to Africa (or anyone else for that matter).

SunThe1
Aside and apart from the religion he so stoutly defends, I would object to Willard. He has gone from far left to far right in this century. Willard is that goat being called a fire truck. If you want to believe his business brilliance, study it. Look at where he got his financing in the beginning. Don't just take his word for it. Research it. Since when do you assume a politician who has been all over the map is telling the truth?

SunThe1
Ike did convert but he was raised a Jehovah's witness.

Romney is a visionary. You can't make any progress unless you take risks. He seems to be able to take risks and succeed. He nothing like McCain, which is good.

Roadmaster
I'm sorry, I cant agree. McCain's refusal to shake hands with an FEC commissioner who criticized McCain-Feingold and the sneering way he gloated about his bad manners went a whole lot deeper than just issues. Men of Honor are the epitome of GOOD manners. Ronald Reagan. Watching McCain in the Florida debate insisting on his shabby lie about Mitt Romney's 'timetables' with that smug, sneering look made me certain that I could never vote for someone of such low character.

Robert
'Romney did the worst sin to my ind in the primary, he pandered to groups solely for their vote.'

Are you serious?

Who do you think McCain should pick?

CH - Romney
Wiki is hardly a reliable source. Do some real research. Bain was patterned after another company and was not an original thought of Romney nor his business partners. Bain Capital is a spin-off from Bain & Company, Inc. Willard said he "blew the whistle" on Bain Capital for using Damon Corp. to massively overbill Medicare system. U.S. Attorney Donald K. Stern said that was a lie and Bain Capital was "a case pure aand simple of corporate greed run amok".

zedsmom
I'm really selfish, because I'm looking for a vp who can help us keep our sovereignty as a nation while functioning in a global economy.

Mormons are really good stewards of their resources and they love their country.

My daughter is kicking me off the computer....I'll be back later.

zedsmom
I can see that you've found some quotes in mormon books (or about mormons) that incensed you.
To tell you the truth, I don't really give Mr. Romney much thought, and won't unless he becomes a candidate again in the future.

I like Fred Thompson as McCain veep
He's a bonafide conservative without reservation. He has the actor's ability to speak well and his "folksy" demeanor is what the MSM like about Huckabee. He would add cons. weight to McCain's ticket.

If not him, than the impossible of Condi Rice. She says she won't run for office, but she was provost of Stanford, a concert pianist, chairman of NSA, and now sec. of state. No one has better credentials, and if she ran in 2012 (assuming McCain, if elected, in one term; if not elected, then she becomes standard bearer), the Dems. with their crippling gender-race hobbles would have no answer to her.

MD/MG
You may have been too timid but we are all thinking it. A conservative Veep is McCain's ONLY hope of winning this election. Normally you pick a Veep based on what states he can bring to the table. In this case, the states in question will be the RED states.

Thus, a Veep like Newt, Mitt, JC Watts, Michael Steel, or George Allen will help him, not because the Veep will have any say in a McCain admin but because he will succeed McCain when he keels over.

Not that I am wishing ill on McCain but NO sitting senator has ever been elected to the White House and survived his first term.

Yeah, Whatever - McCain's VP
Okay, so McCain is looking at Crist on the Republican side. Which Democrat is he eyeballing?

There is no living or dead person that McCain could put on the ticket to make me vote for him so he may as well do whatever the heck he wants. I couldn't think of a worse job than being McCain's or Hillary's VP. Talk about your micromanager/awful bosses. They'd probably have their VP pruning roses in the rose garden.

Obama, on the other hand, is going to need all the help he can get IN OFFICE. His VP choice will actually be someone we should pay attention to.

CH and SunThe1
I appreciate your goal, CH. My goal, too. Willard is the wrong vehicle to reach that goal.
SunThe1, it never hurts to research a candidate. As to Mormonism, over forty years ago I started reading about religous movements. I am a Christian, one of those who is considered in a 'whore of Babylon' church. There are a lot of good people who are Mormons. I doubt they have studied their religion as much as I have. I consider them misguided. I would be hardpressed to fall for the basics of the LDS. This is one topic I could write on for longer than you care to read. Romney, however, knows LDS well. His father was one of the Twelve.

renny
I agree with your posts alot of the time. I always read them because they're invariably logical.

You post at 11:36--while good thoughts, are far from realistic I think. I'm with you that Dr. Rice would be excellent (and could have been top of the ticket, not #2). Don't look for that to happen.
What you say about Fred is true too, but that won't happen either. McCain must pick someone substantially younger, and furthermore someone who could step in soon. Whoever he picks needs to be a viable presidential candidate in 4 years. Not Fred, I'm afraid.

Zedsmom
I enjoy reading peoples comments about the situation that we find ourselves in politically these days. It seems that Zedsmom is using this forum to show what she really is and that is nothing more than a mormon hater and bigot. I knew if kept reading the comments that it would come to that. Too bad, in what way are you really any different than others that hate someone for what they believe in?

zedsmom
You're right. It would be more than I'd care to read, especially since it is (right now) of no consequence.

Jody - wrong
Stating your beliefs is not being a mormon hater and a bigot. When I consider any candidate, I look at their background and closely held beliefs. I am entitled to my opinion and to voice my opinion. I would not vote for Romney for many reasons. It is only when you have no other argument that you resort to name-calling. I have set forth facts. Do you have any to put forth that contradict them?

Romney
Zedsmom, I knew that if I kept reading long enough that you would reveal your ignorance and true colors. Mitt's father was not a member of "the twelve" as you said, it was his grandfather, Marion G. Romney. Now, if you had studied "mormonism" as much as you claim you would have know that now wouldn't you. You have shown what you are and that is a bigot and hater of something that you don't truly understand.

OK.
Who fits the young conservative bill who is nationally known?

I have some other knowledge on McCain that is not good for him or the party or whoever he chooses as veep. A close friend who was very active (not me; I did support Mac before Bush got the nomination, but I have supported Bush, even when I don't personally like his choices--i.e., last summer's immig. biil) in both Bush campaigns and has volunteered a couple times to work for McCain now.

He was a volunteer coordinator and sometime fundraise and would have good Rep. contacts amongh his former campaign experiences. McCain's people have turned him down dead, saying they don't need his help or knowledge.

I know much of what McCain did in the past 7 yrs. results from a terrible grudge against Bush from 2000 primary campaign, but McCain has to give that negativity up. He needs every soul in Am. who would work and support him.

Jody - right you are!
You are correct! It was his grandfather who came back from Mexico. Isn't that correct?

Romney
zedsmom, I personally would not have voted for Mitt Romney, regardless of the fact that I am member of the LDS faith. You are the one who brought religion into this discussion and I felt that I needed to comment since you were doing that. I have nothing further to say.

Jody - No surprise
I can see why you wish to cut it short without addressing Willard's business and political past. Didn't need a seer stone for that.

To Skep41
I agree with you. Senator Obama's references to others, in his speeches, have been unfailingly polite, and that includes using Farrakhan's proper title. Obama debates like a gentleman. But how in the world would Roadmaster recognize politeness, or anything to do with being a gentleman---look how he speaks throughout his posts? Example: raising the possibility that a President McCain taking office at age 74 might perhaps die in office, Roadmaster refers to such a death as "ole bonehead John taking a dirt nap". Unfortunately, this shows what we sometimes see on townhall, the manners and language of the trailer park brought into what passes for political discourse.

Laura Cap
Hussein Obama in the whitehouse would only be a figurehead. Ted Kennedy will tell him everything he must do.
And since Hussein knows nothing at all about running the country or affairs around the world,he would be a puppet to the Socialist Liberals.

renny
I have no idea what the grudges are that you refer to, and how that impacts his choice of VP. Dr. Rice has removed HERSELF from any consideration. She's been pretty clear and I believe her.
I like Fred, and maybe there's a role for him in the cabinet. I don't think he'd be a good political choice for the VP slot on the ticket, because of his age (one elder, but not two). I don't think that has anything to do with grudges, it's just political reality.
An heir apparent would be good if he could find an apt one.
Personally I hope it is NOT Crist, as much as Crist would like that rumored.

Lilly & skep
I agree with you, and see nothing to fault if Sen Obama refers to someone by their proper title. It's the right thing to do.

Robert
You've been smoking funny stuff again.

Conservatives are not hated. Kerry could not get enough votes in any state to give him the electoral college votes for pres. Same for Gore who didn't even carry his home state.

Clinton only won 43% of the vote in both his elections, and if Perot's votes were added to Bush I and Dole, the Reps. would have received 57% in 1992 and 1996.

When you look at other pres. races in the last 1/2 century, Johnson was the last Dem. landslide: 1964, partly a reaction to JFKs assassination.

Nixon won landslides in both 1968 and 1972. In the latter, McGovern only won Guam, DC, and MA. Carter won in '76 because the country was in recession (Dems. always love recessions and wars), Ford had pardoned Nixon, and Carter went on to preside over the worst economy since 1936. The nation was finally saved by Reagan's tax cuts.
Mondale and Dukakis were trounced, and Clinton only won because Perot siphoned 12% and 9% from the Reps. in 92 and 96.

Who is going to elect Clinton/Obama this election that couldn't elect Gore or Kerry (both better candidates than Obama, for sure) in the last two elections. They got all the "youth vote" then. It won't win natinally elections, regardless of its enthusiasm in primaries.

Don't bother replying. I'm going to the store.

GunnyG

Would you get the h*** over yourself and the damned blog?

How Does It Feel Hillary?
Do You Feeeellll Like I DooooOOOO!

Getting treated like a Republican by the American hating press isn't much fun. LOL

Changing My Mind
I have reveled in seeing the probable demise of the Clinton Machine. I definitely do not like Mrs. Clinton. She is a hypocrite and a phony. She has no real beliefs except her desire to be the first female POTUS.

However, as I see more and more of Obama, and now especially his wife, I am starting to get a bit fearful. I am beginning to think that Obama and his dedicated, socialist (and definitely racist) wife could do serious, long-term damage to this country, even if he has only a single term. There will be very little to counterbalance his Utopian programs with the Dems and the MSM so dedicated to his cult of personality. And, recent comments from Mrs. Obama are frightening. Her hate for private business, the free market and capitalism are not the beliefs of a rational person, but those of a radical. Although Mrs. Clinton is committed to a significant role of the government in our lives, she still respects private enterprise. Mrs. Obama has strongly suggested that she would see our entire lives directed from a "beneficial" central authority dedicated to her version of redistributing the wealth.

I have concluded that although Mrs. Clinton is nothing but a power hungry politician, and somewhat of a sociopath; if elected President she will probably govern as a moderate, somewhat like her husband, so she can assure herself of that second term. She is certainly not a towering intellect, but probably fairly pragmatic and will surround herself with some bright people, who, she might even listen to on occasion.

Since it is obvious the Dem will win in Nov., I am now hoping that Mrs. Clinton gets the nomination to prevent us from being subject to the rash decisions of an unfettered, far left ideologue and his radical leftist wife.

old progrmr
great post...isn't amazing that Obama and his wife make the clintons look conservative?

I do disagree that we will lose in Nov. We have no choice but to fight. Even if we lose we learn a lot by fighting.

Glenn
Why don't you get over yourself...If you don't like Gunny G blog you don't have to read it. Most of the conservatives posters love reading his stuff but he tells it like is ...exposing the liberals for who they really are..

C.H
What republicans need is someone other than McCain whose liberal senate record leaves much to be desired. I will relucntanly vote for him but he's not my first choice. I guess you could say I'll voting for the worst of 3 evils

Black Cannot Criticize Black
Some of us are mixed but I'm not--I am white, through and through, and I am proud of what I am. Unlike Obama I do not have to pick and choose. Many Mulatto's have their ancestry during slavery to point to as the source of their mix. Many know their racial mix was not by choice but by force. Not so Mr Obama, his Mother chose and now Obama has chosen--but not his Mother (who raised him) or her race but instead the man who abandoned him at 2 years of age.The Muslim. Good choice Obama, your Mother must be real proud of you. I suspect Obama thinks he will accrue some political gain by wearing his Blackness on his sleeve. I also suspect he is right during the Democrat tussling for the Party nomination nod. In the General election Obama's concern should not be with the loss of 1% of the Democrat vote to Nader but the far larger percent that will vote Republican because Obama chose the wrong half of his genetics, and the religion some argue we are at war with. There is something very weird about where Obama is in his life, how he got there, and his age. Obama is not that accomplished but he seems to have had very professional handling and political schooling--I believe we will eventually find out there is far more skulduggery associated with him, his political organization, his vast ability to raise money, and the frequent reference to 1 million donors. If all of them gave %40.00 a month, every month, he still could not reach the figures his campaign reports. Something is amiss.

@Renny RE: Rudy
I will forgive you for having responded to the troll given that said post was illuminating. I might add that LBJ winning as a result of the JFK assassination could only have happened because JFK stole the election from Nixon in Illinois and Nixon was too much of a gentleman to fight the battle to get his electors back. Ironic that what Nixon did in order to preserve order in the Union, Gore was unwilling to do in 2000, thus sparking the current vitriol of Blue State vs. Red state.

So really, JFK's admin was an aberration due to a corruption of the process and disenfranchised the majority of the voters in 1960. LBJ would have never ascended to the WH except for JFK stealing the '60 election. Then, as you say, Perot made it possible for Clinton to win, and while a fair win, his election was not the will of the majority.

Thus, the last Dem president elected by the clear will of the citizenry was Truman.

Talk about a loser party.

Old progrmr:
You write: "Since it is obvious the Dem will win in Nov."

Several months ago I commented on another blog that I was unhappy that Duncan Hunter wasn't getting the media coverage that I thought he deserved. I received more than one response telling me that I shouldn't concern myself, because it was obvious that the GOP nominee would be either Guiliani or Romney.

I do not accept that it is certain that a Dem will win in Nov, it's still 8 months away. Anything can happen.

pandm says:
"There is
no doubt about the MSM favoring Obama."

Except you don't offer a shred of proof...

Robert
I like Sarah Palin. I just have to inquire...your interest has more to do with her experience than her looks, right?

I think she is an interesting person. I like her as a choice because she would be the warm-fuzzy to McCain's cold-prickly. It might be a great dynamic. I actually don't care if McCain likes his vp, though.

I don't think she's as good as Romney regarding the economy, but she is governor of Alaska....where the oil is. She might have some unique energy insights. I'm not sure if America would embrace her. I'm sure feminists would find ways to discredit her because she's become successful without following their rulebook.

The conservative talk radio shows should interview her.

Kay B. Hutchinson is a Senator. I think we need a governor.

WarrDogg writes:
"Except you don't offer a shred of proof..."

Me: "There is no doubt that the earth revolves around the sun"

WarrDogg's likely reply: "Except you don't offer a shred of proof..."

Which would be true. One does not need to produce proof for something so obvious.

The MSM sees Hillary losing to McCain and they can't have that.

All of the GOP candidates on the initial roster could have beaten Hillary and we pretty much all knew this.

So did the MSM.

They were stuck with her however until BHO started surging with the empty-headed Dem voting base and started to look like a real winner. At that point, the MSM said "screw you" to the Clintons and, like John Lewis, switched sides and have been boosting Obama ever since.

Look for them to ignore his sordid past, his anti-intellectualism, his empty rhetoric, his dubious ties to racists, and his Leninist ideology. He is their messiah.

What they have done to Hillary they will do a hundred-fold to McCain.

Roadmaster says:
McCain "IS a man of his word."

Not to his first wife!

He's already been caught LYING about his various lobbyist/Lover machinations outlined clearly in the New York Times

Here's the MAIN reason you're gonna lose big - youy KEEP calling Obama an EMPTY SUIT without pointing to a SINGLE achievement of John McCain's - eever. In fact, the base trusts Obama MORE than McCain - tee hee...

I can't wiat for Gunny to say "Yes Sir," to Obama...

Gunny's racist blood will freeze in his hateful body!

WarrDogg
You didn't seem to mind too much when Clinton wasn't a man of his to his wife and to the American People.

BBrox says:
""Except you don't offer a shred of proof..."

Me: "There is no doubt that the earth revolves around the sun"

WarrDogg's likely reply: "Except you don't offer a shred of proof..."

Except you COULD if I asked. Yet when it comes to the so-called MSM, it's all about your FEELINGS and INTUITIONS and whatever RUSH told you that morning.

Proof - like some facts and figures - or a quote from a PUBLISHER - an email or memo or fax - ANYTHING - but you CAN'T - because its typical Warpublican BS wrapped up as pure Victimology - from the FAILURE of VIETNAM to the FAILURE of Iraq, from the criminal Nixon to the current buffoon in chief, Warpublican puppies ALWAYS blame ANYONE else but the man in the mirror.
Offer proof, my friend - a least a tiny shred, if you expect to be believed.

lolo1 says:
"You didn't seem to mind too much when Clinton wasn't a man of his to his wife and to the American People."

BS. There's a difference between losing respect for a president and cheering for Republican operatives who put their party before the country.

touche, lilly
for the course discourse, trailer park reference. I used to use the ad hominus restrictus motto, but arguing with unrepentant liberals (exercise in futility) has flat worn me out. They never get any wiser and I ought to get another hobby besides poking holes in their Marxist/socialist drivel.

Obama seems like a nice enough guy, but people haven't really picked up on his nanny government, budget busting, tax and spend, economy killing, diminished security policies. Maybe they will eventually, but I won't hold my breath for the MSM to expose him, because they agree with most of his pap, and understand it has to be kept mum or he couldn't get elected to garbageman.

Again, thanks for calling me on my previous remark hoping McCain takes a dirt nap - it was more in the style of hateful liberals than a gun toting Christian, huh.

I'll try not to get all wrapped up with this hope thing again.

WarrDogg
First off your making assumptions.

I am not cheering for McCain.

Secondly...you have no idea how many Democratic operatives are on this forum alone. What is good for the goose is good for the gander.

Third and foremost...hypocrisy is thy name.

What else is new?

wardoggie-do
The R's (not my party-mark me independent) may well lose big but it won't be because right thinking conservatives as myself buy into communist, anti-american phonies like Mr. and Mrs. O.

It will be because too many clueless morons, such as yourself. cancel out our common sense votes.

John McCain was about my last choice for the nomination but as a Viet vet I have to honor his suffering in the service to his country and be satisfied that he throws a bone to the right occasionally. If SCOTUS and national security weren't so critical in this election, I'd tell him to go pound sand, like I have for his last two senate campaigns here in AZ.

What did BHO ever do for this country, except run it down and offer ways to dismantle it?

Being first
The complaint about being asked the first question is also strategic. Obama is then in position to rebut and refashion his own statements. One place it showed was NAFTA, which had been a centerpiece in his attack on Hillary. After her answer, his was basically the same about renegotiating it under the threat of opting out.

warrior
Regarding your campaign calulations and something being amiss. Where indeed did all the big $ come from?
You are quite correct in smelling a rat.
I think it's named $oros.

My guy can handle it.
It's hard to find an article where people are actually reading and commenting here at TownHall, any more. Therefore, I will try to get the word out with several postings.

You have been duped by media, both liberal and conservative, about McCain. Therefore, you don't have the whole story about Mike Huckabee, either. Here's something you might not have known.

http://www.youtube.com/user/huckreport

My guy can handle it.

You see, it's not about hating the Democrats.

It's about a love for our country.

I don't choose to vote Obama because I'm anti McCain. I choose to vote Mike Huckabee because I'm pro-America.

I see better days for America with Huckabee, not the avoidance of a lesser evil with McCain.

I see someone who really comes from Hope, again, with Mike Huckabee. Someone who will make America a better place. Maybe even someone will make Americans a better people.

I really have Hope with Mike Huckabee, again.

renny - your 9 am post is
RIGHT ON! There is nothing for me to add ;-)

Cap and renny
Agree.
This might be an election between one who has given much for his country and one who has taken much.

Michael Steele
for VP.

As for Obama, I've watched him become cockier and more arrogant as the fawning, stupid, left-wing media lifts him higher and higher on the pedestal they have created for him.

Unfortunately, this 24/7 brainwashing propoganda by these socialists seems to be working, because while the average American hasn't a clue of what Obama's about, they applaud when he blows his nose.

Surely the bubble will burst eventually, when the empty air inside cannot no longer hold the superficial surface together.

So your position WarD is?
That Obama has been scrutinized just as much as Hillary?

The antics of the Clinton campaign, vis a vis Bill's comment, "This whole thing is the biggest fairy tale I've ever seen..." which were seen as racist by the MSM and the Obama campaign was calculated negative criticism.

The Obama people were just waiting for the Clintons to play the race card and even when there was dubious evidence that they were doing so, they were called racists.

Of course, the Clinton's are loathsome people so I say what is good for the goose...

BBrox says:
"The Obama people were just waiting for the Clintons to play the race card and even when there was dubious evidence that they were doing so, they were called racists."

You got a quote on that?

ex-Wyomingite
True.

The old Dem. warhorses really don't want Hillary.

And one of the worst things about Obama besides the fact he's a 19th C. socialist spouting post-WW I pacifist rhetoric is that weak pres., like Carter, create powerful Congresses and terrible legislation for the nation in general.

Ergo, review the late 1970s Carter double digit inflation, double digit interest, chronic recession, and experts wondering if the stock market would ever hit a $1000. And, Tehran invaded our embassy and the USSR invaded Afghanistan, two horrors that impinge on us evey day now.

Carter said he was surprised about the USSR move. On Tehran, we waited 444 days until Reagan was president before the kidnapped embassy staff was released.

Obama could be a near repeat on the inexperience on foreign affairs.

Self evident
WarrDog, I am less than interested in debating with you something so obvious as the MSM fawning over BHO. If you have not been keeping up enough to see it, fine. I don't really care.

Democrats on Religion
In my Bible there's a line about your treasure being attached to your heart, (Matt. 6:21) If Democrats promise that other's treasure through taxation will be redistributed by the government, how can they answer a simple question concerning religion with any credible authority? God can provide the same things and more than what Democrats, with the help of misguided liberal Republicans, have replaced with government entitlements while asking for a simple 10% in return. Socialism is a poor replacement for the practice of true religion. (James 1:27)

ex-Wyomingite...
I took some comfort from your wise words! They make tremendous sense and because of that, you're are more than likely right.

BBrox says:
"WarrDog, I am less than interested in debating with you something so obvious as the MSM fawning over BHO. "

That's not what you said - you spoke of a media conspiracy - I said prove it.

BTW, I've read quite a few articles recently question the efficacy and experience of young Obama.

renny says:
"Carter said he was surprised about the USSR move. On Tehran, we waited 444 days until Reagan was president before the kidnapped embassy staff was released. "

And?

And Reagan rewarded the kidnappers with Tow missiles and other advanced weapons systems. As to the Soviet invasion - had we let the SOVIETS do their job on the TALIBAN AND JIHADIS, we'd NOT be fighting them ourselves right now. Reagan - the tough guy - the genius, spent billions arming and training our future enemies - including SADDAM - and you all still praise him as great.
I doubt history will judge so kindly...

Madam klintoon's tongue
Given that she's losing to a black man and is in personal, desperate trouble with her own campaign, don't you just get the feeling that she would dearly love to let her tongue have free reign, complete with 'f' and 'n' bombs, with a few thrown lamps for good measure?

War doggy
You are the stupidist poster ever to appear on TH.
END OF FACT!

Demoralizing Democrats
Lets hope that Hillary manages to tough out this campaign, and win at the convention. What is more demoralizing than having your hopes raised so high that you will get something new, then getting the some old thing.

Clinton turns off a lot of Democrats, not just Republicans. Many Obama supporters are only in the game to support HIM, but are not people who would usually even vote.

So I want Hillary Clinton to stay in the race and bash away at Obama, and hopefully take down the rookie, crushing the dreams of millions of young Democrats. They will console themselves by getting high, and forget to vote in November.

Don't wear that Mitt!
If John McCain chooses Mitt "I'll flip flop on any issue" Romney as Veep candidate, I, and many like me, will NOT be counted on to support that ticket!

Making the peanut farmer look smart
Barrak Hussein Obama gives crowds so many platitudes he makes the 'peanut farmer' (Carter) look like a genius!

I served active duty under that poor excuse for a leader. Praise God I was priviledged to serve under a man similar in back bone to President Bush, President Reagan.
