Bush Against Romney

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- While President George W. Bush has maintained neutrality among contenders for the Republican presidential nomination, he privately expresses to friends his exasperation with Mitt Romney's hard-line stance on immigration.

Bush is upset that Romney changed his position on the issue, compared to what it had been when he was governor of Massachusetts, at the expense of the president's immigration reform. Bush and Sen. John McCain are not close, but the president is grateful for McCain's support on Iraq and immigration.

A footnote: The president's younger brother, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, has not endorsed any presidential candidate. But he and his political allies were behind Romney's losing effort in last Tuesday's Florida primary.

TEDDY'S DISTRESS

Sen. Edward M. Kennedy may have endorsed Sen. Barack Obama for president anyway, but his support was hastened by Bill Clinton's disregard of Kennedy's plea for Sen. Hillary Clinton's campaign to moderate anti-Obama rhetoric.

Kennedy has told associates the former president listened politely to his telephoned advice to dial down criticism of Obama that emphasized him as the African-American candidate. Then Clinton turned around and continued to zing Obama in campaigning for the South Carolina primary. Kennedy likes Hillary Clinton but is not so keen about her husband.

A footnote: Kennedy is one of four Democratic senators who endorsed Obama after Clinton won the New Hampshire primary Jan. 8. The others are John Kerry of Massachusetts, Tim Johnson of South Dakota and Patrick Leahy of Vermont.

Hoffa Neutral

Teamsters President James Hoffa tells friends he still will not choose sides between Democratic presidential candidates Sen. Hillary Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama in the face of renewed pleas for his endorsement from both camps.

Associates close to Hoffa believe he is inclined toward Clinton because he questions whether Obama is ready for the presidency. Nevertheless, he intends to sit out the presidential contest until the party's nominee is selected. He did not have a particularly happy experience in 2004, when he was an early supporter of the losing candidacy by his friend and law school mate Rep. Dick Gephardt.

A strong pitch for Hoffa and the Teamsters to back Obama was made by the Culinary Workers Union, whose support nearly defeated Clinton in the Nevada caucuses despite her backing from the state's Democratic regulars.

Busting Pork

An effort by Democratic Sen. Ron Wyden of Oregon and Republican Sen. John Thune of South Dakota to add $15.6 billion worth of pork barrel spending to the bipartisan economic stimulus package failed in the Senate Finance Committee Wednesday, when Chairman Max Baucus rejected it.

On Monday, aides for all senators received an e-mail listing the amount of money for building infrastructure that each state would receive under the Wyden-Thune proposal. Pennsylvania with $1.3 billion and West Virginia with $1.2 billion led the list. The states of the proposal's co-sponsors would benefit by $251.2 million for Oregon and $181 million for South Dakota. The two most populous states, California and Texas, would receive nothing.

Baucus indicated his interest in infrastructure spending but also turned down a plea to commit himself to considering the proposals two months from now.

Florida Surprise

Florida Gov. Charlie Crist's unexpected late endorsement, which helped propel Sen. John McCain to a momentous victory in the Florida primary, came as an unpleasant surprise to Republican leaders around the state.

Crist had passed the word to GOP regulars that he was not making an endorsement after he shunned former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani's courtship and suggested that they also stay neutral. His support for McCain irked Republican activists who generally would have preferred former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

A footnote: While losing the state, Romney carried heavily Republican Collier and Lee counties in southwest Florida by substantial margins. That represents Republican voters whom McCain will have to win over if nominated.

Bush for illegals
of course he opposes Romney. That headline is totally unfair though: bush against Romney.

what a cheap shot. Come on Bob . . . . you could have also said "bush machine supports romney". you are a hack bob.

Good for Mitt!
NOT having a Bush endorsement is saying something to me...
Bush should endorse Hilary and expose the full depth of the scam once and for all :)

Illegals cost us $300 billion a year
I guess if Bush doesn't like Romneys immigration views, then I will most definately like them. Along with about 76% of the country|:

1. $11 Billion to $22 billion is spent on welfare to illegal aliens each year.

2. $2.2 Billion dollars a year is spent on food assistance programs such as food stamps, WIC, and free school lunches for illegal aliens.

3. $2.5 Billion dollars a year is spent on Medicaid for illegal aliens.

4. $12 Billion dollars a year is spent on primary and secondary school education for children here illegally and they cannot speak a word of English!

5. $17 Billion dollars a year is spent for education for the American-born children of illegal aliens, known as anchor babies.

Illegals/continued
6. $3 Million Dollars a DAY, (a DAY) is spent to incarcerate illegal aliens.

7. 30% percent of all Federal Prison inmates are illegal aliens.

11. During the year of 2005 there were 4 to 10 MILLION illegal aliens that crossed our Southern Border also, as many as 19,500 illegal aliens from Terrorist Countries. Millions of pounds of drugs, cocaine, meth, heroine and marijuana, crossed into the U..S. from the Southern border. Homeland Security Report:

Do your representatives in Washington , DC , know how you feel about this?

Seriously?
Come on Bob. "but the president is grateful for McCain's support on Iraq and immigration" I'll give ya immigration but Iraq?!!! McCain has been his biggest thorn through this whole conflict, ranting and raving. If (and that is a big if from this trial balloon floater) this is true, then Bush would have killed his last 30-something percent of support.

I don't care what Bush thinks...
"While President George W. Bush has maintained neutrality among contenders for the Republican presidential nomination, he privately expresses to friends his exasperation with Mitt Romney's hard-line stance on immigration."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
About 88% of the American people have expressed exasperation, both private and public, with Bush's insane amnesty plans. I voted for this jackleg twice and I can't wait to see the last of him. He's almost single handedly destroyed the Republican Party.
McCain
It's unbielevable that we as conservatives allow Mc Cain to continue to thumb his nose at us and think that we will support him because he said and did something else we disaprove of. He is an ego driven person and nothing else matters but him, God help us all.
SO Bush boys threw Romney under the bus
WHOA
Because of Romney's stand against Illegals
the Bush boys threw Romney under the bus and backed over him:
Used Crist, Huck, Arnold all of their ifluence to do the hatchet job and stab Romney in the back
It does not get more disgusting:
Mcain Will Lose Big to Obama
If McCain appears on his way after supertuesday the MSM will push Obama hard. McCain looks like he has one leg in the grave against Obama. McCain will NOT draw a majority of independents and will not bring out the base. McCain will be embarrassed in the debates against Obama. The MSM will parade out the Keating 5, Cindy McCain's drug addiction and wrongful firing of a whistle blower and McCain's "Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran" song he sung on the stumps. McCain's age, his temper (heaven forbid he have access to the nuclear button)and his mental lapses and misstatements will be front and center. Did you hear his meandering nonsensical answers to the economy in the CA debate? Obama will eviscerate him in a one on one. Romney could beat Obama in a debate and election. McCain's skeletons will be far worse than the flip flop moniker Romney would have to fight.
I think the reason Bush
has trashed Romney is not illegal immigration(although thankfully Romney's views are different!) but because in 2000 Bush was shoved ahead of McCain (and McCain is known to hold grudges.) I still believe some kind of deal was made back then, are we are now seeing it come to fruition.
Stop Spreading "Flip-Flop" BS
"Bush is upset that Romney changed his position on the issue, compared to what it had been when he was governor of Massachusetts"
Romney never changed his position on the issue. He fought his Legislature to prevent Driver's Licenses for Illegals in Massachussetts. He instituted English only immersion in schools. Please stop spreading the BS.
Mitt Romney actually has a record in Massachussetts, stop playing 'telephone' [i.e., I thought he said this, I heard he said that, somebody told me he did this or that] and DO YOUR JOB AND LOOK IT UP!
Facts Romney supporters
Ignore, but most Americans will not and is why this flip flopper Romney is headed back to his confused state of Mass.
1. First governor in US history to install and defend gay marriage.
2. A pro-choice abortion rights record, including participation in Planned Parenthood fundraisers and inclusion of abortion on demand as a taxpayer funded benefit in his state-controlled Massachusetts universal health care plan.
3. A long-time supporter of Massachusetts gun control laws with a public record that is anti-second ammendment.
4. A documented history of being anti-Reagan throughout the 80's and 90's and while running for office in Massachusetts.
5. Was a proponent of amnesty for illegal immigrants... until he decided to run for President.
Economy a Disaster Under Romney
The Massachusetts economy under Romney ranked 47th in the nation. That's 3RD WORST! The job losses under Romney were staggering and the job creation non-existent. Only the Hurricane Katrina states fared worse than Massachusetts under Mormon Mitt.
Numbers don't lie, and the numbers say Mitt Romney is the anti-economy candidate, if anything.
Okay Mr. Novak
We knew President Bush was upset (even Jeb expressed his displeasure) about Romney attacking immigration reform. And John McCain did help save Bush's legacy on Iraq (and it did not hurt McCain campaigned for Bush in 2004). No big revolation there.
But if Jeb was helping Mitt in Florida, was he also helping McCain? You hint at it.
If this were Hugh at the Movies (where you pick a movie scene to fit a Hugh-O-cassion, this one would be from the Devil Wears Prada. Promise the job to one lieutenant then switch at the last second and give it to another (very Machiavellian).
Who Cares?
I wanted Thompson. I like McCain's grit, however like them or not no one can beat Obama. I hate myself for saying that as I believe he is going to be as large a disaster as Bush.
Don Jones
Thank you, Jorge Mush..
..For the subtle little hit-job on Mitt Romney for his pro-American stand on Amnesty for Illegals.. contrary to Mush's obsession with McCain-Kennedy's Shamnesty..
He is not perfect; but to his credit, Romney's stance on Illegals, etc has changed towards the Right..for the better..
So, being dissed by a lame duck RINO, Globalist couldn't be all that bad for the current best hope for the GOP base..
Go Mitt Romney..
Retirement Time?
Mr.Novak, you are precisely the type of journalist who needs to be thrown out along with the dirty bathwater.
From the time even before he was 'in office' Junior had already broken one of the strongest of Republican/conservative principles--states rights. When he and his daddy had him installed by the Supremes, jumping over the Florida courts and the counting of the citizens votes, We democrats saw the writing on the wall(and reviewing his governorship helped as well).
Bush's eight year tenure has been trainwreck in SLOW MOTION.
That Republican voters continued to ignore the valid objections from the emphatically concerned left in '04, objections that they see ONLY NOW as tragically significant, should be a signal that they should also now be ignoring pundritry that enabled such havoc when considering their choice for the next eight years.
Mr.Novak, you are far too comfortable with the establishment to be of any trusted use to the American public.
I hear Cheney is renting out guest houses on his plantation in Dubai!
By the way...
Mr.Novak, you forgot(?) to mention or recall that Poppy Bush did the introduction for Mr.Romney when he had his Mormon coming out speech. I recall it was a rather complimnentary intro. Is the Bush family splintering as well?
suzerose
President bush's tenure has been a slow moving train wreck??
Not to worry, the destruction of this country will damn sure speed up if hillary gets in the Whitehouse.
Just what allows you to think positive of hillary's SOCIALIST aspirations?
You are a jabbering idiot.
FALSE !
"Mitt Romney's hard-line stance on immigration."
Bob: you should have correctly said, " Mitt Romney's hard-line stance on ILLEGAL immigration." Not "immigration."
All the Bushes do love Romney, but don't want to come out publically in support of him, in case it may hurt Mitt's chances in this election. Because GW Bush is quite low in national polls, and unpopular with many, Romney's and Bush's supporters don't want to connect Mitt's name with the Bush surname. That is good. I like president GW Bush too.
BUSH AGAINST MCCAIN!
FOR VOTING AGAINST BUSH'S TAX CUTS.
So what else you got Novak?
Well Bob, I was getting nothing but bad
news yesterday and here you come with a lot of good news today.
So Bush doesn't like Romney's opposition to illegal migration. Ain't that just too bad for Bush, good thing for us he will not be around anymore.
Also, Teddy is unhappy..another boo hoo. Too bad for us that we can't get rid of him like Bush. Come on people of MA, give us a break here, you have been plaguing us with this communist for too long now.
And finally Florida; where the county with real Republicans went for Romney and the rest were independents and Demos voting. I still say this primary has been a cluster-F from the get-go. Perhaps that is what we need to send to the Republican bosses. The primary system is broken, no more donations until it is fixed.
And the Florida Gov went behind everybody’s back to do that endorsement? It sounds like SC where the “fix” was in (except for voting machines at Myrtle Beach).
Good morning, Vic
My county went for Romney. It was the vote in the heavily to the left counties in south Florida that did it for McCain. Sadly, polls show McCain ahead on Super Tuesday. Probably the best we can hope for is that he doesn't lock it up and we go to a brokered convention. McCain and Hillary have the same type of baggage problem. They have more solid supporters than any one rival, but should the rivals coalesce behind one person, they are toast. Crist has not been much as Governor so far. Jeb did better, but his father and brother were such disasters, i can't see myself EVER voting for him, should he stay in politics. And i don't like dynasties, either. Well, maybe vote for Jeb for congress, as better than a DEM. But don't i ever look forward to voting against Mel Martinez when he comes up in a couple years.
Savage99
I'm hoping for another surprise and poll killer.
Vic
Yeah. I said pretty much the same on another thread. And hardly unreasonable. Its a long way to November, heck, its a long way to August.
Deport Bush and McCain, Elect Mitt!!!
I voted for Bush twice and your boy McCainiac in the 2000 caucus, only to be utterly betrayed by their illegal alien invasion treason. Article IV, Section 4 of the Constitution REQUIRES the federal government to protect the states from invasion, and that provision is not trumped by Senate club rule or Presidential delusion that it's none of our business. Remember the Rasmussen poll at the time those two sellouts schemed with Teodoro Kennedy last summer? Ninety-two percent of Americans opposed the secrecy (thinking we still have a democracy) and 85% opposed (and still oppose) the amnesty invasion and the skunks pushing it. And you try to say Mitt is the one out of touch?! He is the one who DOES get it! If it weren't for you punditzes propping up great grandpa Wacky Jack, he would have been finished after he placed fourth in Iowa. If Jorge Bush didn't have such a short time in office he would have been impeached for his amnesty treason. But it's not your problem is it, since you Washington types already have a fence around your "compounds" and "gated communities"? Romney will still save us (your sorry hide included), I pray to God. Wake up Americans! Don't vote sellout.
This should surprise no one
But Fox and Friends just announced that Bowel Movement.org is endorsing Barak the Empty suit.
If that doesn't totally kill his chances among all but the most extreme whackos like Wobbie and Hal Dufus then I don't know what will.
The term "illegal immigrant"...
...is an oxymoron.The word "immigrant" implies legality.And the suporters of illegal aliens know this and use it knowing that all of us have immigrants in our background.
We have both "legal aliens" and "illegal aliens" in our country,as does all other countries.Families of foriegn diplomats and foriegn tourists are "legal aliens".Those who smuggle themselves into our country,against our laws, are "illegal aliens".And that should be the term we use for these foriegnors.
Speaking of Moveon
I wonder what the McCain supporters would do or say if Moveon.org or the Daily Kook was to come out and flat out endorse McShame.
I'm sure that our resident "Reagan Conservative" expert on everything would go orgasmic about it.
But, would that bring anyone else with even half a brain to their sense about how far to the left McCain is?
Nam 65-66
You're right. Criminal Invader fits them better.
Nam65-66
Precisely. I will vote for McCain just as soon as i hear him say "illegal alien". Har Har, neither is ever gonna hoppen.
Take a BREAK
and check out a few stories on my blog (click on my handle) one on Iraq, that you WILL NOT see on the Lame Stream Media.
http://noliberalspin.townhall.com/
Jorge Bush and McCain
Bush's endorsement shows signs of the love affair that the Bush family has with the Council on Foreign Relations, Trilateralists, and Bilderbergs. Father Bush is a member of the CFR. Guess who else? John McCain is a member! No doubt that Jorge will become a CFR treasure as soon as he evacuates the WH. Evacuate as in bowel movement. Novak you mentioned that Romney flipped on illegals but failed to mention that McCain is a much bigger flipper that showed up only when the nomination campaign started. When the US citizens say they do not want illegals and amnesty, why does Bush keep up the fight for lawbreakers? And until 9/11 and the nomination process starts why does McCain go in the other direction? Answer, that fits their principles and values -- so what can we expect from McCain if he gets elected? Never fear, he doesn't have a reasonable chance against either Hitlery or Obami.
Housing Meltdown
Why home prices could drop 25% more on average before the market finally hits bottom
NEWSWEEK-As Washington policymakers struggle to keep the U.S. out of recession, the swirling confusion over the housing market is making their job a lot tougher. Will American consumers keep shopping or be forced to pull back? Will banks lend freely or be hamstrung by mortgage defaults? What are the best policy options right now? Those and other important questions simply can’t be answered without a good idea of whether home prices will rise, flatten out, or keep dropping.
Some experts have begun to suggest that a bottom is in sight. Pali Research analyst Stephen East wrote in a research note to his firm’s clients on Jan. 25 that “the sun is not shining very brightly, but at least the worst of the storm has likely passed.” With optimism budding, Standard & Poor’s beaten-down index of homebuilder stocks soared 49% from Jan. 15 through Jan. 29.
McCain's past??
A political junkie told me McCain has a sordid past that the Dems are sure to exploit if he's the GOP candidate.
One being the Keating 5 or course, but more sinister is a tape the CIA has from the Russians of McCain "giving up" some fellow prisoners while being held as POW. The other story is his many lady "friends" who are lobbyist - this is current history. Anyone know anything about any of this?
immigration and global warming
Bush is unfortunately highlighting Romney's strength. Of course very few folks are connecting the dots on immigration policy, the economy, and global warming. Whatever your evaluation of the data on the source of global warming, there is pretty good agreement that per capita carbon load is about a factor of 25 greater in the US than in Mexico. So getting maybe 12 million of the persons illegally in the US to go home would be a "green" result, bring the US very close to zero population growth (ZPG) by choice and reduce the rate of population explosion in Mexico by resource pressure. The real long term problem with global resources is the desire for a nice lifestyle despite finite global resources and a growing population. By enforcing existing employment laws we can remove incentive to illegally immigrate and motivate folks to go home. That will stem and partially reverse the tide even without border security. Of course the "fence visa" program would actually go a long way toward solving the problem altogether. The problem with "The Fence" is that is not ambitious enough. It should be an environmentally sensitive nature tour, resort, and amusement park combined with mag-lev high speed rail and energy and water pipelines. All the illegals should be able to apply for a "fence visa." Sign up, get a free ticket to the work zone, a decent job, amnesia about your previous immigration violations, and a short walk home when the fence-resort-rail-pipeline project is done. Then we continue to inspire nations to wage prosperity on their poorer neighbors to stem violence and create a long term drift toward ZPG and the survival of the planet.
THINK JUDGES!
Think Judges!
Conservatives...imagine...a conservative court.
The next president will, most likely, get to choose two jurists for the Supreme Court. Ruth Bader Ginsberg and John Paul Stevens are all ready to retire...they are just waiting for a Democrat president to make their exit. They may get their wish if we nominate McCain. Hopefully, they won’t and we elect a conservative president. In any case, one or both of them will still need to retire.
If our next president is a conservative, Ruth Bader and John Paul could be replaced with a John Roberts and a Sam Alito. Wouldn’t that be cool, finally, a conservative court.
Now...imagine...who McCain would pick? He, who is so close to so many liberal friends, who is the toast of the liberal media, who has shown no respect to the conservative base, who is a creature of the Washington elite...I wonder who he would pick? Most likely, at best (and I am being gracious), moderate fence sitters to annoy us for many years.
Gunny G
Good morning, Guns. Trust me on this, here in the Atlanta area, we are well aware that they are criminal invaders. Most of the stories on the news where violence has been committed in hte last couple of years seem to be Latino names or are identified as Katrina refugees. Crazy, isn't it?
BTW on your post about that turd of a judge, WTF IS HE THINKING?
don't think you'll see Bush endorsement
The fact that Tom Delay and Karl Rove despise McCain so much ought to NOT go unnoticed.
Remember, these two were primarily responsible for the GOP losses in 2006 in congress, along with the Iraq war.
Delay's legacy(along with Hastert's)left an environment in the House that tolerated corruption, sleaze and sexual deviancy(see Cunningham, Ney, Abramoff influence, and Foley), which, along with Rove's incredible stupidity in pandering to hispanics by misreading the public on Bush's amnesty scheme(which was undertaken as a last-gasp effort to stop further erosion of Bush's declining poll numbers due to the debacle in Iraq), were the reasons for the GOP debacle on '06.
I do think Bush's low poll numbers will probably keep him for endorsing any of the GOP candidates.
Most of the GOP presidential debates have focused upon Reagan, with narry a peep about G.W. Bush.
Gee, I wonder why.
To the extent Bush is irritated with Romney is probably an inducement for me to vote for Romney, altho at this point I still think McCain offers the best chance of beating the democrats in the fall.
Anyone who believes...
...that there are too many people in the world are free to absent themselves from this planet.In the interest of "global warming",of course.
FrmrSSGT
That judge is obviously dorked up in the head. I can't research if the clown is a lib or not since the cable incident in Egypt two days ago. I'm betting he is.
And as I said, he's LUCKY it wasn't my kid affected by his decision.
Voter's Concern
Bush,that twit, is concerned about Romney's stance on immigration, but he has never given one iota of concern about the voter's who put his sorry butt into office are concerned about. He and the unhinged John McCane are two peas in a pod. With those two it's the voters be damned.
John Konop
I just wanted you to know that your incessant "botting" for Ron Paul has had it's desired effect. I'm voting for Paul.
Just kidding you tinfoil hat wearer!
Immigration - Limbaugh & Russert
The American public is not served well by reducing the complex issue of immigration to sound bites - Romney is trying to capitalize on Rush Limbaugh and Tim Russert by playing on the emotions of a frustrating issue.
Ohg
http://thefiresidepost.com/2008/02/02/limbaugh-looks-and-so unds-like-tim-russert/
Our mistakes are being watched.
This is how it was done. Keep in mind the unlimited illegal immigration now going on.
Back a bit the Republican party allowed lots of Democrats to migrate, they did not learn the consertive language, they did not assimiliate, they did not join the culture of the orginal conservative members, now the party is over run.
Mr. J.B. Williams in Canada Free Press tells U.S.
what and how.
http://www.canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/1674
We have met the problem and it's within.
ROBERT
I have to ask robert, why do you hate this country so bad? The only thing that will happen if mcCain gets in is we will be over run by illegals. Same as if the dems win. I have nothing against legal immigration, i'd be a fool to be. But letting unchecked people in and out of here, allows for spread of disease , let alone terrorism.I'm disgusted with the rebublican establishment, as much or more than the dems! At least with them , you KNOW your getting socialism.But now i see how it is on both sides, power ,power ,power, The people and country be damned.Well ok,But can you see what will happen, at least in Texas where the people still have balls , and guns? I fear for this country.
Bush and Mitt...
The headlong rush of illegals into our country reminds me of a ship that is dangerously tipping. Once it goes, we all drown. If McCain, Obama or Clinton is at the helm, we're going down even quicker. This country has been in trouble for two or three decades. We're late in realizing that illegal immigration is the worst domestic problem facing our country. And the fools who are spending millions to be our leader, are out begging for the "Latino" vote. Has anyone heard "I sure would like the white vote?" No, Latinos (I guess its passe to be called "American" anymore) are the choosen ones. I wonder if the candidates think these people are going to support them in the style to which they've become accustomed? I hope so, because the only one that will get MY vote is the one who will swear on that inaugural Bible that he/she will deport every illegal alien in this county! Guess Bush IS mad at Romney. He's sees that someone might just enforce the law.
You bet Bush2 wants McVain
Two of the biggest US sell-outs in our history!
Bush2 destroyed the Reagan coalition, and has pretty much single-handed nailed the final nail in the coffin of this once great nation.
I helped; I enthusiastically voted for Bush2 in 2000; by 2004, I was disillusioned, but the alternative was "lurch", so I held my nose and voted for Jorge again! Well, no more nose holding for me, thank you.
Polling shows that the three top issues to US Citizens are the economy, homeland security, and immigration, and as far as I'm concerned the first two are wrapped up in the last. Stopping Illegal Immigration (I prefer to term it INVASION), and providing strong BORDER DEFENSE in the process, is essential to the integrity of improving the economy and providing this nation with the best in Homeland Security.
I pledged last summer that a candidate's stands on DEFENDING our borders and enforcing our laws on immigration would determine whether I voted for that candidate or not. If Bush2 were running again, he wouldn't pass muster, and neither does his preference, McVain. I have alreaddy vetted the GOP candidates running in my Congressional District and have my preference, and have no problem voting for my US Senator seeking re-election, John Cornyn, who McVain cursed publicly because Cornyn was trying to fine tune the McVain-Kennedy scamnesty to prevent criminals from ever qualifying for US Citizenship.
I hope ALL Republicans are remembering their pledges of last summer during the McVain-Kennedy sell out debates, and are set to reject McVain at the polls, as well as, down ticket traitors like his "good friend" Grahamnesty of So Carolina.
would I vote for a Democrat instead of McVain, even if they would institute his type of scamnesty? You bet your life; I'd rather the Democrats have the legacy of totally screwing the US Citizens than the GOP.
Clean up Florida
McCain snuck into a late night secret meeting with 9 other amnesty Senators.
That meeting produced the McCain-Kennedy Amnesty Bill that WILL increase taxes by over $2 trillion....all to be spent on the support of illegal aliens. It WILL also allow anyone to buy U.S. citizenship for $40 per month.
The word "WILL" is in caps because, if elected, McCain WILL sign that bill when it is re-introduced.
Among the 10 amnesty Senators were Ted Kennedy and Mel (rhymes with Fidel) Martinez R-FL. Martinez is a long-time amnesty p1mp, but it was the last minute ensorsement of McCain by Martinez and formerly popular Florida Gov. Charly Crist that tipped the scales to McCain.
If McCain is the nominee it won't matter who is elected because America will be damaged forever and Americans owe that to Martinez and Crist.
The White House will be automatically cleansed of Bush amnesty treason in November, but we will have to go to work to defeat amnesty p1mps Martinez and Crist in their next re-election attempts.
what remote elites don't get
The remote elites simply do not get the righteous indignation among MOST Middle Americans about the ILLEGAL invasion. Presidente Jorge grew up with hot and cold running Mexicans waiting on him... other wealthy remote "elites" like their cheap maids and gardeners. As great Senator Sessions notes, (remote) members of Congress try to sneak scamnesty past us because they imagine that they know better what is best for us and are more "compassionate" than we.
These people never shop at Wal-Mart, nor do THEIR children go to public schools sullied by the madding herd of ILLEGALS, nor are their communities balkanized and turned into barrios via the concomitant social pathologies which ILLEGALS pervade like fleas spreading the Plague. Their miscreant employer friends tell them at cocktail parties that the Mexicans work like dogs for cheap wages, so America must benefit from their being here. BUT, this "savings" is NOT passed on to the end user. It is slavery redux-- a relative few "owners" benefit greatly, but the legacy for Middle America is DREADFUL and egregiously expensive.
Today's America can ONLY benefit on balance from EDUCATED, skilled, LEGAL immigrants, NOT the tsunami of welfare-dependent-to-be ignorant, indigent, culturally disparate.
State of the Union..
Bush plugged for McCain in "his" State of the Union speech... Bush calls for 50% reduction in earmarks/pork.
My guess is... Bush will fail (purposely) in this effort. His failure will give McCain ammunition to "claim" that a "President McCain" is needed to take control of Congress.
And, of course the Bush brothers do not want Romney in the White House. Who will protect and pardon them after the Democrats dig up whats hidden under the Rose garden.
I'm sure Bush's second choice after McCain/Rudy is none other than Hillary. Another certain protecter of open borders and the next queen of pardons :)
the conservative hope would be in an honest Romney who would stand firm on a nominee (who is a well qualified strict constructionist with ABA high approval and exemplary experience) until "the people" make the Senate cry "uncle" and approve him/her! A good (Thomas like) Supreme nominee might also be a black female, or even better a hispanic male over which the Senate Dems would go weak in the knees quicker and cave.
I think Gov Crist is not too popular among the rank and file GOP of Florida just now, and according to some the GOP leadership in Florida is quit put out with the man. Perhaps, he has never been the man for the Governor's mansion in Florida (I hear Jeb's not too fond of Crist either)
McVain
McVain claims he doesn't know much about economics and tries to offset his weakness by constantly bringing up his service in the 1960s - 1970s as a "leader" of a naval flight squadron; I've only found naval squadron's of 240 members, and 202 of those are not under the direct command of the squadron leader; they are attached support personnel! So McVain has the management accumen of a high school teacher and about as much economics understanding (unless the teacher teaches economics, and then the man is woefully inadequate in comparison!).
His direct knowledge of the military is that of some 40 years ago, and much has changed since! His recent military knowledge has come from the very place that anyone who eventually occupies the whitehouse will seek the same knowledge, the Joint Chiefs! ...and as far as I'm concerned I fear a McVain who would try to tell the Joint Chiefs their job becasue he thinks he knows more than they do, and he has just the personal make-up to do such!
I just saw a McVain "talking head" stating that the patriotism of those who have served in uniform is greater than an American who never served in uniform but had been successful in the private sector creating the profits to pay the wages and buy the equipment of those patriots in uniform! Who are these McVain people? So, from McVain's own debate mouth "patriotism outweighs profit" (he is addressing the ONE strength he has sold to the masses, his service record) means that every American who has not served in uniform is less than him because he has!
New McVain adv "when McVain was a POW, he was inspired by Reagan and became a Reagan footsoldier"....REagan was not in office, or even much on the national stage, when McVain was a POW, and he divorced and married money and his daddy-in-law got him elected to the US House, and he has been a footsoldier for special interests in AZ ever since!
NOVAK AT IT AGAIN
Mr. Novak enjoys twising the knife in Mitt Romney. The fact is, if you were to ask Mr. Bush how he feels generally about Mitt Romney, he'd tell you he likes him...a lot. Romney is the only one who has defended Bush on the stump. Also, Jeb Bush LOVES Romney. Much of Romney's staff in Florida was made of former Jeb Bush staffers, who Jeb encouraged to join the Romney effort. By the way, don't underestimate Mitt Romney. This guy's not done...not even close.
Never To Mitt
It is vitally important that someone with real world experience not be elected president. Knowing what works outside of government is a drawback to the ability of the chief executive. It would just confuse them. It is best if Hillary, Obama or McCain (won't matter which) wins in November.
Hillary and McCain have nothing but government experience and as such are perfect fits for what our government has become. Obama has slmost no experience of any kind which is almost as good as government experience.
We need to get used to America being more like the European Union where things are managed from a central office and if you know what is good for you you just shut up and do what you are told. This type of system is great for the overseers. It doesn't matter how it is for the rest of us.
Bush vs Romney
Presidnet Bush took an oath of office and swore on the bible "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
He has not preserved or protected the US from illegal immigrants. He has jailed Ramos & Compean for doing their jobs. He and McCain tried to pass the Scamnesty bill. It's no wonder that Bush doesn't like Romney.
I heard am interview of Romney on the John & Ken Show in LA where they asked him point blank what would he do about the border and the illegals.
Romney would build the fence, hire more border
control agents and santion employers who hire illegals, thereby drying up the jobs. In that manner, they would go back to their country of origin. Bush is clueless when it comes to the damage illegals have done to this country.
I say good ridance to Bush! Anymore, anything Bush or Arnold Schwartzenegger endorses RUN, don't walk the other way!
It's easy American voters are STUPID and McBSartist knows this. Americans are busy watching American Idol, Britney Spears, Snipes and all of the rest of the crap smoke screen put in front of us to even begin to use their heads.
Doc
Thinking that America's love of freedom is strong enough to overcome it's desire to be cared for is quaint. America is voting to be taken care of. Are you going to take up arms against being forced into a Washington controlled HMO? The government already controls the property you live on and the kind of car you drive. They are in the process of taking control of the kind of food you eat.
I don't see torches and pitchforks being wielded because transfats are being banned. That is the way it is happening. The voters are actually pushing for government action in these and a lot more areas. Millions of people sitting around saying 'yep, gubmint otta do sumpin bout that'. Well, they are and there won't be any revolution to stop it because that is what the people want.
bush vs romney
that the president betrayed america by not protecting the border and allowing an invasion of illegals is proof bush violated his oath of office. That he opposes romney because he favors strong enforcement comes as no surprise. The sooner bush departs into his retirement as a forgotten man the better. After 7 disasterous years, better he return to his ranch or better yet set up new residence with those he looked into their souls and saw someone who was his friend and could be trusted. He likes fox and putin so much he can spend time witrh them when he is not placated the saudi's
FOR TWO YEARS I HAVE BEEN SOUNDING
the alarm that we conservatives are nothing more than frogs in a pot of slowly heating water and for the last 6 months I've been yelling that the water is coming to a boil. NOW people are finally starting to wake up to the chicanery of the liberals in this country but it is too late friends. We are already cooked.
These people NEVER EVER give up, they NEVER EVER sleep! Their one abiding, burning goal is to take over the reins of power of America. Once they do that, they feel they can control the entire world population. They already have control of the UN and all of Europe. The funny, yet sad thing is that we've been warned all along, but most conservatives do not want to believe such motives are possible by their fellow Americans. You poor saps.
The first step to defeating the inevitable take-over of our government by a bloodless coup is to stop thinking of liberals as Americans. They are wolves in sheep's clothing. People like Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, and Patric Leahy are Globalists first and Americas only in name. They will sacrifice you and your family in a heartbeat if it meant they could gain control of the Oval Office and Congress. They are on the brink of doing just that and the only line of defense is sleeping or just doesn't give a damn.
When we wake up one morning and there stands Hillary and Obama with their hand on the bible, making a mockery of taking the oath of their offices, I don't want to hear one single conservative say, "How did this happen?"
The GOP convention has another option. The delegates on the floor can start a poll and see how many would vote for Newt Gingrich.
If enough delegates vote for Gingrich he would be the GOP nominee.
The state delegates are NOT obligated to vote for the state caucus winner.
If enough of us write in Gingrich it could be the push to start the word campaign into a floor vote that Gingrich is the candidate the people want.
We would not have an immigration crisis if Bush had enforced the law. That is one of the primary reasons why I am really apposed to McCain.
We do not want 4 more years of the same. We are tired of having to fight the people who are supposed to protect this country instead of sell it down the river.
Missus clinton is far too selfish to ever put herself at risk for anyone. That she relies on being continually saved by her useless husband proves she is also not the strong woman you on the the left maintains she is.
This is absurd. George W. Bush destroyed the Republican Party, by which I mean he sundered it, broke its constituent pieces apart and set them against each other. He did this on spending, the size of government, war, the ability to prosecute war, immigration and other issues…..
This said, I live in a border state and hope that Romney will prevail, but I am afraid that we have been sold out by the deal makers in D.C. because at this point I think that both parties have become wings of the same bird. Getting in the way
Perhaps the Idiot-In-Chief is annoyed that Romney is attacking his legacy: open border, stall the fence, don't worry about OTMs [other than Mexicans] sneaking over the border; don't worry about the fearsome diseases so many of them bring with them; or the crime causing an average of 25 American deaths per day. No, this is all part of IIC's legacy and how dare Romney stick his nose into it, how dare he demand protection and enforcement of our laws! Let 'em all in and give them a path to citizenship so they'll vote for Democrats until the US is destroyed in the avalanche of bodies flooding into the US.
FWIW Tancredo did endorse Romney
G.W. Bush's Endorsement
Remember this Americans, whenever a Washington, D.C. professional, political parasite endorses a candidate they expect paybacks if their candidate wins the election.
Rush Limbaugh says, "Governor Huckabee, at this stage, in my opinion, is in the race to take Romney out of the way for McCain". Rush said, "So he's going to try to get the Huckabee vote with the global warming route and try to get the evangelicals".
McCain allows 1.5 Million Illegals to cross his borders each year. He says, " I know how to secure the borders". He cannot secure Arizona's borders. How does he plan to secure America's borders and keep us safe?
Will Vincente Fox's Cabinet Minister, Juan Hernnadez, become McCain's DHS Secretary?
McCain just won 41 Louisiana delegates
We interrupt the debate blogging to give you an update on the Louisiana caucus...
I'm told this by a source in Louisiana who is a veteran hand in that state's politics, and has been reliable in the past. I have not verified this account, however...
Over 80 percent of the pro-life, pro-family slate delegates to the state convention have now committed to McCain. That's over 60 percent of the delegates to the state convention and a majority in 5 of the 7 congressional districts, plus the 3 RNC members. That means that 41 of the 47 delegates in Louisiana are now McCain's (unless another candidate magically receives over 50 percent in the Feb 9 primary). The other six will probably be his as well — they just aren't yet.
Hugh--time to update the delegate count list!
McCain has McMentum
McCain builds momentum as we head into the weekend. He gains former Rudy backer and ex-Massachusetts Governor Paul Cellucci (and decides to make Romney sweat in his home state) and also nabs former Rudy advisor Steve Forbes. (Fiscal conservatives can argue whether Forbes or McCain advisor Phil Gramm would make a better Treasury Secretary.) Finally, the McCain team advises the media that in the excruciatingly complicated Louisiana caucuses (in which an uncommitted pro-life slate initially won), the delegates have now selected McCain. He nabs 41 of 47 of the state’s delegates.
Little by little the pieces fall into place. Looking at the latest polling I see Mitt Romney leading only in Massachusetts, Colorado and Utah. In many Red states he runs third to MIke Huckabee. It is quite possible Huckabee will gain more delegates than Romney on Tuesday.
No CoMittments
Mitt Romney still has made no commitments to seal the border and never support amnesty. Mike Huckabee has. I will vote for Mike Huckabee.
Mike Huckabee never had sabctuary cities in his state of Arkansas, opposes drivers licenses for illegals, was the first to sign NumbersUSA's No-Amnesty Pledge, and the first to sign Jeff Sessions' Pledge to secure the Borders.
Wait till Vets target McCain...
The GOP establishment shooting down Romney will seem like target practice when compared to what some Vet groups will do to the constant flow of McCain's a heroic veteran line.
I don't know anyone that doesn't respect a former POW's sacrifice, but the respect does not default to all other facets of a person's life. IMHO, McCain's naval career does not exemplify leadership.
The GOP may neutralize sure-to-flow questions about McCain's military career (e.g., usvetdsp.com/jan08/mccain_military_record.htm), but I doubt they'll have the same level of success Clinton did obscuring Col Holmes' firsthand observations (made in his pre-election [1992] letter).
Vets vs. McCain
I agree totally. If McCain is nominated, the MSM and the Democrats will use veteran's groups to tear McCain apart.
The "secret" of John McCain's success so far is that the media is covering for him, and the Republicans candidates are afraid of getting chicken-hawked if they attack McCain.
However, once McCain got the nomination, the media will turn on McCain and support real liberals. McCain's teflon shield will be torn away because his accusers will be combat veterans. John McCain is an empty suit, with a terrible record, and mental illnesses. It would all come out soon after his nomination.
I'm thrilled
The fact that George W. is upset with Romney's position on immgration is proof-positive that Romney has the correct position.
As for those who think Huckabee will be strong on immgration, he has years of pro-immigration (illegal) to account for. Even McCain's promising to secure the border yet his actions clearly show he'll do no such thing. Words mean nothing.
Who would McCain put on the Court?
If you are concerned about the Supreme Court, please read this article before voting:
Bush wacked
Bush ought to get back in the bunker. Should have known he could not stay out of the fray too long.
bmr - you forgot something
"12. The National Policy Institute, "estimated that the total cost of mass deportation would be between $206 and $230 billion or an average cost of between $41 and $46 billion annually over a five year period."
We could make back some of that money by SEVERELY FINING the morons who are hiring the illegals. When those self-deport - THEN we round up like dogies, and run the rest of them back across the border!!! Put some of those Texas cowboys to work. Probably be a lot of Arizonans volunteering for the "drive" as well!
'Nuff of this crap. I hope you are all subscribing to NumbersUSA, Grassfire, and a number of other groups who are fighting back! The only way we are going to win this battle is to stand and fight!
Poor Robert
"The nose pickers are angry...they are banging on their keyboards...the worst thing that they can do!"
Robert, Robert, Robert ... And you sit around and scratch your arse and then sniff your fingers! No wonder nothing you say makes any sense.
JEB BUSH
Novak: Jeb Bush and his 'cronies' were NOT behind Mitt Romney's loss in Florida. In fact, Jeb gave his blessings to nine of his former staff, who worked for him as gov. of FL, to go and work for Romney's campaign more than a year ago. I had read this from at least three different sources in 2007.
Mitt lost Florida on IMMIGRATION. Most all of the Hispanics and Cubans votes for McCaint. So, the answer here in plain and simple. They voted in essence, for illegal immigrants to be allowed to stay in the US. This is also partly why Mitt lost California, unfortunately.
Mitt is still by far the best man for president. I hope a miracle occurs. Else we're gonna end up with Billary in the White House again! Horrors!
Thanks Mr. President.
As far as I am concern GWB destroyed conservatism.
BTW
Screw John McCain.
