Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

RICHARDSON FOR V.P.

New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, a Mexican-American who could pin down the Latino vote, is back as a leading vice-presidential prospect if Sen. Hillary Clinton wins the Democratic presidential nomination next year.

Richardson's poor early showing as a candidate for the presidential nomination, particularly in debates, had turned off speculation about him for second place on the ticket. But his clever TV ads have pushed him to the top of the second tier of Democratic presidential candidates and back into the vice-presidential swim.

A footnote: There is considerable opposition inside the Clinton camp to Sen. Barack Obama as her running mate. Skeptics consider it too risky to pair the first woman for president with the first African-American for vice president.

DANGEROUS GOP VACANCIES

The Democratic candidacy of former basketball coach Dick Versace endangers 68 years of Republican control of the Peoria-based congressional seat in Illinois left vacant by the retirement of Republican Rep. Ray LaHood.

Versace was a highly popular coach of Bradley University in Peoria before going to coach in the NBA. LaHood is in his seventh term in Congress after succeeding his boss, then House Minority Leader Bob Michel.

A footnote: A Democratic takeover is even more likely for another Illinois seat: a Joliet-based district where Republican Rep. Jerry Weller is retiring under a cloud of scandal.

Ron Paul has not one endorsement
and no money. And virtually no name recognition, except on cons. blogs.

He'll never get a delegate.

I've worked in the political wars since JFK and know there is no sense in putting in the time and energy and belief in someone who has no chance of sucsess. I wrote in for McCarthy in '68 and Anderson in '80, and then decided I would never again vote for nothing.

You can champion and vote for whom you wish, but it is RUDY GIULIANI who has the guts and experience and political knowhow to oppose whatever candidate the Dems. come up with (I think it will be a Clinton-Obama ticket that they'll promote as the must-elect combination or you're a sexist and a racist).

Reagan was only able as a cons. to pass his tax cuts--because we'd been in a recession for 6 years. He never got Roe reversed. In fact a couple of our nitwit Sup. Ct. justices came from Reagan.

He never got leg. passed supporting gun rights. He was before stem-cell research, and Bush only stops FEDERAL funding of stem-cell research. The private sector may research what it wishes. Reagan never appeared as an opponent at any gay parade or rally.

Pres.'s have very little power in soc. issues. No pres. can make same-sex marriage inconceivable. No pres. can issue an edict making all gun control laws obsolete. Ergo, the social/values cons. have to make accommodations for Giuliani or just throw away the election. Thta's gross stupidity.

No Goldwarer, no Reagan
exists today for Reps. to run for pres. Some hae the same values but none have any popularity or large following.

Ruday is fiscally, economically, and governmentally cons.

First off, he is the ONLY pres. candidate of either party who was in an elected executive position in NYC when terrorists attsacked the US.

When Rudy was mayor of NYC, the MSM media called him a Hitler and a "meanie"--their most atrocious condemnation. However,

He cut NYC taxes 20%.

He cut welfare in halfn (from 14% to 7%).

He cleaned up the streets and parks so residents and tourists could use them again.

He cut major crime so that NYC is STILL the safest large city in the US (forget Jodie Foster and the idiot The Brave One).

He brought tourism back to the city.

He ended the ouflow of population that was hurting the city's demographics.

The MSM said NYC was ungovernable. Rudy proved them absolutely wrong.

He says he will seal the borders. When he was a prosecutor, he said he would destroy organized crime in NY and set out to do it with several spectacular prosecutions. If he says he'll do it, he will certainly put 100% effort into it.

His social posiitons are mostly not relevant to being pres.

If Iraq continues to pacify with Gen. Petraeus' leadership, the calming of Anbar province with the helpd of Sunni sheiks, the business prospects of the Kurds, the better organization of the central gov't, 2008 will look good for Reps.

All the Dems. have is the war and defeat and failure.

Rudy could bring NY, PA, NJ, all of NE, and CA electorally back into the Rep. fold, and that means coattails and more Reps. in Congress.

Social cons. will have to decided if they want an electable candidate like Giuliani or they would rather practice suicide.
