Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

WASHINGTON -- The unusual Democratic outrage over ABC-TV's "The Path to 9/11" film to be shown Sunday and Monday reflects private concern in the party that the fifth anniversary of the terrorist attack can reverse the political tide running against Republicans.

The highly partisan Rep. Louise Slaughter of New York composed a tough letter to Robert A. Iger, CEO of Walt Disney (ABC's parent company). The letter cites two scenes from the program casting doubt on the Clinton administration's legacy in fighting terrorism.

Slaughter added as co-signers of the letter three senior Democrats who would join her as committee chairmen if Democrats win control of the House. They were Rep. John Dingell of Michigan, senior member of the House; Rep. Jane Harman of California, a top party spokesman on national security; and Rep. John Conyers of Michigan, a left-wing leader.

DEMOCRATIC INFIGHTING

In expectation of a Democratic takeover of the House in this year's elections, advocates of Minority Whip Steny Hoyer and Rep. John Murtha are engaged in a fierce backstage battle for their candidate to become majority leader.

Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who would be unopposed to become speaker of a Democratic-controlled House, is considered certain to vote for Murtha against Hoyer. Murtha managed Pelosi's successful campaign for party whip against Hoyer in 2001, which provided the stepping stone toward her current dominance in the House. Hoyer associates say Pelosi is working behind the scenes for Murtha, but Hoyer told this column he sees no such activity by her.

Although both Hoyer and Murtha once were considered part of the Democratic Party's relatively moderate wing, Murtha's aggressive opposition to U.S. intervention in Iraq has made him a favorite of the left.

A REPUBLICAN BREAK

Republican strategists figure they benefited from a little political break Aug. 28 when U.S. District Judge Ellen Segal Huvelle in Washington agreed to a joint motion by defense and prosecution lawyers to postpone the sentencing of disgraced Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

Abramoff, who in January pleaded guilty to corruption charges, had been scheduled to appear at a sentencing hearing before Huvelle last Wednesday. The reason stated by the Justice Department in agreeing to Abramoff's request for a delay was his cooperation with prosecutors, resulting in the conviction of former Bush administration officials.

The only Republican congressman who so far has become directly involved in the Abramoff investigation is Bob Ney of Ohio, who has not been charged with any offense but decided not to seek re-election. Nevertheless, GOP campaign managers did not relish the publicity of the Abramoff sentencing as midterm election campaigns began.

FUND-RAISING DOUBLE

Sen. Mike DeWine, who has been aggressively soaking up Washington lobbyist money for his uphill re-election campaign in Ohio, has added an unprecedented campaign finance twist: bringing in another endangered Republican senator for his fund-raiser.

During the August recess of Congress, lobbyists received an invitation for a $1,000-a-ticket "sunrise breakfast" (8 a.m.) in Washington Sept. 14 to "honor" DeWine. Listed as a "special guest" is Sen. Conrad Burns of Montana. DeWine and Burns are considered two of the Republican senators most likely to be defeated in November.

The breakfast will be held at Charlie Palmer's on Pennsylvania Ave. in Washington, a favorite restaurant among lobbyists. The listed hosts are the political action committees of EarthLink, an Internet service provider, and the National Mining Association.

ANTI-HORSE SLAUGHTER

With scarcely two weeks of work left before Congress breaks for the midterm election, House leaders scheduled time to consider the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act.

The measure, which would ban killing horses for human consumption, passed the House Thursday and was sent to the Senate. Many American horse owners pick up money on the side by exporting horses or horsemeat to Europe.

The anti-slaughter bill is sponsored by two Republicans: Ed Whitfield of Kentucky and John Sweeney of New York.

Libertarian isn't the same as Anarchist
"And what is a "reactionary Libertarian"? An "Anarchist"."

I see you're a true NeoCon. When backed into a corner, INVENT things your opponents never said.

Libertarians aren't anarchists. Libertarians believe in a LIMITED Federal Government, as outlined in the Constitution (you know, that document that our Presidunce swore an oath to uphold and protect?), with states having greater power and latitude to manage their own affairs.

I guarantee you that Washington, Jefferson, and Lincoln are break-dancing in their graves.

more on putting the UNITED back in...
Just happened to switch on Glen Beck, a conservative with a show on CNN. Don't always agree completely with him, but like his straight talk style. He happened to be saying essentially what I just said...that you have to start thinking and acting like Americans, not Repubs. and Dems. Being so divisive just plays into the hands of the Terrorists. See, it's not just a crazy canuck that thinks that...

Devisive ABC movie
People, come on, my point about the movie originally was that on a day when your country was more united then since WWII, and the whole western world was mourning for you, 9/11-2001, it was almost hopeful afterwards to see the unity and bi-partisanship of your government and citizens. And that's why I see a problem with the ABC movie--it is devisive a partisan, conserning a time when you were all Americans first, and foremost. And to win the war against terrorists, you have to be united. I in no way dispute the fact that the world needs a strong and unified USA for global harmony, but the vehemence and hatred spewing from BOTH wings is counterproductive. I am well aware that the fortunes of our two countries, past and present, are tied together, sharing the same continent how could it be any different? But constant name calling, finger-pointing,(And yes it happens in my country too)
takes energy away from dealing with the problems, and does nothing but distract. I have a friend that lives in Tampa, he is a lifelong Republican, and is an Iraqi war vet. And it is very clear to him that the devisive aura surrounding DC is very destructive to the country. Have your differences of opinion and ideologies, but to HATE and DESPISE fellow citizens because of these differences?
Underneath the rhetoric and spewing some of you 'spewers' might have valid points supporting your views, but they get lost in the rhetoric. It's like tuning out someone who constantly swears, you miss their message. I happen to think that the GOP party has alot of valid views and like the idea of smaller government and fiscal responsibility, but that doesn't mean I automatically slam the Democrats for not having those priorities. Your country fought a horrible civil war, and it is a testament to your greatness that you were able to re-unite after it was over. The Vietnam War, which a Dem. president got you into, was another devisive situation, and then you had Watergate to add salt to the wound. Your country has healed before from internal strife, but this time is different, 'cause the threat is from a "global war of ideologies" to paraphrase your President. I guess it is unrealistic and illusional of me to want to see you all as the UNITED STATES of AMERICA instead of RED vs BLUE...

Path to 9/11 a path well worn
Thanks Mr. Clinton, you have shown light on a movie that would have come on gone with little notice until your attempt at censor.

Your legacy is built on a flemsy foundation which is why you doth complain so. Rocket staging technology for the CHICOMs, a nuclear North Korea, are other examples of your legacy.

You will go down in history with Jimmy Carter, the Islamofastist's best friend, as the worst presidents ever. Yours is a legacy which should make any enemy of the USA proud.

As far as world opinion of the USA, who cares, the fifth columnists (democrats)and other enemies? Rumsfeld is right they are appeasers. If the world needs help they come to us.

Lenin's "useful idiots" are plentiful in the democrat party, this time the Clintonesta's carping proves them useless idiots.

Karl Rove should put you on his Christmas card list, Opps sorry you democrats hostility toward christians requres Xmas cards instead.

you have it wrong grayeagle
Which is typical for reactionary NeoCons. I am Libertarian, which is about as far away from socialist as you can get.

You, on the other hand, as a NeoCon are incredibly socialist! Government has grown under W. Bush at an unprecedented rate. It's hard to tell which has grown faster, the size of the government or the size of the deficit.

The GOP these days is the polar opposite of what it was in the early 1900's. Instead of a small government, we have a bloated one. Instead of being off our backs, it's snooping through our phone calls and emails, instead of being conservative, it's spendthrift. Instead of minding the store at home, it's preoccupied with interventionist foreign policy misadventures.

And most galling of all, it is socialist, granting financial windfalls and tax breaks to wealthy corporations, and subsidizing industry.

Sorry to rain on your parade, grayeagle, but not everyone who sees what an utter failure the GOP has become is on the left. True conservatives (and I would argue that Buchanan is one of them) can clearly see the Emperor's new clothes.

For Canuck Kate
So you see arrogance, intolerance and bullying. I am a patriotic American and i see humility and self control, over-tolerance, and foolish acceptance of sneers and jibes from the rulers of countries that bully their inhabitants unmercifully. Most Americans realize that the buck of defending freedom stops here and make an effort to do the job. France, Denmark etc are not speaking German right now because of us. Since Canada threw in early with the Brits you may very possibly have joined that group. Now you join the French and other nations who see us as arrogant, and maintain an inconsequential military establishment, secure in the knowlege the good ol' USA will save your bacon if necessary. We are not arrogant, we just can't afford to pay much attention to the self serving wishes of countries that are not capable of picking up their share of the load, but get hurt feelings when their desires are given low priority. Wars are not won by moderation and proportional response. International politics is not yet a win/win situation for all countries, even if Canada and the USA have an outstanding record at it. But the fact is, Canada is not part of the USA because they defended themselves bravely and effectively against American attack in the war of 1812. You are not a state now precisely because we follow the rules of tolerance and respect for law. There are powerful countries out there who don't. If China was your neighbor, your fate would be Tibet's. We have a history of mistakes, more than balanced by unique and incredible forgiveness and aid to former enemies. And most of the mistakes were made by moderate wishful thinking people.

Canookians Cansookian
Canuke Cate sez: "...they see arrogance, intolerance and bullying...."

I certainly hope so. Whenever I am confronted with oh-so-superior people who walk like they are holding a bar of soap between their legs, and talk the same way, I respond with intolerance like you wouldn't believe. And I'm not arrogant - I can't land a jet fighter on an aircraft carrier. Those who can are arrogant and entitled to be so. I'm just confident and aggressive. And finally, you don't have to bully wussies.

Too damned many frenchies up there - the Irish and Scottish genes have grown pale. What a shame.

"I refuse to believe that all americans are gun-toting,crass and ignorant braggart rednecks."

Only the good ones are, yo.

Where I was born, a redneck is your friend.

Re: John Thomas
You know what's sad John, you Democrats, leftists, socialists and other elitist forms can do nothing but sling personal attacks at non-Demos when politically frustrated -- one thing we never see or hear from you guys are real solutions to real problems...just fluff, personal attacks and arrogance!

Tool Festival
When it comes to pure entertainment, there's nothing like reading the inane ranting of brainwashed "Republican" NeoCons. All the real conservatives have abandoned the GOP for the Libertarian party, leaving this ignorant yowling rabble to wave their flags made in China and get all weepy over people exercising their rights the same way they did when "The Reagans" was canceled at their behest.

Seriously, you're an embarrassment. The party of Lincoln has become a total joke, with a spendthrift knucklehead at the helm, spending this country into deep debt and engaging in a feckless interventionist foreign policy. For all of Clinton's flaws, at least he managed to keep federal spending under control. Bush is spending like a drunken coke-addled fratboy at a strip club.

Buchanan in '08!

Dear Canuck Cate
Not once did I say that all Canadians are pot smoking, tree hugging, bleeding heart liberals. Those are your words, not mine.I simply implied that you have plenty of problems of your own with a little sarcasm mixed in. Perhaps you should fix them before telling us how to fix ours. Moderation is what has caused most of the problems in the good old USA. For way too long the (mostly) conservative base has sat back and watched as little by little our freedoms and rights have been stripped away by liberal activism. Furthermore, there are a great deal of Americans who could care less what the rest of the world thinks. As bad as it is getting here, I would not trade my citizenship or Judeo-Christian heritage to live anyplace else, including the beautiful wild areas of your country. I am definetly not blase' or sarcastic about what is going on here. It was my forefathers who prayed and bled and whose sweat made my country what it is.

And as for the affectation of redneck, thank you very much. The term originally came from Scotland. In the early 17th century many religious dissenters, mostly Lowland Scots signed 1 of 2 covenants stating that they desired a presbyterian form of worship over that of the Church of England. Many of them signed in their own blood. As a badge to remind them of this they wore a red cloth around their neck. Hence the term redneck. A lot of those same Scots later moved to Ulster in N. Ireland in order to worship more freely. Throughout the 18th century many of the descendants of these Ulster Scots came to America. During the time of the Revolution about 10% of the colonies were of Lowland Scots descent. Even though they only made up one tenth of the population they compromised almost one third of the Continental Army. After the war was pretty much lost in the north these rednecks whiped the British in the south. (Try googleing "1780 rebellion" and see for yourself) So thanks for noticing, I am indeed a redneck.

Next lesson: I'll let you know where the words "hillbilly" and "cracker" come from.

The Bait That Couldn't Be Refused...
"The Path to 9/11" apparently is a piece of bait the Clintonites couldn't refuse. Clinton's high profile dive into unseemly censorship raises his visibility before an election. This can hardly be helpful to the Democrats. All Bill Clinton is doing is reminding everyone why we work so very hard to forget all that he did... and failed to do... What a profound mistake he is making; it will backfire on his party! How did Karl Rove gain control of ABC Entertainment?

The GOP House deserves a kick
The GOP House deserves a kick in the rear with both hooves for pandering to the PAWS crowd. There may come a day in this country when a slab of horse meat will be welcome nutrition. Why is it the business of government to dictate what people eat? It's time to start looking seriously at the Libertarian alternative.

Sorry, just realized you were a Canadian....well then, you won't be voting. Thank God for small favors. I realize we Americans are constantly derided, insulted, sneered at, cursed, etc, etc, by the "world", Canada on the top of the list, and I am so very over it.
Why is it that people of other countries take such liberties to slam us at every turn. Amazing how we have such a huge problem keeping them from trying to enter our borders.

Dems wanting to re-write history
From all the comments on the news lately, it seems to me that this ABC docu-drama sticks to facts known from the 9/11 Report, and interviews with people who were there -- no matter which administration they were part of. The problem is that the Democrats want to re-write history, and not have Americans remember how many terrorist attacks there were when they were in charge. The Clintons, especially, want history recorded through THEIR eyes, putting them in the most favorable light -- "My Life", and Hillery's
"Living History" are perfect examples of whitewashing their records -- in their own words.
Wasn't that a typical Stalinist tactic -- to change history in the USSR to put Russia in the best light??? WAKE UP, AMERICA -- DEMOCRATS TODAY ARE SOCIALISTS WHO WANT TO REWRITE HISTORY JUST LIKE THE COMMUNISTS!!!

Lydia: Jackasses?
They are jackasses. Of course, they'll pass protectionist laws to cover their own butts.

LOL

Caruk Cate
Give me a break....whether Michael Moore's "movie" which was nomunated as a DOCUMENTARY????? was in theatres or TV is irrelevant. Who Cares??? The point is that 99% of this garbage was lie upon lie and sliced and diced so bad, you couldn't find a morsel of truth anywhere. And sweetie, if you want to throw out the republicans, that's your vote....but once you defended Moore in anyway....you just joined the ridiculous do-nothing, crazed, self absorbed, selfish left and frankly, I really don't want a lecture from you.

Path to 9/11
Rather than engage in who said what and when, or whether the movie accurately portrays quotes, why not just place the "quotes" into the context of what happened in the world during the Clinton Administration! Let the facts dictate their accuracy. Just think about the 1st World Trade Center bombing, the Khobbar Towers, the USS Cole, the 2 US embassies in Africa, the numerous "missed" opportunities to capture bin Laden, the "legal wall" erected by the Clinton Administration to prevent onfo sharing between the FBI and the CIA (equaled 9/11) as you watch the movie -- and consider the quotes in that context. Think about the fact that little was done by the Clinton Administration, and that terrorism was defined as a crime, not as warlike actions to take America donw! ABC needs to stand its ground -- no government official (present or ex) should be allowed to influence or change the content of a movie -- if allowed, what aspect of the freedom of speech will be lost next? The Clinton Administration was a bunch of bungling idiots that gave away our missile technology to China and our nuclear technology to North Korea -- all the rewriting of history in the world will not change these real facts!

Paukey
Paukey, on the one hand i hope you're right the GOP will gain seats. On the other hand, why do what the voters want if you get re-elected even when you spend for pork, ignore law breakers, and break promises. Can you think of a way to keep the GOP in for security purposes, and scare them enough to move towards conservative principles? I personally am so disgusted i will vote fringe. If the DEMs get in and screw up security, maybe more people will realize its a war we are in. But that would be a grevious price to pay.

Canuck Cate
Thank you for your farsighted and keen observations on all that is wrong in Amreican politics. We didn't know there was a problem! Since you were so helpfull in this matter, perhaps you can help me a little? I need to get a visa to come up to Canada so I can get an operation. Do you hink you could recomend a couple of good coffee shops where I can obtain some good bud to sustain me while I wait. Don't worry, I'll check my firearms at the border.

Journalism and Public Information
Being retired from a major State Law Enforcement agency, I'm familair with "Managed News". That Agency had a Public Affairs Officer [PAO] in each office, each district HQ, and in State HQ. The former governor mandated that every PAO had to "run the story by" his office before it was released.
To my opinon, "Journalists" should go back to reporting WHO IT HAPPENED TO-WHAT HAPPENED-WHERE IT HAPPENED-WHEN IT HAPPENED.
HOW IT HAPPENED and WHY IT HAPPENED should be the verified opinions of persons who work in that field, i.e., police work, attorneys, doctors, etc.
TWO things that will stop this from happening:
1. "Journalists" now have an agenda, and create news (Make up stuff) to fit their program. To quote an old attorney plan, "If you can't faze them with facts, baffle them with BS".
2. Police, firemen, and military have ZERO Free Speech. There are usually rules written into Procedures and Policy prohibiting rendering an opinion to a news agency. Failure to observe the policy will at least result in a miserable career, and at the most, termination of employment.

ABC movie
Perhaps the reason that Farenheit9/11 wasn't stopped was because it was a movie, shown in theatres, where people paid to go see it. There is a big difference between that and publicly owned airways. And there were on film attempts and some interviews of Repulicans, unlike during the making of "pathway..." Plus earlier movies of Moore's also slammed the Clinton administration. You all seem so quick to label something evil just because you don't agree with it. How come no one has disputed my comment about Richard Clarke? Comeon people, I'm not saying switch sides or partys, but what I am saying is don't be so quick and gullible to swallow ANYTHING and EVERYTHING your president says. And I mean this for both parties. Like I said there are more and more GOP leadership standing up to the WH's policies and finally some oversight is being implemented, just as your Constitution calls for. Remember, absolute power corrupts absolutely... and corruption seems to be the name of the game in washingtondc, especially for whatever party is in power. Quit with your kneejerk reactions, and think about why you feel the way you do, what has influenced you to feel that way. And as far as border security goes, how about until this issue is finally settled, the laws that are on the books get ENFORCED, and undocumented workers get called what they really are---ILLEGAL LAW BREAKING persons and deported accordingly. Both your political parties have centerists and moderates, too bad these people couldn't start a third party that would have the best of both. Listening to the left wing and right wing tunnel visioned intolerant twits rates right up there with pulling teeth. The way some people spew their hatred and vehemence, it's hard to believe your from the same country. It certainly reminds me of homegrown terrorism like OK City, Waco, Ruby Ridge, Unibomber, Freeway snipers, and here in Canada, the FLQ crisis.

On 911 - we were ALL Americans
The POINT of this movie is that BOTH administrations were and ARE incompetent or at best preoccupied with their own various agendas. Since BOTH administrations did and do have an agenda that had little to do with national security....it isn't that great a stretch to understand that Bill Clinton WAS preoccupied with impeachment - Madeleine Albright WAS preoccupied with not inflicting collateral damage on civilians or on members of a sort of desert tent country club where Osama happened to be located. BOTH sides of the spectrum need to stop and take a breath - do a reality check. Government is TOO big to DO what needs to be done, too many layers of bureaucrats, too many axes to grind, too many fiefdoms to hang onto. Perhaps both sides should stop spewing venom at each other, adopt some bit of humility and like Richard Clarke at the 911 hearings stated simply say - "your government failed you - I am sorry." Take responsibility - both sides. Stop making this about "us agin them" Hatfield/McCoy baloney - it is childish and we can't afford the luxury of giving a 100 million angry jihadis a pass so we can have partisan food fights. How's about we all stop and remember what we knew for a fact on 911....we were ALL Americans on that day.

we can believe Clinton
I don't know why anyone would question Bill Clinton's word:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=KiIP_KDQmXs

9-11
How can anyone believe the Democrat brayers of untruths in the docudrama? A convicted perjuror in Billy Jeff Clinton? A convicted thief in Hot Pants burglar Berger? A proven liar in the egomaniac disgruntled and inept Richard Clarke? He gave differing versions of events before the cameras in the Commission hearings than he did in his behind-the-scenes sworn-to testimony -- and in his book -- and in his on air TV interviews.

Clarke held himself out to be Republican, but in truth financially supported only Democrats, with the one exception being a contribution in local election to one Republican, as he later had to admit.

The docudrama was vetted by many attorneys, one of whom is on record saying that he was very impressed with the documentation supporting all that was included.

horse meat bill
As a blue grass Kentuckian, who loves to see the beautiful horses standing in the fields as I drive around the area, I have a couple of questions for lawmakers who want to ban the slaughter of horses for meat.

1. Will congress be making federal funds available for the food and accomodations for the horses that no one wants?

2. Will congress be making federal funds available to pay to euthanize and bury/cremate unwanted horses?

3. Will these congressman be willing to adopt horses that no one wants?

4. What will people who no longer want a horse do, release them in the wilds of Chevy Chase?

5. Will congress be providing an unwanted horse drop off in front of the Washington monument?

6. What is the difference between a horse and a cow? (I've seen some pretty cows)

7. With horses under their belt, maybe congress can convince the Chinese to stop eating dogs.

On a final note, one of my employees recently acquired a 2 year old horse for his daughter. It was purchased for the slaughter house price of $475. Nothing wrong with the horse, it's just that no one wanted it. It costs a lot to keep and feed a horse. And it seems to me that if the horse can be turned into meat for $475, it makes a lot more sense than killing and burying it.

And what about all those starving people in the world? If some of them want to eat horse meat, what's the problem?

Where is Osama?
Catching osama bin laden should be our country's 1st, 2nd and 3rd priority, no matter what the cost. He will attack us again. Even if he doesn't he should not be left to walk around.

Look at are Own garbage
as many Republican are waking up to and hopefully will face..Our policies and George Bush are not working, nor are they listening to Us, the American people. I hope the Dem do take one of either the house or senate. Rubbering stamping everything GW sends their way, is the wrong direction. WE see it daily, we all feel it even more so in the last 5 yrs. Our President failed to Unite this country, he had a breif opening after 9/11 and our own neo-cons took over. Bush has not fired one person for any of the mistakes that is bringing our country down. HOW could he? It's all part of his downfall. The wind is changing and I welcome a change, otherwise the Path to 9/11, is just preview of what will take place when Bush & Cheney are out of office. The stories and film of their mistakes is on Film...we just have short memories for the man we believed in. He has let the GoP down, this is why so many GOP's are not endorsing his past...they know better. So, I will not vote Republican...I want the Change in Congress..

It's correcting te facts, not censorship
And anything written by Bob Novack is laughable- given his pristine track record.

Look up the word "hypocrite" in the dictionary and you'll sure to see "conservative" under "synonyms".

Path to 9/11
I think the Donks have hurt themselves much more by their threats that just quietly allowing it to air. Did they think that we would forget all of the terrorists attacks we suffered during the 90's? If you want to see the deleted scenes, they are all over youtube. They keep saying they are editing but from what I know about how local stations work, the DVD should've arrived sometime last week as a back-up just incase the satellite went down, so any major edit would be too late.

Does anyone remember this much uproar when Michael Moore's F 9/11 came out? He actually called his 100% fiction a documentary. This is being called a docudrama even though 98% of it is from the 9/11 commission report. How hypocritical is that? I guess freedom of speech is only allowed after approval from the Donks? It's too bad that they controlled the media for the past 40 years and now we really get to see how they did it. Thank-God for the internet, you can't fool us anymore. The truth hurts doesn't it *~SMACK~* that's gonna leave a mark!

ABC
Please don't falter. Correct the errors but don't pull the film to protect anyone. We all deserve to hear what the problems were that caused our country (not the Dems or Repubs) from connecting the dots.

Aircraft cockpit voice recorders are used, not to find fault with the crew or controllers, but to find out what happened and fix the procedures or techniques to prevent a reoccurance of the accident/incidnt. This film if based on the 9/11 report should do the same.

Ed

treason
The thieving fascist traitor murder pig democrats think that by having scenes of the truth of their ineptitude, their deliberate hostility to the USA, removed from the movie, they can salvage their claim to power that was obtained through dishonest means (voting parrots comes to mind! dead folks voting..etc, not to mention scaring folks who count the votes, for years etc).
The American people are smarter than that. I just think the people at ABC should have the balls to stand up to them, and show the movie as scripted, and taped. That they TFTMPD's are reacting so vociferously just shows they are feeling guilty!! THEY ARE. They want power for themselves, and to continue trying to destroy the USA and give us to the UN. We must deny them their dreams.
And even a chance to sleep safely. They complain about the divisiveness in the USA- they are the ones causing it.

"docu" drama
Far as I can tell, they need to either take out scenes they've made up from scratch, or they need to fictionalise the entire thing. How does anyone benefit from the media making up things?

That said, the notion that the gov't should review ABC's licensing because of this smacks of real censorship, and whoever suggested it should have the brains to apologise.

Hah! I suggested a politician should have brains!

BrianR
Maybe congress knows the west is lost to illegal aliens and therefore the beef. So their saving the horses for their future needs.

Next...the film
Doesn't matter whether it is right or left. A film that uses 'artistic license' to put words in a real person's mouth is a propaganda film and should not be aired or should have the fiction edited out.

No wonder the RINO's are going down.
With the whole country enraged over the illegal alien problem, they choose to take up a bill concerning the slaughter of horses.

It's Time
I've allways voted Republican and will never vote for a Democrat-this year however I won't vote. The party needs to clean out the corporate deadwood and two years out should give themselves time. The dems will dump their left supporters once in so as to not jeapardize their hopes in 08'. Nothing will get done for two years (hope on a Bush veto) and it will be a good two years of squabbling about direction. Hopefully the Reagans will come back in spirit in new bodies and breath some fresh life to a reform agenda-there is a lifetime of work ahead. Reform means here-FREEDOM, Self-sufficiency, accountability, truth, offensive defense.

Where are the real news reporters?
It's amazing to see how little attention is paid to a free speech example of how a TV company should be able to show on the public airwaves. Where is all the outrage on this free speech question from our buddies at CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS?? Why aren't they asking the question of why do you not believe in the first admendment; and asking that question to Bill Clinton, the DNC and the other useless socialists from the socialist-democrats?? I find it very enlightening to the real nature of these hard news programs when their guys violate the constitution and they sit on their hands. If this had been an objection to M. Moore's piece by the RNC, then it would have been on the TV shows for the next 6 months. This is the very reason people don't watch the big 3 like they used to; they come to know what is really bad products, disguised as news.

ABC - be strong and courageous!
First, the Reagan film dealt with PERSONAL - rather than POLITICAL - issues about primarily Nancy Reagan - who could neither defend herself nor have her husband speak on her behalf. The Clintons and their henchmen are all on record -- and now want to suppress public airing of their well-documented complicity in the failure to protect America. Sandy Berger ought to be in federal prison for theft and destruction of government documents, Jamie Gorelick should never have been allowed to sit on the 9/11 Commission and thus hide her own failures, and Madeleine Albright is just incompetent. I also do not recall anyone threatening to take away CBS's licenses over the Reagan movie.

The real Clinton legacy…
lying, corruption and censorship. It appears efforts to lie and spin facts into the desired legacy isn’t going to wash with Americans who won’t forget the level of corruption the Clintons reached. They have resorted to censoring and bullying the media in the hopes that the next generation can be manipulated into carrying the false legacy forward.

cencorship
The letter sent by Harry Reid and friends is on NewsMax, in it's entirety. The second paragraph is a veiled threat to ABC's liscense. ABC is accountable to it's shareholders. They will cave. What worries me is the lack of attention to GOVERNMENT CENCORSHIP that this has generated. Where is the outrage over "Free Speech" that we hear from the left as the Times tells the whole world what our President is doing to stop terrorism? Where is the outrage? There is none from the liberals. Free speech only counts when THEY APPROVE of the content.

Happiness
Does it not just make for happiness to think that in spite of the problems Republicans have, and there are problems, that the Democrats will do things like this. As a result, they will look just as bad as Republicans by November and the normal processes of American politics will prevail.

What do I mean by that? While the country is nearly evenly split, Republicans have the sense of duty, the faith in the political process, and are responsible enough, to go to the polls, no matter what. We vote based on principle, including the principle that Americans MUST vote. Therefore, we get that little bit of advantage, which is very good for the country.

Novak's article
Let's talk about the horses for a minute.
I am an equestrian and have been all my life. I love horses and even own 2 Kiger Mustangs which are absolutely the best horses I've ever been around in 47 years. This bill, sponsored by 2 republicans is such an anti-republican, anti-big governmant bill if there ever was one. Are the rest of you conservatives aware of the millions of dollars we are spending to protect theese feral horses? I live in a major cattle producing area of the country and over the last few years more and more ranchers are giving up raisiing calves and are now maintaining lare herds of feral mustangs which our govt. is paying them to keep. Why is that? I'll tell you. It is because they can make MUCH more money babysitting government subsidized horse-sitting. Is the GOP doing this to court the left wing vote? I don't have the answer. This is one conservative Independant who is still going to vote against the dems/liberals, but we have to do something to turn the GOP around. By the way, most horses who are sold for human consumption go to our leftist "allies" in Canada and France.

BUSH, MEDIA AND THE DEMOCRATIC
Party should be ashamed of themselves for using/calling this coming Monday an anniversary of the destruction and lose of life that happened September 11, 2001. The Dumocrats are crying in their beer to just about anyone who will listen because of their fear of how the American public, also known as voters, will be reminded of the total ineptness of the Democratic party when it comes to national security. How President Bush pulls off his promise not to use his air time Monday night as a political forum will be interesting to see. Perhaps the President will for the very first time show us all film of an actual aircraft hitting the Pentagon and finally give us all an explanation of how an aircraft was allowed to enter restricted airspace above the capitol without a single fighter jet being deployed to investigate? Doesn't it seem a little more than amazing of how the government so far has been able to skate around the missing plane controversy for all this time? The best part of the whole night will be listening to the Democratic response to the Presidents message. Any bet that they end up looking like a bunch of cry babies, and in usual form, have nothing of substance to offer the American public? One topic that the Democrats can always boast about could be to talk about the success that their party has had in Massachusetts and California when it comes to supporting gay marriage, and now as a result of their support of the issue young innocent children are forced to attend public school system's that openly promotes and encourages the gay life style. And what's with ABC showing a documentary that is slanted towards the right? Visit http://www.headsneedtoroll.org and post your views and opinions.
Heads Need To Roll

To the real issue
The notion that real Americans would turn over our Nations Security to a party that is satiated with people who routinley give aid and comfort to the enemy, is nothing short of lunacy. That is why Americans will come out in record number to vote Republican, despite their disagreement with the Administration and the Senate over the bills to give the criminals invading our borders, amnesty, and a continued free ride on welfare. The democrat Party leaders support open borders and amnesty. That is enough to defeat them and retain the house with a net gain,I predict, of at least 10 in the house. Illegal Immigration is the number #1 issue in the country.Dewine and Burns will retain their seats. Dewine's opponent, Brown, is the most extreme lefist in the Country. Ohioians will not vote for him. Finally, the Democrats has sealed their fate with the censure of the 9-11 movie, support for Illegal Aliens invading our country, accusing our Troops of torture while demanding the terriorist be given our constitutional rights and insisting that US troops be tryed for war crimes. The Senate republicans will retain the majority with a net gain of at least 3 Senate seats.

Bowling for 911
Let me understand: The socialist-democrats are incensed that a docu-drama (fictionalized account of real events) portrays Clinton in a less than flattering light, so they want it censored so that the fiction will present a truer story? (On their terms, of course!)

The definition of fiction is that it's, well . . .fiction, not necessarily factual in nature.

Not only do we have a War on Islamofascism, but now the War on Propaganda is flaring up.

Funny, the Democrats weren't concerned
...about the accuracy of "Farenheit:911" or "Bowling for Columbine," which largely employ the same sort of tactics used in "The Path to 9/11."

Nor do they seem to be exercised about that flick premiering in Canada on Monday, in which the assassination of GWB is depicted and its after-effects debated.

So, it is not genuinely a matter of principle with these people, unless you count "regaining our power" as a principle.

Does anybody other than me...
... find it ironic that the Congress can slam through legislation to prevent horsemeat from being sold overseas as food, but can't pass legislation to seal our borders?

ABC movie
I'm going to throw one name into the foray, a person who has gone on record critisizing the distortions of this movie. Before Richard Clarke was asked to stay on and serve under the Clinton administration, he served for 12 years under Reagan and Bush41. Let's all remember that he quit the Bush43 administration because he could not go along with the policies and practices of the Administration. Hardly a leftie whiner. And I sure would like to see more comments from open minded GOPers like Horndog. radical, overthetop comments from either side do nothing to increase the level of realistic and intelligent debate your country is in dire need of. Also, Bush43 has been able to operate without much oversight. That has been changing since the higher ups in the House and Senate have begun and SCOTUS, thankfully to rein him in. Clinton was up against a hungry GOP house that unfortunately squashed alot of his counterterrorist efforts. I remember the uproar over his planned bombing attacks, the GOP portrayed them as trying to distract from his ridiculous and stupid private life mistakes. Much like Bush is getting accused of doing, except it isn' his personal life he's trying to distract from. Come all you GOPers, suck it up and realize that you need to focus on 2008, your senate and house leaders for the most part see the writing on the wall and if you want to have any chance of holding onto the white house, look to those leaders who aren't so devisive and kow-towing to the BASE. And for God and country's sake, donot go along with what Novak said last week and have Jeb Bush on the ticket as VP. Bush fatigue will kill any chance of keeping the WH in GOP hands.

Speaker Pelosi?
These Dems sure are confident, huh? It will be pretty funny after elction day to see how they react to still being in the minority. Maybe they should get out of their Beltway Bubble and take the real mood of the country into account, instead of their internal polling and the polling of their media masters. If they did that they might find that dissatisfaction with the GOP does not neccesarily translate to support of the Dems. There is plenty of voter frustration to go around!

What's Good For The Goose is Good for
What's good for the goose is good for the gander. It really never made much sense to me, every single time those democrats step into the manure, they stand before the public and {whine} and cry, themselves into such a pitiful state, then they wipe their tears up and act as if they are righteous, like standing before God himself, once they feel better about themselves, they are convinced or should I say they have convinved their followers that they had to do it, or better yet the republicians made them do it. They go on as if it never took place, the indiscreation that is. What they don't realize is by fighting so vigorously about Clinton's non-sexual relationship with the Weapons of Mass destrution M.s. oh I menat M.L. They just bring to my mind and probably many others visions of G-strings and white owl cigars. Now we are left with this feeling that watching the 911 film that somehow or somethings been left out but forever the image remains in our minds. white owls, g-strings, roses and a platonic affair, and never any wepons of mass destruction, only M.L.

Now we know
what Sandy Berger feloniously destroyed from the National Archives ... what he fondly believes is the only evidence that the ABC dramatization was essentially right on the mark.

Mr. Berger, if you still read books, go look up "The Tell-Tale Heart."

And remember the words from Proverbs: "The guilty flee where no man pursues."

We know the truth. You can't hide ALL the evidence. At a time of their choosing, the evidence you think you destroyed will re-appear.

9/11 and ABC
While I'd probably be the last person on earth to give Slick Willie some water if he was on fire or dyin' of thirst, I can see why the bed-wetting libs have their panties in a wad over the airing of "The Path to 9/11." And that is if, in fact, you're using real people in a docu-drama, the words that a given person utters should be, as close as possible to the actual spoken words according to the record. In this case, the democrat partisan weenie, Richard BenVeniste, member of the 9/11 Commission, has stated unequivocally that neither Sandy Berger or Madalaine Albright's behavior or words are consistent with the record as reflected in the Commission's report. Regretfully, he may have a point.

It's no surprise...
that ABC rolled over for the left.

Does Clinton or anyone else on the censorous left actually believe that we have somehow forgotten what a waste his eight years were?

Abramoff is
old news. That's the problem with news these days. It's like the hit song that gets over played. It's interesting the first 400 times, but then it suddenly becomes tiresome and grating.
