Is It a Bad Dream?

Poll
Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

This is becoming a bad dream for growing numbers of Americans. Some sense it may be a nightmare.

Democrats must be worried. All the talk about the demise of the Republican brand should have them elated.

Yet they watch as citizens gather to oppose record levels of government spending and deficits by our Democratic president. They watch as our Democratic president changes Cuba policy – which many Americans find acceptable if limited - but he offers a smile and a handshake to Venezuela's Chavez, a dictator who insulted Obama’s predecessor and called for the demise of America.

Democrats watch as President Obama holds their mantle high and stoops to the lowest lows aiming for applause by insulting those among us whom we've deemed Special-Olympians.

At present, Mr. “Obama enjoys a 66% approval rating” according to the Rasmussen poll. That’s significant. But the same poll now finds that the “ruling Democrats are preferred over Republicans on the top issue of the economy by just a three-point margin, 45% to 42%, the closest the two parties have been since well before last November’s election. And that “Republicans have moved further ahead on the issues of national security and taxes and have come on strong on immigration and Social Security”.

That too is significant. Especially since the polls have yet to measure and report public reaction to President Obama’s insensitive comments about Special Olympians; his ‘bow’ to the Saudi Arabia King; and his, perhaps, too-friendly interaction with Venezuela strongman Chavez.

On the Tonight Show, Obama was asked by host Jay Leno:

“Now, are they going to put a basketball -- I imagine the bowling alley has been just burned and closed down”.

THE PRESIDENT: “No, no. I have been practicing all -- (laughter.)

LENO: Really? Really?

THE PRESIDENT: I bowled a 129. (Laughter and applause.)

LENO: No, that's very good. Yes. That's very good, Mr. President.

THE PRESIDENT: It's like -- it was like Special Olympics, or something. (Laughter.)

LENO: No, that's very good.

THE PRESIDENT: No, listen, I'm making progress on the bowling, yes. Continued...

Distraction Politics?
I suspect that Obama intends far worse for us than bowing before foreign tyrants.

That Cap & Trade will cripple the economy and drive unemployment toward 20% is understood -- even relished -- by the President and his thug left supporters. They figure the worse things are, the more Americans will call for a strongman -- a hard handed ruler -- who will force things (people?) to be right.

That nationalized healthcare will make medical care less accessible and more expensive is a given which even the Left understands. But God! Think of the opportunities for graft and corruption once we've got control of roughly two trillion dollars worth of the economy! And Liberalism is about nothing if it's not about stealing your neighbor's bank account.

Now if we can just bring forth a youth service corps. Since liberal Democrats dislike white collar types, and are increasingly disliked by blue collar types, we'll have to organize this private army -- this mob addicted to a cult of personality -- around some other color. Perhaps we can call them the Brown Shirts.

Kleptocratic and power-hungry demagogues have instituted these policies many times around the world and throughout history. Those policies have led time and again to the grinding poverty and harsh dictatorships we see across Latin America, across Africa, and up through the Middle East & Central Europe.

It's possible that Obama's snuggling up to every lying butcher he can find simply arises from a sense of pleasant kinship he feels for them. But more immediately, those symbolic outrages are useful for distracting us from the very substantial real damage he and the Congress are presently and intentionally doing to our society.

Why do they call them Liberal Democrats when they so obviously despise both liberty and democracy?

Right on, Diane
Yes, I think we do have a usurper in the Oval Office. Why would a man spend upwards of a million dollars on lawyers to keep people from seeing his birth certificate, his college records, etc.? He is hiding the truth. Shame on the media for not pressing Obama on this. We know where they stand, and that is not on the side of the rule of law contained in the Constitution. The founders put in the natural born provision because they knew the dangers of someone with divided loyalties poses in the Oval Office. This country needs to change direction, and soon.
