Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

So the general election has begun. Oh sure, Hillary hasn’t formally dropped out yet and neither party has had their convention yet. But last night John McCain and Barack Obama made it clear that they have switched their attention towards each other.

Obama claimed the mantle of the Democratic nomination, which he had secured not by primary votes alone but by the special party elders, known as superdelegates, and took time to accuse McCain of running for the third term of President Bush. McCain, speaking before Obama, pointed out that despite Obama’s constant mantra of change, and obvious rhetorical skills, he mostly offers standard liberal big government solutions not real change.

It is a truism that the candidate who can define his opponent generally has the upper hand. Yet, it remains true today and both candidates have already begun that battle.

Obama’s unique persona and talents will have to be countered with a laser focus on his leftist views and radical history. If the race comes down to speaking ability, or likeability, Obama will win.

No amount of charm, however, will change the fact that Obama is the most liberal candidate for president in a generation. He is a committed leftist with historical ties to radical organizations and parties. He offers nothing but the failed big government solutions of the past dressed up with fancy words and vague symbolism. This is the battle that must be engaged.

Obama makes a lot of promises. He promises universal health care where everyone has coverage whatever the circumstances and yet costs go down. But it doesn’t take an economist to figure out that this is an expensive project and no amount of technology can magically give people free health care. Someone will have to pay more. Michelle Obama admitted as much, remarking on the campaign trail:

“The truth is, in order to get things like universal health care and a revamped education system, then someone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so that someone else can have more.”

Take a wild guess who that someone is going to be. If you said American taxpayers you guessed right. Obama, like all Democrats, promises to only raise taxes on the “rich.” But once the reality of the budget – including all the new spending he proposes – hits, it is amazing how flexible that term can become.

Obama campaigns against free trade and for more union power as if those positions will lead to higher paying jobs. I am sure passing a card check bill that takes away the right to a secret ballot, and is favored by the big labor unions, will help a few of Obama’s supporters in their high paying jobs but for everyone else it will simply stifle the economy and restrict the rights of workers and companies.

Without the onerous restrictions of big government regulations and the inflexibility of union power, American companies can compete anywhere in the world and their doing so means economic growth. But Obama wants to tell companies where and how they can run their businesses. He wants to restrict trade in order to protect his union supporters. But a middle class built on union power is a vision from the past not the future.

Obama’s leftist positions should come as no surprise. After all, Obama sought the support of the far left New Party when he ran for state senate in Illinois. This is a party who felt the Democrats were not liberal enough and was organized by a collection of Marxist/socialists seeking government control of the economy. Obama has a clear history of working with these leftist groups in Chicago, and steering money and power their way.

The question of this election is whether the American people are going to mistake Obama’s charm and charisma for real leadership and effective solutions; if they are going to ignore his troubling past because he gives a good speech and looks good on TV; if they are going to fall for the promise of a government who can give them everything.

To Americans who are tempted to be taken in by the smooth talking snake oil salesmen, I say beware. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. The promise of big government often sounds good, but it always ends in broken promises and higher taxes. As the saying goes, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Remember that next time such eloquently promises are given to change the world.

Listen to what Obama says
and how often he says it and in different ways. He is obsessed with solving poverty which is a good thing. However, he wants to do it with the money of the working voters and he wants to do it around the world as well as in our country. Even his definition of a good nominee for the supreme court has to do with having a good heart and the right feelings.

I don't know if he is a marxist but I do know from the company he keeps, he is angry at America and far from seeing it as imperfect, he wants to remake it according to his own and other radicals views. He is telling us this not just in words but in associations and in what he isn't saying.

A dilemma is that voters cannot be sure of his words because even those change when it is politically expediant for them to change. We have ample evidence of that in how he has dealt with the church and the Rev. Wright problem as well as Israel etc.

Curious
as to why I see NO major headlines on Townhall about the Calif. Supreme Court's decision NOT to grant a STAY to petitoner's asking that the gay marriage ruling be delayed until Novemeber?

The Supreme Court essentially blew (no pun intended) them off. Thus, gay marriages will be legal starting June 17. This is going to create a constitutional nightmare due to the Full Faith Clause. Other states that have amendments AGAINST such marriages are NOW going to have to defend their own laws. This should be a no-brainer however, as the Ca. Supreme Court's ruling is just an "interpretation" of ONE particular case.

Nowhere in the law of the land does it state that a "court ruling" becomes legislated law. Legislatures have this function. The Supreme Court's decision simply needs to be ignored or NOT enforced by the Executive Branch (Arnie), thereby rendering the Supreme Court's decision meaningless (except for the original plaintiff).

Anne
Read Lambro's column today. My points do not differentiate Democrats and Republicans on spending. They simply recognize that there are two actual parties. We have the DemPubs, which constitue about 75% of the congress, and we have the conservatives, who constitute the other 25%. The DemPubs consist of 90% of those currently called Democrats, and 50% or so of those currently called Republicans. They are identical in every principal way. You cannot differntiate one DemPub from another. I could care less who spends that dollar. The DemPubs are simply spending far too many dollars, and until I have a choice for someone other than a DemPub, nothing will change. Just look at the votes, Anne. Bill after bill. It always the same. 33 GOP Senators voted for the Farm Bill. A similar number voted for the pork packed Supplemental War bill. For 8 years, they've lined up repeatedly with the Dems on all the major spending legislation.

They did it when they had control of the house and senate, and they do it when they don't. You have some valid arguments on other points, but you don't on spending.

Republicans made the tar
Repeat after me "President Obama." Republicans can call accurately label Dems "Marxists." Dems ARE addicted to class warfare. However, Republicans were given a chance. They squandered it. Will it be 40 years of wondering or forty years of wandering? The Social Security and Medicare crisis will hit sooner rather than later and we're doomed. We drifted slowly but surely away from the principles of the Constitution. Too frequently Republicans helped paddle.

Promises!
I thought that is what candidates were suppose to do to get your vote.

Heatseeker - great examples
Except flawed. Republicans spend money (our tax $) on themselves to make war. Oh, and don't forget "reconstruction" in Iraq. All those great projects like the buildings that leak sewer and bridges that cost 10x what the Iraqis could have done it for. But there was money to be made, fine entrepreneurs receiving no-bid contracts from the government. That's capitalism. And they cut taxes (on the rich) like Ray-gun, who also simultaneously nearly doubled the Social security withholding AND started the practice of "borrowing" the Social Security Trust and plowing it right into the Federal Deficit that balloons, everytime one of them enters the office.

Just look at the record of mismanagement.

And an about protecting us. History is very clear, there was no real threat from Sadaam, Osama isn't even charged with a crime for, or, as a matter of fact of, having anything to do with 9-11 and the previous monster the EVIL EMPIRE, could never have posed a threat to us, because we always had at least a 2:1 nuclear superiority. It was all lies to make us pour money into Republican pockets. James Forestall created the boogey-man and died stark raving mad from paranoia.

Oh, sure let's have another Repuker for president, the middle-class still has two or three representatives. We need to drive them into poverty, so the super-rich can build more mansions. The poor can work as servants, that's called trickled down.

Democrat Results
Forty years of Dem. congresses gave us Big government. I hope Lyndon Johnson meant well with the Great Society, but if so, things went awry. We are now getting into the 4th generation of welfare clingers. Paying women when they have children at 15 as long as no father is visible has hastened the death of traditional families. We kids and mine all learned to work early--and they all do. Not so in the general public. Ask anyone trying to hire help. They don't know the value of work and don't want to learn. One gentleman I know says he knows within 3 days whether they are going to be willing to learn--and lets 3 out of 4 go by the 3rd day. Ever wonder why jobs are moving out of the country? Sad----but people who work are paying for those who won't. I do not include those who can't. That is where the welfare should go.

I think
if Obam gets elected I'm going to see if the Army will take back a 58 year old vet thats been out for 34 years. It will be the safest place to be. He's already said he wants to pull all the troops out of the middle east and he hasn't the stones to actually attack anyone so I should be real safe. I mean it's going to be pure h ll on the streets if something happens to him and with HRC as his veep it could happen. This is HRC we're talking about. One already conveniently commited suicide. Dead men tell no tales and all that. I think I can still march..........

oldsocialworker...

"Equality" for a Marxist means...

Some Pigs are More Special than Others.

Some Pigs will share nothing, and a few others will share what is not nothing, Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?

Marxism is so easy to understand, eh?

People need to keep in mind ...
that we get more of what is subsidized. That statement certainly did not start with me, but the ample proof we have of its truth goes completely ignored by guys like Obama and his followers (and he attracts ONLY followers).

At a NJ state meeting today, much discussion was had about the facts that parents have the most impact on children and that where there is ample employment opportunities the teen pregnancy rate is significantly decreased. How, oh HOW, are we in government going to promote strong families and business growth??

There were many nice, well meaning people present who could not see the connection between personal value systems and parenting styles (if any), as well as lower tax rates and the atttraction of businesses (which bring jobs). When I talked about tax incentives to bring business back to formerly industrial areas, there were some who felt NO ONE should make more money than ANYONE ELSE, even the business owner. It seems many libs will see everyone in the US poor before accepting that a business owner earns (and should earn) more than his/her employees. When I pointed out the alternative, I was grateful for my age and seniority. If I had neither, I would have been fired on the spot.

The aforementioned are your average Obama lovers. Stupid goats who won't be happy until everyone has nothing equally.

Racist
Leaving a church after 20 years listening to the teachings, does not make me feel any less worried. The rants and dark side of the teachings would effect anyone. I think his wife statements proves that fact. I was suprised that kind of hate would be coming from any church. Church is to give hope and to pull together, not seperate.

Unions
RHC 'But a middle class built on union power is a vision from the past not the future.'

Don't let it happen dudes.

The unions need to reorganize and set goals, with tasks, schedules and milestones, etc. Why? Without unions uncounted American workers, all of us included, fade into the silent majority. Everyone benefits from the existence of a union of American citizens that IS HEARD.

The unions raise potent people issues daily, weekly, and...
over trade issues vehemently...
over election postures...? WOW

We sit at PCs and comment. The Unions holler and are heard. Their blogs may even be read.

Both my sons were offered the deal of living at home free if they obtained viable trade work AND completed college. 2 Electricians and 2 degrees later, they moved out.

In the 80's I negotiated a trade agreement with Taiwan. We stipulated use of a number of our staff, sending them from US to Taiwan at Taiwan's cost. We had to negotiate travel, relocation and tax compensation. But it was all covered under one agreement for multiple projects. I did the same with Canada, Saudia Arabia, South Korea, and Mexico.

My sons asked me what the issue would be with setting up subsidiary unions for work under trade agreements. If some training for new equipment,e.g.boards,circuits,meters is needed make it a requirement of the agreement to employ US staff.

Actually, why not?

Obama as President
Having a Dem as C in C is never good prospect. They have no stomach for defending the interests of the U.S. and less for defending our allies. But having a marxist like Obama can really screw things up domestically as well. While I am not thrilled about McCain, I am going to do what a lot of Republicans are going to do. Vote against Obama by voting for McCain.

An awful lot of lib doofus...
invade Townhall. All the better, as it's more entertaining that way. Keep a look out for Kimberly. She's like the child on Halloween night that randomly picks a house, throws eggs at it, and runs away.

Well, watch out for "Evie"... Bless her!

Used to be a "lefty" but has sons serving in Iraq (all multiple volunteer tours) so she's getting first had info on what the MSM is showing.

Evie is no longer a lefty!

I can HARDLY WAIT for Evie and hal doofus to "meet up." Odds are, 2-1 Evie will make burnt toast out of the doofus! (Oh, and I'm bettin' she'll make mince meat out of doofus' friend, 'robert.")

Love u too Anne ;)
Keep pounding those libs, (maybe we can save a few of them) and thanks for the tip on Lyle Rossiter, great stuff!

renny: "Obama makes Kerry and Gore look
like Moses and Ghandi."

Pretty amazing, isn't it.... but it's true!

Heat Seeker; LOL I love you! LOL

"For most of our liberal brethren, their minds are like cement........VERY well mixed and set."

And, while I'm not sure, I suspect the "VERY well mixed" part comes from all the spinning they do. I'm just sayin'!

Obama is a 19th C. socialist/Marxist
Obama does not like business (calls it corporate corruption), does not like American symbols (the whole bit over a flag pin that cost him nothing to wear and not saluting the flag), feels resentful for both his origins and his success (count the times he mentions *typcial white people* in his books), and is so inexperienced and naive that people would be truly nuts to vote him into office.

Weak pres.' like Carter bring bad times: recession, high interest, bad inflation, national humiliation. And Carter HAD BEEN A GOVERNOR AND ATTENDED ANNAPOLIS AND SERVED IN THE NAVY.

My dog has as good as credentials as Obama to be commander in chief. We're in a war, like it or not, and need a war leader to conclude and make sure Americans at home are not in danger in the process.

Alexander the Great's father Philp II was not the direct heir to the Macedonian throne. His infant nephew Amyntas was, but when Philip usurped the kingship, the people accepted him as he was an adult and proven general.

Obama is a child in politics. What record he has is for all taxes all the time, legislation for favored groups, elitism that denigrates the average American (the bitter one hugging his/her gun and Bible), and lack of appeal to all but a narrow coaliton of students, blacks, academics/press.

His entire tenure as a politician has been nurtured by radicals: Weatherpeople (Ayers and Dohrn) gave him his first fundraiser, his church and former mininster have preached hatred and racism for decades, crooks helped him buy his house (Tony Rezkjo just convicted of corruption in Chicago, an oxymoron), and his books are loaded with anti-white American drivel.

Whadda a joke the Dems. have produced this time. Obama makes Kerry and Gore look like Moses and Ghandi.

Anne...
When Republicans spend money to, oh I don't know, let me randomly think of something.....um, let's go with - to defend the country against Islamic murderers (just as an example) Democrats think that's BAD.
When Republicans cut taxes to give back to its citizens billions of dollars (just as another random example) Democrats also see that as BAD.
I suppose I could list a few more things, but like I said before, it's pointless. For most of our liberal brethren, their minds are like cement........VERY well mixed and set.

Redlac: Why is it that when a Republican
spends money, it's TERRIBLE... just awful... irresponsible?

But when a demo spends it, it's ONLY a few BILLION, no big deal?

Redlac: SO WHAT? Even if it is only $70B
a year, it's got to come from SOMEWHERE, and that somewhere is MY PAY CHECK!

And this is for the UN for Pete's sake...

Have you paid any attention at all.. even a little... about Bozo's other ideas that are going to cost us all a lot of money???

My point still stands!

"YOU think Pres. Bush spent a few dollars? You haven't begun to see big government spending if Bozo gets elected!"

Oh, and btw, you might want to spend a few minutes of your time reading Carlos' posts. He's got some pretty good information!

Berniebag
yeh those dumb farmers you know how it is. But then they were the ones that made it better than most during the depression. Kinda makes you wonder who is so dumb doesn't it? And they were the ones not asking for the handouts!

Anne
That $845 billion over 13 years is what, about $70 B a year? That's 1/2 or less of the cost of Cap N Trade - you know - McCain and the GOP's grand program to reduce carbon. And, by the way, what's this crazy nonsense? Can you dispute the GOP's track record? So tell me. Since the GOP carried most of the heavy lumber for the largest increase in spending in the shortest cycle in our history, just what is it I'm supposed to feel so warm and fuzzy about in voting for them. You say the Dems are bad. Of course they are. But the GOP one upped them. Even they'd never pulled off this kind of a trick. Which is you're problem. So, you want me to do what? Vote for the people with the recent track record for breaking all the spending records? Or are you just ignoring the issue because even you, even now, can't quite believe that they'd really do what they actually did?

Carlos: You're absolutely right...

but that's only the beginning...

Scary, isn't it?

Universal "Catholic" Health Care?

Do Atheist Liberals Realize...

The Catholic Church will be the largest single provider of Health Care under a Socialist System.
The same Church the Liberals love to hate, will be the main Church charged with making all medical decisions.

And do Catholics Realize...

Your hospitals "WILL" be providing abortions to Obama's daughters!

Catch 22?

Anne, you'll love to read
"The Last Centurion" coming out in August. Farmer data and insights extroidinaire!

eastlake joe
"I noticed you conveniently skipped over the 26 year lods real quick!"

I made no comment because more information is needed. His website shows that there are options for coverage but the options are not printed. I assume dependent children "enrolled in institutions of higher learning" can be covered up to age 25 but it is an assumption. If this is the case, I have no problem with it.

"Oh, I had just gotten married to the same woman I'm married to now. Another thing the dems don't seem to understand. Especially in NYC."

McCain didn't stay married to the same woman so I guess he doesn't understand either.

Even The One In The R Jersey
McCain's good intentions towards illegal aliens will cost us our country.

berniebag: Yeah well, it's about those

"dumb farmers" who are usually smarter, and often have more wisdom than most!

Funny, I heard pretty much the same thing from my father! Except my father's version was..

A Republican will see a homeless person, feel bad for him, and help him get a job!

A democrat will see.... same as your father said!

And here's another thing about "compassion."

Compassion is when you give YOUR OWN money, NOT when the gov't. takes your money and gives it way.

Universal (Socialist) Health Care...

Before you vote... Ask yourself...

*Would you allow Government Physicians to decide whether or not it is financially feasible to continue your treatment plan?
*Have you ever listened in, or know anyone who has listened in, on a group of Doctors making a decision regarding discontinuation of life-support?
*Do you realize that Euthanasia (by different names) is a very common practice in most, if not all, hospitals?
*Did you know Obama's plan includes "mandatory" testing, vaccines, annual physicals, and dozens of other screenings. And further, might you wonder what happens to "your" treatment plan after "mandatory" medicine uses up all the money?
*Did you know that Canadians have a shorter waiting-period for abortion than they do for life-saving Heart surgeries?

The difference between libs and conser..
My father always told me that the difference between democrats and republicans was:

A republican will see a homeless person and feel bad for them and decide to give them some money.

A democrat will see a homeless person and feel bad for them a decide to give them someone elses money!!!!

But what did he know he was just a dumb farmer according to the dems!!!

Redlac: Are you crazy???
Do you have a clue as to what Bozo has planned?

How about this for starters!

Obama's "Global Poverty Act" (S.2433) The legislation would commit the U.S. to spending 0.7 percent of gross national product on foreign aid, which amounts to a phenomenal 13-year total of $845 billion over and above what the U.S. already spends.

And YOU think Pres. Bush spent a few dollars? You haven't begun to see big government spending!

Anne
Sorry I didn't answer you last night as I got called away. I can't believe ole' drunken Hal sticks around. That 15.00 an hour from ole' Soreass must come in REAL handy for booze.

Lionheart
I noticed you conveniently skipped over the 26 year lods real quick! That was straight from BOTH of your liberal heroes.(I call HRC hero as she's close enough to male) They both wanted to pass a childs healthcare act that covered 26 year old "children". At 26 I was 2 years out of the army having fought in Viet Nam and working. Oh, I had just gotten married to the same woman I'm married to now. Another thing the dems don't seem to understand. Especially in NYC.

Akagi
A few mild corrections.

Initially, No Child Left Behind was Bush's baby - and it was passed by the GOP that controlled the house and senate at the time. Same with the drug act. The GOP's in trouble precisely because it imitated the Democrats. Between 2000 and 2009, the budget grew 80% from $1.88 trillion to $3.25 trillion. Biggest increase in history - and some of you want me to be afraid on the Democrats, yet the GOP had the power for 6 of those 8 years. And then you have the price of oil. Would someone please get down off their podium? 40% of the price is related to a dollar that has lost 40% of it's purchasing power in a few years. If it could still buy 1 Euro, you'd be paying $80 a barrel, not $125 or $130. The balance of payments deficit was $100 B in 97 and never rose above that prior. In 2003 it was $500 B, and in 2007 and 2008 it was $800 B. The Fed's interest policies and federal debt have driven the dollar down, as federal debt has averaged in excess of $500 B every year for the last 8 years. And the GOP controlled the Congress for 6 of those years - and wrote the 2007 budget as well. Cut the nonesense folks. The GOP is in every bit as deep and it is every bit as socialistic as the democrats. If they were still in power, you'd already have socialized medicine. After all, that's what 65% of the people polled recently said they wanted. And that's all the GOP cared about. No wonder the public doesn't know who to trust anymore. You have McCain saying he doesn't know much about the economy, and the saying the deficit should be ignored because the economy is so fragile. And then, we get his magficent cap and trade boondoggle. He's making promises - Obama's making promises - and we're broke. Should work really well.

Anne you're so Right !
"So, how's that public school system working? Just exactly the way the liberals have wanted it to work... No one knows what Marxism is."
--------------------------------------
My daughter had to ask some things on the way home from Junior High today. She wondered why the school has cameras in the halls and cafeteria? And further wondered, if "They" have cameras in those areas, why not have them in the classrooms too?

I had to tell her how it is... There are no cameras in the classrooms, because that's where "They" are.

She understood.

to hell....
After hearing the incompetent McCain....We are all going to hell....We have no choice for president....McCzain is a joke.

I'm just going to quit
Atlas is shrugging. I can vote for my dinner, my health care, and before long probably my "free" gasoline. Why should I keep working?

All the Socialists have yet to promise is "free beer". Once they promise me that, I'm in!

Of course, by then, my "free" health care will decide they won't cover liver transplants. Some dude in D.C. will declare it, and it will be law.

How does this differ from a Monarchy, or a Dictator? Rule by whim and declaration? Sorry, MY Constitution allows me to move to a new state if the one I'm in becomes too intrusive. Whither Freedom?

Heat Seeker: Evan Sayet.. forgot about

him. Bright and articulate... I'll check him out now.

You also might want to check out Lyle Rossiter... he's written a few good columns right here on TH, and has a new book out about just how and why the libs are clinically "nuts."

Democrats... yech.
Democrats haven't been Democrats since November of 1963... or since Truman, take your pick. The DPUSA has been nothing but a socialist party drifting for 40 years down the neo-Marxist river. Phooey on them all, they are a party of traitors. A yellow dog is just a damned fool who cannot think.

DerKrieger: Man, are you gonna get it!

I've been saying that Bozo Hussein Obama (and the Mrs.) is a Marxist, and every word out of his (and the Mrs.) has been right out of the MARXIST HANDBOOK for over a year now... Actually, since I first cringed my way through his first speech!

You'll be amazed how many people have no clue, and dismiss it out of hand. And then there are the little darlings who get down-right nasty! They're always a treat!

So, how's that public school system working? Just exactly the way the liberals have wanted it to work... No one knows what Marxism is.

Excellent column! Spot ON!
Only complaint is that we're still calling it "universal health care" when in fact, it's SOCIALIZED HEALTH CARE!

We need to start calling it WHAT IT IS!

Anne, it's pointless...
...You're making sense, and nothing is more confusing to the dodo bird liberal than sense. Now if you want to know WHY the libs and Dummycrats think what they think and say what they say look up Evan Sayet on YouTube. His speech "How Modern Liberals Think" perfectly and succinctly explains this poisonous phenomenon known as liberalism.

eastlake joe
In all segments of society we will find thieves and crooks. From barrios to penthouses and from ghettos to the white house. Sure people are going to lie and cheat to get benefits. Some rich people lie all the time on their taxes and pay less than you and me. In these examples I provided, its the government's responsibility to catch and prosecute such individuals.

However, the number of these crooks that cheat for government assistance do not come close to the numbers of those who truly need assistance.

Subject: inthemajority:(#10) Cont.
**Bad standing in the world community. -- First of all, it's not as bad as you might like to think, and if what you refer to as "bad standing" is what it takes to do what you think is the right thing to do, who cares?

**Food costs soaring. -- Yeah, about the food cost thing! Again, look your Greenies/Libs/Demos and talk to them about bio-fuel. Dumbest idea since they decided we couldn't drill for more oil!

**Most corrupt presidency and administration ever. -- Well, that would depend on who you're talking to.

**Worst presidential ratings ever. -- Not as bad as the demo Congress. Remember they not only managed to get lower rating than Pres. Bush, somehow they managed to do it within weeks of the dems taking over.

**More uninsured, More underinsured. -- Since when is it the gov't's. job to insure anyone? It isn't their job, nor was it EVER!

inthemajority:(#10) Completely inaccurat
Bush's Handbasket:

**Loss of wages. -- Exactly how is that Pres. Bush's fault. Got a problem with that, don't buy the products, or use services that use off shore workers or products!

**Gas prices up. -- NEWS FLASH! This didn't happen overnight. In fact, we've been working toward this very situation for the past 38-40 YEARS... get it, YEARS, since the Greenie/Libs/Demos have stopped any and all drilling and building/refurbshing refineries.

Wanna complain about $5/gal., complain to the Greenies/Libs/Demos.

**Health care costs up. -- Exactly HOW is that Pres. Bush's fault? THIS I gotta hear!!! But if Bozo gets his SOCIALIZED health care going, you won't believe how EXPENSIVE AND POOR QUALITY it will be. (Money has got to come from someplace, and it will come right out of your pay check!)

**Environment worse. According to whom? Al Gore? Yeah, right!

**Amount owed for gov't expenses way up.. -- Okay, I'll give you that. BUT, we've had several MAJOR catastophies, starting with 9-11 (remember that?) And if you think govt.. expenses are UP NOW, wait until Bozo tries to implement HIS plans. You ain't seen nothin' yet!

What country have you been living in, Harold? The last time I checked, all prior presidents have been white males. And, since passage of the Voter's Registration Act, the same Blacks and Mexicans you refer to above helped vote them in.

Amazing!!!

Lionheart
Hate to wake you up,(as you gotta be sleeping) but the dems are already trying to call 26 year olds "children". And there are already plenty of able bodied people on the dole. Check out the court dockets in the paper from time to time. If your paper doesn't have one then you should b..ch till they do. The states are catching people faking medical problems that have been on the rolls for years. All of these programs were started by DEMS!!!

Both sides of his mouth
All the dems like to say Viet Nam (Beat us) yet now BHO says the Al Qaida are no threat because of their size. How big was North Viet Nam? Come on guys, you can't have it both ways!!!

Mindboggling
"The only ones that are going to make out from BHO are the ones that can't work and the ones that don't want to work."

This senseless paranoia appears to be the mantra of cons these days. The asinine belief that the primary political purpose of the Democratic Party (Obama, in particular)is to create a welfare state by providing higher financial benefits to able-bodied adults who do not want to be employed is unbelievable.

This ideology is just as crazy as thinking McCain and the Republican Party have plans to enact taxation policies that will 100% benefit only the richest of Americans forcing the middle and lower economic classes to be the primary funding sources for the government. Oops!! This may be a bad example.

Okay, now back on earth.
"Loss of wages."

Since when is the president responsible for what an employer pays?

"Gas prices up."

Blame that on rising demand and limited supply. Didn't Bush try to increase US supplies? Blame much of this on your environmental wacko friends.

"Health care costs up."

Yes and again you can blame much of this on the trial lawyers--who oppose any tort reform.

"Environment worse."

Actually it is better.

"Amount owed for gov't expenses way up (how's that small rebate treating you... each family owes about $30,000 for Bush's war)."

Yes Bush can be blamed here, but much of this spending was Bush signing on to Democratic spending programs like No Child Left Behind, Medicare Drug Plan, etc. Seen Obama's proposals--how much are they going to cost?

"Bad standing in the world community."

Some places yes, some no. Should you really care what France thinks?

"Food costs soaring."

Related to energy costs and the biofuels scam. Again, the environmental nuts are more responsible for this than Bush.

"Most corrupt presidency and administration ever."

Not even close. Try U.S. Grant.

"Worst presidential ratings ever."

Yes, but polls have only been used since the 1940s, so who knows how bad Grant's would have been for example.

"More uninsured, More underinsured."

Again, is this the responsibilty of the president or the Federal or any government as far as that goes?

reply to opt out:
"Let me ask you a question about health care. I ask this to every liberal and frankly I haven't gotten a response yet.

If I don't want what Obama is proposing, if I don't want his health care plan, can I opt out of it completely and keep the tax money that would go toward his plan? If not, why not? "

Under Obama's plan, yes you can opt out. It was Hillary's plan where everyone is required to be in.

The problem with opting out is this: Say you opt out of health insurance; then you have a heart attack (or other emergency situation), are rushed to the hospital via ambulance, are given appropriate care, maybe in the intensive care unit, and by the time you are discharged your medical bills exceed your net worth. By quite alot. Since in our society everyone who has a medical emergency can rely on emergency and hospital services for treatment, isn't it just and fair that everyone should pay to enable the emergency medical care be available? (Either by taxes under a single payer plan; or by private health insurance.) Otherwise, you are just freeriding on everyone else's contributions to the system. Additionally, say you are choosing to be out of the system; then are diagnosed with a treatable but expensive chronic ailment, like diabetes or epilepsy. Within a fairly short period of time, appropriate treatments will exhaust an average American's resources. Then what? America is not going to tell an insulin-dependent diabetic, too bad you don't have money, we'll pray at your funeral. Instead, in America, the government will pay for the insulin. This works best if everyone is in the system, so that the burden is evenly shared amongst all Americans.

Obama’s unique persona and talents???
A list would be appreciated if you are going to make a statement like that. I have yet to see it.

McCain will win enough swing states and that will be that. Loyal Barack supports will fawn all over him from now until the end but enough swing voters will see the light and make the difference. Plus, McCain will never be embraced by conservatives which will be an asset to him. Deceived voters don't trust conservatives and will feel more comfort with this.

Oh, and 5 stars just for the title of the article!

well-written column
First Collins states the problem:
"It is a truism that the candidate who can define his opponent generally has the upper hand. "
Then he supplies the solution, namely, that Republicans should unify around the message:
"Obama is the most liberal candidate for president in a generation. He is a committed leftist with historical ties to radical organizations and parties."

What is the truth? Does it matter? Lee Atwater taught the political establishment in 1988 that the politics of personal destruction, guilt by association, charges that sound vaguely like they might possibly true, that these tactics WORK. Winning is the only thing that matters, right?

universal healthcare
"Take a wild guess who that someone is going to be. If you said American taxpayers you guessed right."

Ok, let's see. "American taxpayers" would include pretty much everyone that works or spends money in the United States so that means pretty much everyone would be contributing towards their own and other's health care. Considering I already pay taxes that go towards socialized health care for some Americans and not others in addition to paying money for my own health insurance, I don't see the problem here. I personally don't mind paying taxes towards things that benefit me and everyone else. If you're argument is that the quality of everyone's healthcare will decrease (which I don't think necessarily needs to be the case though I do understand that fear), then that is another issue.

To "inthemajority." part 2
Let me ask you a question about health care. I ask this to every liberal and frankly I haven't gotten a response yet.

If I don't want what Obama is proposing, if I don't want his health care plan, can I opt out of it completely and keep the tax money that would go toward his plan? If not, why not?

Inthemajority
When we get hit, it will be the fault of all those pussilanimous traitors that fill the
leadership of the DemonRAT party, and it's fellow travelers, and the ratfink media. If you subscribe to the defeat of our military,
then you are agin this country. They were for it when the political pressure dictated it, and then like the turncoats they are, they lied, and lied and lied for 8 years so that they with the help of their propaganda goons in media,
got the American people wondering about it. The
fault is Bush's when it came to communicating
to the American people a la Reagan and FDR. He's not articulate but there certainly had to have been some in the administration that were capable. It's so hypocritical when the left
moan and groan about the casualties of Iraq but
it's specious since they have hated the military since the 60's. And continue to smile
as they spit on them. I have a grandson in the military and he's seen the looks he's gotten from the leftie cowards when in uniform. They haven't changed since the Kerry/Fonda days.

To "inthemajority."
Your premises are completely wrong.

Let's start with the first, Loss of Wages. Why is that the business of the Federal Government? Unemployment hasn't really gone up significcantly, and we've not yet seen numbers indicating any sort of recession whatsoever.

Gas Prices are up. Sort of shoots holes in the notion that we went into Iraq for oil, don't it? Seems to me gas prices shot way up when Democrats took over Congress.

Government Expenses? Please give me a break. When I hear a liberal whine about this it's a bit like Brer Rabbit begging not to be thrown into the Briar Patch. When Democrats do it, you're okay with it.

Bad Standing in the World Community? Only among socialists.

Food costs are soaring because of poor Democrat economic policies based on the hoax of man-made climate change.

Bush is not the most corrupt president ever. That's only your own misguided hatred speaking.

Most uninsured and underinsured, eh? Tell me, where is it written that it is the Federal Government's job to see to the health care of every single American? Why is it my fiscal responsibility to pay for your health care?! That's very fascist of you.

Harold
"We should never make a stranger our ruler. Blacks and Mexicans would never make us theirs."

Um...black and hispanic American citizens have been voting for white men for President of the United States for quite a long time.

inthemajority
Not that Bush has been a "good" president. But there are a few things to ask yourself. First, why haven't we been attacked in the 8 years that he has been in office. One of the reasons is the Patriot Act that has saved our asses on many occasions by thwarting terrorist attacks. I would say the only thing he might have done right is kept us safe from any further attacks on this country since 9/11. And if you want to bring up terrorist catastrophe, then how about 9/11? How long was Bush in office before that happened? Who was in office prior??? Obama is willing to negotiate with people that are a great threat to the world, let alone us. He dismisses dangerous leaders as being no threat because of the "size" of the country. That is so ignorant and naive! The most important issue is our safety. A good economy, health care, etc will mean nothing if we are blown to smitherines by known terrorists!!

Bush's Handbasket
Loss of wages. Gas prices up. Health care costs up. Environment worse. Amount owed for gov't expenses way up (how's that small rebate treating you... each family owes about $30,000 for Bush's war). Bad standing in the world community. Food costs soaring. Most corrupt presidency and administration ever. Worst presidential ratings ever. More uninsured, More underinsured.

Yup. That Senator Obama would be just plain wrong for the US. Let's have more of that good old Bush ego back in office. Things are going so swimmingly.

If the country is hit with another terrorist catastrophe within a year, is it the new president's fault or Bush's? If McCain is elected, does he inherit the bad economy, or is it all his fault? What about Obama... inherited or is it his fault? Make up your minds now so we understand more about the ever-changing neo-con mind.

While you are at it...
Hey, whatever it takes to keep this country from a "dangerous and deadly" change.

While you're at it....
"Duck tape all your windows!!! Dem muslims are a coming!

Buy plenty of batteries, bottled water, and medical supplies!!!

The end is near!!! Vote GOP!!!"

This American message was Americanly brought to you by Americans for John "Capt. America" McCain.

Batten down the hatches....
Life is about to get better for those that haven't made their own way in life and worked for what they have, and those of us middle class that started out as lower middle class and worked for years to move up. This elitest, Obama has no clue as to what that means and therefore will crap on us to help the lazy "havenots". Taxes are going to soar! Start preparing now....

The real Messiah is not Hell bent
The problem with BO is that he is a faux Messiah. His religion is Environmentalism and his agenda is socialist pacifism. Now that might play well in Europe but unless American voters are just emotive zombies who love to hear soaring promises that will take away their free enterprise freedoms and foreign affairs superiority given over to the Islamofascists, many will see through this guy's socialism. Another problem is that McCain will spend more time dissing the Pubs, conservatism, Bush and forget to point out that his Dem Party enemies have been socialist pacifists for nearly 55 years. John wants a nice campaign with little rancor and just a nice debate. Obama will gut him like a fish unless John wakes up to the fact that the same old liberalism Reagan defeated faces him and still hates him and all he stands for!

Fear
I see a lot of fear when talking about BHO. I see fear of loss of wages and loss of rights. I see people that are afraid that he's going to ruin our beautiful country and turn the corner twards socialism. Well this is GOOD and I hope this fear spreads like wild fire and NEVER ENDS! The truth of the matter at hand is that all these statements are true. I think there will be a lot of promises broken to get this nomination. I also think right now , there are a lot of handshakes going on in back alleys that spell a lot of trouble for the American working people, no matter how much they make. The only ones that are going to make out from BHO are the ones that can't work and the ones that don't want to work. We are going to start supporting able bodied people that don't feel it's their job to work either for them or their offspring. God help the working Americans!

Words mean something
Calling the Democrats Marxists is about as stupid as calling Republicans Nazis.

What Obama is is a social democrat--think Sweden not Lenin's USSR or Mao's China.

I have yet to see where Obama has called for ownership in the means of production, a one-party state and the eventual withering of the state.

Yes, he does favor increased taxes on people and corporations, but that is in line with a social democracy (look at the tax rates in Sweden for example), not Mao's China.

When you use words to pervert reality it undermines your arguement and hurts you own cause. The Democratic Party is not a Marxist party.

Not a chance!
I will vote for Obama if he will take all that he has and sell it and give the money to the poor. Oh - I see he's sadly walking away - he wanted to give my money away instead.

Marxists
"From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs" - Marx

"The truth is, in order to get things like universal health care and a revamped education system, then someone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so that someone else can have more." - Michelle Obama

IMO Democrats are very vulnerable on the issue of their being the new socialists rather than Democrats. The GOP needs to spend a little time and money "rebranding" the Dems as the Marxists they are. I don't think many Americans will support a socialist agenda if you strip its Dedmocrat clothes from it.
