Poll
Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

If there is one thing the Clintons know how to do, it is survive. Last night’s win in Pennsylvania allows Sen. Clinton to do just that, but it does not bring a lot of clarity to the Democratic Primary. Hillary edges close to Barack Obama’s pledged delegate lead but at a glacial pace due to the proportional allocation. Her nearly ten percent margin means she is poised to catch him in the popular vote margin.

What we have is a stalemate. He can’t seem to win decisively and she refuses to go away. He seems increasingly limited in his appeal and she can’t shake near record negatives. And the Democrats seem powerless to stop the drama and pick a winner.

The once effervescent Obama is now often tired and frustrated on the campaign trail. As questions about his relationship with controversial figures like Reverend Wright and former Weather Underground member William Ayers linger, and the media debated the impact of his infamous bitter comments, his mood seemed to sour. Obama, and his obsessive fans, acted as if he should be above such inconvenient issues. Anything that distracted from how Obama was going to unite the country was labeled as illegitimate.

The problem for Hillary is that voters seem to be turned off when she tries to take advantage of these scandals and gaffes. Exit polls revealed that two-thirds of Pennsylvania voters felt that Hillary attacked Obama unfairly. And she continues to poll very poorly on trust and honesty.

And if that wasn’t enough of a challenge her husband seems incapable of staying out of the media spotlight and reminding voters why they dislike the Clintons. This week the former president continued to insist that he had done nothing wrong in the run-up to the South Carolina primary and that the Obama campaign had played the race card on him.

In a radio interview he argued that he couldn’t have used race against Obama–after all, his office is in Harlem! And thinking he was no longer being recorded, he offered an explicative to someone would dare question him on the issue. When the next day a reporter politely tried to question him on what he meant, he angrily denied having said anything of the sort and accused the media of playing games to trap him and distract the American people from the important issues.

Bill Clinton seems incapable of realizing that his every word is going to be analyzed and recorded; instantly available around the globe. And that his arrogant narcissism is an unwanted distraction that undercuts his wife’s campaign when it is struggling to survive. But it is impossible to take the ego and drama out of the Clintons. And just when voters might to forget it, Bill pops up to remind them.

Hillary hasn’t yet come up with a coherent message – other than refusing to quit - and struggles with “message discipline.” She has spent months attempting to convince the liberal base that she is the only candidate with a definitive plan and the commitment, to bring the troops home from Iraq. But this week she seemed to return to her former persona as moderate hawk willing to use military force even when it wasn’t popular.

Having previously castigated Obama for his comments about attacking terrorist sites in Pakistan, and refusing to answer hypothetical foreign policy questions, this week she asserted that she was prepared to “obliterate” Iran should it attack Israel.

When lefty blogs denounced this as neocon warmongering and the media tried to get clarification, her campaign seemed to back off the statement and imply that she wasn’t extending the American nuclear umbrella to Israel. It is hard to believe that she has become so desperate as to callously pander on national security in the hopes of painting Obama as soft on terrorism or the defense of Israel. But it is hard to find another explanation.

It has become something of a cliché, but it remains true that the Clintons are willing to say and do whatever they feel is necessary to regain the White House. And while Obama has campaigned on “turning the page” on the old politics and bringing the country together, he seems incapable of putting the Clintons behind him and uniting his own party right now.

So the stalemate continues and the train wreck seems headed all the way to Denver unless the Democrats can figure out a way to stop it.

One thing is clear: Hillary will fight until the bitter end. That has to be keeping Howard Dean awake at night.

Mr. Collins, I believe you missed the
point on Bill Clinton. Personally, I think everyone who is knocking Bill Clinton's campaigning style are completely missing the point. Remember Bill Clinton is a political genius.

His posturing on race is designed to make the HRC-BHO contest about race and about how the blacks are over-reacting to the race issue. This is cueing the more intolerant white Dem voters to reject Obama.

Whether he refutes what he said the day before or not, remember he has the press daily emphasizing Obama's race and gets whites looking at the 15-1 support Obama is receiving from his racial compadres. If it is good for the goose, it is good for the gander. If black dems can vote based on race, maybe white dems should also. Never underestimate Bill Clinton and his political acumen. I will take his over Dick Morris or any other Dem. The only person who is in his ballpark politically is Karl Rove, another political genius.

Bill Clinton has analyzed the race to be sure. Whatever he does and says now in the media is designed to assist Hillary's campaign. People who pooh pooh his campaigning techniques are not in the same league as Bill Clinton when it comes to politics.

I totally support John McCain. I also believe HRC would be a better president for the U.S.A. than would be BHO.

Just Loving This!!
The American electorate is finally getting to see just how fractious and divisive the Dem., party actually is. Each camp, (Hill-Bama) is throwing the kitchen sink. The Dem., party strategy since at least 1980, has been: "Divide to Multiply." Find as many clumps of disgruntled, malcontents as possible, promise their particular injustice will be addressed through affiliation with the Dem., party, then do nothing for these diverse clumps, other than to keep them disgruntled and malcontented. In essence, keep as many people divided as possible in order to remain viable as a party. The hypocrisy of any Dem., stating they'll bring people together I find completely incredulous. That would be suicide for the Dems.

In Bill Clinton's mind
If he says something, anything, it is true because HE said it. The two of them have habitually lied to the point that they no longer know what truth is.

a way out for the dems
here is the answer for the dems although it is highly unlikely that they would embrace the solution. since neither candidate can secure the nomination without the "stupiddelegates" I think that the party should nominate by acclimation Al Gore. Let Obama run as the Veep which he would probably accept from gore but not from hillary. Get the village idiot Harry Reid to step down as the Senate Majority Leader for the sake of party unity and give it to HRC as her payment for quiting the race. While I am voting for McCain, the combination of Gore who came so close before (and in the dems mind really won) and Obamamania would be a match made in heaven. I think it would also be the toughest match they could put up against McCain.

I'm voting for the Wreck
Hillybam and the whole Dim Party are commiequeers, anti-American thieves, perverts and parasites. Lying, cheating traitorous and tyrannous bastids to boot.
Having said that I am still voting Hillybama over Mac the Knife because he too is a lying traitorous back stabbing bastid. Don't care if he is a war hero, for all we know the Chinese turned him. Allen Keyes is right. Mac the Knife has stabbed every Conservative in the back multiple times. Shamnesy, McFeingeld, Gang 14, No TAx Cuts, No Anwr Drilling. He will NOT get my vote.

I'd rather have Hilybama's Socialism Straight, and hope America Chokes and Pukes than McAin'ts lying, backstabbing, Socialism LIte.

I can only figure, given the Country's Great Needs and the UTTER CRAP of the three candidates that America has finally wanked itself into deserving the crap it gets.

To Mr. Collins
About that train wreck, let's at least agree on
one thing. Bill's expletive is NOT going to make
or break Hillary's election.

Find something else more worthy of the space it
takes up.

train wreck: who cares
for many of us on the right we get great delight watching the missus clinton and the oblahma bash each other. But in it's odd way it has reveiled what it is we dislike about both candidates.

We find that the oblahma besides his empty resume is nothing more than rhetoric without substance but has turned out to be a typical coastal elitist with great distain for the unwashed inhabiting the hinderlands. His loyalty to questionable persons brings into question his judgement. It seems his search for his black identity was more important than finding an american identity and thus he truly seems to lack an understanding of who makes up america outside of his elitist friends and the victim class he joined while in chicago.

The missus clinton has turned out to be more of a fighter than some imagined but still incapable of generating any message at this point that she is not the oblahma and has more experience tyo handle the job. Her supposed experience resume has been explored and has been shown to exist only in her own mind.

But let the fighting continue. Infact I hope it gets even nastier as it will show the dims to be the total hypocrites they have always been and how the devisive identity politics they have employed has come back to show they are the party that stands for nothing other than the aquisition of power over the people
