Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

A stopped clock, they say, is right twice a day. That’s a better record than some have. Take the Rev. Al Sharpton. He may get things right twice a decade.

One of those rare times occurred back in 1993. An immigrant from Jamaica named Colin Ferguson had opened fire on a commuter train, killing six people and wounding 19. Sharpton, for perhaps the first time in his life, refused to blame race. “The press jumped to make it a racial incident and to blame people like us,” Sharpton complained in 1994, “rather than to deal with the fact that [Ferguson] is a sick man.”

Set aside the fact that the press actually did very little to make it a racial incident. Sharpton’s correct that Ferguson deserves the blame for his actions. Not blacks. Not liberals. Not Jamaicans. Ferguson.

Which brings us to 2009.

On June 10, 88-year-old James von Brunn carried a rifle into the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. He shot a guard before being shot himself. Liberals insist this event helps vindicate a recent Department of Homeland Security report that warned of potential violence.

“Rightwing extremism in the United States can be broadly divided into those groups, movements, and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups), and those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely,” the report said.

Along with other events, von Brunn’s action “seems to indicate that the DHS report was actually prescient; its critics refuted,” according to the left-wing Talking Points Memo.

Cartoonist Tom Toles went even further. His June 12 cartoon in The Washington Post shows a Rush Limbaugh look-alike (helpfully labeled “Nutball media”) offering up “Today’s recipe: Domestic Terrorism.” As a hothead with an automatic weapon (helpfully labeled “gun”) seethes, the nutball explains, “You’ll only need two ingredients! Not that we’re suggesting anything.” The hothead, meanwhile, has taken the gun and left, presumably to shoot someone.

Yet this ignores the main point: von Brunn is in no way a conservative. He’s just a sad, crazy old man.

In the shooter’s car was a note that read, in part, “Obama does what his Jew owners tell him to do.” Well, where have we heard that idea lately? Hint: it isn’t a notion hatched on the right. But it’s one held by the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

The Hampton Roads Daily Press recently caught up with Obama’s former pastor. “Them Jews aren’t going to let him talk to me,” Wright told the paper. Rev. Wright is many things. But he’s no conservative.

Todd Blodgett is a former White House aide who later infiltrated supremacist groups for the FBI. He told The Washington Post that von Brunn “sometimes spoke of having fought for the wrong side in World War II.” In a book he published in 1999, von Brunn wrote that, “Adolf Hitler led Germany to an amazing spiritual and economic recovery.” Those are hardly conservative ideas.

Meanwhile, if liberals are looking to blame “root causes” for von Brunn’s attack or other recent violence, they might find the finger of blame actually points back at them.

U.S. News & World Report collected a few recent incidents. In Arkansas, a man named Abdulhakim Muhammad is accused of shooting two soldiers at an Army recruiting center recently. Muhammad was allegedly upset about the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Likewise, four Muslim men are accused of plotting to blow up planes and bomb synagogues in New York. They were reportedly angry about the deaths of Muslims “at the hands of U.S. forces,” the magazine explains.

Well, it’s the left that stridently opposed intervention in Iraq and, to a lesser extent, in Afghanistan.

Maybe these alleged criminals were hopped up after spending years listening to Randi Rhodes rail against President Bush on Air America. Maybe they were encouraged by the movie “Death of a President,” which debuted at the Toronto Film Festival in 2006 and showed Bush being assassinated. Maybe they got their ideas from reading Nicholson Baker’s novel “Checkpoint,” also about a Bush assassination.

Perhaps -- and don’t look for much coverage of this angle in your local paper -- they were even swayed by a radicalized form of Islam, that taught them it was all right to kill in the name of religion.

Nah. That idea’s too crazy to even consider. They were not -- and von Brunn was not -- acting in the service of conservative ideas, such as smaller government and individual rights.

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, and a crazy person is just a crazy person. But why allow an exploitable event go to waste, right?

What we do know.

We do know for many years Liberals have been teaching in public schools all accross the land about tolerance. Much of this to the detrament of math, english, and science classes. They have spent millions of taxpayers money promoting intolerance. They have passed laws to mandate tolerance, They have criminalize intolerant thought. They have promoted tolerance in the arts, sciences, and workplace.

We do know that according to the Urban League, Racial discrimination is worse than in the 1950's.

We do know that according to the anti-defamation league. Anti-semitism is on the rise.

We do know that many Gays report discrimination at the workplace.

So clearly whatever Liberals are doing is not working. In fact it is having the reverse effect.

Well said

Good summary of the major points.

Something I also wrote about in my humble sort of way a few days ago.

Wait a minute
I thought we were told that people like Rush Limbaugh were just "entertainers?" I am sure I've heard the Left claiming "Limbaugh is irrelevant." And Hollywood is never ever responsible for someone imitating what they've seen in a movie -- but someone like Limbaugh would be responsible for the actions of someone who has probably never listened to him before?

But a more important question: How did George W. Bush escape the blame for this?

To Useless Idiot
No, racial discrimination is NOT worse than it was in the 1950's. Look on TV. Just about every channel in this country, maybe every channel, has black anchors. This was not the case in the 1950's, nor were there many black faculty teaching anywhere but at a black school. Drive through a suburban neighborhood. In many parts of the US, you will see both black and white residents owning homes in upper middle-class neighborhoods. Try being a black person with a college degree, apply to a major corporation for a job as an accountant or a computer programmer, and see if the only job they offer you is as janitor (that happened a LOT in the 1950's).

Watch a well-dressed black couple register at a nice hotel today. They get in. In the 1950's they were often told there was no record of their reservation.

Find a church group having a meeting attended by both black and white members and see if the neighbors are phoning the FBI to warn them that this is a Communist meeting. Find a state where it is illegal for black and white to marry---in the 1950's many states had "anti-miscegenation laws". See how many white girls invite a black friend to be in her wedding party and then have some of the white bridesmaids quit because they won't be bridesmaids with a black girl.

All of this was ROUTINE in the 1950's. Don't tell me otherwise because I was THERE.

I see the same threat as Joel-De does...
I saw it in Obama's and the media's handling of Pvt. Long's death by a home-grown Muslim extremist..

I saw it in the media's glorification of the Uighurs in Bermuda.

I saw it in the new-speak labeling like "man-made disasters."

I saw it in the FBI Mirandizing of terrorists on a foreign battlefield.

I saw it in the failure to spotlight and condemn the Muslim man who cut off his wife's head here in the USA.

I saw it in the honor killings HERE by Muslim parents that were done to their teenage daughters.

I saw it in the sneaky advancement of Sharia law by CAIR.

I saw it in Obama's support of the hijab and the paying of zadat (Sharia) and his cowardly pandering to the Supreme Leader of Iran.

I saw it in the recent silence of a fraudulent voice that has admonished us that "we must uphold our values and principles."

I saw it in the Dearborn city council's ban on Christian's handing out tracts at the local festival.

I saw it in the building of Muslim foot baths in the airport in Minneapolis.

I saw it in the obedient bow of Obama to the Muslim king.

I saw it in the protests over Geert Wilders showing his movie Fitna here.

And there's probably 100+ more visible signs.
Anyone who thinks Islam is a religion of Peace well, when was the last time you heard a Muslim denounce any of the murders and murderers listed above? When did hear them denounce 911? When did hear ANY of them who are here stand and support the Iraq war? Or condemn the IED's from Iran that have killed or maimed so many of our soldiers? Or decry Iran's nuclear race? When???????

WHEN????????

To Useless Idiot
After posting to you I googled the words "racial discrimination worse urban league" to see what you could possibly have read or heard that led to you make such a ridiculous statement. Anyone who is interested has only to google the same phrase I did. I read three different hits, all quoting Urban League leaders who are basically saying two things: 1) Although the election of a black president was a historic milestone, we still have a long way to go to achieve true equality of opportunity and reward. 2)Present economic problems---layoffs, foreclosures etc---are having a disproportionate effect on blacks.

I suspect that the real motivation for what you said lies in your statement that "What liberals are doing [promoting equality and tolerance] is not working. In fact, it is having the opposite effect." On you and probably on your friends, who are so angry about "forced" integration that you seek revenge by subverting it at every opportunity. Tell me, when you go to the Emergency Room and the doctor is black, do you refuse to be treated by him or her? When the bank teller is black, do you count your money three extra times? (Can you count?)

Uh, Rich
Not to be argumentative, but Sharpton was wrong twice over about Colin Ferguson's massacre. Sharpton was wrong -- and you're right -- about the media, which didn't do much at all to make it a racial incident. And Sharpton was wrong again to deny that it was a racial incident.

Ferguson didn't open fire "on a commuter train." He opened fire _in_ a commuter train. More accurately still, he boarded an LIRR train headed out of New York City, so as not to embarrass the black mayor, David Dinkins, and methodically shot 25 white passengers, six of whom died. His novel defense, until he fired his legal team, was "black rage." He was not only a murderer, but also a racist. Although the guilt for this horror belongs solely to Ferguson, not to Jamaicans, immigrants, or blacks, it was at least as much a racial incident as the dragging death of James Byrd, Jr., in Texas five years later.

Every man
Is responsible for his own actions.
No one is responsible for the actions of another person.

Pr 11:5 -
the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.

I'm Sorry. The Urban League disagrees with you.

Perhaps you could write them a letter and express your point of view.

Tucker's main point is "Yet this ignores the main point: von Brunn is in no way a conservative. He’s just a sad, crazy old man."

Well if Tucker wants to make this claim then he should prove it by providing direct evidence that von Brunn is not a conservative. But he provides absolutely no such evidence.

In fact, all of the evidence indicates that von Brunn is a conservative. In contrast to Tucker's silly claim, von Brunn's statement that "Adolf Hitler led Germany to an amazing spiritual and economic recovery" is highly conservative, for nazism was a highly conservative movement (as acknowledged by virtually all legitimate historians and political theorists, Goldberg excluded). There is also evidence that von Brunn had previous associations with white supremacist groups, who also tend to be highly conservative.

Instead of following the obvious evidence, Tucker tries the astounding tactic of flipping logic on its head and claiming it's really the liberals fault. What a stupid, ridiculous argument.

Tucker ends by trying to redefine conservatism simply in terms of smaller government and individual right. Sorry, but history and psychology tells us that conservatism is much more than that. Some of its secondary traits involve prejudice and racism, precisely as shown by von Brunn.

Conservatives are also supposed to believe in "personal responsibility". Tucker certainly doesn't take any responsibility here. Blaming it on the liberals is about as cheap as it comes.

I'm trying to figure out how ...
... a learned professor could possibly make the above statement (Dr.D 5:17am) then it hit me! When a person has their head wedged so far up their rectum, the only way to see is with a glass belly button, and the good doctor's belly button is cloudy. Sir, you can call day, night and say up is down; and say "all of the evidence indicates that ...." ad nauseum; but that doesn't make it true, and will fool no one here at TH.

DrDouglas
Conservatives, of which I am one of many, ARE for smaller government and individual rights. We believe in the capitalist system and are opposed to a "Nanny state" (which is Socialism and the direction this country is heading).

There may be some racists that also have conservative political leanings but that is not a part of the conservative platform.

However, I will accept the label of prejudiced if that means I am told I must be tolerant of abortion (which is murder of the unborn), even though I don't believe murdering the murderers is the solution.

I do accept the label of prejudiced when I am told I MUST accept the homosexual lifestyle as "normal" and our kindergartners and first graders are being indoctrinated by that policy, as is happening in California and elsewhere.

http://setourteachersfree.com/main/homosexual-activist-appo intment-by-department-of-education/

As Joel-De Opresso Liber says: "The current issue is not discrimination against blacks or gays but rather a pushback against INDIVIDUALS that demand 'extra special rights'."

"I don't know ANYONE that cares if their neighbor or co-worker is gay or black. What we DO care about is when the less qualified black woman gets promoted at work BECAUSE she is a black woman."

"We also care when acceptance of 'gayness' is mandated in the name of 'tolerance'. I don't care what you do in your home, but if you come to work dressed like a drag queen, don't expect me to approve."

"What is resented and resisted now is BEHAVIOR, and ATTITUDE, not race or orientation."

Well said, Joel!

I am a conservative and I pray daily that American citizens will wake up to the terrible damage being done to our wonderful country by those who hate her, and everything she has always stood for.

In God I Trust!

The dots are visible!
You just have to know where to look. This black conservative blogger is THE up and comer because he does just that! http://www.theblacksphere.net GREAT blog and BOOK!

Lilly
"watched a well-dressed black couple check in."

You had better watch out. The libs will get you for being racist.

You know what happens to those who make similar comments about blacks being clean, literate, etc.

Oh! I forgot--such comments are only racist if made by someone the libs don't like, consider stupid, etc. So on that basis I guess you don't have to worry.

WHAT DOES THE WORD--
Minority Mean??? In the U.S., it means that you[a minority person-non-White] get to DICTATE to the Majority[Whites]!!! Except in the case of Elections [Rigged by ACORN]-- THERE, The DEMS Won, and Conservaties are the Minority. In Washington, D.C.] Therefore-- The Dems Claim-- WE WON!! the Republicans/Conservatives get to eat shi-ite, and DIE!! Double standard. Wanna guess how many MOSLEMS work at Kennedy Space Center??? Do YOU think that the "Hajii Patrol" at Port Canaveral Stops THEIR boats, in the Security Zones?? THATS PRO FILIN'!!Speakin' o' Racial Predjudice, Do even the Dems think that Barky O, an' Michelle, even LIKE Caucasians, only jus' a Little?? lol The Moslem Convict who Killed the Recruiter, was only tryin' to do something for his Race/Community/Islam--Nothin' to do with a HATE CRIME!! It's Racist, only if a White Man/Woman Does/Says it!!
Btw-- I Think that Dr. Duggie, is Lt. Col. Hal's Alter Ego!

Your Article
States the DOTS were invisible. I think the Dots were so big they were the size of the planet Earth. Even the tiny ones were the size of Stop Signs. That is what probably threw the American People off. Newt Gingrich, Republican, and Al Sharpton have aligned like the stars of Hillary Care under an Obama Adminstration. I would bet it want be long before the Reverend Jackson will be aligned with Jeb Bush, Mitt Romney, and Eric Cantor. Then we can talk about Invisible and a "One Party System" if you would like.

dr douglas
dr. What do the first letters stand for. Definitely not someone who knows anything about history. Interesting how violent protests are always led by left wing groups.

RACISTS and LIBERALS
Check your history ....
all but two of the assassinations in history were by left-wing liberals, that is a recorded
fact. And if you pay attention to what is going on you will notice that RACEISM is keep alive and well by people like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Chris Rock and the like ! WHY ? ? ?
BECAUSE THEY HAVE BECOME MILLINAIRES by keeing it alive. It is truly SAD that these peope exist in our country, but it is equally SAD that the BRAIN-DEAD follow them, and decent people suffer because it.
The rev.wright who preachs "God Damn America" just purchased a multi-million dollar mansion.
THAT SAYS IT ALL !

Is *Discrimination worse than the 50s??*
Joel-el is spot on in his response; i.e. No, Not per se..But, as I've stated MANY times on this thread and to anyone who hears me, I spent MANY GOOD and I hope, PRODUCTIVE years in Military Service beginning shortly after Segregation was abolished therein..I was glad to see the end to including Personal Photos in Promotion Folders, etc as an aid to ending Racial Preference..But I was and am DEEPLY offended when ANY person is Hired, Promoted or any other action involving Quotas or anything resembling that act!! Now, for the Lady, Gent, or *Whatever* who seems to believe that everyone is EQUAL, I believe you are suffering some sort of Delusional Behavior for which, apparently, there is no known Cure. I'm certainly not Kobe Bryant's "Equal" nor would I be if I were NINE FEET tall and Green!! I just told one of my offspring, today, that I am THROUGH, DONE, FINISHED with the PC BULL FECES..I will continue to treat Everyone as I wish to be Treated, but if ANYBODY thinks I owe them ANYTHING, it would behoove You to give me a wide berth!! CHEERS

Von Brunn a Conservative?
He's a registered Democrat. He had the Weekly Standard on his hit list. He thinks that Eisenhower was a traitor, as well as every Republican president since. He hates Christians as much as he hates Jews. What on earth is conservative about any of this?

A historical note-- it is conservative Christians, conservative military officers, and conservative aristocrats who opposed Hitler. Hitler discouraged party recruiting among those groups and never trusted them. The Party recruitment handbook said that ex-Communists and Social Democrats make excellent converts to Nazism, and they joined in droves.

Ditto Roy in WV
PC has run amok in this country. I made a comment the other day that I was going to sue for Reverse Discrimination, because based on Affirmative Action, I have been Discriminated Against. My suit is this: "I am 61 years old, white, five feet ten inches tall, and I cannot dribble a basketball, or make any 3 pointers, and of course, as a White Guy, I CANNOT Jump very high, but hey what does Ability, Talent, Skills, etc. got to do with it. I still want to Be On The LA Laker Team and Make 10 million dollars a year." So, I feel that I should be considered for this high paying job, which I do not qualify for, just because I do not qualify.

Does this sound rediculous? Of course it does, and it is also Rediculous when men or women et into a prestigeous university but lack the Academic Records, Test Scores, etc. that are required for Regular Registrants. This also applies to good jobs. Many times, minorities who do not even come close to qualifying for prestigeous jobs, get the jobs based on quotas placed by the government, and in the meantime, a well qualified white applicant gets passed up.

It is time we get rid of Special and Preferential Treatment Programs in Hiring, Promoting, and entry into schools. This system is flawed and the results are that now we have many Incompetent People in jobs they do not qualify for, and this practice is destroying the country.

And, it creates an Entitlement Mentality in many, and at the same time, these same unfit people have no gratitude.

We now have an Affirmative Action President with a Harvard Law Degree, and this same Quota President now appoints a Supreme Court Judge who brags that she is the product of Affirmative Action, because she got into a University that She Did Not Qualify to Get Into. Is the America our Forefathers envisioned? Don't think so.
