Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

It wasn’t long ago that most conspiracy theories came from conservatives. The right, after all gave our country the John Birch Society. But these days, liberals have a virtual monopoly on loony ideas -- and they seem to be getting crazier all the time.

For example, in case you haven’t noticed, the United States is sliding into fascism. Well, not sliding, actually. We’re being driven into fascism. By you-know-who.

“Beneath our very noses, George Bush and his administration are using time-tested tactics to close down an open society,” Naomi Wolf wrote this year in Britain’s Guardian newspaper. “There is essentially a blueprint for turning an open society into a dictatorship,” she insists, and the Bush administration purportedly is following all the steps. Items on Wolf’s checklist include: “Create a gulag,” “Develop a thug caste” and “Control the press.”

Really.

Now, you’d think people might notice if things like that were going on. But Wolf explains why we haven’t. “Because we no longer learn much about our rights or our system of government -- the task of being aware of the Constitution has been outsourced from citizens’ ownership to being the domain of professionals such as lawyers and professors -- we scarcely recognize the checks and balances that the Founders put in place, even as they are being systematically dismantled,” she insists.

Actually, Wolf isn’t wrong about one thing: We have allowed judges and lawyers to control too much power. But who’s to blame for that development? Liberals. Conservatives have been fighting for years to limit the powers exercised by courts. We want to see a society where lawmakers legislate, the executive enforces and judges interpret. It’s liberals who try to use the courts to enact policies (such as gay marriage) that they could never convince voters to go for. As for whether or not Americans learn about the Founders, well, conservatives would love to see schoolchildren taught more about the remarkable men who started this country. Unfortunately, our liberal-dominated education system has replaced “History” with “Social Studies.”

It apparently takes years to teach children that Columbus was a racist who came here simply to kill Indians, that George Washington was a slave owner only looking out for his own interests and that everyone from Ben Franklin to Abe Lincoln was gay. By the time kids have “learned” all that, there’s no time left to actually, you know, read the Constitution.

Wolf’s a fairly mainstream liberal. She was the key advisor to Al Gore during his 2000 presidential bid, who, among other things, advised him to wear earth tones. So when she espouses crazed theories about creeping totalitarianism, it’s fair to assume many other liberals share her dementia.

Filmmaker Michael Moore proves that.

Just before his latest diatribe, “Sicko,” was released, Moore told reporters he was afraid the Bush administration would attempt to confiscate it. “We took measures a few weeks ago to place a master copy of this film in Canada so if they did take our negative we would have a duplicate negative of this film in Canada,” Moore told reporters.

The corpulent conman claimed that the feds might seize his movie because 15 minutes were filmed in Cuba. These scenes include a visit to Naomi Wolf’s supposed “gulag” at Guantanamo Bay. A gulag where, according to Moore, prisoners get better health care than Americans. Try to square that circle.

In the event, of course, Moore’s film hit screens without government interference. The only thing blocking the screen, in fact, seems to have been people leaving the theater early. Even presidential candidate John Edwards admitted, “I didn’t quite get to see the end.”

Maybe that’s because the former senator had to rush out on his recent poverty tour. “One in eight of us … do not have enough money for the food, shelter, and clothing they need,” claims Edwards who, while serving as a spokesman for the poor, is building himself one of the largest homes in North Carolina.

In reality, though, we’re not tripping over emaciated poor people at every turn. For the most part, the U.S. has defeated real poverty.

Nine out of 10 families defined as “poor” by the government report they have enough to eat. In fact, “poor” children get almost exactly the same nutrition as middle-class children. A poor child today is expected to grow up to be an inch taller and 10 pounds heavier than the average American soldier in World War II.

Why don’t we hear much about this good news? Maybe because (in Wolf’s model) the Bush administration controls the press and doesn’t want good economic news reported. Maybe it’s all part of a Bushco plot to seize more power.

Sounds like a crazy theory. But, sadly, it’s as sane as anything we’ve heard from the left lately.

agree
I agree and the author didn't even refer to "truthers about 9/11".

I think the Left is definitely wacky.

Tonight at dinner someone made the incredible statement that the US is providing a bad example to Israel by showing an interest in protecting our borders. When asked to clarify he said he thought that neither the US nor Israel should be interested in borders because it isn't what creates a country. This was an intelligent man. I guess having approx 70 to 1 in population, like the population of Israel's Arab neighbors compared to Israel's population, and those people do not admit to Israel's right to exist, is no reason to have a border in his "mind".

It used to be said that a man had two brains, his big brain and his little brain. So with what is a Leftist thinking? If an ostrich actually put his head in the ground, the answer would be that he was thinking with his ostrich brain.

.

Forgot to Mention
Both of you are on target but you left out other major factors, the NEA, you remember them, National Enlightenment Administers. It is their job to be the social engineers assigned the task of training future citizens, read puppets, to be re-educated from in the UN-American values such as two opposite sex parents, an active faith of their choice, God forbid even Christianity, where the term "love the neighbor, does not mean free sex for all ages with others of any age. .

Oh and lets not forget the Judiciary whose task it is to be the ultimate legislators, correcting the poor feeble minded laws passed by the uneducated masses, or establishing laws not passed by the same feeble minded..

Then there’s that bastion of liberty the “Free Press”, their assigned task is also to re-educate the masses. No longer are they limited to merely reporting the facts. They are tasked with restating them in such a manner as to show those masses their ignorance..

I could go on but as I was educated in the 50’s I am too feeble mined to think any more for today, so I will let my dementia reign for the rest of the day

Oh and lets not forg

a modern right-wing conspiracy theory
There is a right-wing conspiracy theory that is very prevalent these days--the idea that the U.S. is being sold out to create a "North American Union" with Canada and Mexico with new currency called the "Amero" or something.

These loons rail against the "Rockerellers" or against "the Bilderbergers" with the same vehemence that the Left rails against BushCo.

The U.S. is FAR from becoming a fascist country under Bush (though as I've said, some of Bush's actions are of dubious constitutionality).

And the U.S. is FAR from being "sold out" to create some mythical North American Union.

Both case studies in group paranoia.

Too much teevee
The whole thing comes from watching too much teevee, where everything is packaged neatly into one hour *stories* that prove it is all the fault of One Guy -- a white businessman, usually -- and by the end of that hour, he is caught and jailed.

Because people do not understand anymore that you cannot take pieces from nine different puzzles and put together a coherent picture, and because they have no knowledge but lots of information and no longer know how to tell the difference ... and because they are desperate for answers to something, ANYTHING, so they can put it away in its box and move on ... conspiracy theories flourish and grow. Just try to tell todays generation that there are things we just cannot explain, or that most things happen at random! Not gonna compute. Everything they see on teevee says otherwise. And the only life they have these days is teevee. Even at the age of 10 my kids knew life is not like that. GrabbyLand does not know this because they have nobody to tell them this is so.

I was with Gabby until...
Until he said we need to be freed from the "tyranny of plea bargaining". As a former prosecutor and public defender (not at the same time!), plea bargaining allows the judicial system to function. We do not have the courtrooms or the judges or attorneys to try each case, but in any case, the defendant has the RIGHT to waive his right to a jury trial and make a better deal. The government gives up something, and so does the defendant. I fail to see how this is tyranny. Before you tell me how innocent people plead guilty to crimes they didn't commit, I don't buy it. Would you do it? No? Case closed.

Lowery Says:
"In reality, though, we’re not tripping over emaciated poor people at every turn. For the most part, the U.S. has defeated real poverty...Why don’t we hear much about this good news?"

Rich, I think you're programming has thrown a bug - COnservatives - particularly on Townhall INSIST that the War on Poverty has been a total failure - that America has only thrown money down the pot trying to educate negroes and ensure seniors eat better than Alpo - better get back back to the lab for the overlords to check under the hood...

Gabby's right
Gabby's right, and Tucker, along with most
mainline journalists, push the neocon agenda.

I understand both Gabby's and Rand y's comments on plea bargaining. There are many reported instances where the prosecutors are apparently pushing agendas that are very attenuated and far afield from traditional justice and common law. Perhaps these should be viewed as instances of bad or evil prosecutors--but they use power of their position to oppress. Many instances from Abu Graib fit that mold, and a professor of Palestinian descent was THREE times acquitted by a jury (in south Florida: double jeporady?) of any criminal assitance to a foreign terrorist organization (which oddly does not include Israel and is seemingly defined to be any foreign organization opposed by Israel). There has been and are trends to attempt to criminalize atitudes and thoughts; exactly the opposite of free speech. And all the police state legislation furthers that.

Always love your country, but NEVER trust your government. And NEVER trust your mainline meda, which continues to mock the legitimate points of 9/11 truthers because that direction points to the neocons.

Mister Dogg
I am not going to comment on the total Poverty issue. But our media refuses to acknowledge that
government employment quietly became a more costly and devastating form of welfare for a notable minority. And the governmental departments became totally dysfunctional and governmental records and functions have become unreliable and unavailable. Major court clerks are told that only 10% of litigation pleadings make it into files, major local tax offices are declared audit-proof, and major city acknowledged to have 70% too many employees (without any effort to correct), and City Hall cafeterias have to close during non-meal hours as the only means of preventing city employees from spending whole day there. Articles that show their "over-representation" in major national agencies at 500 to 600%; sufficient to make their percentage presence very high-near 100%. The biggest story is the succession of different types of offices (major hospitals, HMOs, governmental records of all types) that cannot accurately file or retreive records.

I notice liberal have it backwards
"freedom" and "liberty" have come to mean people can do whatever they want and others must pay for it. "Fascism" is now the witholding of support of the demands of others.

At a state meeting, some of us were talking about the amount of people moving out of New Jersey because of the outrageous taxes and corruption. One lady said, "Well, we need to nail those greedy MFer's with a 50% moving tax. They'll learn something about givin' back!" Some people smiled- others nodded. While no one in the room had the power to enact this- the thinking is terrifying among many liberals.

JR- I can verify EVERTHING you said
and more. WE have so much dead weight in health and human services its appalling. The more incompetent the minority, the quicker and higher the promotion. I must say that every few years someone comes in a cleans up. Once situations are somewhat fixed, back they go to the trough for parasites to feed.

An aside you'll love- at my school, entire "families" wander in at noon or so for the school meals. Many are still in pajamas! People get upset if the breakfast food is gone at noon! Many schools are now "community centers". But we're "not doing enough", according to some. I challenge any liberal to tell me what isn't being done for "the poor" in America. Bring it on.

Liberals and Conservatives differ in ...
their definition of the word 'freedom'.

Conservatives see 'freedom' as the ability to make as much money as one wants without inter ference from the government.

Liberals define 'freedom' as being able to have sex with anybody or anything in public.

Really that is the difference.

correction
"Abu Graub" should have been "Guantanamo" (and anything tarred with word "terrorism") (excuse misspelling)

The Mastermind
If George Bush is controlling the Press it must be one heck of a covert operation.

You sir are obfuscating!
Mister Dogg, I am speaking to you. The War on Poverty has been an abject failure, and you know it. I do not consider the "education of negroes nor ensuring seniors eat better than Alpo" as even part of the war on poverty.

You know that welfare and all that goes with it is a huge mess! The minute the government decided that people should get money without working for it, the war on poverty became a wasteful, incentive-killing mess!

One has to look no further than New Orleans 2005 (and still today) to see that the War on Poverty has done much more harm than good. We supposedly have jobs that "Americans won't do," but I bet they would do it if we killed the government cash cow.

You hurt your credibility when you tried to paint those against "the war on poverty" as racist, haters of older people.

SICKO is FLOPO
The Weinstein Brothers reportedly paid Michael Moore six million dollars plus a added points over break even to Moore for Fahrenheit 9/11 and the film grossed US boxo and serial distribution over 120 million dollars, incredible profit returns for a cheap to produce documentary. The Palm d'Or Award was a "Facke-O" because all the Weinstein's needed in Caan France were one hundred sure votes and the F-9/11 film would win the award and the PR press would take over from there. Supposedly, the Weinstein's never publish the estimates, the front end production and marketing expenses for SICKO were ten million dollars for Michael Moore plus production and distribution-marketing for a base cost to produce of twenty-five million. According to IMDB so far the returns for SICKO is FLOPO. The break even point for profitability is over fifty million and that number increases exponentially over time so this dud may be the end of thenMichael Moore phenomenon.

Laura
There is no question but that our press is not free. However, no one contends that George Bush controls it.

In the last year or two, two distinguished professors, one head of Harvard Kennedy School of Govt and the other at U.Chicago, could not get their article critical of the Israeli Lobby published in USA. However, Washington Post permitted feature article critical of theirs (even though theirs not published here). After years of following advance truths not published here on same general topic, I wrote my own article with perhaps 200 footnotes and not one of 50 papers had any interest in it or any new fact therein. However, I felt that I read articles in response to some of my points: One from LA Times acknowledged that neocons had surreptitiously taken over govt, and were insane in their wild love for Israel, and then at end of article did a flip flop, and asked: Shouldn't we all love Israel so much?

"Tribes" have now identified key issues which are important and constitute their tribal agenda. So now it is impossible to have any fair presentation, and usually any presentation, of anything adverse to the elite tribes agenda. Is allegiance to, and promotion of, a common agenda a conspiracy? Does not matter, but read Tarpley's Synthethic Terrorism for prominent role of "conspiracy" in Am. History and English common law. That is just one of two or three words that elite tribe has turned into a vicious attack on anyone who speaks truth contrary to their agenda or what they perceive as their best self interest. This type of thinking defeats American institutions and founding principles, and enslaves the populace by constant slanted media (and coordinated multiple articles to push it). Thanks for reading.

correction
"advance truth not published here" should be "adverse truth"

Looney Left Getting Crazier?
Having been raised by Looney Lefties myself, I can't say that they have gotten crazier.

They just have a bigger voice.

Where do nutty people who couldn't hold a job get the financing to make such a big footprint?

It is obvious from one of the other articles on Town Hall. George Soros has been caught PUTTING cookies in the cookie jar. He is paying all the loonies he can find to make contributions, call CSPAN and radio talk shows, and attend demonstrations.

You can hear it when you watch American Journal on CSPAN, when people who are obviously uneducated, and don't know what the heck they are saying, start reading talking points over the phone. What they lack in understanding they make up in loudness and rage.

There were always nuts like that floating around the Left, but they never had a platform before.

Before Soros.

If conservatives want to stop him, we have to outspend his propaganda machine, until the slob goes bankrupt.

SICKO is FLOPO
Good. The less money that idiot makes the happier I am. I have and never will see one of Moore's movies because I refuse to let go of my money to line his pockets. Hearing a liberal talk about fascism really makes me laugh. They have managed to take control of the courts, the education system, and for the most part the press. There is a history of over 50 years of corruption with the Dem's, and yet the Sheeple continue to vote these people in. I'm not saying the the Republicans aren't corrupt also, but we tend to weed out the really bad ones among us.

pOINtless Writing
Gee wasn't that fun. Everyday its the same old thing.

Liberals are loony.
Liberalism is a disease.
Liberals are traitors.

And?

When I took writing 101, one of the first things our instructor taught us is:

1.) Don't write "the world is round thesis."
2.) Don't write "the world is flat thesis."

In either case, the writing opportunity is wasted by either arguing the obvious or silly.

Everyone already believes this thesis: liberals are loony.

What I don't get is why he get's paid to write such banal junk.

It's just more red meat for conservatives. Hate liberals.

I can predict what Ann Coulter's next op/ed will be. And everyone thereafter. Hate liberals.

Is there a point here?

When AM talk radio came to the fore it gave conservatives a place to come together. Great. But then it turned liberal. It became one big b***h session after another.

This op/ed is not going to convince anybody of anything. Same with Ann Coulter. Spewing hate generally just falls on deaf ears, except for people who are hate junkies.

One things for sure. If conservatives were actually interested in any dialog whatsoever with someone who slightly disagrees with them on something, they'd have no one to turn to that could write it.

When I was a child, we kids use to have fun just calling each other names. My mother would say that couldn't wait for the day we outgrew that phase.

When are you people going to grow up and start convincing people of something somewhere as opposed to
" liberals have a virtual monopoly on loony ideas".

Drive-by
Apparently "writing 101" is not terribly rigorous.

Re: oldsocialworker post of 8:46
I think few things have scared me as much as this post. If this doesn't show that many liberals don't believe in freedom(just in getting their way), I don't know what does. Imagine an American citizen suggesting we put a 50% moving tax on people's right to move from one state to another if they wish to avoid excessive taxation and political corruption. Freedom to relocate has always been one of our basic rights. If New Jersey is losing too many of its residents maybe it should look at making some changes instead of bitching about it and threatening to sic more taxes on people. I see similarities in this lady's statement to Hillary Clinton's pledge to confiscate corporate profits so she can "give back" to the people. Pure socialism if I ever heard it. God help us if she wins next year.

"Hearing a liberal talk about fascism really makes me laugh."

Especially since it was the left that made an actual pact with the Nazis.

hate spewing?
It looks like someone on here is accusing the other side of doing what he himself does. What exactly is hate-spewing? The left truly cannot see hate-spewing coming from their side because they believe what is being said is the truth. Therefore, only those opposed to their truth can be hate-spewers.

I guess I missed it, but I just did not see hate in Tucker's column. He mentioned some wild conspiracy theories coming from the left. He backed them up. If that is hate spewing, God help us.

If you want to disagree, you could be a little more like Robert (with whom I agree very rarely), and make a statement and back it up. Going off on some weird, nearly incoherent tangent does not make a case.

driveby
Have you ever had the opportunity to hear John Carville on one of his rants and tears?? Apparently some of you people only want to point fingers in our direction. How about the "mote" in your own eye??

Beware Our Generals
The LAT reports that Gen. George Casey, the Army chief of staff, has gone on a barnstorming tour lately about the state of the Army. Suffice it to say that Casey isn't happy with how things are going:

Army Chief of Staff Gen. George W. Casey Jr. has been speaking out increasingly often about the stress the high level of deployments in Iraq and elsewhere have put on the Army. "Our force is stretched and out of balance," he said Thursday. "The tempo of our deployments are not sustainable; our equipment usage is five times the normal rate and continuously operating in harsh environments."

I have a thing I do
With my oldest daughter[17, shes the only one that will do it]. We read TH and WaPo.Then we discuss issues. She is a lovely and compassionate girl but is also very bright. We both play Devils Advocate for both sides of an issue. With informed kids like her, our country will be ok. I just wish my other 2 would do it too. She is able to now see the PC that pervades our society and is especially bad in school. She has gotten in trouble for disputing "facts' presented by a particular teacher. I am proud of her. The exercise has worked well.

Gabby
You are a troll who has no sense of history and facts. FDR violated the Constitution numerous times, and was far more totalitarian the Wbya. Remember the Japanese camps? Remember the concept of total war, win or die? I doubt it.

How about Johnson's Vietnam fiasco?

Try to read a valid history book!

hmmm
I found the comments very interesting(despite drivebyposting's boredom). I did not know that records and health record keeping was a problem. As for New Jersey, nothing makes people move out quickly with their money like talking about taking it before you can actually do so. We saw this in Quebec when a Separatist party threatened to seize private people's assets before an election. The night before the election a parade of 300 Brinks trucks left the province filled with currency as people relocated money outside of Quebec to Toronto. Head offices changed where they were incorporated. It was the beginning of the beginning for Toronto and the beginning of the end for Montreal as a financial center.
I don't know why people come to sites they hate. How boring must their life be.

It is interesting about the effect of TV. Not only is the bad guy usually a white guy, he is usually a pillar of the community, leading a double life. Some times you can figure out who the "killer" is by asking who would the Left most like it to be and then you watch the plot unfold and of course the nun is the serial killer.

The Constitution, Liberals, etc
Rich hit it out of the park. The problem is that these people (Libs) have NOT read the Constitution, or if they have, find paragraphs they don't like. Their approach is to go hire a lawyer and find a liberal judge rather than amending the document. Take the example of what they are doing on lead-based paint. There was a brouhaha where the new Dem Governor tried to veto a piece of legislation which was allowed to become law at the end of the prior term. These people are all about shyster tactics and short of ability to present a cogent argument.

Wikipedia says that "Liberalism refers to a broad array of related ideas and theories of government that consider individual liberty to be the most important political goal." This does not describe the people who claim to be liberals. Instead, the Liberal of today is a Socialist trying to stop the roll-back of 40 years of failed policies such as food-stamps, welfare, school student "rights", the shell game called Social Security, all of which represent their belief that we should instead give up our liberty to Government for protection from ourselves. It is time to start calling these people what they are: not progressives --they are trying to defend the status quo) and not liberals, but Socialists, Communists, and totalitarian sympathisizers.

Wilson54
You know, in schools of social work it is taught that inequal wealth is due to some being lucky and getting more (whatever constitutes "more") because something is being taken from another who wasn't as lucky. A pie chart is actually used to illustrate the distribution of wealth regardless of how the "wealth' is acquired. Lifestyle choices are never factored in- never. Anyone who does well in school, works, goes into business, etc... is seen as lucky and therefore should "give back".

Irony...
drivebyposting whines about generalizing, then starts his conclusion with the phrase "when are you people..." I can't stop laughing...

oldsocialworker
Wow...sounds like a school of social engineering to me. Scary.

Did it ever occur to you that maybe your article was not well written enough to be printed? Or maybe it had other factors like boring or something else? Just because you were not printed does not mean censorship. You automatically look to blame rather than look to oneself.

ROTFLMAO !!!

I want to be kommandant
“Beneath our very noses, George Bush and his administration are using time-tested tactics to close down an open society,” Naomi Wolf wrote ... “There is essentially a blueprint for turning an open society into a dictatorship,’ she insists, and the Bush administration purportedly is following all the steps. Items on Wolf’s checklist include: ‘Create a gulag’...”

So, where I can apply to be kommandant for the concentration camp for the commie professors, politicians, and judges?

“...‘Develop a thug caste’ and ‘Control the press.’”

For Leftists who really believe this, it's not too late for you to flee before the next Krystallnacht.

Lolo2

The inability to publish facts adverse to elite agenda is not unique to me, and pattern is evident. Back in 1967, only two obscure newspapers in our country published the Israeli attack of USS Liberty, and nothing appeared for 30 years (and then it was defensive spin).

Recently, leading Scottish newspaper reported the five Israelis, dressed as Palestinians filming 9/11 as it occurred, high fiveing each other with glee, with a van full of box cutters. The Washington Post had vague reference to it that effectively reported nothing. W/o hard proof (which was concealed from our populace as anything adverse to Israel is classified, as was the murder of our sailor on USS Liberty), Israel demanded their agents be released to Israel and they were.

Two or three years ago, a leading British paper had feature article on fact that our country was helping Israel put its nuclear weapons on top of our Harpoon missles and installing them in Israeli new submarines; so that Israel could deliver from under the sea. This news never appeared in USA.

A year and a half after first expose of our use of torture without mention of Israeli involvement, including Congressional hearing w/o reference to connection and w/o reference in any Am. media, the Washington Post does feature article crediting Israel for the leadership and involvement and thanking them for it. Previously, Israel had regularly been on our State Dept. short list of worst abusers of human rights due to torture (and on list of stealing intellectual pty and list of leader in money laundering, but this rarely publicized in USA).

The more sinister development is success in manipulation of attitudes via coordinated articles (and media such as "24") on hatred of other religions, acceptance of use of nuclear weapons, etc.

The Harvard and U. Chicago professors inability to publish here shows that it is not unique to me, but really applicable to anything contrary to elite's agenda.

Just for your edification Drivebyposting,

Liberals ARE loony.
Liberalism IS a disease.
Liberals who are willing to destroy their own country in order to gain political power ARE traitors.

Yes this article may have been the equivilent of mindless TV just for entertainment, but maybe unlike whiny liberals we want to be entertained once in a while. See, conservatives actually have a sense of humor.

You want to talk about hate?
Want to talk about "Not allowing any opposing viewpoints"?

OK, let's talk about your church, the daily kos.
Yes I go there every couple days, just to see what the liberal talking points are gonna be p[osted here on TH by the Kossacks who have nothing better to do than sit in their mom's basement and spout inanities.

If anyone here has ever tried to post a conservative thought on kos, you already know that your account will be banned and your post will be summarily wiped.
How's that for being Open Minded Liberals?

Want to talk about hate? How ab out the daily postings by loons on kos and huffpo that constantly call for bush's assasination along with anyone else that doesn't agree with them?
Gee sounds pretty hateful to me.

Liberals have never had an original thought in their lives, they keep spouting the same garbage that's been spouted since marx.

Instead of "From each, according to his ability; to each, according to his need." Karl Marx
Today it's "I want to take us from George Bush's'You're on your Own' society, to a new 'We're all in it together' society." Hillary Clinton.

Game garbage, different wrapper.

pOINtless Posting part2
Wow had to post in segments, I ust just be Filled with Hate today, huh?

and driveby, even someone as leftist as yourself has to admit that some of the loony theories spouted by the left are really Out there.
The same people who accuse GWB of being "stupid, retarded, a moron, and so on, are also the same people who accuse him of masterminding a huge shadow conspiracy to bring down the WTC and invade Iraq.
OK so tell me, which is it?
Is bush the bumbling idiot, or the criminal mastermind????

I have only ever Hated one person in my 5 decades on this planet. Howm any people do You hate driveby?
Let's see, you Hate Bush,
You hate Rove,
You hate Gonzalez, ]
You hate Rummy,
Oh yeah and you Hate anyone who doiesn't agree with you.
No wonder libs want to defend the islamists, they're 2 of a kind.

Media Matters too
It's not just the Kos. I tried to post on Media Matters once and it never showed up. And I was even NICE! Just disagreed with their premise. Sheesh. And this is part of the Clinton machine. Whoo Boy is the thought of HRC in the WH a scary thought.

Will we ever see
I wonder if we will ever see a Leftist apologize? I was rereading history and Hailie Selassie was brought down in Ethiopia because of Leftist students. The shah of Iran was brought down in Iran because of Leftist students. Geez. I wonder if the Ethiopians, and their neighbors the Sudanese and the Somalis, and the Iranians are happy today for the Leftists having destroyed governments that were working on reforms but hadn't gotten to utopia, compared to what they got when they destroyed their own governments, and what they got is definitely not utopia, not even close.

I guess we will have to be happy with the few defections such as David Horowitz and I don't know who else who saw the light.

I am enjoying reading Jackie Mason's Shmucks. it is nice to take some time off and read someone with a sense of humor and sense.

The Shah of Iran was an iron fisted dictator - are you really saying that because a brute toadies to America, so-called lefties should hold their tongues? You do remember that America revolted against a heavy-handed monarchy to gain a free republic! Of course, that the Shah was actually dethroned and replaced by a far right religious theocracy shouldn't let you stop making a fool of yourself...
(Hitler, though, was beaten by the left...)

Mrs. Paddy-
I think many school districts reflect the reactive response to social engineering.

Laws are passed that require schools to accommodate certain behaviors under the banner of "disability", provide certain services under the banner of "meeting needs". Before you know it, we are a bureaucratic collection of dysfunctional "Gladys Kravitzes" enabling the cultivation and perpetuation of the worst in people.

The "left" and "right" in various countries throughout time are not comparable to ours at this time. Overall, the "left" tends to be anti-establishment and "power to the people" focused. At this juncture, I'd say the American right is- using the aforementioned understanding- is more "left" than our big government control declared leftists are.

I'm tired. I hope I've made sense.

I just saw the documentary The Rape of Europa. I commend it to one and all.

comments and questions
Who is Naomi Wolf? Is she American or English? I proudly confess that I may have heard of her vaguely but have no real idea who she is. Have I missed anything? Not that I care.

More questions - she states that the Bush Administration has a checklist;

1) Create a Gulag - What is a gulag? (I know what the answer is but since she made the statement she or one of her defenders should answer that question)

2) Can she or one of her defenders explain the historical reference in the remark? (Beware - you'll have to read a BOOK first, and it has a LOT of big words in it and it will take more than two hours.)

Question/comment - if you have defined the word 'gulag' and explained the historical reference in the accusation after having been forced to read a book, would you please have the intellectual integrity to be ashamed of such an ignorant statement?

Moving on - 'Develop a thug caste'. Could we have some particulars? I want names and dates and PROOF please.

'Control the press' That very statement is too stupid even to acknowledge. But if you could give me one example and prove it I might rescind my remark.

Any takers? Don't get nasty, just answer my questions.

The need for this is?
quote:

"For example, in case you haven’t noticed, the United States is sliding into fascism. Well, not sliding, actually. We’re being driven into fascism. By you-know-who."

"The U.S. Army is authorized to create civilian prison labor camps on military installations, according to a little-noticed regulation.

Army Regulation 210-35, entitled "Installations: Civilian Inmate Labor Camps," signed Feb. 14, 2005, by Sandra R. Riley, then-administrative assistant to the secretary of the Army. "

Jackpine Savage wrote: "If anyone here has ever tried to post a conservative thought on kos, you already know that your account will be banned and your post will be summarily wiped.
How's that for being Open Minded Liberals?"

I got instantly banned from the RIGHT-WING blog LittleGreenFootballs.com for trying to show (in a civil, non-threatening way) that Bush's Iraq War policy was leading us to disaster. On that blog, until a few months ago, no criticism of Bush on the War on Terror was tolerated; any criticism got you immediately banned as a "troll." So they just removed my account on that basis.

And on the RIGHT-WING blog FreeRepublic.com, they had a long-standing policy of banning any pro-Giuliani posts because the moderator said Giuliani wasn't a "true conservative."

Unfortunately, both right-wing and left-wing blogs have devolved into echo chambers for a single point of view. Dissent from that point of view and you are immediately ostracized, insulted in the most filthy language, and (sooner rather than later) banned altogether.

Only the elder folks can understand
The changes going on by the entire government structure in DC to refashion this nation into a different one than the Founders and former generations of Americans believed in and died to preserve.

Scary article over at WND about the civilian camps run by the feds.

It is a very unAmerican and unConstitutional idea. Therefore it isn't any wonder George Bush created it.
---------------------------------

Our voice is given no weight in the public square of ideas today, except for the internet and talk radio.

GW Bush is a complete political idealist, owned by the money powers that are the true rulers of this and other nations.

He works hard to bring those mens vision for the world into reality, at the cost of changing this nation from the vision of the Founders.

GW Bush spits on their vision and ideas.
And because we have such hero worship today for men holding positions of power, he wins hearts and minds to support him over the laws and constitution of this nation.
Some naively, some intentionally as they have the same vision for the futrue of the world GW Bush has.

That comment by the "lady" mentioned by OSW was so telling. First, her premise was that a tax is punitive. It is intended to punish someone.

Second, she proposed a vague "50% moving tax." Tax on what? On the moving family's or individual's income for the part of the year spent in NJ, prior to moving? On the price of the move, as charged by Mayflower -- or paid to U-Haul for a big truck? On the profits -- IF any -- from the sale of a house? What if there wasn't a home sale involved?

A knee-jerk, reflexive mantra emerged here. "Tax, tax, tax the b*st*rds!" BASIS for taxation to be determined. But we gonna git you, sucka.

Hating hate
Liberals have no trouble talking out of both sides of their mouths, because they refuse to accept a little concept known as "CONTEXT".

"Hate makes people feel bad, so hate is bad, so nobody should hate."

Cool. So don't hate child molesters? Hey, it's hate, therefore it must be wrong... right? WRONG.

The left has made the advancements they have made in the past 50 years because they have suppressed the concept of "context" and turned every argument into a bumper snicker.

George Will had a very good comeback for Donahue when Donahue tried to equate us with Hussein 15 years ago:

"Hitler used tanks to conquer France, we used tanks to liberate France; NOT the same thing."

Calling the left "looney" is appropriate because they are "looney". Saying they are wrong is appropriate because they are wrong. Saying the (far) right is looney is inappropriate because we are not looney. Calling the (far) right wrong is inappropriate because we are right. NOT the same thing.

Deo Vindici.

What is Fascism?
Google "The 14 Characteristics of Fascism" by Dr Lawrence Britt and decide for yourself whether the United States is moving in a Fascistic direction. For those in a hurry, the 14 characteristics of Fascism (taken from study of Hitler in Germany, Mussolini in Italy, Franco in Spain, Suharto in Indonesia, and Pinochet in Chile) are the following:

1) Powerful and continuing nationalism.
2) Disdain for the recognition of human rights.
3) Identification of enemies as unifying cause.
4) Supremacy of the military.
5) Rampant sexism.
6) Controlled mass media.
7) Obsession with national security.
8) Religion and government are intertwined.
9) Corporate power is protected.
10) Labor power is suppressed.
11) Disdain for intellectuals and the arts.
12) Obsession with crime and punishment.
13) Rampant cronyism and corruption.
14) Fraudulent elections.

----------------------------
Or one could go to the man who invented the word and see what it is for himself.

Else we get any and every thing in politics thrown in as accusations between political parties.

"The Fascist State organizes the nation, but leaves a sufficient margin of liberty to the individual; the latter is deprived of all useless and possibly harmful freedom, but retains what is essential; the deciding power in this question cannot be the individual, but the State alone.... "

The exact opposite of the Declaration of Independence.
AND
US Constitution

Which both political parties, democrats and republicans now spit on.

I would like to see both parties kicked out of power myself.

Fascism 101 (part one)
Which fascist plan you support Lilly?

Italians! Here is the program of a genuinely Italian movement. It is revolutionary because it is anti-dogmatic, strongly innovative and against prejudice.

For the political problem: We demand:

a) Universal suffrage polled on a regional basis, with proportional representation and voting and electoral office eligibility for women.

b) A minimum age for the voting electorate of 18 years; that for the office holders at 25 years.

c) The abolition of the Senate.

d) The convocation of a National Assembly for a three-years duration, for which its primary responsibility will be to form a constitution of the State.

e) The formation of a National Council of experts for labor, for industy, for transportation, for the public health, for communications, etc. Selections to be made from the collective professionals or of tradesmen with legislative powers, and elected directly to a General Commission with ministerial powers.

For the social problems: We demand:

a) The quick enactment of a law of the State that sanctions an eight-hour workday for all workers.

b) A minimum wage.

c) The participation of workers' representatives in the functions of industry commissions.

d) To show the same confidence in the labor unions (that prove to be technically and morally worthy) as is given to industry executives or public servants.

e) The rapid and complete systemization of the railways and of all the transport industries.

f) A necessary modification of the insurance laws to invalidate the minimum retirement age; we propose to lower it from 65 to 55 years of age.

Fascism 101 (part two)
For the military problem: We demand:

a) The institution of a national militia with a short period of service for training and exclusively defensive responsibilities.

b) The nationalization of all the arms and explosives factories.

c) A national policy intended to peacefully further the Italian national culture in the world.

For the financial problem: We demand:

a) A strong progressive tax on capital that will truly expropriate a portion of all wealth.

b) The seizure of all the possessions of the religious congregations and the abolition of all the bishoprics, which constitute an enormous liability on the Nation and on the privileges of the poor.

c) The revision of all military contracts and the seizure of 85 percent of the profits therein.

Fascism, Anyone?
Mr. Tucker asserts "We [i.e., conservatives] want to see a society where lawmakers legislate, the executive enforces and judges interpret."

Oh, really? Then why haven't conservatives yelled bloody murder about numerous Bush signing statements that go far beyond commenting on laws passed by Congress and to assert Bush's intent to ignore what he doesn't like. Sounds like a banana republic to me.

As for Tucker's haughty disdain for people on the left who are warning that the current administration has fascist tendencies, I urge readers to examine Laurence W. Britt's article "Fascism Anyone?". After examining Hitler's Germany, Mussolini's Italy, Franco’s Spain, Salazar’s Portugal, Papadopoulos’s Greece, Pinochet’s Chile, and Suharto’s Indonesia, Britt arrived at 14 characteristics of a fascist regime. Tell me they don't sound awfully familiar.
