Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

When it comes to illegal immigration, even some liberals understand the danger.

Best-selling novelist Richard North Patterson is the very photograph of modern liberalism. “He lives in San Francisco and on Martha’s Vineyard,” the book jacket says (now that’s a commute), “with his partner, Dr. Nancy Clair.” He’s also a former trial lawyer and chairs the liberal pressure group Common Cause. So when he speaks, we hear the voice of the modern American left.

In his latest novel, “Exile,” Patterson weaves a tale of a Palestinian terrorist bombing on American soil. How does the author get the terrorists into the U.S. undetected? Simple. They jet to Mexico, relax for a few days on the beach, then walk across the border into Texas. “Crossing would be no problem,” Patterson writes. After all, “thousands did it every day.”

But Patterson’s book, intentionally or not, also shows that border enforcement works. The terrorists considered crossing in western Mexico. But “self-appointed American vigilantes had begun spending their idle hours patrolling the borders of Arizona and New Mexico,” Patterson writes. The terrorists didn’t want to be “caught by some white people’s hunt for brown invaders they could not tell from Arabs.”

And with those words from a liberal novelist in mind, let’s turn to the Senate’s immigration “reform” bill.

Last week, the bill seemed dead when senators couldn’t agree to end debate and actually vote on it. Luckily for voters, the Senate had other important business to move on to: debating whether to vote that it had “no confidence” in Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez (although in the end, lawmakers couldn’t manage to vote on that, either).

But the immigration bill’s not dead. “I believe we can get it done,” President Bush announced. “I’ll see you at the bill signing.” Let’s hope not.

Senators who are pressing for a reform bill are making a fundamental mistake, one that’s highlighted by Patterson’s fiction. We don’t need a new immigration law. We need to start enforcing the immigration laws we have.

For starters, let’s complete the border fence.

Just last year Bush signed the Secure Fences Act of 2006. We need to finish building that fence, make sure it’s patrolled and give it time to work. And our brief experience with fences shows that they do work. Last year an observer wrote to tell me that his group (probably the “vigilantes” Patterson wrote disparagingly about) had “shut down approximately five miles (2 percent) of the California border. It obviously can be done.” They did it by building fences and then, along with federal agents, patrolling the border.

It’s long past time to close off the border. After all, the Pew Hispanic Center estimates there are 12 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. and that 40 percent (4.4 million) have been here less than five years. Thus they’ve arrived since Sept. 11. We have no idea who these people are, of course, or where they’re living.

What we do know is that there are a virtually limitless number of potential terrorist targets in the U.S. and that it’s impossible to protect all of them. At any time, a suicide bomber can detonate on a commuter train or in the middle of a busy store.

We’ve been protected so far by good police work -- authorities have broken up dozens of terrorist plots -- and by the fact that it’s difficult for our terrorist enemies to convince people to kill themselves. Simply put, self-detonation isn’t a growth industry.

But let’s suppose that a mere one-half of 1 percent of the illegals who’ve come here in recent years have terrorist leanings. That’s still 22,000 people. Considering it took only 20 terrorists to kill 3,000 Americans, that’s a scary number.

It wouldn’t take much to bring our economy to a halt. Suppose a handful of terrorists detonated at malls in Florida, Maine, Oregon and Texas. That would probably be enough to keep people out of shopping centers for months. Or if the same attackers blew themselves up commuter trains in San Francisco, D.C., Atlanta and Boston. Commuters would stay off public transit for weeks. We need to seal the border so we can keep the number of illegals from growing. That’s the first step. The next step is to shrink the number who are already here. That process will begin when we crack down on those who employ illegals.

The fact is that most illegals are coming here to work. Take away the jobs and they’ll return home. Again, lawmakers have already passed the necessary laws. They simply need to make sure those laws, including the REAL ID Act, are fully enforced. Let’s make it easier for employers to verify the immigration status of workers, and let’s hold those employers accountable when they don’t.

Many senators seem to think they need to pass another law before we can do anything about illegal immigration. But that’s not correct. We need to enforce the laws we already have. Only when we’re doing that should we even consider passing new laws.

America's Future

These next 2 years are vital to the future of this country. For 2007 we must make certain that McCain/Kennedy or whatever it's called this year does not pass the House. It will pass the Senate. The President will sign it, followed by the Totalization Treaty with Mexico, which qualifies former illegals with just 6 qtrs(18 mo) even if worked illegally, the benefits that we had to work 40 qtrs(10 yrs) to qualify for.

In 2008 we must make the candidates address border security and immigration enforcement.
20-30 million citizens of other countries are in our country illegally, 55% from Mexico, most of the rest from other Central and South American countries. Let's not ignore the leftward voting trends of these countries. It is notable that they picked May Day, an old communist day of celebration for their marches.

Most polls show at least half of the American citizens of Hispanic descent want the borders and laws enforced. Republicans will not win by alienating their current voters to get 40% of a new small block that will grow very large, very fast if amnesty is granted. That will grow the Democrats vote larger and faster as the influx increases exponentially as the result of another amnesty. It will spell the end of the Republican Party. The people who used to vote Republican will stop voting or form a new party. Conservatives will lose political influence and we will slide inexorably towards socialism (it has already started).

Most of what you hear about this issue is political propaganda that tries to convince you to give up your country without a fight, including on Fox News. The big money players are all on board the cheap labor express, they care not that American citizens do not want another amnesty. We know the last one resulted in 10 times the number of illegal aliens and a general disregard of our laws. The next one will be equally successful.

We need Comprehensive Immigration Enforcement, not reform. We need to restore respect for the law and the faith of the American people that their government is not selling them out. Amnesty for the illegal aliens is also amnesty for the corrupt companies who have been employing them. Money trumps everything, including love of country. Multi-nationals have no loyalty to country by definition, they see us as a market, not a nation. They see people as workers, documented or undocumented, no difference. If they can't send the work to where the labor is cheaper, then they want to bring the cheap labor here. Citizenship is meaningless.

If we love our Constitution and our representative Republic and we intend to keep it we must not surrender our sovereignty or abandon the rule of law. Profits must not supercede security. We should not create a new path to citizenship. We have a path to citizenship, more generous than any other country, illegal aliens have ignored it and bad choices do have consequences.

Voter Imposed Term Limits, INC.
Rich.

The beginning of the Second American Revolution without all the shooting and noise.

I am so sick and tired of Congress that I have been forced do something, so I have founded Voter Imposed Term Limits. The American people must be made to understand that they control Congress not the other way around.

The Mission of Voter Imposed Term Limits is to educate the individual American Citizen of the awesome power and responsibility giving to each American Citizen by the United State Constitution. All Federal elections and a great many Local elections are National and International in scope. All members of Congress vote on National and International problems and issues. No more " All elections are Local ".

We do not need a Constitutional Amendment to limit the terms members of Congress can serve. All American Citizens have that power in their vote. Voter Imposed Term Limits will educate the American Voter to wield this power judicially and with great effect.

The Congress of today is pure theater. No reality, all smoke and mirrors for the audience. The only part that is real is the total dedication to REELECTION. The job is so great no one wants to give it up. Power corrupts and they have absolute power over our lives.
Voter Imposed Term Limits will, through inventive use of all Media Forms and Forums, give the American Voter a way to simply, easily and with certainty limit the term in office all federally elected officials.

The really nice thing about Voter Imposed Term Limits is that we can do it without the need to even ask Congress for anything.
I believe that a new Unwritten Rule is taking shape in the mind of the American voter, be they Democrat or Republican, simply put it goes something like “6 YEARS AND OUT”.

don't know where they are?
Am I the only person that knows where they are? I see them every single day of the week, standing around street corners waiting for pickup trucks and vans to pick them up for day work...by the hundreds at our public hospital using the medical care that is free to them....outside the many new elementary schools being built in my neighborhood that are approximately 90% hispanic....I can find them easily so I DO NOT buy that we "don't know where they are". That is a giant cop out and I was sorry to see you include that fairy tale in your otherwise excellent article.

Seal the Border
Please call your Senators and Congressmen, promise to vote out of office any politician that won't defend our country by building an effective fence first.

Also, also tell them not punish employers who hire the illegals that the government won't keep out. If they can't work they will go on welfare.

top 10 problems with pending Scamnesty

http://vdare.com/misc/070607_economist.htm

The above is a literate analysis of the GLARING, EGREGIOUS flaws in the pending Scamnesty legislation. The new Rasmussen makes pretty clear that almost 3/4 of us want REAL ENFORCEMENT first and foremost:

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/just_26_favor_senate_immigration_plan

Some key excerpts from Rasmussen:
________________________________________________

The enforcement side of the debate is clearly where the public passion lies on the issue. Seventy-two percent (72%) of voters say it is Very Important for “the government to improve its enforcement of the borders and reduce illegal immigration.” That view is held by 89% of Republicans, 65% of Democrats, and 63% of unaffiliated voters.

Advocates of “comprehensive” reform have taken to arguing that those who want an enforcement-only policy must explain how they would deal with the 12 million illegal aliens already living in the country. The public reaction to that question appears to be “Why?” Only 29% of voters say it is Very Important for “the government to legalize the status of illegal aliens already in the United States.”

a voice of inconvenient truths
Check out Lou Dobb's web site here:

http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/lou.dobbs.tonight/

Lou's Top 5 List:

Top 5 Dumbest Things in the Immigration Bill

5) Taxpayers will pay for the immigration lawyers for illegal aliens if working in agriculture.

4) Illegal aliens would be given legal status just one day after their application is filed even if a background check is not completed.

3) Gang members are eligible for amnesty if they renounce their gang status.

2) Borders do not have to be secure before the amnesty program begins.

1) $2,600,000,000,000 -- That is the cost the Heritage Foundation estimates to cover the retirement benefits of 12,000,000 illegal aliens if this amnesty bill becomes law.

Lou's current column (worth a read) suggesting that Presidente Jorge back off (as another great American Sen. Sessions effectively told Jorge):
http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/06/12/Dobbs.June13/index.html

As information, Lou grew up "dirt poor" but graduated from Harvard in Economics on merit. Like Ann Coulter, he is a lightning rod because he too speaks the inconvenient truths that the reconquista crowd is loath to hear, becuase it gives lie to their litany of disingenuous drivel with its ulterior agenda. One of their favorite ploys is the hackneyed ad hominem calumny that he is a "racist" or "xenophobe"... au contraire, his wife of many years is a LEGAL Latino-American (indeed, Mexican heritage).

hide and seek
People flying from Milwaukee to Seattle have to be patted, disrobed, x-rayed and have their belongings searched. Probably all but a few are full blooded Americans. But for national security we endure it. I disagree, but our President sees the need. Yet our borders are an open door. You would think that anybody with the sense of a 5 year old would see the terrible inconsistency. Anybody with an honest bone in their body would be forced to ask how the President can square this disparate policy on the borders with the one in the airports. But no one asks precisely because it would show the king with no clothes. WE hide our faces to prevent an embarassment which would force us to SHUN this president. It's more than many can bear.
We can't find 12 million people but if we change the law we'll find them all and sign them up. Who are they trying to kid? It is past time to take the gloves off and say what it is; a bald faced LIE.

Immigration - can anyone define it?
First, get off your backside and off this website and call your Senators, call you Congressman. Tell them "ENFORCEMENT FIRST. THEN WE CAN TALK MORE ABOUT THE REST."

Second, find "America-First" candidates for your districts, get up off your computer chair, go work DURING THE PRIMARIES TO DEFEAT THE OPEN BORDERS CLOWNS, and put "America-First" candidates into the general election.

That is what I am doing.

Check out Duncan Hunter for President:

********
If I asked you, "what is immigration?", what would you say?

Most of us have the historical view of beneficial immigration. Through Ellis Island to become new Americans.

They make a definite decision - when they got on the boat for the long trip to the new world, they left the old world behind.

Perhaps you think of the pioneers homesteading, like the Ingalls family in "Little House on the Prarie."

Obviously, the old immigration is dead.

The new immigration is, by contrast, deadly.

Old immigration meant assimilation.

The "New immigration" means segregation, or
anti-assimilation.

The Old Immigration meant loyalty to the U.S.A.
Did you ever notice the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces that invaded and crushed Nazi Germany - had a German name? Ike and his forebears knew what loyalty meant.

Now, if we ask for loyalty to the U.S.A., we are slandered as "xenophobes."

You see, this is not about "immigration reform", it is not about "border control."

Exactly what the elitists (Bush family, Kennedy family, Rockefeller family, Clinton Incorporated, etc.) are up to does not make any logical sense. Why do they want millions of uneducated, non-assimilating, welfare-soaking, strangers?

Perhaps the conspiracy theorists are right.

Now back to the question. If we asked the President or his cohorts "what is immigration?"
do you really think their opinion would be anything like yours?

Throw the bums out.

ELECT GOOD CANDIDATES - IN THE PRIMARIES!!!!

Of course they are lying
Mr. Bush has been talking about securing our Nation since 9/11 and I have to say I thought he was doing a great job. But not he has clearly lost his mind. The thought of how many terrorist have come in with the waves of illegals makes me ill. They will not come out of the shawdows if there is any indication they may have terrorist ties. Only the "good" ones will come forward. We will never know the others are here until they kill Americans. I will hold everyone who votes for this personally responsible for that when the day comes and it will.

I know first hand that our government cannot process all of these people and do background checks in any type of timely manner. They can't even process passports or security clearances for US Citizens. They are incapable of doing it all and most background checks will be worthless if we don't know the real name.

Our borders also will still not be secured. After these people are legalized they will want too much money so they have to let millions more in to do the jobs "Americans won't do".

We have to stop this. We have to take back our country. Our Republic. Governed by the people through their elected officials, not by the elected officials despite the wishes of the people.

Make them enforce the laws they already made and secure our borders! Fight on everyone. We are in the right. Call, call, call. Email. I am going to the March in DC tomorrow I hope. We can do this!

HadEnough37
See you there! Noon at the Capitol, March to the Washington Monument. We need to show them we will not roll over for another amnesty.

VA Patriot & HadEnough37
Wish I could be there.
I'll pray for your safety and good cheer for all who attend.
And for the success of our message!

God Bless Gwinnett County GA!
THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION WAS ADOPTED BY THE MEMBERS PRESENT OF THE GWINNETT COUNTY REPUBLICAN PARTY ON JUNE 14, 2007.

THE RESOLUTION PASSED BY A UNANIMOUS VOTE.

Re: SB 1348, The “Compromise Amnesty Bill”

Whereas on June 7th the members of the U.S. Senate listened to the American People and rejected cloture on the Kennedy Compromise Immigration Bill (SB 1348) and effectively killed this disastrous bill.

Whereas President Bush and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid have vowed to resurrect this “Compromise Amnesty Bill” and news outlets are reporting that another “Grand Compromise” may have been reached on SB 1348.

Whereas recent polling data confirms that the 69% of the voters prefer an approach that focuses exclusively on securing the border and reducing illegal immigration.

Whereas the enforcement only approach is preferred by 84% of Republicans, 55% of Democrats and 69% of the Independent voters. (Rasmussen Reports, June 13, 2007) rasmussenreports

Whereas any bill that does not require those presently residing unlawfully in our country to return home and take their place in line behind those that are following our immigration law is AMNESTY.

We, the members of the Gwinnett County Republican Party, resolve to urge our two great U.S. Senators to once again say no to Sen. Ted Kennedy and the pro amnesty lobby and to vote no on this Amnesty Bill.

Whereas, we resolve to urge Sen. Chambliss and Sen. Isakson to fight to prevent this bill from even coming to the floor for a vote.

Respectfully Submitted,

J. Gregory Howard, Chairman

The Gwinnett County Republican Party

770 925-VOTE (8683)

why the footdragging on the fence?
Since even liberals can't think of a good reason why the border shouldn't be secure, I keep wondering why the Government is dragging its feet on building the fence on the southern border. Exactly who is opposed to it?

Could it be the State Department? I wonder if after the U.S. has gotten slammed in the world press for Abu Ghraib and Camp X-Ray at Gitmo, the State Department fears that putting up a fence around America's southern border will also be a public-relations disaster for America in the eyes of the rest of the world.

Did Bush promise Mexico at some point that we wouldn't ever fence them off?

Ex-tex
"Wafflers?"

Trent Lott is no waffler. He has been consistent in his get-along-with-the-Dems approach ever since he's been in the Senate. The best thing that ever happened to Lott was when he lost his majority leader job. Wake up Mississippi, stop re-electing this guy. Did you hear what he said today? He pulled a Lindsey Graham and said that talk radio, Lou Dobbs and the anti-amnesty crowd need to be silenced, so the Senate can its job. It appears Lott and others have forgotten that their job is to represent Americans, not Mexican nationals.

Mitt says:
Why is Mitt Romney trying to make us believe he's the next Reagan? Mitt says, "We need to make America more attractive for (legal) immigrants"! Why does Mitt believe we need to change America to make it more attractive for immigrants? I guess Freedom and Liberty don't make America attractive enough, according to Mitt. The fact that Mitt Romney has a website in Spanish makes Ann Coulter's point (in her Townhall column) when she writes, "Americans display no evident desire to defend their culture, much less transmit it, and immigrants show no evident desire to adopt it." Legal immigration is just fine, but what about assimilation? Mitt Romney isn't the only one who thinks we need to change and "make America more attractive" for other cultures. So does the Mexican government! What's really interesting is both Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani claim to have better "comprehensive" immigration plans, but in his Townhall column, Fred Thompson writes, " We should scrap this 'comprehensive' immigration bill and the whole debate until the government can show the American people that we have secured the borders".

Virg Pat on America's Future

Well stated, Virginia Patriot.

I'm with you 100%. I've written my Senators, McCain and Kyl, and even that traitor Trent Lott who threatens now to "deal with" radio talk show, which he targets as "running this country."

That was a veiled threat to take on the Fairness Doctrine. BE READY for the fight, or free speech as we know it today will be a thing of history.

They're gunning us down, right and left, blasting away at any semblance of the nation bequeathed to us by our founding fathers. I never thought I'd live to see the day I could write such words.

Rich
It couldn't have been said any plainer. I think the lines are clearly drawn and it's up to us to see that the senate doesn't do this job, and put a big fat frown on Lott's closed mouth.

Trip to the woodshed
It has become abundantly clear to me that the elitest politicians need a trip to the woodshed. They have become so arrogant and secure in their office that they think they know what's best for us dumb citizens. I believe this time they have miscalculated just how far us dumb citizens can be pushed.

The following traitors to the conservative cause must be sent packing the next time they're up for re-election:

McCain
Graham
Martinez
Kyl
Lott (especially him)
McConnell
Spector

They think that we're all going to get amnesia by election time. I know that for myself, and many other conservatives, we won't let that happen.

thoughts
So far Hunter is the clearest of the candidates for the fence. Tancredo also.

When we were kids there was an old joke that ran
Atheist X says God does not exit.
God says Atheist X does not exist.

It reminds me of Trent Lott who definitely needs a trip to the woodshed.
AS far as I am concerned,
Trent Lott says the power of the American people is over.
The American people say the power of Trent Lott is over.

You people commentating are assuming that the action Trent Lott is advocating is legal. Why make that assumption?

SteveL
Everyone assumes that it is corporate interests that want the cheap labor and their replacements when the present illegals become legal and demand higher wages. What I wonder is, could it be the drug smugglers have laundered their exorbitant profits and have bought off our politicians? Drug smugglers are the people with the greatest interest in an unsecure border. The president talks about the 12 million people living in the shadows. Could it be that the drug smugglers with laundered money represent a lobby group lurking in the shadows?

When you read that our border patrol can't speed without prior written permission from their superiors when chasing a drug smuggler, and the punishment for breaking the rule is to go to jail, who other than a drug smuggler wrote that into the procedural manual of the US Border Patrol? This is why we want 2 fences with space between them and not "increased border surveillance" bogged down with stupid rules. It reminds me of my diet. "I am watching my diet." I am watching my weight increase.

Seal the Border
Just about every day Sen. John Warner is getting an e-mail from me telling him to unlink border security and immigration reform. If we get to the point that we know we aren't going to have twenty million more sneeking in we can probably have a much more rational debate about what to do with the illegals already here.

Being lied to about what they plan to do at some point in the future is making me really angry. They fed us a load of cr*p in the eighties about fixing this and they are doing it again.

Good morning patriots
I concure with all ya'll. This illegal alien situation, along with the War On Terror, is the battle of our lifetime. Considering that we are only here for a very short period of time, that makes this issue that much more important.
It is true; all of us can see what the problem is. Illegals can be terrorists just as easily as they can be doing jobs Americans will not do. Of coarse if you bring that up than you are racist. You can have all the best intentions, you want your fellow citizens to be safe and you want your countrymen to not be blown up for no reason. Bigot.
This is the biggest disconnect between the elites and the people that I have ever witnessed. I am almost of the opinion that it is going to take another major attack before we start taking things seriously. I love all people, but within each culture there are good people and there are A-holes. It just so happens that in the Muslim culture the A-holes want to kill you, and it does not matter to them what you think about it. An open border is an open invitation.

This is not a Republican issue, nor a ..
Democrat one. This is about greed, power and control. When will the general public wake from their slumber and realize that we have a power-mad group of individuals; the Clinton's, the Bush's, the Pelosi's, the Reid's, Guliani, Gore, Edwards, their puppetmasters and their suckups; vying to make themselves kings of the earth.

Stop listening to liars like Michael Medved and believe what is right in fron of your eyes that you refuse to see. IF WE ELECT WHO WE ARE TOLD WE CAN ELECT, IT DOESN'T MATTER WHO, AMNESTY WILL HAPPEN TO SET THE STAGE FOR THE MERGER OF THE US, MEXICO AND CANADA, also known as the North American Union through SPP http://www.spp.gov

This is no conspiracy, the power elites are doing this right in front of our eyes with no congressional or public approval. The end result is that our economies will be merged, our judicial system will be under the auspice of the world court AND THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA WILL NO LONGER EXIST.

Regionalism is COMMUNISM and the NORTH AMERICAN UNION we will be a COMMUNIST SUPER-STATE SPANNING FROM ANCHORAGE TO THE PANAMA CANAL.

Wake up and stop bickering, realize that is doesn't matter whether you're republican, democrat, liberal or conservative, there are groups of individuals whose lust for power knows no bounds.

You, we, have to stop this. We can do this by putting absolute fear into these traitors. We can stop this by marching in the streets, voting out these maniacs and by voting in constitutionally minded individuals like Ron Paul http://www.ronpaul2008.com

There is no other choice as the rest are under the control of the puppet-masters.

From that point we can weed out congress by imposing term limits and once and for all, get rid of the tools that are sowing our own demise known as the Federal Reserve and the IRS.

Wake up.......

North American Union & Immigration
I posted this on TH last night and it was erased Let's see if it happens again---------

I was at the March for America rally in DC today, and I heard Andy Gause speak, who wrote "The Secret World of Money". One of the important, if not the most important, reason why Bush, the Dems and Repubs are pushing for the NAU is that SS, Medicare and all the other entitlements are going to reach crisis proportions in the next 4 years when the Baby Boomers begin to retire. The US government doesn't have the money for it, and is hoping that by forming this union, we will be able to use the "cash flow" of Mexico and Canada to help avert the crisis.

The NAU will, in effect, erase the border between the US and Canada and Mexico. We will have a single currency, like Europe. We will have a joint legal system, meaning Americans can be tried in Mexico.

Without borders, the whole illegal immigration issue will become irrelevant, and Mexicans will be free to move into the US and take up residency without restriction. We will eventually become a second rate, corrupt socialist nation just like Mexico. That is the price we will have to pay to keep our entitlement system in the black.

What are you going to do about it???

contempt
Le Coca Roche's outrage at Arnold's suggestion that they learn English reveals their contempt for America's language and culture, and also reveals what we can expect from the other 50 million Le Coca's who intend to come to America.

To kill this treacherous immigration bill, it's head must be cut off.

Re: learning English, you are so right.

Their outrage is so selective. I believe he was responding to a reporter's question on how the kids could improve their grades.

America - A melting pot
ready to boil over?

So amnesty opposition is getting to the good Senator from Mississippi....according to Senator Lott "TALK RADIO IS RUNNING AMERICA. WE HAVE TO DEAL WITH THAT PROBLEM".....Lott thinks American's are the problem because we make our voices heard on talk radio.....?

Well I have news for Senator Lott, he's a big part of the problem........how in hell are American's supposed to get their message communicated when Congress and the entire political apparatus ignores their constituents and the major media are bought and paid for by corporations, liberal left-wingers, and socialist???

Trent Lott is not the only elitist scum-bag in the US Senate that degrades, insults, and looks down on Americans...In reality, America views the "lords" of the senate that prance around the senate floor, slapping each other on the back, making grand pronouncements, passing gas in their ivory tower, accomplishing literally nothing but pain and confusion for America, as nothing more than a political body not worth warm spit.

In the final analysis, this Amnesty Bill that President Bush, Lott, Kennedy, Kyl, McCain and others are pushing is nothing short of a traitorous, treasonous guise to award law-breakers for political advantage which fosters a despicable action to penalize, demoralize, American citizens into submission of our rights to fight for what we believe is right, and give politicians the quasi-dictatorial powers they want to establish near total authority.

As for me, the political elite and their attitude can go to hell, as I will die for my right to call a radio station, write a letter criticizing American leadership, oppose those that illegally enter our nation, and tell them to get the hell out of America and come in the front door...if I had my way, the politicians would go with them...both political parties are "bottom feeders".

I didn't spend my time in the fox-hole for some ignorant politician to imply my voice is "a problem that has to be dealt with". I'm more than disgusted, mad, raging mad, at the arrogance of the President referring to many of us a "bigots", "frightening America", simply because we believe his Amnesty legislation is wrong, dead wrong. Trent Lott and others comment "damn tired of hearing from them" implying the blood, sacrifice, lives, and widows of America are not worthy to have a voice in what the blow-hards in Washington, D.C. are doing.

Apparently the elite in Washington, D.C. can't, won't or don't care about the pulse of America....well, this melting pot, called America is just about ready to "boil over" and when it does it will take more than political assurance to turn off the heat...

The leaders in Washington, D.C. better damn sure take note before it is too late.

Done
This government is done, stick a fork in it. I dropped my party affiliation May 17th, 2007.

I will continue to vote as an independent, and I will vote only for the pro-American candidates. Most of our existing Senators and Representatives don't fall into this category. Neither does our President.

National term limits is an absolute must, we have to get them in place to stop the continuous erosion of our Constitution. If we don't wake up and fight back we will find ourselves without a country one day.

Wayward 1 is absolutely correct, this is about power. The elites are attempting to take what little remains in the peoples hands. Maybe it's time to march on Washington with tons of tar and feathers and run these elitists out of our Capitol.

What's the real deal with this .........
..........amnesty crap? Who are what is behind all this asinine behavior of our senators an' prez?

DESKJOCKEY RESPONDS

If folks had bothered to take the time in ’99 rather than waste time complaining today, a couple of newspaper in TX had archived every article they ever wrote on Bush. I actually read every article in ’98 when I learned he was running. Bush has not deviated one iota from his agenda. He has been the most true to his past history of any politician this country has seen. Open borders was his agenda in TX and he got a large Mexican vote in TX for his pro Mexican stance. So I am dumbfounded why all of a sudden Repubs are angry or confused with Bush. As soon as he got to DC he was right on the borders agenda and one lone voice spoke out on the issue and I'm not promoting him but identifying the lack of concern. He signed the SPP treaty to open the borders in ’10 over a year ago and nobody seemed concerned. Our giver-ment and Mexico is working feverously every day to normalized all the things that will be necessary to make the open borders go smooth in ’10, I see nothing in the media about that, even though big names are on the US committee doing this. We talk about building a wall, but who is going to pay to take it down in '10. Of course they're not spending money on the wall except for token marketing to get scamnesty through.

The folks behind the scamnesty bill is the US Chamber of Congress that wrote the Bill. They went to Repubs that will be decimated in ’08 because Bush 1 and the nomination of Dole drove some conservatives out and for sure when Jorge won the remainder left in droves. To replace that base they need Independent voters and the only way to get them is huge advertising as independents wake up around 6/08 to see the 30 second image making commercials on TV. This will take huge money to lure them in and a vote for scamnesty will get the Chamber money. Will they loose a few TH activist, yes. But they’ll gain thousands upon thousands of Independents who just want to know who is going to spend more on education, health care, raise the min wage, etc.

Oh, please don’t look into the candidates that are running now, please just read the sites like TH, and listen to their marketing sound bites. I still love the Klinton "Man from Hope" marketing piece. A sex predator made to look like the second coming. Yup, money will do the trick for the lost base and scamnesty will raise the money.

I've had enough
Enough of Jorge Bush, Trent Lott, Mel Martinez, Lindsay Graham etc. I will vote for a 3rd party if we dont get primary challanges to these democrat lite pols. A 3rd party allowed Clinton to get elected but it also brought the backlash of the "Contract with America." Sometimes you have to destroy the village in order to save it.(I know you remember that)

Flipping is good
Romney has been attacked as a flip flopper.

Brownback has been an ardent Amnesty supporter in the past but now is very quiet or even anti illegal immigration at times.

Hopefully he has flipped on his pro Amnesty positions and his conversion is pernament.

I do not think Brownback is in a very good position to attack Romney on abortion.

Flipping in the right direction is good.

Independents
Independents hated Amnesty 1 even more that Reps. It is the Moderate Reps and the Clinton Dems who want the Amnesty bill.

The pro business forces will not be able to attract Independents. The Independents know they are being ripped by business on gas prices. They feel that Congress has been sold to the highest bidder.

Yes Bush has been very consistently pro illegal immigration and pro oil. Those were 2 of the downsides, when we choose him over McCain and then Gore and later Kerry. W was the better choice.

At least this time we can reject McCain again and also Hillary. We also have more options in the primary but none of them are without baggage.

Base Making Us a Permanent Minority?
Even though this essay is beautifully done in part, like all discussions on TH of immigration, it misses the point. Republicans who generally favor the immigration bill (I'm one) see the victory of the base as an awful development. Let me explain: in 1964, key Republicans (especially Barry Goldwater) opposed the Civil Right Act. That decision caused us to lose the Black vote, seemingly forever. Apparently, we are doing the same thing with the Hispanic vote. We are offending a large majority of the 44 million American Hispanics, the biggest minority group in America. Somehow, getting great visceral satisfaction from so doing is supposed to be compensation for a political disaster. Why do Tucker and others ignore this rather significant political reality? On my own blog (click on name above), I've been cosidering these inconvenient truths, along with some others. Somehow, the name-calling and sloganeering that have been the responses have convinced me that I'm probably right. As the "base" pats itself on the back, perhaps it might give a moment or two to considering the real issues involved. We are setting ourselves up to be a permanent minority, and that shouldn't be a cause for celebration.

Dumbing down America
Of course Trent Lott hates talk radio. For the same reason he wants to import a third world underclass of impoverished, non-english speaking constituents. When the people can't even understand the language they can do what ever they want without interference from the pesky populace. He wants Americans to stay uninformed. He, like his buddy Bush has turned on the very people who supported him when his own party threw him over. Loyalty is passe.

The Freedom of Migration Act
The Freedom of Migration Act is the only solution to our immigration problem that makes sense.

Read about it at http://www.henrykkowalczyk.com/immigration.htm .

See it at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6i8xbHNCxoU .

Tell me, what is wrong in the Freedom of Migration Act?

Point of View
This "immigration" debate has revealed the contempt that our elected officials hold us in.

When the people of the USA say to the US Congress and the President, "Enforce the law", and the reply we get is, "You're bigots and racists", the system has really jumped the tracks.

So we, the people, are racists and bigots because we want federal law enforced. O.K., I want the IRS to enforce the law.

There. Now the IRS will leave everyone alone.

The All-Stars are out this morning
As always, I appreciate the contributions made by my patriot brothers and sisters today. Harry is right on, and deskjockey and BG are doing their always illuminating due diligence. I of coarse am not interested in changing anyone's minds, I just like to spar with liberals, but they do not seem to be playing along today.
So for you conservatives out there who are swearing off the Republican party forever (and you know who you are), I just want to remind you what happened last November. Remember? A whole bunch of principled conservatives sat out the election so as to injure the party they felt betrayed by for any number of different reasons. What was the result? The democrats now control congress, and are attempting some of the most despicable things in legislative history. So can anybody out there explain to me how in hell it helps us to have democrats running the show? I can understand outrage at the republicans and believe me I share it, but the fact still remains that IF THE REPUBLICANS LOSE ELECTIONS THEN THE DEMOCRATS WIN. It is painful to have to explain this but it is nonetheless necessary. It is a political reality. You do not push back the forces of socialism by sitting out and essentially handing power over to democrats.
I am mad at republicans as well, and my answer is to defeat them electorially in primaries. Or, as BG has so eloquently outlined in previous posts, through the recall process. These are options that are available to us. Please consider these realities the next time you proclaim that you will never vote republican again, because that is a very naive proposition.

If we don't vote repub...
...We could get Hillary, Think about it.

It is your choice, just don't complain if you do not vote.

Trent Lott, an enemy of America!
The arguments supporting the amnesty bill are jokes. The proponents argue with a straight face that nothing will happen until the borders are secured and then it will take an illegal 13 years to get citizenship.

What is never really explained in these arguments is that an unknown number of illegals will be "legalized" right after the bill is signed. The is the Z-visa provision. This could range from 12 to 30 million.

And still they argue that nothing will happen until triggers are met in securing the border.

What is really puzzling to me is why so-called conservatives like Trent Lott are supporting what is clearly a bad bill that is very harmful to America. What is his motivation? The only conclusion I can make is that it is self-serving, probably connected to the support he receives from his coporate masters. It seems that he is willing to sell out his country in order to continue to feather his nest. How jaded is that?
And he obviously wants to shut down any arguments against the bill by threatening junior senators and talk radio. Lott has been in the congress for 33 years and represents a very strong argument for term limits.

HankRearden
Very well said, and you are right. For Republicans -- moderates, conservatives, uber right -- to swear they won't vote Republican is to virtually hand a vote to a Democrat. Personally, I think the recall process is to arduous to engage in, at least for me, but I certainly agree with your statements about working in the primaries. Way too many people only get involved after the party candidate is selected, not before.

The absolute worst Republican is no worse than a Dem. Maybe not better, granted, but no worse. I think we are in that situation right now with George. While I'm not happy with the Republican line-up, personally I won't vote third party. I won't hand a victory to the Democrats, nor even one v ote. The moderates and conservatives need to identify (and work for) a candidate who is: 1) electable; 2) gives each voter somewhere between 50 and 75% of what they want. No one candidate will give anyone 100% -- but if I can find someone who is about 65 or 70% of the way there, for me personally, I'll vote for him.

Meanwhile, Tucker's article is full of stellar info and sentiments that all of us can use to fill yet ANOTHER round of communication to Senators countrywide (some of it almost verbatim). We absolutely must keep up the onslaught of communication to elected officials.

HankRearden writes:
"IF THE REPUBLICANS LOSE ELECTIONS THEN THE DEMOCRATS WIN"

We the People lose if either win. What don't you understand here? There is absolutely no difference between the Republican or Democrat machine.

Hank, if you take the high road and I take the low road we still wind up in the same place. It doesn't matter who ends up as our next president as long as the DNC and the GOP determine the outcome. There is only one party in America and they are driving us in one direction, that being the NAU.

Stop voting for who the elitists are telling you "who you can vote for"

The answer to this lies in voting for people who defend our Constitution.

For real
I saw something on Michelle Malkin yesterday, I tried it and it was true. I went to trentlott.com,and it goes to Move on.Org. I tried it three times yesterday, and again this morning, Ironic don't you think?

Arby
Thank you. I aggree that the recall process is arduous but it also can be a very effective tool for shaking up the very people all of us are unhappy with. BG has done some amazing work on this, and I would certainly be on board to get the ball rolling and get the attention of some of these blow-hards in both (out)houses of congress. If we can effect these guys just by calling and writing emails, we can really put fear in their hearts with an organized, national recall effort. Yes it would be difficult, but then again nothing worth anything in life comes easy.
In either event, what we really do need is an influx of truly conservative candidates to challenge the Trent Lotts of the world, both in a primary campaign or in a potential recall.

People keep asking "why?" ...here's why:

Immigration reform and conservative bias
To all my fellow conservatives:

Just why do you love the present system so much that you refuse to look at any of the good changes in the proposed immigration reform bill?

Do you like the fact that employers are prohibited from checking the papers given them by prospective employees? Or the fact that even if the latter were allowed, we have no accurate data base for them to use? Or that our present system encourages migrant workers to stay here when they would prefer to return home on a seasonal basis. Perhaps you like the fact that we cannot presently identify the millions of people who are here because we have no system for doing so, just a catch as catch can followed by the wonderful catch and release program which allows the immigrant to turn around and walk right back in. Do you like the present system of letting every relative of an immigrant family join them in America? That's how my grandmother got here but we no longer can afford to encourage that kind of immigration. Should we just keep that policy for old time's sake?

Amnesty is an unconditional pardon. Crossing the border is a misdemeanor, not a felony. Sorry, Rush, Laura, Sean, the punishment you want to serve for this offense is worse that that given to drug dealers. You not only wish to take away the jaywalkers house and job, you want to send him back to a country where he no longer belongs or perhaps separate him from his children who may be citizens.

Even if we were able to get employers to stop hiring illegals, this would only force the most desperate underground. The president wants to be able to identify those illegals in this country, separate the wheat from the chaff, make sure the chaff can never enter this country again. And the utter hypocrisy of conservatives that there are legal workers in this country that can make up for the illegals we could force out - in an economy with 4.5% unemployment. All of the migrant workers cannot be replaced unless we can force some of these worthless liberal college professors to get out there and get some exercise during their summer hiatus. You might like the idea of union workers without competition but if you are building a house, good luck to you. Generally speaking, suddenly enforcing immigration laws, even on a piecemeal basis, which is all we have the manpower for, would be catastrophic for our economy.

You have successfully reiterated all the cliches of the rigid right on this issue without actually providing any workable solution at all. Do we really want to force this issue forward to the time when conservatives may have no check on what happens in an immigration bill? Just picture Obama or Clinton in charge. What would we get then?

Lenin Said It
"When it comes time to hand the capitalists, they will vie with one another to sell us the rope."

This illegal immigration mess proves Lenin right. The capitalists and their politician lackeys will allow the country to be destroyed for a few more bucks.

Any politician voting for this amnesty bill is voting against Our America.

Remember, in '08, how your politicians voted.

Do not reelect them, no matter what they promise if they voted for this bill. They are like a pedophile. They will molest you and then they will offer you ice cream or a cookie....to shut up and go on.

wayward1
No kidding. What you have to understand is that one of these parties are going to win, it is as simple as that. What part of that don't YOU understand. To say there is no difference between the two parties is to be shockingly ignorant of reality. Tell me, when republicans controlled congress how many times did they hold up spending bills for our military during a time of war? In fact, were it not for the republicans in the house last year this amnesty bill that we are all so mad about now would have already happened. The republicans by and large were tremendously disappointing in their inability to enact conservative legislation, but that is still a damn sight better than straight socialists ruling the roost. Republicans being unable to cut your taxes is different than the democrats raising your taxes. This has got to be the most obvious truth of contemporary political life and it baffles me that people like you refuse to understand.

Americans have been raped....
We have been raped and gang b*nged by our low life scumbags in Washington....

"We are setting ourselves up to be a permanent minority, and that shouldn't be a cause for celebration."

Frankly, who cares if we're a minority if this legislation passes? There will no longer be an America anyway.

It will be a balkanized, socialist sh@thole.....like europe today.

Rule of law will have been marginalized (why should I pay my taxes if illegals are being forgiven theirs??) and the specialness of being "an American" will be meaningless.

But gee, at least you won't be called a racist or nativist eh? (a liberal's biggest fear).

Ann
I hear ya, but you are missing a crucial aspect of this whole mess. As soon as the president signs this bill, evey one of illegals become legal. Whether you want to call it amnesty or not it is still rewarding people who have broken our laws, show no interest in learning our language or adjusting to our culture, and are a major drain on our current welfare state/health care system.
I am not happy with the current system either, but I have a very different idea as to how to fix the problem. If you wish, click on my name and you can read my very detailed plan for comprehensive immigration reform.
This business about not being able to replace the workers who do work that Americans will not do is a crock. I am a white dude. In my time I have hung drywall, installed flooring, worked countless hours in kitchens, and I currently am a landscaper, along with a few other things. I do and have done work that others have told me Americans will not do, and I am as American as they come. We do not need a permanent underclass to do menial labor. What we need is a dissolution of the current entitlement mentality by way too many Americans that prevents them from doing these jobs in lieu of a welfare check.
I love ya sister, I just disagree with you on this one.

On contacting Congress...
You have to expect that once a Senate aide figures out the posture of your
letter/e-mail, s/he sends you the programmed response that will best stroke you. D'ont worry about that --> they DO track the humor/tenor of the letters, and that gets conveyed to the Senators.

It is NOT true, as some allege, that it is pointless to write and call people in Congress. While there is NO QUESTION that they are more swayed by the $ and lobbying of the organized special interests, they ARE noting that the wrath among the voters is on the other side. This explains the disconnect between what they are trying to cram down on us and surveys of the American people which show that enforcement is the priority among 72% of us:

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/just_26_favor_senate_immigration_plan

Cong. Peter King (R-N.Y.) and others noted that it was Middle America which killed Scamnesty in the House last year. All Congressmen must seek re-election every 2 years, so they are more conscious of the righteous indignation in the voting booths than the Senators who are elected for 6-year terms.

I urge anyone reading this to see the listing in this thread (EX-TEX posts) of the waffling Senators per Lou Dobbs, Laura Ingraham and others (or go just below to link for list of the "flippin' 15"). We should ALL CALL OR E-MAIL them, even if we are not their constituents. If you want guidance on what is best to say, go right here:

See the list of the wishy washy "flippin' 15" Senators... they also have targeted e-mails/faxes you can send free here.

If you want to go directly to the Senators' OFFICIAL web sites, you can do so here... you are just a few clicks away:

America's VERY SURVIVAL is at stake... DON'T SIT IDLE AND WAIT for others to take simple steps that YOU can take to let the voice of freedom be heard. Modern America CANNOT BENEFIT on balance from the importation of the uneducated, indigent, willfully culturally disparate. Per Heritage, we can ONLY benefit net from educated, skilled, LEGAL immigrants, who we definitely need.

We will morph into the third world barrio that these wretched souls are trying to escape if we so not stanch their unbridled tsunami flow, aided and abetted by the Conspiracy Of Evil. The lifeboat will founder, and your children will be burdened with bilingualism, balkanization, myriad social pathologies (crime, drugs, illegitimacies, dropouts, multiculturalism, gangs, barrio blight) and a monster welfare state. The only thing we have to fear is inaction in the face of government too often by and for the special interests (the Conspiracy Of Evil) which is not in sync with the CLEAR will of Middle America. Naysaying, cognitively challenged gadflies such as you are simply along for the ride to remind us to remain motivated-- thanks for playing the iconclastic court jester, amigo!

Vote them Out
So we vote the traitors out what good will it do when the damage has already been done? Once traitor Jorge signs this Bill it's over!! To late to close the Barn Door when the horses are running down the road. The politcians know this and if they can just get this bill passed Jorge I understand has promised them cushy unelected Judgeships. Our only hope is to work on the House, they seem to have a little more sense than the Senate.

Also why are the only two Republican candidates who are against amnesty barely making a showing in the Polls? Tom Tancredo and Duncan Hunter are for enforcing our laws but they don't have the money to get their message out. I have yet to figure out what is really behind Jorge's big push for amnesty, but you can bet your sweet rear end it not in our best interests. I feel it's his insane passion to get open Borders.

robert
What on earth are you talking about. Now I realize who the "dumbell" was named after.

I saw nothing in pro bono's post that even resembled your ignorant blather!!

And what civil rights are you talking about? Cicil rights in this country, are for Legal U.S. citizens.Which none of these criminals are.

Trent Lott and ilk are traitors, and I'm sure will be treated as such come election time, or where the law applies, "recall" day.

You constantly accuse us of fear. Well you ignoratnt nincompoop, wake up and smell the roses. At least we have enough sense to fear that we are on the verge of losing our country to the likes of you, and it is good for you and others to be afraid, very afraid, of a raging crowd of 'fearful" people.

@ Ann
"To all my fellow conservatives"

LOL...you are not a conservative. Nice try....not.

There is no "good" in this bill. It is completely unenforceable.

Do you realize that most of its provisions begin with "subject to funding"?

"Subject to funding" has been Congress' "out" on any bill that it wants to deceive the public about: pass the bill, let the media trumpet it, never fund it, don't have to do it, and the media will never report it.

Q.E.D.

What's REALLY pissing off Jorge, Kennedy, Reid, Lott, Graham, etal, is that the Internet is exposing them like they never were before....this is nothing new for Congress (see the 2006 build-the-fence bill that passed overwhelmingly, yet only eleven---eleven!---miles of fencing have been built out of the 700+ authorized).

Three of the 1993 WTC bombers got 1986 amnesty.

The scum who killed innocent people while waiting to turn into the CIA applied for '86 amnesty, but was turned down. BUT, since there was no tracking in place, he just stayed. Long enough to murder.

This bill states it will add all of these things and really, really, REALLY!, enforce the laws THIS TIME...("hehehe, you foolish citizens")....but fool us once, shame on you...you know the rest.

This bill needs to be shelved. Build the '06 fence. Then we'll be happy to discuss these immigration concerns.

Jorge Bush has purposely left the border open for years in order to get us to this point....where he now thinks there is "no choice" for us Americans...but the joke will be on him and all the Senators that have been part of this shamnesty legislation (Warner, Webb, I'm talking to you too!).

This Must be the Twilight Zone
Bush spits in his base's face and stands next to Teddy Kennedy talking in Spanish at a Hispanic breakfast.
Trent Lott, who got on his hands and knees in front of Black Entertainment Television during the Strom Thurmond fiasco, attacks and says we must do something about conservative talk radio.
That utter boob, Lindsay Graham, calls his own voters names and says we must do something about the "loud people" speaking about against this bill.
The Senate is about to force through an immigration bill opposed by 79% of the American people according to the latest Rasmussen poll.
This can't be happening, this must be the twilight zone.
Everyone supporting this bill must be made extinct come election time. This scum must be "rewarded" for trying to destroy our country.

Tom Tancredo
Did anyone notice that tom Tancredo got a bill, (A bipartisan bill) passed in the house yesterday, that will take away all DHS funds from the Sancturary cities such as New York, San Francisco, etc.? It's certainly a good start.

Lets hope that Senators look at what's going on in the real world.

Robert
I would refute your "argument", but I am not exactly sure just what it is you have a problem with. Maybe you could try again; name for me anything in my post that is either untrue or misleading, because I am genuinely curious. I am not trying to spread fear to anyone, and my analysis is as real as it gets. But hey, if I am wrong, then why don't you go right ahead and put me in my place?

My strategy for Monday starting w/ Lott:

With DC Senate phones oftentimes busy (or on the answering machine), on Monday I'm going to start contacting my Senators' *local District Offices*.

I guarantee you I will get someone live and (politely, always politely for more effect folks) express my outrage at my Senators' support of this bill.

I will also contact Lott's offices and let them know how regular Americans feel about Lott's suppport of amnesty for illegal immigrants (and yes, it's amnesty). Word on the street is that Lott is wavering and his staff "is freaking out" from our calls. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK! (Roberto, you can continue to press 1 for English on Monday).

You can find the phone #s for your Senator's local offices by going to their websites. Find them here (thanks to a previous poster for this great website!):

http://www.congressmerge.com/onlinedb/index.htm

Rest up people....Monday the fight re-starts, and even more furiously....Let's Roll!

Artful Myths about ILLEGAL Aliens
Have you noticed that when advocates and apologists for ILLEGALS state their cases that they seem vacuous, lame and facile on the surface? Consider:

DISINGENUOUS FALSE PREMISES, MYTHS AND SCARE TACTICS:

The "undocumented" are just doing jobs that Americans won't do that we must have done... they give more than they take back-- they are a net positive... they pay into S.S. funds they will not get back... they have lesser rates of crime than legal Americans... they simply want to share in the blessings of America just like the
rest of us, which they have every right to do... resentment against them is racist/xenophobic-- they are really no different from prior waves of immigrants who were also resented, but who assimilated and made America great... they want
to assimilate and learn English... the proposed legislation is not really amnesty... Americans generally believe in a path to citizenship for those already here... we cannot simply round up and deport 12-20 million... the only crime they have committed is akin to jaywalking.

DEMYTHOLOGIZING REALITIES & INCONVENIENT TRUTHS:

1) ILLEGALS ARE INDEED taking many jobs that Americans will gladly do, driving down wages, and permeating myriad concomitant social pathology problems (crimes, barrio blight, drugs, gangs, illegitimacies, dropouts, balkanization, diseases) like an infestation of fire ants or killer bees.

2) ILLEGAL aliens simply do NOT contribute more than they take, because the government services alone used by the uneducated indigent GREATLY EXCEED any minimal taxes paid (mostly sales taxes, etc.). Heritage calculates that each household headed by the undereducated indigent (legal OR ILLEGAL) will drain over $1 million in the course of a lifetime:

http://www.heritage.org/Research/Immigration/wm1076.cfm

3) Presidente Jorge has already committed to send unfunded and already threatened S.S. funds south to Mexico, and ILLEGALS would become eligible much sooner than American taxpayers... Gaucho Jorge promised THEM while visiting in Mexico recently that he would work for THEM on this Scamnesty legislation! That is TREASON-- PURE AND SIMPLE!

4) Latino rates of crime and other inimical social pathologies are, sadly, pandemically troublesome (the reasons are irrelevant to this discussion really-- facts are stubborn things), and worse among the poorer ones like most coming in ILLEGALLY (more than half have only a 7th grade education, assuring the snowballing of the associated social problems):

http://www.amren.com/Reports/Hispanics/HispanicsReport.htm
http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=M2Q5ZWZiOTU2OTY1YWEyZDFiYTliNTRmMzk0ODIwMmE
http://www.immigrationshumancost.org/index.html

5) They are NOT "just like prior waves of immgrants" in several ways... there are far more at once, there is no ocean separating them from the old cultures, they are clinging to same with no desire to assimilate, and the PC/multicultural
ilk is aiding and abetting their ethnocentricity with bilingualism. Furthermore, America is a VASTLY different nation socio-economically thanit was when many LEGAL immigrants came here historically-- we can benefit on balance today ONLY FROM EDUCATED, SKILLED IMMIGRANTS, which is NOT the norm among the great unwashed running across the border.

6) The pending Scamnesty is PRECISELY that, and the all-in implications are HORRENDOUS fiscally and socio-economically:

http://www.firesociety.com/article/12134/

7) Americans are rightfully indignant about the nonfeasance of the govt. which has allowed the ILLEGAL invasion to become an infestation. It is NOT that we are afraid of diversity as Presidente Jorge lamely and disingenuously opined-- we
already are the most diverse nation on earth! Ad hominem braying about "racism" is the calumny of artful scoundrels. When polled HONESTLY, Americans rightfully have profound concerns about unbridled immigration, especially ILLEGAL
invaders... per Rasmussen, "(72%) OF VOTERS say that it is VERY IMPORTANT for the government to improve its enforcement of the borders and REDUCE ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION":

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/just_26_favor_senate_imm
igration_plan
http://www.cis.org/articles/2006/back906.html
http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=20530
http://www.grasstopsusa.com/

8) The artful ploy that "we cannot deport 12 million" is a false argument-- TRUE enforcement of EXISTING LAWS would result in attritive repatriation at THEIR expense-- the same way they got here... we need only the political will to
reflect the desires of over 70% of Middle America.

9) The facile, remote "elitist" PC theories of bilingualism and multiculturalism are doomed to failure. Even in countries with essentially the same ethnicity and culture, bilingualism alone creates crises. Multiculturalism is an abysmal
failure everywhere. There can be no "melting pot" with these plagues.

10) As to scurrilous Geraldo-ilk suggestions that "these good people" are committing minor crimes akin to jaywalking in crossing the border, this is but the first of what become serial patterns of lawbreaking including tax dodging, identity fraud, welfare cheating, etc., ad nauseam. Even eunuch Chertoff admits that at least 2 million are felonious criminals! [Since he admits to 11 million ILLEgALS being here, he is suggesting that fully 18% are guilty of felonies!] To
suggest that they are less prone to serious crimes is simply a bold-faced lie!

GPC007
My friend, this is exactly what to expect when a bunch of principled conservatives sit out elections. Democrats win and all of this craziness is soon to follow. It ought to be a lesson for all of us but sadly I know that their are conservatives out there that just can't bring themselves to vote republican. Hopefully they will figure it out before it is too late.

National Suicide?
Pat Buchanan and others make the point that this amnesty bill is just another step towards globalism, starting first with the North American Union. Bush, without any approval from the congress, has entered into agreements with Mexico and Canada to connect all three countries with super-highways and railroads to facilitate the movement of commerce and people. To take advantgage of this, China is building a $multibillion auto manufactering plant in Tijuana to export cars to the U.S. duty free. With the passage of time, it becomes very clear that this movement towards globalism cannot succeed without the death of the American republic.
And what is really outrageous is that many of the U.S. senators are not only going along with this sell out, but are facilitating it. To citizens opposing the amnesty bill, Senator Graham has said, "We're gonna tell the bigots to shut up." Bush says that opponents to the amnesty bill are unpatriotic and "don't want to do what's right for America." MANY other proponents of the bill say those opposed to it are "anti-immigrant."
We are clearly in a life or death struggle for America.

Not the Twilight Zone, this is "why"....
I posted this earlier.

For you folks "wondering why"....wondering "why" Jorge, etal could be for this, it's all explained by Congressman Rohrbacher(sp?) here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alwQNZAa8Gg

Like the Congressman, I just with Jorge and the Amnesty Senators would have at least have been upfront with the American people about this (of course, then it wouldn't have passed, so that's why the backroom deals).

This is not another "Civil Rights Act" vote deal.....this is the transformation of our continent and our country....thanks Jorge!

thanks Graham!
thanks Warner!
thanks McCain!
thanks Lott!
thanks Webb!

NOT!

Monday people...this time, WE are starting the revolution.

@ GPC007

c'mon! This would never be an issue without Jorge Bush's vociferous support!

We did NOT sit out in '04.

Quit crying about strawman issues and start dialing on Monday!

You're wong Steve,...
...the common misconception that Republicans lost the black vote because they did not support the Civil Rights Act of 1964 IS JUST NOT TRUE! This act did pass with Republican help that countered the Southern Democrat segregationists resistance. The vote totals for the passage of this bill is 80% yea for Republicans at the time. It would have failed without Republican support.

Barry Goldwater voted "no" for other reasons than race. He had seen what "Uncle Sugar" could do to a minority by his association with the Hopi Indians of Arizona. Goldwater did not want to see blacks on a reservation, or back on the plantation. Which the pictures of Hurricane Katrina so eloquently demonstrated and proved Goldwater's premonitions correct of what the act, as it was written, would do to blacks.

Steve, how in the hell did Republicans voting 80% FOR the Civil Rights Act of 1964 lose Republicans the black vote? YOU boggle the mind!

The fact is the black vote was already gone in 1960. With the election of JFK - and the emotion of his assassination - the Democrats put the blacks right back in the Democrat Party and back on the plantation.

Now, your argument that those of us who are against this Bush "comprehensive" immigration reform will lose the "Latino Vote" is totally wrong. The fact is we never had the Latino vote in the first place and we're not going to get by pandering to Latinos, as you are wont to do, either.

Look, Steve, my wife is a Mexican. A real Mexican. She was born in Mexico and came here when I married her. She is still a Mexican citizen (she is free to be whatever she wants). She knows immigrant politics a lot better than you ever will. Her opinion is that no matter what Republicans do to lure the "Latino Vote", Latinos will vote Democrat. Period. In her experienced opinion, the biggest worry that America has is the mis-interpretation of the 14th. Amendment. It's the equivalent of an immigrants baby not needing "no badges" to steal US citizenship.

Take a pill, Steve, and try to seem intelligent on another subject. You just have not grasped the substance of this one.

Sorry GPC007....

....should have been @HankRearden.

Where's the Edit button? :)

The Border Fence
The Mexican Border Fence should consist of "re-deployed" National Guardsmen armed with bull horns and AK-47's with explecit orders to stop, detain, and repatriate illegal aliens to their country(s).

Hillary
Said in a speech yesterday that she admires President Bush, and Kennedy. She admires their bipartisan effort for this bill. Made me gag.
In other word she admires Bush for selling out his party, and helping the Dems. destroy it.

Lodestar, as usual, you're totally right.

You too Pro bono.

Right on Rich!
We need plain simple logic like this in office.

Those of us opposed to this bill will need to keep the pressure up till Bush is out of office and replaced with someone who is willing to consider our national first.

And we need to make sure those in Washington up for re-election hear us.

Anyone up for election in 08 that votes for this bill should be removed from office.

Anyone up for re-election and votes against this bill gets our support.

Perpetrators of this Bill
If the unthinkable happens and this bill becomes a reality, heres what those who gave it to us will be doing.
Bush will be out of office and probably will be working as a lobbyist for the Saudis or the Mexican government. (Actually I think he already started working for Mexico, hes certainly not working for the American people.)
Hopefully Chappaquiddick Teddy will eventually succumb to cirrhosis of the liver and will have a throne waiting for him in hell.
The disgusting RINOs like Graham, Specter, Lott, McCain, etc. will be out of office and contacting Representative Jefferson about the correct temperature for putting money in the freezer.
Meanwhile, our children will be working 12 hour days just to pay the taxes for the entitlements of the families of the illegal aliens who we know are just coming here to do the jobs "that Americans won't do."
And contrary to what that miserable RINO, Linda Chavez, says, they still won't be speaking English.

A SLAP IN THE FACE

This newest immigration reform (that's a laugh), SCHEME is a better word, is

A SLAP IN THE FACE TO ALL LAW-ABIDING AMERICANS.

I've thought the same as Techpro, about what passing this law will do to the American psyche regarding respect for the rule of law:

I paraphrase. Why the Sam H*** should I pay MY taxes if illegals are forgiven theirs?

I add,
We either enforce the current d*** law and FUND ITS PROVISIONS --- IMMEDIATELY --- OR ALL H*** WILL BREAK LOOSE.

THE ONLY TALK TAKING PLACE IN WASHINGTON ABOUT IMMIGRATION MUST BE ON "doing what we promised the American people we would do."

Isn't it ironic that our reps in D.C. keep harping on how the current immigration law just isn't working?

Well DUHHHH -- YOU GUYS ARE DRAGGING YOUR FEET ON ENFORCEMENT IF NOT OUTRIGHT REFUSING TO ENFORCE THE LAWS YOU PASSED.

No wonder it doesn't work.

Bush,Clinton,Bush,Clinton,Bush
First 4 years of George H.W. Bush as President who gets suckered by the Dems into raising taxes and loses to Clinton.
Next 8 years of non-stop corruption with the Clintons including the selling-out of our nuclear secrets to the Chinese for campaign contributions.
Now 8 years of George W. Bush who stabs his core voters in the back and sells out the soverignty of his nation to invaders from another country, the lowest of the low.
Next, if we are unlucky, 4 (or 8) years of Hillary who will turn us into a socialist state.
And then perhaps Jeb Bush will decide its his turn and all those wonderful illegal aliens given amnesty by his despicable brother can show their appreciate.
We have a lot to look forward to if the American people do not rise up and kill this amnesty bill now.

Bush Urges Hispanics to
SPEAK UP
By Stephen Dinan

President Bush yesterday told Hispanics to step into the middle of the immigration debate and make sure senators who have been bombarded with calls from opponents also hear from those who support the bill.

Friends and compatriots, I just went over to the Washington Times website to search for a journalist's name whose quote I had wanted to share with you. And I saw the above headline.

Now it's WAR. I will never forgive Bush, and except for this issue and the Medicare drug bill, I have supported him loyally -- BEEN WILLING TO GIVE HIM THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT.

Now he's TOAST.

It's time to transform our democracy...
back into what it was intended to be: no longer a government of the pampered congressmen, paid for by the lobbyists who pervert the process for the benefit of greedy special interests, but a government truly of the people, by the people, and for the people.

I will not vote for whomever the MSM tells me I can vote for. I will vote my conscience and vote in the only person who understands our Constitution.

That person is Ron Paul http://www.ronpaul2008.com

If you vote for any other MSM candidate you are voting for the end of the United States, period.

techpro
Hey dude, I am not crying about anything. The House blocked this thing last year, despite El Presidente's wishes. Had conservatives not sat out LAST NOVEMBER'S elections, we likely would have held onto the house and senate and would therefore be in a better position to fight this. Quite frankly, I am very proud of my fellow conservatives for stopping this thing now. It truly is a remarkable achievement; the house is against us, the senate is against us, the president is against us, and yet we are actually winning. They condescend to us, and we steadfastly fight for our nation. God must be on our side in this, or, more likely, we are on His side.

Stop the ILLEGAL invading horde!
Make those calls and send those e-mails to Congress, folks! [Please see my long post at 12:05 p.m. with further tips/advice about talking points for your Senators and Congresspersons.]

Now IS the time for all good Americans to come to the aid of their country! Contact your folks in Congress ASAP and tell them to listen to Middle America. You can reach them EASILY right here at their OFFICIAL sites:

http://www.congressmerge.com/onlinedb/index.htm

Let freedom ring out-- often! Time is short, and the pending scamnesty legislation could make or break the very future of America as we have known it for over 200 years. That so-called cheap labor is nothing of the sort all-in. Furthermore, 72% of Americans think the most important need BY FAR, is enforcement, NOT the naturalization of the great invading horde of the undereducated, indigent, socially disparate:

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/just_26_favor_senate_immigration_plan

Let's not lose the many things that have made America great and uniquely successful for so many to the Conspiracy of Evil --> miscreant employers, Chamber lobbies and other open border, NAU, free trade advocates; ethnocentric/racist latino groups bent on the Reconquista; the anti-America, PC, Big Brother entitlement government left; scandal-plagued church leaders seeking replacement contributors; corrupt plutocratic (govt. by the wealthy few) Mexican government interests seeking to make America the welfare department for Mexico's poor; vote and money-grubbing pols.

We must not allow the lifeboat to founder by allowing ILLEGAL immgration and visa violations by those who can only be net users of resources... ONLY the educated and skilled can be a net positive to an advanced service economy like modern America. There can be no more melting pot if bilingualism and multiculturalism are allowed to spoil the brew-- the pot will simply melt down into a balkanized barrio third world welfare state entitlement government.

This is BY FAR the best pro-America lobbying site where you can select prepared e-mails to send and learn how to engage in other ways to save your country... bookmark it and get engaged! :

Outsourcing the future

is the title of Mark Steyn's 6-11-07 National Review Happy Warrior column.

Here's what he has to say about the Dems motivations:

"On the whole, the Left is better at immigration math than the Right.

They know, for example, that the 'fast track to citizenship' pitch is bunk.

They don't need citizens: Congressional districting is based not on citizens or votes but on (legal) residents, and a gazillion amnesties will be enough to give the demographically weakened Democratic precincts a huge windfall come the next apportionment."

wayward1
yeah and Ron Paul is the same guy who said in a national debate that the reason 9/11 happened is because we were bombing Iraq for ten years. Go ahead and vote for him if you want but you could just as easily vote for Santa Claus, Ronald McDonald, Elvis, or the Harlem Globetrotters and have the same impact.

EXCELLENT... agree entirely! We have terribly misplaced priorities. The neoCONS lamely speak of fighting them over there so we won't have to fight them here, even as the REAL THREATS overstay visas and sashay across the border.

Presidente Jorge has a lot of gall trying to con us with a vacuous promise to spend more on border security and enforcement. He has his shills [Carlos Gutierrez, the feckless eunuch Chertoff, Martinez-- the RNC chief (Rino Network for reConquista)] say that the Scamnesty Bill is really about national security-- they can sell that disingenuous tripe to the Polish Navy! HOGWASH! There might be 20 million here ILLEGALLY, and Jorge is going to suddenly get shocked like Inspector Reneau that there are many among them (even Chertoff says 2 MILLION) with felony profiles and others with militant Islamic agendas?!

Charity begins at home, and so should REAL national security-- get our military home ASAP and put them on the damm border! The REAL threat to America is already everywhere among us and still hemorrhaging in because we have a quisling idiot in the W.H. who has violated his oath of office and is eaten up with a misguided NAU/open borders/"cheap labor" mindset. Presidente Jorge would have us tuck the invaders in at night, even as he promises them down in Mexico to work for THEM on immigration "reform" HERE. That is TRAITOROUS-- purely and simply.

Nanna
Is this the self same Billary that two or three weeks ago was telling the whole world what a scum Bush is? My, how politics makes strange bedfellows! What total BS!

I called
I spent some time yesterday calling all the
kinglets on the wobbly list. Most phones were busy or voice mail filled but I talked to two,
my own Sen. which surprised me. His office is usually difficult to reach while the other one
is usually the one that I can talk to a human being. It either means that you all and thousands of others were causing the lines to smoke or they'd rigged the phones so we couldn't get through. I've worked getting petitions signed for a recall of that same Sen. I reached
back in the 90's. He's still among us but we weren't short by many names. That's the main thing, if you do work on re call, you gotta hit
the pavement and get more than enough.
I hope and pray you all are successful. I agree
they all may not succeed but it surely can scare
the daylights out of them if they know people around the country are attempting to recall.
And that goes for impeachment, some say it won't succeed, but does it have to? What it can do
is awaken more people, because an impeachment process makes news. It can cause the sleeping giant to stir and ask questions. Same thing with recalls.

Welcome to the fight, Darcy! I voted for Dubya twice as the presumed lesser evil, but the lies and deceptions have simply continued to reek! We got tax cuts and 2 SCOTUS appointments, BUT the rest has been detrimental. Scamnesty would FOREVER ruin America, and Presidente Jorge is the Quisling-In-Chief advocate!

Make sure!
Make sure that your Senator is in the KILL BILL Caucus!

http://osi-speaks.blogspot.com/2007/06/immigration-amnesty-bill-update-and.html#links

READ SECTION 117 OF S. 1348
This may help to explain the push (thank you, govtrack): http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=s110-1348

"(b) Cooperation Regarding Education on Immigration Laws- The Secretary of State, in cooperation with other appropriate Federal officials, shall work with the appropriate officials from the Government of Mexico to carry out activities to educate citizens and nationals of Mexico regarding eligibility for status as a nonimmigrant under Federal law to ensure that the citizens and nationals are not exploited while working in the United States.

(c) Cooperation Regarding Circular Migration- The Secretary of State, in cooperation with the Secretary of Labor and other appropriate Federal officials, shall work with the appropriate officials from the Government of Mexico to improve coordination between the United States and Mexico to encourage circular migration, including assisting in the development of economic opportunities and providing job training for citizens and nationals in Mexico.

(d) Consultation Requirement- Federal, State, and local representatives in the United States shall consult with their counterparts in Mexico concerning the construction of additional fencing and related border security structures along the international border between the United States and Mexico, as authorized by this title, BEFORE THE COMMENCEMENT" (emphasis mine) "of any such construction in order to--

(1) solicit the views of affected communities;

(2) lessen tensions; and

(3) foster greater understanding and stronger cooperation on this and other important security issues of mutual concern."

******** And, GET THIS:

"(e) Annual Report- Not later than 180 days after the date of enactment of this Act, and annually thereafter, the Secretary of State shall submit to Congress a report on the actions taken by the United States and Mexico under this section."

******** So, not only is this bill a complete sell-out to Mexico, it's WELFARE FOR MEXICANS, and for the governments of Belize and Guatemala (section 114) and it means we can't even BUILD fence other than the 370 "strategic" miles specified in section 106 until Sec. Rice has "consulted" with Mexican officials (part D), and she's got 6 months from date of passage to submit a report on THAT (part E). So then we are how close to the elections?

Yes, Mr. President, READ THE BILL. This is AMNESTY first, security LAST. Build the whole fence NOW.

radio/internet
It is interesting that among all the conservatives on radio to which I have listened and columns that I've read, only Medved is volunteering to continue to be the water carrier for the GOP. I wonder what he will do when the GOP and the dems conspire to pass the fairness doctrine to kill talk radio and the internet, and to kill free speech.

It's time for Atlas to Shrug
Don'cha just feel GREAT going to work, having the Federal government taking its chunk of your pay, and sending it south to educate Mexicans on how to come to America and remain Mexican.

I just finished re-reading "Atlas Shrugged", and I'm telling ya, it's eerie how she described the deal-making between the boardrooms and the government.

From Bill Whittle:
"The biggest losers in our inability to control illegal immigration are the legal immigrants. What benefit do these honest people gain from playing by the rules? This is as clear a real-world example as you are likely to see of the lack of retaliation flipping a system from cooperation to betrayal.

And, by allowing this to happen, you also set a precedent, which I think is even more destructive: you are saying not only to the illegals but to the entire society that laws are for chumps. Cheaters win. How much of this do we need to be immersed in before everyone realizes the smart move is to flip from cooperation to betrayal? How much damage does it do when the very people sworn to uphold the law – uphold the rules that allow this amazing cooperation game to continue -- are the ones who seem most enthusiastic to reward cheating? Finding out the cops are in on the crime is enough to drive even the most stout-hearted person to despair.

A steady diet of this message is not going to end well."

But read the rest, for a real breath of fresh air (Thanks, Bill, we needed that): http://www.ejectejecteject.com/

Let's Drop Out
I just sent away a big check to pay estimated quarterly taxes.
As God is my witness, if this bill passes it's the last one I'll ever send.
I'll not be played for a sucker any longer.

4th of July plans

WE HAVE HOMEWORK TO DO: spend your 4th of July holiday memorizing the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence -- IF YOU HAVEN'T DONE IT ALREADY.

Now that would be a fitting testimony to our patriotism and a reflection of our gratitude for the freedoms bequeathed to us by our Founding Fathers.

And it would steel us for the fight ahead.

And still better, gather at your state capitols and in D.C. Everyone bring a copy of these two documents, and in unison read them aloud, 4,6, or 8 times. Bring signs denouncing the immigration bill and those Senators who endorse it.

Yet I hear the bill may come up for another vote prior to the Fourth. But we must do something. Our voices must be heard beyond TH and our personal entreaties to our elected officials.

And thank you, Lodestar, for your welcoming remarks.

Regarding : Atlas Shrugged
Could you please point me to Galt's Gulch?

This is not true immigration
This issue remains one of importing a ready-made mass of potential voters for the Dem party and one of retaining a mass of low-cost and uneducated labor for the construction and agriculture and related industries, for the Republican party. Pity the poor people who have tried to immigrate by the book and are still standing in line, with all their paperwork done and a history of all work and no crime, three and four years later, still waiting their turn.

Anyone who says that it's too late to write and call Senators just doesn't want to spend his or her day that way. I don't either, but frankly, there aren't many ways to voice total opposition to this ludicrous and insulting bill, and keeping up the constant barrage of communication at least lets Senators in every state know how the American public feels.

The president has acted in ways that are completely unforgiveable. But, he is so lame duck, it's not worth discussing. The real work for all of us needs to take place between now and primary time. If we have succeeded at all, it is in letting everyone in Washington know that the people of the United States don't, in any way, trust the very people elected to represent them. How sorry a situation is that?

McQuisling in rightful death spiral
I have seen prez candidate Juan McQuisling interviewed by O'Reilly and others about the Scamnesty bill-- he was bleeding badly after trying to defend the indefensible. [He had written Dingy Harry Reid asking hin NOT to bring Scamnesty up at all, since his people were telling him it would kill him.] Juan has dropped 8 points in the polls in the past 2 months; he has the twin albatrosses of Iraq and Scamnesty around his sorry stiff neck. May his candidacy rightfully RIP!!! He has been a traitor on ILLEGALS-- along with Presidente Jorge, Linseed Grahamnesty, Carlos Hagel, Sam BROWNback, RINO Spectercide, and Notta Lott. I don't trust Huckleberry either, much less Rudy --> that phoney not only proudly declared the Big Apple to be a sanctuary city, he even boasted: "If you are undocumented, we WANT you here!" That tore it right there for me!

A note about O'Reilly... while he is better than the socialist Keith Olbermann and cognitively void PC Paula Zahn at the same time slot, that is damming with faint praise. O'Reilly initially crowed that he favored this Scamnesty bill, though he had little clue what its all-in implcations were.

Once public opinion quickly became OVERWHELMINGLY averse to this Scamnesty con job, Bill O. seemed to do an about-face. Truth be told-- Bill O. is no rocket scientist, so he can be a mercurial demagogue and erratic conservative. It cracks me up when he slips into the discourse that he went to Harvard... Bill went to one of those graduate-level things that will take celebrity people. In marked contrast, Lou Dobbs grew up dirt poor, but qualified for Harvard college on brains and merit-- two very different paths and acumens. Rush, e.g., is far sharper than Bill O., although that need not be a remarkable distinction.

In Reference to the Millions of Illegals
Mr. Tucker writes: "We have no idea who these people are, of course, or where they’re living."

Agreed.

But doesn't it make you wonder how their supporters then supposedly know
1. how many of them there are, and
2. how long most of them have been here, and
3. how many billions of dollars they have paid in taxes, and
4. how few of them are in jail/prison relative to the citizen population, (see Rivera, G.)

So far as the possibility of terrorists coming across the border, that seems a small price for the rest of us to bear as long as the open border helps to preserve the fond memories that our President has of his hispanic nanny.

By the way, has anyone seen ANY estimate from the US Senate as to the true net cost of this bill?

Right on JohnL
It's also funny how the illegal aliens can dart out of the shadows to protest or grant interviews to the press. Then poof.... they have disapeared again!

It's Magic!

Reply to Ann @ 11:35AM:
I don't love the present system, and I think that it need a revamp.

That said, how about we do it right this time, since this is our third try at solving the same problem.

I confess my ignorance about the inability of an employer to check the papers of a worker.
Why is that? Seems to me that a social security database that he could check into for verification of a number would be a simple computer request: "I have a Mr. so and so here who claims his SS # is such and such. Is that what your files show?"
Then, SS data base replies, "Yes", or "No, we show that humber for someone else, please contact our office".

No, I don't like the family chain migration, and think it should be halted immediately. That seems like it could be addressed in a separate, associated bill, however.

Perhaps crossing the border illegally is a misdemeanor, but what about the fake papers? It seems to me that if the illegal is going to be doing the jobs Americans won't do, he/she is going to have to show some papers in order to work, right? And if they are forged, isn't that a felony? That seems to leave the misdemeanor category only to those who are not working, and how many more of those do we need?

I agree that we probably need a Guest Worker program, and would support one that gave PREFERENCE to those registering in their home country for the available jobs here. That would tend to push some of these illegals beck home, might it not? And I also think that the Guest Worker program can morph into a legal path for US citizenship.

You state: "even if we were able to get employers to stop hiring illegals..." Do you not think that enforcing the current law against employers might get their attention? Do you disagree that putting a few corporate honchos into jail would send a powerful message? And, if the employers will no longer hire them, how will the illegals survive in this country? Let them return to their home country - the one whose flag they so proudly carry through our streets - and register there for a Guest Worker program.

My opposition is rooted in
1. Fair Play - many others have been playing by the rules and this group pushes its way to the front of the line, and our government reacts by saying that there are too many of them to do anything to stop them;
2. The Rule of Law - our country cannot allow such a huge number of lawbreakers (misdemeanor or felony) to not be addressed in a manner which does not indicate that their illegal push to the front of the line got them a better break.
3. The USA Future - I have children and am willing to fight to assure them the opportunity to share in this great experiment in individual freedom that is the USA. That includes the maintenance of the standard of living that we have all worked hard to achieve in this country. My fear is that the cost of this bill (which Congress thus far refuses to address or announce) will break their backs via the taxes they will be forced to pay to support this folly.

So, this "fellow conservative" supports closing the border (not necessarily a fence); punishing those American employers who break the law by hiring illegals; establishing a guest worker program, and not giving away citizenship as a reward for illegally pushing your way to the front of the line.

I also suggest that we slow down the process. This issue deserves thoughtful discussion, so what's the rush by the Senate? And why couldn't it be a series of related bills, addressing one issue and then another....why the allure of the "comprehensive bill" which seems to hide a rash of loopholes?

hankreardon
I read somewhere (on this site I believe) that the Minutemen were trying to put a plan together that would replace the pro amnesty senators with their own candidates.

If this movement catches on, and these potential candidates become serious contenders, it might scare the current nitwits enough to realize that they will probably really lose their jobs in the next election.

What in the world has happened to the republican party when you have someone like Lott saying he'll "deal with" the talk radio shows? What is going on?

Attention GOP apologists!
News flash for you.

YOU are the people who make it possible for the Republican party to run such pi$$-poor candidates.

YOU are the people who don't demand they hold some accountability for their actions.

YOU are the ones who will vote for any candidate they put up, regardless of how bad, while you "hold your noses".

YOU, through your actions, are the ones that allow them to have the attitude that they can depend on your vote no matter what.

YOU are the ones who are making conservatism as irrelevant to the Republican party as Black concerns are to the Democrats, because

YOU allow them to have the attitude of "who else are they going to vote for?".

So when you start complaining about how bad the candidates are, and you're being "forced" to vote for someone you don't really like, just remember to look in the mirror for the cause of the problem.

Bush's Memoirs
Bush has officially gone to war with the American people over his wierd allegiance to individuals who care nothing for this country and march each May day with foreign flags.
I have no doubt that Bush will be giving this years 4th. of July speech in Spanish.
I voted for this man twice, I made an enemy at work over him.
I have now concluded that this man is totally demented. I'm sure hes dreaming about some sort of a bizarre legacy. Perhaps he will write his memoirs. He can entitled it "My Struggle."
Oh wait, some other historical figure already used that title.

Why are people so surprised?
He told us all along.

Watch this compilation of Bush's statements. Notice: you'll want to throw up after watching this.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hf0hAc7LGNg

Read the White House statement on the Security and Prosperity Partnership that he signed with Canada and Mexico. Notice what borders it talks about!

There never was any intention to secure our borders! Take a look:
http://usinfo.state.gov/is/Archive/2005/Mar/23-209281.html

It's way bigger than Bush's legacy
This is all about the NORTH AMERICAN UNION! Geez, what will it take for you people to check any of this out?

HankRearden write:
"yeah and Ron Paul is the same guy who said in a national debate that the reason 9/11 happened is because we were bombing Iraq for ten years"

Got news for you Hank. Dr Paul wasn't the only one who said that. Osama Bin Laden said that, the CIA said that, the 9/11 Commission Report said that. Yet only in the perverted world of the MSM an uninformed citizens does that sound like new news.

So tell me Hank, are you saying that nations, unlike individuals are NOT ACCOUNTABLE for their actions.

Dr. Paul embraces the inspired wisdom of our founders. Trade with all but have entangling alliances with none. If a nation chooses war with you, then get congress to pass a declaration of war and release the "dogs of war"

The U.S. has been the enforcement body (world policemen) lobby for the UN for far too long; where exactly has it gotten us?

Feel free to vote for McCain, Guliani, Clinton or Obama because truth be told, Santa Claus, Ronald McDonald, Elvis, or the Harlem Globetrotters would sure as hell stand up for our nation a heck of a lot more than these traitorous sellouts will.

Where are the nutroots....

.....when you need them?

My new bumper sticker idea:

"NOW You Can Impeach Him"

techpro
I like your bumper sticker.

I believe in Hunter. He is right about Iraq, Iran, China, immigration, American jobs, and he built his part of the fence.

Can you imagine Hispanics picking a fight with Schwartzenegger on how to assimilate and succeed in a foreign culture? You would think that immigrating, marrying into the Kennedy family, becoming a millionaire through work, and becoming governor all in one lifetime would tend to support the speaker's credentials to make a comment on the subject of the benefits of immersion and mastering a foreign language. The people attacking him are CLOSE MINDED. He didn't say he would make it a crime to watch Spanish television, he said if you want to learn English stop surrounding yourself with everything in the Spanish language. Duh. How does one say "duh" in Spanish?

Bush
Our family too had stuck with Bush, also lost some friends, one of about 30 years, over Bush.

He doesn't really care about those who have stood by him. He let Scooter Libby be hung out to dry. He hasn't spoken up for General Pace, nor General Pettrais (I know the spelling is wrong but you know who I mean) anyway, he let Harry Reid get away with calling them incompetent. But I notice he is there for anyone with a Latino name.

Most of the time I change the channel anymore when he begins giving a speech. I don't even want to hear his lies.

Wayward1
I just want to get something clear. by your statement " nations are accountable for their actions" Do you mean that the 9/11 victims deserved what they got? I mean, I read it three times and thats what I got. Those people were innocent of any wrong doing connected to what happened in the middle east. Had Osama or the other terrorists attacked our military only, I could almost agree with you, almost. But, by hitting a building that is almost completely filled with non-combatants,thats murder plain and simple, not warfare.

BrianR
Reality check for you...

The RNC would take our money and give it to any representative THEY deem important to their cause(NWO). TheY would not support Randy Graf in AZ because he was too conservative, a strong supporter of the NRA. He lost to a dummycrat. I voted for Graf. I'm sure the people in Rhode Island could have found another conservative, but they wound up with liberal Chaffee. Very sad.

When we vote for a candidate, we determine their character based on what they say they will do. Part of campaigning is to convince us they have the minimum qualifications for the current issues we face and we cannot possibly know who/what that candidate will turn into after he/she gets into office. That is why we are required to determine which of the lesser of two evils will do less damage than the worse candidate. When we are given hope by a candidate that turns to despair, we are decimated with no one to turn to. That is why Mexico has so many economic and political problems.

If we vote for the candidate and hold our nose, it is only because no one with common sense would possibly justify being humiliated, degraded, libeled, slandered, sued, shot at, etc. A person with high standards and ethics would never expose him/herself to the garbage heap of examination from MSM, lies and more lies about the integrity of the person. That is also why conservative talk radio personalities are always asked to run for office, but are reluctant to do so, because they know from their contacts in DC--they too will be slaughtered.

Omit 4th paragraph reply, non-sequitur.

We are conservatives because we have answers to problems that the moderates, and liberals do not, and they are perfectly willing to admit such ignorance of substance, standing by the symbolism that comes with nihilism. Your analogy is ridiculous.

Politics is a very dirty business. I'll let the narcissists who look in the mirror and think they know how to solve our problems have a crack at it. If they get it right, I'll let them know and they can gloat all they want, but when they get it wrong and insist the answer is 'my way or the highway', which is what they are doing with immigration reform, I will scream at the top of my lungs until they are forced to submit to the will of the people avoiding the tragedy for the US citizens.

I voted for Graf too
Omega Days,

We must be neighbors.

Omega Days
You're restating my points. That's the point of what I wrote.

The GOP has lost its conservative anchor, and that's why it's having the problems it does, and only ekes out any victories with the thinnest of margins.

darcy
Wonder if Gabby will listen to our demands for a wall knowing her hero TK has destroyed the Republican party and national sovereignty in one fell swoop (or should I say is attempting to destroy).

Big money Huffman was endorsed by the RNC who had a less than good character, and it got pretty messy in the primary. If the candidates had not thrown mud at each other, Graf may have won. Kind of like a good ole Chicago machine political fight.

I listened to one of the debates with Gabby and Randy, perfect example of nihilism versus substance, I couldn't understand a word Gabby said, it was like listening to a kindergartner. Now we have to 'work' with her?

Northwest Tucson...

When you are remembering people sitting in jail, don't forget Ramos and Compean in jail and a third is on the way, Hernandez, ( see Ann Coulter: No Drug Smuggler Left Behind: and don't forget Haditha and the Marines.

If there are to be no borders between Canada the US and Mexico, wait until you find out that according to French Canadians we should all be speaking French because they figure that the French colony extended from Quebec down to Louisianna, PLUS it is OK for them to have a unilingual society like they created in Quebec by being so unpleasant that 600,000 English speaking people left, but no one else is entitled to a unilingual society. Everyone has to make THEM feel comfortable. They even insist that the Native Canadians should be speaking French because the French got to the New World before the British. That's called p_ _ _ing off the Native Canadians and is one of the reasons in an election for separating that lost by less than 1% the Native Canadians contributed by their vote and campaign to keeping Canada together.

How come the Hispanics don't see that Spanish was a colonialist language that they should be throwing off?

Nanna,
Why don't you phone up that old friend and make peace? Bookshop Santa Cruz in California sells a Bush count down clock for how much time till Jorge will be out of office. They have a website.

BrianR
I tried to parse out some reasoning for our method instead of finger pointing using the accusatory "YOU".

The fact is, we are not voting for model citizens, we are voting for the lowest common denominator, many of whom would join up with crips gang members if they could get enough of their votes to win an election.

We would like to think that OUR conservative candidate is above reproach, but all too frequently is not. There's are worse than ours. But they are all working for the same boss--those who run the NWO. Catch you later...

Cred on Terror = Border Enforcement!
As I keep saying, a government that can't take the simple, obvious, basic, low-hanging-fruit, first step of securing the borders and controlling the aliens in this country, has no credibility when in the name of "the war on terror" it wants to spend money, create new departments, tangle Americans up in red tape, constantly surveill us and our dealings without probable cause, treat us like cattle on airlines, and so forth.

If the government were really serious about preventing terrorism, this debate wouldn't even be taking place, & this bill wouldn't even be on the calendar or seriously considered at all. If the idea of mass amnesty was even being discussed, it would only be by a few one-worlders & other fringe kooks.

Omega, the
reason I used the accusatory YOU is because I'm tired of GOP apologists blaming the problems of the GOP on conservatives, when the problems are actually of their own making.

I thought that was fairly obvious.

reply
Omega Days,
As my father says

"Politicians and corporations are immoral. Politicians are counting votes, and corporations are counting money."

Bytheocean
We had a thunderstorm here, and I had to go off line and unplug. when I came back I saw your message.

I am ashamed that I didn't remember the border guards in my post. As much as I've screamed about it. Then to forget one of the most horrible things Bush has done. And there is a police officer also that is in jail. And one who lost everything(border guard) fighting for his life.

There is also the Rancher that lost his ranch, and the illegal who sued him, now has it.

I can't believe this president even considers himself a self respecting citizen of this country, much less a president!!

BrianR
You're right, but I don't want to admit the GOP left us, just as the wack-job leftists abandoned 'classic liberals'(conservatives like Prager and Bruce). But if our current conservatives in WH and Congress are so apt to name calling those who voted for them, they should all be kicked out.

And if your right, it will turn out to be a self-fulfilling prophesy, we will not only lose the party (actually it will lose us), but we will lose the '08 elections with a house and senate full of socialists.

The current panel of Republican candidates is pretty weak. Each brings a different set of assets and problems. And the left will tear themselves apart before the primary, we may not have anything to worry about except to put the right man in, I just haven't decided who that is, no one stands out--Hunter is the only logical candidate, but he does not have the charisma of Rudy, Mitt, Newt or Fred who have other problems...
We're in trouble, no doubt about it.

And also, if you are right, we need to found The New Conservative Party now...once they realize our platform is many times more stable than theirs, moderate Republicans (GOP) will vote for the NCP. We may even get a new candidate that is teflon, or maybe I'm just wishful thinking, we're no where close to doing something that dramatic.

robert
You have got to either be drunk, or strung out on something.

I never mentioned anything about anbar provence, or anything else about the war.You have totally lost it,

From now on, I think I'll just ignore you. You can't even keep up with what you are writing about, or what anyone else is writing about. Now I know you are a total whack job.

Deport the American Theives
__Take away the employers who hire the illegals. Take away those who house the illegals. These people could care less if they have a real ID or not. They profit more from the illegals than they do from legals. If they really cared about them they would sponser them to gain legal status. All they care about is the profit they receive from them. Unregulated exchange of money in an unregulated industry. Round up the theives and stop illegals from entering.

The Inside Story.....

....On What's Happening With The Senate Immigration Bill (hint: the fix is in):

"I asked my source to speculate on why Lott was pushing so hard, and he said that Lott may be naive enough to think that this bill might help John McCain's presidential campaign. He told me that despite McCain's dip in the polls since the bill hit the news, it was hard to miss the fact that the biggest supporters of this bill in the Senate, Jon Kyl, Trent Lott, and Lindsey Graham, are all solidly behind McCain in '08."

eastlake joe writes:

How on earth could you even consider that what I wrote means that I am endorsing something on the order of Ward Churchill's reasoning?

Terror is a tactic used to achieve a political end. Our bases in Saudi Arabia and our meddling in the affairs of the middle eastern nations is what has caused 10% of the world's muslim population the will to do us harm, and unfortunately the attacks of Sep 11.

We didn't live up to our promises to rebuild afghanistan after the soviet occupation, we made a mess or Iran in the 60's and 70's. Both OBL and Hussein were one time allies to the U.S. but shifting foreign policies that changed from administration to administration made them die hard enemies.

The height of delusional arrogance suggests that we can abruptly transform a people who has been in a total state of subservience by a maniacal despot to the completely unfamiliar state of political independence, especially in nations whose political dynamic is essentially married when it comes to the affairs of church and state.

We are two diabolically opposed peoples and folks like OBL will never tolerate our presence or our influence upon their culture.

If I took you wrong, I am big enough to appologise. I am sorry if I did. I am just sick of hearing a few of the bleeding hearts intimate and outright say that. Again I'm sorry.

Immigration Update
Go to http://corner.nationalreview.com/

to read remainder of post I've excerpted here.

At corner, scroll down to Immigration Update: From a knowledgeable Senate source, by Kathryn Jean Lopez
date and time: 6/16 02:32pm

Kathryn begins:
Here is what we expect to happen next week, though it is far from clear yet. In short, we expect it to come up this week, and if Senators (as we expect) object to unanimous consent agreements, it will take the better part of 6-8 days to get this done. They will not get it done this week (but Reid threatens to stay in next weekend).

1. We expect Reid, in conjunction with support from McConnell, Lott and Grand Bargainers Kyl, Martinez, Graham and McCain, to introduce a brand new piece of legislation - and use Rule 14 to put the bill immediately on the Senate calendar without going thru committee - which of course, the first bill did not do as well.

Robert
I had heard that Pace had done exceptionally but he was being taken out because of the dems because he had stated a pro "don't ask don't tell" policy regarding gays in the military, and the dems were "offended". So if it is about war, he should stay.

eastlake joe
It's not me that deserves an apology Joe; an apology should go to Dr. Paul from the nitwit journalist's who don't understand the complexity of his argument.

The lack of historical and social perspectives in the U.S. is becoming increasingly alarming. We have socially engineered a society in which the 10 second sound-bite and pop-culture holds more reverence than the premise of reasoning, action and accountability. As dumbed down as we have become, it's no small stretch to assume that the dolts who are ramrodding this immigration bill, are counting on the ignorance of their electorate.

Which is why 1 in 10 understood what Dr Paul was saying.

"The Camp of the Saints"
by Jean Raspail. Presently reading this interesting novel about the Third World's invasion of the west. Yikes!

Julz
Yeah, I read it too. Just replace the Indians with Mexicans and France with America and it's pretty much the same story.

To Townhall 'Gabby'
Sorry TH Gabby, I was directing my comments to darcy who lives here in Tucson. The 'Gabby' I was referring to is Gabby Giffords AZ local Rep. in the house--not you. Look her up, she's a real leftist piece of work. She is absolutely no reflection of your perfectly conservative views here on TH. Please keep up the good works. You couldn't possibly think I was talking about you when equating 'Gabby' Giffords nihilism with TH Gabby? NO! You're great!

TK is of course Ted Kennedy, the last surviving Amerikan Communist from the cold war.

And unless you lived in AZ, I would not expect you to understand who Randy Graf is either. Next time, I'll use last names...

The Natl Republican Party
gets NONE of my $$. I simply tear up their mail without even opening it. My dollars will go to support conservatives of my choice.

When the Natl party refused to support Randy Graf or the former mayor of Cranston, RI (I think) against two liberal Republicans, of course we lost two seats! The Natl party just doesn't get it - the conservatives are MAD!

As others have stated, I have been a GWB supporter since 2000...however, his actions with regard to supporting Libby/the generals in Iraq/and now this horrible Amnesty bill have soured me completely. I can't wait til he is out of office. He just doesn't get it...the Democrats don't want to "get along" - they want to do him in! And America along with him!!!

I am smart enough, however, to know that I will vote for the Republican whoever it will be. We cannot let the Democrats take charge in 08. It is bad enough as it is now.

Might I add
RUN, FRED, RUN!

OMEGA DAYS
Looks like I missed your post, and TH Gabby got understandably confused re: that Giffords idiot.

I sent Giffords a letter about funding the troops, and her office sent me an incoherent reply, not at all related to the points I had made. She's a bozo.

It was just another nail in her coffin; like you, I had already summed her up as cloned from TK.

Do you think we'll get a chance at Graf again?

darcy
almost to Green Valley

Hi darcy
Hi darcy

Randy Graf knows his stuff, gives excellent answers, but doesn't have the charisma needed to win, he got 42% against Giffords. His platform is similar to Duncan Hunter's and Tom Tancredo's, unfortunately for both DH and TT, they too do not have charisma, but we sure need them now, the border wall is THE issue that will save our country.

Just heard TT talking with Jim Parisi-KNST, good answers, would like to see him as VP or in the cabinet. He said a strong US is the only way we can help the world, but in my estimation, the globalists see only money in their pocket, selling out our country. A true patriot is what we need in the WH.

I noticed over the past 70+ years, that it has always been the most charismatic person that wins an election, no matter how complex or simple the platform, and on the Democratic side, no matter how their shady background, or lack of character(FDR, JFK, WJC-cheated on their wives, Dhimma Carter, progressive idiot).

Mark Levin made some observations about Fred Thompson I did not know about that made him look a little better as a possible contender. He's quietly building his campaign, can't wait to hear his talking points. He has charisma, enough to overcome a Hillary or Obama. And just as Mark has not made up his mind, I haven't either.

Mark Levin, when, where?
Omega Days,

I'll have to find out what time he's on the radio, and the station.

As for your charismatic argument for successful candidates, hmmmmmm.

Nixon and Humphrey were a toss-up, imho, for the dull award -- admittedly in a less-telegenic-dependant age. You get my meaning.

I could say the same for Ford and Carter. Ick.

However, I do hope your thesis holds water. Because if it does, there is no way on God's green earth that Hillary surpasses anyone (among the field) in the charisma department.

We can all exhale in a collective sigh of relief.

OMEGA DAYS
Email to my congresswoman:

Our current immigration laws are not broken -- they are being shamelessly ignored and deliberately NOT UNFORCED, but for token adherence, and that, only to make a PRETENCE of following the law.

The country is understandably enraged by this state of affairs.

And the final blow is S.B.1348 -- a bill that NO AMOUNT OF TINKERING-WITH BY WAY OF AMENDMENTS can fix.

That is why I am writing you today TO URGE YOU TO SUPPORT BRIAN BILBRAY, RANDY FORBES, STEVEN KING AND BOB GOODLATTE, WHO HAVE CRAFTED AN ALTERNATIVE AND EMMINENTLY MORE JUST IMMIGRATION REFORM BILL.

I feel I must warn you that this issue, unlike any other in recent memory, has touched a nerve with the American people who know that powerful big-business lobbies and the political elite have determined to put their interests above the interests of the American people.

THIS WILL NOT STAND. You are a servant of the people and hold your office at the discretion of the voters. Please do not turn a deaf ear to American citizens.

Please consider carefully the sacred trust committed to you to act ON BEHALF OF THE CITIZENS OF YOUR DISTRICT.

We will be watching closely to see that you fulfill your duties with honor as befits the people you serve and represent.

Sincerely,
