What would you rather watch?

Barack Obama found the perfect booster in Oprah Winfrey. Not only can she fill a football stadium with 30,000 adoring people and put a hammerlock on a news cycle, she specializes in the warm-and-fuzzy uplift that is the very foundation of Obama’s candidacy.

This was the pontiff of daytime television bestowing secular sainthood on the golden child of latterday liberalism. “For there is born to you this day a savior.” The Oprah- Obama match is made not quite in heaven, but in a haze of inspirational piety with heavy religious overtones. People had “Oprah for V.P.” buttons at this past weekend’s rallies. The Queen of All Media surely would never accept such a demotion. But Obama-Winfrey would make a natural ticket. They are both African- Americans with major racial crossover appeal. They are arguably the nation’s biggest celebrities in their respective fields of media and politics. And they offer affirming messages of hope and self-help.

In her stump speeches on Obama’s behalf, Oprah zeroed in on the heart of the matter: Obama’s post-political messianism. In South Carolina, she declared that it isn’t enough for candidates to tell the truth, “We need politicians who know how to be the truth.” One wonders if in the news reports, it were merely a transcription error that “the truth” wasn’t rendered in divinized capital letters.

Michelle Obama spoke in the same terms: “We need a leader who’s going to touch our souls. Who’s going to make us feel differently about one another. Who’s going to remind us that we are one another’s keepers. That we are only as strong as the weakest among us.”

This isn’t merely overpromising. It’s a creepy inflation of a political figure into a secular version of the Second Coming. Oprah implied the same thing, quoting a film in which an old, long-suffering woman asks every child she meets — in a question fraught with messianic symbolism — "Are you the one?" Oprah continued, referring to Obama, “It’s a question the entire nation is asking — is he the one? South Carolina — I do believe he’s the one.”

Is he really? It’s hard enough for a presidential candidate to have a plan to save Social Security and stabilize Iraq, let alone embody the truth and touch our souls. Obama plays into this messianism because it’s what gives his candidacy its unique appeal. Otherwise, he has a collection of pedestrian Democratic positions.

It’s the promise to redeem our politics, “to create a kingdom right here on earth” — as he put it at a church event in South Carolina a few weeks ago — that accentuates his status as a different kind of candidate. The American left might be overwhelmingly secular, but it still has religious impulses, which tend to be channeled into their leaders.

Democrats want to revere their candidates. This has at least been the case since John F. Kennedy, the martyred president who embodied all that would have been good and true about America if it hadn’t taken a catastrophic wrong turn with his death. Obama offers Democrats the opportunity to fall in love all over again.

This is because he is relatively unsullied by politics. Hillary Clinton is not. No one could invest millenarian aspirations in Clinton. She has been attacked, and has attacked in turn too much. She has compromised too much. She has positioned herself with an eye to practical political considerations too much. Her goal isn’t to transform politics — she’s much too realistic for that — but to move public policy in a leftward direction that she thinks would help people’s lives. This is the stuff of grubby, everyday politics, and there is no wonder Oprah wants nothing to do with it, not with the ideal of an Obama presidency shimmering off in the distance.

Who knows how much Oprah’s endorsement will help Obama? This much is certain. If she helps get him elected president and expects politics as usual to dissipate under his glorious dispensation, she will be disappointed.

my 2 cents
This is a good piece. I find it kind of sad that so many people are moved by OW's enthusiastic endorsement of BO, but that's the way it is. If BO wins in Iowa things could get a bit hinkey.

Oh no
Well forgive us for actually liking our candidates. Do I detect a hint of jealousy?

And given the uninhibited worship of Fred Thompson on this site before he EVEN ANNOUNCED I would say the right wing has no right to accuse us of over-inflating a candidate!

The Right Doesn't Like Messiah Complexes
This is a good one Rich, thanks.

First off, are you really complaining that Obama has a messianic complex? You of the fawning over George "God told me to invade Iraq" Bush? You of the Grand Old Pat Robertson Party? Puh-leeeze.

Second, off course politics as usual won't dissipate under an Obama presidency. We would have actual leadership for the first time in 8 years but we'd also be stuck with the rabid foaming right wing loony fringe writing nonsensical crap that inflames their knuckle-dragging followers...

Keep up the good work Rich ol' buddy. Always entertaining to watch you right wingers poisoning the well.

doom and gloom conservatives
in lowrys world hope and idealism are dead.

that is a shame but it is ironic for a party who has lionized reagan to be downplaying someone who asks us to believe in our better angels.

shame on you.

Oprah's racism
If anything illustrates Oprah's feet of clay, this does. Were Obama white, she wouldn't even know who he was. Cut through the hype and this is just an acknowledgement that Obama is the Great Black Hope.

Teacher
so then using your logic those who support huckabee because he is a Christian are religious racists right?

A curious choice
I find the political marriage of Obama and Winfrey curious at best. It's wonderful for Oprah; she gets massive exposure to shoot off her mouth and tell people what she thinks. Oprah has carved out her career telling people what she thinks.

But frankly, I think Obama dug himself a hole. He has so precious little experience that would qualify him to be a presidential candidate, and to pick some celeb like Oprah who builds a career focused on victimhood -- hard to fathom. If I were Obama, I would want and hope to get someone stumping for me who had tremendous political experience and currency to trade, someone whose political views and activities were respected -- and with reason.

I tend to agree with Teacher. If this guy were white, Oprah wouldn't have given him a second look. And her mouth would be limited to her network talk show, which would be better for all of us.

Liberal hypocrites to the nth degree
If the comments from Oprah and Michelle Obama and Barack himself were being said about or by a conservative Republican candidate the liberal banshees would be howling. And the comment that "we are only as strong as the weakest amongst us" terrifies me. Another play on the Democratic cry of "Let's all be poor together."

oprah and her messiah
I have yet to be convinced that blacks stand for anything than promoting fellow blacks. With their lifetime matra of white racism and it's effects on their communities they will always flock to promo their candidates. Had oprah rallied b ehind the missus clinton it wouild have been merely another celeb endorsement. But supporting the inexperienced and locked into the 60's oblahma she enters the realm of king maker. Should oblahma get the dim's nod, good old oprah casshes in and gains unlimited access to promo her platform. Perhaps that is not all that bad. Putting the kibosh on the race pimps jackson and sharpton isn't the worst thing either. But should oblahma get the nomination, those two race hustlers will find a way to worm their way into the campaign. They are media darlings and will find some way to manufacvture incidences that will highlight themselves but at oblahmas expense

Wrong religiouslib...
That does not correlate you moron. All the presidential candidates, from both parties, have openly presented themselves as Christians.

religiouslib
I hope you are not as ignorant as your comment implies. Religion - even religious intolerance - and racism are apples and oranges; although - to forstall a possible rant - I readily concede the existence of religious racists. I would not support anyone SOLELY on the basis of their stated religious beliefs. I think Dennis Prager addresses that quite well in his column on Mormonism and Romney. Your reply does nothing to lessen the obvious racism in Oprah's support for a freshman solon running for chief executive.

I don't get it
Why aren't black people allowed to endorse black people? Is that racist? Would a white guy endorsing a white guy be racist? Both ideas are crazy.

What about Oprah's endorsement convinces you that it's racist?

60s Socialism/Communism
It's too funny listening to these Kool-Aid sucking zombies slobbering over the King and Queen of Nice. Together they have nothing to offer but today's version of the Dims' decades old dream of Utopia, where everyone (except them of course) is "equal" and no one has much of anything. Just like their War on Poverty and No Child Left Behind, it just hasn't had the right people leading or enough of our money squandered. And the funniest part is that these Moonbats actually believe it!

Kahryl
Do you read? Do you live in a bubble? The Democrats are fielding two white candidates and one black. Edwards has the most experience of the three and whatever Clinton might have been involved with - at the very least, pillow talk - combined with her senate experience places her ahead of Obama. Why chose to support Obama except for his color? What else does he bring to the race? Forget the platitudes spoken on the campaign trail, look at the record. He is an empty shell who avoids going on the record for controversial votes.

Teacher,
I didn't think you seriously believed that every supporter of Obama is an anti-white racist. That's disturbing.

"Why chose to support Obama except for his color?"

That's a ridiculous question but at least you asked the right person. As an Obama supporter here are the main reasons I'll probably caucus in favor of him:

1. His good judgment on the Iraq war. He predicted, even in middle of the hurricane of pro-war propaganda, just about exactly what was going to happen before the war even started. Hillary and Edwards both bowed to the political pressure of the hawks and gave Bush the power to enact this disaster, which speaks badly about their judgment in comparison - though Edwards gets heavy points from me for flatly admitting and apologizing for his error, something Clinton seems incapable of. Meanwhile Obama didn't fall for any of that crap.

2. His straightforwardness and honesty when speaking to a crowd - he doesn't have the sickly "tell the people what they want to hear" syndrome that affects most of the other candidates of both parties (Huckabee and Paul are the other clear exceptions)

3. His rhetoric is outstanding. He is positive without being vague. He shows optimism without the sense of delusion that usually comes from it. Even if you don't agree with him on an issue, he clearly lights a path showing how he arrived at his own conclusions. Huckabee is the only other candidate who can genuinely interest me when he speaks - who actually says something that is both thought-provoking and substantial. You should see him speak sometime.

4. His voting record is the most in line with my own values.

You're right that Obama is relatively inexperienced. But in fact experience has been a surprisingly poor predictor of how well a president performs. Bush has been in management from day one and look at where he's got us.

Sophia,
Thanks for the link. Yet another example of Obama harnessing his substantial charisma.

Sophia
You miss one point: By being a Republican, to most libs, Keyes is NO LONGER BLACK. The R in front of his name makes him white to most liberals. So of course he is not being endorsed by Oprah. Same for Michael Steele. They lost their "blackness" by daring to challenge the group identity and think for themselves. (All blacks, like all women, all homosexuals, all hispanics, etc. are expected by the left -- and especially by the various pressure groups on the left -- to be democrats, or they are accused of not being "authentic".)

And do not try to deny this. I have heard hundreds of libs tell me that black conservatives are at best "Uncle Toms" and most often "not REALLY black". So I am not creating this sick mindset, just repeating what I was told by the libs themselves.

Anti-Christ?
Messianic glow in a candidate always makes me wonder. And, they sure are utilizing messianic sort of language -- Michelle and Oprah and some others. Nothing says he has to be blond and blue-eyed and European.

Just thought I'd throw a stone in the pot and watch the ripples.

Wildwest

"I have yet to be convinced that blacks stand for anything than promoting fellow blacks."

I can't believe you really wrote this. But, since you did, I can't believe you really belive it.

Teacher
"Cut through the hype and this is just an acknowledgement that Obama is the Great Black Hope."

It's really funny to me when I read all the racist comments about OW supporting Obama. This thread makes me feel like I fell through a hole in the ground - I'm busy looking for that little bottle that says "Drink me" in the hopes that I can put out that fire that my hair just ignited.

The feel good crowd

The road to hell is paved with good intentions and feel good Democratic politicians.

If it feels good do it, and if it sounds good say it.

As that great thinker and sage Rodney King said, "Can't we all just get along/"

NO- Rodney we can't!

andrews,
Hundreds of libs? Where the heck do you live? I've only heard that point of view two or three times.. and every time from a CONSERVATIVE who says he heard it from a liberal.

I challenge you to find such a PoV anywhere on Salon, drudgereport, Kos, etc without several posts by fellow liberals right after it condemning it. Find ONE instance.

It's not hard to find hysterical points of views from any side. But it's pretty weak sauce to have to resort to dredging them up to make any kind of point.

WHOOPS,
I meant carpetbagger, not drudge. lol

Kahryl
Hundreds of libs is too many?

I lived in Baltimore, where I first heard it with alarming frequency. Then spent time in NYC and Philadelphia where I heard it as well. Also heard it often in the Washington DC area.

Most saying it are black liberals, but some white liberals do as well.

If you have not heard it from anyone, you must travel in very insulated circles. I suppose you have never heard of "oreos", "coconuts" or "bananas" either? Or any of the other terms those pushing a racial identity use to make group members remain with the herd?

Come on, no conservative cares if a black is "authentic" or not. Racial identity is a tool of the left, not the right.

As long as it is a Dem or GOP President
it is going to be "politics as usual"! That is a guaranteed outcome because the two parties have rigged the election process to assure themselves continued power. Another elite from either party is only more of the same. Any such candidate will be beholden to the party machine, the PACs, the corporations, and the money grubbing lobbyists that get them elected.

It is time "we the people" wake up and get past the DEM/GOP/MSM propaganda. We need to stop believing the lie that is told to us over and over until it has become accepted as true. That lie is that only "they" have the wisdom, knowledge, and experience to govern. Having been duped by the elites, we vote for the lesser of two evils every election, thinking that we have no other choice, nowhere else to go.

It is about time we asked ourselves why we continue to accept this propaganda. If you want to understand how the elites have rigged the process and what we can do to reverse the trend towards ever increasing power for both parties before it is too late, I urge you to visit my website, JOEOLIVAFORPRESIDENT.ORG

On the site I exlain how the elites have gained this power and how we, as the rightful owners of the nation, can reassert our authority. I hope you will check it out, why not? The elites have alredy stolen our inheritance and mortgaged the future we are passing on to our children. Do you think that there will ever be a better time to reclaim what has been stolen? If so, when and how? Email me on the site, your opinion is welcome. I hope to hear from you. Thanks, Joe

andrews,
"If you have not heard it from anyone, you must travel in very insulated circles. I suppose you have never heard of "oreos", "coconuts" or "bananas" either? Or any of the other terms those pushing a racial identity use to make group members remain with the herd?"

I admit I try not to associate with people who talk that way. They usually don't have much to offer.

Kahryl
I agree with you there. Liberals rarely do have much to offer.

Also,
Those terms are usually used by deadbeat blacks to criticize other blacks for actually getting a job, speaking grammatically, having stable relationships, etc. It's just losers' jealousy - it rarely has much to do with politics.

Sophia and Kahryl
It is hardly a myth. I cannot prove it to you, as I failed to tape record every conversation I had for the past decade or two, but TRUST ME, this is not a myth.

If you think this is a myth, you must be those white liberals who love black people but don't actually know any... It is hardly a rarity in conversation. And if a white conservative can hear it from casual friends who know I do not share their political views, I don't see how none of you liberals manage to hear it... Maybe willful deafness?

touj
experience tells many of us that the so called civil rights leaders such as jackson, sharpton bond et al speaks of how closed minded blacks are concerning politics. they can always find racism going on in society but can never see blacks attacking whites as another form of racism. I have no problem accepting that oprah is supporting obahma but she didn't put similar efforts into supporting heinz-kerry. The sad fact that some blacks consider clinton the first black president tells more of how they viewed his behavior not necessary his politics. That blacks failed to come to the support of repub blacks also tells they lack anything approaching an open mind when it comes to voting. The real tragedy is how the dims take blacks for granted after getting their votes and still the blacks line up in numbers approaching 90% to back the dims. Until the repubs gained control of congress during the first clinton administration the dims controlled congress for 40 years and still they did little if anything to help end the lingering effects of the dim's party support of jim crow. Perhaps one day the blacks will wake up and see the dims do more damage to their community than to solve problems. Until then any attempts by repubs to court the black vote will essentially fall on deaf ears and the dims will continue to play the racist card to keep blacks supporting them at the ballot box

Teacher has a point!

I don't think Teacher was making a "generalization" but rather speaking about "Oprah."

Were it our resident racists, Sharpton or Jackson, there would be no question that it was a black issue.

Oprah, I don't know...

But I suspect that IF HELLary does get the dumbo nomination, and (heaven forbid) wins the election, Oprah will be having every aspect of her life investigated... not to mention the fact that she'll be on a first name basis with her friendly neighborhood IRS agents for at least four years.

Oprah in South Carolina
Anybody notice how deep her accent became? It would be one thing if she'd put on the accent of her home state, but she donned a Carolinian accent. I found that manipulative! Even Obama attempted it, but he didn't sound right, apparently realized it and stopped.

A couple of months ago, it was Hilary doing the same thing. I guess these candidates think that southerners are so stupid they'll fall for a phony accent. Or maybe they think Democrats are that easily fooled. I don't know. I felt manipulated and very glad that Alaskans don't have an accent so it can't be used to manipulate us.

aurorawatcher: I didn't hear her speech

or Obama's, but it wouldn't surprise me...

I do remember HELLary doing it, and she made a total fool of herself. Even I was embarrassed for her (if you can imagine such a thing!)

But, I think you're right... the dumbos do think not only Southerners are stupid, they seem to think we're all stupid. At least too stupid to manage our own lives, thus such things as SOCIALIZED Health Care, and other controls over our lives should they get into office.

obama the empty suit
it saddens me to think america even remotely believes this clown has the gravitas to be president. name me one accomplishment he has that helps america to solve a problem or achieve greatness. and oprah is nothing more than a victim maker. i guess she is dumber than a box of rocks to think b. hussein obama has the ability to make a good pres.

Sophia
Don't worry about Anne - she is actually a troll who is paid to post on TH and make conservatives look angry and foolish.

also,
she does such a stellar job that she should be encouraged to stay, --

Hi, Anne, keep up the good work!!!

anne
like you I didn't hear oprah's speech but I did hear the missus clinton's in miss. Anyone addressing an audience with purposeful poor speech is showing distain for that audience. That the audience listens without protest also sends a message to the speaker that their speech pattern is acceptable. Listening to the speech after it is given one must wonder why the speakers have such distain for their audience. and you know what i'm talkin about

sophia
I watched the speech, and her accent was evident before and after the recitation of the poem.

Carry on....

wildwest: You know I do... :-)
However, this whole osama-obama -vs- HELLary is going to be fun to watch.

Several months ago Dennis Miller said that IF obama somehow managed to get enough support that he was a "threat" to HELLary, he'd best have his head on a swivel.

Little did Dennis Miller know! Ha Ha Ha

Be SURE to look at Newsbusters.org and the YouTube video with Jodi Miller. What a hoot! You'll LOVE it! :-)

oh geeze, the IDIOT is baaaack!
Things were looking up for a while....

YLG; Uh oh, BIG mistake to engage

"psycho psophia!"

Some posters are just best ignored! LOL

And the dumber and more vile and vulgar, the more they should be ignored.

Anne
Don't worry about me!!

I'm still savoring my mohammedchops, so there's not much of a chance of anyone putting me in a bad mood.

Umm, umm, GOOD!!!!

sophia stupid
your still stupid, but we already knew that. your a democrat.

YLG: "mohammedchops?" That's the best!

You and Katy always make me laugh!

If you haven't already, check out Katy's post on Dr. Sowell's column this morning. What a hoot!

But, mohammedchops not withstanding.... LOL

truthseeker: True! But, using "stupid" &
"democrat" and sophia in the same sentence is kind of redundant.... LOL

Actually, it's IS redundant! But, heaven knows, sometimes there is JUST NO OTHER way to say it.

LOL

Anne
I did read katy's post, and almost passed out laughing! I was wiping tears from my eyes....!

The mohammedchops came about on Dr. Adams' column. Go read my post on it!!

YLG: Geeze, what time.. there are always

a ga-zillion posts on Adam's column.

Anne
It was my 10:26 AM post.

Keep in mind I was a little unPC....;-)

anne, ylg
I guess I fail to understand how our side can see and hear an event and totally misunderstand the intent of the speaker. With reference to the missus clinton, we are continually told she is the most intelligent woman in the known universe. Yet this highly trained woman with a long public speaking career is one of the worst public speakers on record. That she feels the need to resort to ebonics when addressing blacks is bizarre to say the least. But her overuse of that irritating phrase, you know, is the worst speech pattern that she employs. Is she using the exprtession to tell us we are no more than idiots that we fail to understand what she is saying or is she pulling us into her myriad of conspiracy theories that we at her behest must subscribe to. And you know what i'm talking about

For Obama to win...
He will have to drop that racist preacher friend of his.

Anne, YLG, I have returned, my valiant
Valkyries. Although I cannot personally attest to his feelings, I'm sure Wagner would be impressed. So, what have we here? Do my nostrils pick up the scent of a lib, or is it merely Sophia on the loose again?

Oh where oh where is Joe Horn when you need him?

wildwest
It is, without a doubt, extremely annoying to listen to her at any speaking engagement. The first time I heard her speak, she was on a morning show showing off a cookie recipe. OH, MY EVERLOVING GOD, SHE NEVER FINISHED A SENTENCE PROPERLY!!! THE RUN-ONS WERE ATROCIOUS!!!

I would love to be present when she says, "You know...", and just interrupt her and ask her, "No, I don't. Could you please explain in complete sentences?"

anne
sorry for being redundant.

MotleyCrue
Our "crush" has returned triumphant from the post office....

Wagner was a wimp. You should have called me "Tosca", instead.

Joe Horn....??? HAHAHAHAHA!!!!

YLG: One of the all time funniest posts

on Town Hall... EVER....

"So, in order to not offend myself, henceforth said food will be known as "mohammedchop". This term is far less offensive to me."

I'm not sure, but I suspect that line is pretty close to comic literary genius... LOL LOL LOL

truthseeker: Well, sometimes we just

can't help it... LOL

When it comes to liberals and psycho psophia, what can I tell you.....

Anne
I was really...UPSET....to find that , all this time, one of my favorite foods was considered a derogatory name for a person of my nationality.

I'm glad all of the insane Puertoricans live in Philly, and not here.

YLG: Who knew? Not me!
But I think "mohammedchop" will be a new and well used term in MY house. LOL

Anne
I'm 41 years old, my dad is 75, and my mom is 61.....

AND NOT ONE PUERTORICAN I KNOW THOUGHT THAT "PORKCHOP" WAS A DEROGATORY TERM!!!!

Proof positive morons infest the parenthesis states....;-)

anne
I think I will rename my van mohammed. This way I can rundown libs and not suffer any guilt. In fact the van will be doing it's sacred duty, eliminating non believers and various conspiracy theorists. But if my van is destroyed doing it's sacred duty will that mean I will get a new and fancier model. In discussing this idea with the van's computer system, it isn't interested in carousing with 60-70 new vans but will be satisfied with a replacement vehicle for it's favorite driver

have you ever
noticed that you have to have the willing suspension of disbelief when you hear a democrat talk to think anything they say is true. tells you a lot about their supporters.

robert the braindead
spouts some more ignorance. whats new

ever notice
that you feel the need to take a shower after robert posts.uggh

ylg What?
I thought you said you were in your late thirties :) You will always look about 30 in my minds eye :)

Ron
(blushing fiercely...)

No, my friend, I'm 41, but as I like to say, I recntly celebrated the 12th anniversary of my 29th birthday!

i
would call you a youngster

truthseeker: Exactly! "braindead robert"

He's going to be one sorry little excuse when the authorities knock on his door....

Mr. Illiterate roberto, who,
-- can't even spell "receive" correctly
-- doesn't know how to use an apostrophe
-- doesn't have a 2nd grade grasp of English grammar
-- is a LIAR
-- is a FAKE
-- is a FRAUD
-- grasps onto a typo and makes SUCH an issue..
-- violates the “Uniform Code of Military Justice” with almost ever post about seven times just this morning. He’s identified himself as “Capt.” enough on too many threads…

Hey wobbie, remember this name... LOL

Honorable Donald C. Winter, Secretary of the Navy

wobbie is burnt toast! Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha

truthseeker
A youngster? Moi?

Hardly! I like to think I'm young enough to know what I want, and old enough to go get it!!

Does anyone smell toast burning...?

thats cool
me to

sophia
No, no, it wasn't a Caucasian who caused the whole ruckus!

A minor league team in Philadelphia had named one of their mascots "Porkchop", since he is of the porcine persuasion. Some Puertorican members of the community cried "FOUL" because they said it (porkchop) is a derogatory term for a Puertorican. The team has renamed the mascot.

Please keep in mind no Puertorican I know, and I know MANY, find this term offensive, and more than one Puertorican has questioned the motive, if any, behind this incident.

As to you knwing all the slang, the fact that you don't know this term, and are married to a Peruano, just gives me more proof about the bogusness of this whole crudola.

Thus, my renaming the food "mohammedchops".

man, sophia stupid and robert
brain dead posted. guys i'll see you later i feel the need to go take a shower.

YLG: Toast Burning? That would be robert

He's the only idiot around here who is headed for the slammer... for impersonating an officer. Ha Ha Ha

Must be he's using "Rockhead Jones" because "Robert" got banned again.. LOL

"All Americans are doing is opening the windows to let the smell out.

Soon robusto the rock-head will be gone....

The left are like sheep
and need someone"famous" to lead them around.

devout agnostic
point out where I have defended the president. I have stated numerous times I think he should face impeachment for his refusal to defend our southern borders. I believe that upon leaving officve he will become no more than a non entity. There is no doubt that he butchers the language and uses words totally out of context that he certainly seems not to understand. Your facts concerning the election are misp[laced. It was the florida supreme court that screwed up the florida recount. But the dims also bear a great amount of responsibility. Running two incredibly weak candidates in all dull and heinz-kerry the results would have been far worse without the complicity of the msm that is no more than an active wing of the dim party.

Obama supporters
Please answer two questions. 1) Name Obama's greatest achievment as an Illinois state legislator. 2) Name Obama's greatest achievement as a United State's Senator. And, successfully running for office with the racketeering, criminal Illinois machine at your back is not an accomplishment, it is a liability that must someday be paid back. Come on Libs. Start it off.

3wire
he sponsored and got passed state reforms in ethics, health and wefare reform.

he sponsored 152 bills in the senate including bills on immigration with mcccain and spector, including the secure fence bill.

you might look up the coburn-obama transparecny bill.

you have not done your homework

Obama's machine
Judging from the incredible number of senate resolutions introduced by your savior, I'd say he is in fact a wonderous person. How he manages to campagin every day all over the country, and yet introduce a bill a day in the U.S. Senate means he... Must be relying on the democratic machine to write legislation for him. What a publicity stunt. I'll bet he hasn't even read 10% of the superfluous garbage bills submited under his name. So, besides running a stop sign or two, what other qualifications does he have to be POTUS? Oh, I know, he feels good, he sounds good, and oh, he's so handsome.

OBAMA THE HAPPY BABY KILLER
Just put "jill stanek" into the exact box of your search engine.

For well over a decade it has been a common practice in many states (including Obama's Illinois) to forgo the usual troublesome abortion procedures and chemically induce early labor. Alas sometimes the little mites are born breathing, and crying.
Well, says Obama and his his baby killing pals, we could have aborted them so by definition let's just say they were. I mean its a mistake that they are alive right?
So what Obama's merry madcap medical supporters did was put the living babies into utility closets and close the door. There in the dark all alone the little ones would usually die of thirst if something else didn't get them before. In some states physicians took the initiative and stabbed the little ones in the back with a scalpel.
When legislation was proposed in Illinois to ban this kind of infanticide, Obama as chairman of the relevant committee, prevented it from going to a vote three times. He also voted against it as a U.S. Senator. Geez, even Hillary voted for that one. The practice is now pretty much ended. Obama still stands behind his vote.

I wonder when God is going to lift the veil from the eyes of America and so that all can see the humanity of these tykes, and go back to protecting them from the evil baby killing doctors, and the baby hating, man hating feminazis who are the avant guarde of the "woman's movement?"

One might wonder how a doctor can do such a thing to a tiny infant, but then one thinks of how the medical community cooperated with Hitler, and I guess that explains everything.

Why I don't trust Oprah's judgement

I have seen her bad judgement in action a couple of times recently.

The first is the nutritionist she hooked up with, and was helping him advertise his books. After she went on his diet, she gained about 60 pounds, seemingly overnight.

The second time is with the school she sponsored in Africa.

The warning signs were there. Like the Red Chinese, the schools allowed the children NO contact with their families, except for a couple of times a year. This is the way the Commies treat children, so that they can brainwash them.

So when the world found out that at least one of the matrons at the school was sexually molesting the girls, I was not surprised.

Yet Oprah continues to bankroll that h&11 hole.

Now she endorses a baby killer.

Sheesh!

1. It is always amusing to note the way the postings degenerate into insults and name-calling when certain individuals infest the site.
2. Obama is not quaified to be President, but then, none of the current crop of pestilential candidates, from either "major party," is qualified to be president. I am reminded of the currently running Wendy's ads, the theme of which is, "Choice don't mean a thing when there is nothing good to choose."

Obama's Pagan World View
I don't know if Obama is saved. But I do know his world view is pagan and not biblical. Of course that has been the problem with the so called black "christian" churches for 50 years.

B. Hussein Obama
Well of course "Teacher" and "Wild West" have it right, much as it distresses some of those who no doubt feel much better about themselves now that they (like their co-religionists in Hollywood) can at last support some black person for President. Never mind whether he has any demonstrated qualifications or not--Joe Biden, honest as usual, had it right, when he said the reason people support Obama is because finally we have a well-dressed and spoken black. And yes, whether you accept it or not Mr. Sharpton, those qualities are distressingly rare among many American blacks today as everyone knows (but can't usually say).

So I would ask who is the real "racist"-- someone who looks for the same qualifications in a candidate regardless of color or ethnicity, or those supporting a candidate whose only apparent reason for being so widely promoted is in fact his color!

(and BTW, strange how little Mr. Osama Obama has to say about Islamic radicalism whenever the topic of American security is raised...)

Great article
Oprah didn't just endorse him, she annoited him. Only thing missing was a crown.

In all her years, there apparently was never ever a democrat candidate she could annoit black or white. Could it possibly because she has a blank- sheet black?

You see, Sharpton, Jackson and Mosely-Braun had controversial records so she couldn't endorse them. Now, Obama has no real record on which to judge him and he talks nice and is black. The plus for her is as Rich describes so well is how him emotion laden message fits well for her touchy fely treacle. (Did you ever read the books she endorsed. Full of sticky honey, happy endings. Even "Anna Karenn" is overly romantic although long seen as a classic.

Obama & Oprah
This morning on GMA she said she is not endorsing Obbie because he is black. She likes his message. In other words he is a lib.

Where is Hal?
Has he been given the old heave-ho?

RA
exactly how many black churches have you attended to come to the conclusion that for 50 years they have been teaching "pagan" religion.

please show us your evidence and the studies you have done to come to this conclusion.

by the way obama is catholic.

Oprah hubris
It takes a lot of nerve to make your name as host of an entertainment talk show and believe this entitles you to tell millions of people how to vote. Pretty typical of liberal celebrities, though.

And it's pretty sad that women pretend to be independent, only to let mommy Oprah tell them how they should vote. Regardless of what she says, Oprah is endorsing Obama because he's black - period.

Is it just me?

I'm sure that everyone here will miss him. JUST about as much as they miss a hemorhhoid.

Sorry, but he's more like herpes.

And I hate to say it, but I think he'll find a way to come back. He can't live without posting his arrogant superiority.

Good point

But I think he'll find it very difficult this time. Of course we've thought that before.
