Poll
Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

President Obama killed a fly during an interview with CNBC's John Harwood. Left-leaning media immediately proclaimed the slapping of the fly as further proof that Obama is a mystical being - not just your average run-of-the-mill President of the United States.

But others were not as fawning. The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals - PETA - immediately called for Obama to be sent to Guantanamo Bay as a musca domestica terroristus.

Buddhists, too, claimed Obama had done damage to the universe. According to Wikipedia, Buddhists believe:

"The doctrine of rebirth holds that any human could be reborn as an animal, and any animal could be reborn as a human. An animal might be a reborn dead relative, and if you looked far enough back in one's infinite series of lives, you would eventually perceive every animal to be related to you in some way."

Yeah, well, putting that aside for a moment. Obama is finding out that honeymoons, like house flies, don't last forever.

According to NBC Deputy Political Director, Mark Murray, a new poll by the Wall Street Journal and NBC News shows:

-- Nearly seven in 10 Americans have serious reservations about the federal government's ownership stake in General Motors.

-- Almost 60 percent say that President Obama and Congress should worry more about keeping the deficit down - even if that means it will take longer for the economy to recover.

-- Fewer than half of Americans have confidence in the president's policies to improve the economy.

-- The president's overall approval rating is at 56 percent, which is down five percentage points from April.

The poll also shows that

-- Only 54 percent approve of Obama's handling of foreign policy (and this poll was in the field while the Iranian situation was still developing).

-- Less than half (48 percent) agree with "the elimination of procedures such as waterboarding to get information from terrorists."

-- Only 39 percent agree with closing Guantanamo Bay.

Whoa! Check, Please. What happened to that whole walking on water thing for Obama?

But wait! There's more good news. On the question "In general, do you approve or disapprove of the job that Congress is doing?" Twenty nine percent said yes, while 57 percent said no.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi's approval rating - in the wake of her claim that the CIA had lied to Congress - has dropped to 24 percent, five percentage points lower than the Congress as a whole.

Twenty six percent view Dick Cheney favorably, which is up eight points from April.

The White House can still take some comfort in the fact that 72 percent of the respondents believe that Obama inherited our economic problems, but that number is down 12 percentage points from February.

Decode? Obama is beginning to run out of time to keep blaming Bush for the economic situation. Sooner rather than later this will be Mr. Obama's recession.

Unfortunately for Republicans, 45 percent hold a favorable view of the Democratic Party but only 25 percent hold a favorable view of the Republican Party.

Americans are losing their zeal for Obama, but Republicans have not been able to find a message (or a messenger) who can scoop up those disaffected Americans and rally them to the GOP banner.

Attacking Obama doesn't work. Attacking Democrats doesn't work.

Maybe the GOP should go back to the old ways: You can attract more flies with honey …

The Cycle Continues
These polling numbers show that the political cycle is alive and well. Winning candidates and parties always look really good when they espouse their wonderful programs that will solve all our problems. Then the reality of governing arrives and the real world intrudes on those dream worlds of the politicians. More than nearly any politician in my lifetime, Obama raised totally unrealistic expectations about himself and his programs. The fall from those initial approval ratings will be especially steep for him.

As for the Republicans, the they lost the election because they had noting positive to put before the citizens. So far, they still have nothing, even though the democrats are trashing the country every way they can.

Pres. Perez Obama?
The President accomplished little in the matter of the pesky fly beyond qualifying himself to judge beauty pagents after he leaves office.

Having viewed the segment more than once, I cannot avoid the conclusion that from any angle, Mr. Obama is a prissy fellow.

That entire set-up from the anticipation of the slap with his contemptuous face to his draw-back and then the slap, gave off pure effeminate male. I could hear his sub-text, “dirty, dirty, fly."

It's not a new view that Mr. Obama is a feminine male. Gestures, walk, facial emo's, Mr. Obama is not graceful, he's frilly and dainty.. The fly episode was just the tableau verite of it.

Ying or yang? You decide.

Amen!!!
"Maybe the GOP should go back to the old ways: You can attract more flies with honey … "

Time to present some ideas of your own concerning working class America. "Starve in the dark, ignorant retches," is not a winning political strategy.

Depends on the meaning of honey...
As always, it isn't clear that Republicans want anything much different than democrats except to be the ones in charge. When you are in charge, you inevitably want more to be in charge of. It is the "It's good to be king syndrome."

As always, an ignorant or disengaged electorate votes for the prettiest candidates offering the sweetest soundbites. Champions of liberty and the constitution need to overcome the bias of the media and the lack of attention and concern by average citizens by presenting ideas in digestible ways. It is, was, and always will be difficult to beat a panderer until he has lost all credibility. That is why the politics of destruction has evolved. At some point it became impossible to promise more than the opponent, so you have to destroy the opponent to win.

There it is... modern politics in a nutshell.

Easy as pie
It would be easy as pie for Republicans to attract a following.

Take the health care for example. Republicans should simply refuse to even discuss the government takeover of the medical industry -- get up and walk right out of the chamber. Tell the first Media folks that you run across, that you have no interest whatsoever in the government taking over the medical industry and whatever bill the Democrats come-up with -- you'll show-up and vote 'no' on it.

They should then draft legislation getting rid of the government laws and regulations that have helped put us in this mess to begin with and bring it forward. And when the Democrats shoot it down, tell anyone and everyone listening that the Democrats are not interested in improving health care, but rather taking it over -- in which they will run it into the ground just like they have Medicare.

The Republicans just need to stop trying to accomodate Liberals and be a little more John Wayne and far less Pee-Wee Herman. Do that and the people will come - guaranteed.

i can' believe
How he calls out his critics, Rush and Fox.
Isn't that about all. I guess he thinks everyone should agree with him. Thats right Fox is a big enough megaphone. Remember when speaking truth to power was a liberal virtue?

economy
Obama said during his campaign that he was going to fix the economy, so far all he has done is run up the deficit to historical highs.Very few lobs have been created as the Govt interferes more and more with private enterprise. I don't see us going anywhere but down.

Terry
Sounds like a plan to me.
Mary, he's whining about Fox, Rush and Hannity because as vonryan says, he's effiminate..a girlyman who just wants everyone to sit down, and shut up and bask in the afterglow of his Oneness.
it's pretty bad when the most powerful person (I hesitate to use Man) in the world is so proud of himself for swatting a fly. He gloats about that while the world burns and our country is sinking. If he weren't in such a powerful, albeit questionable position given we don't know his qualifications to be Constitutionally legitimately in the presidency, it would really be pathetic, his drive for love and approval (in all the wrong places.) My adopted son has diagnosed personality disorder and I see a lot of traits in Barry that I see in my son..not too comforting when you know, unlike my son, Barry has his finger on the red button.

Tea Party
The man is psychotic. I don't mean that in a flippant way, I mean it sincerely.

Ever notice how Obama is never gracious? The most powerful and wealthy people in the world can be gracious when graciousness is called for -- Obama never is.

We can notice too how he always, always uses "I" and never "we".

Notice as well at how everything he proposes, when he speaks about it he will almost always preface what he proposes by saying: "For far too long this country hasn't..." "For far too long this country has neglected..." This man believes that everything that has been done before him -- has been done wrong. But he's going to straighten it all out for us.

Everyone he meets he shakes their hand and puts his left hand around their arm. He doesn't do it in an embracing kind of way, he does it in a "I am bigger than you" way.

When he gives speeches, he really isn't even talking to anyone -- he's acting-out an image of greatness. He's constantly posing, holding his head high and gazing above the audience. It's as if he is consciously visualizing an image of what greatness is supposed to look like.

When he walks to or from a speech, he smiles and waves at someone in the crowd. He does it not out of pleasure in seeing or noticing someone, but with the look that he knows he is thrilling them -- he then basks in that adulation.

I'll put it this way -- remember Jim Jones and Jonestown? Jim Jones is the person Barrack Obama most reminds me of.

GOP? What GOP?
So long as infanticide retains the appearance of legitimacy as "law of the land"; and the Obama Syndicate and the Democrats continue stealing the resources of the nation to oppress us economically; and the the Dems and the "liberal" establishment continue to threaten our free-speech and gun-ownership rights to oppress us politically; and the "news" media keep shilling and prostituting for Obama, Pelosi, Frank, Reid, et al; and Obama is permitted to keep bowling his statist appointees right over us -- all while the GOP remains docile and soft-spoken in the hideous face of all this, doing nothing but talking stuff in their fund-raiser letters, my back will remain turned to the GOP.

So long as the GOP keeps twiddling its thumbs over "diversity" and Twitter, and prefers in public to keep its distance from icky voters like me -- "values" voters, religious-righters -- I will keep my distance from the GOP.

The GOP needs me A LOT more than I need the GOP. Reagan understood. These twerps don't.

If and when Michael Steele and the GOP decide they want to show some spine, when they want to start calling spades spades, then we can do business.

Until then, my "status" and "membership" with the RNC will remain as described on all their fund-raiser mailings to me: lapsed.

Re: Terry.
Excellent appraisal Sir.

I note your paragraph, six (6), "[w]hen he gives speeches ..." as a stellar examination of his delivery and the import of it.

As to Jim Jones, well the drugs were heavy in Mr. Jones and there is little to associate Mr. Obama with that. However, the Peoples Temple nature of Mr. Obama's cult of personality may have been replaced by Acorn and a new goose stepping Americorps.

I'll be discussing your expressed view with others.

Great attention to the details that matters.

I'm NOT feelin' it...
about the Republicans. I think something's gone horribly wrong!! they mostly but not all seem to be confused and pandering and unable to cohere as a group. Mr. Republicans reps where are your spines?

To want to take back and elevate Colin Powell, and then to put Michael Steele up as a spokesman--- man, you've got to have more than those two going for you. Powell was a deserter who helped to put Obama where he is. Michael Steele appears to be trying on a lot of hats. I won't be fooled again-- as the song goes.

I voted McCain but that was a cautionary tale because Obama did a lot of dirty work to skew the election process that we still don't know the half of. So much for the values and principles. of the Prissydent.

If you get a chance, read the letter on Glenn Beck's site (glennbeck.com) and sign the petition. Also go on over to the Online American Grand Jury and ask to be put on one of the upcoming juries. Make the time you have count. http://americangrandjury.org

Democrats with bull horns
When the media hands the bull-horn to the Dems, blatantly ignoring the dissenting voice of the Republicans and other conservative minded people in congress, it's hard to bring any kind of alternate ideas or options to the public. And with a near fillibuster-proof liberal congress, the conservatives in Congress couldn't get anything done, even if the MSM was to give equal time to the Republicans.

It sucks to say it, but Rep. need to wait until 2010, and then jump all over the massive spending and leviathan like growth government has experienced since obama has been in charge. The Democrats did it in '08, give it back to them in 2010.
Right now, the media and kool aid drinkers are still drunk off of their adoration of the anointed one. When America sobers up, maybe some of the fence sitters that helped Obama rise to power will say to themselves " Man, I ain't doing that s#!t again!"

buyers remorse
I'm hearing it from every dem I know.

I kill flies all the time

A person related to a fly seems quite a stretch. Maybe Barbara Boxer.

The world according to Liberals.

The Liberals at Peta think its wrong to kill a fly.

They also think its ok to kill an unborn baby.

One reason Reps. lost in the election
was cons. stayed home. Many wrote on TH here how they were sending a message to *show* those Reps. by not voting or voting Bob Barr. I hope they are happy with their message now.

The Reps. have offered counters to the health krap the Big O and socialists are touting, so anyone who wants can look it up.

The House Reps. have been excellent in opposing ALL the leg. passed there, but the House has an over 100 Dem. Cong. majority. Ergo, it is Mitch McConnell and the 40 Reps. in the Senate that are having to hold the ultimate line.

If you don't just want cap and trade raising your elec. bill $1200 a year and don't want some DC bureaucrat telling you your family can't have a med. procedure because he thinks you should really accept dying, then bloggers here should call and write Republicans and tell them to keep saying NO.

All they get from the MSM is that they're racists and bigots and sexists, yadda yadda.

Senate line is 202-224 (225)-3121.

Go to teappartypartriots.org and find a place to demonstrate on the 4th.

See!!
He's not afraid to take on the enemy!

Killing that fly proves it!!

What a MAN!!!

North Korea! Did you see that!!

Obama's not afraid of you! See how he swatted that big old tough fly?

How Big

How big a fly would it take to eat obama and swallow his ego?

DavidS
I can't express my viewpoint any better than you have. I do wonder how many like minded people are out there and can only hope that there are enough to put a stop to the liberal agenda in 2010.

FLY IN MY EYE
The president slaps down a fly and this is supposed to be mystically symbolic that he is something other than a moral and mental midget! That he's something other than the biggest fool ever to assume the office of president! That he's other than a weak and gutless man in a job that way transcends his meager capabilities for domestic and world leadership! I don't know about you my friends but whenever I see this pathetic little girlie man I have a fly in my eye and my ears are annoyed by a senseless buzzing sound.

Click my name and read my articles on Obama and Iran

The Fly
If noboma can kill a fly that's sitting on hisarm, lap and that makes him mystical?

What does it mean when I can catch a fly on the fly and release him or her unhurt?

Perhaps Presidental material?

Could'nt do any worse.

Obama swats fly-
whines about Fox news! What a thin skinned phony he is! I am glad that Victor Davis Hanson called him a "kook" and hope that more Americans wake up to this kook and his dangerous policies. He is wrecking our economy and now wants to destroy our health care system. He is telling the Mad Mullahs that they are ok while pushing Israel to the brink. He is a closet Islamist. If Clinton was our first black president, Obama is our first Moslem president. His fudning of abortion on demand abroad will jack up the abortion rate. He has done virtually nothing right and that is a sad fact.

ACTUALLY,
it would be perfectly appropriate for Obama to continue to blame Congress and the regulators for the economic problems. Oh, I forgot! He was part of the Congress that did/enabled all the mischief.

Funniest on this story!!!
This was the funniest blog on this subject, seriously http://www.theblacksphere.net! HYSTERICAL and you will be hooked!

GOP
The Republican Party has no leadership. Michael Steele is a joke, sending out surveys that ask questions the answers to which we already know, including Steele. Look busy make-work, not leadership, but happy to ask for money. 2012 is three years away, and there is no obvious contender within the GOP.

Remove Steele and replace him with Newt Gingrich, then let Newt put together an alternative program to the Demo-Derby, stopping trivial criticism of Obuma. That grows old fast.
The man is plunging us rapidly into socialism and we complain about his dates. Give us a program around which we can rally, and a leader to champion it. Please!

Obozzo & The Fly
Existential arguments aside, Africans have lots of experience swatting flies. That is a genetically derived gift from his Kenyan father and probably some early training he got from the folks at his place of birth. WHERE'S THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE!?!

barry kills a fly,
LOL.HE IS THE LEFTS SUPER HERO!LOL!

Bush responsible for the economy?
This is the classic Liberal tactic of pointing the finger elsewhere when they screw the pooch and the modern Republican modus operandi, a complete inability to make an effective counter argument based on the available factual evidence. It's all about emotion, not facts.

True, the Republicans get absolutely no help from the liberal media but neither do they take advantage of the media they've got, such as Fox News. Fox is a news organization not a stealth member of the Republican Political machinery and they're not going to do battle on their own.

I agree that this is one of the main reasons why Obama gets away with saying he "inherited this disaster resulting from the failed policies of the last 8 years" but why are the Republicans letting him get away with it? Why are the NRCC, NRSC, Michael Steel, John Boehner, Newt Gingrich, etc. not out there debunking this myth? There is evidence damning to the Democrats for this economic disaster and plenty of it.

I don't get it and it's the reason I have a problem with the Republican leadership. They don't want to get down in the gutter but that's where the fight is. Obama is a big target but we're shooting at duck pins waiting for a misdirected public to wake up on their own.

What a Golding moment!
Before all you blithering geniuses from Harvard, Yale, et. al., bust your gut because "that idiot doesn't even know how to spell "golden," jokes on you! Our President has earned a new title (apologies to Ms. Boxer because she already thinks she owns one!):

He now can add "Lord" to his messianic birthright. Yes, Lord of the Flies . . .

And Voting
For Moderate Republicans want work either. I believe all of them Across the Aisle Folks love President Obama as much or more than the African Americans do. Right now they are trying to find every way possible to say that they want this President to succeed. So Republicans want to destroy businesses, own businesses, destroy jobs, buy foreign oil, and tax the American People to death. Obama may be loosing some of his luster, but we have Republicans in the Senate working hard polishing the President up everyday. I think Republicans may want to call it the John McCain Latina Syndrome. You know he is still a Senator...right???

The Messiah
is a murderer of exoskeletal beings!!!
Murderer!!!
He has attacked Gaia!!!
And it was no accident!!!
Rise up greens! Rise up PETA! Rise up Pantheists!
Obama laughed, while Gaia's child died!!!

Mr. Galen
I must disagree that Mr. Obama is a mystical being. If he were, flies would quietly sit on his shoulder and listen to his words...they would never try to irritate him.....

He killed a fly? No kidding?
The Usurper in Chief killed a fly... wow... that's amazing! I'm so impressed.

I hope all the fawning liberals aren't claiming to be Christian... Christians already have a Messiah.

Obama the genocidal killer
Next thing you know, PETA will be calling for the International Court in the Hague to bring Obama up on charges of "fly genocide".

vonryanexpress-CA
Amazing!!Really, my Stepdaughter who has a very real dislike for *Girlymen* has long help that assessment of mr Ob!! Frankly, I do NOT pay enough attention to him to verify/dismiss any *Theory*.. I cannot see his image without wondering, not always in silence, what his position in life would now be had he been born a POOR, White Man?? I suspect NOT SO MUCH!!
