Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

Attorney General Eric Holder, who is Black, gave a speech to the staff at the Justice Department the other day marking Black History Month. As part of his remarks he said:

"Though this nation has proudly thought of itself as an ethnic melting pot, in things racial we have always been and I believe continue to be, in too many ways, essentially a nation of cowards."

Holder may have been absent the day that we elected a Black President. I hope that the next time President Obama holds a press conference one reporter in the room asks him if he supports his Attorney General's opinion that America is "a nation of cowards."

Holder went on to say,

"If we are to make progress in this area, we must feel comfortable enough with one another and tolerant enough of each other to have frank conversations about the racial matters that continue to divide us."

Holder's point was that while we seem to get along just fine in the workplace, Americans "self-segregate" on our private time. He said:

"Saturdays and Sundays, America in the year 2009 does not in some ways differ significantly from the country that existed almost 50 years ago. This is truly sad."

What is "truly sad" is that in the first month of the Administration of Barack Obama Holder couldn't give a speech celebrating the progress we have made.

He could have given a speech celebrating the fact that, notwithstanding his equating 2009 with 1959, on any weekend Mr. Holder can eat in any restaurant, sleep in any hotel, sit in any seat on any bus, drink from any water fountain and … dare we say it … have any job he is qualified for.

Actually, Holder has a job he is patently not qualified for: public speaker.

I'm comfortable enough. I don't walk around talking about race because I don't care about race.

I thought that was the goal we were supposed to have been aiming for.

NEW TOPIC:

Let us now turn to the case of United States Senator Roland Burris, Democrat of Illinois. According to the NY Times:

Mr. Burris is under investigation by the Senate Ethics Committee, as well as an Illinois prosecutor, over his evolving descriptions of what transpired before he was asked to fill the Senate seat vacated by Barack Obama.

Evolving. I love that.

The other Senator from Illinois, Dick Durbin (also a Democrat), said "the accuracy and completeness of his testimony and affidavits have been called into serious question."

Translation? He lied.

Burris was appointed by the former Democratic Governor of Illinois Rod Blagojevich to fill the seat left vacant by the election of Barack Obama to be President. Blagojevich was wiretapped demanding money, or favors, or both in return for making the appointment.

He appointed Burris who was not immediately sworn in because the Illinois Secretary of State refused to certify Blagojevich's appointment. In the end Burris was admitted to the Senate because, it was held, he should not be punished because the guy who appointed him was a crook.

During impeachment proceedings against Blagojevich in the Illinois House, Burris testified he had no contact with Blagojevich nor with any of Blago's associates prior to his being appointed.

Last weekend, according to the AP:

"Burris released an affidavit saying he had spoken to several Blagojevich advisers, including Robert Blagojevich, the former governor's brother and finance chairman, who Burris said called three times last fall asking for fundraising help."

Then a couple of days ago, Burris "changed his story again when he admitted trying, unsuccessfully, to raise money for Blagojevich."

Now, that's an evolving position if ever I read one.

Here's where these two stories come together: Mr. Holder is the Attorney General of the United States. If Mr. Burris - who is also Black - has, in the measured words of Durbin, submitted affidavits and given testimony which may have been inaccurate and/or incomplete, isn't this something the Justice Department might want to take a look at?

The Justice Department's Criminal Division has a unit - the Public Integrity Section - which is specifically responsible for investigating this kind of behavior.

The question is: Is Eric Holder comfortable enough about race relations in America to open a case against the only Black member of the United States Senate?

It just goes to prove: Bad behavior is color blind.

Take the Mirror Test.
I suggest that everyone (including the Attorney General) take a close look in a mirror and study carefully what particular shade of skin they see on the face in the mirror; and while doing so, ask themselves if the color of that skin or any other color of skin - or eyes or hair for that matter - is really of any significance whatsoever, or whether, in fact, the real issue of concern is about what goes on inside the skull in the brain that is currently looking at the face in the mirror as well as in other human brains – the intelligence, knowledge, judgment, determination, character, experience, work ethic, honesty, language skills, learning ability, trustworthiness, personality and all the other qualities and capabilities related to a particular human brain.
Racial discrimination is illegal in our country and if instances of racial discrimination are taking place the Attorney General needs to see that such cases are prosecuted. Otherwise, perhaps we can agree that skin color is trivial and irrelevant and refocus our attention on the many significant problems we currently face, and put our brains to work on things that actually do matter.

Self-segregation
The reason people self-segregate has more to do with culture than color.

Yes, when it come to race and
gender, we are a nation of cowards, so to speak. When President Clinton opened a dialogue
on rice over a decade ago, he was politely received, but little progress was made. Privately, many accept other races, but often not in private or church life.
Gender is alson a touchy issue with you repubs. The nastiness that current SoS Clinton experience on the campaign trail was disheartening and sad and eye-opening. We have come a long way, but have many miles to travel before the naysayers among us run out of hate, nastiness and bigotry on these two issues.

Seriously....??????
"Saturdays and Sundays, America in the year 2009 does not in some ways differ significantly from the country that existed almost 50 years ago. This is truly sad."

So if I spend my free time with my family I'm racist because our family's not multi racial????????????

Oh and I work on the weekends and my work place has plenty of variety

And does my church count- last I checked 5000 people attend it weekly and there is plenty of "mixing of the races"

Where does these guys come up with their comments????????? Seriously!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What Makes for Cowardice?

It's interesting that on the day following the inciteful rhetoric of our erstwhile Attorney General, that such an uproar would ensue about some perceived racism alleged to have been shown in a political cartoon which played off the rampage of a wild chimpanzee, in which police officers, after putting down the rampaging chimp, are quoted as saying, "Looks like now they'll have to get someone else to write the next stimulus bill."

The very idea that this would bring out the usual chorus of race-hustlers, race-baiters, and racism whiners; all claiming that this was a racist attack against Barack Hussein Obama, is what exemplifies the barriers blacks themselves have put up to block any serious and meaningful attempts for anyone to even attempt to broach a discussion of race with members of the so-called "black community."

Are we so thin-skinned as to not have the courage, ourselves, to make a distinction between an insult to the writers of the "stimulus" [Nancy Pelosi,Harry Reid, and Congress] and Barack Obama [who as far as what has been submitted into evidence, so far, has never written anything but two self-aggrandizing narcissistic tomes about what it was like to be conflicted as a mixed-race child]?

Are not the real cowards the group of left-leaning blacks who predictably play the race card, making an opportunity to do so, when none exists in the first place?

How can anyone broach the subject of race and responsibility when all they're ever met with is a hysterical response from black people and their so-called leaders, whenever any subject is broached which upsets our comfort-level with being perceived as perpetual victims of the very "racism" we use to excuse our own cowardice in taking a responsible approach to getting our own houses in order?

THIS IS OUR HOUSE, NOW!!!
THIS IS OUR HOUSE NOW!

Well, are you ready, Baltimore? (Hat tip - Jeff Quinton) ACORN’s troops are breaking the padlocks and breaking into homes. And this is just the start. Caution: OBAMACORN at work.

A community organization breaks into a foreclosed home in what they are calling an act of civil disobedience.

The group wants to train homeowners facing eviction on peaceful ways they can remain in their homes.

Derek Valcourt reports their actions are not without controversy.

Near Patterson Park, suburb of Baltimore, the padlock on the door and the sign in the window tells part of Donna Hanks foreclosure story.
“The mortgage went up $300 in one month,” said Hanks, former homeowner.

She says the bank refused to modify her loan and foreclosed, kicking her out of the house in September.

The community group ACORN calls Hanks a victim of predatory lending.

"THIS IS OUR HOUSE NOW," said Louis Beverly, ACORN.

And on Thursday afternoon, they literally broke the foreclosure padlock right off the front door and then broke into the house, letting Hanks back in for the first time in months.

YES. THE STIMULUS LAW JUST GAVE ACORN $4B. NOW, WE ARE SUBSTITUTING CRIMINALS.

HEY, COWARD ERIC HOLDER, WHERE ARE THE RICO VIOLATION CHARGES?

Denise,
I believe the act you described is called "breaking and entering" and is against the law. Where are the authorities? ACORN members are not poor people who are losing their homes and should not be pitied or pardoned.
If the laws are not enforced when a certain group break them, those enforced on others are discriminatory.
Without law enforcement we will have chaos, but then that is what Obama is working to obtain.

Unfortunately with Dhimmicruds
Bad behaviour is the norm.

MMaddox

A RICO charge can be made if there are two predicate acts made by at least two individuals in futherance of a felony or felonies.

Breaking and entering is only one possible charge albeit a misdemeanor. If they are committing the theft of assets belonging to another in an amount over a certain dollar amount it can rise to a felony.

So, you have more than one person (a conspiracy) acting in furtherance of a felony (perhaps, in this case and, likely in various states for election law violations, which are felonies, and, of course, misappropriation of federal money in the commission of a felony).

Alice
speak for yourself, it's people like you who are the racists, a sanctimonious ones at that. You use the word "you" and the word "republicans," as far as I can tell it isn't the 'republicans' that feed on race it's the Democrats who have found a cash cow in that
the more they talk about race/rant about race in the churches i.e. Trinity/they can shakedown
the so called 'guilty whites'..Well I'm white, and my heritage is ENGLISH, my ancestors stopped the slave trade). I AM Not guilty of anything and I resent the fact that me and mine are forced to pay reparations via the back door
payoffs for votes for the magicmessiah. My family came over long after the issue was taken care of by the blood of some 600,000 men, mostly teenage boys. If any whites have any guilt about that dead issue, it's because THEY are liberals and RACISTs themselves. The cry of the RACE Wolf is over, I think I can speak for a lot of AMERICANS..not hyphenated but AMERICANS of all races who want to be AMERICANS
and say, WE are done, we're all set, we aren't going to surrender. I'm not a Republican, I am an Independent and Conservative. Put a sock in your mouth, hypocrite.

Just connect the dots...
There is no news here.

Burris...Chicago...Democrat...Crook...

Connect the dots....

Obama...Chicago...Democrat...Crook

Racist
I have had enough of all these racist bs. It is over so get over it!!!!! The entire world is falling apart and we have to worry about this stupid bs???? Wake up and grow up America!

Alice
Black people and women were highly critical of Bush throughout his administration, and haven't shut up yet. Surely some of this criticism was with his policies, not his race or gender. Do you suppose the "nastiness" you mention might have similar legitimate roots? Or maybe only white males can disagree with Bush, or black males with Obama? Without the taint of racism, that is.

OncealwaysaMarine
"Inciteful." I like that. Wish I'd thought of it.

While looking for cowardice, AG Holder might've reviewed his own behavior during the final hours of the Clinton administration. The President had declared a going-out-of-business sale on pardons. Some of the resulting paperwork crossed Holder's desk in the Justice Department.

Holder could've refused to participate in this outrage. He was on his way out in any event. What's the worst that could've happened to him? Termination a day or two ahead of the crowd? Addition to the Clintons' enemies list, which already comprised about two-thirds of the U.S. population? Big whoop. Holder could've taken a stand. Instead, he just pencil-whipped the pile and sent it on. This guy inspires a lot of confidence.

refatsew
Good post!

Black Racism
OK, Mr. Holder. How about that race dialogue. Let's start with you. I want you to start by discussing the bigotry between light-skinned African Americans, such as yourself and Mr. Obama, and those with darker skin.

Don't have a hemhorrage, Alice. Contrary to the belief system of morons such as you, bigotry is not confined to WASP Republicans.

I hate to pick on you TeaParty, but I am an Irishman who happens to know what the English landlords did to the Irish. The potato famine wouldn't have been such a big deal, except that was the only crop available to the poor Irish who were laboring to raise cattle and grain to be sent back to England. When the potato crop went bad, the English turned their backs on the poor Irish. They had the choice of starving or emigrating.

So, anytime you want to have that dialogue, Tea Party, I'll buy you a Guiness if you'll buy me a Bass.

Race relations
Great post, I have often wondered why we need seperate groups, the Black Caucus, Black Studies.I am aware of seperate programs in some organizations to promote "minority" advancement, why not just have one program to promote advancement?... A black or hispanic chamber of commerce? Do they only do business with their own kind? I would challenge some of these groups to open their organizations to some of us "white folks". We waste to much time and effort on this. I have often wondered why an elected official states "this is not in the interest of the ______ community, why not just say you represent your community, period! Some of us vote for the persons character, record etc. as stated by Martin Luther King. Lets judge by a persons character, not the color of their.

I do understand that being the only one, or one of a few in organizations that under-represent groups, but I say be bold and unless some are willing to step forward, others will not follow. Not the attitude that Jackie Robinson had,

Two Americas
Mr. Holders use of "Cowards" is unfortunate since it attacks and the message gets lost. But if we can get beyond his choice of words, his point is we live in two different Americas.

Yes there has been progress, but whites see it as being better than most blacks see it. Whites and blacks do not agree on the state of racism in this country.

Although most people here won't read the NYtimes, there is a good op-ed today that discusses this. Hope you read it.

Obama has failed every Judgment Test

Selecting Tax Cheats for the Obama cabinet.

An Attorney General who thinks American Citizens are 'Cowards'.

Rod Blagojevich - whom Obama campaigned for and endorsed - is just one of the many 'Nefarious' characters which Barack Obama has aligned himself.

Tony Rezko - convicted felon - and Obama had several business dealings.

Obama started his political career in the home of Bill Ayers - unrepentant terrorist.

Ali Abunimah head of a radical Palestanian group received contributions from Obama.

Barack Obama chose his Mentor and spiritual adviser, Jeremiah 'God Damn America' Wright.

The list seems endless - read about more of them on my blog.

http://hisfacts.blogtownhall.com/2008/10/21/obamas_radical_ and_communist_alliances.thtml

The only consistency Barack Obama has shown in his career is 'Bad Judgment'.

We are making progress!
It would be intellectually dishonest to deny the presence of prejudice in our society. I hear whites, blacks, hispanics, and asians in my community all making remarks that slander others who are not "like us." But Mr. Holder gives too little attention to the progress that has been made.

A generation ago I would probably have been in deep trouble with some members of my congregation for officiating at a mixed race marriage. Today it is not a problem. The family is well-received and the husband currently sits on the governing board of our church.

Since my retirement we have been attending another church in what would be considered by some as a "white" neighborhood. It is pleasing to me to see the wide diversity of race reflected in the congregation -- asian, hispanic, black, caucasian are all represented. One of the black families connected with the church is currently staying with a white family while looking for a place of their own. So, I think we have made significant progress. The fact that it goes unheralded is probably a good thing. It means that it isn't a big deal. I will be glad when no one makes a big deal out of the color or ethnic origins of a person who is elected to public office. Then I will know that we have really arrived.

However, prejudice like poverty will always be with us in one form or another. We need to continue to fight against both. But one of the ways to discourage the troops is to only focus on our failings and never on our accomplishments.

Ah yes, let's have meaningful "dialogue"
Seems to me that blacks are bombarded daily and often by their "leaders" and, yes, by pretty much every Democrat whose face meets a camera or whose voice meets a microphone.

I can't imagine that blacks are unaffected by the constant barrage of "you can't do it because whitey won't let you but we can help a tiny bit whereas THEY only want to put you back into slavery" presented by the Dems as good reason to pull the Dem lever in the voting booth. The black "leaders" are even worse, if that's possible.

Bill Cosby was widely castigated when he urged blacks to give up the negativity and work to achieve. Why would any white person be a "coward" and not wish to "discuss" racial matters with a black? Well, even a black guy--a VERY successful black guy--dare not speak the truth.

So far, every black/white dialogue I've ever heard of quickly became a black monologue. Maybe Mr. Holder should show us the way? A real give-and-take dialogue. Yeah, I'll hold my breath.

PJ
Well said.

And your comment that "one of the ways to discourage the troops is to only focus on our failings and never on our accomplishments" really rings true.

But too many people profit from the continuation of the perception of significant bias and its attendant harm. As long as there's profit in that perception, it will be hard to dissuade the black community, as a whole, from their clinging to "racism lives" as an excuse for any failure.

Such a shame, as so many capable blacks fail to thrive in such an environment, which costs both the black community and America dearly.

BLOCKHEAD AG!
Eric Holder should never be where he is…he is also a fraud like Saul Alinsky Obama.

Does he not realize that America just elected a half black man to be President…does he not realize that there are more racist blacks in this country than whites?

Does he not realize that he doesn’t make things better about the racist in the black community when he makes stupid statements like this?

Does he not know that the blacks in this country live a double standard when it comes to white people.

They can call themselves…niggers…but we can’t?

If they don’t want white Americans to call them niggers, they should set an example and not call themselves niggers.

That would be a great start in getting rid of racist in America in the black community…stop being double-minded and double-tongued and grow up and be men and women who are proud to be Americans without the hypen!

========================

JUST ANOTHER DAY IN THE SOCIALIST “REIGN OF BARRY HUSSEIN” AND HIS BLOCKHEAD AG!

A discussion about race ...
It may come as a shock to Mr. Holder and his liberal pals, but unless there is something wrong with my eyes, he is ... part white!

The idea that I would go over to my Asian or African neighbor's house and have a good, rousing discussion about "race" is idiotic. We might discuss football, history, politics, but not race. It's really just not an issue.

His statement was truly idiotic. Most Americans in these days work effectively with people of other races -- Asians, Indians, African Americans, and different types of white Americans -- Hispanics, Scots Irish, etc. In their personal life, some mix across racial lines, some intermarry, some don't.

Another bad dem
Next year, PA will elect a new Governor, because Fast Eddie Rendell will be term-limited out. Which organization would be a natural to hire Rendell next? Hint: He officially made PA THE VOTER FRAUD STATE by his veto and almost half of the dems in the legislature's voting to sanction fraudulent voting.

Denise #7: How soon will ACORN receive their shipment of Mach10 submachineguns, and start giving them to the people put back into the houses, committing the second felony?

gerald #18: Don't forget Black History Month. Why can't we just have American History?

Eileen #24: Obama is half white with a slave-owner descendant, 3/8 arab with a slave-trader descendant, and only 1/8 black - who knows where that comes from?

From Dimwit to Dimwit
Mr Holder, as a dimwit (democrat) might inform a dimwit (ignoramous) like me just what exactly I am supposed to dialog about? An acknowledgement of history? Again!? Or is there something I miss in this because I do tire of this silly brand of tirade and I'd like to move to put it behind us. You know, "progress". If that is allowed.

I can't help but wonder that this was a lame effort to revive Jesse's extortion racket. Color me cynical (color: now you have to respect me) but I don't see the improvement in state of race relations nor in general society by Mr Holder's peculiar rant.

Someone please lay it out for me.

I reserve the right

to be a racist if I choose to be one, or if I'm driven to be one by the likes of Holder, Obama, the black caucus, rap music, street gangs, Rev Wright and Peggy Joseph.

Thirty-six million Americans getting all uppity at once is putting a strain on this old white man's equanamity.

Make that

Equanimity.

Thanks

What?
What does Holder want to discuss? What great guys there are in the Congressional Black Caucus? How to get along with his old boss the NAACP? White guilt to elect Blacks? Reparations?
Acorn? Does he want integrated teams or to play Blacks against whites? The ball is in his court.

cowards? Where ?
Maybe Holder should examine his buddy and boss
Obamama ??!!
If a person chooses to be a racist Like Jesse Jackson,Sharpton, etc. They can...but if that person breaks the Law displaying their racism that is another matter !!! My feelings about a
MEATBALL is my business as of lately most of the
Racism I have seen has been by the blacks!
Let us see..hmmmm..Obama will try to pass a Law
stating that a person can be arrested for their
thoughts ! And Holder will say"yes sir, Mr.
Bossman"!
elvis

No worries to all this..
"God rules his creation. Nothing is outside his authority—not even the leaders of the nations and kingdoms of this world. No person is placed in a position of power outside of God's will. This can be a great comfort when we see leaders take over in various places, especially leaders with whom we do not agree.

So what does this mean for the cruel tyrants of the world? It means that they too are under God's authority. Satan may author their evil acts, but their wrongdoing can only occur within the boundaries God sets. Why those boundaries are where they are for some nations is a question only God can answer. But we can rest assured that no power is in authority outside of God's plan. God always accomplishes his will, even through the most wicked leaders. God is always the final authority."

See the last statement? "God is always the final authority"....

Let BOTH parties reap the fruits of their political deeds....It sure will provide some comical relief, justice, and certainly entertaining drama. This is FAR better than the "The West Wing" TV series and Oprah COMBINED!

Silver Lion
You are so spot on there's simply nothing to add.

I wouldn't wish ill on anyone but I have to wonder what it will be like standing in their shoes when they finally meet their Maker. Imagine having corruption and an all-consuming thirst for power in this life on your soul. Christians certainly aren't above such things, and in God's eyes there is no distinction between sins but oh what the unbelievers who have that kind of thing in addition to their unbelief will face, considering there will be even those believers who will only barely escape, as from a burning house!

I'm sorry for wording this so awkwardly but all this corruption in the political arena makes me grateful for the baggage I've got-and in Christ I am grateful as well that it is GONE! :)
