Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

All day long you could feel the tension rising over the speech of Gov. Sarah Palin here to accept the nomination as the Republican Party's nominee for Vice President of the United States.

In interviews from a California TV station to a New York City radio station to Al Jazeera everyone wanted to know what Gov. Palin would say and how she would be received.

Talking with GOP delegates, operatives, and hangers-on the talk was about Sarah Palin and her speech. At least one of the cable news networks had a bug in the lower right-hand corner counting down the time until her speech.

Everyone - including me - had a theory about "what she has to do tonight" to win over the convention and the larger TV audience. Would this untested Governor from Alaska be able to pull it off?

We needn't have worried. She was great.

Due to the generosity of the finance director of the Republican National Committee, Gretchen Purser, I had credentials which allowed me to go on the floor of the convention. I took advantage of that and decided to move to the floor for Palin's speech.

Mayor Rudy Giuliani gave the keynote speech just before Gov. Palin. He was to have given that speech on Tuesday night, but because of the changes to the convention schedule due to hurricane Gustav, it was moved to last night.

He was great, too. But we already knew Rudy could deliver a speech - even one which sounded like it was a closing argument to a jury in a case against a major criminal.

Sarah, on the other hand had two burdens: One, her speech last Friday from Dayton was so good that she had set the personal speech bar pretty high. Two, the ferocity of the attacks against her by the Democrats and their allies in the media might have put her on the defensive.

We needn't have worried. She was great.

The loudest sound I have ever heard - short of a mortar going off way to close to me - was being on the floor of Ohio Stadium during an Ohio State-Michigan game about 127 years ago.

The second loudest sound was standing on the convention floor last night when Sarah Palin was announced onto the stage. By my informal count, the cheering went on for a full three-and-a-half minutes.

She came right out of the box talking about her family - all of them - in terms which any mom, proud of her brood, would have recognized.

That out of the way, she described her life as a small town mayor. "It's sort of like being a community organizer," she said, (a clear reference to Sen. Barack Obama's claim to fame that he was a community organizer in Chicago) "except that you have actual responsibilities," she concluded.

In politics we know that major candidates do not write their own speeches. But major candidates have to deliver their own speeches.

There was some question as to whether she should sustain a line of attacks against Obama which is typical of the role of the Vice Presidential candidate.

We needn't have worried. She was great.

One of my favorite lines in the speech was this:

In politics, there are some candidates who use change to promote their careers. And then there are those, like John McCain, who use their careers to promote change.

I don't know who wrote it. But I know who delivered it. With exactly the right pacing.

Sarah Palin.

The line which got the biggest roar of approval was an ad lib. The speech text reads:

I was just your average hockey mom, and signed up for the PTA because I wanted to make my kids' public education better.

Palin, paused, looked around the hall, and said: "You know what the difference is between a pit bull and a hockey mom? - beat - Lipstick.

We needn't have worried. She was great.

I really enjoyed Sarah!
She was great, poised and articulate and best of all.. rabid...
She held court on Congress, Harry Reid, MSM, and OVomit and lowered the gavel..Fabulous!

Her energy and Iraq speech was good, I wanted to hear more about education, economy and endorsing smaller government but it'll come and I sure with just as much gumption

The winning GOP ticket has been found

Lingle, a stroke of genius.
Bringing out Governor Lingle of Hawaii as the attack dog against the dimwit feminazis and pajama media was a stroke of genius.

She was superb as well and allowed Governor Palin to keep her hands clean of the liberal slime balls.

All in all a great night.

In the words of Shaq O'Neil "Hey OB, tell me how my @ss tastes".

Yup...
"Us Weekly" missed the point completely..because last evening, we learned that Sarah Palin IS ONE OF US! And that Us Weekly is NOT!

Palin 2012
After Goofy [watch a Disney Cartoon & then look at a photo of B.O.] loses the Presidential contest, that NOBODY thought it was possible for a DimO to lose, we will see Hillary Vs Palin 2012.

When I first saw the Drudge headline "Its Sarah Palin" my instantaneous thought about J. McC was: "you just won the Presidency."

Didn't know who Palin was but seeing a female name told me it was a BRILLIANT choice.

When London newspapers say Palin's speech was "Stunning" whether they liked the substance or not. B.O. is in trouble!

When the body language of female CNN [you know America's most trusted Liberal name] reporters consists of agressive head nodding when the male reporters make positive Palin comments.---B.O. is in trouble!

When I read on other site's posts from women who were either leaning Biden-Obama or going to sit this one out & they are suddenly saying "you go girl!" B.O. is in trouble!

Substance [of which Obama shows so little] will usually win over style [Obama--"I, I, I"] when it becomes obvious that the style is just an empty suit.

Someone else pointed out something I noticed last night---"U.S.A., U.S.A., U.S.A." Something you did not hear at the new fuhrers stadium coronation. We do not give a flip about how popular our President is in Europe.

This election and the future of America has to come down to ONLY 2 ISSUES.

1. How America stands on abortion.
2. How America stands against Radical Muslims.

With all of our other problems, nothing else will matter in 50 years. If America is here in 50 years.

On both of those issues, Biden-Obama have not a clue of the truth. And this election has to focus on Idiot Obama.

History, if there is any, will record that in a 36 minute speech this election became McCain & Palin's to lose. Not, Obama's.

Recovering Liberal

Sledgehammers brought to street fight...
...last night.
I was LMAO on many punch lines too.

Patriot's & conservation's alike fell in love last night w/ a new voice during the final speech.

Loony lefties & socialists had nightmares overnight.

"DRILL Baby DRILL" !

ooops-
typo error:
conservatives NOT conservations.

DRILL BABY DRILL!!!!
Is exactly right and Palin will bring the drilling!

She has me so fired up! I thought Guiliani's speech was a tough act to follow, but Palin delivered. She had perfect pace, perfect tone, perfect timing.

Huckabee had me giggling and nodding in agreement. Guiliani had me laughing hysterically and nodding in agreement. Palin had me on my feet clapping with my jaw on the floor.

She completely stomped any doubt that she is ready for this. The little jabs at B. Obama, Biden, and Michelle Obama were perfectly inserted at the right places.

She is going to do great things for this country's energy independence, for children, education, life rights, and will inspire TRADITIONAL mothers everywhere.

McCain/Palin 08
Palin/Jindal 12

WOOF!
And she can back it up.

Wait till the debates
I cannot wait to see Sarah Palin go toe to toe with Joe Biden. She is going to have him for lunch. She is an excellent communicator, which was proven with the way she delivered her speech last night. Yup, she has the entire country fired up. Great choice for McCain to make! You go girl!

McCain/Palin 08

Why stop!

Obama campaign
members are now having a collective thumbsuck.

Don't forget
Michael Steele's speech, he's the one that came up with "Drill baby Drill" And the Gov. of
HI mentioning Obama's zero accomplishments, was hilarious when the convention picked up on it and chanted ZERO ZERO..I think she gave him
a new name..ZERObama.

I agree with Sarah right down the line, including her stance on abortion. I know a woman who concieved following a rape when she was 16, she struggled to keep her baby girl for 18 months, finally having to adopt her privately because of her mothers illness.
Everyone looks at these so called hard cases,
not thinking of the innocent baby..executed for it's father's sin. My friend began a ministry
to rape victims about 20 years ago and she has said to me, that the women/girls who carry their babies to term deal with the rape a lot
better than those who abort. She ministers
as a Christian not as a secularist. But a lot of well meaning people seem to think that
getting rid of the baby is the best solution and will help the woman/girl heal faster.

Sarah's debating skills
I've seen her in an open political forum at the Tanana Valley State Fair against Frank Murkowski. We didn't really know who she was at the time -- Wasilla is like the 10th largest city in Alaska and mostly just one giant off-ramp unless you know where you're going -- but I stood there with my mouth hanging open as she time and time again put Murkowski and that other guy in their place. And, yeah, she can play the humor if she needs to. That was completely UNscripted, just a forum conducted by the local newspaper, taking questions for the audience who were mostly people who wandered in from the fair grounds. Obama appears not to have been born with a sense of humor and Joe Biden takes himself WAY too seriously, so I think they may be in trouble.

My heart went pitter-pat
I'd given up on McCain completely. After all, McCain/Feingold was an unpardonable sin.

But I heard Sarah Palin last week and thought, oh my, this might be interesting.

Then, last night, the Gov Palin's speech was so impressive, I was nearly in tears.

I began to think, "How do we get McCain off the ticket?" But seriously...Maybe Sarah Palin can educate McCain on the economics of oil, energy and corruption. Maybe, I can get really lucky, and she will convert him to conservatism and the Austrian School of economics.

Sarah touched the heart
Of America
Never in my dreams had I thought John McCain has this much common sense to select a real person to run on the ticket with him.

She was great ....
...but ...

No one is talking about the looming problems of social security and Medicare ...

No one is talking about what America's role in the world should be ... 25 years after the fall of the wall, should we still be supporting the defense of Europe, Japan, Korea and Israel? Can we afford it?

What is the right strategy for confronting the actions of the Islamofascists?

What is the proper role for the federal government in -- education, medicine, infrastructure, energy?

Are we going to be socialist or free enterprise country? France or Singapore?

Sara touched the heart

Your comment about Jonny Mac is priceless, gave me a good chuckle.

"I'm the NRA and I vote"

SCOTCH INDIAN
Your comment is also a concern of mine. Considering how dependent economically we are in China, a non-strategic ally, I have come to the conclusion there is a dual headed monster in corporate greed and America's fixation on the lower price.

China has a plenty-big enough population to fuel their economy, so the American dollar has been the excess fuel for their incredible infrastructure and military building boom leading to inflated building material prices and home pricing. With in influx of American money, they have successfully undermined our financial independence. If there was a formula to enhance incentives to relocate manufacturing BACK to the states, you would have decreased unemployment, increased income taxes and social security contributions, and a better strategic stance. The insatiable appetite for cheaper goods has partially led to the deflated dollar, and inflation - an example of an exercise in futility. Hopefully, a McCain presidency with proper economic policy will pave the way for the return of American manufacturing.

Scotch Indian
You make soem valid points. Sarah is at the bottom of the ticket, so it's hard to say how much say she might have on those issues. I for one don't wish John McCain any ill. However, you can look at Sarah's record in Alaska and see that she is a fiscal conservative who makes TOUGH choices and doesn't apologize for them. So, if she is given any influence at all, I think we'll see a move toward more conservative economic policies -- which would include saying no to universal health insurance, likely a reduction in federal interference and funding of local school districts, a development-encouraging energy policy and more privitization of infrastructure development. McCain has already shown some interest in those areas in the past, both in the Senate and as a candidate, so .... We can only hope! That McCain turned outside of Washington shows that we may be very surprised at the course he sets as POTUS. He's no longer languishing around in the box. A Washington political maverick unbound by Washington as-usual politics and getting advice from a real non-Washington thinker will be a totally amazing thing to watch!

Hey OBAMBIE TROLLERS!
SARAH PALIN kicked OBAMBIE and your butts last night. And she did it without the help of STYROFOAM GREEK columns or a TELEPROMPTER!

Get ready for JOHN MCCAIN to put the final nails in your collective coffin tonight.

Did you hear your candidate out there today at his PRESS conference SNIVELING like BABMI!

Say good-bye to the TELEPROMPTER KING. YOU and OBAMBIE are FINISHED!

Quick on her feet
That's all--she's quick on her feet: nimble, flexible. She has adaptiveness.

McCain will need these traits to deal with al-Qaeda which has all these traits and then some.

Somewhat offensive
When Palin knocked "community organizers", she wasn't knocking Jesus Christ, was she? Because basically that's what he was: working with the sick and less fortunate, sometimes healing the ill with a miracle. Anybody got a take on where she stands on Christianity? If she's taking a pot shot at Christians, I think it is very inappropriate. And offensive.

Jeffrey, Reply #22 Sep 4 10:54 PM
With all due respect, if you are due any, the 'community organizer' work done by Senator Obama had nothing to do with the sick and less fortunate but mostly organizing communities for the Chicago political machine. You know the city where the number of registered voters is greater than the population. The city where the dead rise up to vote on every election day. The city where the mayor once told the people to "vote early and vote often".

The activism practiced by 'Saint Obama' had nothing to do with charity or Christianity and everything to do with politics and socialism. You are obviously overlooking Senator Obama's mentor Saul Alinsky. Senator Obama is a radical socialist nothing more and every one of his policies have been tried and have failed every time. Those of us who have lived through some history have seen it and watched it fail. Just because you put it in a shiny new package doesn't change the fact that it won't work.

On Sarah Palin's take on Christianity...she's a Christian. If you can reach this website you have at least reached a level of education to 'google' Sarah Palin and I'm sure you can find out for sure. Of this I'm certain, Governor Palin has done more for the sick and less fortunate both at the personal and governmental level from the heart than Senator Obama ever has and ever will.

Senator Obama is one of the coldest most politically calculating people I have ever seen. If he ever tells you that he's 'got your back', bend over and kiss your a** goodbye because you're toast. If you ever put your trust in him you will pay the price for misplaced trust. He will, at the first hint of trouble, leave you high an dry.

Jeffrey, I know you're trolling here and I really should ignore you, but at least try and get the facts before shooting, it will prevent you from shooting yourself in the foot.

McCain - SarahCuda '08

Imagine
Imagine how much louder it would have been if they had filled all the seats? Anyone at that convention is going to get a great reception if the speech they're reading is full of Right wing rhetoric and nothing else. With all her ugly, nasty, unpredictable dog with lipstick comments, her speech writer's only issues were war and oil. No wonder the dog with lipstick was so popular. If she wasn't so self absorbed, she would have known that a young girl was just killed by a pit bull over in the valley. I don't think those people thought that was so cute.

Sarah has energized BOTH bases!

Following her speech Wednesday night, republicans received 1 million in donations.

And following her speech, democrats received 8 million in donations (NO JOKE!)

Dems LOVE YOU, Sarah! GO LIPSTICKED pit bull! And keep them liberal donations rolling in!

John, Will, sophie, etc...
Are you trolls getting paid by the word? Are you really that ignorant naturally or are you students in law school?

In case you missed the early 2000's - the money came rolling (ala George Soros) to the dims. Fer cryin' out load - Saudi Arabia just said they love bambi, and he's got the Venezualan drug money, and all the money the Chicago Machine can launder - you think that's gonna automatically buy you the election? Ya got 60 days, fellas - and bambi's droppin faster than a white house intern in a demo administration. Remember - the polls said that Kerry won (right before he lost).

10 votes for Palin/McCain. (oh - and 3 of them were Demo - massive grin...)

True Grit…Be Informed…

Regardless of which Political Party you prefer, “True Grit” is the answer…be informed. Ask yourself this simple question, “Which Candidates really have “True Grit”? Then seek your answer, but do not look to the mainstream media for your answer. These are troubling times in which we live, so look too History and its troubling times for your answer.

Perfect examples of "True Grit" can be found in people like Abraham Lincoln, FDR, Winston Churchill, Eisenhower, JFK, Reagan…to John McCain and Sarah Palin. As a Vietnam Vet, I get chills even now when I remember those days and think about John McCain’s traumatic experience at the hands of the North Vietnamese. It aggravates me that the Democratic Party has tilted so far to the left…I cannot even recognize it as the Party of FDR and JFK. Everyone should understand and deserves to experience what "True Grit" is and what it means to have “True Grit”.

The United States and the next President are going to be faced with some major challenges both domestic and foreign. On the foreign front…a resurgent Russia, an energized China, a global economy with serious problems, to the next chapter of the turmoil in the Middle East and dealing with the Osama bin Ladens of the world. On the domestic front…an energy crisis that spells trouble for all Americans, taxes and spending out of control, legal and illegal immigration that continues to increase, health care and education costs rise as quality is stagnated or declining, entitlement programs that will bankrupt this country.

What of Mrs. Palin's liabilities? Like McCain, she makes up for, in sheer determination to do the right thing. The intellect and a values system second to none and some good old common sense; there is no decision she or McCain would make, that I could not trust and support; because they have “True Grit”!

"Hurricane" Sarah
After only two national appearances Goc. Palin has energized middle America, you know, those hard working, "bible clinching" true Americans who happen to pay 90% of the taxes.
She has aroused the silent majority to a point where they are going to be heard on Nov.04.
Looks like liberals, east-west coast "elite" politicians, jourmalists and lobbyists are scurrying lik cockroaches exposed to sudden light.

Did You HEAR

what happened to NObama this past Thursday morning???

He awakened with a moose's head in his bed!

Sorry, I just couldn't resist!

Now that you admit you love Sarah Palin, have you put your money where your mouth (and heart) are, and sent a check to McCain/Palin? I did! Go to http://www.johnmccain.com

NObama is very flush with cash to slam and slander them in the coming weeks before the election. Do SOMETHING to stop him! Do it NOW!

What Happened to the Democrats?
A few days ago someone was wondering what happened to the Democrat Party. In the 50s when he remembered it, the party was the party of the blue collar workers. It was also the party of the South.

In the 60s the Democrats discovered that they could get a sizable vote from the black population by paying organizers and promising freebies. Instantly they began to court every minority in the country and began to move from a center position to the far left to attract even more.

At the time, I stated that they were killing the Democrat Party - and they did. The blue collar workers pay most of the country's tax and they know it. They also know that a great portion of that tax is being paid to minority groups for their votes. The blue collar workers are not as stupid as the Democrats believe them to be. They know where their money is going and don't care to be broke and ignored. They began to join the Republican Party for support since the Democrats no longer tried to aid them.

How has the Democrats changed? They no longer represent a majority of the voters. They represent a group of minorities. And minorities, by definition, means a smaller group. They no longer represent the middle class, having moved so far to the left that even the minority groups are having trouble recognizing them. And they wonder what the problem is?

As I've noted elsewhere...
Palin HAS to get a state to change over from BHO to McCain. Just shoring up 'leaning' Republican won;t do it. Thankfully, I see they already have her on the road in Wisconsin.

The analysis:
I though best shot might be Colorado, but I've been reminded it's become so infested with California-type liberals that it may be beyond reach. Next best shot to me may be MI where the economy has been so ravaged maybe people will try something new. (Forget about PA - so much voter fraud in Philly, McCain is down 3-4 points from the beginning). Then again, WI votes might like to hear that Marge Gunderson upper midwest twang...

Here's the score:
McCain solid/leaning: 194
Obama solid/leaning: 259
In play:
FL 27
MT 3
ND 3
OH 20
VA 13
NV 5
CO 9
NM 5

Trends indicate McCain should be able to secure the first 5, maybe 6, since dingy Harry has helped bring bad times to Vegas via gas prices. Last 2 are sadly trending Obama. Final score would be McCain 265, Obama 273. Winners: Tax and spend liberals, welfare state. Losers: The taxpaying American Public.

However, I've heard things about Hawaii, worth 4 points in this game, which would put it a dead tie at 269-269, thereby throwing the election to the House. I can't imagine a sadder day for America than watching SanFranNan lead her minions to elect the least experienced and most naive Presidential candidate in over 100 years...

But as I said, again elsewhere McCain beter get her on the road which he in fact appears to be doing!

Great to see you back Rich!

Red v. Yellow Ice
I'll bet her kids play "red ice" hockey as opposed to Obambi who would likely play "yellow ice" hockey. Ask a hockey coach what that means.
